I'm pretty much agreeing with you 100%.
I do however have him unlocked myself, and I quite enjoy playing AS him, as he is fairly unique in the way he plays.
Going against him post buff is almost like going against him before.. Almost! His Fly ability is what makes him so strong at the moment, and I feel like it should be slightly slowed down. Not back to pre-buff levels, but more a middle ground in between pre-buff and current.
Rest of his kit is fine though, and overall he is a fun killer to verse.Yeah I agree, the flying just needs a slight cooling. I've been thinking about unlocking him. I like Dracula a lot because of the different abilities and I think I'd feel the same about Vecna. I just only have so much money to throw at this game.
-
I don't have him purchased so I can't comment as playing as him. I used to like playing against him, I like characters with a variety of abilities. But lately the flying is so strong it's become really frustrating to come across him. It's like impossible to get away from him.

Yes! I mean we’ve gone through countless matches where the overriding topic has been pizza, cake and which cosmetic demands the most butt slaps lol
Those 4man SWF everyone's so scared of 😂

Which cosmetic is it?

Sometimes I wish I were much better at the game, if only to be more help to newer players in soloq. But it was quite touching that they were appreciative of a For the Peopoe (the work, not me. Well.. I suppose in this case me too lol) it broke my heart to think they were new and so resigned to death 🥹

seems this was someone I played with in soloq who turned out to be my killer. Was wondering why they knew about my boons and plot twist! lol

I got adopted by dungeon parents lol I died to trade at end for someone but it was nice that it was appreciated. Sometimes the little things in soloq can completely provide joy and satisfaction.

Sometimes steam wall comments from soloq random teammates are a pleasant surprise 🥰Anyone who has played with me will know I am really quite bad at the game lol so these comments and positive interactions really do mean the world to me in DBD.
These are all so wholesome. Idk if I believe you about being bad. You're certainly popular.

okay I can’t edit but have realised the game can at least tell who is on your friends list so I suppose they can know you’re in a SWF!
I do think I agree with @cogsturning though as I am the definition of a dingdong lol. Furthermore, I can pretty much envisage banning or punishing a SWF that harshly (in the scenario described) may lead to a mass exodus.
Sweaty people think everyone is sweaty. I've never in my life been like "status update: Gen #4 at coordinates 32N 40W is 67.9% done, pallets 2, 3 and 7 are down, pallets 1 and 4 are broken, gonna go intercept chase." It's more like "What flavor of potato chips do you guys like?" while I accidentally run into my third wall that match or play the lute for the killer and hope for the best. If I'm in the party, it's 100% dingdong time.

Nope. Not every swf is seal team 6, nor is every swf on comms. There's also a thing called negativity bias. You'll remember the strong swfs you faced and therefore view every swf like that, but remain ignorant to the fact that you've probably steamrolled countless swfs in the past without second thought.
I really wish the scoreboard would show you who was in a party so everyone can have a nice surprise. "These people were all solos and worked that well together?" vs "These 4 dingdongs were in a party??"

I wish I took screenshots of some of my end-game chats, especially those where I just goofed off with the survivors.
But there has been one message that stood apart from the rest, which I remember well, where one survivor told me this:
"You sir really made my day. Today has been really rough, where I got camped and tunneled non-stop, but I decided to play one last match, and it was the best decision I have ever made today. Thank you for being such an awesome and fun killer"
This message came from a match I was playing as Wesker. I was serious at first, getting 8 hooks (all spread out evenly), and then I decided to just have fun with the survivors for the rest of the game, like throwing them around, off of stairs and such, and they had an absolute blast. I let them finish the gens and let them escape in the end.Note to self: Take more screenshots after wholesome games.
That's great. It really is nice when we can all chill for bit. I had a match today like this with a Dracula and I wish I could have told him how pleasant it was to have a clearly skilled p100 be cool with us because we were all clowning at the beginning and clearly not sweaty. But alas, no end game chat for me. I hope the rest of them had a nice talk.
I had a Wesker like this recently too who was playing dead serious until I Plot Twisted right as he was about to grab me and he did a total 180. Went from sweaty to spinning around in circles, nodding, and slashing rocks.

Well swf still inherently has a massive advantage over people that can't communicate. You get so many perks just base kit in a swf with comms.
Literally the only relevant thing anyone ever does when I'm on comms is be the first to announce who the killer is.

One of my favorite interactions I've ever had was with a fellow teammate in solo q. It was a Jake wearing the wrapped shirt/pants, and had the long hair with beard, and his username was J. Christ. His entire build was all about altruism, and at the end game, exit gate powered, it was just me and Jesus, I got put on hook. He went back for me. Unhooked me and the Oni actually went after him instead so I made it out. He was sacrificed. And it was just all around a great time. 10/10 would team up with Jesus again.

Why does everyone think party = quality? Just because four people are playing together doesn't mean they'll play well. I play in 4-mans and we're trash. We're also usually not on comms, and we never play strategically. If this happened we'd just be standing there pointing at stuff or hitting each others butts. Then we'd die.

and HOW do you do that? How are you able to find your fun? I mean, I suck at looping, that means the game is quickly over for me and I don´t have the chance to do anything, because more and more killers tend to tunnel off hook from the start. How can I have fun if I am not allowed to do anything besides hanging on the hook, staring at my screen ?
Start focusing on stealth. Be strategic. I accepted I'm not great at chase so I try to be tricky, which is what I loved about the fog vials (RIP). But I still manage without them. Bring a toolbox build. Run deja vu. Quietly creep your way to a distant gen so that as the killer charges down the center of the map to where you spawned, you're slinking along the edges to where they spawned. Hop on the gen after a chase starts on the HUD. Keep an eye on where the killer is and whose enaged with them. Map awareness can keep you out of the killer's radar. I often get through entire matches with the killer never even seeing me. Some people think it's boring, but I like doing gens and cleansing totems and doing whatever objectives. This way I'm a useful part of my team even without being great at chase.

My absolute favorite is when the Killer makes really bad decisions for the majority of the trial and we successfully capitalize on that, only for it all to end in a 2-4k because they find a way to steamroll in the end. It feels like being robbed, especially when the endgame still favors the Killer regardless.
Like you said before, that 60% feels worse because of how the trials play out. Even with the 40% of escapes, a lot of them are the Killer giving us an escape or matchmaking pitting us with a brand new Killer that's still learning the basics. And even when we do earn the win, it's equally as likely that we get a Killer relying way too strongly on camping/tunneling/slugging in a trial where matchmaking blessed me strong teammates I have good synergy with. But regardless of that, the effort we have to put in is so insanely disproportional to the point it's exhausting.
My most heartbreaking games are the ones where the killer got 0-2 hook before endgame, lost 5 chases to me, an average player, while getting whacked by 10 pallets and missing their basic attacks...and then I somehow die. When it feels even, at least it's not so painful. It used to be easier when there were more playful games with killers to break it up, but fun with opponents is almost dead.
I just played as Legion for like the 3rd time ever. Got 4ks in three matches. Didn't even know what I was doing. Half of them were competent. But the other half are the ones that killed their chances.

I get why people abandon. Some moris feel endless and most are hideous. The end game mori was such a bad and toxic idea. It's made mercy so much more rare. But I don't abandon, so I suffer through it. I even wish I could skip it as killer. I only do it because it's easier than hooking but god, I hate it.
I'm all for giving killers more abandon options too, if that's the track. Let them become a bot when everyone's at the door. I'd like everyone to just take their Ls and Ws and move on.
But the two things aren't quite equivalent. Survivors on the ground can't do anything. As killer, I've snatched out a last second victory from someone acting foolish at the doors and not timing thier escape right. Agency is the difference.

The game tells u to kill. If u are wandering around and waste 45 sec on chase + 30 seconds to hook and find another chase or push gens, every normal team with gen or heal meta will finish gens until u hook the 4th member. If they actually can last in a chase for a minute, of course. I am not talking about 10-second looping. I am not playing against people who last 10 seconds in loops, usually. So again, maybe I am indeed playing a different game.
Pyramid Head have a base kit that is used for tunnel, as a sacrifice he has low mobility and can’t utilise the majority of gen regress meta. And u need to force torment which isn’t that easy. Oni and Twins are playing through slug, in sacrifice they have a short duration of power that allows them to slug or can be extremely punished after missing. We have a basement in-game, which since the start meant instant death if the killer is Booba or Trapper and he put u there. Out of this basement, these killers are weak and have extremely easy counterplay. So the statement this game never was meant to slug/tunnel isn’t true. It always was here.
My games last between 7 minutes to 10 when I am playing killer. Not because everyone is dead to that moment. Usually, because we are already in the endgame. Survivors in my lobby don’t usually struggle. Overall, not all of the time, unfortunately. In such periods I let people go if I’m feeling it was extremely unfair.
I felt many times that hopeless thing in survivors solo matches. But it’s not killer fault. If my teammate made mistake and killer used that to punish whole team, it’s my teammate fault he’ll never admit unfortunately. Even me can do such mistake. I will never blame killer for a reason that not upon him. He can’t fix inconsistent level of skill in solo q lobbies. And encouraging this system by forbidding killers and claiming “take it easy, here is one member who is bad anyways” is admitting that overall we have weakness during skill issue somewhere. When killer is shows his mercy I am grateful, but I am also embarrassed. Because he is easy on me cause my team was bad or I wasn't lucky enough with RGN. I don’t want to feel embarassed to win.
Over and over devs instead of fixing that issue of inconsistent level of game sense, instead of trying make solo equal to sfw by giving info and encourage team work, constantly restrict mid killers, creating broken ones so side won’t feel offenced, and creates broken meta that wipes any of your effort of the pressure if u don’t tunnel. I am sorry, but it's miserable truth that this game encourage tunneling or S killers meta, because otherwise u’ll lose 90% of your matches against good teams, and your skill will never matter. U can stay in comfort zone of course, but it kills all skill growth. Not everyone wants this.
So we creating more and more such systems. Even on killer. Why encourage skill, indeed? Let’s give base kit for everything or create free hit scan on ghoul and push some broken killers here, to justify another base kit for survivors as well. So majority of players will struggle as soon as they see experienced player. We can continue to make game like this if course. So it’ll be anti - system simulator, where one side feeling they have to play against perks, others against broken killers. Do we really wish this?
I want to have opportunity to survive tunneling cause my teammate took a hit and after this I used my skill for looping, not because I hit skill check that cancel whole chase. Winning chase for 3 gens when killer tunneling u is the best thing ever, I don’t want to be deprived of this feeling because my opponent was artificially limited. As well as I don’t want to be deprived from ability doing snow ball.
But this requires good rework on maps, fixing every bug on every killer which causing flaws, and highly encouraging team work so your teammate will protect u and make killer regret they tunneled. But it seems such direction is way harder than simple “U’ll never be able to do X thing”
I agree that the problem is usually not the killers. Recently, I've had a lot of nasty and toxic players but before that, it usually isn't so bad. As for the killer characters themselves, I think Clown and Kaneki need adjustments, but I don't think its as extreme as everyone else says (for Kaneki. Clown is terrible to deal with right now.)
The problem is indeed matchmaking. I'm in matches trying to read the killers perks and counter them. I'm taking protection hits and hooks for teammates. I'm doing everything I can to save people in endgame. And what do my teammates do? Get found immediately because they couldn't guess the killer is running BBQ, one of the most popular perks in the game. Or they got off a gen that was almost done because they couldn't guess the killer had DMS. They let me go second stage on first hook cause they weren't watching the HUD. They ran out the door while I was hooked even though I was an easy save. Or maybe I get real lucky and end up with a 3-man that's doing sabos and flashlight saves and the killer gets pissed and slugs all three of them—and I'm next cause they didn't bother to notice (or just don't care) that I wasn't involved. In many, many of my matches, I feel like my deaths are not my fault, and that's extremely frustrating.
As killer, it's the same. I either get a team of fantastic sweaty pros that I can't beat or I get 4 clueless idiots that make me feel terrible because they have no idea what they're doing. Or maybe 3 clueless idiots and one decent one who makes me feel like I'm looking in a mirror.
It feels like no matter which role play, my teammates/opponents are either horrid or stellar and there's just no mid-range players like me.

I didn’t want to make people feeling wrong about loses. I’m playing solo and my escape rate even that high tbh.
But I honestly tired from people to constantly complaining to overall role. Because I really don’t understand. I started to play this game as survivor. Now despite switching to killer as well and being 50/50 player every time I feel anxious or bad I purposefully switch to survivors. This is my personal comfort zone. I… I can’t find anything bad about this role except extremely toxic killers who write ez after playing nurse against solo or when my team just played bad. And because this solo without proper info with weird MMR my teams in solo Q indeed losing a lot. Over and over I see mistakes done from my teammates, and because it’s potential of 4 mistakes it hits different than one mistake on killer, but everyone blame killer OR claiming being survivor isn’t fun and good in endgame chat. I still trying to find why.
Sometimes I feel I am playing completely different game. How being survivor I know I can avoid tunnelling, at the same time playing mid? Yesterday I was hardtunneled one time in like 14 games. How somehow I barely meeting toxic killers when everyone point they meeting 5th ghoul on a day? Why I can just equip ds/otr with reassurance and don’t bother myself with this tunneling/camping issue every game? Why I can do gens easily and don’t find gen regress harsh until it’s not A/S tier killer?
And when I’m playing as killer with constant meeting of good teams my smallest attempt of pointing on some abuse in perk on this forum is meeting harsh critic. Like extreme harsh, even when I don’t tell “nerf to the ground”, but just wish for some compromises. People here likes to forbid me to talk about negative feeling from one role, yet as soon as I finally show something positive about other I just see mad reaction. Why?
Ok on killer I slug and tunnel. But on survivor I genrush or run heal meta as well. I even play in sfw sometimes. Games are balanced around it, not random solo with MMR missmatch that unfortunately happens a lot. My point on this forum is literally praying for that one day we’ll receive info base kit for solos that we’ll make them close to SFW, better MMR, less RGN, and when killers won’t suffer from poor game design or feeling like they playing against system, and not skill on players. I wish both good for both roles, and I don’t want to be seem extremely toxic.
I’m playing “unfair” right now on both roles and take my personal max. Because game allows it and can’t forbid me to play efficiently, even when someone finding it unfair. I can’t force others so, that’s why I don’t blame my solo teammates in endgame chat. Or overall role. I don’t even blame people who are toxic against me after match.
If I want to win, I play with duo and suddenly I am over 60-70% of pub matches against killers. On killer at the same time I’m avoiding broken killers with less skill involve, yet I’m fully commuting to dedicated choice. And I actually see results from it. This game can encourage you on both roles.
Am I playing completely different game, because it bring joy for me from both roles? Is it my fault I genuinely don’t feel we have gen rush or tunneling issue that spoils experience, but that’s people who project negate impact they took from social media? And that game shouldn't be balanced around weak tier killers or solo Q survivors?
I don't personally feel just doing gens (it's literally the only thing there is to do as surv) and using healing perks is playing unfair. The game provides you with an objective (gens) and healing boosts (perks). The game never tells you to tunnel or slug. Those are choices people have made. I want to bring a build that I like, not one to counter those tactics.
As killer, I'll do bad if the whole team is good. But as survivor, if I'm the only one in the match that even understands the game, I have zero hope. I always feel like there's something I couod do to turn things around as killer. As survivor, I just mentatlity check out when I see it's hopeless. And it's been happening to me a lot lately.

You are such a lovely guy.. and you have a lot of common sense.. "freedom"? Like, what are you talking about? Insult or harass someone shouldn't be allowed, and, in fact, as you said, it isn't irl, and, somehow, people are defending this to be in the game.. and, again, the solution is not to just disable endgame chat, because I want to meet lovely people like you. Yes, call me weird if you want, but, I want to make FRIENDS in a VIDEOGAME, and not expect to get harassed almost every match.
I hate the freedom excuse. Freedom isn't real. There are always social taboos and laws. If people could be cool, we wouldn't need them. But we can't, so we do.
It's really a bummer how friendly the whole gaming sphere can be. It's so disappointing when I want to complaint someone or thank them for helping me and I can't even message them because of their settings. I can just play a single player or against bots if no one wants to interact positively.

First of all, BHVR bans for things like that, if they are too much. You dont even need to write a Support Ticket, an ingame report is enough.
Seconds, the solution to disable Endgame Chat is not bad or anything. You have a way to not have to bother with those Comments, so use it. Yes, ideally you should not have to do that, but you have to do it and you can do it. Not doing it is kind of strange IMO.
And third you are probably exaggerating or not being very nice when playing, from my own experience I dont really encounter toxic Behavior too much, but it usually happens if someone gets upset about anything which another player has been done. Sure, sometimes those are very insignificant things, but sometimes being upset can be valid. So are you doing anything special that you get negative Endgame Chats that often?
And unrelated - could it be possible that we played against each other yesterday? Have you played as Anon Sadako on Forgotten Ruins yesterday evening/yesterday night? Against a team which let Survivors go to second Hook Stage? Just curious, since you are writing very similar to that person I faced yesterday. EU-Servers.Even on console where, like I mentioned, you have to jump through some hoops just to send a message, I get regular insults. They're not this extreme (cause, again, that gets you banned from the whole of online gaming on console) but I get them a lot, and I'm a super fair and chill killer who often gives hatch and goofs around with survs. I rarely camp, tunnel, or slug unless the team is being toxic and inviting it. But I will still get people accusing me of tunnelling because I found them 2 minutes after an unhooking, still injured and working on a gen, like I'm suppose to just turn around and let them finish it. Or I'll get accused of slugging because I left them on the ground for 20 seconds to chase their flashlight-wielding savior. People just have to blame you for their losses. Then, if I do bad, I get insults about that too. It's one of the reasons I'd rather play surv, and even then I've gotten messages, as well as in-game sandbagging and bullying from teammates.

4 of those 5 above 20k tells me you played well, which is what becomes even more agonizing—you start to feel like nothing you do actually matters, and the outcome of a trial is solely dependent on the killer and teammates you queued with.
This is the problem. No matter how well you do, you can't babysit the whole team. Even if the killer is a terrible player, if your team is equally terrible, you're still screwed.
I also have the trait of altruism and that costs me my life a lot. I was tunnelled out of that 13k match, but in the 17k, someone else was being hard tunnelled as soon as the game started, so I inserted myself into the chase, knowing full well I'd take a hooking for it. The killer ended up camping the hook until I went 2nd stage then targeted me afterwards...all because I tried to stop them from targeting someone else. That sort of thing is pretty disheartening, even more so when I get my first hooking at the end of a match and the team I've been healing and helping the whole time just runs out the door.

The gulf between "you play like trash" and "you should go die" is rather large, my guy. "Everyone should be able to say whatever they like, whenever they like, wherever they like" is the world's most unnuanced take. Even free speech has legal restrictions. Harassing people, hate speech, and threats can get you fired from your job or even arrested in the real world, so you shouldn't be able to type "#########" in something as trivial as a video game and get away with it.

Sure, but like I said, I'm latley dying 5 to 10 games in a row. I've never lost that many killers games in a row. The survivor experience is significantly worse. At least as killer, even if i lose, as long as get a kill or two, I feel like I achieved something in the match. Getting tunnelled, slugged, or dying in a 4k has no such consolation prizes.

They will never ban people for chat that doesn't cross any social lines. Stay away from identity, race, religion, and they shouldn't ban. A lot of people enjoy the trash talking aspect. I don't personally, so I don't read the comments. Its up to me whether I allow them to offend me or not. It should definitely not be policed by behavior.
She literally said she's getting insults about the very things you mentioned. Telling people to go back to the kitchen or to die is crossing social lines.

Honestly, what I’m reading here is just pathetic. That only 1% is toxic, that people enjoy the trash talking, that the solution to not being harassed, insulted, and threatened is to completely isolate yourself from the game’s social environment, and that the company won’t do anything—what kind of nonsense is this? I’ve been playing this game since 2016, we all know the kind of community we have (just look at the balance discussions), and obviously it’s the company that MUST take action. Enough of defending this crap.
Yeah telling someone they should just isolate themselves within what's already a social endeavor is heartless advice. Not everyone is cool with being told to kill themselves over a video game. It sucks how often I try to message people with nice things only to find out their settings are private, because they're probably fed up with being harassed.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It's crazy how far people will go with their aggression. I don't really understand why end game chat is even a thing. It seems rare anything good comes of it.
This is one of the rare advantages of being on console. Someone has to be on the same platform as me to send me a message, and they have to go out of their way to do it. And if they're not very, very careful with thier wording, I can get them suspended or even banned. Not banned from the game, but banned form all online access.
I know people who want the chat to be universal and that's a big no thanks from me, unless they do something about how awful people are in it.

You're kind of countering your own request by announcing a far above average win rate.

”It feels like you’re always at the Killer’s mercy…”
Isn’t that the whole point of the horror genre? I don’t feel like the killer is supposed to be the survivors’ punching bag, but maybe that’s just me.
It's a horror game but it's still a game, and both sides should feel about the same about their chances. But many people seem to feel about the same as I do, that as killer I've got a good shot, and as survivor I'm likely to die. That being said, killer is more powerful, but survivor is still winnable.
The problem is partially the game's matchmaking. As survivor, I get put with selfish people who don't care about teammates. I get put with people who don't try to read and counter the killer's perks. People who don't try to help someone whose being tunnelled, without realizing that if they die too fast, the game likely is lost for all of us. And people who are brand new and understand nothing. These types of players often mean a guaranteed loss. It's not uncommon for me to die 10 times in a row as surv. I've never lost 10 killer matches in a row. And even if I do lose as killler, I get some satisfaction in taking a survivor or two with me. There's little in the way of equivalent satisfaction when I die as surv.
The other problem is that wins and losses don't matter, it's only your own personal numbers that do. When I die those 10 times in a row, I might have been the only one. That makes those games wins for the survivor team. I might have been the most important person on my team. I might have died to save them. But, on my end, it's just another death on my stats.
And as killer, even if I'm doing bad, I can whip out some dirty tactics like tunneling and slugging and turn an L into a W. There's no equivalent for soloq survivors. If we're doomed, we're doomed.

I appreciate your response, and it makes me happy that you can relate to the whole perks issue. I've heard that Wesker is really fun, and an undetectable build on him sounds scary. I'm curious to try that, or even some random ones. From my survivor games, I've gotten addicted to using random perk builds.
You could also spend more time as killer in Chaos Shuffle, if it comes back. There at least you know everyone has random perks.

I'd also be curious to know your escape rate too. Not being rude, just curious.

Also dont feel stupid its a game just have a good time. Its ok to make mistakes no matter what some p100 narcissict tells ya, i just like to listen to Mastadon and Jinjer and just play and have funny plot twist moments
Yo I'm a p100 and I'm trash. Pretty sure everyone's always surprised when they see the scoreboard.

I'm right there with you. I don't have as many hours and I don't watch videos, but I seemed to have plateaued at being very average at chase. I can run a baby killer, sure, but if they're good, I'm dead. I also refuse to run chase perks. I find windows/finesse/lithe so uninteresting.
I also just stopped practicing. For awhile I was equipping a flashlight and trying to improve but I've gone back to being stealthy and objective focused.
Have you tried practicing with someone in customs? I've never wanted to bother my friends with that, but if you don't have that anxiety, it could help. You won't feel as panicky if you know it's not for real.
I didn't DC but I did totally sandbag in my last match night. I was so aggravated by being about to acquire my 14th death that night that I became a terror for my team, which is totally out of character for me, a person who regularly dies to save strangers. It just became too much.

I absolutely agree. It feels like strange, outdated game design that the Survivor objective is so simple ("do gens", although Survivor gameplay is of course more complex than that) while the Killer objective can vary wildly based on the people you're playing against and the map you get. (I'm not saying that the Killer needing to kill people to win is a bad thing. Just that purely from a "what do you need to do to win the game" standpoint, Survivors have it much simpler.)
More side objectives — especially ones that incentivize Survivors to move around the map more and not just sit on their generator — would absolutely be a dream come true for the game's longevity. Part of why I hate playing Survivor is just that the objective is so unbelievably monotonous.
Perks themselves can't fix this problem. There's a whole collection of "open X amount of chests to get this effect" perks, but.. why would I use them? When I can just bring a perk that actually helps me in chase or on generators? Boons exist, but they're really just "find a totem, spend 14 seconds, now your team gets a buff". Invocations seem extraordinarily difficult to balance — make them worthless (like they kind of are now?) and nobody uses them, make them too strong and it's miserable for the Killer. I think Invocations with milder effects, but that don't leave you Broken forever, are the sweet spot, since the downside becomes that you have to spend so much time setting it up.
I hate tunnelling and camping (except in endgame scenarios where it's much more justifiable). Fundamentally, tunnelling is simply the best option if you're trying to win the game — hook everyone twice, the survivors are running on 100% efficiency. Hook 1 person 3 times, the survivors are running on 75% efficiency forever. Some sort of gameplay incentive for spreading hooks would really help issues on both sides, I feel.
I disagree a bit about survivor being simpler, for two reasons. One is that your 25% of a whole and, if you're solo, you don't know what on earth your going to get. You might be the babysitter for 3 fresh installs. You might get a duo that only cares about one another. You might get sandbagged or bullied. Or you might get a 3-man of pros who sail you to victory.
The second point is that both roles, on their surface, are equally simple. Killer chases, hooks, kills. Survivor hides/runs, does gens, escapes. But both require strategy. Like what I said above, in manufacturing a 3gen. I do the same as survivor: I spread the gens to avoid a 3gen. But I also only have so much control and my ability to monitor my soloq teammates is limited.

Well.. I'm right. So there.
But seriously, I get what you're saying. I just feel like that if survivors play with a little awareness they can create a really awful gen spread for the Killer, and then while the "playable area" technically does shrink, there's a massive dead zone in-between those areas that's really tough to manage if you're not playing a higher-tier killer who can deal with that.
Pallets do disappear, but a lot of times, unless you're playing a killer who can shred through pallets, dead zones are often a loss of efficiency. What I mean by that is all that time you spend chasing a survivor and getting them to drop pallets is time the other survivors have spent on gens.. and then that dead zone doesn't mean anything if no survivor is ever going to be there. But of course, if the deadzone is near where the survivors want to be, then of course it will help. I'm just saying that this isn't really something that helps the Killer so much as it detriments the Survivors if that makes sense.
Sure, Bloodlust is free. It also takes 15 valuable seconds to get to Bloodlust 1, which often isn't enough on its own, and that's without being able to kick pallets or use your power.
And you can absolutely get a 4k when everyone is alive when all gens are done. I'm not disputing that. Miracle games can and do happen. It's just very hard, and against Survivors who know what they're doing, endgame saves are impossible to prevent.
So much time spent chasing or looking for Survivors makes it very hard to catch up in terms of objectives and pacing. That's why the gen-stall meta is here, to make up for that difference. Without any built-in comeback potential for the Killer outside of simply "get insanely lucky, hope the survivors misplay, and get your slug wincon", it's hard not to feel like all of these meta perks are necessary, and even then, sometimes it doesn't feel like enough.
It's not a miracle. I probably die at 0gens more than any other number.
You can also manufacture a 3gen yourself. Look at what gens are super close together and make sure you keep those tightly guarded. I've had many matches where I've done this with 3 or 4 people still alive and gotten a 4k.
-
I generally avoid meta perks on both roles but this problem goes both ways. If I'm the only one on a gen a minute into the match with no one in chase and people cleansing dull totems for no reason, opening chests, and crouch-walking around the map, then I pretty much know I'm screwed.
Part of the issue is also that there's nothing else for survivors to do. There isn't much in the way of smaller objectives and I wish there were. I love hunting for hex totems. I also love invocations, but I don't do them cause the risk/reward just isn't good enough. More stuff like that, but better, would make a match feel fuller.
As killer, I feel like I'm in chase for 6.7 seconds when three gens pop and I'm always wondering where that efficiency is when I play surv. I bring maybe one anti-gen perk to help. I'm not bringing a whole anti-gen build though. That's so boring.
As for incentive for spreading hooks, it would be cool if there was some sort of reward for that. And maybe a penalty for not doing it. Like hooking the same survivor twice in a row boosts gen progress, whereas hooking a new one hinders progress. I'd be down for just about any idea at this point because I'm mid at chase and don't bring speed perks, so if everyone else has meta perks I'm an easy target.

built to lasters already face toxicity because ppl get upset immediately at the locker hop and feel the need to rat them out or repeatedly open the locker.
It's crazy I spend more time looking for a safe locker with no teammates around than I do refilling the item, yet I still have people catch me and emote, point, and try to open the door. I once had a killer (whose perks I clearly misguessed) come over and shake their head at me until I came out, then they nodded and walked away. It was so shameful I would have rather them just hooked me. And having no end game chat, I can't even defend my actions.
