90% of loops that survivors claim are unsafe are actually pretty safe. They just make mistakes, which is really the only way you win as killer.
-
That boring perk stops 2 gens from going in the first minute.

I've seen Artist players hit people on higher structures by using the slopes on the Swamp Maps. The crow hitbox is actually quite forgiving.
Not when you look at the missed hit detection range. I've seen people from a distance and shot a crow straight at them, and they barely had to dodge for it to miss AND they completely avoid the killer's instinct.

Really grasping for straws here
The lesser talked-about things often reveal bad game design, as is the case here.

tbh I never heard anyone complain about hooks being destroyed. And destroying basement hooks would be redundant as there are 4 of them. So what?
Where did you get the information that it is to avoid camping? Killers camp the survivor, not the hook. Doesn't matter which hook they are on
And I seriously don't think that "hook management" is something hard to do. You pick up survivors often enough to get an idea of hook spawning. If after 5-6 hooks and the first sacrifice "all of a sudden" you notice that you cant hook the next survivor, then you messed up way earlier. And honestly I never faced a "lets force a hook deadzone" squad so far
Loads of people complain. You don't hear them because their complaints get drowned out by all the survivor complaints.
The devs haven't said that it's to avoid camping, to my knowledge. But survivors have said it to justify its existence (or at least they tried* to justify it). Nothing you've said has really justified its existence either.
This is exactly like the 360ing conversation. Yes, at a certain point you just play around it, but you're inserting "phony skill" into places where it's not necessary. Phony skill is something that takes practice or game knowledge, but it's to play around something that shouldn't be a thing in the first place. This even applies to DS having a skill check.
Anyway, I never said SWFs abuse this. That was someone else. I'm saying any survivor can abuse this, even unknowingly, because it's bad design. You're actively punished for hooking survivors as killer even though it's your main objective. And the counterplay to this is slugging, which gives an opportunity for someone to come and pick them up, even though they should have been hooked instead. It's not very fair, is it?
-
Because you can't win the game that way. You have to already be in an advantageous position to successfully defend a 3-gen. It has to be a 3v1 or a 2v1 already, otherwise the survivors just win the war of attrition. And if you're selecting an area from the start of the game to defend, you're probably focused more on that than tunneling someone out so that a 3-gen is even feasible later on. Getting a good 3-gen is just based on luck, really.
-
I keep asking out loud, "Where's MY rollback, game?" Because I'm dealing with it so much when I play killer. Why not when I'm a survivor?
-
Side thought, but this will probably please those people who think raising the BP cap is a bad idea. Their reasoning is "the devs want people to play when the new chapter comes out, not just a bunch before". It's an interesting albeit bewildering discussion.

You’re gonna feel dumb when you look at the date that was posted, bud.
I noticed afterwards. Still, the fact that they ever said this about Wraith is crazy.

Hangman's trick should let hooks used for sacrifice come back again. I'm not sure why they would ever change that, it's already a trash perk.
Assuming the hooks aren't terribly spaced out, you can actually get a lot of good info from Hangman's. It's still a less consistent BBQ though.

@CryptFriend said:
People do call for basement to be reworked, actually.
Opinion: If you can't manage hook loss, it's a you problem, and not a game problem.
Hooks getting destroyed upon sacrifice is a mechanic designed to make killers put thought into where and when they sacrifice survivors.
Is it outdated? I doubt it.
How is it my fault if survivors just so happen to go down in the same area, and now I can't hook the other 1 or 2 because there are no hooks nearby? Should killers be forced to run Agitation or think twice before every hook "I might need this hook for later". That's extra pressure on the killer that they absolutely do not need. It's a resource management game that doesn't need to be there.
-

It's especially annoying as (while rare), there are survivors where all they do is run into the areas with the now broken hooks (and given some of the maps and sometimes awful RNG luck, you can get areas where ONLY one hook is available to you).
It doesn't happen enough where I'm going to get my pitchfork out and demand that BHVR changes the mechanic but it does seem silly now to have that kind of a mechanic. Maybe there is a really good reason for it though and I just don't know it...
Yeah it mostly happens at the end when you've hooked 2 or 3 people in the same corner of the map, and now you're at the last survivor's mercy for whether they let you get a hook or not. That should absolutely be another sacrifice, but because they abused the hook dead zone, you lose all sacrifice points on that survivor as they bleed out. I don't think it's okay. It's actually a really bad design flaw, like "how did this even survive the beta in this state?" kind of stuff.
-
@Sepex said:
It's also worse when you sacrifice a survivor on a Scourge hook and lose it permanently. Avoidable yes but sometimes we forget.
And some will argue "if your scourge hook gets destroyed, that's okay because you have 3 more and now it's a 3v1". Small comfort for killers who just lost their only close-by scourge hook, and now have little or no gen defence.
-
Scratched Mirror because it's more boring for survivors to go against.

He doesn't fit the usual formula killers fill in this game. He is able to sneak up on survivors and, in many cases, completely mitigate chases, especially with a hit-and-run tactic. He is actually a strong killer because of this, though there will be many who try to convince you otherwise. Because he is such a stealthy boi, people will get frustrated and whine. SO, to answer your question, no, you aren't toxic or nooby playing playing as him. He's just a fantastically malicious bing bong boy.
Wraith has been nerfed, and CoH is a thing. You make it sound like he's as strong as he was a year ago. He's nothing.

We mean when MoM came out. When it originally just came out with Ash the condition was to just get injured, after 3 injure hits you had MoM so basicly there was no counterplay to it, you just got a free healthstate every game without doing anything. Except if the Killer plays a insta down killer or a non basic attack Killer like Legion, Nurse, Huntress etc.
That makes more sense now. So not even protection hits. If you just took a hit, that's a stack for you? Yeah, that's really dumb design, even for DBD standards.
-
I just wish they would make killer hitboxes consistent. Make them huge or make them tiny, but choose one.
-
Coup De Grace and Fire Up. Why are they based on you losing gens?
Distortion. Why does it have tokens you can never get back?
-
It is broken. I don't care if Tombstone is weaker than Tombstone piece. The ability to mori someone without even hooking them is just broken, and that's what Sadako is all about, not that she's gonna be OP.
It just shows tone deafness towards balancing. Killers play really well with any other killer and struggle to get 1 kill, but others slap these OP add-ons on a baseline weak killer and get at least that many kills pretty much guaranteed because you don't know he has it til the first insta-mori happens.
It's not even like Pinky Finger or Engineer's Fang (two undeserved nerfs) where it just makes the killer stronger, which is what an add-on are supposed to do. Those gave downs because of the add-on, but also required playing well (not necessarily OP). Tombstone gives kills* because of the add-on, and doesn't require playing well (definitely OP).
-
Old MoM was only a problem because of instaheals. Otherwise, 2 protection hits back then was a fine activation condition. And I was gonna suggest reverting the nerf. But then boons came, so now if we were to revert the nerf, MoM would be OP again.
-
Before and after the nerf, almost never saw her.

its been happening alot. but i see it mostly on the yamaoka map
For sure. I can't think of any other map where it's as prevalent, except for the trees on swamp near the docks thing.
-
Killer issue. Will be addressed in 3 more years.
-
It's been doing this for like a year now. Like when those trees will spawn like 3 feet from the exit handle.
-
Boons in general do that.

Just run DS and BT.

I did not know that. I don't care, I still want it back!
They can do both. Just don't make a survivor moving fast while crawling disable the killer from using a mori.
-
Just run DS and BT.
-
It's every game for me, but it never ends up mattering.
-
MMR should be individual to each killer. If a killer can smurf that way, oh well. It's not worth making the game worse for everyone else who isn't intending to do that.
-
Probably an exhaustion one or a no blood one.

I cant tell you how many times I've had a survivor dead to rights and they move just a little bit and for some reason auto aim though that rock should be my target.
I play on console btw.
We feel you. I think that's part of the reason why PC killers just think we're bad.
-
@Huge_Bush said:
I just want them to bring back spinning while in the dying state. It was nice to do while I was bored while being slugged.
It made doing a mori a chore. You had to wait til they were still or just have lucky timing.
-
Completely agree. There was nothing wrong with the new animations, and 360ing should not be a thing. But like most positive changes that come to the game, people just wanna cry to get it taken away. And I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like it's all the stuff that helps killers that gets taken away.
-
What recent development HASN'T been a bad sign for the future of the game?
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
Fun fact, if someone has wiggle set to skill checks it actually messes with the timing
That's messed up.
-
People who want dark maps back want form over function. They see nothing wrong, I guess, with Claudette hiding in plain sight just because the ground is dark. Did you guys ever even play killer when maps were super dark? With most of these newer maps, survivors can't just disappear mid-chase with Iron Will, which is one of the greatest improvements the game has ever had.
-
We also have to deal with the devs as a third party. With any other dev team, both survivors and killers would have their complaints addressed and they'd be satisfied. But because this is BHVR, if we nerf killers they're getting nerfed hard, and if we buff survivors they're getting buffed hard. Can't do about it, nothing.
-
Survivors have no right to complain about killers in general being stronger. Infinite tier 3 Myers, Nurse, Leatherface sure. Those are niche scenarios that you can't do anything in. But beyond that, killer is like a second job. You won't catch me dead playing "chill" with killer.
-
@EntitySpawn said:
Wont catch many fish with this I'm afraid.
And if you're serious I apologise for the things you'll have to go through in the future, you should definitely main killer with it being so easy
Yeah man killer is so easy right now you have no idea. It's why I only play 3-4 of them every time I get on. I'm like eating and on the phone and stuff. The game just plays itself! 🤣
-
Not even with camping. Just in general, survivors never want to do gens, unless you're the killer.

Spirit is most definitely still top 3.
How can you say that? Unless you're using Dried Cherry Blossom/Mother-Daughter Ring? And honestly those add-ons don't need the scratch marks taken away.

Ok well at 130% MS almost every loop in the game becomes unsafe and you are typically running it on instadown killers to boot. My tombstone myers build is running around with an 8m terror radius and an instakill on top of it.
The only counter is a god pallet right next to you and if those are already gone, they don't exist on your map, or you are not right next to one it's not realistically counterable. I usually moonwalk to the gens when my Tinkerer procs too.
Lethal is great. No other perk in the game has you getting downs in under 10 seconds into the match. Double range nurse can usually hit someone in her first blink. Same with discordance, it shows you where to go 2 seconds into the match some games; and then provides constant information beyond that.
If you wanna go all the way and say Corrupt and Deadlock are good perks, then ill go and say they are all trash compared to Rancor / No way out builds. 5 gens to tunnel someone, then you down and stand on top of the obsession and rancor them as gen #5 gets done. No way out holds the door for the 3k. It's literally the best build and strategy in the game for every single killer, and it's banned in tournaments. Does that mean i'm running it every game? No, it's boring. Strong play can compensate for perks on any killer that can outplay a survivor at a safe pallet.
But you're going on the assumption the obsession is just gonna feed you PWYF stacks over and over. And even if they do, do you know how much time that wastes on your end? The gens might be almost all done by the time you start doing chases for real.
-
@Mat_Sella said:
Discordance: Once someone is dead, you know exactly where to put pressure. Hook a second survivor and you know just how fast the game is going and potentially where the other survivors are. This perk is much better than you give it credit for because you arent thinking of the proper ways to use it. Its equally about where survivors are as to where they aren't.
How are you gonna capitalize on it though? You're acting like killing a survivor off early is a granted. When there's 4 survivors, or 3 even, what's it matter if you know where they are if the inevitable chase is gonna cost you the game anyway? You guys don't give survivors near enough credit.
-
Just run both pinks.

I think there is some decent merit to Enduring by itself. It definitely enables a very confident playstyle that occasionally catches greedy survivors off guard. I actually run it on almost all my M1 killers and alot of people will greed a pallet thinking I am going to respect it.
Especially on M1 killers, against good survivors you WILL be eating a ton of pallets. The looping will be so tight there isn't any other option other than respecting and probably allowing the survivor to get extra loops.
There's also a few killers who do just get straight up hits because of brutal strength. Clown and Pinhead come to mind. You hit them with a slow, break the pallet, and then usually get a hit if you zoned them to the correct side.
PWYF is also the king of chase perks and allows totally uncounterable downs, assuming you can handle the time constraints it puts on you.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2832575#Comment_2832575
I play low tier killers at an MMR where the gens can get done in 3-4 minutes. I'm tunneling every game, thanks.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2832640#Comment_2832640
Corrupt is overhyped too. It is very map dependent and in some cases might as well not even be a perk. Survivors can still all spawn right on top of generators with it equipped, although it is less likely. High mobility killers I use discordance or lethal pursuer instead for the early game. And yeah 8 stacks is strong, but it's still M1 attacks. You will only get multiple M1 hits in succession if the survivors allow it or you are facecamping.
There's no such thing as uncounterable downs, except maybe with Nurse. Lethal Pursuer and Discordance are a joke because they're just info. Info perks are highly overrated for killer, and they might as well not be there.
-
Nurse will always be at the top because she's broken. Spirit is definitely not top 3 anymore. Blight, I consider not to be on Nurse's level. So basically only Nurse is S tier. Blight is 2nd strongest in A tier, and Spirit I don't know where to place. B tier? C tier? Definitely only A tier with her best pink/purple add-ons.
-
Actually he's been nerfed hard in recent times. You shouldn't be losing to Wraith.

Don't forget there is only 4 perk slots as well. Sure it's cool we got 25 different gen defence perks but you can only have 4 perks at a time plus they are balanced around the idea you can have multiple gen perks so it then makes it so you have to equip multiple gen perks for then to be effective.
Yes. Survivors make it sound like there's a new gen defence perk, so suddenly killers get a 5th slot. No, we have to swap out an old perk to use the new one.
-
@GeneralV said:
Not exactly.
The only thing you said on this entire post, is that those perks will not be as powerful as they usually are when Survivors play the game as effectively as possible.
The thing is, no one, NO ONE, gets trials like that every time. Unwinnable situations are extremely rare scenarios, and that "extremely" deserves a huge emphasis.
In conclusion, those perks will give you the effect you need on the absolute majority of your trials.
No, you will not get to use them a majority of the time. Survivors that are below top of the top also know how to finish gens in your face or destroy hexes. My complaint is that you don't have to be an unbeatable team to beat a really good killer. Just be quick on gens.
