  • To be honest I don't care about the lore or backstory of any of the characters, DBD isn't exactly story driven is it, you could make up your own history for any of the characters and it would have zero impact on how the game is played.

For me the main thing is how they look and how they play.

I'm not trying to derail your thread or misguide you but you seem like you want to learn nurse because you want to master a strong char so you can stop getting destroyed

Again not trying to discourage you but why not simply learn hag instead?

She's really strong and helps you learn and memorize the maps, tiles, and totem spawns

No not at all, I tend to do pretty well with Legion and Clown and a few others, but the ones I tend to do well with are pretty much M1 killers, when I said I was having a hard time with Legion I meant that I was just getting a bit bored with them.

I've played Hag a few times but I just end up camping hooks with her lol

  • I had a few more games with her earlier, it is so satisfying when you manage to land a hit right out of a blink, first game I had was on Dead Dawg Saloon and I didn't get a single hook but I was gen rushed in a big way, I think I only managed to land 3 hits in the whole game, the team were fine though, they did the gens and got out so I can't complain at all.

Second game was in Eyrie of Crows and I got 3k and the final survivor got the hatch, they weren't the best team so it was a good chance to practice on them, I'm getting better, it really is the short distance blinks that I am struggling with in a big way,.

Also as Chordyceps mentioned, knowing when not to swing is a big learning curve, I'm constantly missing or I'm blinking too soon, before I have my second blink ready.

    She's good fun though.

  • Ha, the other day I was playing and I got 5 unhooks and did 2 out of the 5 gens, Killer got me when there was 1 gen left, I was running Kindred and all 3 of them were huddled around the same gen on the other side of the map, they stayed there until it was finished and all 3 of them ran to the same exit gate and just ran out.

Thing is that with Kindred they would have known that the killer wasn't camping me and they could have quite easily got the save, I was a little annoyed at that one I'll admit, first hook at end game and they just left me to die.

I always try to get as many unhooks as I can, unless I'm on my second hook early in the game then I'll go stealth mode and just try to survive and hug as many gens as possible.

  • I've kept a log of my last 42 games

I've come up against Ghostface and Trickster 5 times each and Trapper and Huntress 4 times each

  • I play solo a lot of the time, when I'm not in solo then I play with one pal.

I escape about 50% of the time whether I'm playing on my own or not.

I always run kindred and borrowed time, when I'm playing with my mate I am more inclined to play risky and get into chases with the killer or go for risky unhooks, when I play on my own I am a little more cautious, I'll focus more on doing gens and hiding from the killer and going for more safe unhooks to avoid copping a whack from the killer.

I don't have any problem with solo Q and enjoy it just as much.

  • I still think that Pale Man from Pans Labyrinth would be awesome

  • The snowmen don't bother me at all, apart from the fact that I main The Twins when I play killer and I c a nt play them till after this event

  • I had a game earlier on this morning, solo Q, we were up against The Nurse, for the whole game 3 of us were playing really well, didn't see Claudette once (surprise surprise) we were running round, unhooking each other, taking protective shots, doing gens, just all playing really well, got the last gen done, gate was unlocked and me and the other player went to save (I think it was) Meg off the hook, did it made it to the gate only to be greeted by Claudette standing right at the exit spinning round in circles.

Gotta be honest I found it highly amusing, we all finished with 20k+ BP's, Claudette finished with 12k lol

Funny how i just said this in another thread.

The thing is killer is just stressfull by design. They are in constant action and under constant time pressure. There never is a real downtime with killer unless your so far ahead you can't lose anymore.

Survivors just don't have this as much. While you will have times where you get tunneled back to back a single game where someone else is the target is all you need to atleast regain a little composure.

Couple that with the state of balance and killer mistakes in general being much harder punished then survivor mistakes and you have a role that's under constant pressure.

The frustration builds up causing more mistakes and more frustration untill it suddenly snaps.

You'll notice that a lot of these "I'm leaving" generally come from "mains" very rarely will somebody make a goodby post and say they play both sides. They always play the most pressured side back to back. Being a pure killermain wouldn't be a good idea even if the game was more balanced

That's why M'Cote's advice of "play something else" is so misunderstood. It really makes a world of difference to even have a little breathing room. It's one of the best advices we could have had but we took it completly the wrong way.

Even the most intense action movie will never have action non-stop. It's always action into slow scene into action into slow scene etc.

Our brain is just not wired to deal with that constant stimulation. The game and bassicly everything in life becomes a lot less frustrating if you remind yourself to take a step back once in a while

I stopped reading the thread at this post because it is completely spot on.

I'm up to the red ranks for survivor and I'm at silver 1 on killer, I play survivor more often but I still put in a fair bit of time with killer, I'll probably have 3 survivor games to 1 killer game but I enjoy both, yes killer can be extremely unrewarding and at times downright unenjoyable, pop back onto survivor have a couple of chilled out games and then go back to killer.

And when I say that killer can be extremely unrewarding it can also be a helluva lot more rewarding than survivor.

escaping a game after escaping three chases getting 2 unhooks and popping 3 gens is nowhere near as rewarding as nailing your perks, acing all of your chases and getting 4k with only one or two gens pop as killer

  • Pretty strong opinions to have after just over a month, I've bought games that I didn't get on with as well, I stop playing them and move on to something I prefer.

I reckon you'll see loads of these posts popping up "I hate the game, I'm going to play Propnight, why don't you come and join me" "DBD is trash, we should all go and play VHS"

All these games can survive alongside each other, just play the one you enjoy.

Me, I still have good fun on DBD, if that changes I might have a look at the competitors but I won't be going over to their forums and absolutely hammering the games at any point.

  • I've had two games tonight, both was against The Old Crow.

First game was on her map as well, I quite like it but its a bit too bright, had a good game against her but I get the feeling that the killer didn't really know how to play her, I was trying to do a challenge so she ended up killing me (and Bill) quite an enjoyable game though.

Second game was on one of the old maps, again I was trying to get a challenge done and again she got the kill against me, second game was a lot tougher though.

All in all I'm quite happy with how she looks.

I won't be buying her just yet though, I'll wait for the hype to die down and she'll no doubt get nerfed or buffed and I'll buy her then.

Has anyone used the survivor yet? any idea if the perks are any good?

  • I usually play after 7:30pm.

One thing I can say though is that I never play Killer on a Saturday or Sunday evening, that is when the SWF wolves come out to hunt and torment the poor little Demopup, for weeks in a row now weekend evenings are just insanely mismatched, Sunday morning 10am? find no problem, Sunday night 10pm? absolute torture.

  • I tend to switch it up quite a bit when I play killer but my mains are Twins, Demo and Legion

I do like Myers, Freddy and Clown as well

  • Sometimes I'll stick Empathy on and I'll end up spending all my time sprinting from one side of the map to the other healing people, it works pretty well as it leaves them free to take a hit while doing a gen or while getting a chase knowing that as long as they escape Claudette will come running over the hill with her healing hands ready to give them the old butt rub and get them ready to go back into battle.

Usually I'm all against these 'delete...' posts but I agree with this, can't stand him.

Oh oh and delete twins while you're there too.

Noooooooo leave The Twins alone, I love playing as VicVic

  • I think that they could have a way with interacting with the crows around the maps, something like Spies from the shadows but more overpowered

  • OP says "I honestly believe DBD is a bad video game" yet has nearly 1000 posts on a DBD forum, there must be something about it that you like if you keep posting on here.

  • I enjoy going up against Bubba, it always seems like he will either get 4k or 0k, there isn't really any inbetween with him, its always a nervy first few minutes while you figure out what type of killer you are up against.

I like playing with him as well, I always run Bamboozle as well, without that it would be extremely difficult to play him.

  • I want a refund on all my DBD purchases, I've gotta admit I'm pretty happy with them but if people are giving out refunds and I can keep my DLC then I'll take it

  • happened to me.

    PS4 - uk GMT

I'm guessing that I'm alright to spend these points right?

  • I've only just started playing The Twins and I love them, I told actually use them to camp too much either, I tend to just amble around as Charlotte and when I spot a survivor I'll get myself within a decent distance and then unbind Victor, get him to latch on and then walk the short distance as Charlotte and down them, hook the survivor and start wondering around looking for someone else, obviously there are times when Victor is off doing his own thing but majority of the time I keep him with me until I'm ready for a chase.

It works pretty well, survivors can't complain that you are camping and you definitely aren't slugging because they get picked up within a few seconds of being downed.

I don't play that way not to piss people off, that was just the style I took to when I first started with them (which was only about a week ago) but I always tend to get a fair few kills that way.

  • Legion is one of my more used killers just lately, I enjoy using them, I get what you mean in that they are a little underwhelming basically its a dude with a knife who can run fast but not actually do much damage, I still enjoy them though, mainly when a survivor can hear the heartbeat and starts panicking and runs right into me because they think that I'm a fellow survivor.

  • One thing is that you say a few times "they just do gens" I don't have a problem with this, if they are all doing gens then its down to me to stop them, I mean that is the main objective of the game isn't it, complete the gens open the exit gates and get out.

You are obviously at a higher level than me so I haven't come up the problems to the extent that you have but I don't get what the problem with them doing gens is?

I've just had a game and 2 out of the 4 players absolutely ran me ragged, I managed to get 1 kill in the game and it just wasn't any fun, I didn't get the chance to even patrol any gens because these pair were in my face constantly, the knew every trick in the book, luckily I had to chase survivors for 180 seconds as Legion so it actually helped me out, only problem is that I was chasing them for about 10 minutes.

  • I always thought that The Clown was a good one for a beginner, he isn't the fastest but the potions are easy to use and provide a good slow down, if you are mismatched and come up against a real good team who just want to run you ragged then you will probably struggle but he's a decent one to learn on I'd say.

Failing that I would say Legion are good, they have some great perks (discordance - it lets you know when more than one person is working on a gen) and then you can activate you feral powers and sprint across the map quick time and land a couple of hits, also Legion has the ability to vault pallets so you can surprise survivors with that if you can time it right.

I get a feeling that most people will disagree with me on them two but they are who I'd recommend anyway.
