  • If it's 1st blink, aim to the ground.

If it's the 2nd blink, hold it.

So, I was watching some nurse videos, mainly because I wanna learn nurse, and I saw tons of nurses running shadowborn, which strikes me as odd since shadowborn only affects your fov. Anyone know why?

People do it because FOV. But I suggest not doing it. It's one of those things that you get crutched with and Nurse really doesn't need it. You can track people by listening and, after you get good, your 1st blink can instantly put you back in their face regardless (same with things like DS, etc.). Use the slot for something that'll help you more when you are learning, like ruin+undying.

I run BB&C, Infectious, Whispers + random perk that I'm feeling (it's been sloppy lately so people stay 1 tapped or Devour Hope if I'm bored of sloppy. But this can literally be anything because Nurse operates so easily with just those 3 perks. I use this slot for all the challenges too, like bamboozling a window 8 times in a single trial, and still get an easy 4k most times).

IMAGINE thinking a HEX perk combo is in ANY WAY more powerful than the survivor meta. Dear lord. This is comedy gold by someone with like 10 hours in DBD.

Alright you are like 12, so probably no point in arguing further. But imagine thinking only your opinion is correct and attack people for having one that differ from you. Yikes. That personality trait.

I'm not really a fan of either but by all means turn ds/unbreakable into hex perks :P

It's just as bad as a hex perk because it relies on the killer playing poorly to execute it. Getting tunneled? DS'ed. Slugging without getting a 2nd down quick enough? Unbreakable cucks you.

  • The small PP build goes both ways.

Undying+Ruin+Tinker is much more small PP than any survivor perk combo.

And I am a killer main saying this lol

In maybe one out of 50 games on console I have a teammate who will play injured. The rest of the time they either stop playing and wait for everyone else to finish (no matter how many gens are left) or they go into the basement to search for a medkit, or most commonly, Self Care. I was just wondering if it's different on PC.

Yes. PC players tend to play injured and not go out of their way for a heal unless they have a perk that facilitates it. And even then, they'll still play injured against certain killers (legion, plague, billy, etc.)

  • @Zozzy said:

nothing said here will change what the devs do. whatever it is has already been decided on based on the survivor complaints.

so... get ready for him to have a fully survivor controlled power with zero input from the killer.

Stop acting like this is a survivor choice, solely, Even as a killer main, freddy NEEDED to be nerfed. He's way too easy to use and way to powerful. I'd be okay if they didn't nerf him, but like he didn't deserve this and putti\ng blame all on survivor mains is extremely unaware of the game.

  • Killer is demoralizing at the beginning, but eventually the game will become killer favored if you get good enough. The enemy team always is filled with at least 1 horrible player and you can pretty much decimate them because of this. SWF can be problematic, but you'll rarely encounter one where all players are fantastic.

  • @Raccoon said:

Losing because of bugs/getting stuck/invisible collision/etc makes playing Nurse an unfulfilling experience.

Throw in fatigue + cooldown, and she's just a character I use for dailies.

I usually do well as her, and she's actually not OMG BBQ levels of difficulty to learn, but after getting decent with her, it's just not fun to lose to "the game" instead of my own mistakes or survivor outplays.

The bugs aren't common. And even when they do occur, I still win. The basement vacuum is annoying. And the 2nd blink lock occurs the most outside of that, but the 2nd blink lock helps you become a better Nurse. And is fixed if you down someone. I feel like people who talk about her bugs don't really play her a lot...because none of them cause me to lose. Hell, I even blinked INSIDE a gen and grabbed someone and they wiggled out because i couldn't move. And then that person was locked inside the gen lmao.

Killers that are rewarding to master in my opinion/learn with a good skill ceiling:

    • Nuse
    • Billy
    • Oni
    • Blight
    • Huntress
    • Bubba (after his rework. I suck with bumping into #########)

Dont learn hag... its just misery for everyone you play against.

I tried to play Hag and it's too slow for me. I like games to be fast paced and chaotic. I'm slowly leaning towards Oni because his power makes it a slug fest

  • @Mandy said:

I think because Nurse's skillcap is probably the highest there is a huge sense of achievement when you get really good at her and don't use add ons or perks etc. The one that comes the closest to me is Huntress and I would still play her with Bitter Murmur (I can't play her without it!).

I don't use addons, but not using perks scares me. I love my whispers too much.

  • @Perfectnomad said:

The second you get into a trial, gens are being done. You fgind one survivor, you get into a chase, but then 2-3 gens pop. How is this fun?

It gets better when you get better. The feeling your having now is just because your skill level. Just keep playing

  • @Heartbound said:

There's very little that can compare to running honing stone as Trapper and having all four survivors step in a trap at the same time. Its only happened once in like 3 years of playing, but all I could do was be like.

"hm hm hm hm. Truly, I have outplayed you in one hundred thousand ways."

The only killer I fear at skill cap is the Huntress though, so I'm going to go with her. A nurse can never counter Dead Hard. She'll always miss one swipe against top tier players. Huntress hatchets go through the character model and stay in it for that hit.

It's pretty easy to bait out dead hard, especially when you get comfortable with blink timers. You can swing at the last second from fatigue, or hold your 2nd blink until last second, etc. And in solo queue, it's so easy to just destroy peple regardless. I'll also willingly eat DS or BT if someone farms someone in front of me, because I can instantly down them again. =/ Problem is that it gets boring, especially because the times I play at seem to get such mediocre players. Maybe it would be more fun during full swing sweats times.

It does. In cases where there's only two survivors remaining, a Legion can just Frenzy hit one survivor, then use Killer Instinct to find the last one even if they're inside a locker.

I just came out of a game where this happened 5 times so the killer could get a 4k. It's pretty silly.

I mean...you were the dumb one hiding in lockers vs a legion. Get good at looping maybe?

  • @GhostMaceNotCrusty said:

Pyramid head or blight? Their pretty fun (at least for the killer) and the blight definitely has a high skill cap. Ph also has a pretty high skill gap.

I'm waiting for the blight POV fix before trying him out. PH doesn't seem to rewarding. He's a good killer, but compared to Nurse it's underwhelming. =/ I'd rather just play Nurse at that point

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1816308#Comment_1816308

When I was playing Huntress at rank 20 I was 4k'ing extremely easy, I made it down to rank 7 and playing against teams of rank 2-5s who know how to loop the huntress and it's a different story entirely. Unless your mindgames are spot on, it's pretty tricky to quickly quickly end chases against extremely competent survivors.

Yeah...People always underestimate the work it takes to consistently 4k, especially at higher ranks. When I was learning Nurse, I would get destroyed by SWFs without much effort on their part and I would do okay-ish. It wasn't until I was solidly red rank (never going below) that I began to hold my own against SWFs (but still no 4k, maybe just 2k). I figure Huntress will take this much work, so I'm just sooooo not ready for the work that goes into learning another hard character. But I want to =/

  • @[Deleted User] said:

If you want to become a god Huntress it'll take a few hundred hours. If you just want to 4k consistently and hit some good shots, I'd say you can do it in under a week, she's not that hard to get the grasp on.

I feel like thats a stretch lol

  • Don't buff him. He has one of the most boring gameplays in the world. he's good where he's at. People play him. He fills a niche. And he's not bad.

  • Right now, being rank 1 on killer kind of reminded me how far I came. I started the game as a (basically) perkless nurse and now I am a rank 1 Nurse killer. And although I am only a good nurse, definitely not a great one, the rank 1 kind of helps calm those voices that tell me I'm complete ######### at this game.

  • @DoritoHead said:

Nope, as killer you won't get to rank 1 if you have to rely on crutches.

    Survivor on the other hand

Killer perks seem more crutchy to me than survivor ones. At least, that was my experience playing both sides.

  • @SocialDistomancy said:

whyw ould you even want to be rank 10 or 9 as akiller right now, let alone rank 1? You'll just stress yourself for nothing when all you're facing are red rank swf burning off all their purple and pink keys and going out of their way to screw with you as much as they possibly can over the next couple or few weeks. If the game is gonna lose more killers, and it already felt like some didn't come back after the bloodlust weekend from my recent rainbow matchmaking streaks and slight increase of typical queue times when I played survivor, the game is gonna have even worse matchmaking just to throw those swf groups into alobby of some sort. You wanna depip as much as possible at this point, perhaps all the way down to 16 if you wanna wraith it while watching tv or something. A dumb achievement is not worth the stress.

Your perception of the game and mine are extremely different.

  • @nursewannabe said:

    YIKES

Yeah..I don't need it but every now and then (like 1 game durign SWF times) you get the genny rushing. And I really enjoy just shutting that tactic down. Other games tend to end with 4-5 gens still up if I run it though, which I feel bad about for the other side....but I still have fun lol

  • I find killers boring to verse if they are full on sweat. Like there is no need to have ruin+undying (+tinkerer too possibly) and go on a full slugging rampage.

  • I don't think the grind is too bad if you dont P3 everyone. I'm almost done with getting everyone to level 50 at ~500 hrs. I have P3 Nurse, Legion, Jane and Meg + P1 Feng.

Yeah, grinding XP is how I do the Rift. If you can have the game running in the background while you do other stuff, it helps immensely. Just don't AFK 100% of the time, do some bare-minimum interactions at the beginning or end of the match. I'd recommend using a normal killer and not AFK'ing as Wraith, it annoys survivors and is more likely to result in reports if you use a killer they can't at least try to farm chase points off of.

If I do like ~1hr of AFK killer a day should it be okay?

oh dude if it's on xp alone even with killer lobbies in seconds it's gonna take like a week to do that for hours on hours on hours and a huge chunk of the weekend too. depending on how many levels you need you still might have some levels left youc ould just use the auric it all gave you to straight up buy if the rewards are worth it or those levels give you auric back to compound the last 5 or 6 levels which I've done. When you want something over with , you're tempted to just it over with and without handing them even more money for inconveniencing you which only encourages it to be worse the next time. I'm certainly not doing killer challenges any more and this is the last rift I'll buy even if they put pam anderson naked in the next rift. If you're 36 now you're probably not finishing it without buying 10 to 20 of those levels btw even if you play non stop. The next rift is tomorrow I think,a nd the last rift iirc you only get about a week to finish. Plus certain killer challenges that may come with it might have just become much more tedious, even if not too much more difficult in the typical matches you get.

I could just run the game in the bg while I do my work (so from like 11am to 7/8pm lmao)

  • @Xyvielia said:

By way of 3-4 hours of matches a day, increasing 2 tiers on the Rift, cutting the overall time of 70 days til completion in half.

I’m a bit behind however, having taken a week off playing. Still on target to complete the Rift with 13 or so days to spare before it closes.

It used to be much easier before they intensified the grind last time around.

Tough to do with a full time job or a family to take care of.

Would be really helpful if devs, choosing to keep it grindy, would loosen it up just a little to especially help these specific players.

What is "on time"? What level are you at? I just hit level 36 and feel like it's hopeless. I'm only 1/2 way...

I've finished previous rifts last 10-20 levels much of the way like that, and gave it noed and blood warden since it's boring so that sometimes if people are ducking around I'll kill a couple or few on their way out for wasting my time. A few times I also used the brown addon that gives him a threat radius while cloaked with distressing for the lulz. I spawned right in the center of middlewich once and it was hilarious seeing a bill right up in my face trying tof igure out what was going on, he asked in end game chat was the killer bugged LOL./ All of that can be done while doing something more interesting, watching tv, or playing another game.

Don't do it all at once, and don't spend all night doing it. Like what i said about the noed/bloodwarden moments, something like that or playing for a match every couple or few doesn't look so bad and I also threw in a couple or few survivor matches after 3 to 5 afk wraith matches if I was only active for one of the matches or none of them. They can look at all the data, I don't believe they care as long as you are not a Survivor afking often since then you could get others killed and make it impossible to escape in some situations for them even... but as a killer you aren't impeding anybody at all so it's morally acceptable especially after bad patches pop up out of the blue and you've already paid for the rift and it's the only reliable way to finish it between long survivors queues and not feeling enthused about playing killer. Just spread it out and don't overdo it. And skip a night after a couple in a row. only did it for the past two rifts, but hadn't been banned for it so far. If I got banned it would most likely be for end game chat lol.

How long did it take to grind the last 10-20 levels that way? I'm seriously considering this right now lol

  • @SocialDistomancy said:

    afk wraith lol

Do you actually? I wouldn't mind doing it if it doesnt get me banned. But how much would I have to do this? I'd assume a couple hours each day for the next whatever days left

  • @chieften333 said:

Yeah, it's essentially like a second job.

Even with plenty of free time I struggle to complete the rift.

Hopefully the devs address the horrendous grind, but you know... it's BHVR.

I figured there might be some tricks outside "do all the challenges" , but guess not. Oh well.

Ifthey extended it by 15-20 days, that would be fine.

I think I disagree. I understand what you're saying, but in most chases what determines the killer landing hits is by employing mindgames against the survivor, and vise versa. If the players are of equal skill, it just comes down to who can predict the others movements first. And there are multiple killers who can take advantage of their powers in chase (nurse excluded) like doctor, demo, pyramid head, freddy, etc.

If you watch players like Zubatlel or OhTofu or Angrypug play, you'll see that 99% of the killers they face get their face smashed in by one player. Even if a killer downs a survivor, you just need to be good-ish to waste enoguh time to win.

  • They're the same playstyle repackaged. And bonus points that face campers drift towards them.

  • As a killer main, I am happy about moris too. They are a crutch. And that crutch has been replaced by ruin+undying. Don't need moris anymore.

  • @Rydog said:

I'm going to lay this out one last time, since it's moot and they implemented the exact mori change I have long been advocating for.

Old moris erase 1/3 of the killer's objectives. The red mori requires the killer to achieve 8 objectives instead of 12. From the moment the game loads, it just simply removes 4 of 12 objectives from the game. This is the most goalpost-moving mechanic in the entirety of Dead by Daylight. It is the equivalent of survivors starting a match with 2 of 5 generators already finished (assuming we count opening the door as 1 of 6 survivor objectives). The fact that it ever existed this way, especially when you really sit down and consider it in these terms, is mind-blowing.

Now, moris only work on survivors who have been hooked twice. This means:

    • It is still tactically strong because it can be used to shut down a lot of Decisive Strike and Unbreakable play.
    • It may conceivably save time spent walking to a hook for the final time.
    • It retains the cool thematic bit of the mori, which is the slasher kill animation.
    • It no longer drastically moves the goalposts of the match.

Now they just need to fix keys!

Mori also denies you BB&C proc..

I think it's pretty unfortunate it all depends on the nurses skill, and the survivor's skill isn't really applicable in chase. Considering the community's stance on her I doubt a change will come anytime soon.

To be fair, this means that the person has played loads with her. If a survivor has that much skill, he will be able to loop and destroy a killer all day every day...except Nurse.

Not a survivor main, but I'd rather go up against spirit than legion.

I'd honestly rather go up against either of them instead of a Hag or Trapper. I think playing one of those two could be the worst slap in the face towards the community.

  • Imma just start playing Spirit while I wait for my legion fix. Sorry survivor friends.

  • @Mandy said:

I believe that the speed was never the issue - he was actually the same speed as before but the FOV caused it to look much slower, so there looked like there was no speed increase during Frenzy

  • If it bothers you, just alt-tab and do something else for 2 minutes. It's not a big deal.

If the others are farming, you are as well doing it.

However, when a survivor knows its going to be a farming match beforehand and still stays despite knowing they have no intention of farming, that's pretty dam toxic .

When he throws his big axe in the ground he slows himself down. In this scenario you want to bait you go for the window or throw down the pallet. If he misses the range attack because he thought you committed to the window, you can get a lot of distance from him.

So Basically he has to guess you go for the window or not. If he is wrong, then you can go for another loop or 2 because he slows himself down when entering his power.

PH is a fine killer not too strong and not too weak.

Only bad PH do stuff like this. Good ones just wait until youre in animation and then throw it. Otherwise, they just walk up to you and m1. No counerplay involved.
