Dead by Daylight will probably decline over time, like most multi-player games, but I think a dedicated following will stick around or regularly return for years. And with big changes like 60 FPS, Switch, and dedicated servers I don't think we have to worry.
If it went totally free to play and relied on cosmetic and chapter purchases I think it would see a nice bump. (Yeah I know it's a cheap game already but younger players without a job might be deterred by any price)

I do play other games besides this one, but thank you for the advice.
You're very welcome.

If each round were full of jumpscares and lasted 10-ish minutes, I'd probably play survivor more than killer, but I know I'm in the minority.
OK. Go play a different game.

wow, such anecdote much wow. I've 4k'd at rank1 with freddy with no perks. nerf killers i guess.
How is your anecdote any more accurate than mine? You're making the extreme claim that it's literally impossible to kill a survivor with keys based on what? A claim like yours would need actual dev statistics.

You CANNOT win against a killer if survivors get the key, that's just a fact. You cannot patroll all gens unless you're billy/nurse, survivors have to be absolute potatoes to not be able to do 3+ gens.
False. I've died with keys plenty of times and I've killed survivors with keys too.

Survivors surviving is not a given. That’s part of the appeal of horror movies - you watch the killer rampage and you’re not sure if your favorite character or anyone at all will make it out...but you do know that the killer has and will kill.
Moris are fine but if you want to “nerf” them, the only acceptable “nerf” is making moris part of the base gameplay but you can only do so on a would be 3rd or final hook. That’s more than fair.
If you don’t want to deal with dying in a horror game that has Michael Myers and Freddy in it...you’re either extremely entitled or you don’t know or care about horror. Moris are fun for everyone! I love doing and getting moried. But hey, I might just be old fashioned where I think horror is supposed to mean something for the survivors.
LOL this isn't a horror movie. If it was then 95% of matches would end with 1 survivor alive at most. That would be so much fun!

LOL, okay.

Let me know when you read the thread so you can start making sense.
I did read it and it changed nothing. Please explain to me how a killer could possibly be balanced if they cannot get kills (their sole objective). Those two things are mutually exclusive. You said something about the Clown's power being good at what it does but having a counter. That's your idea of balance. But how would any killer's power be balanced if it could not help them get kills?
And the whole point of this, which we could have gotten to sooner if you'd simply answer a question rather than deflecting, is that if you are claiming only two killers played perfectly can get kills, you are being disingenuous. And you recently saying the Clown is in a good place is evidence of that.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/368899#Comment_368899
That's where the thread comes in.
OK. So you don't disagree that you think the Clown can't get kills but you also think he's balanced. Got it.

I opened up a thread explaining what I mean by "balanced". Read it if you'd like to understand more.
Yeah but here you're saying only two killers can get kills if they play perfectly. If Clown can't get kills how is he balanced?
-
It's just a meme.

@The_Crusader said:

My experience is the same.
To be honest its not even how you play. If they're going to d/c "because Legion" then they're going to do it as soon as they see him.
Again from experience its the toxic claudette/nea/meg players with flashlights who want a killer they can loop and 360 all game.
How do you know how they play if they DC? Or are you saying those survivors + a flashlight = toxic?
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/368459#Comment_368459
So you think it's acceptable that if you want to play killer and actually kill, you're pigeonholed into playing two characters perfectly, while survivors don't have to do anything of significance to escape?
Didn't you say Clown was balanced a few days ago?
-
No, absurd idea. Adrenaline is fine. NOED is a crutch, but it's fine balance wise.

I can't tell you how many times I've downed the adrenaline chasee and killed them. Not a guaranteed escape.
Haven't you heard? Adrenaline opens all the gates and teleports you straight through the exit.
-
I do it sometimes and I've seen others do it when I was a survivor and when I was the killer. I also often give the hatch to the last survivor when I'm the killer if they didn't piss me off during the match.

So you disagree that survivors as individuals have bizarre conditions about what constitutes tunneling? Keep in mind, I have said nothing about killers' bizarre conditions for other aspects of the game because this is a survivor-centered thread. It's not biased to focus on the matter at hand without making it into an "us vs. them" issue.
Eh, this is just not worth my time or energy. I answered your original question but I'm not gonna argue back and forth about this.
-
@GrootDude said:
@brokedownpalace you say he is biased for asking survivors a question, so are the devs biased if they ask killers if they find chases fun?
Sorry but that doesn't make sense. I did not say he was biased for asking a question and in fact you can see in my response that I have no problem with the question itself. My issue was with how he phrased it and what else he included in his OP.
I'm not really sure what point you're trying to make here. No.. Nobody is biased for asking survivors if they find chases fun.
-
@Orion said:

This thread is about survivors (it's right there in the title), so I'm not sure why you thought I'd be talking about killers as well.
With that out of the way, if you can't win chases, it's not on the killer to let you go, is it?
Because you're being needlessly divisive. If you don't want a response like mine then you should probably just ask a straightforward question without injecting your bias.
"With that out of the way, if you can't win chases, it's not on the killer to let you go, is it?"
Did I say it was? It doesn't mean I have to enjoy being tunneled. Did I say "killers need to stop tunneling it's ruining my game!!" or did I say "I don't enjoy being tunneled 3 hooks in a row?"
Killers can do whatever they want as long as it's within the rules. Most survivors are capable of understanding that tunneling is sometimes effective and at the same time not like when it happens to them (or if it happens multiple trials in a row).
-
It would be cool if you stopped acting like only one side has their "bizarre conditions" they'd like their opponents to follow.
You can like chases but not enjoy being tunneled 3 hooks in a row. They're not mutually exclusive things. Considering you need to do objectives and altruism too, if you spend your whole match being chased then you'll probably max out on boldness and depip.

@brokedownpalace The points you get for an unhook done by another survivor are only returning the points you lost for a survivor being hooked to begin with.
Ahh OK. That makes sense.
-
@Orion said:
I think that's more an issue with unhooks being too easy and risk-free relative to the amount of points you get. In theory, unhooks should be hard to pull off, but they're so easy you can do it right in the killer's face with little repercussion.
Can you pull off an unhook in front of the killer fairly easily? Yes. But you need to take a hit or two unless the killer is terrible. I personally love when I play killer and 3 survivors swarm around the hook. I just keep swapping hooked survivors. It almost always gets me 2 kills, sometimes more, depending on the circumstances.
Unhooking shouldn't be hard. Maybe reward the points over time the longer the unhooked survivor stays out of the dying state instead of just splitting it into the initial unhook and 10 seconds later. For example 750 for the unhook and an additional 250 points every 15 seconds that the survivor isn't downed again, up to 1500 total. If they escape or you manage a heal within that 45 seconds then you get the rest of the points instantly.
Edit: I realize this was about emblems and I'm talking BP but I think the same method could be applied to emblem points.
-
2 unhooks total or just for you? Because every safe unhook gives some points to all survivors, I'm pretty sure.
-
Stupid post.
-
I don't think this game necessarily has a win condition, but people are free to decide on their own.
If I only get 1 kill as a killer but that survivor was giving me grief the whole match then I'm pretty happy. If I die as a survivor but one or more of my teammates escaped then I'm usually happy.
Mostly I just want BP.

Do you think the no-heal meta would be a thing if there were enough drawbacks to being injured?
It's certainly not meta on PS4.
Regardless, getting downed in one hit and being easier to find is enough. If the drawbacks were bad enough to force survivors to heal then healing would have to be adjusted.
-
It's not gonna take three weeks. It'll probably be out next week or the week after at the latest.
-
So you actually have to work for an instadown? How unfair
-
There aren't enough drawbacks to being injured? Now I've heard everything

They nerfed when 1 and 2 Survivors are injured , kept the 3 Survivors part and BARELY increased if all,4 are..its a nerf thru and thru because getting 4 Survivors injured and kept injured long enough for that "increase" to balance the nerfed parts, is not going to happen realistically
Well thank you for explaining, didn't realize about the changes to 1 and 2 survivors injured.
My point still stands that it would make no sense to nerf Resilience or TINH. Thanatophobia obviously needs a buff.
-
@Delfador said:
@brokedownpalace It is that awful.
You are forgetting the stagger survivor gets from rushing out of the locker and getting off of the killers' shoulder.
Old ds 1 had 3 second stun timer and with enduring 3, this is the result.

Its not "reverted" though, it's nerfed from what it is currently.
So while we're in the habit of nerfing already weak perks...
What? They're putting it at 16%, before it was 15%.
-
@Orion said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/365067#Comment_365067
That's not how it works. It doesn't reduce the stun time by 75%, it increases recovery speed by 75%. That means the stun time will be reduced by roughly 1,3 seconds (not even 50%).
Ahhh, ok. That's not as bad then.
-
Why not make Thanatophobia affect everything but healing (gens, exit gate, totems, etc)?
-
@The_Crusader said:
So when survivors kept asking for resilience and this is not happening to be buffed to counter the new thana, I guess since Thana is now nerfed those 2 perks need nerfing too.
Resilence - 4/5/6% bonus right?
Is this satire? Resilience and ESPECIALLY This Is Not Happening are weak perks. Your logic makes no sense. Than, a weak perk, got a buff, so it was asked that two weak survivor perks also get a buff. Than buff gets reverted so you think it's a good idea to make two already weak perks now completely useless?
-
Yes, please. The less junk in the bloodweb the better
-
75% of 3 seconds is way too much.
-
Anyone who claims to experience DCing in more than half their games is obviously either lying or trolling in game.

Oh, like how Survivors whined and complained about face camping? When the Killer used their hitboxes to body block the hook prompt? Yeah, that was an exploit... yet Survivors can do that EXACT same thing but it's Ok. Cool beans.
Is this a joke? They're not even remotely the same thing and devs have made it very clear that one is okay and the other isn't.
-
My interest comes and goes. As long as they keep pushing out content I'll come back to check it out. When there isn't much going on (DLC, events, mid chapter patches) I won't play as much, though. UNLESS they make rank rewards and such.

Your narrative is simple: Balance everything around the most stupid survivor.
Easy win for any decent survivor, that actually know what they are doing.
This is a common misconception among survivor mains, killer stuff always needs to get balanced around the best killer ("nerf BBQ! to stronk on Billy!") and best player ("I saw Tru3 4k without perks, nerf killer!") , but the same does not apply to survivor.
Lol I haven't even mentioned balance. The only reason I responded to you was because you claimed 6 perks had no counter and then did nothing to back it up.
Moving on.
-
Nvm.

I am not sure… I can't decide between *yawn* or *lol*
Literally NOTHING you say is changing anything I said.
Killer complaining about gen rush, because 3 gens pop when the first victim gets on the hook. Guess what? That's 3 other survivor just doing 3 different gens. Do the math.
Your 2nd point I already adressed, just reread it. Nothing I posted is faulty, because I can only grab an injured survivor from a vault and I can only pull potato survivor from a gen.
And your 3rd point is again a survivor meme: balance the game so that even survivor playing like idiots can win.
Sorry, dude, just drop it, the only way you can win this debate by stubbornly repeat your nonsense and make false claims, because I don't let myself get dragged into pointless never ending debates that I already won.
You didn't win anything. This game has way too many variables, including random generation, for it to be broken down to simple math. You also brought up like 6 different survivor perks that have "no counter" and then decided you only wanted to focus on Self Care. Then you deemed yourself winner of the debate.
I also don't buy the narrative that gets pushed by some that 3 gens in one chase is a common thing. I've put over 3000 hours into this game and that has rarely been my experience, as killer or survivor. Does it happen? Of course. I've had just as many matches where the killer gets all 4 survivors with 0 or 1 gen done.

People are allowed to ask questions, that's why they this forum exists.
-
"From ingame experience we all know that a single chase is enough for a single survivor to do a gen."
We don't all know that. I've seen chases end in literally 20 seconds. What if its a killer with an instadown power or the survivor is exposed due to one of the many perks or add ons? What if they get pulled off a gen or from a vault? Your premise is faulty, buddy.
You're also assuming the three survivors are all working on gens, rather than one crouching to go for a flashlight save, one searching a chest and one cleansing a totem. Not every game is filled with players who focus on objectives at the expense of everything else.
-
0. I don't use it.

@Orion said:

There's 15 killers. Self-Care also helps if the survivors are missing every skill check, but I'd rather focus on the overall picture than edge cases.
If you don't want to bring up edge cases, then don't. I regularly catch survivors who miss one self care skill check. No need to miss all of them. (And I guarantee plenty of the time it's that BS skill check that pops up AFTER you stop performing an action, but that's another topic)
-
Oh stop. You can just say you don't want to defend your points, don't hide behind not wanting to "derail" the topic.
