  • I think if you've been on ground long enough to get 3 crows you should be able to increase your bleed out speed. If you have 3 crows your teammate(s) isn't coming for you and the killer is just wasting your time. 4 minutes is such a long time to do nothing.

  • How do you know they're all PC when you're on console and not just on a different console platform?

As a killer what I like to do when the new tome levels come out is scout the survivor challenges to see what to expect in a match. Might be trying to get flashlight saves....or pop gens in the killers terror radius or pallet stuns. That stuff used to bother me when I first started but now I realize it's part of the game.

I do this as survivor, I go through the killer challenges and see what they're trying to do. Doing this actually explains alot of killer/survivor gameplay that seems odd when tomes come out.

As a sidenote because I haven't seen it mentioned:

Any of Wraith's add-ons that apply a status effect can cause some horrendous freezing.

Is that what it is with Wraith? I thought it was the glowy cosmetic. It's been a bad time playing against him, so many freezes.

Haven't really noticed. I haven't played much since SBMM came out so it's too early for me to notice a difference.

I went from maybe 1 or 2 DCs a session to nearly every match has a DC. I thought maybe DC penalties were off because of how quickly they have increased in my matches.

  • It does seem like since sbmm has come in there are more DCs on both sides. In my matches either survivor DCs early or killer DCs if couple gens pop before they hook someone. I've been watching streams and it's the same thing, just lots of DCs from both sides in the matches.

It's clear the poster has created a new forum account for the purpose of derailing this topic. The poster said above this would be the last post they would make but still continues with posts which are nothing more than theories as you say.

It's 100% trolling and trying to derail the post. Devs have even agreed that there are performance issues that they are working on. Mod that works for BHVR has said the videos are helping to fix performance issues. They are just ignoring all of that to try and bait out arguments.

  • I think 2 a year would be plenty. Right now we have so many killers and survivors that we don't need to add 4 a year.

If it's a "what about all these people in the art department, we hired enough for 4 chapters a year" maybe cut back on art department to have enough for 2 chapters a year and move the budget that will now be available to hire more to focus on game health.

I very rarely go against Cheaters but when I do it's always so apparent what's happening. I went against a Clown yesterday who I'm convinced was cheating as he always knew where everyone was. I had Kindred equipped so it was really easy to see what was happening. As soon as he hooked or downed someone he would beeline straight for someone else who wouldn't have been readily visible if close or too far away to know where they were.

I thought initially he may have the perk that lets you see all survivors for 4 seconds once one is hooked and changed my playstyle to match bit he still was able to come straight to me from the other side of the map even though I didn't run, so no hatch marks, and was hidden by multiple things so no direct line sight.

Once I was sacrificed I had a look and lo and behold: No perks equipped and no offerings given for hexes. No one is that good naturally.

I had a Clown the other day that found everyone no matter where they were without any sort of tracking. I was found first even though I started behind rock where there's no way he would seen me but he went right around to where I was - I figured must've had leathap pursuer or whispers to think to circle THAT exact rock. When I was hooked he went directly at my teammate working on a totem not near a gen and quickly downed them. Thought maybe BBQ? This finding people with no issue was the whole match. When I was spectating the last survivor they were behind a rock finishing healing in corner of map when clown closed hatch on other side. They weren't near a door but somehow clown knew to go check that corner instead if checking the doors after closing hatch. His load out didn't have anything to help with tracking survivors - no lethal pursuer, no whispers, no BBQ, no nurses, etc.

  • I ran plunderers to find item in match instead of bringing one of my hoarded items.

That is hardly harmful. But if other hacks happened like the ones we have now (flying all over, insta healing, speed boosts etc.) then I was lucky because I never saw it on ps4 since 2018.

Now it is not even rare, it is becoming normal.

I'm sure other hacks were used at the time, that was just one of the more obvious "look I'm from pc" hacks.

  • I'm going to guess they'll do a log in reward for BP for everyone to make up for it. If not could see players stop playing once they reach high grade around reset to avoid running into this again and missing out on BP reward.

  • @Shaped said:

So even when I turn crossplay off, pc players (hackers) can still end up in my lobbies appearing as they are on my platform? Seriously???

Was this possible before the crossplay came? I don't remember ever facing hackers back in the day.

Now I definitely wish crossplay never happened. This is dumb. I faced like 5+ hackers in the last 15 days, I don't want to see them when I turn crossplay off too.

Before crossplay people on console were getting legacy cosmetic players in their matches. Unfortunately being on console doesn't keep us immune from hackers.

  • @JHondo said:

I'm gonna go with they removed it because the community is a bunch of 12 year olds losing their ######### over "I Came" so they wanted to get rid of it. With any luck they'll reinstate the "You Opened the Box." line though

They removed the mori line too. It's probably more than just the jokes over "I came" when both lines were removed instead of just one.

  • I've had quite a few matches on ps4 with crossplay off where very suspect things have been happening. Have had few perkless or single perk killers somehow finding survivors in places they shouldn't be able to, major lag/odd hits towards end of match when losing... Things that just make you question if they are just lucky or if they are actually hacking.

  • Same for me and my swf teammate

  • I hate the randoms when going against Pinhead because they're scared of picking up/solving the box. Pinhead is fine, survivors playing against him are terrible. 😂

PS4, crossplay off, both myself and my swf teammate had the game crash on us when we escaped match on Mother's Dwelling against Ghostface. We ran out at about the same time and both our games crashed at same time - I'm on PS4 original and he's on PS4 Pro. This was only our second match of DBD, we both had logged in around same time to play together. When we logged back in we both were sent back to Ash 4 even though I had been Iridescent 3 and he was Silver 1. While I know we would've been reset to Ash anyway tomorrow this is pretty frustrating since it means we will miss out on the grade rewards at reset tomorrow.

  • When I play solo survivor I tend to get matched with good teammates against a pretty evenly matched killer. When I play swf though with 1 other we are getting pretty terrible teammates - just not doing anything helpful and leading killer to teammates. The randoms in swf seem to bring keys most matches and the leave moment they see the hatch where as solo I've only seen couple keys. Killers also seem to camp more when I'm playing swf than when solo. I don't know why there's such a difference in teammates and killers, maybe it's because of my swf teammates rating, but it's not a fun time.

I get they don't want to share what goes into a win but based on just my swf experience where there's more camping and keys I do think they need to clarify what a win is especially if it is more than just escapes/kills.

To be fair, I haven't even seen him on stream. Just like I don't see him in my own games. Its like he doesn't exist!

Since they fixed the crashing issue from first day I've played against him a bunch. He's pretty popular right now on PS4 NA servers with crossplay off.

Streams I've watched they've been playing like non-stop Pinhead while giving out codes. Everyone pointing out how bad the matches are for survivors when they don't stop chain hunt.

  • @Ghouled_Mojo said:

What’s funny is no one in trial will solve the box but you. You’re injured and just been unhooked with a borrowed time on you and you’re now on death hook. The hunt is going and has been going for almost a minute but none of the healthy, unhooked survivors will go for it.

This. Thing that gets me is every single streamer I've watched has said "do the box, it hurts you/team if you don't do the box" and players for once are ignoring what streamers are saying. 😂

  • If I play solo I get better killers and teammates than if I play swf with 1 other.

Solo teammates working together and killers if they don't get a kill atleast have everyone on death hook. Killers leave hook unless survivor is obviously at hook. It feels like good even match up.

SWF either have killer hanging out by the hook while teammates are on other side (atleast one random hiding in corner for the entire time) or killer does leave hook to chase my teammate while the 2 randoms are doing nothing. Killer usually gets 4k or 3k with hatch not because they played well but because 2 of 4 survivors just aren't doing anything to escape like work on gens or go for safe unhooks.

Don't know why there is such a difference in match up between when I'm solo and when I am in swf.

If you are here just to report performance problems, good for you and good on you. But that's far from what I seen being the majority in this thread. It's more BHVR bashing than actual reports.

B4B is NOT a hard game to run. But it checks the AAA talent box so...to be expected. Predator Hunting Ground has some serious performance issues like BAD. Either you played for very minuscule amounts of time, or never played it at all. The majority of people who play on console AND PC will tell you, it's performance is awful on every single platform. Ghost of Tsushima's dev team, Sucker Punch, is a subsidiary of Sony. So checks the "to be expected" box. Zero Dawn was made by another subsidiary of Sony, so again "to be expected"

BHVR self-published DBD. With no huge AAA budget after acquiring rights from Starbreeze.

People have been sharing their frustrations with BHVR since until recently, in part thanks to this post, BHVR has been silent on performance issues and they have continually become worse. If this post was "more bashing BHVR than actual reports" the mods would not only delete the bashing comments but would also close down the post because an over 100 page post bashing BHVR would most certainly go against the forum rules.

I have a feeling any game I list that runs fine on ps4/Xbox one you are going to claim is either a lie or some excuse for why that game can run fine so you can continue to argue that BHVR shouldn't work on making the performance in the game better - performance that is already causing issues on new console.

A mod (who is an employee at BHVR) has already responded directly to you that BHVR is working on performance issues for the platforms you claim can't run DBD. Obviously BHVR feels they have not only the ability but the money to be able to fix the performance issues without players needing to upgrade and without AAA backing you seem to think is required for a game to run well on all platforms.

  • If I see someone attempt escape as I'm running up I turn around because I assume they're trying to hook suicide, anyone that I've saved trying to do that end out being spiteful and try getting everyone killed because they were saved. If they manage to unhook I just head back to my gen to finish it, they can come help finish it if they want a heal.

Okay, and how far are you willing to drag this out? Where is the line? Is it games like BF 2042? Is Dice just lying about the older consoles just cant handle 128 players? Are people expecting the Xbox One and PS4 to play games well into the 2020's? Where is the line?

As a former software developer, this is quite simple...as software/games/whatever become more and more complicated and/or more things the hardware has the juggle, the more unstable something will be.

Look, I'm not here to bash....far from it. I have a Series X myself and I haven't ran into any real performance issues that wouldn't happen on a my PC (just so we're clear, I have a RTX 3070 and a R5 5600x).

To the first point. I would really like to know of these titles your referring to, I really would. The reason I ask because it seems pretty obvious these are more than likely AAA games with ~$50 Million production budgets. We also have to understand the engine. Don't get me wrong UE4 is great, but unless you have some talent and huge budgets...your not going to get the same performance as something like Gears, or one off's like Hellblade. Remember, if something is possible it doesn't mean it's the expectation. I can just as easily say, "Look at games like Ark, or Conan".

What your asking for is probably way to much effort and money for a port that wont be relevant in a few years time. It's as simple as that.

How long? Until BHVR stops supporting the game on those platforms. As long as BHVR continues to support the game on these platforms AND continues to make statements that they will continue to work on fixing performance issues because they "want the game to run smoothly on all platforms" (see last Dev update and Mandy's recent comment) we will continue to hold them accountable to make the game run smoothly on our consoles. This post is pointing out the performance issues that we have experienced so they can fix said performance issues, Mandy has even said the comments/videos in this post have helped.

Back 4 Blood beta is the newest game I played that I experienced no performance issues while playing, either in campaign or versus. Predator Hunting Ground which came out in 2020 was just made free on ps+, tried that out and again no issues. For solo games Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn had no performance issues.

  • @Vizikk said:

I think the realization that the Xbox One and PS4 are on tech (in PC terms) is equivalent to a GPU that is nearing to be 10 years old, and both consoles having CPU's that might as well came from the mid/late 2000's.....it's pretty safe to say....it's time to upgrade. There is nothing weird or wrong about it. People are expecting an old console that wasn't "prime" performance even for it's time, to keep up with titles and updates for what we have now in 2021. Even for someone who plays more on PC (I have a Series X) it would be pretty obvious why my PC wouldn't perform how it does now, in 10 years from now.

Multiple times in this post now people have said this and each time we have responded with...

    1. There are plenty of brand new 2020/2021 games outside DBD that run perfectly fine on our consoles - there have even been videos shared of how smooth other games are running on our consoles. Games that have WAY more going on are not having performance issues like DBD.

    2. DBD is a 5 year old game that has had performance issues for years on console. They promised and never delivered an optimization patch years ago that is much needed because it's the game, not the console, that has the problems.

    3. The new consoles are limited in supply due to chip shortage so the option isn't even there for us to upgrade. Switching to PC as an upgrade would require starting from scratch because there is no cross progression and most of us have put in thousands of hours.

    4. New consoles that haven't even been out a year have started to report performance issues popping up after chapter/mid-chapter patches. Sloppy Butcher which has been consistent trigger on ps4/Xbox one has been reported to cause performance issues on the new consoles. It's the coding, not the console.

Mods have also responded in here to people saying to stop with the "just upgrade" comments because that is not the solution to the performance issues.

Sloppy is pretty awful, I've found it to be the worst on the Crotus Prenn maps tho. Probably cuz of all the smoke and particle effects

Ormond, Crotus Prenn, and Coldwind maps are currently the worst for me with performance issues. Compared to other maps it feels like I not only get more freezes but some of the freezes feel more harsh too.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Okay. Here's my post-patch analysis.

Dead Hard can still freeze the game. It's about 80% fixed, I would say. As seen here, it will still freeze your game.

    https://youtu.be/r6x5OqxmgYQ

There are also unbreakable pallets on the game, but that's less of an optimization issue.

    https://youtu.be/veFTz9Wnjac

I also got a hacker when my Crossplay was turned off, so watch out for that everyone.

I feel like Ormond is a map that enhances the performance issues. I had a match against a Clown there running Sloppy and both myself and my swf teammate were experiencing a 1-2 second freeze just before the hit actually connected - was like the game knew the hit would connect but was freezing to load up the status effect. Sloppy is bad on any map but it's terrible on maps like Ormond that have increased performance issues.

Same clown was also finding people without any sort of informational perk. He was finding players hidden in areas he shouldn't have seen or heard them, sometimes going straight for them across map after a hook like he was running BBQ. Hoping he was just very lucky at finding people and not hacking.

  • The picture used is from DBD Mobile. You get free shards/auric cells from doing challenges on DBD mobile.

  • So I noticed there are some issues with my controller input in matches. At start when I go to run I can't, I just walk slowly until I hit run again. In some chases I'm getting quite a bit of movement issues, like my survivor is drifting to a side instead of running straight or isn't turning when I try to turn. I thought maybe killer was a hacker because it was when he was losing at end of match but it happened again in next match towards end when different killer was losing - it was like the more gens completed the more my survivor wasn't responding well to movement controls. In other games I'm having no controller issues, it's just DBD.

I've run across the map injured to solve the box before it starts chain hunt only to find someone on a gen that's barely started next to it. Like why not do it before hopping on the gen? The chain hunt is about to start and stop you from working on it anyway. 🤦‍♀️

If they just removed the fog altogether entirely it would be better, ik it's supposed to add eerie vibes and make the game darker but honestly it would be a much better game on last gen without all that stuff

Honestly I'd love for them to remove fog all together because, like luck, it's just useless and the offerings are just wasted BP. Look at this fog on Coldwind, it looks like exhaust from an old crappy city bus. That doesn't make this map look creepy, it just looks crappy.

  • @MandyTalk since ps4 fans have become quiet during the "press x to continue" and loading screens since the unnecessary fog effect was removed could you suggest maybe removing the fog and unnecessary smokey effects (like on survivor lobby the smokey/sparkly effect in friend spots when not filled) from lobbies as well? *edit: remove from menus and archives too. Just realized I left those out and just said lobbies, my bad.

I don't think it's a specific reason as such, we chose to not have them hidden. They were hidden on the previous test so that we could get feedback on how matches felt instead of "it doesn't work the ranks were all over the place" due to the colours being shown.

Thanks for answering. I figure right now people are still comparing the grades even though they don't matter so probably focusing on that more than feel until reset will remove that ability.

  • @Sypherpathic said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481889#Comment_2481889

SBMM is active as of today. Theoretically, you should stop worrying about comparing your own grade against others. I guess some people can't mentally grasp it.

That's why I asked why it wasn't hidden. I mean, it was pretty apparent that when they didn't hide them people were judging how it worked based on rank. Until everyone gets reset it's going to be "SBMM isn't working" because they're focusing more on the grade in relation to rank. People would say "rank doesn't matter because people depip on purpose" while saying "what's you rank because I'm red rank so I know what I'm talking about" so not surprised they are still comparing. 😂

  • @Jasix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481824#Comment_2481824

During the test... RANKS were hidden. Since we are now on the GRADE system those do not need to be hidden. Grades are not the same as rank.

While grades are different right now players know what rank they were and the current grade is equal to that. So players are seeing iridescent 4 with Ash 1 or Bronze 3 and are thinking SBMM isn't working because they know Ash 1 was a 17 and Bronze 3 was a 15. If hidden for the time, atleast until reset, it will remove their ability to judge based on grade which currently is what their rank would've been.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2481693#Comment_2481693

Whilst that's technically correct you have to consider that SBMM, whilst collecting data hasn't been used for matchmaking - and we all know the varying skill between ranks. So for example, you could have stomped most of your matches as a killer because you were playing against weaker survivors (despite them being the same rank) and vice versa...which will of course increase your SBMM Score. So it definitely can take some matches before your SBMM score is more accurate.

Is there a reason the rank grades aren't hidden like they were during the last test?

  • Yes, I said it wasn't in my comment. So if Undying is not an anti-gen perk and you can have 2 perks per category how would that stop Ruin/Tinkerer/Undying when Ruin/Tinkerer would fit into your 2 perks under anti-gen and Undying would be under a different category?

  • Tons of players think SBMM has been activate for weeks now even when bhvr said it wasn't so really not surprised that people were making posts about it not working before it was actually activated today.

  • @BenZ0 said:

Trying to understand what you mean is not trolling. If it's not 2 perks per category then what do you mean?
