How many killers in this game do you know that have to be right on you to pull off a 1 shot down?
You're right, there are others and some of them must get as close to down them cough chainsaws.
IDK, I guess since he has a ranged attack if just feels dumb to turn it into a chainsaw. It feels more rewarding and skillful to hit them twice with Punishment rather than just walk up to them and get it in one hit.
Certainly more effective that way tho.

The ######### is this, we're not here for your damn PolSci TED talk. Jeez.
It's relevant to the topic OP posted. I postulate the drive for money and the pursuit of profits blind companies to what their customers want.
That drive for money and greed comes from our system (
cronycapitalism) that encourages and rewards that BHVR.That BHVR then means we stop getting content we want and start transitioning into profitable content. Doesn't matter what else it is, as long as it makes a profit.

I just think its stupid and ridiculous to try and insert your politics on a video game forum. I could make you look stupid, thats nkt a hard thing to do to commies. This just isnt the place for it so instead Im just going to face palm again and then laugh.
🤦♂️😂😂😂😂
And you look stupid for supporting a system that is actively oppressing you and destroying the environment (planet more specifically) that you LIVE ON.
I'm also not a "commie" While communism has some good points, much like capitalism is doesn't work. Neither does pure Socialism. But please keep assuming things because that's always worked and never failed just like capitalism.

I'll wait why you name another economic system that puts profits above people, and continues to destroy thousands of lives, and wreck the ecosystem of our Earth for things that don't matter and get thrown away back into the same place they pulled it from.
I don't think they intended MoM to be so powerful but who knows for certain.

It's cathartic until you realize it doesn't do anything, sadly.
It's unfortunate but capitalism will sink it's filthy claws into everything including game studios.

If someone else becomes the obsession wouldn't that reactivate the perks ability to gain/lose tokens?

Since we got Freddy's rework I've always thought about a power that lets you teleport to hooks or lockers. IDK how good it would be, that's something that really needs testing.

@Peanits said:
Conspiracies aside, yes, of course we do. There's some in just about every patch; sometimes there's even so many that there's a dedicated "Killer Bug Fixes" section in the patch notes. Even this PTB has some (more to come with the full release): https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/194-4-0-0-ptb
To put it simply, there's a lot more moving parts when it comes to killers, which means that there's a lot more that can go wrong. Every survivor is identical in terms of gameplay, they just have different visuals and voices. Meanwhile every killer not only has shared issues, but also have their own unique power and add-ons that affect them, requiring their own animations. Their perks can also interact with powers differently in unintended ways (Play With Your Food, for example). I know it seems as simple as "two sides" and might come across as favouring one side over the other, but it's really a matter of 21 different things. There's 1 baseline survivor, and then there's 20 killers. If you fix a bug for a survivor, you've fixed it for all survivors. But if you fix a bug for Freddy, that doesn't fix something for Demogorgon.
On that note:
- We are working on this one. This is a high priority. The issue with bugs like these is that there's no consistent way to reproduce it. If you don't know what's causing it, it's way harder to fix it. That said, we're hoping to get this fixed as soon as possible, it's not forgotten.
- Please report this when it happens. These are usually caused by specific spots where the killer cannot get to. We fix them when we see them, but we need people to report these sorts of things in order for us to see them.
- I can't say I've seen this happen before. There may be some sort of interference on your end, possibly a hardware issue (doesn't have to be the controller itself). Still, I would suggest creating a bug report and give as many details as you can. If anyone else is having the same issue, they'll be able to chime in and give some details.
- The bug here is for the most part in the animation; you are not meant to get the grab. The survivor already let go, and teleporting them back so you can grab them would be massively unfair. That said, this is something that's going to be improved upon in the future. We're going to revisit interactions and update them to work better on servers so everything looks like it should.
A quick explanation for the last one: You sent a message saying, "I want to grab this guy." and they sent a message saying, "I let go." Whichever one gets to the server first normally wins. Typically that's whichever message gets to the server first, but it also takes time for the response from the server to get back. With that in mind, you start the grab animation immediately and send your "I'm grabbing him" message, then the server goes, "No, you can't, he already let go." Your client doesn't know that until it gets the message back, and so your grab gets cancelled.
I greatly look forward to the grab fixes. It's extremely unfair when you're Nurse and you get double stunned AND the grab gets away without being hit.

@SpookyStabby exactly. With some hemorrhage add-on, its much easier to track than scratch mark since its not all over the place.
The real question is would Sloppy, Bloodhound, and Hemorrhage stack to create a near red line behind a survivor? Bloodhound + Sloppy get's kinda close.
-
I'm going to be facetious for a second and say killer bugs are only fixed in a timely manner when it literally breaks the game or negatively impacts survivor experience.
Bugs that negatively affect only killers take a very long time to fix to the point where Nurse still has game-breaking bugs from YEARS ago. But they don't make survivors have less fun so it's not priority.
-
Yeah I was like ######### where is the new roadmap but I just assumed it isn't quite ready yet.

What do you mean by "ruin someone elses experience"? Does going against a really good team ruin someones experience? If so then a good solo team can do the exact same thing.
If you are talking about bming in general then that's just how online games are. I don't think they're going to remove teabagging or anything.
The actual problem is how strong a team of 4 amazing survivors can be, regardless if they're playing swf or not, and when you add stuff like keys on top of that it becomes nightmare. People keep blaming that on swf for some reason and this problem is starting to going away with the map reworks.
I actually agree with you. A good group of solos is pretty much indistinguishable from SWF.
The reason I hammer home SWF though is because if we can balance the game around a single type of survivor instead of 2 [solo & SWF] the game will be better balanced and also easier to balance. Might as well balance around a group setting since it's easier to implement one than prevent an outside one from happening.
-
I can't wait until the rework and it's just a single line like Clown's, and butchered like Nurse.
[The Cannibal] Added a power meter to the chainsaw that drains meter for every second it is active and the distance it covers.

"Pro" SWFs are a small percentage of a small percentage, and the game should absolutely not be balanced around them. Most SWFs are not remotely optimal, and even most of the ones that strive to be optimal are beatable with good killers by good killers.
Yes, if you get actual pro style SWFs, you'll struggle to get hooks with any killer other than Spirit or Nurse. But there are probably 30 teams max out there that play that way on PC.
You can't say SWF isn't a problem because it's a small % then immediately go and say there are SWF that destroy the balance of the game and the best thing to do is 'suck it up'
Yeah no. They've taken advantage of the game mechanics and are trying to ruin someone elses experience. That ######### should be a priority. I've had a few friends turn away from this game because it's so extremely toxic even at new ranks. That. Is. A. Problem.

No one is denying the advantage of SWF but a lot of times people just use that as the reason they lost, even if they played bad in that match or if they simply got outplayed. I guarantee you that most of the time those complaining about SWF would have still lost to that team even if those people weren't communicating.
It's hard to differentiate whether they would've won without all the extra communication and free perks though.
-
We can only (devour) hope man.
I don't think I've seen one person complain about the new 2nd stage in cages.

I hope you realize if a perk "can't be abused by SWF" it likely won't shift the meta. If you are implying that the current meta is entirely "abusable".
Yeah I would say having something like DH which can extended chases on all 4 survivors, AND it recharges is pretty broke.
They have started to work on it at least. Look at the newest obsession perk. If it was designed like the other bullshit ones cough OoO cough the obsession would benefit with almost no downside at all and even if you weren't the obsession you still got a free obsession perk.
Now if you're not the obsession you don't get anything. That's not going to be abusable x4. There are ways to design powerful perks that aren't going to ruin the balance of the game if it gets x4.

So this is about bullying then? If it were designed around solo play they would have never included the option to add friends. Complaining about a group play feature when discord has been around for a long time is just idiotic. Always assume the survivors are communicating, if you actually play with friends in comms it will make you a better killer because you can anticipate what their priorities are at any given time.
At this point they've made is such a chore to filter the SWF groups out I only ever dodge if I see a clearly toxic 4 man flashlight group or a bunch of legacy clothes. (not risking a hacker for even more fun)
I agree the game should be balanced around 4 survivors communicating. It's clearly what the community likes best about survivor. With that in mind, we should strive to balance it so there aren't 2 different gamemodes for survivors but only 1 for killers. (Let's be honest, the gap in skill between solo and SWF accounts for an entirely different gamemode)
But right now it's not. Things are not designed around 24/7 open communication, and perks are still easily abuse-able with 4 copies on all survivors, let alone all the 'tech' that only SWF can do.

Babysitter and Dead Man's Switch fuel SWF groups? I don't think hook based perks are inherently unhealthy, every type of perk has that capacity. Wake up is a good example.
You're right. I'm not saying every hook perk is bad. That was a hyperbole. I just meant that with DS and BT, hook perks are something we can take a break from and let's get new perks that are useful and hopefully can't be abused by SWF. I know that's asking for too much but I'm gonna ask for it anyways lol.

They're not common to go against, as much as many don't like going against them, they need to understand that they're trying to have fun. Many claim that they're out there to "ruin" people's fun, that may apply to some, but the most I gone against were good sports. Knowing pregame if they are a 4 man and choose to dodge, will create even longer queues. That's the last thing we want.
Not addressing an issue just because only a small portion of the community has to deal with it is NOT a reason to ignore SWF and the massive balance issues it has.
This game was DESIGNED AROUND SOLO PLAY. I do not want SWF to be removed, I just it to be on par with solo survivors at least a little bit. Nothing in this game is more unfun (except Nurse with bug fest) than 4 people trying to actively bully you. Shouldn't be possible.

I don't see any healing perks in S tier. I guess we'll see who was right when PH goes live.
I'm glad there's a killer that has built in counter to hook perks. They're becoming oppressive and every new perk like it that releases just fuels the toxic SWF groups even more.
-
I disagree.
It's nor primarily run because it's an escape from a hook, it's run because it's a free escape from being downed. Hook distance is only useful in this conversation to distract from that real issue.
You're not meant to escape by wiggling out, it's primary purpose is to force the killer to hook you nearby where you were downed instead of bringing you to the basement every single time. If all it took was Flip-Flop to have a good chance at AVOIDING hooks altogether the meta would be wiggle-out loadouts mixed with sabotage set-ups. But it's not. Right now it's all about second chances [DS, DH, BT, etc...] and making it take as much time and hits as possible to down someone.

I'm talking about a shift in the meta lol
I guess that's what I'm not understanding about your argument. If you believe PH will turn the meta around just because he cancels DS... I doubt it. Not everyone is going to run him and not everyone is going to drop perks like DS just because he exists.
If anything he's just another Plague. She completely turns off some perks but it's not really a problem and certainly not meta-defining. Once people learn how to counter him I'm positive he'll have to rely more on hooking than we are seeing now.

DS just got more incentive against bringing it. A major complaint killers had was seeing DS too often. What do we get when we add these facts together?
That 1 in 20 killers won't have to deal with DS? 19/20 seems to be more than a fair amount to me man.
-
@Eleghost said:
do remember this is on ptb and due to feedback i'd probably think they will make cages the same as being hooked so most perks aren't useless. Could be wrong but it wouldn't make sense for you to be basically unable to act whilst in a cage when you have perks to save yourself from the hook or something of the sort.
I believe that's the point though. As a survivor your job is to evade the trenches while running from him. He gets rewarded with an easy and quick hook but still loses out as much as a survivor does if both are running hook perks.

I’m rank 1 with both killer and survivor. Yet as a flex player I see how broken and stupid she is. You ask who else? Noone. It’s just her. Terrible design. Play against her at rank one over and over again with no dedicated counter build. Tell me how fair it was.
Well to be honest I was expecting a list of things.
I can agree that it's not exactly the best design ever, but I don't think it's so bad it's broken. At base kit she seems fine to me. More reliant on luck but your skill is still a paramount factor.

11 months to buff the Plague, 2 years to buff the Clown. Don't get me wrong, it is great they have buffed the Clown but it shouldn't be taking this long to gather enough data for these kinds of buffs.
I would hope BHVR are aware that their update process for existing killers (not killers currently in PTB) needs looking at.
2 painstaking years to gather enough data for a single sentence buff for Clown, but only a few months to completely slaughter Nurse.

True, plus it's hard to camp and tunnel survivors in cages. WMI is near unusable at this point, and the devs will never make changes to these perks to compensate for the existence of these counters. It kind of pushes survivors into a tighter meta perk pool with few good perks coming in to alleviate the issue. At least killers can't whine about DS any more.
At least PH Killers* can't whine about DS anymore.
The rest of the cast still has to deal with it.
Does anyone know if caged survivors count as hooked or injured for the sake of Thanatophobia?

There is littearly nothing to learn against her. You should know it as well. Drop the pallet than don’t voult...or wault a window quietly bah plah blah. She will 50% appear at your face anyway no matter what you do (Without IW). There is zero telltale of what path she takes to go after you. Every sane person sees that it’s broken.
I'm curious. What else, or I guess who else, do you think is broken?
-
@Gomolazoli said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1308120#Comment_1308120
So if you’re injured you meant to be doomed just because she uses her izibizi ability? Because that’s how it works now. Sure you can use IW but if I’m expected to bring it to every single match just to have fair chases if it’s a Spirit that’s already a broken ass design.
At least you can counter your problem with a perk.
We can't counter toxic SWF, DS, DH, BT, Adrenaline, etc... with perks, let alone ONE SINGLE PERK.
And it's not a free hit while you're injured when she uses her power, she still has to find you and actually hit you. It's certainly one of the easiest times she has hitting people but by no means is it a free hit.
It's this same kind of thinking and refusal to try and counter the killer that lead to Nurse nerfs.
-
It's a cool map but I hate how it locks you into running around the hallways just to get out of the building or up to the 2nd story. It feels very meh in terms of gameplay. Looks nice though except for that one garbage fire in the courtyard that completely hides survivors with it's blinding flare effect.
-
All you need to do is walk and a majority of the time she won't have any clues to find you.
If you're injured well... you're injured. You should be scared and worried. If you aren't what is the point of being a survivor?
Killing yourself on first hook won't make any changes to the game and it will only ######### over your teammates.

I don't know if I'd make that comparison; while the Deathslinger is slower, he also has next to no windup time. Pyramid Head, on the other hand, has to charge up his power first, and creates a zone that the survivors can see and react to if they've got fast reflexes. His turning speed is also limited while he's doing this, so making sharp adjustments is much more difficult.
Please tell me your going to adjust the sensitivity while Rites is active and PLEASE PLEASE lower the sensitivity jump when you're trying to use Punished of the Damned.

To be fair when it's a new license killer they usually focus almost exclusively on that for content and combine it with bug fixes so this isn't too unexpected or bad, just disappointing.

Welp you can jump on YouTube and find a ton of videos of people hacking and ruining dbd matches.
I really not want the same scandal that modern warfare has currently.
People asking for a feature to opt out is not that big of a deal and you have no say in the matter.
Someone tag a dev so we can get an answer
Well when you look specifically for something you're going to find a lot of it. But take ALLLLLL those videos into context: 1000's of hacker videos vs MILLIONS of completed games.
I won't say that the hackers shouldn't be dealt with or anything like that, just that it isn't a rampant problem in DbD.
-
Can we nerf Nurses's extremely OP red and purple addons to help her basekit? I'll take that T_T
-
If this was a competitive FPS I'd agree with you 100%
But it's not. Devs refuse to call it competitive but still implement competitive solutions/band-aids, so we're going down this road.
It won't matter too much in this game outside of Nurse/Huntress/Deathslinger tbh.
-
Since you play at 4k, do you play at 240? Well at least on other games. I don't think DbD supports past 144.

They seem quite scared of adding an additional slot for any role in any way.
I don't really blame them of concerns regarding this, it might create loads more needed balancing that'll take time away from other balancing.
But i'd figure a PTB would be the perfect place to try out 1 or multiple additional slots...
No doubt.
I've always found it weird that an asymmetric game tries to force symmetry so hard on things like perk slots. It would make sense that the killer has at least 1 more perk slot than survivors, they are supposed to be more powerful after all. But that's why I feel if the new slot is dedicated to hexes only it will stop the rampant abuse of 5 perks that would happen.
What's the worst that happens with an extra hex that most people never bring in anyways? Hex builds get 5 perks but they can't be in 5 places at once.

In my opinion the cage will only be useful against altruistic survivors and if you know that most of them are more or less near, because using the cage can backfire if one survivor is near that cage which would result in much less map pressure
Monitor and Infectious would help in making that decision maybe.
There's so many scenarios it's really just a matter of preference and the situations you find yourself in frequently.
I like having them sit on the floor while I chase someone on top of them. Classic chase pressure and downed pressure, and when they want to try and get them up NOPE CAGE BITCHES

IDK what you're complaining about specifically, but I'm guessing it's the fact that you're losing or the fact that people are acting stupid. Maybe the problem is just kinda on your side, getting offended? I mean, that sounds like the whole point of the post: you're offended that people play that way on the PTB. All I can really say to that is just roll with it, and accept it for what it is. You'll run into people like that in the live servers, so it's not different on the PTB. There's no use dwelling on it when it's something you can't change, and it's just something that people like to do in games: be annoying.
It's just frustrating that this game attracts all the toxic people in the world. I'd actually like to try and enjoy a game without at least 1 survivor feeling the need to be toxic and rude.
