Truth and there arent much of good aura perks that killers are running like if he hooks someone and comes directly for you (especialy if its killer with good mobility like blight or billy) its obvious he has barbecue and chilly, if he kicks gen and comes for you while you are hiding near its nowhere to hide etc., there arent many aura reading perks that are worth run alone and killers with 4 of them are lacking chase perks so you should have way longer chases than against baboozle or brutal srenght, no gen slowdown and regression perks so gens should be done fast and killers options to stop them are only limited to slugging and tunneling or having super fast downs that arent possible with majority of killers if they dont run chase oriented builds, no endgame perks so when you are on gates that are powered there is no perk that would help killer to get you etc. these builds just work maybe on nurse and thats it, killer will know where you are but thats all he has plus his power with addons ynd gens, chases and getting gates should be way easier than with build that has more perks like one aura, one gen deffence or two like pain res and dead lock and one endgame or chase.

I do quite well with Weave/Franklin's because it's less expected than BBQ, Nowhere, or Friends, and if there's an item on a different floor the survivor has no idea I can see them. Darkness Revealed has its moments too. I also run aura add-ons like Lavalier Mic and Scratched Mirror and those are almost uncounterable.

I mean both matters. Just look at Asia for example, survivors are actually dominant in that region and killer is clearly the unpopular role.

In my region, killers feel dominant and super sweaty whereas survivors are super casual

I bounce back and forth between both roles and get sweats at that time in both roles. There's literally no peace at 2am.

  • I've played in multiple time zones and what I've noticed is it's not the place that matters, it's the time of day. I mostly play between midnight and 6am in my region and I get sweaty survivor teams with flashlights, DH, DS, Made for This, We're Gonna Live Forever, and Background Player who play super aggressive. But on my days off, if I can get on at 2pm or something reasonable like that, it's a bit less psychotic. Not 100%, but better.

Hopefully whatever they have in store for next year's matchmaking changes isn't crap. I would also like to feel like I'm consistently facing people on my same level.

Quite the opposite, survivor mains are the majority on this forum, it's clear by the upvote/downvote ratio on any post concerning the balance. This is why the game becomes increasingly more survivor favored, as the devs quickly implement any upvoted request and ignore any downvoted opinion.

Not everything is as severely biased as you want it to be. Almost everyone I know plays both roles and wants both to be in a good place.

Also, every recent attempt to do anything for survivors has been nuked by feedback. Fog vials, anti-tunnel, anti-slug, and anti-camp were all recent casualties. Ten upvotes on a mildly populated forum isn't changing this game.

They will run 16 second chance perks and take 7 hits for each hook state each, making it only possible to secure a kill if you just focus one guy. You will finish consuming his endurances and hastes just when they pop the last gen, if you are lucky

Does your KR actually reflect this hyperbole?

  • I've been playing him a bit recently but only as Scratched Mirror. Slaughtering Strike and basekit mori are too lame for me to touch.

For the record, Distortion is still a perfectly reliable and consistent aura blocking tool.

An underrated strength of Distortion compared to some of its peers (of which there admittedly aren't enough, in my opinion) is that it tells you what perks the killer is bringing, with a small margin for error. Knowing what the killer has is useful because it means you can start avoiding future aura reads without using a token on it.
If the killer has Barbecue & Chili, for example, one of the more popular aura reading perks, then Distortion using one token on that tells you it's BBQ reliably (as the other post-hook aura perks have extra tells), and that means you can hop in a locker to preserve tokens when the killer's about to hook someone.

If you want some extra answers, there are two, though one of them did get weaker recently.

Off The Record gives you 40 seconds of aura blocking after you're unhooked, which is admittedly not nearly as good as it used to be but it can still let you slip away from the hook and reset without being sniped by a random aura reveal. If that's the kind of situation the killer finds you in that's causing you annoyance, OTR is decent.

Boon: Shadow Step gives you a bubble of complete immunity to auras, which means that - if you use it smartly, it's easy to waste time with it - you can get specific generators done without having your aura revealed. If it's killers approaching your generators that causes you frustration, Shadow Step is pretty decent there.

Distortion works in both scenarios, just less reliably, and it's extra good at beating perks that reveal your aura mid-chase like I'm All Ears or Predator.

Aura perks are quite good on the whole, but they aren't uncounterable. They're also pretty plentiful, but your average killer is only going to be using one or two, and it's likely to be one or two of maybe five ish perks to boot, most aura perks don't really see play.
You've got answers, you just need to be able to identify what aura triggers give you the most trouble.

Shadow Step is crazy good. I've been encountering it a lot in my killer matches lately, when I'm either Scratched Mirror Myers or running a usually dependable Weave/Franklin's build, and it's a massive nuisance.

  • Or we could just bring back the rank system and keep the sweats together that way.

  • Most aura is pretty easy to counter. You just have to pay attention to the killer's build and react accordingly.

not even that, but vanilla literally has automation that allows you to perform an automated action based on how many reports something receives, and it can be a specific type.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/DVN2UAN7RE75/escalation-rule-example-highspamreports.png

this image comes directly from their documentation.

if we can't have trusted users to delete posts, at least have it so reports with specific keywords or report types get escalated. you can even set it where a post that meets a flag threshold gets hidden. this would mitigate like 60% of the problem off the rip.

why they refuse to leverage anything in the administration panel is beyond me. even though vanilla sucks, they still have options.

It really can't be this easy what

  • Luckily the holiday meant most people missed the post.

  • We're at 9 hours now. The posts are getting earlier and earlier. The previous was two hours later than this one. The one before that was two hours later than that.

3 others failed. If those 3 others start gunning for hatch, you could be looking down the barrel of a 25% ER.

Put all the rats in matches together (and make me the killer).

it does change the outcome because someone could get a potential save. going down isnt the end as much as many survivor like to think it is. people dont need to DC when they go down even when they are on death hook but they still do. Like i said, play as solo and get lumped with 3 randoms, you will soon discover what people are referring to. untill then your playing a game where half your team is swf every match because your in a duo

I haven't had much time to play lately but my last 4 survivor matches were solo. I survived all, and they were all 3 or 4 outs. I play it occasionally, when I have something time-based I need to do. And I played it plenty before that. It hasn't changed drastically in the last 4 months since I mostly stopped. And I never became selfish or stopped recognizing a 3k as a loss for survivors, regardless of hatch.

no they didnt, everyones escape rate is pretty much incorrect unless they dont abandon. im just going based on the OP stats saying 43% and mine saying up to 70% as a comparison as its all we have to go on at this point

So you are using the abandon feature?

  • Oh God is that today's flavor? I'm choosing to dodge this time.

  • I thought they were gonna get us on Christmas day. My predictions are getting weak.

  • A. If there we're two left they were probably trying to get both, yes.

    B. Some people accept their losses very well and let people go. I just recently had a match where I was the last left on the map, the countdown was running out, and the killler was blocking my escape. I just stood there and looked at him, and he stepped aside and let me leave. It happens. My theory is as people play more and become more bitter, they stop doing this, especially if they have end game chat and think everyone is toxic.

    C. Another example of accepting a loss with dignity. Do them the favor of just leaving and don't make them wait.

  • It's been sweaty as both roles. I've barely touched it. I'd like to, but there's really no reason to choose it over regular mode unless I want to be spammed by snowballs during chase.

What do you mean, harder to manipulate killer stats? This screenshot is just from loggin in to get the bonechill event quests done, no tryhard, 3 hours timespan. To someone like you this means I'm a good player, right? Yet I know how these matches went and how ppl DC'd in them, Every… single… match.

Honestly I would love to hear theories as to why someone like me is getting so many DC's. Honest question, promiss. I would love to know the difference between you and I. I probably asked this before but I forgot, US or EU? I am EU (german server). My experience on EU servers is one out of 2 options:

    1. Super sweaty tryhard comp team or coordinated swf, match done in aprox 4 to 5 mins (usually lose for me)
    2. Someone DC early, most likely these are all solo Q (usually win for me)

There is no in between. Obviously all of my bonechill matches were of the 2nd kind. The default experience for me. Survivors can complain all they want, regardless of result I did not have fun either… Hence I don't play in a serious capacity anymore.

The problems arent the stats, which may be correct or incorrect due to many reasons. It is 100% survivors behaviour that affects match results.

I play on both EU and NA and have had my fair share of memeing Canadian Ghostfaces and tryhard Russian Huntresses. I will agree there's a trend towards DCing (as well as lobby dodging) in EU that isn't as present in NA, but it's still not to this degree that I hear.

Part of my point is that many DCs may not be just because of the killers. If I see a random is being tunneled, I will insert myself into the chase and give the killer a free down if needed. People are probably more likely to stay when their team is supportive. But if you have people saying they're not unhooking or taking aggro, why would you expect those teammates to not be unhappy? I don't play a team role to have the team be against me, so I don't blame someone if they DC while on hook because a teammate is standing behind a rock while someone else is in chase on the opposite end of the map. That is why I almost never soloq.

I also play killer almost exclusively from 11pm to 5am, during killer-bonus hours, so my matches are also against sweaty, cordinated teams. Time of day has shown itself to be more relevant to what sort of matches I'll get than region.

To someone like you this means I'm good player, right?

    I literally just said this:

I'm also not using my stats to say I'm good (I'm not)

I don't think stats are worth much. You can have an 80% KR against all soloqers and be unimpressive, or a 65% against all comp sweats and be amazing.

Just winning isn't manipulation though, unless you're repeatedly slugging people to try to grief them into abandoning. But you can manipulate survivor stats easily by abandoning. Ever since the option was added, I've noticed people posting average overalls of about 40% (pre-abandon numbers) and then showing much higher monthlies. The survivor stats are wrong yet people keep using them as examples even though many know they're wrong. I promise you I could make a burner account, play as a cowardly rat, and make sure that if I go down it's at the end so I can abandon and I could easily get an 80% ER that way. Until they fix it so abandons count as losses on personal stats, I don't trust anyone's survivor stats except my own, because I don't use the abandon feature. But I wouldn't expect anyone to believe that since almost everyone hits that button the moment it appears. It's why I basically never mention my survivor stats. They mean nothing now. The only thing stats are good for is showing match counts, so we can prove we actually play the game we all have so many opinons on.

  • @Munky said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040456#Comment_4040456

Because you manipulate your stats to your argument just as much as you claim the other guy doing it. I'll use myself as example: I have 80% KR on my low tier killer main as well… doesn't mean I'm good at it, not even close. I know for a fact that my KR is inflated because the majority of matches someone DC in the first minute/first down, which then affects the match outcome cause bots are fast/easy to catch. But for some reason everyone including BHVR is looking at that stat as if it means something…

The fact that you don't have this happening could mean a multitude of things, which has alrdy been discussed in other topics. Why would runningguy or me be lying about this? What could possibly be the purpose? I literally don't even play the game right now due to that DC epidemic. It's not worth my time to Q up for.

The Asian server experiment Hens did recently is ultimate proof that solo Q survivor is fine in terms of balance. It is literally just a western mentality/entitlement issue that ruins the game for us. People just don't want to hear that hard truth and look at the evidence for themselfs.

First off, if every match with a bot is a false match, everyone's KRs are false to some extent. I don't buy that, because a bot that I can't find and get rid of is a bigger threat than half this game's human players. They suck at chase but they're great at gens, unhooking, healing, and escaping. I'm also not using my stats to say I'm good (I'm not), I'm using them to show that I'm winning more than losing yet I don't have all these frustrated people DCing.

But I already said I rarely have anyone DCing so how am I manipulating? And even if that wasn't the case, manipulation implies intent. Survivor stats are far easier to manipulate than killer ones. If I were abandoning and getting a high ER for that, those would be false stats, but I don't abandon, so my surv stats are genuine. Nor do I often escape through hatch, so my MMR goes up and down appropriately.

I don't care what some streamer who represents almost no regular player did. I am actually playing this game in a normal, non-money-making way everyday and don't need them to tell me what to think. DCs are rare in my matches, and when they happen, it's almost never at the beginning. It's usually when the match is already 100% mine.

  • @runningguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040452#Comment_4040452

literally 50% of my matches a while ago someone DC at some point in the match. i dont care enough to write anything down, i went by the stats page and looked at the last lot of matches played and about half of them someone DC'd.

you said it yourself you almost never play solo because you dont want awful team mates so you couldnt possibly know how often it happens. as killer your play style might contribute to the lack of people DCing. try soloq survivor and see how it goes in the real world.

they may very well be different mmr levels for my killer and survivor. it still doesnt change the fact im doing fine as solo survivor and have been for some time now. maybe my mmr was tanked when i was doing challenges and i wasnt escaping…my escape rate took a hit during that time so its possible my mmr did too.

I've played plenty of soloq. I still do lots of duoing, so half my team is usually randoms. They don't DC that much. There are five people in a match. It might not be the killer's actions that make your teammates DC.

You don't care that much but you talk about DCs endlessly so you do care, or at least it's a talking point you enjoy using. When people DC in a match matters. If they're on death hook after being tunneled and they DC right when they're downed out of frustration, it doesn't really change the outcome, does it? But you can still use it as pure data to manipulate an argument.

My 30-day KR has been sitting at 70-85% for the last few months. If I'm winning most of my matches, often with 4 or 5 gens up, wouldn't those be logical matches to DC, if any? What are all these other killers doing that's causing this supposed epidemic that I don't see in either role?

  • @runningguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040449#Comment_4040449

it shouldnt, but mmr is broken as we all know. dont even need to be a new player. can be a very good looper but they are doing challenges or adepts. they can be amazing loopers and still not enjoy playing v ghoul so they DC. for years people have been going next when they dont like something so it wouldnt surprise me if survivors in particular have tanked the mmr in some way over the years. you say swf cant carry people but it doesnt explain why there have been players that play swf regularly, win a lot but then openly say they wont play soloq just after they got steamrolled. some people are good as they are, some people need the team. in my matches i get a mix bag of good players, players that DC at the sight of a certain killer, last night i had pro comp player that has an official team for competitions, sometimes i will have griefers, cheaters, i get a mix. my survivor matches are very different to my killer matches.

not really sure what to say regarding stealth… im just that good?

I see plenty of people who say they won't play solo but not because of themselves. I almost never play it because I don't want garbage teammates who creep around edgemap because they're injured or leave me on hook to die because they have no gamesense, don't know how to read the HUD, and don't bring info perks to help them with awareness.

I'm never going to go along with this everyone-DCs-every-match stuff. Start writing down how often people DC and when they do it. I do that, and my DCs in my killer matches consistently sit around 3%-5% of opponenets. It's really not that bad.

If your survivor matches are very different from your killer matches wouldn't you assume those are different MMR levels?

  • @runningguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040441#Comment_4040441

even people with 3k hours can dc or go next or not bother doing gens. like i said before, there are some that have a go at soloq after getting to high mmr via swf that rely on comms then struggle in soloq. i know not all people are like that but i know of a few. i agree though, they are bad players which is why i often leave them to die while i walk out the gates.

Hours don't make you good. They could also be mostly a killer-player for all you know. But this math still doesn't mathing. A 60-70% ER would logically put you in the uppermost MMR bracket where there shouldn't be potatoes. SWF isn't going to carry a bad genuinely player that far. Maybe to the one below that, but they aren't winning against the best killers on their servers if they're not at least decent.

I've played many killer matches where I've watched each player dodge in and out and load in separately, so I knew for a fact they were soloers. These people often play just as well as a SWF team, body blocking and taking hits at strategic times, watching the hud to know when to unhook, and doing the most for strangers. That's how skilled players play. So if you have people unhooking at stupid times then they can't be top tier players. As a mid survivor who is likely in one of the mid brackets even I have gamesense. I also still have no idea what decent killer-player is being fooled by stealth. You constantly say you have to tunnel to win against these stellar teams you go against as killer. Are your survivor teammates acting like those players? Because it doesn't sound like it.

  • @runningguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040422#Comment_4040422

you clearly underestimate how often killers get kills because survivors unhook too soon or when killers pick up 4k because they all try to save that 1 hooked player at the end. how many people get tunneled because they get unhooked before the killer has time to move from the hook?

as for leaving me on hook. i dont leave everyone on hook, just the ones i consider to not be helpful in my escape. if its a good looper or someone that does gens properly then i will unhook because they aid in my escape…doesnt make sense to let decent players die hindering my own escape. if its end game then sure, im out of there.

But yes, if people can do gens and get the gates open and get 3 man out while i die on hook thats exactly what i expect. if im throwing the match then yes i expect to be left on hook while the good players do gens and escape. im describing a game that is…the choice is there for as all to make. i made my choice on how to play and i escape a lot because of it. i get tunneled less because of it. soloq is fun because of it. if you decide to play differently and play the team game then the results speak for themselves….people say its impossible, the dont escape, they hate it. so the question is, whats better? my way or the "team" way of playing?

i would like to add im pretty sure the asian servers have higher escape rates than the rest of the world…. its a known thing that generally people on those servers favour stealth and selfish gameplay. it explains a lot really. they play more like me and they escape more.

you clearly underestimate how often killers get kills because survivors unhook too soon or when killers pick up 4k because they all try to save that 1 hooked player at the end. how many people get tunneled because they get unhooked before the killer has time to move from the hook?

You're describing bad plays and poor decision-making. I'd think with such a high ER you wouldn't have potato teammates, if MMR works just as well as you seen to think it works for killers.

i would say it more reasonable to assume after years of getting high kill rate to be in high mmr than it is to assume years of high kill rate and still be in the lower mmr. thats just logic. we dont know the mmr so the only basis we have is whats logically more likely. we could all be wrong and mmr doesnt even exist but we are told it does exist and kills increase mmr, even if its slightly.

You're also assuming that everyone who says their upper MMR has a high KR and has played for years. I've seen people post terrible KRs in one thread and refer to themselves as upper MMR in another.

And Aven_Fallen's point stands. If all these people are upper MMR, why do they complain about getting no hooks before gens start popping or about Sprint Burst or any little thing that such a super skilled player would be able to deal with?

  • @runningguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4040019#Comment_4040019

true but like i said if a killer is getting 4k often for years then notices a huge difference in matches and an increase in swf then its a reasonable assumption to assume they are in high mmr. even having less mmr for killing easy players, after years it would add up

If no one knows their MMR then there's no real basis for comparison. I mostly go against sweaty survivors who coordinate well. I don't think it indicates anything except that I play at 2am.

  • @runningguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4039981#Comment_4039981

while you are right some people believe they are in high mmr when they are not but when people maintain very high kill rates for years then logic says they would or should be in high mmr. if someone getting 4k match after match for years doesnt get someone into high mmr than im curious what would?

MMR isn't as simple as everyone wants it to be.

First off, I think the one thing just about all of us agree on is that the matchmaking is poor. They're are only four brackets and there's a good chance you'll be matched with people who appear to be in a different one than your own. The people I'm matched to have more to do with the time of day than anything else I can ascertain.

MMR gains and losses aren't some 1 for 1 number. If you're a killler who gets paired with three survivors in lower-mid and one in uppermost but you only kill the three lowers, you're going to get a lot less MMR from those three than you would have from the other, and you're going to loose a little for that one escaping. Special events, like Haunted by Daylight and Bone Chill, affect your stats but not your MMR. So your personal stats don't always reflect your MMR level.

Than there's the abandon system. If we go by what Balrog said (and we still have no clarification) you don't gain MMR from bots, and there's more and more ways to abandon. So if you go into matches and just slug people until they abandon, you'll gain kills in stats but not MMR. In my last 275 matches I had 196 abandons. That's 17% of my opponents who I didn't gain MMR from but still beat.

This is only talking about killers too. There's plenty of assuming survivors in this forum, but a high ER doesn't mean they're super skilled. The abandon let's you remove bad games from your stats. You said yourself people get downed on purpose to abandon. This happens in my matches daily. The result is the survivors don't loose their MMR or gain a loss on their records, and I don't gain MMR yet I gain kills. So you have survivors with inflated stats and MMR, and killer's with stats that might not reflect their MMR, plus matchmaking so bad it doesn't even matter. How worthwhile is a system like that for assuming or discussing anything?

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

You have valid points, sadly this Forum is not the place for that. This is a giant echo chamber with lots of Killers who REALLY struggle at the game. Here you can find people who say they play at the highest MMR and say things like "90 second chases are fast" or claim that Survivors "abuse" the AFC because they did not realize that the Survivor they were chasing next to a hooked Survivor has left the area and they chased themselves for so long that the Feature triggered. Yes, I am not joking.

I want to go over your points:

    MMR Inflation

I would agree. Because there is one simple fact - it is easier to increase Killer MMR than Survivor MMR. If you tunnel (which most Killers do who want to increase their MMR), you will have an easy game once it is a 3v1. So if your tunneling at 5 Gens was successful, the game will end in AT LEAST a 3K. There is not really any other possible outcome, except the 3 remaining Survivors are far better than the Killer. However, if your teammate gets tunneled out, you will most likely die, because again - the game is not really winnable at this point, unless your remaining teammates are far better than the Killer. You can be good at chases or be efficient, but with 25% of your team lost early, it is hard to come back from this.

And because Killers can inflate their MMR like this, they will reach a point where they go against very, very good Survivors who almost always escape. And then obviously tunneling becomes harder, because those Survivors are hard to catch and even if you tunnel, you will most likely have problems with the remaining Survivors. Plus they will in general bring better Loadouts.

    Entitlement

This is a very good point. Killer players seem to think that they NEED to win basically every game. Even if that is not true. And if they dont win a game, it is because they claim the game is survivor-sided. The game being survivor-sided is something which is not true for many years at this point, it is something which gets parotted because it was true until 2019 or so. Same Killer Mains also claim that they always go against good Survivors OR that all Survivors are bad, but they still win, because the game is so survivor-sided.

And yet you have people who play DBD for a living and win almost every game. And if you bring that forward, the response is usually that you cannot compare the average Killer Main to those players. Which is true, but then the next question is - if people who play the game for a living and play multiple hours a day rarely encounter very strong Survivor Teams, why do those people think that they only encounter good Survivors? The truth is, if you are not good at the game, even an average person can seem too strong for you.

    Killer Main Politics

Sadly it is true that there are Killer Main Politics. And this will not stop, until the Devs have some courage and actually implement changes they have been working on. Because the Devs now backpaddled at least twice in recent times with the Anti-Tunnel and Anti-Slug changes. And they really should stop listening to the loud people and just blindly follow what they say. The correct way to implement the Anti-Tunnel changes would have been to bring them to Live and then tweak them. Increasing the Benefits for not tunneling, lowering the penalty for killing a Survivor early…Whatever would have been needed, because their idea of actual punishments for tunneling and actual rewards for not tunneling was great. Give people time to play and adapt to the changes. Yet both times they listened to the loud cloud of complainers and almost everything got scrapped. And because this happened at least twice now, Killers will ALWAYS do that if something gets into the game they dont like. A few years ago the Devs still listened, but did not do kneejerk reactions or blindly followed the loud people and this was way better.

Another example would be the changes to Breakdown and Wicked. I think both Perks would have been fine in their PTB-version. Yes, Wicked seemed to be really strong, but in the end, Killers dont need to hook people in the Basement (and barely do it anyway, because Pain Resonance exists and the way to the basement usually wastes too much time) and if a Survivor purposely goes down next to Basement, every semi-decent Killer should know what is going on. And Breakdown would have just been a decent Perk which would have found its way into some Builds.

And yet again - instead of testing, the loud people won.

(You can argue that the Pallet Density changes were also the Devs listening to the loud people rather quickly.. But Pallet Density was a mess overall and complaints were justified for many maps, even tho a full revert would have looked better for the Devs instead of going 180 and make maps super unsafe… Especially because a full revert would have also meant that Haddonfield would have been very killer-sided again, but nobody would really care since the map would be gone anyway)

    Survivor Mains adapt

Fully agree here. The funny thing is that Killer Mains usually say that Survivors have to adapt, but if something is changed on Killer, they dont want to adapt but start to spam the Forums and Social Media. But I think that the main reason is that Survivors simply had more Nerfs in the lifespan of the game (which is an undeniable fact, even if some funny people really think that Killers get nerfed every Patch and Survivors get buffed every Patch). And while many of those Nerfs for Survivor were completely justified (since Survivors were busted for the first 2-3 years of DBD), it makes it easier for Survivors to adapt, since they are basically used to getting their things nerfed. For Killer, you dont really see that. If there is a Nerf to a Killer, you only see them slowly adapt to it.

So yeah, overall you are speaking the truth. Even if many people wont like it. Because they are stuck in their way that the game is survivor-sided and to play Killer you have to be very good, which is just not true (anymore).

Here you can find people who say they play at the highest MMR and say things like "90 second chases are fast" or claim that Survivors "abuse" the AFC because they did not realize that the Survivor they were chasing next to a hooked Survivor has left the area and they chased themselves for so long that the Feature triggered.

How dare you imply that these all people who know they're upper MMR because vibes could be wrong. Everyone knows that if you want to be upper MMR then you are. It's a wish-based system.

that's a fair point. the only challenge i have for this response is that there's still going to be circumstances where people will simply choose not to engage at all if not given an ability to escape their situation as part of the same psychological aspects you're talking about, and it's primarily because of the emotional aspect.

people don't like seeing themselves in a losing situation, period. it's worse when they're forced to confront it and they're the type of individual to try and avoid something like that at all costs. even if there's a way out via. in-game means, as long as they are still in what they consider a dead match, they have no reason to continue. i can see fast bleed-outs being beneficial and a potential countermeasure to this, but depending on how it's implemented, a player may intentionally get themselves slugged so they have access to a "legal" way of leaving the match like they would with intentionally dying or throwing a game in general.

i think the issue is less so the features and the game, but instead an individual-specific issue. you can't patch out emotions or the human ego unfortunately.

The bleedout would have to have triggers. Maybe a 30s timer before you can start it, or when someone is slugged for the 4k. That would end that concept, since bleedouts aren't kills and the killer wouldn't want to risk the loss, so they'd hook. As it is, you can just abandon when you've been downed a few times, which is crazy. People are doing it my matches when there's sabos in play and I can't pick them up. I had a pair recently in a match abandon with almost no one having been hooked and 5 gens still up, because they kept trying to sabo and I kept downing them.

When they first mentioned the surrender option, they had said something along the lines that there would be big rewards for toughing out the match instead of using the feature. Whatever those were meant to be, they didn't seem to happen. There needs to be some satisfaction gained from matches you can't win.

But if the abandon option wasn't screwing up personal stats and MMR I would be less mad about it.

actually the abandon option was designed to prevent survivors being needlessly humped for 4min. it was designed as a way to get out of a hopeless situation instead of having time wasted for no reason. The abandon option has been used far beyond what it was designed to do. Now its used as a skip 5 to 10 seconds of mori (dont see why killer cant have abandon to skip 5 to 10 seconds of hitting people out the gate, thats what survivor currently have). Also used as a free go next. one throws, the team quickly finds out whats happening and decides "this match is a bust" and they all throw…when all downed or hooked all abandon, go next penalty free. i have seen players stand by and watch as team mates drop then last player runs out not to help the team mates but gets downed intentionally just to abandon.

My point is the abandon option was designed to let players out of a hopeless match where all are downed, saving them 4min. It has been used far beyond its purpose which is why so many killer feel they should either get the same choice or the survivor side abandon needs to be reworked.

That's kinda what I said? I just think there's more psychological aspects to it. Getting humped for four minutes or 4-man slugged isn't just a time waster, it's a morale killer. The faster you get away from it, the more likely you are to queue up again. Everything is about retaining engagement. Saying it's entitlement or favoritism is just silly.

I don't think there should be any abandon options so I'm not advocating for either the ones we have or any new ones. I still get humped/bled out for 4 minutes and I just accept it, but I'd like to see in-game solutions, like fast bleedouts or self-recovery. I don't want any more reasons for abandons.

For me Tunneling isnt an issue. Only on ghoul and blight who can come back to hook too quickly and requires great coordination to beat. Otherwise you can just take the meta perks and be a good looper. If you want to beat the meta then you gotta play meta. Sadly the way dbd is at higher level. Then the tunnel will actually be detrimental to the killer, if he doesnt get the fast down.

You're holding people to a high skill-level standard. A brand new killer can easily tunnel. A brand new survivor cannot just bring meta and loop well. The problem is average killers are not equal to average survivors in what they can pull off.

  • @Junylar said:

There is an undeniable objective proof that DbD is indeed survivor sided: the abandon mechanic.

Survivors get to abandon whenever they are outplayed. The killer has no such luxury. The killer only gets to abandon if he wins and all the survivors already abandoned before him. Otherwise, the killer has to endure whatever humiliation survivors decide to throw at him, including the two minutes of teabagging at the gates, while survivors can even skip the mori animation, because of their high survivor privilege. If this is not a survivor-sided mechanic, then I don't know what is.

Two minutes? If you go hide in the basement and cry, sure, but you can just push them out in seconds. That isn't the case if a killler is humping you to death for 4 minutes.

Also, you could argue the opposite. Survivors get to leave matches more because they lose matches more (which is a statistical fact) and want to move on faster. I hate the abandon feature but I'm pretty sure it's there to make survivors hop into another game faster instead of getting annoyed with their 5th mori of the session and logging off instead.

Excuse Them? You buy something, it should work. End of story. Stop with this equivocation and broad generalizations. I have bought eevery killer. I cant reliably play every killer because they didnt bug test. Now they want me to bug test for them. What on earth is so hard about this to understand? You want to be an intern that pays to work somewhere?!?!

It's a live service game. I'm not in the habit of making excuses for this company's ineptitude but you can't expect everything to be perfect all the time with a constantly evolving product. You bought every killer? Cool, that's new content constantly being added. If you want that endless new content, you have to accept they'll be hiccups. It's really not that big of a deal to help by pointing stuff out to them. Do they need to fix faster? Yeah, absolutely, but this is an attempt to gather data better and do that, because the forum bug reporting system is terrible.

  • I love glyphs but I'll just keep letting them appear in my matches until I land a good opportunity to do them. I'm not going out of my way too much or risking a match/my life for them.

  • It should tell you in the upper right corner when you load into a match.

Vecnas skeletons arent free hit because if he hits them he either used elevation to spawn them on survviors level making them uncrouchable or he used then right behind you so they spawned into your hitbox or he used them when you were in animation which is where every killer will hit you and you wont be able to doge it if they dont miss.

When you crouch and doge them he gets slowed for solid time and most of then times he uses them its near some pallet or window so its more common for survivor to rerach safety than getting that m1 (if that happens in open are no wonder he gets that m1 hit even after you doge his skeletons).

A free M1, not a skeleton hit. They crouch, I catch up, I hit them.

My advice for next time is to just play around the drone. It’s really easy to counter, you just crouch under the beam.

I want people to come to terms with her and start to enjoy her, and I think learning counters will help

I was injured and being hard tunnled off hook and this guy was just spamming drones the moment I got to anything usable. Crouching mid-chase gives me free hits as Vecna. It would have done it here too. Just that tiny slow down in your speed screws up your timing. This killer gets free Undetectable and free Hindered for doing pretty much nothing and that's obnoxius.

There's a certain group of killers with obsessive followings who I really don't like their kits (or how their players choose to play) and that looks unlikely to change if they keep playing in this manner, or if they aren't reworked.

I have got reports on exploit reports that state action have been taken.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4039360#Comment_4039360

Well you were lucky then. I am not talking about trying it out I am talking about people playing several matches in a row clearly abusing the bug and if you did that then clearly nobody reported you and you got lucky.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4039398#Comment_4039398

Action taken reports I got when reporting people abusing glitches or bugs.

But how do you prove intent? Most players probably don't even know there's a bug. Streetwise was part of my build when it was bugged because it was a regular perk for me. I had no idea how to activate the bug until after i took it off, when I saw people saying they were assuming everyone with it was cheating and reporting them. Not everyone running a bugged perk is exploiting it.

to be fair a common occurrence regardless of what the solo player does. part of the reason i play the way i do is because that situation was happening all too often. Not the griefing part, they play the match as normal, i would go for saves, take hits, give a hook state or 2 to take the pressure off but when their duo or trio are safe they dont risk themselves for the 1 random.

The opposite is also common. I'll gladly trade for a random who either did really well for the team or who was targeted by the killer. Plenty of parties out there will do the most for randoms. It's much easier to coordinate saves on a random too.

Just had a duo/duo match last night with a pair of juicers. They kept the killer busy, did the real work, and I got hooked in end game when all I did was gens. The other pair could have just left but one of them went for the save. The resulting chaos turned a 3 out into a 2 out with both duos loosing their other half, but that pair could have just left and they didn't.

  • Vecna it's like half a second. How do you crouch through a whole chase? It's not like you do one quick squat and the drones are instantly disabled.

And if the Vecna is running spellbook crouching is also useless.

Yes it is if you are intentionally exploiting a bug in the game. Accidental usage is not.

    How do you determine that?

  • It's all fun and games until a 3-man decides to grief you and leave you on hook then says "we were doing the gens like you wanted."

Still you dont think he feels better, maybe you have not full picture because you dont like the slaughtering strike but its not that bad and people that call it brainless dont get there are multiple warnings he will use it like slowing down with his knife in animation above his head (that knife shines so bright its impossible to miss) and his speed isnt that great its quite easy to react to it when you hold the pallet. He has instadowns for 1 minute but he has no mobility so he is easy to hide from and evade and loops even he is slightly boosted m1 (without evil incarnate mode where he has strike) he still doesnt feel op, just better because game is now more based on dash killers and everyone is just rushing everything but this course was decided many years ago.

I have enough of a picture just playing against the Strike version. It's not that you can't tell he's using it, it's that when he pops it in your face it's almost undodgeable. Unless you're running WoO and RNG blesses you with a zillion pallets then you're kinda screwed. If you compare an instadown that's almost impossible to not land to something like Pig or Wesker's dash attacks, which are super jukable and aren't even instadowns, it's seems pretty gross. I don't understand why everyone wants everything to be so easy now.

  • I've only played him with Scratched Mirror and Fragrant Tuft of Hair since the rework. I refuse to touch Slughtering Strike.

  • I would say with her recent resurfacing and me seeing more of her I still dislike her pretty severely. I had one yesterday that hard tunneled me out and just keep tossing drones up at every loop I went to, so all I could really do was hold W until I eventually got downed. Even when I thought I'd lost her when I was on death hook she was just undetectable. If that's the scuzzy playstyle I'm going to have to deal with then I'm not gonna like the killer.

Shes not my most hated though. That might be Twins, who I've also seen more of lately.

I can understand why some are some against. But I think it could work if tested properly. Considering survivor gets base speed and endurance. So I don’t see why killers can’t get a mini corruption?

Killers get bloodlust. Consider that the equivalent freebie for basekit BT. So what new presents do survivors get if killers get basekit Corrupt?
