The one thing I dislike most is constant comparisons between the 2 games when they are fundamentally different. The only similarity is that they are asymmetrical horror games. Playing TCSM expecting DBD gameplay and vice versa will just cause disappointment.
This. 100% this.
-
I find it so weird how so many are either "I want a game to kill DBD" or "I want DBD to kill any other game that's similar." There's plenty of room for more assym horror games, it'll be good if there's more to choose from instead of this Highlander "there can be only one" mentality.
-
I'm having a blast playing it. While it is an assym horror it is different from DBD.
There's definitely some new release bugs and kinks happening but nothing major - atleast not for me. Devs have been on Discord trying to help people troubleshoot any issues.
Aside from one match as Leatherface I've only played the victim role because that's where quick play has been putting me - alot of people want to play family. I've been playing solo and haven't had any issues. I've died more than I've escaped but I wouldn't say using the comms would've made a difference. Most people aren't using their mics so you should pay attention to the little info you do get from notifications - noise, aura, and pop ups. I can definitely tell when the family is working together with comms and when they're not, there is no getting away from them when they use comms.
Definitely play with all the characters and switch around every so often. While you may favor one or two there can only be one of each character in a match so it's good to be comfortable with them all just in case you can't play your favorite.
-
Your Safe Haven description was worded way better than the one I had on my survey. 😂
As for the perks themselves.
Boon: Safe Haven - would definitely be complained about and then nerfed to useless.
Harming Hands - it'd be one of those perks where it'd probably work in solo q but not swf. People would just not let obsession heal them to avoid being exposed.
Electrophobia - Would have good synergy with Fearmonger. Could see this one getting added.
Hasten Healing - it's basically Botany Knowledge but instead of medkit debuff it's an exhaustion debuff.
-
Was about to post this.
-
All in different ways.
A decent chunk need QOL for console/controller play. There's a gap between what those on mouse & keyboard are able to do and those on controller. How many killers just aren't picked up by controller players because of how difficult it is to use their power on controller?
Trapper needs QOL because he has been nerfed due to graphic reworks removing ground cover and creating brighter maps. It limits his trap placement which makes it way too easy to avoid his traps. His traps should blend in more with the maps that don't have ground cover and maps that can have ground cover should increase the amount of ground cover. He also has to trek all around the map to grab his traps. While he shouldn't start with all at once basekit because that'd basically be RIP to first person hooked he also shouldn't have to walk to corner of the map where there's a dead zone to grab a trap that spawned there.

Pineapple, Buffalo chicken, bacon, pizza. Husband likes to add jalapeños to his half of the pizza. There was a local place that used to do a pineapple, maraschino cherry, ham flatbread pizza that I really liked.
I used to do a plain ham sandwich with potato chips in the middle, was tasty with a nice crunch. People would tell me it was already weird to not have a condiment or cheese in ham sandwich. 😂
Was told it was weird when I'd have a bowl of chopped up pineapple and blueberries. Not sure why it was weird but had multiple people tell me it was.
When I had an office job if I didn't have time to run out for lunch/forgot lunch I would go to cafeteria and just get a plain salad, no salad dressing, because they charged by weight so dressing would make it way more expensive than it should've been for some lettuce and cucumber. Was told it was weird I would eat salad without dressing.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West. I personally enjoyed Zero Dawn more than Forbidden West - Forbidden West felt quite a bit more grindy than Zero Dawn and also seemed like I couldn't do alot of stuff until just before the last mission so there was alot of going back and forth to complete stuff. Would still recommend playing both and their DLCs.
Ghost of Tsushima. Started playing this because was recommended when I was looking for game similar to Horizon and Witcher 3. Didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did.
Evil West. Loved playing this first time through when it releases. Planning to play it again around Halloween. Enjoyed the story and the gameplay.
Stray. Loved this game except for the ending. Ending annoyed me. Would play again.
Rollerdrome. Haven't played much but what I have played I've really enjoyed.
Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed. Being a ghostbusters fan I really enjoyed this. Find it to be a pretty relaxing casual game. Doesn't feel bad to lose which is nice. It's fun to chose option of not caring if you're ghost or ghostbuster when playing public match with friends and one of you ends out being ghost while rest are playing with randoms. When match starts and you realize one of you isn't a ghostbuster it's pretty amusing. 😂
Tiny Tina's Wonderland. Had a blast playing main game with my husband. DLC is lame though - it doesn't add anything to story, it's just repetitive chaos chambers that really aren't worth the money.
Witcher 3 if you didn't play it already is a great game and in the like last year they released an additional mission thanks to the Netflix show.
Among Us added a Hide N Seek mode which is pretty fun. Quick matches to get into and fun to just chase/be chased.
If you have PS+ Platinum you can get Twisted Metal 1 and 2. I just started playing those again with my husband and I have just as much fun now as I did when I was playing them on ps1. 😂
You can also get some old Sega/Nintendo combo games for pretty cheap in ps store like Zombies Ate My Neighbors/Ghoul Patrol.

Watched a few streamers playing it. I've not done a deep dive so I may be badly misinformed, but after watching a while I have a number of concerning impressions: -
- Heavily telegraphed maps. The layout of the map is very stylised and impressive, but that also means not a lot of wiggle room for map/gameplay variance. Once you learn it, it's learned.
- No variance I could see about each characters powers. The characters seems to operate their one way, and one way only.
- Bubba is the star, Hitchhiker and Cook will never be as popular to play.
- Little room for expansion, what could they add in terms of new content that still fits within the design and lore they currently have?
I think it'll do OK as a game on release, but once the hype is gone, people will lose interest.
The streams were from the tech test that was more so to test the servers before launch, it had very limited amount of options. Only 4 of the 5 victims, 3 of the 5 family members, and 2 of the 3 maps that will be available at release were available during the tech test.
While general layout of maps was the same there were minor things that change on the map like the fuse and fuse box location, valve handle and valve location, generator location for main exit, grandpa's location, and victim item locations. There's plenty of room for additional changes to be made to the maps once the game is out and people start playing it - maybe crawl spaces/vaults become more random to add variety.
Skill trees were not available during the tech test which offer additional perks and attribute points to each character to adjust how their power works, there's apparently even one for grandpa. The devs just showed an example of skill tree on live stream like a week ago to give a brief explanation before release.
I've seen plenty of people say they are looking forward to playing the other family members. Even during tech test I saw streamers who were excited for Leatherface start leaning toward the other two family members because they fit more into their playstyle. While I'm sure Leatherface will be popular he isn't going to fit everyone's playstyle.
As for additional content, they have the license from Kim Henkel, they creator of the movie. He's already given the OK for multiple characters not from the movie to be used (all 5 victims and 2 additional killers were not in the movie). As long as they can continue to think of new powers they'll be able to add additional characters.
-
I'm wicked excited for TCM and hope it's successful. It's not going to kill DBD and the devs of TCM don't want it to kill DBD because there's plenty of room for multiple assym horror games to exist.

Have you been paying the new boop toll? It was unanimously agreed upon at the start of the year meeting that the Boop price has gone up. Inflation and new demand have hit the fog big time and some of us are struggling to maintain enough BP to feed our kin. Some of our finest have even resorted to adopting new & old tactics and philosophies like the ones you mentioned.
If you see one of our own in the fog who has strayed from the path, judge them not, in fact, take pittance for they have fallen on hard times.
Seriously tho maybe a new approach like shaking your head at them or pointing at a Jigsaw box and shaking your head? Idk just spitballin' here.
I do all the boops even if it kills me 😂
I'm going to guess they are piggies that just don't know how to enjoy a good head pop. Or they're just angry piggies. 😂

I got it done by solo healing a survivor and the injured survivors I ran up to were running around map, not ones I ran up to unhook. I think doing a coop heal screws it up because of someone hitting greats or just not starting heal at same time so while you may have coop healed 2 survivors you really only healed 98% of 1 health state instead of 100%.

I guess what I was wondering is when the matchmaking expands, it should be much easier for the middle 80% of the ratings curve to immediately find a game with each other than for the top and bottom 10% to find a game with players within that 80%. Just wanted to make sure that top and bottom players are not being matched with each other because everyone in the 80% had already found a match amongst each other. It sounds like it's not - thanks.
Few more questions:
1. You said:
"The vast majority of matches are already within a very close margin where your odds of winning vary by a few percent."
What percentage of current matches require the game to expand the search for players beyond what BHVR would consider a fair match for all players?
2. How well does MMR predict the escape outcome for SWF games vs solo-que games?
3. Any progress made on the backfill issues caused by lobby dodging? Mandy had suggested locking the lobby - could we at least test that out to see if it would improve the quality of matches?
#3 would be great to atleast test for a week.
-
I wish people that 99 gates and decide to leave would actually 99% them and not 95% or 90% them. Bad enough having to be the one to tap it while injured instead of just running out, even worse when I have to stand there for extra seconds to finish opening it because they didn't actually 99 it.
-
Killer side: Delete Knock Out, it only encourages slugging and I only see it in slugging until bleed out builds.
Survivor side: delete Bond and Empathy because most people I see running those use them to screw over teammates instead of helping them.

but just survivor event BP.
Killer: Play as normal = profit.
Survivor: Only profit if youre touching the gen the second it pops.
The inconsistency bothers me. And the fact that they changed it to make it worse is just insane to me...
I'd love to see an event where by playing the offering everyone (killer and survivors) share the event BP earned in the match and it'd stack for every offering played. Be amazing to see how different the games are played when the event BP is shared.
Don't play an offering? You don't get any of the event BP others earn but they still get yours. Survivors busting through gens? That's fine, you as killer are also getting the event BP from them. Killer quickly killing everyone? You may have missed out on gen event BP but atleast you'll share in the hook BP. 😂
-
Why won't pigs let me set off my trap? It's beeping, I want to watch my head explode, I'm obviously not trying to escape it and just before it explodes they down and hook me. 😭
And sometimes when they do let me explode my head they don't even watch it explode we me, they leave and miss the fun. 😒
-
I wish there was an option to choose to not be in lobbies where myself or others have a ridiculous ping. This way someone from somewhere around the world isn't using VPN to get into my region for laggy advantage and I'm not randomly being sent to a region where I'm lagging. I'd rather have a longer wait for a match than one where myself or others have high ping.
-
It just feels like they are ridiculously stingy when it comes to event BP and the way to get the limited event BP just makes games way more sweaty so it's overall not a great time.
-
This is what happens when the only way survivors are able to get event BP is by being on a gen when it finishes. Survivors stick to gens way more because leaving a gen that's almost done means they risk missing out on the event BP. Add in tome challenges that require you to finish gens instead of do equivalent amount of gens (especially in one match) and it's more reason for survivors to be more focused on gens. Not only are survivors competing against killer just to finish gens before they die but they end out competing against the other survivors for the limited survivor event BP.
I keep saying it but this is why the Lunar New Year event is the best and way less sweaty than other events. You collect event envelope at start that already gives you decent chunk of event BP and then as long as you're still in the match you get event BP for finished gens.
-
I love playing Trapper.
I don't mind not starting with all of his traps because it makes sense with how easy it would be for him to just trap up the first person caught - you actually need to plan where to place traps when you're limited to how many you can carry at a time.
I do think his traps should be more accessible and not in random dead zone corner of map. I also think traps need to blend more with the different maps since we now have wicked bright maps and since reworks we have very little to no ground cover - this not only makes it easy to spot a trap but also limits the placement to predictable areas.
-
I'm looking forward to playing the other killers in TCM.
-
If you DC whenever you're in middle of being sacrifice then you've been building up your DC penalties. If you don't think that's the case then you can reach out to support and see why you're getting DC penalties.
https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
-
Were you using the Prayer Tablet Fragment add on? It increases duration of infection on objects and amount of infection gained from objects but makes it so you can't directly infect survivors with her vomit. So they'll do the hand wave animation as you puke on them but not actually get sick.
-
There was a rumor he was leaving a few months ago because people like to stir up unnecessary drama. DBD devs said he's not going anywhere. TCM devs said if he were to leave DBD it wouldn't be because of TCM game.
-
There's unfortunately alot of players on both sides that really just enjoy wasting other people's time by keeping them the game.
-
I was playing solo the other day. Had a Pyramid Head that only had 2 hooks total on two different survivors when gens finished. He hooked one player, tried camping, got hook trade before they reached second. Tried camping again, no hook trade this time and all survivors got to the open door. Could tell they switched from wanting end game kill to wanting everyone to leave to drop MMR. We all went back in and two of us gave him a second hook before time ran out, then we all left. Next match? Get a killer that randomly decides to stand over me and bleed me out even though I didn't do anything toxic in game, just played normal and tried not to get killed.
Both sides have players that do their best to just frustrate the other side - survivors that just won't leave for 2 minutes in exit or killers that just slug survivors for 4 minute bleedout timer. Both use the other side frustrating them in previous match for why they then do it themselves in next match.
As for messages just ignore them. Turn off end game chat if you're on PC. If on console make profile private or don't even open messages you receive after a match. More often than not it will be someone being a sore winner/loser so don't waste your time with it.
-
I think grade pips and Event BP/rewards add unnecessary frustration that may make tunneling feel unfair.
You get tunneled out before you can do anything you lose a pip. Rest of team might pip or safety pip but once it's 3v1 odds of escape drop so probably only getting silver in survival, and depending on what you could do for the other categories and what grade you're at odds are you'll be losing a pip. Losing progress towards monthly grade reset reward adds additional frustration to losing the match.
Most events you miss out on the already limited event BP if you aren't on a gen when it's finished. You could be in the match for what would be multiple gens finishing while killer is focused on tunneling you out but you're getting 0 event BP. If there's event rewards that you can only earn if alive for end game you're not getting those if killer tunnels you out before that last gen pops. Just unnecessary frustration added to a losing match.
It's a 7 year old game with a single game mode and SBMM that is based on kills/escapes and not how you get those kills/escapes. Tunneling isn't fun for the survivor but I wouldn't say it's unfair, more so it's an easy tactic with a high reward so it'd be nice if it was made bit harder to match the high reward.

I guess the solution would be locking lobbies and not allowing players to dodge them.
I would love it if we just skipped the lobby entirely and just went straight from "looking for match" to in a match. Also skip the showing offerings, let people check on menu in match if they're curious.
-
Years ago it was asked in Q&A if they could do something about Dailies being mostly killer. At the time they said they were aware that dailies tend to be more for killers than survivors and they would look into doing something about it. Years later and unfortunately it's still same issue. I wish they'd make it so there were 3 survivor dailies and 3 killer dailies instead of just 3 total and hope for best.
-
It'd be great for when you have heal others challenge you could guarantee not getting Plague or an unhook challenge guarantee not getting Pyramid Head who can send players to cages instead.

I got it rather unexpexted in my last game. I ran to a Laurie and healed her and she me, then to a Leon and Yui that were healing in a corner... they were interrupted before I could catch up tp them, but the Yui running towards me made the challenge pop up as completed.
So here is what I get from that: the reunite and the heal part are tracked seperately. You need to heal 100 tics or charges on other survivors AND you need to reuinte with 2 survivors during that match. You dont neet to heal the survivors that you reunite with, but of course this helps. I ran both, Empathy and Empathic Connection, so I knew where everyone injured was and they could also coordinate comming to me. I did this as a soloQ survivor, so it wasn't THAT hard, just not very well written and explained.
Kind of feels like they were trying to make it more challenging by having multiple requirements but did not explain it well in the challenge description.
-
@Akumakaji said:
Hmm ... nothing.
I reunited with a lot of injured survivors and healed each other, but never with two at the same time, which seems to be the crucial point.
For previous meet up with injured survivor challenges you needed to be a certain distance from the other survivor. I wonder if this is same thing so like unhooking and healing wouldn't count but like running over after unhook would.

no there was a bug on that map that required the kill switch, it wasn't switched off because it was being reworked.
There were bugs that were left on other maps during reworks and they weren't kill switched, just left there for months until the rework went through. Haddonfield was only one that received a 5 month kill switch. Sorry but BHVR has been very inconsistent with what is considered kill switch worthy and what isn't.
While I understand reworks and bug fixes take time something needs to be done to end these hour long 3gen stalls until a fix is ready - which seems like won't be anytime soon.
-
Nightfall currently causes eye strain/migraines for many survivor players. It's bad enough after one match against the Dredge, it'd be horrible against multiple killers.
-
A negative pip after a bad match just causes uneccessary frustration. Personally negative pips encourage me to go play something else, especially if I was 1 pip away from going up a grade when I lost progress.
-
They kill switched Haddonfield for months while they reworked that map and it was just considered unfun, it didn't cause hour stall games like Skull Merchant 3 gen.
-
Think we need to get bigger bed so all 3 can fit on it. 😂
-
I feel like alot of matches on both sides would be alot better if depips were removed.
-
If you're having trouble against killers running aura reading builds start running Distortion. I started running it when Lethal became more popular.
-
This happened to me on PS4 after Sadako started spamming her teleport, I was disconnected with that error message and hit with a DC penalty. I made a bug report when it happened (https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/385213/ps4-dedicated-server-disconnected#latest).
Alot of times after a match when I try to leave the end game screen I get the loading screen like I'm returning to my lobby but instead it brings me back to the end game screen with that message and shows everyone having DC'd even if the match ended with no one DCing.
-
I only 99 if I'm sticking by the door and multiple players haven't been hooked once. If everyone is on second hook or death hook I open because you don't need extra time for saves at that point. I've died more times to players 99 the doors than I have to BW - mostly because they actually 90 or 95 the doors not actually 99.
I run Wake Up so the other players know which door is opening and to head that way. I also run Distortion so I can run into the exit after opening and if I lose a token it's because the killer is running BW.

I don't disagree that it causes issues, but i think there is a bigger thing people are ignoring. Context is always important when you look at data like this. Part of it is the date range, and MFT not existing for half of it. The other part is that this is for ALL players and not broken down by MMR. So there's a few things to note:
1st, MFT didn't exist for half of the time that the data recorded there was collected.
2nd, MFT is tied to a new survivor.
3rd, this data covers ALL players, not just top MMR, as evidence by how high self-care is (come on now)
4th, actually look at all of the survivor perks in the top 10 and how you get them.
- Windows of Opportunity - The biggest outlier, but probably the most "noob friendly" perk in the game
- Adrenaline - A free perk that every survivor has access to
- Resilience - A free perk that every survivor has access to
- Lithe - A perk on Feng min, by far the most played survivor in the game (should be obvious based how many skins she gets)
- Self-Care - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Sprint Burst - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Prove Thyself - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Dead Hard - A perk on a survivor that you are given access to after completing the tutorial
- Bond - A perk on a survivor that every player has access to
- Spine Chill - A free perk that every survivor has access to
Additionally, windows and Lithe both appeared in the shrine shortly before this date range happened, and once again during the date range the data was collected.
Almost all of these perks are accessible to players who haven't bought anything other than the base game. So if anything, the only interesting thing here is how much of an outlier windows of opportunity is.
In fact, the most useful statistic would be pick rates, broken down by MMR, and adjusted for OWNING those perks. Because i'd guess a ton of these "5 hour megs" don't have MFT to begin with.
Region is also why certain perks are higher than others. Previously when Self Care was shown to still be a top pick the devs said its because on Asia servers it is still wicked popular due to their playstyle.
-
Must be your MMR/region. Since the event started my survivor q has been wicked quick because you get more event BP as killer than survivor so more are playing killer in my region. I had quite a long wait for the killer matches I played for the event tome.
-
Yes, please. If killer is leaving people on ground for extended periods of time just to bleed them out/waste their time or slugging for 4k then just let a bot take over for me so I can go to a new match and actually play the game.
It's one thing to slug for a short period of time because pallet or someone nearby with flashlight but doing it just to bleed people out or waste 3 min 59 seconds of their time before finally hooking them is the thing the devs really need to do something about.

I have a bonus question…
Why do events bring out the worst in this community? It’s been an absolute sweat fest the last two days.
Survivors have to be on the gen when it finishes to get event BP. Survivors end out focusing more on finishing gens than anything else because that's only way to get the event BP, they're limited to 5 gens total of BP, and odds of being on all 5 gens when they finish is very slim. In other events where survivors need to make it to end game or escape its same issue - they focus on completing the gens as fast as possible so they can make it to end game before getting killed so they can get event reward.
Because survivors are more focused on gens and completing them faster to get the BP the killers end out playing more sweaty as a reaction. Killers play more sweaty so survivors play more sweaty... And it's the vicious circle of events like this.
Lunar New Year isn't as sweaty as the other events. Players can die before end game and they still get their reward. The envelopes are collected at the start so it's not taking away from normal gameplay. All survivors still in the match receive event BP when a gen is finished. All the other events push players to play more sweaty because of the way event BP/rewards are handled.
-

The lobby shouldn't even exist. You should just go straight into the loading screen. The lobby is only used so killers can cherry pick easy lobbies and bully weak survivors. At the very least checking profiles and prestiges before the game even starts need to go. I feel like matchmaking would work significantly better if we did this.
This. Just skip the lobby and go straight to a match once there's 5 players matched together. Can't lobby dodge if there's no lobby to dodge and it will stop the issue of backfill screwing up matchmaking.
Also don't show the offerings so people don't quit when they see a map offering or because someone else didn't play an event offering.
