    Maybe a stupid question

    What's the grind

They are referring to the bloodweb grind most likely. The bloodweb starts small, and grows a bit larger. Costing in the 100,000's by the end.(and that is if you are being as effective as you can.

Perks in general are stuck to the character they belong to, but after lvl 30....teachables start showing up. These special perks allow you to find that perk in another character's bloodweb.

There are 16 killers and 17 survivors total. (33 total characters) multiply by 3, is 99 teachable perks.

If you only go through the effort of unlocking all teachables, and ignore extra grinding...(stop at 41 bloodweb for ease of math.)

    41 multiplied by 33 is 1,353 bloodwebs.

    -----------

It can be a bit overwhelming to new players. Although the grind does get to me personally from time to time. I also see such things as a Challenge. I like collecting games in general.

  • I'm sure there will be other cool interactive events hopefully in the future. Just a guess mind you, but they may do something later this Autumn.

I'm honestly looking forward to The Archives, and how they will function.

  • I really enjoyed the totems that spawn on the inside nook of some hills, the ones that spawn inside a cluster of rocks that I keep passing by, or the couple that hide up against barrels or lockers in such a way that you can't cleanse it unless you stand in just the right spot.

They are improving, just slowly it seems.

I typically just reroll them until I get something I like. I don't mind missing out on 30,000-ish bloodpoints if it means playing what I want to play. If it happens to be something I already like doing, hey, why not.

I have rerolled a lot of hillbilly/nurse dailies.

I understand what you mean. I have a nurse mori I'm tempted to give up on.

Whenever I see anything above 30,000.....and beneath 60,000 I usually do them when I get time and go back to playing normally.

I also want more of these environmental interactions, for both Survivors and Killers.

I remember growing up some games had death traps in multiplayer mode, floors that opened up, shock floors, spikes, etc. I think it would be cool to have non-lethal versions of those, like press a button and something falls down on you maybe injuring or just slowing you down. We could get doors that just open and shut randomly, steam vents, just things like that, it doesn't have to be major or even powerful but just something fun to use for both sides, not just pallets.

Would love to see more of this kind of thing implemented. Give us traps, switches, new ways to exit, other small animals of "evil" AI, new objectives to guard. I have a mighty need for something new and different.

  • Please use the in-game report feature if any rules are broken. Providing evidence of such rule breaking would be a plus.

If you feel they are specifically targeting you across games. My advice is to compile video and messaged evidence and contact support. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

  • The mobile beta is currently only available to those in Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. According to a DBDMobile post I saw. (tweet I think).

  • Oh, I see...I got the info kerfluffled. Thanks for setting me straight. In that case. Clocks are your friends....over failing skill checks.

Peanits stated that just hitting survivors will put them to sleep.

    -------------------

Why you should not be caught asleep? There are plenty of good reasons.

    -Can't wake other players up

-Snares and fake pallets will affect you, whether you like them or not. (imagine hag's traps, without teleport but instead slow, and the only counter is waking up or biting it.)

    -Stuck with a non-directional lullaby

-And the more people that are asleep will increase the strength of freddy. (tune into the ptb to find out more.)

Edit: Clocks wake you up for 90 seconds. Love those tinkerbells. Thanks Tzeentchling9 for the correction.

  • I have had bad lag games where my killer and survivors pop in and out of sight, doing small "teleports" as the game tries to load their actions I guess.

Hopefully dedicated servers will mitigate most of this.

  • If you are choosing for perk unlocks....

Nea I would choose for stealth- Urban evasion

Meg I would choose for running the killer- Sprint burst

Feng min I would choose for generators- Technician

(keep in mind that you can play however you want, those perks are not required to have "fun")

    ---------

Otherwise, just pick the characters you enjoy for whatever reason. (depending on the edition of dead by daylight you have, they are all unlocked characters.)

  • These are some really nice mori screenshots. Anyone got some interesting Pig one's?

  • I periodically get hit when vaulting, but with AStupidMonkeyy's advice, perhaps I can avoid going down as often.

I'm looking forward to dedicated servers personally. They should help a bit with things. (Like not having to make a new party every match.)

  • Disconnects and Lag mostly.

can't wait till dedicated servers come out.

  • Definitely check all the gameplay for the different killers before buying. I find the stealth/spooky killers really fun personally.

And of course there is plague if you like spreading the love and puking on everything. :3

  • I always find tinkerer helps me get survivors that are not on a gen at all. Useful for chases though.

Surveillance and discordance are quite nice. Combined with huntress lullaby or overcharge, it makes for funny scrambles.

  • I remember trying to show my friends the nifty way that freddy can catch all 4 survivors, and then have an easier time getting hits and downs.

They always said: "The secret to beating freddy was gen rushing."

This confused me, considering he could slow you down and find you.

    ----------------------

I'm anxious about the upcoming changes, but I have a strong hope it will be fine.

  • Custom map building sounds like a lot of fun! I wouldn't mind the idea of crafting traps and obstacles that the entity would send at the survivors. Of course this would probably take a great deal of planning and would be put on hold while other things get worked on. But it's always nice to imagine some of the amazing things that could occur in dead by daylight.

  • Here's some crazy ideas for a second objective.

The gens are all "caged" in some way and prevent you from accessing them. You then need to locate 1 of 7 "keys" scattered about the map. Use the "key" to unlock the "cage", and then work on the gen as normal.

    -----------------------------------

Or you could go with the fast and loose approach and throw out the concept of gens, and place 10 boxes/obelisks which you need to search/pray at to gather parts/talismans to fix/break the exit doors so you can leave.

(The first idea adds a second layer to the current style, where the second idea changes the original objective from a charge 5 stationary objects to power the exit. To the objective of locating objects at 5 stationary charge stations and then bring to exit gate to leave.)

  • When I first started playing this game on ps4, I mostly played killer. I eventually convinced my fiance to join me in a few swf games. One of the first games I played was against a trapper, and I honestly was terrified. I didn't know what was going on.

One of the other survivors met me in one of the old cluttered filled halls of O'Lerys memorial. I saw the trap right behind me, but the other guy didn't. I moved out of the way, and he charged right into the trap.

The scream echoed down the halls, and I knew I would be found soon. So I slowly started walking away while that survivor struggled to break themselves free.

    -----------------------------------------------------

After the game, that survivor invited me to chat and was wondering why I left them there without trying to free them. (Wait, my brain said. You can free people?) I explained as best I could, and he forgave me for being so green.

That man is still one of the best players I have ever met, and still a good friend. He taught me a ton of survivor techniques and killer avoidance tactics.

    -----------------------------

To this day, he loves to tell the story of how we met. I'm just thankful we did.

  • Oh my, oh my.

That was a real musical treat. Thank you.

  • What do you mean by "paper craft"?

  • Going to go somewhere dark a bit here.

The entity didn't have to physically entice the legion to join in his trials, but instead used emotional enticement.

What if the entity forced the legion apart and swore to only bring them together(outside of trials) if they complied with it's demands and participate in the trial.

It would be fairly effective I think.

  • Very nice! I do like indeed. I love this style. Very possible for comic book or cover art.

  • This puts me in mind of identity v's "Snooze" talent. (Which slows the sacrifice by 3%, 6%, 9%) Although, Identity v uses a point system to prevent you from using to many good talents all at once.

Now dead by daylight allows you to use whichever perk combination's you can imagine. Which means, unless they change it in the future....every perk is going to have the potential to affect all the other perks. (up to a max of four currently though)

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I feel that if such a perk was created, they would probably create a benefit to the killer to balance.

Example: Killer gains a speed boost relative to the percentage you are able to fend the entity off for while on the hook.

  • image.png

With Freddy's rework coming in the future mid-chapter patch, and the unknown 2nd chapter coming after that. It would not hurt to have more shards on hand I'd wager.

  • If you haven't already...Here's the link for support. Fill out a ticket, and hopefully someone should be able to help eventually. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

I'm sorry you are experiencing this issue. If my game on ps4 was doing that, well...I would be worried as well.

I hope things work out for you either way.

  • The tall man is quite an interesting possibility. An dimensional alien that disguises it's self as an undertaker(and other people), grave robs corpses, and steals brains to fuel his army for earth's take over.

The creep factor is high with this one. Just watching a metallic orb drill through someone's head is enough to make one itchy. This is not even going into the fact that for most of the movies, you can't even be sure what is reality/cannon and what is a fabrication of the character's psyche.

  • @RaginRendon

I feel killers may just start swinging at the rescuer and rescuee, instead of chancing an failed interrupt grab.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One idea for countering camping could be: An metaphorical exchange of hostages. Bear with me, these ideas sometimes have a life their own.

Crazy (bad) idea, but we give the killer an ability,(Through a perk, or base game) that allows them to free the survivor. This is their hostage.

The survivors then have to give up their hostage. The gens.

Full idea: Killers can free a survivor from the hook and are unable to attack that one survivor for a certain amount of time. During this time, Gens are unable to be worked on....giving the killer more time to locate survivors and hopefully turn the tide. Perhaps too high risk though.

(Just realized this probably won't work against negating camping. Being that some killers will just sit there and wait till the very end to save you, and repeat process a lot.)

  • In my opinion, The playable tutorials are very scripted. I believe you are on rails for the most part. It is designed to walk you through the basic gist of the game, while still leaving some mysteries to be figured out on your own.

  • Could you please provide video of what you are referring to?

  • "Chapter" in this instance seems to be synonymous with "Release", "Section", or "DLC".

It's like saying: "Here is a box." Sometimes the box has 3 things in it, and sometimes it has only one. It is still a box though.

  • You are asking for a perk build that is good in purple ranks, but is not meta. And it has to be perks that you would miss if you didn't have it.

Aside from this seeming contradictory, let's see what I can pull up.

    1.Solidarity for healing

2.Empathy for information and heal locating

    3.Lightweight for evasion

4.botany knowledge, pharmacy, buckle-up, Auto-didact for specializing in a healer styled character.

    or-

4.quick and quiet, iron will, distortion for specializing in a evasive healer styled character.

(This is just my opinion, and I didn't really place these perks up because you would miss them. The categories though.....those you would miss. Healing, information, evasion, specializing. These are things you may want to keep in mind when making a build. There may be other categories and ways to change to fit a build.)

  • "A merchant in Baghdad sends his servant to the marketplace for provisions. Soon afterwards, the servant comes home white and trembling and tells him that in the marketplace, he was jostled by a woman, whom he recognized as Death, who made a threatening gesture. Borrowing the merchant’s horse, he flees at great speed to Samarra, a distance of about 75 miles (125 km), where he believes Death will not find him. The merchant then goes to the marketplace and finds Death, and asks why she made the threatening gesture to his servant. She replies, “That was not a threatening gesture, it was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Baghdad, for I have an appointment with him tonight in Samarra.” ~ Appointment in sammara

  • I would like the option for extra graphic control, especially if they are already technically in game.

Although, behavior may have a reason for not releasing them yet.

  • The ole' switch a'roo. It's nice to know people are employing tactical awareness to their games. Good on you for sharing.

Hmm, tempted to compile a list of tactics that would work fairly well in the game.

  • Some of the reasons I think Identity V has less issues with 2 vs 8 mode, Is because the game is free.....On several accessible platforms....and the 2 vs 8 mode is only available during certain hours throughout the day.

If dead by daylight were to implement something similar, they would have to make it available only at certain hours or rotate it out with other modes like certain first person shooter games.

Just my random thoughts at the moment. What do you think?

  • "...There are no permanent direct bans for DCs...

Only if you get softbanned three times, then you get a permanent ban." ~ Quoted from Gay Myers (Luzi)

  • Depends on the collation of data. They could have it tomorrow, and they could have it weeks from now.

They may wait till they can use said data, confer with the team, and then post the results with the extra info of how and why they did the survey in the first place.

The only thing for certain is it will be released Soon ™️.

  • I ran into a similar issue on the game a while back. However, it turned out I had clicked one of the player's names and it had pulled up their profile. The profile was chock full of very naughty images.

One of the friends I was playing with reported them to Sony and we all moved on. How they managed to not get banned before then was amazing though.

  • I recently watched a video and talked with a friend about what makes a game, a "horror survival" game. We narrowed it down to...

    • Strong story
    • Isolation
    • Vulnerability

I realize Dead by daylight is not a "horror survival", which is why Vulnerability wouldn't be as necessary.

Isolation could be pulled off in a multitude of ways, that could strengthen the fear and cooperation of the team.

A strong story is currently lacking. There is no reason to fear the dark or the creatures in it....if nobody is going to tell you about them. (I know each character comes with a backstory...but I feel that it barely scratches the surface.)

If anything....dead by daylight's backstory seems set up in almost a "hell girl" anime style. Beings, once humans....lost in their anger, their grief, and fears....gave into the dark and dug two graves. Has a bittersweet melancholic feel to it.

  • Could someone post a link for the flag they posted. I've looked through their Instagram and twitter, and came up with nothing new. Thanks in advance.

  • Not sure how effective this would be.....but, Identity 5 has a system in place for such an issue.

Instead of our usual inactivity crows that alert the killer when we are standing still for too long.

They have a stronger version, which causes crows to alert the killer if you are not working on decoders(generators), or the doors within a certain amount of minutes.

This timer resets if you get within the killer's terror radius. Also, once the doors are activated, the crow alert timer is decreased...making it more likely for you to be noticed.

  • Eleanor

The killer had caught her prey by the arm, and relished in her favorite part. The squirming and sinking despair in her victim's eyes.

The prey said some words about being caught and not being able to untie themselves in time.

"Time? What's your hurry, we are just getting start--" Eleanor broke off mid-sentence as a bottle of soap flew at her.

She easily avoided the soap, but the moment of distraction was all her prey needed. He managed to roll through the air, which further loosened the whip, and suddenly Mike was free. "I bet this gonna leave a bruise... Damn, that hurts! Why you did that?!" The prey asked incredulously.

"Why. Why. Why. They always ask why. What you should be asking is how. How I'm going to kill you. Haha!" She stated with a smirk and glee. Her whip still being flicked to and fro from her hand.

    Chris

Creeping through the small store, he found small food items and bottled drinks. Nothing amazing though.

The sound of something clattering to the floor in the back of the store drew his attention. Grabbing a nearby plastic broom, he twisted off the bottom and brought the pole for a measly defense. "Please don't let it be killer faeries, please don't let it be killer faeries." He chanted to himself.

Arriving in the back of the store, he came face to face with an odd sight. A lady in tight leather wielding a whip and staring down some other dude. "I don't think these kind of scenarios usually play out in stores like this." he thought while ducking quickly back the way he came. "Does he need help?"

  • Eleanor

"As much as I enjoy talking to my meal, I would prefer to hear them scream and run away in a blind panic." Eleanor smirked and flicked her whip quickly, catching the boy by the arm.

    Chris

"C'mon, let's go investigate. Maybe we are not alone after all." Chris said to Johnathan. No answer replied to him. When Chris looked over across the car top, the other man was no where to be seen.

Chris quickly walked around the vehicle to once again find nothing. There was simply no trace at all of Detective Johnathan. It was like he was swallowed by the fog.

Quickly looking over the rest of the vehicle, Chris found a police issued billy stick, car keys, and some gum. "Where's a good bearclaw when you want one." he thought aloud.

Chris grabbed the three items, jumped behind the wheel, and arrived at the scene of the crime in seconds.

Getting out of the cop cruiser, he noticed there was no longer an alarm blaring. Although, the shattered glass window indicated this must be the place. Psyching himself up, he slipped inside the store.

ooc: The entire month of December was a busy time for me, so I had to allocate time and resources to other venues. Until such time that more people arrive, I will increase my presence on this thread so that at least the show can go on.
If I'm going to be absent for more than a few days, I'll drop a correspondence.

This link above should have all the info you need.

From what I can tell, most games that are gifted will be region locked to the area that you bought them under the steam store. (Being that you can be in asia and still buy under an united states steam account)

Please read all the info and act carefully.
