If Hag wasn't weak to flashlights, she'd be the best killer. Leave her as she is, there's a way to win, it's just REALLY difficult. I can understand what you mean, but she definitely doesn't need more buffs. (Hag main who faces Flashlights a fair amount)

If they were to update these killers, I think Wraith would be OK, but Hag definitely would be nerfed in some place which I personally think it's better having her as she is. Plus, if you set your web up while FL is on hook/other side of map, you can very easily snowball the team by forcing them into you (defending 3-4 close gens or something).

I need Hag needs some love and QoL but not a lot.

Mainly she could have map wide teleport basekit (to promote going around the map to trap instead of being forced into nests)

OR just make teleporting to traps more fluid if we can't have the range. So slow after coming out of a trap and survivors are able to get out of hits because of it should be fixed.

  • Yeah I have to agree with others. You showcase a problem but it isn't unique to Nurse. If you had focused on the bugs and the cooldown being obnoxiously overkill that would've fit better.

And what I'm saying is that mori's shouldn't be strong. The only point of them should be to see the cool animation. If you don't want to see the animation then don't bring them in. Using a mori shouldn't be a viable strategy.

I could only ever see this is the game was balanced. Then yeah that would be fine for me.

And as I said before, the point of moris is to show off the cool killing animation and not to give you an advantage. If you want to see the killing animation, bring a mori. Otherwise the ability to kill survivors on their second hook is way too strong. We are not entitled to escape, but you are not entitled to kill. If you need to use a mori to get kills, then you are bad and you need to play better.

The only good change I've seen is to make it so everyone must be hooked at least once before you can Mori. That prevents immediate tunneling to death (something I disagree with) while also keeping the Mori relatively strong and not gimped like Nurse.

  • @Joelwino said:

The entire purpose of moris was to implement a cool killing animation for each killer into the game. The purpose of moris was not to give you an advantage. Now that we have perks like Rancor and Devour Hope, I don't see a purpose for moris in the game. And if we delete moris, then killer rank will be more accurate since some killers won't be boosted by overpowered offerings. Moris are annoying, because they unfairly rob you of your chances to escape. There are lots of times I would've escaped a trial if not for a killer's Ebony Mori. If Mori offerings were to stay in the game, then they should only let you kill people on death hook to keep the imbalance to a minimum.

I disagree. The animations can be cool and all but the longer they take the worse they are.

The entire point of bringing in a Mori is to be able to eliminate survivors faster. If it becomes weaker or only for an animation (that is a debilitation mind you) then it'll be pointless to use them. Worthless 90% of the time.

  • Oh, not by default. If a 3rd blink addon (that wasn't the one we have now) would still be a good addon to have then it could work in those games but otherwise just standard 2 blinks.

  • @ActulCasul said:

I was playing her alot and I had precise blinks, good predictions and could read survivors personalities well. After a few days off I've only had bad games, it's like survivors hate windows and doors, all my blinks are off and I can't figure out pathing for my life. Only depips. Even shadowborn hasn't helped my precision, I just had a game where I was staring a survivor in their face and somehow smacked the fence behind them, while they stayed on screen the whole time. Ngl I think I'm done with dbd.

    Edit: spelling

Woah this is stunningly similar to my experience. Normally more than capable of 4king but recently the game is just completely unfun, bugged, or straight up bullshit. Very hard to play DbD more than one day a week or month at this point.

  • Yeah it's rough warming up after a few days or longer.

  • @LordRegal said:

As a former Nurse main who dropped her after the nerf because, while I could still 4k with her, I wasn't having fun with her, this post has my full support. It's not old Nurse and I do still think I'd prefer that, but if we're stuck with the charge system I think this is a much better way to go about it than hard numbers.

Haha this is exactly how I feel. I wish we could get old Nurse back but I'd much rather have this.

  • Same as they do now, but more dynamic. If you have any meter left after your first blink you can charge up however much meter you have left or the natural blink window passes.

Should you lose charge if you fake a blink? Idk. I don't think that should be a thing. Just not charge any meter while holding it and only take it away when you actually blink. Maybe it will highlight how much meter it will consume?

    @Mat_Sella said:

Then she literally just blinks past a vault or pallet whenever she wants to

    thats a no.

But it's more skill based that way. You risk being at a serious disadvantage if you miss the attack. All this change would do is allow more fluid gameplay and allow skilled players to choose their hits more often. It won't make it easier to do anything; just more convenient and fluid.

    @[Deleted User] said:

I have only a faint hope that the devs will see this post and implement it, but I have to say this is a brilliant idea, you always give really well thought out suggestions, but I think this will cover so many issues with Nurse and I can really see this making her a killer that people actually play again.

    Thanks, I appreciate that!

I would love for @Peanits or someone else to comment on it. I don't need a "We're going to implement it in the game" just your honest critique and opinion on it.

  • Most Nurse addons

  • Any passive like stuff is just going to make some survivors meta and others useless.

However, if every character got one of their teachables as a random perk in addition to whatever 4 perks they run that would be cool. I don't think the game is designed around it but that's the only way I see them making survivors unique without making all of them useless.

Same for killers too, then there would be some cool synergy between a killer and their teachables instead of just being used for someone else and forgotten forever on the home killer.

  • @darklinger said:

Waiting for buff nurse.. She have only 2-3 good addons. Whithout them completely useless. Why ripping hard and interesting character? And nurse part of silent hill too

It would've been cool thematically to include a lot of Nurse love and QoL in this patch with PH.

They said there's still some more coming up for the PTB so we'll see... I'm not holding my breath though.

Everyone plays only with the basekit, because addons are so difficult to gain. So, you want to 4k everygame with the basekit? Killers are so selfish

Basekit with no addons should be viable. I don't know if I can argue no perks either. It's obvious survivors can go in without any perks at all and destroy most killers, is it fair for the same if a killer can do that to fully geared up squads? I'm not sure myself.

I wasn't saying it's not possible to loop nurse. It was very possible; however, just because it was possible doesn't mean it's okay. I've come back from games where a survivor DC'd straight away multiple times, but i'm sure that doesn't mean that there should only be 3 survivors right? My point being that there are always exceptions to the norm. You seem like a Nurse main, so I'm sure you've had way more experiences whereby survivors weren't able to loop you, but naturally you'd remember the times they could.

Besides, you don't loop Nurse like a regular killer now lol. Her power is exactly the same, just staggered. You can still blink through walls/pallets.

I don't quite understand what you mean about a cooldown like pyramid heads? Could you explain more please?

If they're not running the range/CD addons it's very easy to loop her or just run straight while she walks for 6 seconds.

And sure, I made a suggestion thread for it: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/156811/nurse-power-meter-change-suggestion/

  • I like DbD's level of gore, it's almost perfect to me. Shows enough to tell us the narrative but it isn't a snuff film about it.

If we added decapitation/limb severing it would have to be around this level for me:

  • @LlamaArmour said:

Come on guys, can anyone really deny that it was unfair for her to see you from like 20m away, to mind game her, and then for her to be right behind you (or even on you) in 3seconds despite having a wall/pallet separating us?

I get that it's not fun, and maybe there could have been a different way to tweak her power instead constantly looking down. However, it was ridiculously OP. Particularly when you went against a slugging Nurse.

I always say this, but her power is game breaking by design; so it's hard for the devs to balance between overpowered and underpowered.

What do you guys think about her fatigue being shortened, and instead being able to walk at normal speed (whilst looking forward) but not being able to m1/blink, whilst keeping the new blink cooldown?

I experienced plenty of survivors that could loop me very well and sometimes even force me to give up on that chase. It wasn't an impossible task like people claim it's just very few people actually knew what to do and actually employed that strategy. Most people just tried to loop her like a regular killer and you won't win doing that. You do now, but that's why I've made a suggestion for changing her powerbar to work like Pyramid Head's so that would at least be something much better than the current haphazardly done cooldown, while still having a cooldown.

  • @Lufanati said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1313942#Comment_1313942

uh, no. It's cool and it does provide a bit of utility when you do corner a survivor.

If you're relying on this 1-shot you're probably wasting way too much time chasing them without lunging or using your ranged attack while trying to get right up on them.

And if you aren't relying on it, think of from a survivors perspective how cheap and unsatisfying that would feel? He can't do anything but run after you into a corner and is now rewarded sometimes with a free 1-shot. It's not very consistent or fair gameplay wise.

  • @perezkarlo37 said:

Only people who used to DOMINATE nurse still 4k with her easily and don't have any problems. Then we HAD people who only 4ked because of the unlimited blinks and perk builds, who don't know how to play her as now she is based on actual skill. The nerf made her a real killer and not an automatic and efficient 4k machine.

If she was such an ez automatic win why did only killers in red ranks play her well and pretty much anyone else playing her was called a "baby ez Nurse"? It's widely acknowledged you have to put in hundreds of hours on Nurse to be proficient and capable against real survivors.

I hate that weak argument people just spit without any foundation.

You’re wrong she needed a nerf. She’s still good though, a good nurse player still gets ez downs. I see it happen on console all the time. She definitely didn’t need 5 blinks that’s excessive. Psssh. Entitled killer mains wanting ez 4Ks every game.

He even says he was against the 5 blink addon in the quote... Terrible flame/bait.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

Once you had a grip on her, she wasnt really that hard, yes, she could still be juked, but even if you failed your hit you were not punished that hard, survivors barely gained any distance before you recovered.

In some point during my game experience with DBD I mained Nurse on console. After a while I realised people were just memeing when saying she was impossible.

Current nurse is not bad, she is just boring and bug ridden and she has some really lame add-ons.

Just because you've missed or hit doesn't mean the survivor should just get distance. Part of it was reading what the Nurse was going to do. Double back and try to not get fake blinked? Bend left at the last second? These questions don't matter anymore it's just run straight. Distance is gained for no work now.

From my experience basement blinks are more or less the fault of the player. Sanctums basement was fixed, and that's the only one I encountered since I started to play nurse (tbh hasn't been that long).

IF you even slightly look down you go straight down. It feels like it vacuums you when you weren't even trying to go low.

  • @DeathBeam said:

I'm surprised no one is mentioning deadzones and basement blinks. They are the 2nd reason why I stopped using nurse behind her bugs that have never been addressed. Sanctum of Wrath when it came out was impossible to win if the survivors knew where the dead zones were.

They kind of get lost in the sea of bugs. Important nonetheless.

Yes, the recharge speed would be fine up to a certain point, with recovery addons but the made it way, to long, but I dislike the idea of a recharge on her blinks

I agree, it felt much more fluid and fun when you could just charge up another right away but alas, they have taken that sweet, juicy, buttery gameplay away forever it seems.

  • I'm living for all these Nurse threads.

I completely agree it was unneeded. If she must have a powerbar I ask it work like Pyramid Head's. His was actually well designed and feels rewarding to use and it isn't so clunky it stops your gameplay every 3 seconds.

Also her addons need another addon pass. That's just a fact. Only 2 are actually useful (to the point where you literally miss out on 50% of your power) I'd like to see them not be mandatory (my rework idea would do this) and make the other useless ones actually useful, or at least interesting and not bugged to hell.

  • @MadLordJack said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1313402#Comment_1313402

You mean to play nurse now? You see where the survivor is, use your first blink to get in close, either to a few feet behind them or to the last place you saw them. If they attempted a juke, it's most likely a 180. Otherwise, if you can still see them, you blink on them and swing. Simple to say, tricky to get right, no? And given her recharge, if you mess that up you get punished for it. Because her power is game breaking and she has no real counterplay if the nurse is good. So any but the best nurses should get punished by virtue of her gamebreakimg ability giving more reward than the required effort otherwise.

Now, with no recharge? Borderline no punishment. Recover and try again. You made a mistake, and the survivor couldn't punish it BECAUSE HERE YOU ARE AGAIN! Once you reach that initial skill floor as old nurse, there was no need to get better. And it only took a few hours for me, maybe 2 days of nurse in the evenings. I was 100 hours into the game and thrashing people, thinking "yeah, this is balanced!" Then I got bored, played other killers, she got nerfed, I got angry, and I realised it's because I suck at nurse. So I decided to get better. Which I gave up on because she's bugged as hell, but it doesn't change the fact that her power is still there, it just requires actual skill instead of a little practice for muscle memory.

Just because a killer has a high skill floor doesn't mean that they require skill to play after reaching that point, and it doesn't mean that you earned all of those borderline-mindless 4k's. That was the issue for old nurse: she was designed for a game that was so survivor-sided they NEEDED a killer that broke all the rules of a chase.

Well it's pretty common knowledge she's one of the hardest if not the hardest killer in the game to learn, so you'll have to excuse me if I question the weight of your argument when you say you've mastered her in 2 days playing in the evening. It's very easy to destroy most survivors because they refuse to learn how to counter-play her and change their strategies. Those who can were fine and are now nearly invincible in the right environments.

Also I don't understand how that works, if the skill floor is high aren't you always requiring a bare minimum amount of skill? That just seems like an oxymoron to me.

She may have been designed for a different DbD, but she still works in the modern game with the amount of LOS breaks and blocks they throw in some maps, and the way some loops hide survivors so you have to take a guess if you want to try and hit through a regular loop. You're always punished by the cooldown now, and I've suggested a better way to implement it that is the middle ground between our ideals that still keeps the punishment of the cooldown but allows for way more freedom than our current clunky Nurse.

Thank you guys! I would love to see my Nurse return to the buttery smooth flow she had before.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

This is an interesting idea. If I understand correctly:

    1. You suggest you can blink as long as you have some power bar left and you can charge only for the maximum of the remaining amount?
    2. Also, the full power bar would equal the sum of charges of the current 2 blinks?

The doubts I have are that:

    1. You would be able to blink several times in succession, which would allow an enormous margin of correction at close range.
    2. You could pull off a 32m single blink (20m+12m, which are the max range of current blinks). If you added range add-ons in the mix, you could potentially blink from outside spine chill range. It seems like a redo of old prayer's beads Spirit for gen grabs.

Assuming I understood correctly, which is far from a given, I would suggest that if this were to be tested, then there should still be a cap of 2 blinks before fatigue and 20m on your first blink. Then the cooldown mechanic would be changed to the meter as you suggested.

    Spot on actually.

    My arguments for your doubts:

1.) This wouldn't be a problem because fatigue would still make you wait at least 2 seconds in-between blinks. This should be sufficient enough to make enough distance to where you'll want to have some more charge before starting your blink. I didn't suggest that it should charge slowly while using your power so there is still that distinct decision of "Do I charge now and risk it or wait for more blink to have a better shot at actually catching up?"

2.) You make an interesting point. I don't know if the extra time it takes to charge the extra range on the first blink should count for more than a regular blink or the meter would scale to the extra charge time... Probably just make the extra time it takes equal to more charge consumed. That way there's less problems overall with it and the range addons come with a reasonable and logical downside. And if you use both addons for +10m that's still 2m under the range I believe which gives survivors a second or two of heartbeat unless she has some sort of stealth active.

I agree, a cap of 2 blinks but I would like everything else to stay the same as it is so no muscle memory is touched. Distance, time to charge, etc... Then we can redo the few addons that would throw a wrench into this and viola!

    @APoipleTurtle said:

    Definitely an interesting suggestion.

As a thought, would this also have the potential for Nurse to regain her base third Blink?

With the basic rundown per full meter being:

    -1 Long range blink

-2 Mid range blinks (or 1 long-ish blink followed by a short blink)

-3 Short blinks (from basically just tapping the button or holding it for less than a second)

Just a consideration. Not exactly trying to restore Nurse to her original Over-9000 power level, but it seems like it could be a feasible reintroduction to her kit under this idea. Well, so long as she didn't get any add-ons to extend the total length of the meter.

I like operating this idea under the principle that you get 1 full blink chain per full meter (1 fully charged 1st blink and fully charged 2nd in a row)

However, I guess this could be a way to introduce 3-blink as base again, although I doubt very little of the community would go for that.

Only problem is though that if you are proficient with 2 blinks you will be extra buffed by not using your third to save extra meter. Something to consider.

  • @smexxyhexxy said:

This would solve one of nurse's most frustrating problems without increasing her power level too much (not that she's too strong right now).

you haven't seen it in action though. It's stupid hard to pull of and if the survivor turns at all, you won't get the one shot. It's not effective,. it's a waste of time unless you corner a survivor.

That's what I assumed but I haven't seen in action repeatedly yet. If it's only working in situations like that than there's no real reason to keep it.

  • Well it's a Nurse thread discussing the rework. What else did you expect other than discourse about Nurse?

  • @EvilJoshy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1312964#Comment_1312964

The reason I'm not playing Nurse is she feels very buggy since her rework. Before the rework I was a good nurse, not a great nurse. Never used more than 2 blinks. After the rework now I'm an okay nurse. The recharge requires me to save one of my blinks when traversing the map because I don't want to find someone and be empty. Normally I have to use my blinks just to close distance then wait for recharge and blink again to try to land a hit. Survivors don't even try to juke her anymore. They just run in a straight line when they are first spotted because they know she can't catch up to them on the first set of blinks without range add ons. When I try to do a quick blink through an object there's a good chance I won't pass through it. Missing a blink feels very punishing. I know how to play as Nurse but I just don't have fun with it anymore. It feels like I'm fighting the game as well as 4 other people.

Well said. It'd be one thing if the rework had been just a bad rework, but it was so damn buggy too.

Your counterargument is flawed at its core: YOU CANNOT SPAM HUNTRESS HATCHETS AND THEY ARE WEAKER THAN BLINKS. Seriously, you get basekit 5 and they don't phase though walls or have a giant hitbox.

Nurse was extremely, extremely spammable. You didn't need the precise muscle memory and reflexes you now require, you just had to get in the general area and the survivor wouldn't have enough time to get away even if you whiffed. Spam city and they're down, no counter and no real gameplay. You can only juke a bad nurse consistently, and she could recover, learn and come at you again in 2.5 seconds. That is the definition of spammable. No mindgames, no skill, just eventually landing on you. And since it was old nurse, that "eventually" was about 30 seconds because all she had was blink fatigue.

But sure, just assume I was meaning that you never, ever, ever, ever hit m1 in the entire match. Pretend that more than a basic knowledge of timing and distance mattered. Pretend that the time put in to reaching her skill floor was more than a few hours. Pretend that Nurse couldn't spam her power and get you down because she recovered from her mistakes far too quickly.

Explain to me how you blink attack a survivor.

Go through the process and explain each component and the skill it requires and how all of it coalesces into a blink attack. Whether you can do them in rapid succession or not is not the question. You're arguing it took no skill and "eventually" you just get an attack. But that simply isn't true. You have to have the skill to land the attack as well as the availability to blink attack. Just using blinks over and over and over won't "eventually" just net you a magical hit. You still had to do everything else right.

@ABannedCat Damn that really sucks. I didn't have the patience to wait for a lobby to try and find the new bugs for Nurse. That's a big yikes indeed.

  • @ABannedCat said:

While I personally disagree with the recharge mechanics of her blinks, I Iearned to adapt to it. I can see the balance arguments in favour of it, considering she is the strongest killer in the game.

Her bugs on the other hands, are really getting out of control. Its been 12 months now since dedicated servers were introduced, and 7 months since her rework. Both brought a multitude of gamebreaking bugs to her, and not a single one has been fixed (with the exception of the Spasmodic Breath addon bug, which benfitted the killer, and got fixed within a week).

And now in the PTB, where there is a weird vertical mouse movement sensitivity change, as well as a higher cap how much you can look up or down, she just keeps getting nerfed with every patch.

Oh no, you mean that sensitivity that PH has isn't unique to him, but is intended for all killers?

    YIKES

  • @MadLordJack said:

Please no. Old nurse was extremely unfair. There was no real punishment for making mistakes, addons or otherwise. Miss? Spam away. Still gonna hit them quicker than any other killer. Nurse is still extremely unfair, but now she requires actual skill to play beyond basics. Does she need some love? Yes, her glitches make it almost impossible to play her. But the nurse nerf was justified, and barring glitches her strength is still there. You just have to be actually good to play her now, instead of spending a few matches learning the basics before spamming away.

The spamming argument is flawed at its core. If you spam Huntress hatchets does that mean you get automatic value and reward out of them? No. It doesn't.

It's the same for blinking. If you do nothing but hold m2 and "spam" away you won't get anything done. You still need all the other skill components to get hits. Timing, distance, mind-games, trajectory, all of these were necessary to get hits. Just spamming doesn't give you anything.

But if we must keep a stupid powerbar for her all I ask is to either let it slowly charge while you're holding a blink so you don't get that annoying 99% "feature", or make it work like Pyramid Heads where it just drains from the total bar for each blink instead of having to charge each one discretely.

  • Oh I cannot wait till I get lobbies full of people who rely on the 360.

    I will make them suffer.

Noone wants old 2 Blink Nurse back. She was OP af. And dont say: No she was dine. All fine Nurse Mains played her addon-less and still 4ked with ease.

Maybe if more than 5 people tried to run differently when facing her they might actually live longer.

An overwhelming majority of survivors never tried to do anything different than run around pallets. They still do, but now I get punished extra hard for missing or getting ######### over by the game with the numerous bugs so it's fine now. They don't have to change anything and can just loop her like any other killer.

    Because that's so fun.

  • I've given up hope that the devs will revert the change or make her any better.

All I ask for now is that her powerbar work like Pyramid Heads. Why couldn't they do that with it? Then it wouldn't be such a nightmare like it is now.

Oh no survivors trying to escape. Simple.

It's clear as day there are only certain perks a majority of the community runs.

This means either we need more perks to rival the strength of the meta perks, or we nerf the meta perks to be similar to their weaker, lesser played options.

I get EXTREMELY tired of seeing the 67th trillion DH or DS tbh.

The Feng skin makes sense. She is Chinese, so going to festivals makes sense

This one feels like a stretch.

Yeah I probably would've worded it differently.

Why would they be delusional? It took them over 3 years to do anything about nurse.

Nurse was fine. Survivors had every tool they needed to evade her; most didn't do it and choose to loop her like any other killer and suffered for it.

New Doctor's downside is the that his kit motivates him to go for whoever screamed last. Go in the opposite direction of any scream you hear.

    That's ominously good advice lmao

Yes, not to mention that also sensitivity is different (or at least was, when ptb launched) depending if you are moving or not.

You know I never noticed that! I hope they make it all the same sensitivity through and through.

Can you imagine if Nurse's sensitivity went through the roof every time she tried to blink?

Implying people wouldn't contribute out of sheer desire to do so if their basic needs were met. Ever hear of 99% of the modding community?

Don't you know anything good can't exist if there isn't a monetary motivation behind it?

  • If they keep that stupid sensitivity jump when you're going for Punishment of the Damned then he'll be fine. That ######### ruins the range attack and makes it VERY hard to use.
