It's highly unlikely it was a DDOS.
That being said, as a client of the server, there is nothing you can do to prevent it.

There's one thing that should have autobans, but they shouldn't even require a report: People saying stuff that's already bannable in chat.
There's already a system ****ing chat messages. Don't even need some fancy and clever system trying to see context or whatever, I don't think that's very relevant if someone just straight up says the n-word or to off themselves. Just instantly apply the punishment they'd get for that behavior if reported + punished the old fashioned way.
For basically anything else it's not a good idea without some kinda wacky "cleverness" that I really don't want to leave in the hands of an automated system.
The is also the matter of other languages. The are words written exactly the same as in English but having a very different meaning.
For that matter, one could be rude in many languages and get away with it.

Firstly, why be nasty to people? Especially when you know that they are outmatched?
Like...would you like to be on the other end of this, and do you think that's healthy for the state of the game, at a time when a lot of newer people are going to be playing?
Secondly, who suggested a player based auto-ban? I don't think I've ever seen this even asked for?
Thirdly...if you're going to go out of your way to be nasty to people, at least bring a damn flan.
I may not have been clear. I wasn't nasty one bit with the beginners. I've used the word sadistic, for the previous games, which is different in my book. I've been against good teams all night. Some have been properly infuriating to verse (bully teams, still managed to kill about half each time) The fun was mostly thanks the use of Insidious in unexpected places (and gen-tapping survivors running to me then panicking because of it) and one tea-bag followed by a dead-hard into a Blood Warden xD.
Cfr last dev stream.
I don't have any flan on this killer and even if I had, I was way too close to the 1M limit to waste one.
-
I've got that issue once since the update. I got kicked out of the match. I was playing Dredge on RPD.
Restarting the game fixed the issue.
-
I've played an insidious Bubba all night. (Not especially to camp the basement.) It has been a lot of fun.
I had my best chase in a very long time. The player was so good I couldn't help but congratulating her moves and mind-games during the chases. (She couldn't hear, obviously.)

They're supposed to be dealt with, and I'm sure they are, but not all of them. Considering how much toxicity and death wishes you can find in the endgame lobby, they would need a massive team working 8 hours on that.
They said they will address toxicity, I would like a system that rewards cool and good vibes players (giving them skins or BP if they recive upvotes).
I have to say (althought I might be risking a ban here) that there are some offenses that seems to be dealt inmediately, and on my personal perspective they are not that aggresive as a death wish.
I don't imagine a player-vote system to work. (One of the reasons that auto-ban they've told about may be an abomination.)
edit:
On another hand, I've just given a thumbs up to a whole team. One of them was a pleasure to chase because of her consecutive smart plays and mind-games. And given the three others were either dead or slugged to death (the chase was long), they've been very good sports. That's so rare.

If sprint burst is stronger, then why is everybody running dead hard?
As for me, i am a lithe enjoyer
Dead Hard doesn't requires any skill to speak of.
Sprint Burst does. Survivors using it are usually quite good. (Way better than me in that role)
Lithe is nice but more situational IMHO. Still better than Balanced Landing though.

How do you check for temporary bans though? You only see permanent bans on (not private) profiles as far as I know?
I'm not aware of that. If what you say is true then we'll never know.
-
I'm pretty sure you are right. After all SB is way stronger than DH. The only difference is that properly using SB requires some skill.

Unfortunately, unless you report them externally as well, with video evidence, nope.
Which I did.
-
I've encountered several of these.
I've recorded their ping during chases (~1080ms) and when they were safe (~100ms) and reported them.
I don't know if they were banned.
-
I don't have any good advice for Sadako but I just want to emphasis @GoodBoyKaru 's comment about NOED.
If you want to get better, you should not use that perk. It will give you at best one down against any decent team and you should endeavor to win the game before the fifth generator pops.

but thats the thing she doesnt... I used to main nurse a few months ago... Literally took me 1 day if even that to learn the blinks with almost pinpoint accuracy... Now she isnt super busted but she is fairly strong i lose against some bad nurses as often as i lose against good. (now the 2 most recent nurses were cheaters, and i havent faced some in a long time (they had legacy skins with 200 hours and the steam acocunt was 1 year old this was late 2021) But that she requires some super skills is bullshit pure bullshit. Now sure there are killers who you can jump on and deliver great results with that doesnt need any practice nurse is still one of the harder ones to learn. But its not what youtubers say "blah blah you will have to put down thousands of hours on her"
In reality you need a day to learn the blinks, after a week or so you will be very accurate with the blinks, Then the only thing missing is game sense which you need on most killers anyway. Just knowing the map makes a difference with nurse. I mean if you know the layout you can "teleport" more strategically. Its more of a guessing game yes...
Yeah, no one with a clue will take you seriously.
At best, your post a textbook case of Dunning-Kruger.

I was doing the community chase thingy. I had decided to switch to Doctor as it's pretty easy to not give a hit and keep the chase running for a long time. It's pretty obvious for the survivors too (if they have more than a couple of brain-cells).
The survivors had popped 4 gateaux so I wanted to make sure to chase everyone and kind of play nice. (I know: I'm an idiot too sometimes)
First survivor I chase starts to BM one minute into the game (well duh, I was only trying to get the chase counter up). Then his friends come and start to vault back and forth. Right, that kind of player.
If that's how they wanted to do it, it was fine by me. I've closed DbD and switched to another game.
Since the event started, I've been against more cheaters (some recorded and reported) and immature players than over the last couple of months. I've got the solo part done. I will not make any further effort towards the community one.
-
There are two sides in this game.
I got half my masks as killer and the other half as survivor.
-
The Nurse has the lowest kill rate and most agree there are a lot of bad Nurses and a handful of good ones. (Survivors who are winning often are probably going against a good one from time to time.)
She is so hard to use that it requires a lot of effort and skill to use her effectively. Something most players apparently don't want or are unable to do.
Which means survivors losing against her are losing against someone who had put a lot more effort in it than what they are ready to do.
I find that more than acceptable. Any survivor training even a fraction of what a good Nurse player had to endure would have no issue against her.
Losing against someone better who trains harder should feel normal to everyone. If anything, the real issue here is all the other killers weak players don't complain about.
Instead of complaining, survivors should play her and watch how decent survivors are cleaning the floor with them. They may even start to understand how to play against her themselves.

I said she has the lowest kill rate but is the best killer. None of these two points are debatable. Please read my comments before quoting me, I'm begging you.
Let's assume it's true.
The only explanation would be she is so hard to use that it requires a lot of effort and skill to use her effectively. Something most players apparently don't or can't do.
Which means survivors losing against her are losing against someone with a lot of training and skill. Certainly way more of both than what they have.
I find that more than acceptable. Any survivor training even a fraction of what a good Nurse player had to endure would have no issue against her.

Instead of crying, play her and watch how decent survivors are cleaning the floor with you. You may even start to understand how to play against her yourself.
Or you can continue being wrong (and that's 0K). Just don't expect to be taken seriously.

Oh, so console issues are magically fixed based on your comment? Do you face range/recharge nurses while playing on console?
PC nurses dominate us. Mind telling us how to counter her then since you apparently know how to?
All this has been repeated, in masse, ad nauseum in many other threads. There is a search button, use it.

Lemma see if I can join you! Oh right, I play on console. Silly me, PC nurses will have a breeze going against me.
Actually no, it's kind of the opposite. But I guess that's something you would know if you knew how to counter a Nurse ...
-
I was trying to. I was even playing some weak killers to chill.
My opponents didn't agree and pushed the gens so fast all I could do to counter was four-slug them with only one hook in range. The end of the match was pretty chill though.
-
After the ban wave, I've seen no cheaters for a while. Gone were the incompetent survivors who somehow were impossible to catch.
But they've started to appear more and more. It may be time for another ban wave.

I would love to have dead hard removed however let's face it the wait times for killer would shoot up as many bad survivors wouldn't wanna play without their third health state. Good survivors who at least run a different exhaustion perk or none at all will still stay. However many survivor mains will not play during that week.
So basically it would solve the survivor queue times during the night?
Maybe it's worth a try then.

@Araphex said:
I'm decent with Nurse until I get an indoor map like RCPD. Then I end up teleporting into the wrong rooms, wrong floors, getting stuck in-between things, ect. She definitely could use some loving.
It's only a matter of training. I can pretty much blind blink everywhere on that map but it took me many many games.
-
You really need to learn how to play against her, and it's not that hard.
-
Ask you why you do it?
Usually it's either because there is no other option for a kill, or because the survivors have been exceptionally annoying.
I used to do it systematically for Object of Obsession, before the change.
edit: I just found one reason. If survivors give up for no reason at the start of the match, putting their teammates in trouble, I feel like from now on I'll slug and let them bleed, put their fate into their teammates' hands and ensure they die slowly.
-
Don't get caught? (I'm no expert though)
-
I don't think it's a good idea. There will be no end to the cries of boosted survivors and it may drastically increase the killer wins for a little while.
It may distort the perception of the game regarding its current imbalance until the MMR "fixes" the matches properly.
We should probably wait for the famous 40 perks rework that was announced.
-
The above comments are already giving a lot of information.
There are also a lot of posts here about versing a Nurse or playing her.
In a nutshell:
- Don't let your presence known if you can avoid it. Prudence goes a long way.
- Leave gens early.
- Always "respect" the Nurse (a pretty common tactic is to appear weak to wipe the team when they are all close together, usually trying to bully you)
- Don't heal in her terror radius (duh) but try to stay healthy as else one blink is all she needs.
- Be unpredictable : change tactic randomly. Going back all the time will kill you, as only pressing forward. There are other directions you can take.
- Her biggest weakness is detection. Break line of sight and use that opportunity to break with what you were doing (and sometimes not : be unpredictable)
- Remember that sound is very important for all killer, and Nurses are trying to get you trough walls : sound is VERY important for them. The mere breath of a survivor is sometimes enough to land a hit.
- Watch her hand to guess her intent (that she may fake) and fake your intent as well (like faking a window or a vault, just more risky). Again, don't always fake your intent as it makes you predictable.
- Do NOT get caught in an animation: dropping floor or vaulting usually means death.
- The worst opponent of a Nurse is another Nurse. Play her for a while. Don't worry about winning. This is true for all killers but knowing the Nurse enough to have a feel of her range will make you more of a pain to catch.
Good Nurses usually have thousand(s) of hour(s) in the game. Don't worry too much if you get "destroyed" by them.
-
The 5th Gen should deactivate DS.
That being said, this is only an issue if you don't "tunnel" survivors.
-
It's a great move. I usually wait for 12 seconds before giving a hit and putting back to hook.
-
Necro.
-
I think almost half my killer games since yesterday have been Ormond.
It's starting to annoy me. (I've even started the night with another game and only played DbD for about 90 minutes)

Fair point on stalking or threat. But no one would be dumb enough to cheat while keeping their profiles public for everyone to see their bans on other games for the same reason. Or would they?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2997188#Comment_2997188
Not even VPNs are 100% safe against DDOS, let alone making a private profile. But again, stalking and harassment are fair points.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2997159#Comment_2997159
Epic seems to have their own anti cheat measures, and they seem to work pretty well, at least way better than Anti Easy Cheat. But it's exclusive to their own games. But judging by what kind of players the predatory business model of Epic attracts, I wouldn't be surprised if people would be more willing to cheat via there. I mean, I got a pretty vast collection of games on Epic, some are AAA titles. And I never spent a single unit of currency on that platform. What ever would I have to lose if I were to cheat and get banned there? Even my DbD there was free.
The anti-cheat is the same for everyone. The issue, if you'd call it that, with Epic is there aren't profile pages like on steam.
-
No counterplay? Are you kidding?
I make a point tunneling out any survivor trying this. Of course the first hit is a down since I can count.
If they have DS, it's only a few seconds respite.
And if they cry about it on the chat, all they get is my indifference : if a survivor runs to the killer, he is obviously asking to die.
-
Many survivors have bled to death because of the hook distribution on Midwich.
-
If you play on "high MMR" (something that you should be able to guess if you have enough experience), there is an higher chance to go against cheaters.
Usually, 1-stop shoppers, heavily numerical names and recent game bans are kind of suspect. The Epic accounts though are hard to check.

Getting your first hit less than 10 secs into the match is fun (and a great start)
On blight anyway, I'm bad enough at nurse that I'd get equal value out of bamboozle
I'm not too good with Blight, but I can handle the Nurse adequately.
Typically my first move is to sneak upon them before my first blink. Sometimes it goes into a gen grab and, if they aren't careful, an second down. (Once I got the four of them but it was a royal screw-up from them.)
I find the new locker perk (forgot its name) to be a better choice as it has a strong chance to locate them from the start and then during the game. (Granted, the perk didn't exist when this thread started.)
-
The best thing you can do is to keep away so you aren't associated with them.
Bully squads are a special treat and you don't want to be part of the menu.
-

Havn't seen a single one yet. Obviously I wont buy her to try her out, but I'm wondering what makes her so bad. From what I saw from content creators, she kinda reminded me of Wraith, just with a teleporting ability.
Her powers can be denied by survivors. She isn't fast while "invisible". She is a basic M1 killer.

It isn't 100% fine. It does not deactivate on the gate panel.... Which forces the killer to slug you just like with totems and gens. That is a massive flaw. What's weird is no one ever points that out.
It could be optimised a bit, yes.
I've been so used to the previous, busted, version that this one feels like a breeze in comparison.
It may also be because I have no problem tunneling survivors out of the match when it feels necessary (almost always : most of the teams I verse are pushing through generators while pissing blood and ignore teammates hanging on a hook).

I thought it was great on hawkins :S
Different things annoy different people i guess. Doesn't change the fact they nerfed it because survivors refused to run calm spirit.
That doesn't sound like a good idea at all.
I've not used Spies for a while though. I don't know how useful it is at the moment.
-
DS is fine as it is. If a player don't want to miss a kill because of DS, he only has to eat it strategically. (Or to tunnel, that works too.)

Never saw a complaint from a killer that it gave too much information. The best part was that it showed the direction the survivor was moving, now you get one ping and then silence.
I used to have Spies in my builds. In Hawkins this was insufferable.

Today, I've been in Ormond too many times to keep count.
Why is it always the worst maps?

The achivement does state though to kill all 4 survivors by your hand using tombstone. So its really the achivement making this problem. And its a difficult achivement. Coming from someone who plays a lot of myers? Its fricken brutal. 90% of the time all the gens are done before you even got your first tombstone because both iris increase stalk required.
It took me about 18 tries before getting it. (After training for a while for that purpose.)

Playing both sides or not has nothing to do with the reaction you'll get. The word "toxic" has no meaning in this context.
I'd look at the ones that tend to use it though. They are the ones with a problem.

So far.
The real defining moment will be that 40 perks rework.
