Please can we have some of your brightness? Looking forward to playing Freddy so I can actually see!

    sketch-1661366005678.png

I hopped on KYF as killer for pic since killer tends to be darker than survivor so imagine this screenshot a bit brighter/clearer for survivor (can perfectly see the colors on breakable wall as survivor). I always find it so sad when I see a killer trying to hide in that room because I know if they're PC they think that room is way darker.

  • On PS4 it's not dark at all in the house. It's like playing on cornfield map it's so bright in there.

  • I wouldn't do that to someone I call a friend. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  • I've had successful end game basement saves and I've had ones that were not going to work out. It all depends on skill/coordination with the other players during the match, skill of the killer, and basement location/distance to the doors.

  • The only time I might rescue someone attempting escape is if I have an unhook someone that previously unhooked you challenge, otherwise they can move right on to the next match. I genuinely don't care if someone doesn't want to be in the match, if they're not having fun they probably won't be a good teammate anyway. I'd rather those teammates than the ones that just spend the entire match being useless - atleast I know it's a 3v1 because someone left not because they chose to stay in the match and do nothing except locker hop in the basement until hatch.

  • Hopefully they'll add something basekit to counter camping instead of a single perk locked behind a pay wall.

Hopefully they'll also add some sort of BP for the hooked survivor that is spending extra time on the hook and unable to earn BP either because they are being camped or because their teammates just want to use the perk they bought.

  • Rarely if ever. Usually the survivors are bringing medkits or flashlights, if they're bringing a toolkit it's one with addons for sabo.

  • My SWF teammate and I used to give killers kills all the time back during ranked matchmaking because odds were we would still pip or atleast safety pip. Now it's rare we'll do it with SBMM because we already rarely escape.

  • Nope. I might try to win a code for the chapter from a fog whisperer stream but I'm not spending my money on it. I'm not interested in playing as the survivors and I have a feeling the perks worth running will get nerfed fairly quick anyway.

  • Rank - randoms made more risky end game plays because even if they died they could safety or gain a pip. Now they chose escape over risky save of random since nothing but own survival matters. Also feel like I get way more teammates that spend the match hiding because they're less likely to die if they hide instead of working on gens or saving teammates. I wish they just tweaked the rank system.

Feng gets all the new cosmetics because she's the most popular survivor.

    It's also circular logic.

The more good cosmetics Feng gets, the more popular she's going to become. After all, she has all the good cosmetics!

I don't know about anyone else but I am so sick of Feng's voice that I'm starting to develop PTSD when I hear her cries of pain.

I've always hated Fengs voice. It's so whiney and it doesn't stop.

  • The characters with 80+ cosmetics already can all take a backseat until the other characters catch up. If they can't do that then they should stop putting out new characters because there's no point in buying/playing new original survivors if they're just going to be ignored while one's with tons of cosmetics already keep having more added to their collections.

  • If survivor is on hook for multiple gens killer will be more likely to tunnel that survivor to secure a kill since they'll be a hook state closer to death.

  • I wish we had those as the hud pics, they look so much better.

  • A survivor on a hook already causes a slowdown because it's one survivor not working on gens.

None of those perks help even in the slightest. Boil over is so easy to counter its laughable, Flip flop only does something if you are playing against a killer that is slugging, and break out only works if you are willing to down yourself by getting hit twice to help someone get off the killers shoulder. Maybe try all these perks out before suggesting that they are useful in anyway.

The perks are there to increase your chance to wiggle off, not guarantee it. I have used the perks, sometimes I had success and other times I didn't. When I used them I knew that they wouldn't 100% prevent me from getting hooked, they'd just increase my odds to wiggle free.

Boil Over I've had the most success when I've run it because unless I go down under a hook the hiding of the nearby hook auras make the killer have a harder time trying to hook me. Sure the killer knows to counter it once they know I have it but odds are they'll be wasting time first looking for hook before picking me up which gives my teammates more time to work on gens.

  • I booped a pig I played against the other day, was good match. I saw her at start of match heading towards me so I crouch walked over. When she saw me doing that she crouched so I could boop then we went to play normal. She downed me a couple times. She put her trap on me both times and got her 2 hooks but then pretty much left me alone rest of the match. She let 2 others go, not sure why she only killed one - maybe they didn't boop her.

Before SBMM I'd boop pigs all the time, would die doing it. Now that only escapes/kills for mmr and I die way more often I'm less likely to die just to boop a pig, I have to be in the right mood to try it.

Yes, the RE Chapter was a massive issue on Xbox One and PS4, and even some PC's.

RPD caused crashes for months. Nemesis caused severe freezing issues for months. The game was essentially unplayable for a month or so. While it has gained back what it lost, there haven't really been any improvements. The same triggers remain and little seems to be done about them.

If you have clips or just want to see some of the videos from the time, please check out the thread.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245229/the-continued-ignorance-of-performance-issues-continues-to-hamper-player-fun

Didn't the RE chapter nearly brick your Xbox, like it crashed and then you couldn't get the power back on for hours? Or am I thinking of someone else?

  • Are you grabbing the survivor out of the trap? Survivors just stepping in the trap or you hitting them while they are in the trap doesn't count, you have to grab them out of the trap. When you walk up to them there should be a prompt to grab them out of the trap instead of hit them. Devs should adjust the wording to be more clear.

  • You're not supposed to easily wiggle off without any help. That's why there's perks like Boil Over, Flip Flop, and Break Out. Wiggling is also optional, if you're not a fan just don't wiggle.

  • For a random it depends on alot of things. Do I have an escape challenge? Have I died multiple matches in a row and finally can escape? How was this teammate playing during the match? Did the hide the entire time or were they the mvp? What killer is it and how did they play during the match? Is it even worth the attempt? Or is it more likely I'm just giving the killer an extra kill? Am I in the mood to attempt a risky save? Would I make this attempt for my swf teammate?

  • The game performance was so bad it was causing crashes after the first RE chapter came out, BHVR turned off DC penalties for a bit because of it. They also shut off RPD for a while because it caused a large increase in performance issues.

This post was started before the RE chapter was released because console was already having performance issues. When the RE chapter came out people used this post to keep track of all the performance issues, some posting videos including Pulsar who was using an Xbox one at the time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/245229/the-continued-ignorance-of-performance-issues-continues-to-hamper-player-fun/p1

  • They could make it so hook explosion from unhook is feature of Hangmans Trick since right now it's a pretty useless perk, especially with Awakened Awareness being added to the game.

But it'd probably just end up encouraging more killers to camp because they won't have that noise notification from the unhook.

  • I think make it so you can attempt escape if someone uses Reassurance which like normal if you fail several times you're pushed into struggle. Reassurance pauses skill checks only the first time it's activated on the hooked survivor during struggle. After that first use runs out the skill checks return (make them one size entire time instead of getting smaller) and it's up to the hooked survivor if they want to stay in game or miss 2 skill checks and die like normal. This way the hooked survivor, if willing to stick around, still earns BP and has option to stop at anytime.

I also think if Reassurance is used the hooked survivor should receive % gens completed and distraction points so they aren't punished with 0 BP from spending extended period of time on the hook if they're choosing to stick around and help out their team with camping killer.

By the logic of the mod post, camping is hostage taking. Hostage taking means that the game cannot end, so since the other survivors can do gens, open the gate thus starting the end game collapse which lasts 2-4 min, and force have the game end, it's not hostage taking. Then spawn camping and constantly killing/targeting the same person in a shooter is hostage taking too.

The other day I was against a nurse who slugged 3 of us (with 1 person dead) and made us bleed out for 3 minutes. Wouldn't that be hostage taking too?

I'm against people who do that, and think people who play like that need to be removed from the game, but objectively speaking the term "hostage taking" isn't correct here.

Camping and slugging both not only have a set time limit but there are perks and ways to get out of those situations. Being blocked in a corner for the match there is no way to get out of that situation unless the killer moves or hits you which is why it's considered holding the game hostage for that survivor.

I did file a report/ticket, but it made me wonder because technically either side could end the game, but the killer held one person hostage majority of the game, so the couldn't do anything at all

The killer is 100% reportable simply because they started blocking Feng before EGC and was preventing Feng from playing the game (Mandy, Peanits, and multiple mods have confirmed this in different posts). I don't think the survivors would be since they have reason to not start EGC (objective to save teammate) but if they were reported it'd need to be done by the Feng who had to rely on everyone else for game to end. If killer tried it would be "survivors wouldn't open door to start EGC while I body blocked this healthy Feng in a corner" which I think would just be laughed at by the devs.

  • I can go around getting extra BP breaking pallets I missed and finding/closing hatch while survivor is in exit or chase them out of the gate if I really want to.

I get no BP waiting for sacrifice animation to end so that's more annoying.

  • We could have a Congo DLC and have Bruce Campbell's character from that movie so we could have 2 different Bruce survivors. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • If you have video the killer can be reported for griefing the Feng because they held the game hostage for that player - doesn't matter that you finished gens/opened gate to start EGC, if they were blocking the Feng for some time before you finished gens then they were preventing the Feng from being able to play.

Once gens are finished if you're not opening gates while someone is body blocked that would be something Mandy would have to answer.

To me while you aren't forcing the game to end the killer has put you in a spot where you're at a stalemate because you want to help your teammate escape and they want to force a kill via EGC or just make the survivor DC. At most both would be at fault but I'd say killer more so because you still have an objective - save your teammate - and they are refusing to play, they have just stayed blocking the survivor refusing to down them.

The crazy thing is that, at Iri grades as survivor, you can do gens, escape and still depip because there was an MMR mismatch and the Killer didn't Inflict enough harm for Altruism or chase you for Boldness because the Killer was too busy chasing a god looper in a strong tile.

    Depips should go.

This. Depips are not necessary since grades are no longer used for matchmaking. If it just shows time played like devs have said then remove negative pips, only have safety and +1&2 pips. Getting negative pips when I finally have a good match makes me want to play less not more.

Don't worry, they'll add some random nerf to it so people won't want to use it.

    hahaha ๐Ÿ˜‚

I'll have to find those. I want to start re-living my 90s childhood ๐Ÿ˜‚

Paramount + has alot of the 90s Nickelodeon shows on there although some will be missing episodes or entire seasons which is a bummer.

  • Window blinds go for the cheap ones that you pull to roll it down then do slight tug to roll up - while not necessarily fashionable they are cheap and do what you need. Avoid ones that have strings to adjust since that would attract the kitties to want to play with it.

Double sided tape for things they are scratching that you don't want them to scratch. They usually aren't a fan of the feel of it. Petshops usually sell wide rolls of it. Also when you're not sitting in the chair put a sheet of foil on top, cat jumps up and usually the slight sound scares them off. If not scared off usually they won't think to scratch at metal and would just lay down instead.

Sisal scratch posts tend to be more durable than carpet scratch posts. You can sprinkle a little catnip on the post of the cats seem a bit hesitant about it.

I used a furminator when I had a big fluff ball of a cat and it worked amazing. With cats though you can constantly brush them but you'll still have tons of fur every where, it just comes with having a cat. I recommend grabbing a couple couch covers you can alternate to make it easier to manage the fur getting on your furniture.

If they are puking up alot of hair balls you'll want to either use a food that is designed to help with hairballs or use a supplement - since you do have kittens just double check with vet about using hairball supplement with them. I had to use hairball food, and later on when my cat was older and had to be put on prescription diet for old kitty medical issues I had to use hairball supplement since it was no longer in his regular food. Using those it was very rare I'd see a hairball, before I used them he would constantly be throwing up hairballs.

No litter is dust free unfortunately. Clay litter is the most dusty. The paper litter has the least. If you use the crumbled paper litter instead of pellets it should clump. They sell some at Petco and fun fact (since I used to work there) they have their brand paper litter that's packaged for cats and ones packaged for small animals buuuut it's the exact same thing - even scented/unscented. So if you use that litter and it's on sale for small animals but not cat you can save money buying the small animal one.

Oh my God "Salute Your Shorts" lol That's right up there with "Pete and Pete" and "All That"

Also . . . "It's 'I hope we never part!' Now get it right or pay the price!"

I loved all of those. 90s Nickelodeon was the best. I'm glad they're all available to stream so I can relieve my childhood. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • I don't think there will be any significant changes to perks when the chapter is released. I think they'll hold off on any nerfs until the first mid-chapter after the DLC is released. They'll leave things as is to sell the DLC and then nerf at mid-chapter.

  • When survivor struggle is cut short due to game mechanic and not survivor giving up struggling they should give the survivor the BP they miss out on. Just because devs removed struggle to save time doesn't mean survivors should miss out on that BP.

  • I loved Are You Afraid of the Dark? when I was growing up. SNICK had the best line up of shows. It's fun rewatching it and recognizing some of the actors in their more recent stuff, like the hippie chick in locker episode is now on the Goldbergs.

If we get DLC from our childhood I'd want Zeke the Plumber from Salute Your Shorts. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • It should've been added as a general perk just like they added boon breaking perk to general perks on killer side instead of locking it behind a licensed DLC pay wall.

  • I think alot are because people aren't having fun, not necessarily because they don't think they'll win. It's both survivors and killers - both will quit for various reasons, just odds are you'll see survivors more because there's 4 survivors for every 1 killer. Both sides will give up when they come across maps, load outs, or playstyles they have faced before and didn't find fun - even if they have won against them before.

Alot of the player base is casual players. They may pop in for a few matches after work/school but that's about it. Since they only play a few matches they aren't going to stick around in a match they aren't having fun in.

  • You were both being rude to eachother and it was pretty tame from both sides. You should probably just close the chat if that was too much for you because the stuff that is actually bannable is so much worse.

  • I'm still getting the grade progress error after several matches. Happens if I play killer or survivor, both solo and swf.

    _20220818_153746.JPG

  • I have fun playing as Doctor but I enjoy making people scream over and over. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Playing against him used to be absolutely miserable but they've nerfed him plenty to get rid of the worst builds to play against. I way prefer his blast over the old you continually build up madness just being in his terror radius. Now the main issue is if he camps he can prevent you from unhooking, other than that he's not bad to play against.

  • There's like 17 different realms. I want them to rework it so the 5 players won't go to the realm they were just in the previous match to prevent back to back matches on the same map. Then make it so the offering prevents you from going to the realm. If they did this even if all 5 players played a different map offering there would still be 7 realms they could be sent to.

  • I much rather the just "escape" challenges instead of "escape through hatch" or "escape after doing something that is basically throwing the game" challenges.

I'm more annoyed by the Claudette master challenge being stuck behind two killer challenges when the killer q takes forever for a match. Shouldn't have survivor challenges blocked by killer challenges or killer challenges blocked by survivor challenges.

  • Before the midchapter my survivor q would be fast and killer would be slow during day until about 7 or 8pm ET, then they'd switch. Now my survivor wait is always instant and killer is always really long no matter the time of day. Usually I'd do most of the killer tome challenges but this time I've only done a couple that blocked survivor challenges because the wait for a killer match is too long.

  • @Iron_Einherjar said:

As someone who's been on three ends of this:

    1) Killer searching for last two sneakies - Iron Maiden shuts this down quickly, there hasn't been a single time this has happened while playing Trickster or Huntress that didn't resolve itself immediately by perk or idle crow

    2) One person is still playing, but the second is hiding - Killer has searched hi and low, and not even aura reading perks aren't helping. Try to recruit the other survivor, chances are they have seen them while downed. Pick them up and let them escape, give them a nod, hit the gen or hook and shake no. Chances are if you pantomime enough, they will eventually understand the other teammate is actively betting on them getting killed so they can try for hatch and lead you to the hiding person. Rewarding helpful player with hatch should be customary. I've been on both sides of this one. It's almost ALWAYS worth an investigation when the killer isn't robotically seeking to hook everything in sight, though it can be hard to portray that info to the survivor at times through the limited gestures one can do as killer

    3) You're both on death hook, and the killer prioritizes a 3 gen all within visual range from the start leaving you with the options to wait for the killer to actively search other places so you can try to double team the gen, get halfway done before having to hop off and hide again, and watch as they camp the gen while Call of Brine + Overcharge undoes all your progress and guarantees the killer sits there for another 10 minutes. Or just throwing the match.

"But this is taking match hostage!" No, in this instance it's the KILLER forcing a stalemate. Sure, the Survivors can't progress while Killer camps gens, but if the Killer doesn't have the skills to find the hiding Survivors and just camps gens nothings getting done. Unless you're expecting the Survivors to just throw themselves at your hook it's up to killer to search, A strategy I've used to end these stalemates is to let them get the final gen meanwhile finding a good place with line of sight on both the gates. Yes, it's gambling whether you're actually going to improve on the 2K you already have, but it's better than sitting around and complaining the survivors won't line up to be killed

Finally, as for the fourth situation: Full team members remaining, and all are full Bush Wookie mode, this is just trolling, and just like the eternal stun bully squads, the strategy falls apart if you just leave the area, not engaging, not walking into the trap, and breaking their formation. It kills the strategy. A fun way to do this is to turn the tables yourself, going pseudo-AFK in a killer shack can get them to come down with a deadly case of curiosity. Next level fun when using Infinite Tombstone Myers and replicating the AFK macro of swinging every few seconds while slowly amassing stalk. They will panic once you hit tier 2, but if you don't move and just continue swinging, they WILL come back to continue grinding heals, blinds, and time spent nearby allowing you to hit Tier 3 and pretty much guaranteeing 1-2 instant Moris

Now as for the people asking for changes to gameplay specifically to counter this, I'll offer you the same "It's a valid strategy!" as so many are willing to spout in defense for slugging, camping, and tunneling. BOTH "strategies" have perk reliant counters already present in game, BOTH offer a great disservice to the receiving party, and BOTH shouldn't be penalized without properly addressing the other. And defending one while damning the other is nothing but hypocrisy.

With #2 if a survivor does that it is considered working with the killer which is reportable. The other survivor would just need to send down video proof - which killer letting someone go and them leading killer to hidden survivor is pretty obvious.

  • They should remove negative pips. Losing pips definitely enhances the feeling of "wasted" game. Just have 0, +1, and +2 pips.

  • Why are you making daily nerf Prove Thy Self posts instead of sticking to the posts you already made?

Most still don't want to use perk slot for it. Killers could get something in return basekit corrupt or BBQ.

I will trade basekit Kindred that includes the killer aura for basekit BBQ. Make them tier 1 level, if you want further distance need to run the perks. Plenty of survivors will hop in lockers to avoid killer seeing their aura but that also means they can't see killers aura if they immediately left the hook.
