I feel kind of bad because I technically played very toxic in the beginning without actually meaning to. I would hit people on the hook because I thought it took their health down faster. I camped because it made sense that someone would come for the survivor.

Hahaha I was like this too. I hit people on hook for no reason at all. It was just a thing to do. I camped as well and didn't understand people were unhooking themselves because of it. It makes me wonder how often you get people you think are being toxic but they're actually just new and clueless.

do you think i really give a damn. this guy silenced me for DARING to speak up and defend myself and have the unmitigated Gaul to say killers deserve a voice and we should be heard . oh im sorry for the high crime i committed for that . forgive me oh godly survivors .

Chill dawg. No one is persecuting you.

  • I've been camped into second/death quite a bit since they implemented the new system. I'm not sure what benefit there was to changing it, unless it was meant to benefit the killer.

That being said, I think a lot people don't realize that if your teammates are nearby, the meter doesn't fill. I wish that was somehow made clearer.

I would argue that players discussing why they've stopped playing the game as much, their experiences in playing the game contributing to that fact, and their frustrations at broken promises from the developers time and time again on the feedback forum for the game could not be more on topic or constructive.

Can't agree more. "Respectful" as a modifier to allow people to lose access to the forums gives free reign to individuals to just prune and ban with no line or rule to reference as it's completely subjective. Not something I would normally do but even chat gpt can't find how the post is being disrespectful.. snarky yes sarcastic yes

There might have been something here that's gone. The offending comment has often already been deleted when you see these messages from mods.

Maybe it was just the Gas Heaven maps or a bad string of random tile selection then. I was mainly playing those map showcase modes and really wasn't even seeing tiles that were particularly loopable besides just running around a stack of cars to squeeze a few more seconds out of a chase. I guess I could give things another chance but I'm dubious.

Blood Favor is ridiculous though. Killer complaints got most pallets turned into unsafe, stun only, party pallet equivalents and they can't even deal with that. A killer can literally just walk around them and get a hit, and they're still not worthless enough for them. Is there any survivor mechanic or resource a killer will not cheese, wait out, or otherwise negate via perk to where it may as well not exist in the game in the first place?

Some maps are defintely rough. Yamaoka is atrocious.

Yeah there's been a general uptick in anti-loop and anti-pallet. Bamboozle, Dissolution, Spirit Fury. It's kinda wild.

  • @MDRSan said:

I myself haven't really played much since the day or 2 after the patch dropped. After seeing the results of pushing those untested tile changes to live I'm pretty much done bothering with this game until the Winter event starts. Even then, it's just FOMO and not really wanting to play that'll be bringing me to matches.

With this new change they just didn't remove pallets, they changed the remaining ones to be completely unsafe and even updated tiles and buildings without pallets to be less loopable. I'm feeling very discouraged from playing any survivor matches after 9.3. Meanwhile I'm still 4King every killer match I've played. No one has even gotten hatch against me since the update dropped. Basically every match either has me feeling like I'm being steamrolled as a survivor or punching down as a killer. How am I supposed to find either scenario fun?

I've actually been doing surprisingly well as survivor. I think it's cause I already sucked at looping and there might as well be no pallets anyway lol

What's trash though is I've seen an uptick in anti-looping perks like Blood Favor. Like really guys, how easy must it be?

as you have previously pointed out, not all swf use comms. high mmr are the ones that are highly likely to use comms for an advantage so it does sort of prove that comms break the game to some extent.

It stands to reason that much of this involves comms. Most of my matches at least some people are on comms. Yet here are the numbers. SWF mostly does worse than solo. That's just a numbers fact, and it's because parties operate differently. The thing you'll never fully have in solo no matter how much communication you get is empathy for one another. My friends and I take hits for each orher, throw ourselves at the killers feet, die for the team. That sort of thing can earn you losses, but we generally care more about each other and the overall experience than personal escapes. This applies to every group I play with. The upper MMR players are the only outliers because they're completely different sorts of groups. They're win-focused and high skilled.

Even if SWF overperformed overall, the chat wheel won't turn solo into SWF. The players' motives will still be totally different.

  • @terumisan said:

no even though the average survivor is awful the game kinda breaks if survivor has communication like how swf almost has a 50% escape rate (unless they put out more stats that i missed)

    dbd-stats-q12025-survivorescaperates.png

Only 4mans and only in high MMR, and 48% is pretty underwhelming for the best players there are when you consider they're are killers with 90% KRs. Solo does better than duos, trios, and 4mans overall. SWF isn't as OP as people want it to be. At least half my time in survivor has been in at least a duo and I have a 40.31% ER.

  • Sure, but then give survivors basekit info on which gens are being worked so they can try to mitigate the damage their randomly assigned teammates with no gameaense are doing.

When they first announced a surrender option, I thought it would be an in-game thing, like I could run up to the killer and stab myself in the throat or use a spell to summon the Entity for an end game timeout-style death

I always thought it would be cool, if any kind of proper concede option was introduced for killers, that it would be something like chanting at a shrine to the entity in the basement or something. That would actually go kinda sick with any kind of idea that would do something like reclosing doors or ejecting survivors. But I like that idea, any type of surrender option goes best with an animation, even if they're just something goofy.

Yeah just something engaging that's part of the game. I'd really like more magic in the game as well. I love hex/blessed totems and invocations, even if I rarely engage with them myself. I want more like that.

The survivor can skip the mori because the survivor already had the abandon option for a long time already. Mechanically speaking, its quite hard to disable the abandon ability. It's not suddenly the survivor gaining the abandon feature. And to be fair, so what? The game is literally going to end the same way for you at that point. Either way you will have the mori, the only difference is that the survivor isnt watching the mori with you (in which case, why do you care that the other player has to watch your mori?)

For killers, the moment survivors are able to unhook a teammate in the case the killer is camping his 1k, they are going to abandon, despite it being possible to still turn the situation around and gain a kill (survivors dont always pick the best pathing, I've seen many people die after we managed to unhook someone and were in a situation to basically guarantee a 4 man out, yet someone decided dropping a weak pallet and vaulting it twice was a good idea, they cant abandon when the other 3 survivors escape normally).

So at what point do you introduce the abandon feature for killers without effectively removing 10-20% of the game? With survivors, most abandon options dont matter. You would always pick them up for hooks anyway, or you would always bleed them out. You would always have to mori. And even in the few other cases where abandon appears when IMO it shouldnt but because there are edge cases, the survivor gets replaced with a bot and you still get to play and none of the gameplay gets removed or impacted much untill 2+ survivors were able to abandon (in fact, the bots can be harder to deal with than the real players)

I can understand survivors camping in the exitgate, but then at what point do you introduce it? They could be healing inside the exitgate for a multitude of reasons, perhaps going back to rescue their teammate on a hook, but you're a killer who does have the capability to down survivors if they are slightly too far removed from the exitgate. And even if they do manage to implement that, the same survivors who now edgecamp the exitgate, would just slightly stand outside the exitgate so you cant abandon.

It is functionally impossible to add in an abandon feature for the killer on top of the current ones, because the killer always has agency. All survivor abandon options are because they remove player agency. Even the slugging 3 times exists, because basekit endurance doesnt exist on pickup.

And to be fair, so what? The game is literally going to end the same way for you at that point. Either way you will have the mori, the only difference is that the survivor isnt watching the mori with you

They aren't just skipping an animation though. It makes a difference internally. When you abandon, you don't get a death on your personal stats despite losing. As far as anyone can tell (based on the limited info we've been given) you also don't lose MMR, and the killer doesn't gain any from you. You've basically removed yourself from the match entirely and left a blank void behind. The function is quietly throwing matchmaking and data out of whack.

All survivor abandon options are because they remove player agency.

This isn't always true. I've had bots use Deliverance to hop off the hook or use Unbreakable to get up before I could hook them. Some people just can't be bothered to keep trying even when there are still options.

  • I guess it is a hot take because almost everyone seems to utilize it. It's rare in a killer match that I win that someone doesn't abandon. I recently tracked my stats and 21% of my opponenets abandoned. That was likely almost everyone who the option even showed up for.

When they first announced a surrender option, I thought it would be an in-game thing, like I could run up to the killer and stab myself in the throat or use a spell to summon the Entity for an end game timeout-style death. But just leaving the match sucks, and it deleting the loss from your stats sucks even more.

Even in valid scenarios I rarely touch it. I got humped by a Ghostface for over three minutes recently and just tolerated it. Also had a Twins slug me for the 4k and leave me that way until seconds were left. I'd much rather an in-game reaction to crap like that instead of a match-deletion option.

I wouldn't even necessarily say it's "catering to the demands of one side while ignoring the other". I am against the abandoning system as it is, and not in favour of expanding it further. I'm not all that invested into the whole 'let's make this equal' debate.

My point is that it's a luxury that should never have been granted to any side.

I agree. Even before learning how much the abandon system was screwing up stats and MMR, I didn't use the option. I don't like the idea of just leaving a match that's not over. I'd rather a faster bleedout for really toxic slugging situations than the abandon. That would also pressure killers to hook instead of slug and risk losing the kill. I'm exhausted with the boring finisher moris like you wouldn't believe but I still put up with them because it's part of the match.

For those who don't know, in the old Advent calendars, EVERY YEAR there were "ugly sweaters" for the new survivors released that year. The ugly sweaters free were also for the licensed characters; in fact, I'm sure I received Cheryl's sweater as a gift at Christmas.

Kind of a smart tactic. Give free cosmetics for licensed characters in order to encourage people to buy the character.

I understand what you point is here.

I try to bring Killer away from tunneling by their own choice not by force. Does that make sense to you?

If you get the feeling of the choice that you could take these perks and they fit more of you playstyle to play the not so effeicient way to go for hooks over Kills, than I really think many players would go this way.

Ofcourse we can force the Killers away till everyone has to play the exact same way. But I am afraid this will kill the game for real.

A similar discussion recently happened here:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/461171/disable-pain-res-if-a-survivor-is-dead-at-4-5-gens/p1

In which I brought up a recent trio of matches where I was hard tunneled out and posted the killers' perks. Not one regress or token perk was present. The only gen perk was one Corrupt, and that's instavalue. It was primarily chase based. Token perks just aren't being used by this type of player.

Maybe you think buffing token perks would make people use them and tunnel less? That's a maybe. But I think you'd have to also make it so certain chase perks like Enduring, Bamboozle, Blood Favor, Dissolution, and Spirit Fury deactivate if you enter chase with the previously unhooked survivor. If you're going to buff perks that already encourage spreading hooks, you should also nerf the ones tunnelers use the most (if they're actively tunneling).

  • @Leon_van_Straken said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4035324#Comment_4035324

Thats what I said. If you go into the match with the mindset I will go tunnel you take other perks. So these perks should be more rewarding if you don´t tunnel and less overkill if you do.

But if they're already not using those perks, what's the point of changing their features? It would mostly just be a straight buff if everyone who tunnels drops the perks.

  • Most of the hard tunnelers I encounter don't use perks like this. Why would they? The unique hook token system is already at odds with their methods. The 3v1 is it's own anti-gen.

  • I don't miss the tombstone instakills, but I really don't like slaughtering strike either. I'd like that aspect adjusted a bit.

  • @Just_a_Normal_Guy said:

And In what does it nullify what I've said? You can actually read? Last patch was ass to play anyone that needed a "normal" chase to get a hook. As Oni all I was seeing was people mindlessly dropping the nearest pallet and instantly running to the next. By the time I got a hit and my power, It'd be 2-3 gens popping, unless I got a lucky hit in someone who was in a bad spot without pallets, wich was rare since most of the times survivors start hearing your heartbeat and pre-run, even today.

And as any other killer I had barely 2 perks to use since brutal and/or endure was mandatory as I'd be munching pallets all day.
The only thing you're doing is showing how little you understand of the killer role my man.
As I've said, you guys will eventually get everything that you want, Nurses and Blights all matches.

So you're mad about people complaining about low-skill Ghoul players and you're complaining about low-skill Sprint Bursters? Ironic. The pallets were no issue for me as killer and I wasn't running anti-pallet perks, so let me redo that quote of yours:

You guys cry way too much here, but calling a survivor "low-skilled" is easier than owning up your unwillingness to learn how to play the game.

  • I don't understand why I hear so much about bully squads in this forum. My understanding is that it's a group that keeps their MMR low on purpose in order to terrorize new and inexperienced players. I'm not a fan of assuming MMR but I'd guess most people here have some time in the game and aren't bottom MMR. I myself haven't come across anything like this since I was new and I'm a mediocre player.

However, I do come across hyper-aggressive teams. Had one yesterday. Three flashlight users. A blend of flashbangs, blast mine, background player, and head on. The fourth was a gen jockey. It was a hard won 4k but I didn't feel bullied. Is it really a bully squad, or are people calling any aggressive, coordinated teams bullies just because they're not running in terror at the sight of the killer?

We are talking about a company which charges for:

    The game

    Characters

    Perks

    Riftpasses

and you think they won´t sell a premium login pass because it is a bad for their publicity?

I got the game for free. I wait for perks from the Shrine. The Rift you can buy once and just recycle your shards and get it endlessly. You don't have to spend a lot to get a lot. But for something that used to be free? I don't think that would go well. You want people to login and play everyday. That's the point of free incentives. People were mad as hell about the quality dip in the current Rift, for example, and that was paid. If it wasn't for the recycling I never would have gotten it. I doubt many people converted actual money to get this Rift. If they did a paid December thing, they'd have to knock it out of the park, and that seems unlikely right now.

Well but this is far away from the normal game loop if you need a perk a chased survivor and killer heading to your direction and deciding to loop around your specific locker for another 15 seconds.

It happens to me enough because I use lockers for my perk every match, and lockers are often at tiles. As long as we have perks where you have to spend a certain amount of time in a locker this would be too punishing.

  • @Leon_van_Straken said:

Yeah the thing is they could.

What I am afraid of is the following and mark my words for the following Winter Event

"Since the player feedback has been mostly negative we decided to remove the login rewards for this event."

I have seen this in so many games when they try to cut out "free stuff". Give less and less and then say its fault of the ungrateful community. But "Hey you can get this new login premium pass for 1000 aura cells"

Thats where I think this will lead.

Seems like a good way for a company to shoot themsleves in the foot.

  • @Leon_van_Straken said:

    Do crows still exist?

It´s has been a long time since I saw them.

Just let them appear faster on lockers. No one can convince me that standing longer than 30 seconds in a locker is a regular play against the Killer.

The time they take to generate was recently reduced. I got one the other day just from stopping to respond to some trash talk from my previous match. And I haven't had one since they were overtuned.

Also, there's been times when I'm in a locker using BtL and a chase comes my way and people are just looping around me. I can't just get out in some short time frame.

  • I'm lucky to only see a Ghoul maybe every 50-100 matches, but when I do, it's infuriating. They're the worst players I ever go against and they still often win.

But yeah, I also refuse to play as either of these two. I have no plans to even unlock them.

Don´t Starve Together gives a daily free Skin since yeaers so it must be better than Siege?

I understand you, the free stuff isn´t that great and even got worse but they don´t have to give something for free at all.

Screaming that this is unfair will most likely get it completly removed instead of improved.

The issues is the continous decline in what they give year by year, event by event. It's especially aggravating after the last few months of broken promises, failed efforts, and bugs galore. They could at least give out some goodies to quell anger and get people reengaged.

  • Can we get an updated updated roadmap? Because so far this has been a road to nowhere.

  • Until the feature stops messing up stats and MMR, we don't need anymore abandon options.

  • I'm really eager for whatever this will be. Might encourage me to finally p100 my killers instead of endlessly dumping BP into my already p100 survivor. If I'm gonna get dunked on for getting a 0k with a p100 I at least need some trinkets to soften the blows.

  • @KhrisCo said:

I think more killers are leaving the game than survivors. It's become so extremely unfun to play as killer.

Why? All anti-cheese efforts have been cancelled and pallets and medkits have been nerfed. What more is needed? Four minute gens?

  • This is pretty player specific. A cracked flashlight user vs a killer without Lightborn can decide a match. I had one yesterday where a friend got two saves on me in a row then pallet stunned another save. Killer DCed. On the flipside, I have a couple friends who always bring flashlights yet never seem to get saves, and they are pretty much guaranteed to get slugged. Flashlights, to me, are better for party players on comms, where you can communicate your tactics, and you also know what to expect.

But soloqing also means you're signing up for a match where everyone might do whatever they please. If flashlights tilt you, dodge.

  • @Ghostofsnow said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/4034603#Comment_4034603

i never said all slugging, i said excessive slugging over 3 minutes and it sounds awful that some think that's okay to possibly happen to 4/5 players. Also the abandon feature only happens after everyone is slugged so doesn't even change the slugging for the 4k slog at all for anyone involved except the other two players leaving instantly after the fact and the killer now having to hook/mori bots to complete the match no one is even watching anymore.

slugging 4 people can also happen if the killer is camping a body, there is no info indicator this is happening and can be stupid effective with high lethality ones.

i really don't see how you group 3minute slugging with base slugging and not excessive types. I even proposed interactions to it like the anti slug wouldn't build if near a pallet or a standing survivor within range to avoid even the possibility of it getting abused or a killer not having a chance to pick up a survivor unless they are willfully neglecting the hooks.

i don't think an anti slug feature is unreasonable, just make it REALLY hard to have happen.

I really don't know how anyone can be against this and think it's okay to leave someone on the ground for minutes. I don't engage with the abandon feature (and won't as long as it continues to screw up stats and MMR) so that often has me down for long periods, often while getting BMed. I'm sure everyone who's played a good amount of survivor has also come across griefing killers wo only slug and never hook. That garbage needs to stop.

  • Crazy. Inflation is even hitting imaginary currencies.

But this is exactly why I've been amassing shards for the last month or two. I'm getting those ugly sweaters for free y'all.

I think the worst part is believing in it, "Oh finally BHVR is gonna do something that is going to make all those bad games we had over the many years to make the game have less bad games in the future" and then getting thoroughly disappointed while "the other side" is currently tunneling to their hearts content. Gleefully that the "survivor mains" could not get any changes through to limit their ability to crush Survivors in any meaningful way.

So we ended up with a rise in bad games, to say this is frustrating is selling it short. You should call it a travesty.

But yes, a fair try at doing it is always appreciated, but even a bandaid fix would have been better than the increase in tunneling. I guess its moderately more difficult to Camp now… I guess.

After being camped into second for two matches in one night a few days ago I can confirm it's still easy.

And yeah. I agree. The disappoint of constant walkbacks is the issue. It's more crushing than just doing nothing.

  • I don't know how you could not want this. I could see people spamming it stupidly or trolling with it but that's a minimal issue for how much it would help.

Maybe you're not as much of a noob as you think but your MMR is too high for you to keep up with. Try making some different builds that focus on problem areas, like an anti-loop build or a full aura build. Experimenting with specific and niche builds has gotten me good results.

  • Soloq sucks so I don't know what to recommend there. Maybe put on meme perks and be a clown I don't even know anymore tbh

For killer, what is it that you're struggling with. Like, why do you think it's going poorly for you? Are you facing difficult teams? Not finding people fast enough? Getting stunned or juiced?

  • There are a number of killers i wish would get adjustments for controller/console. I have a pretty good shot in shooters. In this game. I can't hit a bot that's standing still. Even non-ranged killers are an issue. I recently got Vecna and I am comically bumbling the spell wheel selections. Every time I try to hit the mage hand I hit fly, then I just fly into a pallet. Super embarrassing lol.

It would be nice to have more clarity and communication about how feedback is considered, and whether or not hyperbolic overreactions push more severe changes/reverts, because that's currently how it feels from the outside.

  • Fog vials

Fog vials were the beginning of a sharp downturn in my attitude towards this game. For the first time in awhile, I had changed my perks and and my playstyle and was having a ton of fun. They were a mid item, and both the positive and negative reactions (annoying vs fun) were also mid. And they were blasted into uselessness, just like that. It's hard for me to shake my bitterness towards such an extreme reaction, especially when things only seem to get worse. The irony is that we keep trying new anti-cheese ideas and fog vials were a potentially good anti-tunnel tool.

    Pallets

I really didn't have much to say about the pallet density increase. Neither my survivor matches nor my killer ones were affected, and I was mostly playing as Dredge during this time. I was actually pretty baffled by the intensity of the response ("all M1 killers are POWERLESS") and I really do wonder if KRs saw any true dip.

So now here we are with an opposite issue of not enough pallets. I loaded into Yamaoka as killer last night and watched a Rebecca try to wrap around a bunch of free-standing rocks, having zero resources to work with. There was nothing she could do at all the game just handed it to me, and I'm tired of being made to feel pity for my opponents becuase of RNG and bad decisions.

    Killer balance

Blight and Nurse are issues but they do at least take some skill to use. Ghoul is a different and bigger problem. I'm blessed to rarely seem him but--no offense to anyone who likes him--when I do, these are often the worst, most skill-less players I go against. They often bring cheap perks to exploit his already overtuned kit, can't loop or mind game, whiff like crazy, use cheese tactics, and get 4ks while playing like straight trash. I considered getting him once upon a time because he does seem fun, but he's such a disgraceful and shameful pick now that I'd be embarrassed to do so. The fact that he's still so overtuned proves he must still be making money, because there's no other reason to keep such a miserable and hated element intact for this long.

    Feedback

Whatever method they use to gather and process feedback is not working. They seem to listen to the biggest and loudest voices, and much of the narrative is pushed by popular CCs. Even in the forum, a place that should be for discussion, you have these dump-and-run video posts of some streamer blathering on for an hour. If you play this game, you shouldn't need anyone to tell you how to feel about it. Form your own opinons. For this reason, feedback should be gathered in a more sterile way, not from random anon usernames screaming on the internet. It should link to your BHVR account. It does make some sense, as they want these streamers to keep selling the game, but just how many times do they need to post a video called "This patch will kill dbd" before BHVR stops listening?

People like to doompost about players quitting but people are still playing, even the unhappy ones, and new ones are always arriving.  We may not see a serious effort for postive change and impreovemt until they truly do loose players.  Problem is, once the hemmorage gets that severe, it will be too late. No matter how balanced or polished you make the game, no matter how good the fixes, people that are fed up are not likely to come back. If I were to get to the point of annoyance where I fully stop playing, I sure wouldn't.

  • I don't tunnel as killer or use flashlights as survivor. It has yet to make people treat me any better.

Honestly as someone who has played since 2016 I feel very disconected with all this queue time talk, like outside of times were 2v8 is there I barely notice the queue times, like I remember before we had like 10 min queues, like I dont see the problem now.

Yeah same. I'm pretty tired of everyone trying to use queue times as a way to push which ever narrative they prefer. It's a boring tactic, and it's one of those things, much like DCs, that BHVR has data on and no amount of trying to invent a problem is going to override what they have in front of them.

  • It's done nothing noticeable for me yet. I'm either getting hit right off hook or the killer is busy/spreading hooks, so it's irrelevant both ways. I haven't been affected as killer by it, but the matches I've had since the update haven't had any endgame camping stand-offs.

So when something inevitably goes wrong every dbd hater will grift and say they should have just released content even though they asked for this?

Dbd has the most fickle fanbase
