If I see a key in a lobby, I dodge. Switch out last second? Whatever, I don't even bother trying. What's the point, if I get them down to two people, they're just going to escape via the hatch anyway, especially if they can't handle a 3-gen situation or a situation where I can get across the map quickly (most recent example: Wraith with All Seeing).
Franklin's is ######### , considering any good survivor can play around it AND it doesn't address the last second key-change when the killer can't do the same.
Keys are ridiculous as-is. There's literally no reason 1 person can open the hatch and let others' out.

Per the lore, the entity is a cosmic being, the personification of evil. It corrupts then consumes everything it can in the universe. It prefers dark, land based planets but it isn't limited to that.
Where, exactly, in the lore are you pulling this out of your ass from? I've gone through the lore and can't find anything having to do with light
I can however, say that mr grimes thinks the entity is an "ancient one", which, if true and is connected to lovecraft, would mean that it wouldn't give 2 fffuuuuuuus about light. Ancient ones are beyond anything the human mind can imagine. That would mean that IF light did hurt it, we can safely assume that light wouldn't be something as simple as a large, burning star in the center of our galaxy. And we can't rely on OUR light hurting it, since we only see a portion of the light spectrum in general.
You say flashlights, but we don't know what effect flashlights have on the entity itself. Can we shine a light on the hooks as the entity is appearing to stop it? No? So it's apparently not hurt by light, if all of your theories (which you haven't backed up with actual lore) can explain.
Edit: I know most people on here don't care about lore, but I love reading it. I love the story playing out and I have theories on why survivors are picked - they're not only resourceful, but I think the entity sees some darkness in them - specifically now Yun-jin. She ignored what was happening with the trickster. That's not a good trait/quality.
I also do not think, in any way shape or form, the lore should have any impact on gameplay beyond thematic texts on items and lore entries, etc.

But, if he’s just right for you, that’s okay too. I feel the same way.
What I don’t understand, is why people have to bash others for having an opinion on whether one likes or dislikes Trickster.
I like his aesthetic, but he's objectively a terrible killer to play. His slowdown is ridiculous on his knife throwing, and by the time you get to the survivor, you might as well just M1 them. His Main Event, half the time I saw the yellow and then didn't do anything with it, because what's there to do when you've already downed the survivor?
He's just objectively a terrible killer, compared to all other killers in this game.
Otherwise, he's great!

Its a bad play from the survivor if they would decide to push the 3gen instead of cleansing the totem and no killer can win the game if one survivor harrasses the totem and the other three do gens. They can start clransing and always run away and if the killer commits the last gen is done.
Freddy can pressure every gen. But only one. His cooldown is too long, so he cannot defend 3 gens against 4 survivor. Survivor get a headstart anyway when they see his teleport.
This is funny, I was going to say Freddy would be one of the best if not the best. My secondary is freddy (main is deathslinger) and Ive only lost a 3gen once or twice. 3genning is my standard defense.

Why would someone count hatch as kills? It's literally an escape. Literally. Am I missing something?

I just want a gay survivor that isn't flamboyant but DOES have a flamboyant (specifically, work with a gay dude to voice) skin for him.
"Hay gurls! Guess who's shittin in THIS tall grass here, bitches!"
(Just for reference, I am gay).
Actually.... Thinking about it, do any survivors other than Ash have voice lines? If not, why the hell not? Add in some personality.

You said being LGBTQ isn't political, but I know too many examples to just stop there, YOU brought it up, and you did try to change it, I think you already knew i wasn't about DBD to address your question, but rather the question itself, but whatever, go ahead have at it.
Being LGBT in and of itself isn't political. Taking rights away from a certain group because they're a certain way IS political. Not treating everyone equally despite being put into different categories is political.
If you don't care SSSOOOO much, then why are you even here?

Well to be honest I only read the part where u said "Sorry, why should we leave our politics out of *our* game?". So my response was to that statment.
Then your response is discarded since it literally adds nothing to the conversation he and I were having. Not only that but it's blatantly false.
@Thunderous_670 said:
No dude, I said MY GAME, meaning my own opinion, we could talking about the same exact game but be advocating for completely different things, when I said my game, I realized that was a typo meant to "my games" referring to BFV and COD WW2 as prime examples.
Gotcha. Now I get it! It wasn't just one game. You meant all your games. Understood.

Because it's political if it's forced down, same applies if some guy made a game about glorifying national socialism or stalinism, it's not just forced gays I'm against, but also many right-wing ideas, i guess I just hate politics as a whole when talking about extremes.
How is it forced! Asking for a ######### gay character is "forcing" it? Like, #########.

.............. You must not know a whole about WW2 do you? There was Title IX at the time, the only female soldiers you had would of been French, Russian, or German in 1945, but moving away from gender, look at the British commando with a JAPANESE katana on his back (it should be in a sheath) fighting on the western front. That doesn't make any sense, and if I remember right, he was wearing shades like bruh, at least they got The Last Tiger though, they still humanized the Germans while exposing the SS's cruelty towards not just civilians, but the Wehrmacht too.
Wow, for a group who likes to tell us that "it's just a game. Who cares?" you sure do care about not-straight-white-men being in your games. A lot. LOL

I think that when someone says that "we should leave politics out of our games", is not talking about politics in CoD or MGS. Have you ever seen some of those Hollywood celebrities telling people what they should vote??? Well, I think that this is not okay.
I love economics, history, and politics. And yea having it in my games is awesome. But when that game tells you "if you dont vote this or that then you are a bad person", then we have a problem.
Literally in the post I quoted:
"Scottish woman with a prosthetic arm".
He has a problem with a Scottish woman with a prosthetic arm in his trailer for COD. That's literally what he said.

No Freddy, I mean my game because it's own opinion and not everyone will agree with me so I have to respect that, but yes in the grand scheme of things, we do have to come together to keep this game alive for as long as possible.
You might mean your game, you're very mistaken. It's my game as well. I want an LGBT survivor.
-
@Thunderous_670 said:
Getting away from dbd for a second, both COD WW2 and BFV were heavily influenced by SJW's, BFV's opening trailer literally had a Scottish woman with a prosthetic arm as their lead trailer character, that's just ridiculous and even in COD WW2 people were complaining that they were forced to play nazis because nazis are terrible, which they were, but it's a ww2 game, what do you expect? Even in Star Wars Battlefront 2 they removed all of the male specialist skins for the the sequel and OT literally just because they wanted "equal representation" for women, and not just letting the player choose what gender they want. Being an SJW is political, and the problem is that they're heavily involved with the LGBTQ community and are the same people calling everyone who disagrees homophobic and racist. Now that's fine and all in politics, because that's what politics are meant for, but putting them games forces people to come back to the reality that our society is very sensitive, SJW's are a problem for gaming, real life whatever, but don't politicize my gaming.
Sorry, why should we leave our politics out of *our* game?

Representation of something wholly sex related. It's the same thing. I can only imagine that if I were LGBT that I'd be very embarassed at seeing how this non essential part of my life (sex) is being put on display as if it defines me.
Which part is about sex? Specifically, which part is referring to sex?

We're good man. You get props - you say you're only concerned with the game - so I take you at your word. I don't think you're a homophobe, my only statement is, I only hope that you see that sometimes, just sometimes, even drag queens with beards play, and yes, even they would like to see a little bit of themselves.
The LGBT community is and always has been very connected to horror - from Nightmare on Elm St 2 (Not "intentional" but still) to Dragula and before and after those. We just wanna see ourselves sometimes.
And I get it - you think it's out of place in the game. I do - I understand.

Isn't Jane Mexican though? I think that would fit her culture like how Yui has a cultural outfit too, that's not just a costume, that's related to their belief in the dead (the day of the dead I think?), so no that's not the same thing, although I see what you were trying to go for.
Fair, but then what's the excuse for David?
It's a man, wearing makeup. It isn't a drag queen of course, so I get the point, but ultimately, if your entire schtick is "I don't want to see makeup on men or wild makeup in game" (to be completely fair to him - @TheButcher6641 stated many times that he only feels this way about the game, NOT real life - I give him mad props for that. It shows, at least on paper, that he just wants his game to not be devolved into... drag queen-ness) then these things completely negate that. Most of the survs have wild costumes you can wear. WHICH IS AMAZING.

Hi. Older gay here who campaigned for gay rights in the late 90s/early 00s and I'm very aware of my history. What Zach is saying is absolutely, without a doubt, correct. Its getting harder to be openly gay due to forced representation. In the 70s/80s being gay was absolutely awful. You're not wrong on that at all. Coming out was basically sentencing yourself to a life of unnecessary difficulty that straight people just didn't have to contend with. But through education and campaigning with a message of tolerance we got to a point in the 90s and 00s where gay people could exist, albeit with some difficulty which is to be expected when you're different, and it honestly wasn't that bad. I could hold my partner's hand in public without fear of persecution (Other than perhaps some stares. Big whoop). There were still some problematic areas of course, but over time the same message would have carried us through. As long as we didn't make a big deal out of it, neither did straight people. And if they were problematic or homophobic you could sit down and have a conversation with them and they'd usually be pretty receptive to it. But something went wrong some time after I entered the scene and it's made me take a permanent back seat from the gay community.
The message was no longer about tolerance and was instead replaced with a message of mandatory acceptance. People wanting to express their right to freedom of religion were met with attacks from the gay community. People being even remotely hesitant about a homosexual lifestyle were met with hostility. Instead of respecting mutual freedom gay people decided to become militant. And the worst part about that is that it worked. People actually let the community get away with it. And now we're another decade ahead and things have not gotten better. We have a seemingly militant wing of the LGBT community that goes around demanding acceptance/inclusion/representation and if a company doesn't abide they're met with hostility. People's lives are ruined constantly for something as innocent as ignorance. Accidentally say the wrong thing on Twitter? Don't worry! The LGBT militia is gonna be all over that and make sure you lose your job. Don't have your pronouns listed in your bio? BIGOT! A family member of mine owns a salon and someone who entered the establishment identified as non-binary. My relative did not know anything about that and when they misgendered the person the police were called and a small and thankfully ineffective protest started outside. It's crazy. I am embarrassed to be part of something like this.
And how do you think the majority population is supposed to react when they see stuff like that? Complacent? Happy? Enthused? No. They instead start to dislike the community. I've been called the F word more times in the last decade than I ever was in the 90s or the 00s. It's honestly crazy and the youth of today have no idea what they're doing as all the progress that my generation, yours, and those before of us have fought for is unraveled. I'm just glad that people like Zach and the many other LGBT people that share a similar stance to me have commented and participated in the thread as well. This isn't just the ramblings of one person. We're waking up as a community and I'm so glad to see that.
I used to be the same as you. Even took someone on Ricki Lake back in the day for it.
Then I woke up. I hope you do too, someday. You were called the "F word" because people got emboldened with the political environment. Zach isn't from the US, by his own admission.
There's no reason for us to sit at the back of the bus anymore. Asking for an LGBT character isn't shoving it in anyones face. It's asking for some representation. You are literally everything I've had to fight against for the last 20 years. If you've been in the community, then you should know what this symbol is:
It is not "harder to be openly gay" now then it ever was. And that statement is the most disingenuous statement you made in that entire diatribe of yours.

If you don't plan on getting and playing it day 1 it means, and I mean this in a polite way, that even if you're not consciously aware of it you re probably a little bit racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, and maybe even arachnophobic. I'm just telling you this since you are probably not aware to give you a little guidance on how to improve upon your faults. So the state where prop 8 was set up to block gay marriage after it was first voted on and approved in the state?
Hon, gay marriage in the US has only been legal for roughly 8 years. And CA was the second state to legalize it.
I got married in Iowa before it was nationwide as well. Iowa was like, the 5th or 6th state to allow it. We were married in 2014 and I think it was 2013 that it was legalized in Iowa. Maybe I'm older I have more perspective, but even 10 years (it's been nowhere near 10 years, mind you) is still not "a long time".

I've been playing regularly since June. Since June, every time there's a teaser, there are at least 2-3 threads asking about LGBT characters. I know, because I comment in them frequently, as it's a topic near and dear to my heart.

The more of a big deal this LGBT conversation gets the more anxiety I get about the impending release. Like yo being LGBT is really not THAT big of a deal. Like I feel pretty well represented these days in general as someone who is LGBT, gay marriage has been legal for a really long time (Something I did take advantage of BTW.) We've already dealt with homophobia as a tabboo subject for a super long time now and people are pretty comfortable with it as a whole.
If they're gay they're gay, if they're not they're not. Just get on with it yo. I'm not going to resonnate with a gay character just because they're gay, I'm going to resonate with them because of things I can relate to beyond that. Besides with the power of fanfiction everyone is gay already anyways.

I don't see any "homophobes" why is this such big topic in forum? Never before have I seen anyone caring whether someone gay or straight or anything but now so many posts saying same thing.
I care. I want a gay character. There. Someone cares.

Jesus H. Christ, that looks like something out of a horror film.
That's the point, Marge! XD Go watch Dragula! It's such a cool show.
ETA - Orion, I love your posts. You're awesome. <3

I am gay and couldn't care less about a LGBTQI+ survivor.... Like who cares honestly they are fictional characters in a "horror" game and all of them are reskins anyway.
And who says some survivor characters aren't queer already? Who knows that dwight didn't have a boyfriend once? Maybe nea is into girls?
Like who gives a damn about that... The lore of this game is boring and nobody ever reads the archive log entries or other stuff anyway...
TBH I hate how goofy some outfits have become in the past, DBD lost it's horror theme a long while ago (elf dwight, box dwight, the onesies, weird santa claudette, onesie deathslings, cumogorgon, etc.). If they add like a drag queen or someone else to the game it would just be the nail to the coffin, that's Dead by Daylight and not an episode of rupauls drag race. Don't get me wrong I do some drag as well sometimes for fun but that not supposed to be in DBD. It's glamourous, sparkly and fun, like the complete opposite of horror but whatever... Goofy stuff over horror I guess, we can't take this game seriously anymore anyway.
"nobody reads the lore anyways". Actually, the lore is quiet interesting. The killers, obviously moreso, but the survivors stories are actually really varied.
Just because you don't like the lore doesn't mean no one does.

Depends what you do.
If you make a gigantic song and dance about it and post everywhere that this character is X everyone cheer!... yeah you are pandering for clicks, likes and retweets.
If it is just added like everyone else and we go on about our day then meh.
They are making a new character with new law that is fine. IF they suddenly changed an existing character that is not fine, that is pandering.
People are touchy about this subject because it has ruined things. if you want an example then look at the comic book industry. We have movies where established characters are being removed and replaced with X gender for the sake of diversity or some movement and they end up failing because of it. (Ghostbusters 2016)
If anything bringing it up constantly like this is hurting it and making people annoyed. Just let it go and let the devs do what they want.
LOL this is certainly a hot take.
