I was pretty into Star Wars pre-Disney but I didn't play that one. I loved Jango Fett: Bounty Hunter though, which was aroud the same time.
-
At its core, this game is
easy to pick up as survivor, hard to learn as killerTotal opposite experience for me. I started the game as killer but whenever I tried survivor I couldn't understand anything. The game gives you pretty much no clue what to do. You don't know the gen layouts, what a hex totem is, how to read the killer's perks, where your teammates are or what they're doing, what gens you should prioritize, when to unhook and heal, or how the killer's powers work. Like how on earth are you supposed to know when your aura is being read or what triggers killer instinct? Not to even mention looping/chase. I couldn't even hit a skill check and watch my surrounding simultaneously. Survivor is so lacking in info and instruction it's damn near unplayable when you're new. It was a long while before I even touched the role. More info for survivor is desperately needed.
-
If I can shake the DbD addiction cravings long enough, playing a story-based game helps me remember what I like about gaming.

To clarify, I wasn't talking about a character that only had a military background, I was talking about like uniform and stuff, but I now realize that maybe a survivor with camo could be overpowered in stealth.
And we have characters with military outfits:
All paid though, unfortunately. Same for the releveant RE ones. An argument could be made for a non-licensed option.

After what Gun and Illfonic did to F13th, TCM and Predator Hunting Grounds, no one has any faith in any game those companies touch.
The Halloween game will last about a year before it flops, then the license holders will come crawling back to BHVR.
Best case scenario is the Halloween game is miraculously a great game and doesn't get abandoned nor becomes a cashgrab, which pulls some players away from DBD. In response, BHVR first switches up their roadmap and starts prioritizing licensed content, if that doesn't work, they pull a Blizzard and "suddenly" a bunch of stuff and QOL that have been requested for years get released rapid-fire to bring back the players initially lost to the Halloween game. Returning the status quo when player numbers return to BHVR's liking.
Unfortunately, being limited to a single license, the Halloween game cannot offer the same variety long-term that DBD offers with its constantly growing number of licenses. Even if the people behind the game didn't have a horrible track record, it would take a lot for DBD to be truly threatened.
I agree with all of this. I don't care much about IPs but DbD being chocked full is what keeps me around. There are 41 killers and tons of perks to change things up. If I'm bored with a playstyle, build, character, or role I can change.
I played a bit of TCM but, even with that being one of my favorite films, it felt too samey too quickly. The two roles both being third person and both having set abilities per character wasn't interesting to me either. It's the variety that keep me with DbD, and it been built up over so many years that I don't know how anyone catches up.

I don't remember playing the event much last year so I can't really compare. I was also a killer-only player then, so I only saw the one side.
This year it's been mostly like the other recent events: too sweaty. As survivor I can't take anything seriously and I just want to throw snowballs, so the killers just stomp me. As killer, I'm mostly getting sweaty teams, so I can't do much event-wise.
BUT I did have a survivor match with @For_The_People and @THE_Crazy_Hyena that might have been the most fun match I've ever played. The killer was chill and we roamed about as snowman, had snowball fights, I was publicly flogged on hook for breaking the killer's snowman, and we had a snowman race instead of a slug race, resulting in the comical knee-glide exit animation. It was such a wonderfully wholesome 40 minutes I don't know how I can play normal again.
-
I've had a ton of trouble with this, particularly in the last few weeks. I've also had a weird hit validation issue, where I get a hit, usually at a pallet drop, they make the pain sound, but they don't get injured/go down. It's happened to me on several different killers too. Happened just last session with Wekser.
-
Personally I think there's enough of this in the endless stream of military shooters out there, but Rainbow Seige and BSAA Felix fit the bill, as does Tubarao.

Even if he doesn't return, he's been around forever, so there's tons of players who already have him. And I'm sure many more players will unlock him with the Last Chance sale before the time runs out. So I suspect we'll still see a lot of Michael in our matches.
I've been seeing endless Michaels since the rework was first announced, and I'm really hating slaughtering strike. I could do with less Micheal for a bit.

The price! My god!
I've been hoping for an art book though. Maybe I'll grab that on its separate release. I only just recently bought from their site for the first time and wasn't thrilled. Paid a crazy amount for a print just for it to have a white spot in the middle. I'm willing to give it another shot though.
-
I've hit at least 10 people in snowmen. They're using them more than you think. Aura read has been showing me when someone goes into one.
-
I'd change Invocations to not make you broken, but to take longer, maybe 120s. Wasting a bunch of time is a big enough penalty.
I'd change Friends til the End to select the person with the least hooks. As it is, it always seems to go for someone who just got unhooked a second ago or the one person on death hook.

Yeah if they're not going to have weekend/holiday moderators then they need to put restrictions on image/link posting and ideally account creation every weekend. Dunno how feasible any of that is but something needs to be done about the weekend chaos.
Yeah this person being able make two separate accounts to do this should not be able to happen. At the very least, if a new account gets a sudden batch of flags on their post, new account creation and photo posting should be locked until a mod can check in.

Let it be known it took 18 hours from the original post for the gore to be deleted. Do better, mods.

I'll point to a comment Mandy posted this morning as I feel she perfectly encapsulates this. I get your frustration and want you to know that we are looking at the moderation escalation process.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4038388#Comment_4038388
Speaking to the disabling of pictures at certain times, this is one of the cases where we're limited in what we can do based on our Hosting service. BUT! That doesn't mean the feedback hasn't been heard. This is something we'll keep in mind, should there be alternative solutions!
You need to have some extra help that can at least delete posts. There can't be these massive gaps in coverage where the house is on fire and no one even peeks in. I'm positive you can find regular members willing to do this.
-
It will change me from not having it to having it. Will I use it? Who knows.

Wild but at least DS will be free.

I really appreciate you taking the time to break this all down and appreciate the lateral thinking on your problem solving!
Priority number one right now is ensuring that any any images that violate the rules here have been removed - something that appears to be handled now. On that topic, I wanted to thank you again for showing care in looking out for folks here.
We're always keeping an eye out for feedback that can help make these forums feel better to use, so I'll be sure to share yours with the team!
It took 18 hours for you guys to delete the gore, starting from first post. Yet the lengthy post of us expressing our outrage at the moderation team's decisions was deleted first. Is it more important to get rid of discontent or pictures of dead people?

This is true.
But I am kinda sick of it. You know I try to watch the whole picture and try to give improvements. But as soon as these improvements lean to one side i get a 4to1 ratio without a single answer why posts are good or bad.
So you could manipulate your total up and downvotes on this forum and someone who speaks his mind even if his points are total valid could be seen as bad because he got tons of downvotes.
It doesn't seem like they really use them for anything though.
-
On the third point, downvoting is safer than speaking because speaking gets you warned/jailed/banned. I can now say that with experience. With how erratic the punishment system is here, many are afraid to speak, especially those on last strike.

Well, I apologise for starting the kitten chain since it gave the incentive to slip more gore in between by these dumbasses. I just wanted to spread a little positivity and a serotonin boost.
Said it before, will say it again - leaving a forum completely unmoderated for 12+ hours (and probably even longer if we are real, we just did not notice until now because the gore is STILL up) is unacceptable.
It's usually not this long, but the first post was earlier than the norm for these.
And it's not your fault. It was wholesome while it lasted.

honestly nothing but respect for u guys playing killer on console. Console made me a survivor main while i was on it
I find killer easier than survivor on controller, at least for the serious parts of survivor. Tight, sharp, precise movements during chase are difficult with the slow acceleration of joysticks, so those perfect juicer chases feel unobtainable.
Depends on the killer though. Ranged killers are rough. Billy and Nurse too. There are little things that are hard even with killers I use. Selecting from Vecna's spell wheel is wonky and I constantly choose the wrong ones. Freddy and Dredge's teleport lining-up are a bit weird and I regularly send Dredge to the basement for no reason. I don't even bother with techs.
I do okay with both roles though, and both my ER and KR are on the rise, so I can't really complain. It's the Switch players that need all our blessings.

I developed my own solution for being spun if you are mindful about aim deessing; I spin with the spinners like a silly Lil goober which waves my damage hitbox around, as m1s linger a fair bit. I did it to be a memelord but it seems to genuinely confuse people, and one guy thought I was a high dpi PC sweatlord
Bro is your sensitivity at 500%? By the time I do a full spin with a joystick the match is over.
I tend to sort of look toward the ground so I can predict a sudden movement, but I also want to look up, so my camera does this constant up and down movement. I didn't realize just how odd it looked and how much I do it until I started clipping stuff for bug reports.

to be fair, i can see your intent and i sort of agree with you saying dont click on it…. but in a way it does draw attention to it by you mentioning it. i wouldnt have known about it if i didnt see your post saying to avoid it lol.
also, its similar to the whole naming and shaming thing that can get people banned. cheating is wrong and bannable but drawing attention to the cheater by naming and shaming them can get you banned too even if your just raising awareness of it. wouldnt this be the same thing? the gore image is clearly wrong and the poster will be banned but naming the post that contains it is drawing attention to it so wouldnt that be bannable too?
Bro come on. No one was named and it's not even a real account. The mods aren't here to delete. This is the best I can do.
And if you choose to click on it after being told what it was, that's on you. When these posts happen, people comment their disgust and they get bumped so more people seem them.

If it's all you know, you manage, but yeah, there are some killers I won't even play. It would take too much to learn them when I can just play others. Getting spun is easy, and doing a well-timed spin as survivor is hard. Sensitivity adjustment helps a little, and the input lag feels normal when you're used to it.

Because that was the case back when DC's were introduced, I would need to find the VOD, but I remember it being like late 2022/early 2023. Mechanically, the killer could only be granted MMR on sacrifice/kill, not on DC. That was part of the reason why DBD mobile had DC's being replaced with bots, and why the main game took like 2 years after the introduction of MMR to add in bots.
And I would agree to flashlight, if not for the fact that you need angles, it has terrible addons and there is a perk that fully denies the ability to flashlight.
As for the survivor not losing MMR, thats mainly because killers can force a 2v1 to turn into a nearly guaranteed 4k. Why should the killer get that 4th kill basically for free and still gain MMR? Why should a survivor lose MMR when alternatives are impossible? Why should a survivor lose individual MMR because their teammates caused the situation to lose?
Killers and survivors are different. The average killrate is more than 2, meaning the average game, the killer gains mmr. So why should the killer gain free MMR on average? That's somewhat balanced out with the abandon optionWhy should a survivor lose MMR when alternatives are impossible?
Becuase they lost? So you think survivors should basically get free match deletions just because? A loss is a loss. Being the last one/s to die shouldn't give you free hatch. You're team sucked? Well, you chose to soloq.
Are you saying it's fine that those flashlighters were able to just check out of the match, not get a loss, and leave their teammates behind because their choice of method didn't work? Lightborn is part of the game. If it wasn't supposed to be there, it wouldn't be. You shouldn't just be able to leave for free because you don't like the killers perk.
DCs are different because they can happen as soon as the match loads, and the killer may have only interactd with a bot. The killler has to have at least played against anyone who abandons. They're not the same.
MMR gain isn't some badge of honor. The killer goes up and gets more skilled opponenets. If two people abandon every time I 4k and I don't gain MMR from them, the game is forcing me to smurf by staying lower, and if my opponents played like crap they get to stay higher, where they may not belong. How can you possibly defend that?
-
It's been a happening to me a lot during Bone Chill. I was disconnected from 2 out of 8 matches the other day. Loading in has been super slow too.

That and male survivor fingers cross in uncomfortable looking ways when healing others sometimes.
Honestly survivor rigs/animations need an update across the board, especially since its universally used, the game could really benefit from some visual refinement again in that department.I also agree. Their arms and backs are weird looking. Too broad and bulky.
