I truly cannot wait to see what the step 10s look like.

I forgot to add that to my original post.
All those damn add-ons, for stuff you rarely use

The survivor bloodwebs have become a junk pile. Killer ones are fine though.

  • The survivors should be literally blind so they can only run into walls and you can just kill them.

  • I've been getting pretty much zero fog vials in my p100s bloodweb so it's not that. Mostly I'm getting add-ons for things. It's like for each item you get 20 add-ons.

  • Dracula is most fun because WOLF

I normally don't tunnel but that perk straight pisses me off the constant screaming gets on my nerves so I kill them.

Resurrecting a two year old post to let everyone know how much you hate fun is wild.

looping shack window 3 times only for the survivor to consider dropping shack pallet sure gets monotonous.

don't get me wrong, hold w pre runners are my most disliked type of survivor play but I don't see the efficient types choosing smoke bombs over medkits to reactivate Finesse.

Laura Crofts with Finesse looping the shack have become like a circle of hell for me. I'm so tired of it. Just use the fog vial and give me a reason to walk away.

true, but unfortunately not every killer is a stealth killer, and i mysef do not want to be forced into a specific playstyle, just bc of an item

Survivors are forced into different playstyles every match. If a survivor brings a medkit or a healing build to a Plague or Legion match, they're plans are pretty much nullified. Built to Last or Inner Healing? Better hope it's not Dredge or Iron Maiden isn't equipped. Also sucks your flashlight just got deleted by Lightborn. Not the best at skill checks? Oh no, it's a doctor with a full skill check build. The list goes on.

Most survivors run perks that just make them a little faster for a little while, or let them take an extra hit. It's a pretty tiny adjustment when you'll eventually get bloodlust anyway.

So yeah, a little change up for the other side would be nice.

Because there is no real consequences for them doing so. Most of them do it because they can and use it to make themselves feel better as they pull happiness of other peoples unhappiness. Still most of them don't even get that people who are smarter than them don't care what someone says in video game chat. Like to me its just funny to read them going total nuts on the end game chat and me just writing to them total stoic answers. Its like their life validation depends on how toxic they can be towards other people in a game.

Another nice thing about console is that, if they don't word their messages very carefully, I can report them. And consoles will suspend you for literally anything. I have friends who want the end game chat to be universal and that's a hard pass for me.

I just remind myself that I'm probably twice the age of most of these people and that many are actual children.

  • @AdamZ said:

no, killer mains are mad that they have to start chasing ur ghost for 40 sec just to catch up to u

    its boring

Some people prefer stealth and trickery to chase. The chase aspect of this game has gotten monotonous. More than one style of gameplay is a nice idea.

  • I won't go after anyone if they're still injured after an unhook and haven't re-engaged with regular gamepley, like they're just wildly running about looking to heal. Even if I accidentally folllow their trail I'll just turn around. But if they hop on a gen, body block, try to sabo or flashlight then they're back on the menu.

If three people become bots early on, the only human left is automatically my bestie and I want harm them. Glad to say this code of ethics is pretty common. Just had a match with a Legion who slugged everyone early on. They all abandoned but me so he got me back on my feet and we terrorized the bots and farmed together.

Mercy for clowns. Bardic Inspiration and funny Plot Twists will always win me over. They've saved me as survivor many times too.

I'm big on fair play too, and I don't want games to end in two seconds.

  • Bringing Built to Last. Franklin's was never an issue for me. I actually had no idea it was this hated/relied on. I just picked up my item and went in a locker. Did it for my friends too.

  • I switch back and forth between the two roles constantly, usually like 3 or 4 games of each, to keep myself from getting frustrated. Killer is definitely the more aggravating role. Even when I'm getting 4ks I still feel stressed cause you have to be on 10 the whole game.

I've said this a lot, but when you did bad and the match is doomed, a good way to change the tone is to open the exit gates and be friendly. Nod your head. Spin in circles. Look up at the sky. Walk in slo-mo. Taking an L with grace can win a lot of people over and make you feel better too because it is just a game after all.

  • I've never understood why people act out--both in-game and after--when someone wasn't playing dirty and they just had a bad game. I hate when I'm in soloq and my teammates taunt the killer for doing nothing wrong. If they tunneled or slugged or camped then a quick departure taunt is fine, but if you just had a bad match then why do you deserve it? Taunting during chases is also super obnoxious. Like why?

One nice thing about console is I don't have end game chat. Doesn't stop other console users from going to the trouble of typing my name in and sending me a message tho, which takes so much more effort. Sometimes I understand why many killer mains become bitter towards survivors and use gross tactics.

I will say though, if you have a bad match and you open the gates for them and start being silly, the tone often does a 180. It's hard when you're frustrated, but it can totally change the vibe.

  • Killer mains mad that you don't want to run in a circle over and over until they can hit you.

  • They're there to give you chance to whack the killer before immediately getting downed.

  • As bored and annoyed as I am of the same tired perks over and over and over, people can bring what they want. If you limit what survivors can bring then maybe the four survivors can each choose a perk the killer can't bring. Bye bye Pain Res and Dead Man's Switch. They should also be able to choose not to play against Clown and Kaneki if they don't want to. If you start limiting options, a lot can go wrong.

    • I don't think the only source of income is the killers. Just look at how many Iron Maiden T-shirts there are around. In my opinion, this "let's always please the killers" policy will ultimately be financially detrimental.Over the years, many of my friends have abandoned DBD, and I assure you that they bought many skins

I think the devs really underestimate how much they can make off survivor players. I expected FNaF to have pizza place and security guard uniforms and all we got was t-shirts. I don't own half the licensed killers and zero extra cosmetics for any of them (I can't even see them when I'm playing) yet I bought the most recent Rift solely for an outfit for my survivor. I've already seen a ton of the new Lara Croft outfits that just came out too.

  • I've seen plenty of complaining about it. More for Franklin's than for old Streetwise, which is also ruined. Revert them both.

  • Yeah I haven't been enjoying getting freight trained. It's getting worse as the new Clowns practice too. I was beating about half at first and now its basically an immediate wash.

  • No one wants to play against Clown right now.

  • I don't even pay attention to these and they just get done. My current "complete trials" one is for 280 trials and that's almost done. I'm at tier 47 of the Rift so I guess I'll be done with all the colorways in a couple weeks maybe?

I've already seen people in that new Sable outfit, but I guess they might have paid for that boosted version.

You can assume they have a proportional size QA team because they have 1,000+ employees, or you can make a better based assumption on the quality of the game's updates and content in recent years. What would that have you believe? Makes me think either a). The QA team is too small for how much they need to test or b). They aren't testing things thoroughly enough.

I was consistently surprised by the amount of QA people who popped up in the anniversary quotes on the loading screen. Coulda fooled me. I'd assume the deadlines are so tight that there's only so much they can do.

  • Sucks he got super lucky and still died. That's the worst.

  • There's so much expectation for the killer. You're basically the star of the show. For me, something I hate about playing killer is after-game messages from survivors. One of the reasons I've avoided getting my killers too high in prestige is so people can't be like "how did you do so bad as a p-whatever." I've gotten that a few times as survivor even (from other survivors) but no where near as much. The endless taunting, even mid-chase, for no reason at all, also turns me off. The way people act makes me not even want to play killer.

I have some friends who all play different games but are in a voice chat together. I imagine that probably helps. You're pretty much just bsing like you're on a phone call. If you don't have anyone to link up with, you could probably meet some here. Kinda surprised I don't see more of that.

Yeah, no idea what they were thinking overall. I dont understand them jumping the gun that quickly with the changes, obviously many Survivors will use Fog Vials when they are new, they should have waited a month or two before they changed anything on them (aside from adding charges, this is fine) to see if Killers would still complain after a month when Fog Vials are more rare and the new toy syndrome is gone.

The Devs really spent time and money to develop something and then basically deleting it one week after. And honestly, if I would have worked on them, I would find it frustrating to spend time and effort on something which will not be used. I mean sure, the people who worked on Fog Vials got paid, but it does not really sound fulfilling to create something which then gets thrown into the bin a few days later.

I keep thinking about this, how it must be such a bummer to put work into creating something just for it to get immediately nuked.

  • Just give me old Streetwise back. My gen build is gutted. I can't be efficient on gens and I can't have fun with fog vials what can I dooooooo?

Oh its too difficult but if I'm just going with 3…

Night House - deals with depression, mental illness & death of loved ones. A lot of people don't know about this one, it is VERY underrated. Supernatural. Big recommend.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003) - Amazing brutal depiction of Leatherface & the family. (2006) is right up there as well, both really well done movies.

Hereditary - one of the better movies to do supernatural horrors.

Night House was way better than I expected

  • I very rarely have straight DCs on my end when I'm killer. Just end game abandons. I see more as survivor. I've had a fair amount of killer DCs lately too.

  • The matchmaking is all over the place. I recently tried The Knight out for the first time in a trial. A trial. I didn't even have him unlocked. I was just trying to figure out his abilities and it gave me three p100s that smashed me.

In an opposite scenario, I played Trapper for maybe the fifth time to get a Quest done. I expected to do pretty much nothing during the match but screw around and it gave me people who not only seemed new to the game but new to any game. I dead stooped in the middle of chases and gave them multiple opportunities to rebound and they just kept stepping in my poorly laid traps.

I realized I'd forgotten to put on the perk I needed for the Quest and did another match, praying for pros because I just felt icky. But nope, terrible people again. I pulled back and farmed at 2k cause I felt bad.

  • I had two people hiding during a 3gen recently and they just would not come out. One of them did eventually get crows. It took some time though. If I'm in the situation I usually just present myself to the killer. Dragging it on like that is excruciatingly boring. Who wants to just creep around for 10 minutes?

The previous rework was horrendous though. I never get crows and I got them several times. It was embarrassing showing up to a gen with them. The right option is somewhere in the middle of what they've done.

  • This map is embarrassing.

  • This is the only online multi I play. I was something of an addict with Uncharted 2 and 3 and Resident Evil 5, so I stopped. But now I'm addicted to this one. So I don't have much to compare it to. I'm a big horror fan, which is the only reason I picked it up to begin with.

I'm definitely older than the average player and I grew up long before micro-transactions (or even online multi) became a thing. I scoffed at the idea for years and I still don't buy much (most of the licensed characters are still locked for me) but I did buy the last two Rifts, which old me would have been shocked by.

I think my biggest issue with this game isn't its balance or its bugs but the people who play it. When I play killer, I play super fair but I still get taunted endlessly at exit gates or mid chase for no reason at all. I think this is the reason so many killer mains are so hateful towards survivors, because a good survivor team won't just destroy you, they'll be total dicks about it too, and for no reason. Whether you play bad or well, you'll get rude messages after the game. It's one of the reasons I've started to lean more towards survivor, because I don't get those messages.

As survivor, I never taunt killers unless I thought they played dirty or cheap. I won't taunt someone for a bad game. I won't flashlight click or act generally crummy. But killers will still tunnel, target, and hump me for no reason. The toxicity on both sides is terrible and the reason for that seems to be that the game has sides at all. If you play Call of Duty or some other deathmatch you're just in an equal match, but the us vs them in this game is built in.

Xeno, id replace the turrets / tail gameplay for more of a stealth approach with facehuggers (so yea kinda like pig)

As much as I despise the RBT this would be fun

  • I had a farming match once where my team wasn't fully on board with the concept. It was mostly me doing the farming with the killer. I asked to be hooked and there was a Jeff that had to be absolutely convinced by the killer to unhook me. He wasn't there when I'd pointed at the hook so maybe he thought the killer wanted to kill me? We screwed around until the last second and he ended up body blocking me at the gate, and I was so unprepared for it I got killed by thr EGC. It wasn't the killer's or my intentions. Buddy basically offered me up as a gift.

If it wasn't a SWF that made a decision together, than it might have been people who didn't understand that the person was meant to be unhooked. Or it could have been a 3-man who thought it was funny to screw their unlucky fourth. I've had plenty of those matches.

  • I'm not really sure how the xenomorph can be more or less faithful. It's an alien that kills people. There isn't much to it. Same with Leatherface. Physically, they nailed it, right down to that silly trot run. He's also just a guy that kills people. I love TCM but he's a pretty simple character.

From what I recalll of the Child's Play films, Chucky is pretty spot on. It's been a while though.

And yeah, Ghostface doesn't even count. He's pretty much an original character in dbd.

I haven't seen Tokyo Ghoul but, just from what I've read, Kaneki seems pretty far off. Didn't they have to twist his story pretty severely to make him work? Pyramidhead just overall doesn't make sense here, since he's not even a real person on his own, and these survivors mostly don't have guilt-ridden histories.

Sort of related, but I often wonder how many people who play this game even know who these characters are. I had a coworker recently tell me a younger relative had no idea who Pinhead was and thought Leatherface was based on Billy. That one hit me in the gut.

  • The Thing is what I want the most. If it could turn into the survivors in the match and make everyone crazy paranoid that would be amazing.

I would also love Candyman. That's one of my favorite movies and I'd be a Candyman main for sure.

    Pumpkinhead would also be cool.

Kind of a forgotten hunk of crap but I think the djinn from Wishmaster could be fun.

  • I think you'll be okay. The last one was the first one I ever bought the paid track and I was antsy but I think I had the whole thing done, including all the colorways, in like a month. And I wasn't thinking about Quests or anything.

  • @Brokenbones said:

I hate to be 'that guy' but…

    Healing against Kaneki isn't pointless…?

If you're injured he can just catapult himself at you and m1 you instead of needing to waste time injuring you with the hitscan attack first. Yeah if he wants enraged mode he'll have to do that anyway but it's at least a safety net from going down immediately after he finds you

Staying injured against Kaneki is just asking to get slugged and snowballed (Which is something he excells at)

Yeah I've never heard anyone advocating for not healing against Kaneki.

  • It's very LOUD and I dont really like being put on blast like thay when I'm the only p100 and I'm on the bottom of the scoreboard.

But I'd also like it to look totally different from the others in some way.

Personally speaking, I've always wanted to see the pickrate for survivors themselves.

Not their perks or items, but which survivor is picked. It's practically a pure popularity contest with some variance for paywalled characters, so it'd be interesting to see who the community likes the most.
Willing to bet the OG four are probably up there since everyone has access to them, but the whole list would also be interesting to see.

I've seen some numbers online but I have no idea how accurate they are. I think it said Sable was the most popular and it's 70% female characters but idk. I'd love to see something official.

When survivors complain about Clown, is it because they haven't spent enough time considering how the yellow bottles, used badly (or used instead of purple bottles) could benefit them too?

You've got to be the sorest winner here right now. The vials are trashed. All of this talk is just mourners lamenting at a funeral.

But please tell me how a Clown with invigoration add-ons, almost no reload time, and perks that let them haste stack to 40% can be used to any opponents advantage, especially people like me that don't use speed perks. And how do you use yellow bottles badly? You're literally just fast. Even if the survivor gets hit with the effect too, you're still faster.

And it's not just survivors vs killers. People play both, and very few people are defending the Clown changes, including Clown mains. I've been playing as him too (got myself a disgustingly easy adept yesterday) and I also think he needs a revert or further adjusting.

Im for down for that as long as the super speed is well balanced 🙏

I'll be willing to sacrifice damage done through grabs, even when slamming. I'd even be fine with max Uroboros infection not causing an instagrab. He can legit become an M1. I just wanna go zoom zoom zoom.

  • I want super speed for Wesker along the lines of Kaneki or Blight. I'd make just about any concessions for this. Buddy is faster than bullets in RE5 but in this game he's not even faster than some delinquent teenagers with knives.

I was starting to see some really fun plays—and lots of different plays. It wasn't just one scenario where they were being used, people were already getting really creative with them and I was honestly loving that even without really using them myself very much. It felt like the item really had potential for some new interesting strategies and techniques to come about that would've made matches exciting again.

So of course we had to nerf them into uselessness. God forbid survivors have any fun.

Yeah that's what I liked, the versatility. They were also a double-edge sword if you used them wrong. And they blocked survivor aura reading and we're messing with my use of Empathy for map awareness and quick rescues.

    1988a576e0066-screenshotUrl.jpg

Someone popped this one off randomly, probably to hide auras while healing, but inadvertently broadcasted thier location in the process.

I don't think killer mains spent enough time considering how the vials, used badly (or used instead of other items) could benefit them too.

  • IIt Is wild that "annoying" is actually the word I saw the most and that was enough to instakill it.

  • @littlehoot said:

I whole heartedly agree. I was really excited about them—during the brief period they weren't useless, I saw some teammates really using them for some amazing and creative plays. I really was ready to, for once, not bring my tool box to give them a go. Then they got nuked into oblivion.

Now they—and their add on's—join maps, keys and map offerings as useless bloodweb clutter I wish I didn't have to waste my bloodpoints on.

I was having so much fun with them. My actual value was iffy, but I was starting to get crafty with them. Doing some unpredictable twists and turns that sent the killer in a totally wrong direction was crazy satisfying. As killer, the rare moment of an organized team using them against me to protect their weaker teammates was quite well done. It had so much potential for a new element to the game. But God forbid we break up the monotony of running in circles around the shack.

  • I occasionally used maps for totem hunting but it was pretty rare. I haven't tried the new ones and don't really feel the need. Maps are good if you're new and you can't find the exit gates or something. I've actually never used the key. It's just not interesting to me.

Fog Vials were on their way to being my new go-to. Killer mains cried about them, so now my meme build is back on the shelf and I'm back to my genrush build. Hope they got what they wanted from that campaign.

So yeah, those are the only three useful items. I'm convinced they want the bloodweb to be filled with crap so you waste your BP and keep grinding. I dump so much into my survivors and I'm still constantly out of the add-ons I want, yet my killers are always good to go with almost no spending. I can get use out of most killers add-ons, but Survivors have endless junk to sift through.
