  • I'd leave two traps once I went to the far end of the map to get my power but the game doesn't let me put two traps together?!

So if it's an all solo lobby, no-one gets Kindred; if there's a solo/s with a SWF in the lobby, the solo/s get Kindred? To be fair, I've heard worse. From what I've seen, most people wouldn't be against a no-Killer-aura version of Kindred just being basekit at this point anyway.

Just been in a game and had to leave my gen two times to run to unhook someone, only to find someone unhooking just before me.

After game they told me just do gens and not to bother unhooking, I asked why didn't they just tell whoever in their 3 man swf to turn around and they said for the points!!! :)

Finished bottom of points table that game

While I understand you I don't think bringing up Rainbow Flags helps this case at all. Marginalized groups are not in a competition with eachother and they shouldn't be compared.

That being said, there should always be room for more representation and I really hope your request comes true!

I do not understand what you are saying about Rainbow flags as most of this looks like a customer care template response without addressing the post but thank you for the nice words.

Having a BHVR artist develop a flag / token would be easy to do but for some reason hasn't been done, an example:

However I feel there voice for families with disabilities is drowned out with their work needed for day to day life, as we have seen before it takes many many hours of discussion to evenutally be brought to fruition in our game.

If you want to suggest a way to avoid matching with specific players, you are welcome to open a thread in our Feedback and Suggestions section.

Thanks for the reply @Rizzo but this is obvious and should have been a feature in the implementation of being able to have anonymity. I hoped that was what 'BLOCK' was as I can hide chat

  • Wait... someone has moved this to feedback and suggestions. I posted this in Discussion to query the community

  • @Rizzo said:

The block option in game is to block communications, not to avoid matching with a player.

Then there is no way to avoid someone wishing to remain anonymous from constantly lowering their mmr and ruin the game for everyone else?

  • Nobody knows then... guess I'll post this under suggestions to something that previously existed but for some reason isn't possible any more?

For really strong SWFs having four insane players on one team is the main strength. That and they are playing to win. The main reason solo queue is so weak is because all it takes is one weak survivor for the killer to get an easy win. It's a big part of why tunneling is so strong. There's also tons of people who throw for archives in solo. This doesn't happen in a SWF that is playing to win.

Not sure if this is relevant, we are talking about improving the balancing of DBD by introducing communications in game

  • @Stroggz said:

People tend to not use it. In Overwatch MMR from 800 to 2500 was completely silent when I played it. Even if there were some communicating players they were 2-3 people premade group who talked in team chat.

Fast command chat where you press button and choose a phrase like "go", "save", "heal me" would be nice here.

Not sure if you have a point? We already have physical keys/buttons for "go"/"save" or bobbing for heal me etc?

Giving the community communications for all would obviously be benficial to a fairer game and only BHVR are able to see how many games a 2/3/4 man SWF play in

  • @crogers271 said:

DbD shouldn't be a game with comms. Whatever theme it has left of a horror game doesn't work if you can constantly be talking to your team.

Yes, SWFs use them, yes its a disadvantage to Killers, but they are a smaller portion of the player base.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3548364#Comment_3548364

But I really think this is the main strength of SWF. What else is it, do you think?

1: You never have to have a "bad" teammate.

2: You can build the team to do specific things. Example: a player with deliverance, an anti-tunnel, etc.

3: Everyone plays for the team.

That's the argument I've heard at least from comp teams, never played SWF.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/392331/allow-communications-and-opt-out-in-the-actual-game-so-to-balance-around-discord-level-not-solo

Once it is optional we can then have a fair fun game for all, why haven't DBD done this already like other games?

    Because DbD is asymmetrical.

If you are playing a 5 v 5 game and, on average, two people on your team use comms then, on average, 2 people on the other team will use comms.

Giving comms to all survivors would be a buff, but we don't know how many survivors would make use of that buff. So BHVR would have a few choices:

1: Balance around the assumption that 4 players are always in communication. If so, the players not using this feature have in fact received a massive nerf.

2: Make no balance change until they see how the feature goes. Which creates the possibility that very few players use it, requiring no balance adjustments, but actually making the game harder for killers because there is now occasional communication.

--I think this scenario is much more likely than people anticipate. BHVR has to balance for a worldwide market which, as mentioned by others, doesn't share the same language. If the feature sees very small use around the world, buffing killers wouldn't make sense, even if killers were now being massacred on certain servers.

"DbD shouldn't be a game with comms. Whatever theme it has left of a horror game doesn't work if you can constantly be talking to your team."

What can I say, people use communication software and causes an unfair advantage in the game.

"Yes, SWFs use them, yes its a disadvantage to Killers, but they are a smaller portion of the player base."

Please prove they are a small portion of the player base as they are not a small portion, far from it. Also it affects other survivors.

"Once it is optional we can then have a fair fun game for all, why haven't DBD done this already like other games?

    Because DbD is asymmetrical."

That is not a reason, other comments after this have already been addressed including players who play solo survivors and killer are unable to opt-out of players having unfair advantage on communications rather than players have the choice to opt-out of communications which is understanable for it to be more fairly balanced for all.

  • @Feneroe said:

Comms will not magically make people actually communicate and work together as a team, which is a premade's strength. It's way more likely most people won't use it and most of the ones that do will use it to insult and be toxic to their teammates.

Those are very negative thoughts you have posted but useful when you look at how extreme they are.

Once communications in game are introduced people who wish to work as a team will work as a team, those that wish to be toxic will find themselves playing with others similar. The toxic will then find themselves in lower ranks and will have to decide upon lifes choices at that point.

  • @Annso_x said:

Wanting in-game comms is basically asking for the game to be balanced around swf while we let die solo q die in a corner, so no thank you.

Also, comms wouldn't even fix the balance issues between swf and solo q.

"Wanting in-game comms is basically asking for the game to be balanced around swf while we let die solo q die in a corner"

Not at all, solo queue become more power, create new friends and the game balance issues improves tenfold.

"Also, comms wouldn't even fix the balance issues between swf and solo q."

BHVR are already improving things by heading towards playing with the last survivors from the last game, nothing is a silver bullet but this is also helps create a fair and balanced game.

  • @Kaitsja said:

Texas Chainsaw has built-in comms for both Victims and Family, and guess what? There is a massive divide between those who do use comms and those who don't. The game is significantly harder for those without, and significantly easier for those with. It's a balancing nightmare.

Please read comments above but I'm afraid the balancing nightmare is current, this idea is not the problem.

If you look at the question posed above and revert it then you see that players playing killer or solo survivor already have this problem but they have no easy option in game to opt in or out.

So would you have the option to not choose the match being balanced around the voice com? Because if not, you are at a severe disadvantage if you do opt out, or cant use it. So much so that i would expect to see the game simply dying in europe.

Because if you balance the game to have a 62% kill rate vs swf or com users, what do you think the kill rate would be for people not using it?

"So would you have the option to not choose the match being balanced around the voice com? Because if not, you are at a severe disadvantage if you do opt out, or cant use it."

If you opt out you lose advantages of communications but that is your choice. As things stand there is no choice and the players suffering are players who play against swfs who use communications and do not have a choice nor any information about who are a swf, this is far worse.

"So much so that i would expect to see the game simply dying in europe."

Perhaps you don't like other people speaking another language but as previously mentioned you could select matchmaking languages you understand and the game will find you a game quite easily.

"Because if you balance the game to have a 62% kill rate vs swf or com users, what do you think the kill rate would be for people not using it?"

Whether it is 62% kill rate or a 42% kill rate this is to do with balance and this suggestion is to help that, to help with balance?

After all, we all want to have a fair balanced game don't we?

You've got a point there. I play on Europe as well, can't read the cyrillic letters. Also it seems, many people don't speak english very well. When it comes to writing, it is okay for most people. But talking and understanding english to and from people whose native language is not english, is hard. Maybe this is one of the reasons, voice chat isn't already implemented in the game?

A solution to this would be to spread the Server/Regions more. But this would make the waiting times for matches very long I guess.

Seems there is no simple way to fix these issues 😕

Easy (sorry just copy and pasting answer above)

"There are many languages but I would love to have some communication to develop my french, spanish, russian and vice-vera.

If things became a problem perhaps we could have languages accepted to play with or spoken for matchmaking, not really a problem"

  • @Evan_ said:

You can google 'translate image' to find sites that do just that.

"Win + shift + s" allows you to copy only the chat-box, and paste it directly into those sites.

More awkward with access to the text seemingly more easy, but a nice solution @Evan_ thank you! :)

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Baffling that some people still think that communication is the main strength of SWFs. Adding Comms into the game would not really change the balance between Solos and SWFs.

Confusing comment as this isn't what was said in the OP but it is an advantage and once fixed helps bring balance and fun for players on both sides.

I feel people are missing that I keep saying it is optional, isn't it better to have the option rather than not?

  • @sulaiman said:

That might be good in the us, but here in europe, i often play with russians, with whom i dont even share a common alphabet. You have lots of people in europe that dont speak english, and there is no way to communicate with them even with an ingame voice chat. That means you would just throw those people under the bus, because you balanced the game for a level they cant play it on.

No, i think it would do way more harm.

I still think its better to seperate swf and solo queue and balance both seperatly.

Kind of a negative view on this but I'm sure it could be argued that to have the option but not choose it is far better.

There are many languages but I would love to have some communication to develop my french, spanish, russian and vice-vera.

  • @Farya said:

I am one of those persons who would rather mute most of the times, but still I think this is a reasonable suggestion. Since this game will never get rid of comms/swf who communicate over voice which is giving the killer a hard time, bhvr should at least add this to the game, too. But clearly not without balanceing the killer around this afterwards. If they would just add this without further changes, things would get even worse.

The big gap between playing against a Soloqueue Survivor Team or playing against a group who use voice is what has always annoyed me the most at this game as a killer. The Infos Survivors get on the HUD nowadays (who of your mates is doing what) is already a step in the right direction, but it is still not enough to close the gap between swf and solo.

Well said, when I also play solo survivor it is obvious sometimes how much easier it is to play with a good SWF who are using communications when it should be more of a challenge.

  • @Xernoton said:

You can't simultaneously balance for people, who do and don't use this feature. And honestly, I wouldn't use it. I don't need to listen to some 13 year old screaming a bunch of slurs into their vacuum cleaner.

Even, if it wasn't used for slurs, you'd still have people screaming at their team mates every game. I mean, just look around. How many complaints are there about bad solo queue team mates?

The next problem is, that this would need to come with compensatory measures to keep killers in a good spot. Because communication means a considerable advantage. And frankly, there is no way to balance around that without making the game a slog in the process.

You raised issues already covered in original post.

The point is it should be an option available.

It currently is an unfair advantage on players who play against this and solo survivors can also feel cheated

Be real about it made for this by itself isn't broken it's the stacking haste thats annoying people, survivor shouldnt be able to stack past 15% but I honestly havent had an issue with that because it requires multiple survivors off gens to pull it off properly which in turn throws the game to make it happen, if you're getting outplayed with made for this alone it's a skill issue and not only that but there are perks that can directly counter it due to the exhaustion stopping it from being active, people acting helpless on here are the same ones who have a problem with anything BHVR does it'll never change no matter what they do.

"Be real about it made for this by itself isn't broken" - Yes it is. I find that survivors who become injuried are stronger with perks... how on earth should this be possible?

"it's the stacking haste thats annoying people, survivor shouldnt be able to stack past 15%" - Nothing to do with stacking, loops were designed for years/months ago for certain speeds.

" but I honestly havent had an issue with that because it requires multiple survivors off gens to pull it off properly which in turn throws the game to make it happen," - This means nothing, perhaps I have misunderstood but to get off a gen you'd have to be chased?

" if you're getting outplayed with made for this alone it's a skill issue" outplayed? Have you played high mmr without this perk? If so, imagine how it is now!

" and not only that but there are perks that can directly counter it due to the exhaustion stopping it from being active," - Lets get this right, to play against a broken perk at loops which were designed for average speed survivors ... the killer needs to use perks to cause exhaustion* (under certain circumstances)... thats your work around?

" people acting helpless on here are the same ones who have a problem with anything BHVR does it'll never change no matter what they do." - Google Huntress 110% killer on Ormond with survivors running this broken perk if you need to see helpless... no acting with Nic Cage is needed.

If you are low ranked then you only need to ask BHVR to show you it now being meta... because why would a perk that isn't broken not be meta in high tier matches?

The Problem with the current matchmaking is, that it doesn´t take loadouts into consideration. So, a person who doesn´t want to try hard 24/7 but only occasionally, will get matched with try hards. I enjoy a fair match. I don´t enjoy getting stomped and i also don´t enjoy stomping. At least, as killer i can adjust my playstyle, when i notice the skill level of the survivors. Usually, when i play survivor and notice the skill level, its already to late.

Sometimes i want a match that requires me to focus. Sometimes i just want to chill and complete the archives. Thats one of those moments, where i think the game needs a casual and a hardcore mode.

A 5 minute match usually isn´t fun. Doesn´t matter who "wins". Killers using high tier killers could be a coincidence, the will to win or simply a question of taste. For example, years ago i mained the original Freddy. Just because i enjoyed his playstyle.

Tunneling someone out at 5 gens doesn´t sound like fun. But then again, some people consider everything as tunneling, even when the killer tries his hardest to not tunnel (body blocking with inbuild BT comes to mind). At the end of the day, people should just have fun. If you had fun, even when you lost, does it matter that you lost? It doesn´t for me. A good chase or jump scare makes the game exciting for me.

@C3Tooth @Tsulan Any idea what these comments have to do with the original post?

My point clearly goes over your head, again and again. This entire topic and your comments so far have been a waste of time and space. Don't @ me. GL with your BS post :)

Indeed it does go over someones head, you can't teach everyone.

  • Simples, BHVR don't care and time and time again only listen to 80% of their community (aka survivor mains)

Do what I do and stop playing killer, the survivor mains will then have to do more and more Killer challenges due to new challenges due to lobbies taking too long. Those survivor main killers will then farm and we are left with a game nobody wants to play because it is boring but BHVR have made as much money when you kill the golden goose.

To not kill the golden goose you have to make the game enjoyable for 20% and 80% of the community, BHVR are not doing this and to try and stay on point to this post "Made For This" is broken but whilst they try to keep it alive for the 80% the game currently is in such a mess it will be 'amended' in a couple of months... again only due to the state it is currently in and not because they want to displease the 80% or balance the game.

edit: These are my opinions similar to others

I didn't, you simply didn't get my post. I gave you 2 examples of things being ignored for YEARS and additionally pointed out that the devs don't cater to any specific side, they do/change what they want at the end of the day, regardless of it being a perk, a mechanic, a map, killer, and so on.

The fact that you added your last sentence to your OP made me initially not even want to reply to this topic because it shows that you don't quite understand/know what the devs have said over the years about what they want and certainly won't change about their game. Specifically where using communications is concerned. They want SWFs to play their game, why wouldn't they? It's the point of making a product; one that sells to as many as possible, and gaming with friends literally does that. So why the heck would they punish people for that? They haven't added comms in-game, but aren't going to punish people for using Discord and so on. What you're asking is pure entitlement and makes absolutely zero sense from a business pov.

1st paragraph reply, I have included a link to understand what whataboutism is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whataboutism

2nd paragraph is a jumble of template words which I can understand when emotion is involved and why you avoided the subject in the first place. Communication in DBD making you happy or sad isn't really relivant when we talk about balance, communications can give an unfair advantage which as pointed out has never been addressed. I should point out this is a minor comment and if confused please create a different post and tag me to keep things relevant to the main topic of this post ""Made For This" intentionally broken to keep things 'fresh'?"

Do you have anything to say about the topic?

  • I can only see about 2 posts that actually seem to talk about "Made For This" and good points they are about 110% killers being looped around small almost infinite rocks/loops.

@EvilBarney666 mentions they'll play the game until they don't and it becomes stupid which this perk is, an additional 3% for being .... injuried.

@foods shows the business sense and why the cow is being milked dry.

What interests me is whether this perk will be broken as long as other survivor perks have been for years or they quickly nerf it.

I'm with the business comments, milk the customers then nerf it and bring out another one for freshness.. I mean balance.

Your question isn't straightforward. The devs make changes based around balancing. Currently, they're happy with kill rates. Nerfing swf will increase kill rates. Which will lead to killer nerfs. It's a domino effect. It's not a matter of 'when have they nerfed swfs?' and more of 'have they ever actually needed to?'

Question: SWFs ever nerfed? Answer: Not straightforward, balancing, kill rates, killer nerfs, needed to?

*The answer is actually straightforward, it's can be Yes or No

    @Hex_iButt said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3433168#Comment_3433168

Well, the answer just isn't all that simple. Firstly, its hard to really make balance changes around SWF knowing that each group is going to be different as far as their mentality goes to why they are playing together, ranging between memes and goofing off to being a comp sweat squad. Then there's the obvious "3rd party communication platform of choice" which usually ends up being discord, and there's no way to really prevent them from being in a call with each other to give each other information. No matter how you look at it, the best solution is to help bridge the gap between solo queue and SWFs (hence the UI update).

In an attempt to answer your question though as far as when SWF was last nerfed, Knight's release (6.4.0?) when they made it so Killers were immune to flashlights when grabbing survivors from lockers. Yes, it is still technically possible if using a Flashbang or if the Surv slowly exists the locker, but Flashbangs must be earned by doing gens (more set-up involved for limited usage), and the slow exit is in a sense less reliable (waiting for them to fully exit to M1) vs when you were locked into an animation and had to eat the beam.

Question: SWFs ever nerfed? Answer: It's simple

*The answer is actually straightforward, it's can be Yes or No

... makes you wonder why people can't answer a yes or no question

Lunging makes you whiff because you're easier to 360 when holding a swing longer, if you instead close the distance a little more and tap the button you will almost always hit because its a shorter animation and the survivor cant abuse the aim dressing that way, you seem like a fairly new player from your posts ive been seeing it may benefit you to check out some guides on YouTube from some players with a little more experience

    I don't think you've understood the op.

New to the forum but not new to this game

How would a reduced lunge range make Killers hit walls more often? The only example I can think of is when muscle memory has you expecting to turn around something but lose speed ending up turning into that thing. But that's only when hitting at the VERY tip of the lunge and only when going around tight bends.

Did notice that I was missing a few attacks last night though. Not judging distances right, getting spun, and so on. That can simply be chalked that up to me not playing DbD for a couple weeks at least and being rusty as hell.

Best described as the survivor has gone left between walls, you hold hit and will hit the wall just as you finish turning into what should be the survivor you'll hit the wall/object.

...how do you nerf swf? You going to punish someone for having friends?

How I love to see that meme of 'for having friends' #nerfPig

Your question isn't straightforward. The devs make changes based around balancing. Currently, they're happy with kill rates. Nerfing swf will increase kill rates. Which will lead to killer nerfs. It's a domino effect. It's not a matter of 'when have they nerfed swfs?' and more of 'have they ever actually needed to?'

Easy answer, yes they need to balance the game... aka 'balance swfs' to solo level or vice versa.

The answer is obvious, SWFs play a big proportion of the player base which is why BHVR hides them end game when there is no reason to. Balance can be achieved with those kill rates.
