It's a middle-ground map for me, maybe a bit more on the lower end of things.
I don't get excited when I'm forced to play on it, but I'd never burn an offering to go there. It just is a map that causes a lot of boring gameplay, but I don't mind that too much. I would not delete the map if given the option.
And the map is nowhere near as confusing as the game. But the game is actually a fun map, despite being confusing.
-
The way I see it is tunneling is a great way to swing the game in your favor and possible "win". But, it is an unfun way to go about the game and is generally used if you are unskilled. This is a great way to climb the ranks, but you will never be as good of a killer as someone who does not want to tunnel. In the long run, it hurts you as you won't learn the tricks needed to become a better killer, as you rely on cheese strategies. And when you run into survivors who all run DS, you'll have a lot of issues/probably lose.
That said, I tend to pick 3 and only focus on them. This means that I might chase the 4th survivor if they are caught out, but I will never prioritize them. If there are 2+, I will only go for 1 of the 3 and force them to play super safe as death hook approaches. Before this, I would proxy camp hook a lot and tunnel a decent bit, but I noticed this held back my skill as a killer. I'm hoping one day I can improve to the point where I won't need to "assign" one survivor as my AVOID.
-
I only play solo queue when I play survivor (and I play survivor 75% of my 320 hours). I think it's boat loads of fun. Sure, you get ######### teammates. But learning how to do well that match despite them is part of the fun. Also, I think it's really fun to try to get loads of great skill checks, so being a gen ######### never bothered me. And the solo queue experience makes you a better survivor overall, I feel. I think I gotten much better at the game much more quickly than my friends who pretty much SWF their entire time.
Killer is loads of fun for me too, but it requires too much thinking 24/7 and this is taxing. Survivor is a bit more mindless as you can just m1 on a gen and just keep a lookout for where the killer might be. And only sometimes do you need to guess where your teammates are, but almost always it is better to just sit on a gen. Meanwhile, you always have to make sure you are applying pressure as killer or you just lose. It's so hard to play games for hours this way. I feel like I can play maybe 1-2 hours of killer before I have to switch to survivor. But I can play survivor 3-4 hours straight before I want a break.
-
Unbreakable is balance and only really seems "OP" when paired with DS. But even then, it's not such a problematic perk.

But if a a killer sees 2 or more med kits they can just switch to plague completely wasting all healing items and perks basically cool fun for killer , what is also cool if a survivor able to see " the shape " and all of them play an offering for mnt Ormond or red forest , instead of having to suffer through 10 minutes of scratch mirror at Gideon
I could see if they made super useful perks that hard target a killer like calm spirit vs a clown if you want to use it
But honestly until they remove how " generous" the hit box is on the survivor I think this change will is a good direction to making killers actually improve their skill instead of just being like I can M1 and whip my mouse and I'll hit anything or it's fine it he already touched the ground vaulting out the two story building the game will most likely give me the hit as long as I go for it lol
This should nto even exist to be honest. You should now be allowed to switch killers to counter what you see in the lobby. That ruins an aspect of the game. That's like survivors being able to see killers and if they bring moris. Survivors could all switch off their medkids if they see a Plague or legion, etc. It's good that BHVR is getting rid of this aspect of the game, so as to make a more fair and balanced queue overall.
-
They should just take the highest MMR and put them with a killer who is around there. If people want to SWF, it should be a challenge, not an easy win.

What if you're going up against a flashlight squad and the killer you picked doesn't have Lightborn or Franklin's?
Killers shouldn't even be shown survivors prior to the match anyways. It's so silly that they can even see survivor's items.
It should just load you right into a game.
-
I enjoy solo queue survivor. I feel like it makes me a better player because of all the ######### I put up with. I think if you can get good at being a solo queue survivor, you'd be a good asset to any SWF team. Also, I am used to adapting from playing bot lane in league and support in OW, so I guess it just bothers me less.
I think recently hit red ranks killer is a much worse experience, as you are bombarded with nonstop SWF and have no idea how to handle them.
-
These posts are getting tired.
-
Survivors need combos like DS+Unbreakable because the way some killers play. But some killers play that way because the way SWF treat them.

The problem is that it's only being implemented for killers. Quick switching has always been a problem, and now that the Devs have implemented a system that locks characters... It only locks the killers. Survivors can still quick switch to whatever broken item they want, on whatever broken skin they want, and not give killers any time to react. It just feels kind of unfair, especially when you add in the cheating software that lets survivors see what killer they are going against.
At least killers get a heads up ...
I'd love to know when someone is bringing a mori into the game.

I want to know if all killers mmr will be set at 0 initially, so it starts basically at rank 20, or will it take into account your current skill based on X amount of previous matches.
If everyone starts at 0 then newbies are going to have a rough time for a week or two.
No matter what happens, games will be a mess for awhile until things get sorted out.

Yeah it's a trend youtubers came up with.
When I play survivor I'll give you 2 choices. You either let me unhook you (I also bring borrowed) or you try to unhook yourself.
You can't have both, you have to chose. I'll turn around and walk away or let you go into 2nd stage.
This is so petty.
-
I had THREE games last night where survivors let me get to struggle hook. Soloing can be a real bummer sometimes.
-
Honestly, just because an MMR system comes out does not mean that it will become more competitive. Competitive people already exist in the game and there is a meta (just look at the perks and killer tier lists). You can just choose to ignore it and play in whichever way you find enjoyable. It's not a big deal.
We also don't know if they will show us our MMR or not. If they don't, it for sure won't be competitive, as no one will see themselves going up or down in MMR.
An MMR system will fix a lot of the matchmaking problems. And I know people here cry about how the chaos of it makes games fun or you have Scott Jung who talks about how killers need that one ######### player so they can tunnel them out of the game to even have a chance. But having people of equal skill level will make more games more fun. I won't have to queue up and sit through a 15 minute game with a baby killer that essentially becomes a farmfest. Nor will I have to deal with baby survivors as teammates. I'll also be given the chance to practice different killers instead of feeling like I am stuck on whoever I can play at my current skill cap.
Also, the higher up in MMR you go, the less chances you are to have "farm" games. And those type of games are not fun at all. I understand why they exist (because the grind in this game is a mess). But when I log in to play, I want to actually play the game.

this is not worth it, if the dev's are gonna lock us into a killer now in lobby. Going against a bunch of flashlights with hag is not fun.
Besides, most killers all share the fundemental basics of the game. So i really don't think this system is necesarry at all. I think this system will make most average killers experience even worse.
And lets not even bring up how people can cheat and see the killer in the lobby bringing items to counter them. I have seen them all switch to flashlights when i go hag
You can just dodge the match then if you see a lobby you do not want to go up against. It's not that deep.
-
I hope not. This game is marketed to be casual and a good push towards that would be to lock MMR behind an invisible wall.

Dude it's just imposible play survivor cause someone get down and them dc like #########!!!!
It's probably because you play Freddy, the most hated killer at the moment. If you play a more fun killer to face, you'd probably have less dc's.

@SavouryRain said:
They literally gave what killers wanted, and now killers are mad.
How else did you expect to be able to practice your worse killers other than not being able to switch off? Also, all these people saying they're going to get 4 man SWFs all the time on their bad killers... No, you really won't. You only see the 4 man god squad at red ranks (or at high skill), so if you're bad at a killer, you have almost no chance of playing against that.
Not killers. Just a small portion of them. There's always going to be a vocal minority.

The pros outweigh the cons.

Hope.
So many killers get baited by it, I love it.

Exactly. If a 2k is a win, why doesn't that alone net a pip? lol.
Sure doesn't feel like a win.
I don't think 2k is a win for killer. It's a draw. It shouldn't net a pip if we are just discussing kills alone. But honestly, the entire system is so trash that it makes the games feel very robotic if you want to pip, especially as a survivor.

"What "animations" should your killer(s) have?" - This is not a petition, but a "if they were added, what should the animation be".
Yeah and my response is, they don't need to be added. So no need to even address the if. Stop trying to find reasons to be a d'bag.
-
I heard tru3 always say this and act like it's such a good idea. But I think that 99% gates encourages altruism. Otherwise, every solo survivor will just leave the moment they can open the gates and the facecamping killer will get a kill.

SoloQ is awfull and most times you'll die, but considering how points and rank work on survivor you'll be fine. I reach rank 1 as survivor without even being able to escape in most games.
What triggers me a lot is that when I play Killer I play against a 4 coordinated and god gen rushers survivors, but when I'm playing SoloSurvivor and the killer is chasing me for an entire 2 minutes, only 1 gen pops. That freaks me out.
Wish I knew what the feeling of being able to hold a chase for 2 minutes was like ):. I want this level of frustration.
-
I don't see the need for killers to have gestures. They don't need to communicate to anyone and if it were to be added, it would just add another layer of bm.

As solo survivor I think I die in 8 of 10 games, but I get pip in all of them. Have to clarify that I like to play for fun and have challenges so I don't use DS or DH.
I have no idea how you never play with hope. Some days I will have absolute d-bag killers and run DS for the next while. And then I'll eventually miss hope (or quick and quiet) and switch it out for that until I encounter a string (2-3) of killers than push me back into my DS stage.

If we asume that the win means a pip, 2k is never a win for the Killer. Its impossible to pip with 2k, even 3k and 4k sometimes you just stay on same rank. Its crazy.
This. The game ingrains in you the need to 4k. In order to get +2 pip you need to 4k. No if ands or butts. And getting +1 requires ~3k.

Survivors cant ever be skill based because their skills also rely on their teammates. A ######### teammate can make even the best survivor player ruin their game. Because a smart killer goes for the weaker link and this way their team crumbles.
Looking at the meg that blow up a gen that was 80% twice and put it at 50%. And then literally a couple minutes later came over to the gen I was working on and blow that one up. Some people can't even press m1 and space correctly. I don't want to make it harder for them lmao
-
They should just make it so that there is a penalty for queueing up with more people. Like make gen progress slower depending on the number of people in your SWF and make it extremely discouraging to 4 stack. A duo? -5% Trio? -15% 4-stack? -30%. But don't punish two SWF duos for getting paired together. If that happens, it should still just be -5%
This way, it gives the killer a chance to make stuff happen while encouraging SWF will big parties to communicate to overcome the penalty.
-
@isilmerel said:
This could be solved with a casual mode (rainbow ranks/swfs) and ranked mode (limited ranks/swfs need to be closer in rank).
Ranked mode just restricts ranks in the party (which would result in longer queues). Red ranks only match with 1 rank up/down. Purple within 2 ranks. Green, Yellow, Gray within 3 ranks.
Casual mode gets half BP. Ranked mode gets full BP. That way, at least people who want to swf with rainbow rank friends and still progress their characters can have their fun games, ranked can be left to sweaty players.
That's just my opinion, anyway.
If there is a ranked mode, I pray they never allow any SWFs in. Even duos would be iffy. Make it purely a solo experience.
-
I feel you. I got to rank 3 playing only Nurse. I find myself getting bored and wanting to try out other killers, but when I play other things I enjoy I get smashed. I don't mind the toxic survivors, hell sometimes I even enjoy them because they GIVE me opportunities to practice more often than not (they'll try to get chased and stick around past the gates being open). I'll take teabags for that. But I hate how rushed the game gets and I feel like I have no opportunity to even do anything. I had to stop playing hag and legion because, even though they interest me, the experience has been not the most fun. Hell, I even tried to learn Spirit and suck (can confirm that the "easy 4k" circlejerk is an absolute falsity). That said, I understand why each killer doesn't have their own rank, as going up against people rank 20-11 would not be fun for either party.
I plan to just AFK wraith before ranked reset next month and get myself down to rank 5, so I can reset down much further.

I can see myself playing this game for a long time and always coming back to it during the periods that I take off from gaming/get bored, kind of like how league is for me.
I also like that it is not an intensely competitive game, as that really ruins some of the fun for me over time.
Also, I'm glad I'm one of the few people who seem to think that the balance is pretty good. It's not really survivor or killer sided to me, until you run up against SWFs and than it feels very survivor sided. Overall, I have loads of fun playing both sides without getting overly frustrated.
-
Honestly, a couple of these are very necessary. Like DS. I cannot tell you how many times killers try to tunnel you out this game and DS prevents that.

He's fun to play against. Even when he smashes, it does not feel frustrating in a way that Freddy does.

I'm also bad at mindgames both as killer and survivor. But it doesn't concern me that much. There's definitely a room for improvement 😉
Watch some video guides about looping, it might help a bit.
I do, but it's much more difficult than people make it seem.
-
@Yogerman1997 said:
F then...
also, is not just looping, you also need do some mindgames like fake a window vault, or even risky don't drop some pallets because maybe the killer don't expect it and hit the air.
I mean, this stuff is all extremely basic. I've learnt that. It's still difficult (even though I am red ranks).
-
Here's my tier list.
I'd rate freddie significantly more frustrating/unfun than spirit. But I'll let them share a category, even though she sits closer to "unfun" than Freddie's category.
Some of the "meh" categories have unfun aspects (e.g. Pig's RNG or Deathslingers ability to close the gap and m1 while you are busy trying to dodge or Hag's tendency to camp hooks/basement/3gens), but overall their unfun aspects don't make the round feel like a pain in the ass (unless they are a good player, but a good player will make any round hellish).
Legion is the only killer I was a bit confused on how I rank him. Some days I absolutely do not feel like dealing with a Legion and other days I think it's fun to try to loop him. I always feel polarized, but more often than not I think it is fun to verse one.

I disagree. I have no issues scoring as many points as the killer does in my matches and sometimes more. I don't think it needs to be easier for survivors to gain bps. Now comparing wglf and bbq yeah i agree completely. wglf offers no incentive other than bps and is usually not run in favor of perks that will at least do something for you in the game.
On average, most survivors will get 14-20k, whereas killers will be upper 20s. It's problematic.
-
@goatslinger said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1448027#Comment_1448027
So we are talking about bbq then and not just the base bps from each side?
The fact that BBQ is such an amazing perk that 9/10 a killer will run it, means we're talking abut both. Survivors need to have an easier time hitting the 32k OR WGLF needs a buff. Both of these are preferable, but one of them should be a no-brainer change already.

Same with the killer, sometimes survivors straight up DC or you get a SWF who gen rushes and ends the game in less than 5 min.
This happens a lot less frequently on the killer's side. And most people who d/c, don't do it on first hook (although it does happen). So you will get the BBQ modifier. And d/cs also affect survivors gains too, as they will probably gain less that match because it will end faster. Same goes for gen rushing.
-
@goatslinger said:
To the people that feel killers get so many more bloodpoints than survivor I honestly have to know....what the hell do you do all game?
For starters, killers get +100% most games. Most survivors don't run WGLF. Regardless of what you do now, the grind is cut in 1/2 for killers.

The problem is killers gain more BP on average due to add-ons for killers being available ONLY in the bloodweb. As a killer you have to spend more BP on average to keep your add-on stock supplied.
Survivors can get free items from chests or other survivors during a match. They can also get add-ons using a single perk. They even have a perk that allows them to get high rarity stuff. For this reason you can essentially get anything you want for free.
While I agree that the grind in DBD is bad (getting a little better with challenges from rift giving BP) taking survivor BP gain up to the equivalent of killer would feel bad as a killer player. Again they gain more on average because they have to spend more on average.
People who argue that survivors should not get the same BP as killers because of reasons are so problematic. It literally does not take anything away from killer. It only adds to survivor side of things.
-
@Flyguy115 said:
i dont really see how them balancing out the blood points between survivors and killers makes you want to purchase more auric cells. also i think it is fair that killers get more BP because they NEED (keyword) addons to be good(id say the majority are addon reliant) whereas survivors dont need items to escape.
Because I am not going to buy cosmetics when I want to P3-50 + perk deck out a character before I even consider purchasing a skin. Less of a grind would get me there faster, so I'd want a skin for that character more (as I will play as them more often).
-
@DecemberMan said:
Guys, he never said to nerf killer BP gains. He suggested to increase Survivor BP gains with which I can agree to an extent.
This. I don't know if I was unclear, but I suggested making the overall grindless. This is done by upping the survivor's side to be on par with the killer's.
