  • I personally don't want any more IPs. Original characters are cooler and more creative. I know they'll keep doing it because $$$ but I think it's kinda goofy.

But yeah, The Thing or Tall Man would be okay if I have to have IPs. At least those have classic status, unlike the last few IPs, which are only a decade or so old.

BHVR needs to optimize/fix the particle effects in their game. Particle effects, especially with the added lighting effects, are huge resource hogs. There are places on maps I outright avoid because they always always always turn my PS4 Pro's fans into jet engines. What's the point of trying to work on the gen in the basement of the Badham house when I can't hear the skill checks or the killer terror radius over the deafening fans? (No, I'm not going to turn my headphones up to ear-damaging levels.) It's just a fool's errand and a death sentence.

Also, the atmospheric haze on some of the Withered Isle maps combined with the street lights create areas where I have about zero visibility, it's like someone is driving with their high beams on in the fog. Some of DbD's are really hard on my eyes at times.

I don't even like the way DbD's rolling fog looks. To me, it fails hard at being atmospheric and instead is like visual clutter.

Yeah Withered Isle has some rough glares and I like those maps too.

And my poor PS5 also works overtime with this game. Buddy gets so hot.

  • I'd like something more ambient and less glare-heavy. The loud yellows of Eyrie combined with the haze makes my sensitive eyes pretty much blind on that map. I think it's one of the coolest looking maps but my match is half doomed just for being there.

  • I cant say I've ever judged any killer perks but endgame builds (noed, blood warden, haywire, remember me, etc), which I usually see on terrible players who refuse to take the Ls they earned. The one thing I'm not judging on either side is NOT using meta perks. As killer, in particular, I'm so tried of seeing the same lithe/sprint burst/finesse combos. I mostly don't run meta perks on either side. They're so boring to me. It's refreshing when I see different and creative builds.

You really should try Wesker with an undetectable build. When his huge terror radius is gone you just pop out at people and it's hella funny. Both as survivor and killer I like to be comical. Don't take things serious. If you do terrible then open the door for the survivors and spin around in circles or do some other goofy thing, even if they were rude with the tainting and emoting. You're gonna lose anyway so why not have fun with it? It really helps flip things around when the tone is bad.

  • I had a horrible night last night. 14 deaths, about half involving egregious tunneling, camping, and slugging. In one match, my teammates left me to die on first hook with no thought of saving me. Just ran out the door.

Bad and clueless teammates are a huge issue. I feel ike I should at least be out of the MMR bracket that puts me with people who don't understand the game at all. Hours played should factor into matchmaking.

I almost never face Kaneki though. It's like once every 50-100 matches. I don't know why everyone sees him more than I do. Thankfully my Clowns have been minimal too, because they've been super viscious and unforgiving.

  • Absolutely not. I hate useless cowards but people would misjudge the hell out of this. I use locker-based perks and also go into them to avoid BBQ. Even using them tactically I already have to be so cautious of my team's judgmental eyes. This game doesn't need any mire extra, misguided sandbagging.

Just checking back in to note that I have not seen a fog vial at all while playing today, so if your goal was to completely eliminate the brand new item - mission accomplished.

Can we have some compensation now for all the bloodpoints you made us spent on these useless things?

I used one just to see if it worked with Built to Last. I don't know why I did it. I don't intend to use them again unless the opacity is restored. Thing was useless.

I don't feel like survivor has this specific problem that i have with killer. Even with my best build i die more than i escape, which is great, most of the time the challenge is there. I do not feel limited at all when i play survivor. I feel like as long as i don't explictly disrespect the killer, i am respecting them. Not the same for killer, when you start playing to begin with and you feel like you're just playing the game, you get taught about the "rulebook", you're made to feel like you disrespect survivor for just playing the game by default as killer.

Is the solution to just prefer survivor? Yes probably but i'm curious if other people share this viewpoint on killer and have a discussion about it.

That's not playing by default. Nothing in the games instructional terminology involves things like tunneling and slugging. The "rulebook" only exists because of social media.

I don't engage with anything but this forum in regards to this game. I don't watch videos, I don't know who these streamers are that people always mention. I couldn't care less, I just play the game. Because I never engage with these things, when I was playing only killer, I never tunneled or slugged because I never saw some stupid video where people did it. It never once occurred to me to leave someone on the ground. The thing your supposed to do is put them on a hook. It wasn't until I started playing survivor and these terrible tactics were endlessly used against me that I even realized they existed.

So yeah, if people hadn't taught each other this trash, there wouldn't need to be a code of decency.

Yeah at the end of the day its randomness of people, i just had bad luck believe it or not againts oni, blight, clown, vecna, ghoul.

That decide to tunnel even tho there is no need for it there was 4 gens left the 1st one took well over a minute.

Today i had dracula match in, rpd i was doing gens entire match and he hooked all in basement and then i was only one left, i just tried to be silly and lead him to that room with the board and started to pretend im writting stuff and told him to sit behind and then we nodded he let me live 🤣

    Screenshot_20250814-175652_Gallery.jpg

I strolled by and discovered this in a recent match. I'm usually very, very anti-sandbagging but the match was essentially over so she did something funny and it worked cause I let her have hatch. I just can't kill a clown.

I can't tell you how often I'm quietly doing a gen while watching my teammates immediately eat it, usually because they did something dumb. At least he let you go. You just gotta give them a good show lol

I had a Deathslinger looking down his sight at me once on Campbell's but I was petting Maurice (the match was hopeless) and he just nodded and walked away. Those are always my most memorable matches. The breaking down of the barrier between the sides is so enjoyable.

  • @Coffee2Go said:

Yeah i get matches where i get 11-20k bp just because i got tunneled.

Not sure why since im on PS5 and my name is nothing fancy or means anything, my skin is fine too like its paid skins who the hell doesnt have at least one.

Like i know the pain i understand it, that needs to go away no questions asked.

I think the targeting is usually just bad luck. I have this same not very interesting name on my PS account. I'm currently wearing the flashiest cosmetic I've ever worn and, if anything, I've had way more mercy from killers since putting it on. My instances of mercy have been on a hard decline since the finisher mori came out but I've had at least 5 mercy hatches or killers who turned goofy after the first two kills in the last couple days. I think it's my overall silliness, because I'm not just dressed loud, I'll also Plot Twist right in front of them. A lot of people can't seem to resist that, and neither can I as killer. If you're funny I'm gonna let you live.

I got tunneled while in a 4-man on comms (we are 0% sweaty) by an Oni recently. My whole team was chasing him to try to help me, and he seemed to do it solely to use his mori offering. I had a match once were the killer was cool with everyone but me and he messaged me after to tell me it was because I was the only one using female character. Lord knows what other silly reasons people make up in their head. I've seen people say they let the person with the best outfit live. We have actual fashion police as killers.

I agree about the vials. Opacity back up, a couple more charges, and adjust them for consistency. That seems to be the reasonable majority view. Only a few people who exclusively play killer seem to feel otherwise. I'm trying to enjoy both sides, and the fog vials let me go full on meme-build clown.

If these recent events tell us anything, all the hard work they're put into whatever their building to combat tunneling and slugging will probably get immediately nerfed into oblivion anyway.

Not sure if this question is for me as I'm not someone who constantly lamenting about it. I'm one of the defenders of it. I'm 100% soloq player these days. Haven't played in a SWF in a few years.

100% honest here, I enjoy soloq. Sure, you can get teammates that can be frustrating but I'm one of those people if I see people trying, I don't mind. You can make the worst mistake possible and totally screw it up for the whole team but if I see you were trying, I don't get frustrated, well not too much. I also enjoy the randomness of it.

Yeah same. If you're active and you're trying then I'm good with you. The selfish ones and the hiders are the ones I can't tolerate.

I would use it mainly like 3 times honestly, like being realistic i need to do gens and not focus on just saving

It depended on the situation. I'm not the annoying flashlight-clicking sort that goes charging after the killer, but if someone is getting hard tunneled I will do my best to take a hit or a down for them.

    198a1b897cd76-screenshotUrl.jpg

I posted this screenshot a little ways up as an example of their inconsistent opacity by map, but the HUD here also happens to be an example of that usage. The Taurie had been unhooked and was back in chase immediately. I could see her above me with Empathy, so I popped the vial on the floor below in hopes that it would spread enough to help. I was on a nearby gen, so it made sense to make the most minor of efforts.

In regards to your follow-up, I agree that it's situational. If your doing some bs like constantly chasing me or bodyblocking every chase I initiate, then yeah, I'll get rid of you. If someone gets unhooked and they try to sabo or hop right back on a gen while injured then yeah, I'll down them again, because they've reenaged with the game instead of running off to heal. My definition of tunneling is actively pursuing a recently unhooked survivor because you want to quickly remove some unlucky and randomly chosen person. I've been that unlucky person, and have had matches where I never even got to touch a gen and got like 5000BP. It sucks.

Same with slugging. Downing someone and then going after someone who's right nearby makes sense. I just expect the killer to come back quickly though, not just leave me there. Downing multiple people at 5gens because you just don't want to play the game is not okay.

Organized parties are also a different situation then hapless soloqers. I assess each team by their behavior. If everyone is acting foolish, then my own ethics are proabably gone.

But I also don't think I've ever seen a full team of gen builds. It's usually one person (I'm that person). Sweaty parties usually have DH, DS, Unbreakable, iri medkits, etc.

I'm also all for slowing down gen progress if it will prevent hard tunneling and lengthy slugs. If that's the balance then fine.

  • @Coffee2Go said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3983267#Comment_3983267

See the issue is, both survivor and killer have one main goal, do gens and escape, kill and prevent the gens to be finished before they get finished.

There is no general rule how it should be played but if you want to be neutral like really neutral and root for both sides to get improved gameplay you should start seeing gen rushing + heal rush same as tunneling, slugging is toxic to certain extent i think leaving downed survivor temporary to down 2nd one that was trying to go for sabotage is fine but leaving all players on ground to bleed and hold game hostage is toxic yes.

Like if we want to be fair here and even grounds the game is flawed since majority of people in higher mmr run gen rush builds and know map tiles and punish u for spreading hooks instead of tunneling best player in team to make it easier.

Look at the streamers they are "pro tunnel" in high mmr when its needed when the gens are popping fast to relieve pressure.

those said streamers tunnel and nobody complains in chat.

Like if we talk about extreme tunneling where u go from one to second survivor tunneling then third and then last survivor then thats extreme tunneling.

I hope everyone on dev team is aware if they fully remove tunneling then the game is pretty much going to be 2 kills max for m1 killers and ability killers it wont change so much as they can still go for 3 kills.

What even is genrushing though? I've never understood this concept. Like what else are the survivors supposed to do at the start of the match but hop on gens? Sure you can bring a gen build to speed it up, but most people don't. If the killer doesn't apply enough pressure universally and instead gets sucked into one hopeless chase, then yeah, gens get done. If built-in slowdown is needed, then there needs to be some sort of mini-objective at the start, like when Pig uses add-ons for immediate RBT or Wesker starts survivors already infected. They could also make it so gens taking longer at the beginning and the needed charges reduce with each completed gen.

But thats the issue, that doing gens and healing are part of the game, but tunneling and slugging are tactics that players came up with on their own. It never even occurred to me to do either when I was exclusively playing killer. Then I started playing survivor and saw how dirty everyone else played.

keep in mind that Franklins Demise very likelly died because of this and now they have charges . Even still i don't think they will revert franklins now even tough they should . I also believe vials will inevitably be buffed up now that they have charges which they always should have . Idk how " lets give this " unlimite charges ever sounded like a good idea.

I'd guess they gave it infinite charges cause they knew it was mid to begin with, and limits like these wouldn't have convinced people to drop medkits long enough to even try it. It's not as though people were randomly popping them off every minute. I'd use it maybe 4 or 5 times max, usually to cover someone's unhook dash to try to prevent tunneling.

  • 198a1b897cd76-screenshotUrl.jpg

Reverting the opacity but also making it consistent across maps is the way. As it is, I don't even know what it's supposed to look like, because it looks different on every map. This was on RPD, in the "Welcome Leon" office, and I was baffled, because on other maps I can see right through it. Maybe try fixing it before nuking it.

  • Has anyone tried this with Built to Last? Does it even work?

Hey folks. I totally hear your concerns here, but also want to give some background. Balancing is an iterative process that takes time to find a sweet spot, and this is very much another step in that process. To quote one of my favourite fantasy series', "journey before destination".

We 100% want to hear your feedback once you get a chance to play a few Trials with this new change, so please let us know how it's feeling. We're here to grab that feedback and make sure the team is made aware.

Everyone was already unhappy with their opacity reduced. Having even less uses isn't going to make anyone any happier. Charges are fine, but they need more, and the opacity needs to be restored. That or make better add-ons to get the opacity back up through those.

Dismantling the first new item for survivors in years--and one that a lot of people were excited about--is a misstep. Just introduce a Lightborn-equivalent perk for killers who find them too "annoying."

  • @tes said:

Solo q is completely fine until u get ultra sweaty killer or your teammates tends to play not that way as u expected.

I like it. Personally. Cause I tend to bring team perks for solo. Doing really random stuff that can be helpful. Show teammate that it may be scourge hook and when he realised it u feel so satisfied. Trigger dms on cold gen and see how some teammate happily nods or when u bring reassurance and play for the save to do risky endgame is so nice. As soon as u play solo by wise altruism and others doing it as well this is my fav matches ever.

It also can bring surprises. I played against p100 huntress recently, she was incredible sniper. But before realising it, I was grumbled at my teammates, thinking that they were having trouble playing against a huntress on RPD. And only towards the middle of the game, being in chase myself, I realized that it wasn't my teammates who were bad, but the player on her was so damn impressive. I doubt that playing SFW would have brought the same emotions, because from the very beginning I understood from my friend's voice that we were cooked.

I'm also super altruistic and very team-minded. I die for strangers all the time and I never leave anyone behind unless they're in the basement on the opposite side of the game and the EGC is halfway through or something impossible like that. I play with people who are similar to me and were often so focused on helping each other that we accidentally throw the match with reckless saves.

But yeah, those end game saves in soloq are the greatest. When I get hooked at the end and see all three people charging over I'm just like 🥰

I'm in EST zone and I just had my third cheater in about a month (it's currently 4am tho). Before these three, I'd never noticed one before. The subtle stuff might have bypassed my notice but these were blatant.

i've played this game with so many people and i just never really enjoy it. i like the carefree nature of solo queue. no expectation. no planning. queue when i want to. break when i want to. and make the choices i want to. with a group you're kinda stuck playing "for the group", but in solo queue i can play for myself. and honestly, playing for myself is a lot more fun. yes, i probably will leave you in the basement. yes, i might let you double hook. no, i probably won't save you in the end game. and yes, i'll probably let you down more than you realize. i might even bring pebble just so i can send the killer in your direction. and that's fun for me. that's kind of what solo queue is about.

This certainly helps me understand why people might hate soloq

It doesn't. At least not anymore. When it spawns with at least 2 people left, it forces the trial to move forward. Currently, the game realistically ends with 2 survivors and more than 1 gen left to complete (and even that's a dice roll). Without hatch, players are able to stall indefinitely. Not to say that they couldn't do that before or that Killer couldn't slug for hatch, but it was more effective at moving the trial forward. Now it's just a consolation prize which doesn't really benefit the game at all.

All that being said, and this is neither here nor there, it would be neat if we had some sort of hara-kiri mechanic to move the trial forward during that 2v1 phase. Something to keep the momentum going that isn't as unreliable as hook has now become.

When they announced the abandon feature (I think they called it surrender at the time) I was hoping I'd get to dramatically unalive myself in a flashy fashion. Pressing a button to become a bot was as disappointing as it gets.

One of my recent success stories was getting a 4E against a Ghoul in SoloQ on Backwater Swamp. My teammates could last in chase and did generators. The doors are open but I'm the last to the open gate and the Ghoul catches me and downs me. The three teammates are all in the gate and trying to distract the killer. I have Unbreakable. The Ghoul is distracted long enough that I pick myself back up and run off while everyone else escapes. I manage to loop the Ghoul around the dock and shake them just long enough for me to reach the gate, but they do their tentacle grab that blocks the exit gate for some insane BHVR reason. I get downed at the blocked exit, but at the very literal last nanosecond before I'm picked up, the block goes down and I crawl out to escape.

That's probably one of the finest SoloQ moments I've had in recent memory. It's possible to succeed and have a good time in SoloQ. It may be unlikely, but it's possible, and I've experienced it multiple times over years.

Hell yeah. It's such a satisfying feeling when it comes together. I had a similar instance recently where I was injured and I couldn't safely get to the door cause the killer was nearby. I Plot Twisted in a nearby bush and my remaining teammate kept the killer busy until I could hop up and sprint on past. Just beautiful.

  • Corpses and people in comas are the only ones that are less of social butterflies than me yet I have quite a lot of people on my friends list. But most of them I've never exchanged a single word with. You can sync up and mesh well without communicating while still getting that comforting feeling of being part of a unit.

  • @angel_pellegrino said:

As someone with autism, I've discovered the hard way that I'm just not able to judge interactions and social cues online. I don't even do that very well in person. And after some pretty terrible bullying from another platform, not dbd related, I've decided that I no longer want a "social circle" in a game or club. It creates too much of an avenue for hurtful situations that I wouldn't experience otherwise. I'm burned out on it.

And no, I never engage with post game chat. I'm on console.

I'm sorry to hear about the bullying. I'm glad to say I've found some people who are really understanding and inclusive.

I have the opposite situation though. I'm much, much worse at real life than I am at online interactions. I'm so cold, unfriendly, and dismissive that it causes me actual problems, but in this game I'm 50% helpful teammate, 50% goofy clown, and that seems to endear me to people, even my opponents.

I'm also on console and hope the calls for universal end game chat never happen. Some of the stuff I've seen people say on there is insane. It's bad enough I still get people bothering to type in my name and send me rude messages.

  • I rarely taunt as survivor but I think hatch taunts are more like a "haha lucky me" than anything more malicious. I hate survivors who taunt killers for no good reason. I also hate getting humped by killers for equally no good reason.

But I've also managed to kill people because they took the time to taunt, and I've slid up behind hatch-camping killers who knee-jerk and hit me instead of closing it, so sometimes you get what you deserve.

I don't think it's unfair to state that solo q is the worst, so it's natural that those who play it remark on that often. As to why, it's just the way to play it really. I did have a fun solo buddy I'd play with who was on console so we never actually communicated, but we had the same play style and it was fun. Otherwise I don't mesh with a lot of players and we don't always play at the same times. The high turnover means that I'm usually the only one still around.

I don't necessarily think it is that bad though, it's just wildly unpredictable. My escape rate has slightly improved since I've been playing more solo. There's this idea that "party = success" and that's not at all true. There are so many types of parties too. Duos, trios, or quartets. Some members will be worse than others. You can have no communication, or have messaging or voice chat. It can make it less frustrating cause you can blow off steam together, but you can still do bad regardless.

But mostly it's people that complain about it like they are barred from hitting that "send friend request" that I don't get. Hell, just ask in this forum and you'll probably get some.

I like to play alone, most times, too.

It's fun to see how well I'll do with random teammates, their unknown perks, etc.

It's also fun when we 'synch up' and get stuff like saves/gens/etc done just through game sense.

I guess I just like each game being different/being a little mysterious and surprising.

Yeah I hear that. It's like Chaos Shuffle: Human Edition.

Probably the most satisfying things I've ever accomplished have been in soloq. I had a teammate get downed on an upper floor of Dead Dawg yesterday after gens were done and the killer was just waiting for him to bleedout. The other two (a duo, I think) gave up and left. I stayed on the lower level and used gestures to get him to crawl to a hole and drop down. I someone got him up and out the door with seconds left before bleedout. Pulling off something crazy like that with zero communication or knowledge of each other is a feeling that can't be beat.

Oh, special mention for Jump Scared for Springtrap, which requires you to intercept survivors inside the doors.

If you want to get this one legitimately, it's in the top 3 alongside Hand-Eye Coordination and Outbreak Breakout.

The only reason I do not put it in the top 3 is because most survivors are down to farm with you if you signal for it, especially if there's multiple BP offerings. If you just farm with the survivors and tell them to get into the doors, it's trivial to get.

I helped someone get this on day one on my very first game against a Springtrap. Buddy was looking to get that out of the way immediately.

This is what I got when I reported clear subtle cheater like 4 months ago but now nothig even tho they were just teleporting and running through whole map with flashlight and nothig happened after report.

Yeah one of mine was doing that too. Flashlight blinds through the floor, speed zooming through the map, all great skill checks, broke free from the killer immediately. I landed in a party with them and I was as pissed off as I've ever been in this game. I'm not trying to be involved in that.

The other one was in soloq and they were already moving around while we were all still loading in, and they were somehow broken without No Mither. They were also the only one to escape.

I got these responses on both and they were both within the last month. I wonder what determines what gets a response, and what that response even is.

I certainly agree and feel like I know when my my soloq matches are lost within a minute of the game. It's so wildly uneven. Happens to me as killer too. I'll be trying one out for the first time and get smashed just to see a scoreboard full of p100s.

If a survivor is on the ground, and the killer literally cannot hook that survivor, then the killer is being forced to slug that survivor.

I literally don't care about your giant anecdote. It doesn't change the fact that killers can be forced to slug survivors.

    1. It's fine for survivors to force the killer to slug. I never said otherwise.
    2. It's not fine for the killer to be punished by an anti-slugging mechanic, when they were forced to slug.

As in, it's fine for Breakdown to force the killer to slug. But it's not ok for survivors to get something like a basekit Unbreakable, that works when the killer was forced to slug. Anti-slugging should happen when the killer is purposely trying to excessively slug. Otherwise, survivors are just going to weaponize the anti-slugging mechanic, just like they did on the PTB that had basekit Unbreakable.

"Forced" is such a strange word to use. No one is forcing you. Unlike the person on the ground, you still have agency. You can at least act.

But you're also missing the fact that it's unfair for the person who was slugged. The hook breakdown wouldn't have been that person's fault if they were the rescuer. Neither would a flashlight save or a sabo be their fault. It's the person who preformed the action's doing. That's who you should be pursuing. I cannot tell you how many times I've been targeted by a frustrated killer because someone else decided to save me in a soloq match. I didn't ask them to, they just did it. Many people in soloq will do things like flashlight saves and dangerous unhooks just for points or lols. And I personally believe killers are entitled to their [fairly acquired] hookings. And I shouldn't have to lay on the ground for mutiple minutes or get tunneled out because someone else did something.

You're also arguing against a system that hasn't been implemented and that we don't even know anything about yet. Whatever the new system is, it's obviously not going to kick in if one person alone is on the ground for like five seconds. There are going to be parameters.

If there is only one hook within range, and it is broken by the Breakdown perk, then the killer is forced to slug any survivor that gets knocked to the ground in that area. Most of the anti-slugging suggestions on these forums, would punish the killer even if the killer was forced to slug the survivors.

Fog vials are literally up to 4 times the area of fog crystals, and yet, survivors want fog vials to be really difficult to see out of…. even though they are literally up to 4 times the area of fog crystals? How is that fair? Why on earth are the fog vials this big?

This is such a specific example. That's one single perk that might put you in a spot occasionally. Not to mention that it's only likely to happen if you're camping the previously hooked survivor. You can also get them to the next hook if you have Iron Grasp, so if this problem is so big for you, equip it. I regularly equip Lightborn, Iron Grasp, and Awakened Awareness because I just want to get the person to a hook, but everyone wants to put on regression and aura perks that do their work for them, so the trade off is you'll lose some hookings.

And Breakdown is doing what it's designed to do. So are flashlights and toolbox sabatoges. It literally tells you in the loading screen to use those for saves. There's nothing anywhere in this game's instructional wording that says "if hooking is not viable just dump them on the ground." Just accept that you got outplayed. What's the worse that happens? They break free and you down them again 20 seconds later?

Fog vials were mid and moved to low, especially when compared to something like a void crystal, which was a totally infuriating item for me as killer and I'd never advocate for something that strong in regular gameplay. But it's the same exact thing. People complained about crows so they were nerfed. People were annoyed by fog vials so they were nerfed. Being for one and against the other is hella biased.

  • Yo is that what happens in that movie?? Spoiler alert 😭

I understand I don’t HAVE to complete them, but I would like to complete them. Isn’t that the point of them being in the game? To be completed? I like many other people here in this trend agree that the numbers are too high. I’ve said it a bunch of times here, I understand why they increased them. I do! But they went a little too high. That’s my issue, I don’t care for a little challenge but let’s make it at least an achievable one. ✌️

I think they should be high honestly, since they are milestones after all. You should feel like you did something (and that something is wasting your life). There should just be either more Dailys and Rift Quests so Milestones are secondary and slower to build up, or there should be a fourth option of more mild and achievable tasks.

And I guess that was the tomes lol

Explain to me, why it's important for the AFK crows to never ever ever unfairly punish survivors, but it's perfectly fine for an anti-slugging mechanic to punish killers when they were forced to slug by the survivors.

Which anti-slugging mechanic are you referring to?

How does someone force you to slug?

Also, explain to me why it was extremely and immediately important to nerf an item that the majoirty of killer-players weren't even being thwarted by and mostly just found annoying.

  • I got super duper lucky and got this map as my first map on day one of its release, and I got the achievement. But I think I've only been on it as survivor maybe two times since and I've played a couple hundred matches.

Imagine if it ends up being a Star Wars chapter like some speculate XD

I will officially quit this game the moment I hear the Imperial March. Might as well make Moana and Elsa into survivors.

If hex totems are a problem point for the AFK crow system, then the solution should be having additional (or modified) rules specifically when an active hex totem is in the game.

That's one example specific to me. I had a lot of people showing up to gens with crows at this time--many very early in the game--and I had no reason to believe they were hiding. Running Empathy let's me keep an eye on that sort of thing, so if you're injured and you're hiding, I will know.

I had a killer match where I was holding down a 3gen and the remaining three players weren't hiding, they just couldn't preform any meaningful action long enough to not get crows. They were trying to get to the gens instead of doing usless activities like opening chests. They did not deserve those crows.

And I've had recent matches where people get crows. It takes longer, but eventually I hear the cawing and find them. It does it's job. I have no tolerance for cowards regardless of which role I play but I don't want a system that punishes for no reason.

But if you're advocating for this crow system because lots of time and effort were put into designing it, its a little hypocrital to be one of the loudest anti-fog vial posters, which obviously also resulted in a nerf and pretty much no one wants to use them anymore. And those being a new item and not just a redesign of an old system probably took much more time.

  • Ugh how about nothing. I'm both scared for whatever bugs it unleashes and also totally tired of IPs. I'd rather have soemthing original. This game is starting to look like someone's Funko pop collection.

If the phase 1 changes are going to be barely noticeable, it's fair for the phase 2 changes to be barely noticeable.

BHVR spent SO MUCH TIME AND EFFORT, making sure those AFK crows felt fair for survivors, and that literally no one was "unfairly" getting AFK crows. The same energy should happen for the phase 2 changes. Killers should never ever be punished for slugging, if the survivors forced them to slug. And anti-slugging should actually involve slugging. This Conviction garbage, where the survivor can activate it even when the killer is just trying to check the area to make sure it's safe to pick up the survivor, isn't anti-slugging because the killer isn't even trying to slug at all.

There was nothing fair about the crows. I got them during this period and I never get crows. At no point was I hiding. In those cases, I was looking for hex totems and sometimes had to change my trajectory to avoid the killer, which the game read as inactivity, despite me marathoning around the map and leaving scratch marks everywhere. The only way to avoid this would have been to cleanse the dull totems I found, just to reset the timer. Other people were avoiding the crows by repairing a gen for a few seconds then going back to their hidey holes. A system that rewarded you for useless tasks while punishing you for actually trying to do something was deeply flawed.

You also seem to think you're automatically entitled to every down you get. If that were the case, sabotage and flashlights wouldn't be in the game. Nothing is supposed to be "safe".

To be fair milestones aren't some grand objective you HAVE to finish. I barely pay attention to them and are already over level 40 in the rift (Detective "We have Valentine at home" Unknown is in my sights.). Buuut I play a lot so my experience may not be the same as everyone.

I lowkey wish the game told you what rift level you actually were in the system past level 100 because I think I got to like... 200 in the previous riftpass. Those useless 5k rewards got boring after a while.

That's really all it is: you don't have to think about it but you do have to play a lot. Even the Rift progress I usually barely notice, but I'm gunning for those black and gold colorways right now. I think I'm at level 60ish with no specific effort put forth.

  • Personally I don't want to be in whatever part of the matchmaking system has people that don't care about saves or deaths. Like, I'm far from sweaty, but I'm also not watching my teammates die while saying "c'est la vie." You're supposed to at least try.

I also don't want to go up against the 5000 hour Nurses. There has to be a middle, and, if the MMR functioned properly, there is supposed to be, it just doesn't seem to work right. So I, a mid-quality player, get both the c'est-la-vie and the 5000 hour Nurse—in the same match.

The system needs improving but this idea just isn't the way. They just need to stop throwing wildly different skill levels together.

this is why I'd prefer seeing teammate perks that way this behavior won't be tolerated anymore; don't like my load out? cya.

This would be a much needed boost to soloq. My party members know I run Built to Last and Empathy basically always, so they'll tell me to come find them when they're injured or they'll give me their items to refill. That sort of info shouldn't only be for parties.

  • @UnicornMedal said:

I assume people think it triggers Abandon faster but it doesn't. That's the only thing I can think of.

In both cases, there were only two of us left and the game was basically over. So my best guess was they thought I was just gonna lay there until they died and then hop up and zip out the door. But that's a weird assumption to make. I hadn't even 99ed it. And I'd be screwing myself over if I waited that long and the killer had a relevant aura reading perk.

It's just weird it happened to me twice in quick succession. Like maybe there's some stigma with the perk I've just never encountered. And it's a perk that's saved both me and my teammates many times.

A part of me is wondering if Step 10s will even be possible without 24/7 play.

Part 10 is when you find out the Entity is real, the game is a trap, and you get permanently sucked into the Fog.
