Stat-wise, it's Dredge at about 80%. I used to enjoy playing as him but against good survivors he's rough. I wish they'd fix the locker spawns and maybe get rid of the locks on them. Other killers have a less punishing teleport, and on some maps there are multiple gens with no lockers even nearby. Badham is pretty much an autoloss.
-
People love to say DS but the stun is so short now it's pretty much useless againt killers like Henry. I had a teammate use it the other day and as soon as he recovered he hit or with a vine attack and she went down again. Bought her about 3 seconds. That and aura has been huge on him. You try to Lithe away and he just picks you up with I'm All Ears or follows you and looks for you healing with Nurse's Calling. Elusive off-hook making it out of the ptb would have helped a bit.

Yeah and those people think they are so special and funny bc they screw their teammates over. There are plenty of games with the goal to betray, but people who do it in "normal" games are just weird.
Then they say its just a game, but that also applies to many outdoor hobbies. It would be like playing football and your goal is to kick the ball over a fence, so the others get screwed over. Nobody would think thats acceptable.
Trolling friends is one thing, yeah, cause everyone is in on it, but I'd never even think to do something like this to some poor random, especially when they've probably been helping me all match. It's kind of unfathomable, to be this much of a silent bully for no reason at all.
-
And people wonder why people go next, with teammates like this.
-
I was once saved by a flashlight. It's possible but very unlikely. I don't know why people even bother.
-
The general playerbase isn't upset about aggressive plays against aggressive players. There's a big difference between double hooking someone using their BT to body block and hard tunneling a random survivor at 5 gens who is just trying to run away.
-
I played 9 survivor matches last night and 3 were against Henry. He's out there.
I think a lot of people tried him and quickly dropped off. It doesn't help that he's much harder on controller. I've been playing as him though and he's helping me mellow out. I'd been going too hard as killer the last few months, but landing his vine attack is so satisfying I'm not so worried about winning much. He's becoming my zen killer.

Not saying that the mentality is a justified one to have, but over dbd's ten years of existence, the game's pacing has been constantly creeping to a nature of whoever gets the better start is almost guaranteed to win. Back in the day, dbd matches used to almost always flip flop between survivors having the upper hand, to killers, and then back to survivors and so on.
The game simply isn't like that anymore, and I think the players realise this. Again, I'm not saying that this is a justified mentality to have, because a match certainly can be turned around in a lot of cases, but the chaotic nature dbd used to have really isn't a thing anymore, and so a bad outlook for the match's conclusion is going to be pretty demoralising, for both survivors and killers.
This is exactly it and it's why more comeback mechanics are needed. You can often tell a match is lost a minute in. It's not exactly great for morale, especially when it happens over and over and over, and there's zero hope of recovery.
What I don't understand is that the same people who wanted the anti-cheese canceled are the ones complaining about DCs. People should stick around and suffer but they shouldn't have any chance at winning.
-
Ngl i had no idea you could circumvent it. I encounter it so infrequently, and I almost never walk through pallets while carrying , so I don't even think about.
Had a bot use it against me the other day though, which was a bit of a ego gut punch.

seems like ur doing well then, u talk like 55% is bad, what do u want 80%? if u had 80% then what about the top players? 500000%?
60% is fine with me but if I was up against the top survivor teams exclusively it would be like 5%

When I play survivor, I’d rather have harder opponents if it also means better teammates, 100%. Going against bad killers is still miserable when teammates don’t know how to play or give up immediately the first time they get downed. This is all about the incentive to try to play well so you’ll be paired with better teammates in the next match.
I don’t buy the “false positives” arguments. Good survivors that can take killers on long chases will still get scored better for playing well even if they get eliminated early. That’s the whole point of the system I’m proposing. Getting tunneled out early wouldn’t be nearly as discouraging if you still get rewarded for playing well. But that's not what happens. I get good killers when I play survivor and I still get bad teammates.
By what criteria is the game going to reward you for when you were tunneled out by a p100 Blight two minutes into the match? It would likely recognize that as bad playing and dock you. What if your teammates leave you on the hook and you finish the match with 5k points? Will there be extra punishment for that? I've said many times the MMR should be judged on more than just wins and losses, but automatic MMR deductions based on things that are high context would be a disaster.

Everyone knows he's going to respond with basekit BT as a gotcha, and then also ask "WhAt dO kILlErS GeT?" as if they aren't the power role and have way more impactful basekit macro decisions than one survivor can dream to have with 4 perks.
Please tell me how basekit BT breaks the game when the killer is proxy camping on any dash killer, collects a free hit on the unhooker, and then tunnels the unhooked survivor to another hook state. No perks required for that strategy on killer by the way.
Pretty much daily here someone mentions the endless array of comebacks survivors have yet when I ask what they are I never seem to get an answer.

Neither are good for the game. Both DCs and intentionally tanking in matches should be punished. I am not advocating for either of these things, but you are advocating for the former.
DCs should be punished with matchmaking bans like they already are (they should be even worse, IMO), and intentionally tanking in the game should be punished by giving you a big penalty to MMR so you get paired with worse and worse teammates the more you tank. This is why the MMR system so desperately needs to be changed. Incentivize people to stay in doomed matches by increasing MMR for playing well (eg survivors taking killers on long chases, killers getting more hits and hooks even if all survivors escape, etc).
You're saying "increase MMR" as though it's a blessing. Higher MMR means harder opponenents. I'm not personally out here looking to raise my MMR beyond what I can handle as a "reward." Give people potential in-game comeback mechanics, give them BP or shard increases, but MMR increases are not a reward.
Same with MMR reduction. You want to tank people until they get to baby levels? That also means worse opponenets and easier matches. Go play on a fresh account and tell me that's a punishment. It's only a punishment for your opponents.
Also, the game trying to auto-disngtiush genuinely bad playing from intentionally bad playing would be impossible without tons of false positives. People already complain about getting penalties for being tunneled too fast. Do we just want everyone to quit the game because of more unfair punishments?

If people were able to freely DC, it would literally happen every match. I almost want BHVR to trial this for like 2 weeks so all the pro-DCers can see how miserable it will be. Killers would DC any match they aren’t dominating in, and every survivor would DC the instant they get downed the first time. I can’t even begin to understand why some people here think this would be a good thing for the game.
There was a several-day period, maybe 8 months ago, where there were no DC penalties. It was well known. I saw no uptick in DCs. "Every survivor" isn't a fair statement. I've never once DCed as survivor. It's either the sort of thing you'll do or not, regardless of penalty.
As it is now, you can just AFK under hook or run up to the killer to die, which is much worse for the match than having a bot. I'd rather have a bot that will do gens, heal, and unhook than someone who will suicide out or go rat in a corner. How are those things good for the game?
-
Did.…Did you just say gens take too long to do then say they need a 30s increase?

As i recall, some of the arguments were that they need to be able to engage with their chat and they can't if they're going against difficult opponents. Another was that they go easier on their opponents if they can tell they're not that good, and if they had opponents on their level then they'd have no choice but to go hard. So basically the feedback had nothing to do with the health of the game, just how it impacts them personally.
Solution: engage with the chat and lose. Crazy to ask for easy matches so you can give it half your attention AND win.
-
ThIs is why I'd rather people be able to freely DC. I'd rather have a bot than a detriment.

no unhook notification and Elusive would’ve helped tremendously in the average game. gives the survivor at least a fighting chance to evade the killer without it being used offensively.
Though I think this would have been a great effort, I also think we would have see a ton more camping, as well as people intentionally triggering the anti-camp to encourage the survivor to unhook so they could tunnel them without losing LoS. People will find a way to ruin anything if they're so inclined. Would have been worth testing though.
-
The extra 5s is the saddest consolation price for canceling all the anti-cheese from the ptb that they could have given. And you can still get kills if you play it right, you just can't brainlessly camp the hook and get it for free. You actually have to think and try to stop the save or pursue the other players. Not sure why people think they're entitled to a free kill after doing bad all match anyway.
-
Only thing I'm annoyed by is maps. I see a lot of different survivor builds with different purposes. I see a lot of different killers, and I play as a lot of different, non-S tier killers without any gen regress perks. If you don't like the meta then don't use it yourself.
Same survivors though? Like the same characters?
-
-
They honestly don't feel like they do anything anymore, even what they're supposed to do. There's a tiny gap in scratch marks that's barely worth mentioning, I don't feel like they have much affect against aura read anymore, and you can see people right through them. It's as if they continue to get worse except for on like three maps.
-
It's been this way. Abandons show as escapes on the stat tracker. The match is nullified on the survivor end when they hit abandon. The kills still show on your own stats. It doesn't affect the killer's personal stats in any way. As far as anyone can tell though, you don't gain MMR from the remaining bot and the survivor's don't lose any even though they lost.
It's been talked about a lot here but there's been no indocation they'll fix how abandons show up, or how they artificially inflate personal survivor stats and mess up MMR.

dude, are you screwing with me??? Survivors have so many second chances it’s unbelievable!
But still the bottom line is “entitlement”. Survivor running a meta build, gets out played, first hook, them dc. Then the rest dc.There needs to be harsher punishments for dcing just because the match isn’t going your way. Same with killers in that regard.
You clicked play, so did the other players. You knew what you signed up for. Deal with what you get rather than be a big baby.
What non-perk, basekit second chances do survivors have?
What mechanics help survivors come back when one is tunneled out at 5 gens?
Why do survivors tend to DC more than killers?

what issues?? The fact that I out played someone at shack with huntress and they dc?
Let’s stop beating around the bush the majority of ppl quitting is bc the game doesn’t go their way. Not punishing those ppl doesn’t help player retention bc w t f wants to play against bots or with them? Not me nor the next guy.
People are probably DCing because of built-up frustrations. You don't DC cause you're perfectly happy except for one little thing going wrong. In basically all my killer matches that have a DC, the match was already mine. That's the big issue, the hopeless point that the survivor side gets to—sometimes very quickly—and now you're stuck running around in circles with no hope of a comeback. Killer always has a chance at a comeback. I've won matches where I've had one hook. Survivor has no such hope. You can't even hope for hatch since the killer will probably slug for the 4k. There's a reason survivors tend to DC more than killers.
Not everyone minds bots. I had a match today where all 4 people ended up leaving once the match was hopeless and it was just me and their 4 bots—so I finished the match with the bots. I don't need my opponenets as an audience to witness my win. They already knew. That's why they left.

Killer is easier than survivor in every level of the game.
Top tier SWF = Top tier killers.
There is literally no other 'end game' that can be had.
If going against SWF is something that isn't desirable by a killer, stop tunneling, play normally, lose til you get to your skill level, and play :) Everyone will have a better time, yourself included.
Or don't. Stay inflated, continue getting slain, and continue blaming any and everything but yourself.
No no no, you don't get it. These are The Greatest Players Who Ever Lived. When they lose, its entirely because the game is unbalanced and broken. It's not their fault, ever.
It is your fault when you get tunneled, slugged, and camped though. That's different.

Don't stress, it'll be fixed in 3 to 5 business years. Until then, you'll be on this map every third match.

I haven't said it was only effective in coordinated teams. I said is so strong that in coordinated teams killers don't stand a chance against it. Two Solo with toolboxes can still be quite a challenge if the team is not completely bad.
Also, we need to nerf things if they are broken in coordinated teams, specially if they are only strong IN COORDINATION.
BNPs were once broken. They are not any more. They're just useful. I bring a toolbox and BNPs are like my 5th choice for an add-on. What is with this endless desire to nerf survivor when also crying anytime they receive anything? Does everything have to be abysmally weak?

I checked the in-game mail I received & it said I already took the survey despite using the link from this thread.
Does the survey think we're all just one person now?
I took it from my phone and it still recognized it as I having already taken it when I opened it again. Maybe because we're doing it from a device that also has us logged into our BHVR accounts so it recognized who we were?

We don't need to nerf everything survivor has because of a minority of players coordinating. I've never once gone up against 4 BNPs, nor have I ever coordinated them with a group.

ngl when this kinda thing happens to a game I think its more of a sign of its coming end.
I have noticed that people DC a ton more lately used to mainly be survs but now it also happens with killers a lot too and I don't think any shiny new toy is going to fix it.
Its like the level of burnout is reaching its peak with the community and coming of the worst year this game had I can see why.
I think a DBD2 with a whole new overhaul is the only chance to fix everything.
I keep a notebook spreadsheet of my games and one of the things I mark down is DCs. I've had almost none lately, even less than usual. I don't know why everyone's experience with this seems to vary. I don't really play as hated killers though, so that might be why. I'm sure the Ghoul players see something very different than I do.
I also get booted from the server a lot when I play killer, like maybe every 15 games, and it often shows me as the one that disconnected with 0 points, so the survivors probably thought I DCed. I recently had a solo survivor match vs Pig. One by one my teammates DCed until it was just me within 20s of the match starting. The Pig and I were running around terrorizing the bots together and then I got the server disconnect. I'd assumed my teammates had quit because they didn't like the killer but it might have been a server issue since I got booted too. You never really now the whys of everything.
But I do agree the burnout is bad. I'm feeling it too, as are many people I play with. Quite a fee have quit entirely too.
-
My killer matches have been full of these people as well. Very often, they'll intentionally set off loud noise notifications to get me to come right to them and engage immediately. It's certainly not how I approach survivor, but I also think it's weird to take it personal. If you don't take a killer stomping you personal why do you take a survivor pointing and nodding personal? What's the difference? Are they supposed to act like they're scared of you?

I've seen that come up so many times but never how. There's nothing to devs can do to fix the players mentality without destroying the games balance when players will D/C for any reason you can think of.
There's an awful lot of people who seem to think they know exactly why everyone DCs. BHVR can send out surveys on it and get real info and try to address it if they think it's truly an issue. But just upping punishments against people who are already unhappy isn't going to solve a single problem. It's just going to make people quit completely. And I know that's something people also like to say they want, but if people who play regularly are burnt out and aggravated to the extent they regularly DC it would be smarter from a business perspective to find out the actual whys and try to address them if they're consistent.
That is, if this really is a big issue. We seem to need one of these posts evey 3-7 days here but I personally see little to no DCs in my matches, and when I do, I don't really care. As killer, I couldn't care less if the whole team becomes bots. It's just one match out of however many with no DCs. As survivor, bots are more efficient than half the people in soloq.
It also doesn't help that every attempt to address survivor complaints has been shot down, creating even more resentment and discontent.

It seems it's now even allowed on this forum to openly insult people who voted for the other girl, as we can see in this thread. Not surprising, considering the old woman was the devs' pick. But at least now we see exactly what kind of people are going to play as her, and why it's completely justified to always tunnel and never heal/save whoever will play her.
You continue to insist the vote was rigged and now you want players to be targeted/griefed for playing a character and you wonder why you're catching heat.
