Being slugged.
The custom music on every killer. I miss hearing the original music on them more often, wish I had an option for that.
Teammates working with the killer/sandbagging.
Teammates that don't do anything but hide all match.
The pick up item button being tied to the interaction button so if someone is hooked in the basement on same hook someone with item died on you go to pick up item instead of unhook.
Default controller buttons for survivor have action and interactions as same button instead of separate.
Maurice no longer being in the game. 😔
-
Boons are supposed to be powerful but we have Boon Dark Theory which is a pretty weak perk for a boon totem.
-
30 minutes should be max. If it goes that long match ends in a draw. Survivors get escape points, killers get sacrifice points, everyone moves on to new match.

This isn't basekit anti-slugging. It was a fix to allow the new Mori system to work, because without basekit Unbreakable the game would shift from hooks to slugs as the main objective of the killer.
It in fact encourages "slugging for the 4K" even more:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/348083/basekit-unbreakable-is-a-cursed-wish
An actual anti-slugging mechanic would be if the activation conditions of these two features were switched.
If when and only when all survivors are hooked/downed/sacrificed, then survivors or at least one survivor has the ability to pick themselves back up, then slugging would be a dead mechanic, because it would be literally impossible to keep every survivor on the ground at once.
Instead what we have is "slugging every survivor" as a new goal for killers, and the easiest way to win a game, with basekit Unbreakable implemented as a minor handicap to make that task a little harder.
The slugging for the 4k becomes less effective and more effort because the slug can pick themself up. If the killer leaves to go find the other survivor the slug can pick themself up then hop on a gen on one side of the map while the other survivor stays by gens on other side. Being able to split up and be on separate gens increases the chances of the survivors being able to complete the final gen if the killer tries slugging for the 4k. If the killer decides to stay by the slugged survivor the other survivor can finish their gen, open a door, and help the other survivor escape or just escape by themself. Removing the need for the last 2 survivors to be near eachother makes slugging for 4k less successful. The killer has a higher risk of having 2 escape instead of just 1 escaping via hatch if they try slugging for the 4k with the basekit anti-slugging and it makes slugging for 4k take way more effort than it currently does. They're better off just hooking the survivor instead of slugging them.
The finale mori also ends killers slugging last survivor for 3 minutes 59 seconds and then either picking them up to carry to hook and have survivor sit through hook animation or killing survivor with a mori and having them sit through that animation to waste more of the survivors time just because they can.
I'm happy they're adding an anti-slug mechanic that prevents me from being slugged at 5 gens just because the killer wants to use a survivor as bait for 4 minutes at 5 gens, especially if they're running Knock Out where my teammates have no idea where I am. My teammates now can just focus on gens if the killer is refusing to hook survivors.

I actually really like the new announced changes.
I like the base-kit unbreakable. 45 seconds is quite a long time to pick someone up and get them on the hook, and it helps to reduce using slugging as a primary strategy rather than an opportunistic or last resort one. Which is really not fun for your opponents, but very reliable on some killers. Slugging when done opportunistically will still be valuable, you are still chasing and downing a second person while having 1 person on the floor doing nothing. Then, after the first guy gets up, he will also be an easy target to come back to once you're done with the person you slugged him to chase.
In return, the killer has a more powerful end game because heal tech is significantly nerfed. Additionally, 1 or 2 mistakes is all it takes for survivors to be put in a position where they are 45 seconds away from complete loss of the match.
I think base kit unbreakable is a lot more underwhelming than many people think it is. The reason unbreakable is so threatening is that you can't know whether a survivor actually has it, so you're taking a risk every time you choose to slug. When you know everyone has it at 45 seconds, you're always going to play around that, and thus even equipped unbreakable will be less valuable by comparison.
The killer hurt the most by this change is twins because she is forced to slug a lot but we all know the twins is in dire need of an update and the devs know she needs changes too. At one point she was on the chopping block for changes but the update never came around I assume because it was pushed back by other updates. Condemn only slugdako is obviously hurt a lot, but I don't think many people apart from one pump willie are shedding a tear for that because let's be honest it's not the most engaging gameplay in the world. Moonwalk chasing survivors holding tapes. Slugging literally everyone you down. Focusing one person out early. None of these things are desirable gameplay traits.
Other than that blights and nurse's choosing to 4 man slug as their primary strategy will be much less effective, but I think these S tier killers will find a way to cope with the new state of things...
In reality, I don't think 45 second unbreakable is going to affect gameplay significantly for most killer. Actually, equipping unbreakable is more powerful than before in that you can it more than once. However, the value of doing it more than once is diminished by the fact that without it can stand up all you want anyway, it just makes that happen faster. Unbreakable remains the hard counter to slugging, even though slugging is overall less effective than before.
People aren't going to suddenly start using tons of new infinite unbreakables.
Look at BT. Even 5 seconds being basekit resulted in most people dropping the perk completly. 10 seconds being base kit even more so. Yes BT is more powerful than before, but people still don't use it much. The same will happen here.
Agreed. I think both are good changes. I have no more to add without just repeating your post.
-
Agreed. I'm so happy about this change.
-
Paranoid. Hatch spawns are decided at start of the match, it's pure luck when it spawns next to a survivor. I've seen the hatch spawn next to the last survivor just as often as I've seen the killer instantly close it because it spawned next to them.

You say this like the killer always has a choice on where to hook a survivor.
If a killer sees someone sabotaging a hook closer to the center in that situation, expecting them to not use another hook available in a corner to them on the chance that it might be a problem later is silly. Permanent hook destruction on sacrifice was never a good mechanic to begin with and it’s outdated. This change will just make it even more of an issue since it no longer has any counter in the event that it actually becomes an issue.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3201494#Comment_3201494
I think that’s fine. I’m completely okay with them still being destroyed for a little while as long as it’s not for the rest of the match, so as to still keep some sort of strategy element there especially in regards to scourge hook management. And hangman’s trick needed a buff regardless of these changes.
I think if they had the hooks broken for 3 minutes like current Breakdown that'd be good. That's 2 gens worth of time for a hook to be broken - long enough to make Hangmans Trick (if buffed) worth running and threatening enough for killers to consider where they are hooking someone to avoid temporary dead zone but avoids possibility of permanent dead zone.
-
Definitely add hooks BUT make sure they aren't put in spots where the killer can body block a doorway/stair case preventing survivors from reaching the hook or the hook is positioned in a way where you can only unhook from 1 side instead of 3.
-
If the survivors are just going to be instantly sacrificed anyway I don't really see the point in removing the moris from these perks.
Devour Hope I don't see get to mori level most times it's run. Rancor the killer tends to camp/tunnel out the obsession first so they don't even get to the gens being completed for a mori.
-
I think Hangmans Trick should get back it's "bring back permanently destroyed hooks" ability to the perk. I think it would be a good buff to an ignored perk. I would be ok with basekit broken hooks from sacrifice returning as long as they are gone for an extended time and Hangmans brings them back faster. Killers should have to be aware of what resources they are using so they need to strategize atleast a little when it comes to hooking survivors but with anti-slugging I can see it causing a lose/lose if a survivor suicides or is left there for 2 minutes by teammates causing a dead zone that could've otherwise been avoided.
-
Just don't down the last survivor if you're giving them the escape? If you want to farm with them you can do that without downing them.
As for hooks they probably are adjusting the points for BP/emblems when it comes to the last survivor mori. If it's old tome challenges they will need to adjust those to count the final mori.
-
You grab survivors with the Tombstone add-on you don't down/slug them to use it.

Yes, pretty much. Shame these people aren't more capable of showing empathy and compassion when they debate.

@bm33 got half of it but to me the other half of it along with that is that commonly, the "snarky" replies are the ones that get upvoted a ton and that's always a fun little ego boost
Even for myself, about half of my posts I would wager are vote fishing (though I do it by making jokes and references and whatnot, not being a jerk and trying to dunk on someone). It's just kind of nature of the beast on The Internet.
Add to the fact that this can be a VERY different game for people (killer mains, survivor mains, solo mains, SWF mains, bully squad mains, low MMR players, high MMR players, etc) and what is glaringly obvious for one player is something another player may never ever see. So they assume the person posting is either trolling or exaggerating and they reply in kind.
I'd give you an up vote but there's no Holly pic. 🤷♀️

When I saw the title I was hoping this was going to say "killers just need to adapt" and I was not disappointed. 😂
-
I think these are good for basekit anti-slugging and I have no argument against them as long as survivors get the basekit anti-slugging.
I do think with Hangmans Trick they should have it bring back permanently destroyed hooks after a time like the perk used to do if survivors get basekit anti-slugging. While I do think killers should be more aware of where they are hooking survivors for risk of losing a hook in an unfortunate area, with the anti-slug change they are put in a lose/lose situation in a dead zone and sometimes the killer doesn't expect that survivor to remove a hook creating a dead zone thanks to hook suicide or crappy teammates not saving them.
-
They should work on accessibility including increasing killer FOV to an acceptable level to help those with motion sickness. I'm sure there's an increase that helps with accessibility while not giving the killer too much information.
-
I do find it funny that "don't nerf perk because of one killer" was being said not long ago but "don't change slugging because of this one killer" is being said now. 😂
I'm glad to see the devs are moving away from encouraging slugging as a playstyle. With this plus knowing they are working on Twins rework it may actually be fun to face them knowing I won't spend half the match slugged. Just hope they do something about being chased by Victor not counting as being chased by the killer.
-
I'm happy with the changes.
No more slugging until bleedout unless the killer wants to stand over a survivors body. I think it's good the devs are doing something to move away from that playstyle.
45 seconds of a survivor not doing anything is a good chunk of time - it's half a gen they could've been working on. Killer doesn't even need to camp the slug to prevent pick up, other survivors have already said they won't go pick up slugs anymore. Killer can go pressure a gen for 30 seconds and then return with Deerstalker to pick up the slug for a hook. Most killers that would slug though will probably worry about not making it back in 45 seconds and just immediately hook the survivor which as survivor makes me happy I won't be on ground not doing anything.
With the last man standing there will probably be less save attempts/hook trades with the last two survivors - especially when there's hatch challenges still being added to the tomes and the chance to hatch escape as slug is no longer there. There may be less attempts by survivors trying risky plays to save someone when others are dead or have left the game - less attempts at risky end game plays means less chances for end game kills. I do think we'll see quite alot of killers benefitting from this though, especially with the "don't bother picking up the slugs" mentality I've seen from alot of players already that will cause easy snowballs for the killer to win the match.

The whole problem is the reduction in survivor interaction. With CoH and soon base kit UB, survivors don't have to get off gens to help their friends. They don't even have to interact with each other at all except for unhooking.
Yes, survivors will not be interacting and picking up/healing themselves longer when it would've been faster if they worked together. Players will need to use judgment in the match but I see the "leave them to pick themselves up in 45 seconds" mentality backfiring on survivors.

Before that, 2nd survivor have to run to the 1st survivor to pick them up. Then run back to 2nd survivor's Gen. The time both survivors wasted is far greater than 1st survivor slugged for 45sec.
COH is considered powerful even though after the time taken to find and set it up you need to run across the map everytime to heal. You obviously will need to use your judgment on the situation in the match but most times someone will probably be close enough to get slug off the ground in less than 45 seconds.
-
They'll need to change this trophy if you can only mori 1 survivor per match.
-
45 seconds is a long time to have it be 3v1 and not have a survivor helping out on gens. Unless the killer is just standing over the survivors body it seems like bad idea to not at the very least get them off the ground.
-
I'm so happy about the anti-slugging basekit.
Last man standing while people in the match I think will make survivors less likely to go for hook saves/trades. It's also an indirect nerf to Adrenaline because killers that closed hatch would pop up the survivor they left slugged. Also makes the hatch challenges even more difficult so they really need to stop putting hatch challenges in the tomes. I'm fine with them adding it in though since survivors get anti-slugging.
-
I feel like "sitting on toilet" should be an option. 😂

I just watched the IGN video on it. I'm wicked excited for this game. Will be nice to have a game where I can play either side with my swf teammate. Was hoping I'd be able to play as the grandpa, but I guess feeding him will have to do. 😂
-
They probably played a ridiculous amount during the first few days when RPD was basically non-stop and probably played either selfish solo escape build or were in swf.
-
Still not as good as it was. Either should revert it back to its original reusable until kicked state or make it equivalent to wire tap in gen progress requirement and how long it lasts on a gen once activated.
-
Trapper should definitely keep og music. I'm not a fan of most of the custom music and wish I could have an option to only hear the og music.

Atleast I can use the code this month but 400k is pretty sad. They are so stingy when it comes to BP, I don't understand it. For a prime reward it should've at the very least been the same as the amount you get for iri 1.
Honestly at this point they've made it pretty clear that they shouldn't have continued with the Amazon Prime partnership. They obviously were not prepared to continue it for more than a handful of months.
They have so many unreleased cosmetics that we saw when Epic players accidently had access to them for a short period. Cosmetics that are in the files but never released for players to use. They could have a few of those pieces be available for a month on Prime for players instead of using cosmetics a portion already own so they can't use the code or just a handful of BP that doesn't get you very far.
-
I mean, compared to last month atleast I can actually use this code but man are they ridiculously stingy when it comes to BP. Like make it atleast 1 million like getting to iri 1 on one side. I don't know why they continued with the Prime partnership when they obviously have trouble putting something worthwhile on there every month.
-
I've made several posts asking them to fill in the free spots. It makes the rift look bad with how empty it is. I think filling them with BP and shards is the best way to go.
If someone is hesitant to buy the rift (maybe because they don't think they'll make it through) there's no incentive to keep playing by rewarding them for completing tiers. If there was a reward on every tier someone that is 9/10 fragments away from getting a reward is more likely to keep playing to get that extra fragment than someone that's needs 4 tiers before a reward so they're 9/40 before next reward - that player has no incentive to keep playing.
-
They either need to make it have same requirements as wiretap or put it back to how it was.

Are there plans to get it working for console? Because PlayStation and Xbox users can't just change their names like Steam and Epic and even Switch can. Anonymous Mode was amazing. I didn't have to worry that I ticked off one of my teammates by doing something like cleansing dull totems or escaping when they didn't. My friend pays attention in lobbies for names he remembers because that's a bad thing, it means they seem to have a grudge for some unknown reason, but I didn't have to care with Anonymous Mode on.
I'm sure there were a lot of PlayStation users who were happy at the chance to turn their messages back on, too. I turned off messages and friend requests a long time ago specifically because of DbD.
If console isn't getting Anonymous Mode, then cross-progression really needs to be a thing so that those of us who want to use these features can move over to Switch or Epic.
This.
Honestly it's such a bummer that Steam players that can just change their names get an anonymous mode while us console players are stuck being harassed by others in the community. They should've waited until this feature was available to everyone because it's just frustrating as console player to see yet again PC getting features we have to miss out on.
-
I wish they'd stop putting hatch challenges in for both sides. There's too many variables needed to go your way and as survivor there's many players that will sabotage the team just to be last alive for hatch. I get challenges are supposed to be a challenge BUT they need to stop doing ones that causes players to ruin the match for the others just to complete them.
-
When you report in game the match gets flagged and you just need to send video proof in a support ticket. It's actually better now because you don't need someone's steam ID to report them, something players on other platforms had no access to.
@Mandy said:
Anonymous Mode has not removed the ability to report players. The procedure is pretty much the same as before, you flag the match in the end game tally screen to report the player in game, then send a report ticket into our Customer Support with your video evidence...the only difference is that you do not need to enter the offenders Steam 64ID or name as the report is tied up via your account.

It's always the worst teammate they give hatch to.
Also wicked annoying is when a killer quickly tunnels out 2 players and then spends 10 minutes farming with the other two players.

The survivor challenges on this tome level are basically "be selfish and screw over your team" challenges. Heal yourself only running Self Care and escape, escape through hatch, hide next to killer for 2 minutes... Guess kill rates still weren't high enough so they're using the survivor challenges to help by making more players throw the game for some BP and rift fragments.
