Have you tried buying character with shards? it's like 40 plus hours and why does that justify this clearly manipulative garbage!
I never said the shard method was practical or fair, just an option if you want to save money.
You do have to think of it from the devs side. Most of the time things like extra killers and what-not would be LOCKED behind a paywall you don't have any option of getting over. Grinding is a part of online games and the ability to get killers without having to pay money for them for a cost of a grind is a fair way to incentive purchases with money while also not locking players who can't afford it out.
Look at the battle pass. Only the charms are exclusive and if you DO purchase it you can make all the currency back and buy passes for free after that (with grind) which is usually much better than other online games where you not only HAVE to pay but you also have to grind as well.
I'm not saying DbD is the holy grail of this stuff, but they could have made it much worse.

Oh okay no problem man. I'm actually thinking of making a forumn about quality of life improvements for everything in the game. Including half the killers and perks that don't have a real use to them. I don't want to suggest them if they're too OP or UP. Lol
Even though recent events have shown that community feedback is sometimes just completely ignored, I still think you should do it.
Just make it constructive and easy to read. Even if they won't listen we can do our best to try and help improve the game.

It might be purely bp but it’s still bull that survivors have so many ways to screw the killer out of the event - both as a principle thing and as a “killers have no realistic way to do the same to survivors” thing.
Events should inspire holiday spirit NOT extra toxicity.
I completely agree with you. But considering the problems facing the game right now: Balance issues, Dedicated servers, performance issues, to name a few I think we're better off just letting it be since it has no impact on gameplay right now. To focus more effort on making it better when there are actual problems seems like a strange choice to me.
But you're right, events should make the game more enjoyable and not who can out-do the other in a toxic fight.

I'm curious to know what problems you mean?
To be honest I misread what you typed. I do like your idea, but we'd have to see it in action to get a real sense on where to go with it.
Still better than what we got though!

Apparently it’s true that survivors can sabo the hooks. What. The. Truck.
What is the purpose of this besides to encourage toxicity and animosity among the players?
Well seeing as it's purely for BP and nothing else this time around I kind of expected they wouldn't protect the hooks.

The it would be nice if it wasn't being waved in front your you face all the time.
You buy the battle pass "HEY GREAT I GOT A HAG COSMETIC"
Game: "Oh so sad you didn't buy the character, better go back and buy them or the money you spent of this pass will be wasted"
That is admittedly a bad example. Hag is a "free" killer if you purchase her with shards. The only real problem comes in with licensed characters. Hopefully they keep a good ratio of paid:free killers/survivors.
-
To be fair, they are adding in all cosmetics in the rift to the game for regular purchase sometime after the rifts end, except for hook charms I believe.

If they normalized her speed and sped up the charge time a slight bit of her blinks recharge stacks I think it would definitely help fix her. Mainly normalizing her speed to that of at least hag maybe slightly better because her main issue will be the fact she cant keep up with anyone.
Don't you see? Being an m1 killer is the best. Why would you even want some dumb power?

Personally I like to use Bamboozle with Legion. :)
I would like to know how you use it.
Do you use it for combing with FF to vault and block a window so they won't try and sneakily go through it? I'm curious the strategy you use with it.
And I have one huge problem with Bamboozle, using it will actively encourage and reward survivors for just running to another window. It can be used sometimes without that problem but ultimately they can completely avoid it without ever having to deal with it. Why not run a perk that guarantees usage?

She's a really tryhard based killer isn't she? All I know is she shouldn't get add-ons that partially reduce her accuracy on blinks and the survivors shouldn't be able to see where she's gonna blink. Also there's the fact that her power has to be used so consistently or else you're worthless. Perhaps giving her a power gauge that charges fairly quick and depletes based on how long you charge a blink and can be used for multiple blinks. This removes gimmicky blink add-ons and allow for a better focus towards her power gauge recovery, charge speed, cool down, blink speed, and if not too crazy, let one add-on be that she can see healthy survivors within 16 meters. The power gauge still has a ding or a sound when fully charged, but it won't be as repetitive as the one we have right now.
I see a few problems in this, but it is better than what we got.
Anything could be better...

Kill as in Mori? Yeah that's not possible.
ACHKUAHALLY
It's very possible if you use the ranking system like it was intended(according to problematic SWF). De-rank and farm new players. It is essentially one of the pillars of toxic SWF mentality, which hasn't been dealt with nor will it be dealt with.

Well you assume way too many things. First that it will be 4 people. Majority of the players are solo in this game proven by devs and the info they gave us. So it will be just 2 or 3 at best if very unlucky. Now the 3 maps I mentioned are literally the worse maps for surivors, with the lowest escape rate. I gave just an example for the killers. It does not really matter which one it is. It is unfair if he sends you there. If it is mirror myers as I said it is even worse cause he is a an unstoppable menace on these maps with little to no counter. But it is fun ^^ for me so it is for the survivors.
Still you exaggerate quite a lot by saying "nothing you can do to realistically counter it". There are tons of things but I just don't have the time.
If you bring the right killer and perks, sure you can counter a lot in the game.
Does that mean you're going to run it just so you can have an actual enjoyable game should you get a horribly balanced and designed map?

I dont like they casual attitude either, although its been improving as time goes on. Instaheal nerfs and although you dont want to hear it, nurse nerfs are a step in the right direction. She is a problem at highranks.
Nurse jukes are limited, best you can get are 50/50 when you leave LoS. With her previous fatigue, she would be starting her next blink immediately. Even if you juke her, you only gain a few seconds. Very Nursefavored in time management. So now its more balanced.
I don't disagree, we can always strive for better balance and Nurse is no exception.
However, considering that they don't believe in balancing the game around high elo, and the multitude of other more serious balance issues and a plethora of weak non-viable killers; I believe we should have addressed all of that before working on Nurse.
It also really annoys me that they spout the "casual balance" philosophy and then go and change a killer who was ONLY effective in high elo. They seem to pick and choose when to listen to their own philosophy.

Well if we going this way I think it is "fair" then to disable/remove the Lery's/GIdeon/the New Map for the killers so Myers/or any other stealth killer/ for example can't "abuse it" as you call it when they use addons/perks that fits only that map. But oh wait you call probably that having fun as a killer but when you talk about the survivors hmmm talk about double standards
Well think about it like this; you have a team to gain information from and help you against the killer regardless if they're a stealth killer or not on any given map.
As a killer, if they take you to a map like Haddon and bring BL, that's x4 people abusing it and there is almost nothing you can do to realistically counter it.

Hahaha funny Wraith with good addons can be a solid killer (depending on the skill of the player too) tbh Clown is way worse he doesn't have map pressure he is just a pure m1 killer with bottles
Yeah seeing Clown in perspective he is EXTREMELY basic and very underwhelming without addons. If he was released today though I'm sure he'd have a power meter, so idk what's better.
-
Like @SpaceCoconut said, this event is more cosmetic than it is event. All the real content resides in the rift and archives which is totally independent of the "event" as event gens and hooks will only give you BP now.

I do agree for the most part. I actually like going against midrank nurses. Having to play stealthy and immersed and act like its a horrorgame. She feels like a real killer. But then you enter highranks, where nurses become robots on their flowchart of farming survivors and it all becomes nonsense. At some point you have to do gens or unhooks and that's it about hide and seek. Now you're all inevitably going downed, slugged and destroyed.
I'd love see weak killers getting buffed, but the devs are very strict on not making strong killers again. So many details to keep killers weak and then they point to nurse and billy if you want to play highranks. A bad design choice, but they aim to keep this game casual. Play these killers if you're highrank, while we're making lots of weaker killers for the casuals, that are not meant to compete at highrank, so they dont have to balance everything.
That's where the chase comes in. You learn how to juke her in a chase so your team can do what needs to be done. But yeah, I'm getting really sick of their casual attitude. I don't get the choice to play in the fun casual setting they think the game is, I have to constantly fight sweat squads or de-rank and abuse people nowhere near my skill level.
I understand wanting casual to be a fun selling point for the game but ignoring the huge imbalance towards the top of any game will only inevitably bring it crashing down when the problems become too huge and start to make their way into the casual side of the game.

That still requires them to be asleep. Sometimes useful, sure. But it isn't a sure-fire way to actually counter that god awful map exploit.

@Peanits said:
It's basically the scale of the issue. Very small issues can be fixed in a few minutes while you're doing something else. For example, if you're working on skill checks and you know there's a tiny issue, it's easy to kill two birds with one stone and knock out a small bug while you're there.
Larger issues take a lot more time to get fixed. Stuff like the game hitching when you vault a window isn't as simple as an animation not playing. You'll need to investigate deeper, figure out why it's happening, then depending on why it's happening, you may have to rework a good bit of the code to make it work properly. In the case of vaulting windows, it's very likely dependent on your connection to the killer/server, so that would probably (can't confirm for sure, this is more of a technical question) require you to redo how windows work.
To put it simply, it's just more efficient to fix something while you're already there. It's not that those tiny issues are being prioritized over larger issues. Larger issues just take way more time and investigation to fix.
Would I be correct in assuming this is also the reason we have not had any significant changes to generators as a whole? They're quite boring and un-interactive as they are now, and every day the gen completion time gets shorter and shorter.
I see that a change to them would be massive and require a lot of work, but do you have any plans on updating the single most boring objective in a multiplayer game?

got it. is testing opt-in, or is it just happening intermittently? Am I correct in thinking that a ping meter next to my name as a killer (with no ping meters next to the survivors' names) means that I'm on a dedicated server?
If you're playing the game on PC then you're in dedicated servers whether you want to be or not. And yes, the ping is an indication that you're on DedS.

I agree with all of you.
An event should... ya know, be an EVENT and have something different. Not the same crap we deal with for 3 years. And the offering should be at least better than the best BP offering even if only by a small margin.
This year was a let down, but I can understand that they're focused on dedicated servers and nothing else right now. In this aspect, the event is fine. More of a placation attempt rather than a genuine event but whatever.

If you want to hear my honest opinion about nurse. She is still broken and overpowered. She was way too time efficient previously in travel and chase times. She still is the most time efficient killer and to really balance her, they would have to rework her concept. Which in turn would cause a huge, real outcry. So they went with a mild, but elegant solution by just turning down her overall time efficiency without changing her core aspect. Imo nurse survived her rework pretty well. It could've been way worse.
Tournaments are a joke. Survivors are so strong, the very first tournament wasn't even about killer vs survivor. It was survivor vs other survivorteams on which team can farm the most points out of the poor killer, who was just a toy. And now nurse can really compete with their power level and go 50/50 on the perkless tournament. Says a lot about her powerlevel imo and that it needed to be tuned down. And mandatory to add, yes i would delete 4-swfs, cause that is the counterargument.
We're on opposite sides of this issue here.
I believe she was a shining beacon of what killers should be. They should powerful, scary, and strong. She was all of that but only if you actually had skill with her. The perfect skill = reward scenario.
Instead of making her weaker they should've buffed all of the B or lower tier killers so they actually were similar in power level to Nurse. Then and only then should they have even considered lowering her.
Let's say she is balanced now, that is unimportant. No one wants to play a killer that you constantly have to watch the power meter on or get dunked with punishments. Killer is already a race against time and you can't make any mistakes if you want to even have a chance at winning. Why make the only answer to that worse without giving any other answers?

FF does not show blood pools or scratch marks so you do not randomly find Survivors you don't know are that when using FF for traversal. You are meant to have to make a concious decision to trigger FF to get someone you can see, or to traverse the map.
If someone is out in the open and you see them, whatever, that's their fault. :D
The problem with that is you CAN'T use his power to traverse the map.
I can't find it but someone did the math in another thread comparing the distance between walking and using FF. Due to the stun FF actually made you just slower than walking around would've, post nerf. Except you're out of a power until it's recharged.

That's funny, because I have run into many survivors who were able to juke me and make me switch targets. They didn't seem to have a problem with such an overpowered and unstoppable killer.
Just because you refused to play differently against her doesn't mean she is game breaking. She is unique and powerful, EXACTLY what a killer should be.
-
@Weederick said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/797014#Comment_797014
You can get used to a cooldown relatively quickly, as long as the blink itself feels the same. Give it a few days, she is still the same killer, but less time efficient.
And that isn't something the game needed in it's current state.
Time is the single most important thing any killer has, and the game is just too fast now when survivors play optimally. There is almost no room if any at all for errors on the killer side unless survivors are just sloppy and making mistakes left and right.
If they had brought the weak killers up to somewhere near Nurse then I would've been ok with bring her down SLIGHTLY. But that didn't happen, we still have killers that are completely nonviable in high elo.
Slightly off topic but a big reason we don't have tournaments for this game is because everyone knows it isn't a viable competitive game. There are game breaking balance issues that are still present today. And when there is a tournament do you know who is played the most? Nurse. Why? Because she was one of the only killers able to actually control the match.
Now she is less fun and effective, while nothing else changed. If we get another tournament it might just be a huge joke because who will want to get creamed by SWF in a tournament when the only answer isn't an answer anymore?
-
I HATE the way they currently use them. The all-or nothing attitude of a power bar reduces the uniqueness and options any given killer can have.
Now if they make it so there is a power bar but you don't need to wait for it to entirely recharge and can use segments of it differently I would be open to something like that. But currently we just have m1 killers who can occasionally become a unique killer before they're back to waiting again. It isn't fun, useful, cool, or powerful. It's just dumb in my opinion and hurts what makes the killer role fun in the first place.
-
@Weederick said:
She feels the same, but a bit more balanced. Props to balancing her without changing muscle memory.
Are... are you being serious?
THE COOLDOWN LITERALLY AFFECTS YOUR MUSCLE MEMORY. Constantly blinking was a part of that. Now having to wait so you don't screw yourself over by using it 0.01 seconds too early is a HUGE CHANGE TO MUSCLE MEMORY. If they did this but made the cooldown SLOWER (not stopped) while charging then I would've agreed with you.
And lets not forget they said they wanted to remove that stuff from her addons, yet at least 5 still interact with her power in a way that changes muscle memory.

You know what? I don't even care about the bugs anymore as long as they aren't gamebreaking. I honestly just expect them to be in normal gameplay.
What really bothers me is how they lied to us in regards to what they wanted to accomplish with the Nurse pass, and then how they COMPLETELY FAILED to even do that while making her less fun.
They didn't listen to us at all. In fact, they went against what so many people wanted and made her cooldown addons WORSE, while fixing the bug that made the entire change even playable.
I will never expect them to listen to community feedback after this. Literally nothing changed in terms of the useless/bad addons they created but they somehow changed one of the good ones into be less useful.
-
This doesn't change anything in reference to Plague, aside from the BT effect.

The thing that bothers me about the nerf is the message it sends. Base no add ons Nurse was difficult when facing capable survivors who knew how she worked, knew the distances and charge times, etc. They forced line of sight breaks during fatigue and made you predict how much you needed to charge blinks. They could have stuck with the add on nerf and left it there. But instead they're signaling to the players, "You don't have to learn the counterplay, we'll build in arbitrary power restrictions instead." I'm waiting on the Freddy nerf because many survivors still won't drop pallets early against him.
Yeah I'm left to wonder how many people complaining base-kit was OP actually know what to do against a Nurse? Do they know you can't do the same EXACT thing you do for all other killers?
-
@[Deleted User] said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/796339#Comment_796339
Yes. With base blink distance, charge, and fatigue, it's extremely punishing. Like, "survivor can hold W all the way across the map" punishing. The add ons were extreme, I'll admit. But this goes too far in the other direction, where the skill ceiling is arguably prohibitive against top tier survivors.
Yeah map pressure, chase pressure, mind games, having fun. All those things suffer with this change. All that was needed was addon pass, and that's all they said they were doing at first (obviously an attempt to quell the raging storm we have now)
but now we have a much weaker and less fun killer with the EXACT SAME PROBLEMS THEY SAID THEY WOULD FIX BY DOING THIS IN THE FIRST PLACE.
I made a detailed analysis of the addons in a PTB feedback thread, and since ######### nothing changed but making her necessary cooldown addons WORSE after they fixed a bug that made it even viable in the first place, I will just post a list of the addons that are still bad/not going to be used.
The needs work: Bad Man Keepsake, Anxious Gasp, Bad Man's Last Breath, and Campbell's Last Breath. All of these need work. They aren't TERRIBLE but they aren't ever going to be picked over the actual functioning and useful ones.
The Bad/Ugly: White Knit Comb, Dull Bracelet, Pocket Watch, Spasmodic Breath, And Torn Bookmark. These all actively hurt or reduce her power to a stupid degree. The only one of these that are even USABLE is the 3-blink, and only JUST. Any map indoors or with a lot of LOS breaks make this an unusable addon.
TL;DR
Devs said they wanted to do the pass to eliminate muscle-memory changing addons and ones that weren't used, all they did was make her weaker and introduce a few good addons while keeping the SAME EXACT PROBLEM they wanted to change with the pass.

Yeah, but at the same time making the game slower by default wouldn't mean anything.
I'd love to think that if the devs made matches longer by default that all of the killer players would switch off Ruin and the like but the thing is, most of them won't.
Why swap out Ruin for a slow match when you can keep it for a super slow match?
Well obviously if the objectives change then so too will many of the perks in game.
I think this is a HUGE reason they won't change gens, because that would mean having to change countless perks/addons/killer power interactions. The far easier and more short-term profitable option is to just ignore the issue and keep adding band-aid fixes in the form of perks/killers.
Can you even name 5 people who enjoy sitting and holding m1?

THIS ISN'T A THREAD ABOUT I CAN'T 4K WITHOUT EFFORT LIKE BEFORE NOW, SO DON'T MISUNDERSTOOD ME
(i don't care survivors escape, what i care is having a nice and fair match and hooking survivors)
The reason is simple.. i felt limited and need to keep looking at the power bar. How am i suppose to track survivors when i need to keep tracking my power? so many times i messed up because of focusing too much on where survivors have gone
also, the ptb nurse problem still exists. if i used my power when my second blink is 99%, i lose all the power with just 1 blink, and my 2.99 sec waiting for my power is wasted
The notice sound for the recharge is not helping at all during chase. it is replaced by the "almighty" chase music
honestly i spend more time looking at my power bars rather than survivors, and i don't know how looking at your power bar is fun
All of these problems are completely spot on, and you're even missing quite a few!
This patch makes me feel like the devs didn't even look at any of the feedback on Nurse. They did the usual "It's on PTB and it can change but we won't change anything" thing.

Honestly the plants aren't needed to slow the game down. All of the matches I have had so far the killers have been running Dying Light and Ruin.
Stuff like this should tell you there is a problem. If the only viable perks are ones that slow the game down.... maybe the game is going too fast now?
This kind of applies to DH/DS too since every survivor and their mother run it.
I really really wish they'd drop their mentality of fixing the game by introducing new perks and killers. If there is 5 or more problems then this idea INHERENTLY doesn't work, nor does it make playing any other weak killer fun or possible.

No, the fatigue exists to prevent spamming, the cooldown shouldnt
Yeah. On the tooltip you get for playing her it lists her downside as fatigue and slow movement. Devs already had TWO METHODS for making her weaker, they could've easily just adjusted those but instead they went and created an entire new mechanic to tie into the cooldown phase they're going through.

I much like the concept of the killer, however the first power is very similar to the legions and the second sort of encourages tunnelling. There's lots of potential around this kind of killer, he could even be able to phase between werewolf and human, or perhaps he becomes more human (weaker) the less he hits survivors, so he is very based around gaining momentum (becomes stronger as he wins more chases)
My original suggestion was to have him be able to switch between werewolf/survivor. He can be the decoy killer AND have some power while being a werewolf.

Yes I think this is a huge problem we haven't even begun discussing yet. On PTB it was PASSABLE with the addons because of the fatigue recharge bug that was in, but now that it doesn't do that and the cooldown is even LONGER it won't take long before we see how big a problem this slight change is.

The first two exist? Which perks?!
The first one is like the one perk that reveals auras every time a gen is done, but weaker than that.
2nd is close to Tinkerer, except instead of activating BEFORE the gen is done it's after.
3rd is unique and very strong, I'd like to see it. Although it would almost certainly become even more meta than BBQ/DH.

Yes, doing the exact same thing we've been doing for years and during non events is so much fun.
I understand the problems of last years event, but its an EVENT. Why are we doing the EXACT same thing as regular gameplay but with a different colored hook/gen?
As I understood it they were trying to use events to test new gameplay ideas. Clearly last years doesn't work but that's why you try something new. The game could really use it.
-
Where did you get the model? It's very well done.
As for the power, it's semi-interesting but just running faster is already something Legion does (not well however) and I think the scent thing is not the right design philosophy.
I don't really know what would make an interesting main power for him tbh.
However, I know a good change for the scent mechanic. Reverse it. Anyone not on last hook leaves a scent trail behind. This way it makes you better early game and doesn't give you a serious advantage when you already have the upper hand. This is much closer to the design philosophy the devs say they want.

I wish we had more killers like her. I can't see the fun in doing the exact same thing over and over despite facing different killers.

I personally don't hate Haddonfield that much, the problem is when survivors use offerings to go there. And they do because they know how broken the map is with BL. However, if noone used an offering I don't mind that much because they don't abuse the map
Disable the map until it gets reworked or remove the offering, im fine with both.
If Nurse was such a priority to "fix" then so should Haddon field. I rarely have a game there that's even close to enjoyable with how easy it is to abuse the pallets/windows/houses.

It's so you know what you're being affected by. It is an intentional feature as far as I'm aware.
This. It doesn't tell you anything more than doing a gen for 10 seconds wouldn't.
