I wish they'd do something cool with their hacking ability like give everyone lots of BP but instead they have to be lame and try to ruin the matches. It's a shame really.
-
Unfortunately they're probably just hoping you'll DC, at some point they'll finally move on. Record them not letting you open the doors. Once they do finally open the doors and end the match report them for griefing. Send video in support ticket herehttps://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new .
-
They for some reason have the parts cut off different from the mix/match and probably don't want to put time into changing it.

I think they made the recovery so long because otherwise revealing GF would be pointless for survivors, and there’d be no reason to play with any awareness of your positioning for killer. If you could just dip in and out of stealth with very little cooldown, there’d be no reason for survivors to do it and no punishment for killers just running around in stealth and getting revealed left and right.
That said, I think they went overboard and I agree that 30 seconds is too long. 30 seconds is an eternity in DBD, it’s way too long to be a killer with no power. They should reduce it and then nerf the add ons a bit, IMO.
I also think fixing how janky his and Myers’ powers are on dedicated servers would be a big help. I honestly think that’s a big part of the issue with being revealed and it’s a huge issue when stalking.
I find it funny that if Ghostface is revealed you have to wait 30 seconds to go stealth again but if Victor is crushed you can use him again in 6 seconds.

Jennifer's Body, Serial Mom, The Grudge, American Mary - and those are only a few which I, someone who watches very few horror movies, have seen. BHVR literally work with this, and should know horror/thriller movies way better than I do. Also, although the Scream series is licensed, DBD's Ghostface is an original character, whom they decided to make a generic narcissistic guy, for some reason.
Just adding Carrie, Annabelle, Drag Me To Hell, the Nun, The Curse of La Llorona, The Ring, Dead Silence, Misery... There's so many options for licensed female killers.
-
If I don't ready up it's because...
I'm eating something between matches.
I'm using up some BP before the match starts.
I'm playing with my dog between matches.
I'm taking my dog out to pee (sometimes she poops) quick before the match starts.
I ran to the bathroom myself before match starts.
I'm grabbing something to drink.
I'm playing around on my phone, probably looking at social media.
I'm on the forums typing up a response to something and don't notice I'm in a lobby.
-
I want a Serial Mom chapter.
-
I first thought it was a glitch when I was chasing Meg and heard 3 screams when she stepped in a trap. 😂

I don't disagree and I'd love to see console represented this way. I suspect they'd rather not advertise their game performance on any console, especially the prior gen ones, but even with problems cropping up on the new hard to get ones as well. My opinion though.
Yeah, I said before that performance is probably big reason why they won't add console to the Fog Whisperers program and they definitely wouldn't say that out loud. It's really unfortunate console misses out on representation because they've ignored performance issues for such a long time.

I remember reading somewhere their method to give out codes & auric cells (to show off new cosmetics) to the Fog Whisperers can only be done through Steam atm.
I remember seeing that back before they introduced the redeem codes in the store. Now they have the redeem codes for all platforms that's just an old excuse that is no longer acceptable.

I’ve always said I think there would be huge benefit to the dev team having at least 1 person playing on console who could bring some simple QoL changes that would massively improve our experience.
Any sort of controller options would be great, dead zones, acceleration etc.
The fact the PS4 fans actually spin DOWN once a match has loaded, from the insane noise while waiting in lobby.
Being able to unequip perks/items with a button press rather than the clunky virtual mouse pointer we currently have.
There’s a lot of small easy changes that would have a massive impact on the console gameplay experience imo.
Totally agree. Having some console fog whisperers would not only be good for the reasons you listed but also it would lessen the feeling of a PC bias from only having PC fog whisperers. Console needs representation to help hold devs accountable and adding fog whisperers from console is a great way to do it. The current fog whisperers can only do so much when they aren't personally experiencing the console issues, they can only say "I've heard from console players in my community..."

Can you imagine them doing an Into the Fog stream on console with how the performance is?
I think they avoid like the plague, anything that might show the game in a bad light.
I only hope that when they fix these new PC problems, it has a knock on effect and improves console too; though I feel even if not, that these issues will take priority over the ones we’ve been facing all this time.
I watched the first group on a Fog Whisperers stream instead of DBD stream and they were commenting on some of the performance issues they were running into during the match. Don't think you would hear it if watching DBD stream because of the commentators.
Performance issues are probably a big reason for not having console in the program at this point and that's really unfortunate.
-
It will just lead to extremely predictable trap placements - exit gate levers, basement, shack - which will then make the add-on useless. I think your suggestion is much better.

Just a random thought, but why are there no Fog Whisperers from console? I know some console streamers like One_Stalky_Boi get way more viewers than some Fog Whisperers out there and they'd help a ton on exposing console problems. Idk if the program is exclusive to PC, never bothered to read it.
I think it was originally because the codes they gave out were steam only and when they had events like Into the Fog there was no crossplay for console and pc fog whisperers to play together. Now they have redeem codes and crossplay there's really no reason to not have some console fog whisperers.

Make it so that iron will only removes grunts of pain, not sound altogether. For whatever reason iron will stops all breathing sounds when injured, which doesn't make sense to me. Grunts of pain should stay silent. But make it so breathing is still audible.
I was going to say same thing. Just have survivors make same sounds they make while healthy.

I'm worried the Spirit changes are going to hurt performance. The dust makes me think of how the fog already hits performance. The new add-on where she explodes to block vaults I feel like it will cause freezes. 😬
-
Glad they're finally giving Trapper ability to carry more than 1 trap. Still needs bit more love like making the trap spawns not be terrible in dead zones. Would be nice to also make traps darker and have survivors hit with deep wound if they step in traps instead of just being injured.
Happy they're removing moderately, slightly, etc. but they only said for killer - are they going to do same for survivor?
Will need to see how Spirit changes work out. Wonder if the dust kick up will hurt performance on console. That green add-on I feel like is going to cause freezes every time she explodes.
Hoping there are some performance fixes in the mid-chapter patch that they just didn't list in the dev update.

Dude, I'm the same way! I understand killer and survivor. I know the perks and a lot of the add-ons, I know what to look for, I know to do gens and take aggro and stuff. I know not to 99% a gate if I'm not going to stay there to open it. I still usually die because I suck at looping and judging things like speed and distance. And I just do stupid crap in the moment, a lot of times.
I understand the fundamentals and I can do the basics (like gens and aggro and not looping the killer around a hooked survivor), but the SBMM is putting me with survivors who do nothing but stealth around, afraid to do anything other than hide. It [BAD WORD]ing sucks.
This. So much this.
-
Killer I mostly mess around not trying to get kills, I just get basic challenges done so that one isn't bad.
Survivor I'm not having fun. It feels like it did around the anniversary event - killers facecamp/tunnel way more and randoms screw over teammates more often so they can just grab hatch to escape instead of using teamwork. It really makes me want to play less.

Iirc, they also made light of Console issues in one of their boycott discussion videos, but I could be mistaken. Even if I'm not, people are allowed to change their opinions.
Regardless, it's unfortunate they are having issues and it further lends credence to the theory that this isn't a hardware issue.
I watched both of them at the time and just rewatched. Nothing about console in first. In second she says how game feels bad on pc and on console is terrible, while no personal experience on console she's heard from her community how it was on console. During this she did mention that apparently in comments of first video there was a disconnect she didn't know where it came from so maybe that is where you heard she belittled console?
Rewatching her second video she mentions that she has brought up stutters/freezes to bhvr. Now she's tweeting about performance issues it will hit larger audience with that especially since it takes 2 seconds to read the tweet over waiting 25 minutes of a 38 minute video to hear her talk about performance issues. Also with direct link to bhvr as fog whisperer as she mentions in the video it's interesting she's reaching out on Twitter for help now for any fixes people may have.
-
Because...
I have challenge to escape through hatch with a map or escape through hatch and I didn't bring/find a key.
I have "have x survivors escape while you're still alive" challenge.
If someone is injured I wait to make sure they're good.
I didn't find my red/blue glyph during the match or crappy performance issues caused me to screw up skill checks on yellow glyph and now I'm trying to get the stupid glyph before time runs out.
Looking for killer so they can kill me.

It is against forum rules to tag mods or devs.
Wasn't always like this, but they changed it recently. I guess they got tired of people tagging them for bs.
Forum rules only say you cannot tag Devs. Nothing about not tagging mods.
-
Regular slugging where you bleed out in 4 minutes is not reportable.
If you face the same killer in multiple matches and each time they slug you (and only you) to death they'd be targeting you and could be reported for griefing - you'd need video proof to show they targeted you in multiple matches.
There is a way to extend the bleedout, similar to the old mori spamming where it would take 10 minutes for the eventual bleedout, that would be reportable for griefing - again, would need video proof.
-
We have a fog whisperer tweeting about experiencing performance issues on PC. I know they've said they're working on fixing performance issues but here's hoping they're moved up further on priority if it's hurting fog whisperer experience.
-
They really need to hide grades like they did the ranks during last mmr test. No reason to show them especially since they have 0 to do with matchmaking.
-
@Peanits said:
This is normal. When you play a Killer for the first time, the game will base your rating on your other Killers rather than the default/lowest rating. From there, it'll adjust separately as you play. If you have a few bad matches, your rating with that Killer will lower and you'll start to get paired with Survivors that you're more comfortable with. If you're a natural with that Killer, it'll stay the same or even increase depending on how well you're doing.
If someone plays in SWF, let's say they have high mmr while teammate has low how does the game match them? Will the high MMR be placed in matches closer to the low MMR teammate? Or vice versa? Or do they get a middle ground match up?
-
Every time the "unhook someone that previously unhooked you" challenges pop up it ends out being a miserable time for me. I'm just glad it's not to do it 2 times in one match because it's basically throwing the match to complete it and matches just suck while people try to get it done. I'm saving that challenge for last and just getting it done naturally rather than trying to throw the game for it.
-
I want something like this so bad on the endgame screen instead of showing everyone's BP.
-
Yes, they're only there to increase the grind. At this point, with how big DBD has become, the game has enough grind it doesn't need perk tiers.
-
I just want them all to be not linked and if not free then available for iridescent shards with sale of 9000 shards per outfit like they did last year.

Maybe it's the "searching for a match" screen? I remember that one really hurting the PS4 fans.
That one still has my fans going crazy. Main menu, the survivor/killer lobbies when you search for a match, pre-game lobby, and archives all are still the worst for ps4 fans. If the fix was for one of those I don't think it worked.

It looks like IIS means "splash screen" https://games-guides.com/dead-by-daylight-patch-notes-1-74-update-3-2-2/
Which is really weird that this note is included in today's patch because the splash screen seemed to stop overheating the PS4 with its red-hued update in the Cenobite Chapter release.
Maybe they forgot to include it on the chapter release patchnotes? Or does IIS stand for something else and in the 3.2.2 patch it was whatever IIS is for the splash screen which is why they specified? Like if they specified fixing something with UI in your lobby v UI in game, they could say HUD (lobby).

So nothing really fixed in this update?
I was really hyped when they improved dead hard and was hoping they will follow in next updates like they said they will. We had like two already (right?) with nothing impactful.
I'm guessing fixes like those will be saved for the chapter/mid-chapter patches.

Anytime a survivor DCs an animation should play, something like the EGC sacrifice animation. The hatch should open at the end of the animation similar to it opening at end of hook sacrifice animation. This prevents hatch from instantly opening and would give killer some time to get to the hatch like they would if survivor was sacrificed on hook.

Is there any sort of advantage when playing with Crossplay off?
When I had crossplay on it was when it was first activated. My waits were longer and the already bad console performance felt way worse with crossplay on.
Since you're on ps5 if you turn off crossplay you will only be matched with other ps5 players that also turn off crossplay. You will not be matched with both ps5 and ps4 because while both are playstations they are considered different platforms for crossplay. Since you would only be matched with other ps5 players that turned off crossplay your waits will probably be longer because not only do others need crossplay off but there are only so many that have upgraded to a ps5.
-
I'm on ps4 with crossplay off. Survivor until about 8pm is pretty quick while killer can be slow, then around 8pm it switches. I haven't had any of the 10+ minute waits everyone else talks about but that could be based on when I'm playing and the side I'm playing at the time. When survivor waits start to slow down is when I either stop playing or switch to killer because the random teammates I get are pretty terrible to play with compared to the rest of the time. I also stopped playing on weekends so don't know how waits are then.
-
PS4 fans are still ridiculously loud in menus/lobbies/archives so whatever that overheat fix was it didn't help the fan situation.
@GrimoireWeiss said:
Just played a match on RCPD that had like 15 FPS. They really need to split that map in half, not just for gameplay, but it runs terribly right now.
Today had a match as survivor on that map. Sloppy freezes are bad but that map is one where they feel even worse. Following match on Hawkins the Sloppy freezes weren't as hard as they were on RCPD. On Hawkins the freeze happened when I was hit, on RCPD the freeze started before I was even hit and felt like it lasted longer.
-
Good question, I really just focused on the fixed overheating. @MandyTalk could you let us know what exactly IIS is in this patch note on PS4?
-
Make it silent kick on everything - pallet, door, or gen.
-
Was looking at Update History for patch notes on recent patch on my ps4 and saw this one about fixing overheating. Not sure why this wasn't included in patch notes on social media when a PC only one was but for you PS4 players it's good to know. See if also maybe helps with performance?
-
Rancor is "once all generators are completed" you can kill the obsession by your own hand not "once exit gates are powered." Closing the hatch only applies to perks that say "once exit gates are powered." Same how closing hatch doesn't activate pig's traps, only completing gens does.
-
It's the killer staring at you across the campfire.
-
I'd opt out of playing against Twins, I'd much rather play against a Spirit.
-
If you're on Steam you have Playstation, Xbox, Switch, Windows Store and Google Stadia all having the globe when you play with/against them. On PS4 DBD was free with ps+ a few years ago and Xbox it is free on game pass. There's those on those 2 platforms that also bought it when not available on ps+ or game pass so just between Xbox and Playstation alone you have a fairly large player base that has DBD.

Idk about treating them as if they are purposefully sabotaging the game. I've had 2 occasions of going AFK mid match for too long. Once after loading in I coughed and diarrhea'd my entire dinner into my pants, no WAY was I gonna play out a match while sitting in my own filth lol obviously I left to clean myself up. The other time my controller died and couldn't find my replacement batteries, ended up having to quickly drive to the 7/11 next to my house to get new ones. I came back and was surprisingly still alive but had been hooked once haha
It seems like quite a few think it's some plan to sabotage the game when really it's just random things taking you away from the game either before you even load into a match or mid-match.
There was a time I was afk as survivor for a match. I had left the room while on the survivor lobby screen, I had left my controller on my couch and I guess my dog had hit the ready button when she walked over and laid down in my spot. When I came back in the room an Oni was carrying me out the exit, letting teammates farm points to pick me up and then hitting me out the door. I don't know how it happened but I gained a pip and got decent BP for not having played that match. Oni definitely could've, and should've, killed me for the points but it was nice of him to make the effort to force me out.
I've had plenty of times where before a match starts I think I have plenty of time to take my dog out and by time she's gone to the bathroom and I get her back in I'm already on a hook in a match or standing under a hook with crows because I was hooked atleast once already.
-
As survivor? I ignore them and hope killer focuses on just getting them out of the game.
As killer it depends. Most times I use them to let other survivors farm unhooks/heals, I play killer mostly for easy BP and farming is quick and easy without stress of trying to actually get kills/hooks. I've used them for tome challenges like hitting survivor from x meters away with hatchet. If I have a sacrifice challenge I just quickly sacrifice them and move on to playing rest of match.
-
Previous rift challenges the event items didn't count as an ultra rare.
I run plunderers when the ultra rare item challenges pop up, that way I'm less likely to get a killer running Franklin's or tunneling me out for bringing key/map.
-
@Schardon said:
I'm wondering why there are no survivor challenges like that.
Idk...something like "Escape the trial without touching a gen and totems for the first 3 minutes of the game".
Would be kinda funny. :D
Blue Glyph challenges of "find glyph and escape" are basically that. Many survivors don't do anything until they find their glyph and then they do their best to avoid killer (like hide in corner) so they can escape.
Hide within 10 meters of killer for 30-60 seconds keeps popping up, that's another one where survivors just don't do anything.
@anarchy753 said:
First it's Clown with his "make survivors go faster instead of trying to hit them," now Huntress gets "disable your own power for at least half the game."
There's a serious difference between a "challenge" where you try to do something impressive as a killer and show some skill, and these aberrations that force you to either throw a game doing something dumb, or lose because you're running an absolute meme build for it.
I feel like every tome there's a bunch of challenges on both sides that just encourage bad/unfun gameplay for both sides.
The EGC challenges were terrible. Killers would have to basically let survivors do all gens so EGC could start, survivors would sandbag teammates or need to be in swf where teammates were OK possibly getting themselves killed during EGC to have someone to unhook.
-
Yesterday had a match where during the first chase the killer's Ruin and Undying were cleansed. As they were carrying the first downed survivor to a hook their Haunted Grounds was cleansed. The Killer DC'd before they hooked the survivor. My swf teammate and I couldn't help but laugh - why do a hex perk load out if you're just going to DC when your totems get cleansed.
