this is very true. I've accidentally missed a skill check on the 2nd phase purely due to drinking my coffee and completely forgetting about it :)
I have always and will always miss skill checks thanks to my pets. If they want attention they're not taking no for an answer and I can't say no to them anyway. 😂

Happy Halloween! 🎃
I'm doing Halloween movie/specials binge today so won't be gaming. Hoping we get lots of Trick or Treaters, I love seeing kids out enjoying the holiday.

This is the problem with there only being one game mode with everything shoved into it. For the events you have everyone on one queue - those that want to play extra sweaty, those that want to play normal, and those that want to mess around with the event. Most events also have added bonus of event BP being tied to objectives which pushes for matches to become more sweaty - survivors only (or mostly) get BP from finishing gens so they focus more on gens, killers then feel like they need to sweat to get their event BP from hooks and secure kills, and it turns into vicious circle.
They should make a separate mode for the event where they can design it to not be a sweat fest. Those that want to mess around with event go to the event queue, those that want sweaty or normal DBD experience go to the normal DBD queue.

Thanks to the tutorial having you attempt escape I thought you were supposed to attempt escape every time. Took awhile before I realized I should wait for someone to unhook me instead of forcing second hook state.
I started when BT wasn't basekit and on console Bill wasn't available yet so his perks were general perks - I didn't pull BT from bloodweb for awhile. When I had random teammates unhook me in front of a killer with BT I thought that was a basekit thing where I just needed to get timing/killer distance right. It was awhile until I found out it was a perk and I shouldn't just unhook in front of the killer.
I thought exposed meant the killer could see my aura along with instadown.
I didn't know you could grab survivors from a trap instead of downing them. Found out that was a thing when I was trying to get the Trapper achievement.
DS description says something like "using whatever is in your hand" - I thought that meant I had to have an item in my hand to use the perk so I never used it because at the time alot of the killers I ran into would run Franklin's.

Put a bird video on for the kitties. Dante was barely interested, Darryl wanted to touch the birdies. 😂

It's pretty rare they do discounts with shards.
Anniversary last couple years they have discounted characters by making them half off with shards.
They've had a shard "flash sale" a couple of times where it was random handful of outfits. These sales were easily missed though.
At Halloween the only time that I can remember they had discount with shards was couple years ago when the event was so bad they added in some daily log ins and cut Halloween outfit shard prices to try and make up for it.

And will those things be available on Switch? Or will it be just another "so sorry, you get nothing"? If you're going to make a trend of Twitch drops but not offer any way for Switch players to participate then that's further proof that Switch players do not matter to BHVR at all. Can't even get the version to run above 20 FPS.
It's sad that Switch is left out, especially when they said no more exclusives it was about making cosmetics available to all platforms. They said no more leaving platforms out like before when steam/pc got cosmetics that console couldn't, but here we are with Switch being left out.
Instead of needing to link platform account to BHVR account they should've only required linking the Twitch account and when you claim the drop have a code pop up on your bhvr account to enter in the in game store. With a code it would allow all platforms to participate in the drops. When Back 4 Blood had a beta WB Games opened access to it with twitch drops - you'd watch for x amount of time, when you claimed the drop you would have a code on your WB games account (along with code for couple friends) and you could enter it on whatever platform Back 4 Blood would be available on. I hope for future Twitch drops BHVR switches to having codes available on players BHVR account instead of requiring the linking to platforms.

This makes me nervous that I'm missing more cosmetics that I am not noticing because I have so many. I am for sure missing frosty eyes, orange eyes (hallowed eyes? Idk the name but I know I had them on Hillbilly) and pumpkin head Nurse.
This is a worry I have too. What cosmetic have I not used recently is now missing? There's alot I don't use but then a new cosmetic comes out and looks good mix/matched with the old one I have.

Yeah, since you need a BHVR-Account for this, I am not doing this. I once read that people got loss of progress when linking their account to a BHVR-Account and I dont really want to experience this.
This is keeping me from doing it. I'd rather not risk losing all my progress. It's unfortunate since twitch drops are such low effort to get the rewards.

it's only free if you consider your time wasted watching a stream you're not interested for a chance at a trinket worthless.
For twitch drops I just put whatever stream on my phone, turn off volume, and then put phone aside while I go do whatever else I want to. You don't have to sit there watching/paying attention to the stream to earn the drop.
-
I'm missing frosty eyes for same characters. Also missing the all hallows eyes for Trapper, Wraith and Hillbilly as well as the pumpkin head cosmetic for Nurse. I'm on PS4 so it's a bug on multiple platforms.

I've subscribed a bunch of times because I'll get emails for a bit and then just randomly stop getting them. Whatever they use for their mailing list doesn't work well.

Zarina.
Her noises annoy me the least hearing them and she isn't super loud.
While she doesn't have many cosmetics she does have a decent few in her collection. I wish she'd be given more attention in the cosmetic department. I'd like to see her get more options that are available year round to make her more appealing to new players.
Other Zarina players tend to be good teammates and don't try to be toxic to killer or other survivors. This leads to Zarina players being treated better by other players because they don't already have pre-existing anger towards Zarina like they do other characters. I get a bit less tunneling/slugging until bleed out and random teammates tend to help me out more in tricky situations when I'm playing as Zarina than any other character.
-
People got their Adept achievements and then went back to the main killer they know and love. There's a reason the top picked killers over the years doesn't change that much. While new killers will get a few people to switch mains, most head back to their old mains fairly quick unless their main gets a huge nerf or new killer is wicked strong. It's not like survivors where people switch based on looks/available cosmetics.
-
Because having 10 traps in hand easily allows Trapper to trap up the first survivor he hooks, doesn't even need to be basement. That's the biggest complaint with Hag, that she can place all her traps around the first survivor hooked. If Trapper has all his traps in hand most players will go for easiest method of trapping up first hook and then Trapper will end up with dumb nerfs instead of the good buffs he deserves.
I think the current changes are good start in helping Trapper but there's other buffs I'd like to see that I think would be better than starting with all traps in hand.
-Have all traps start armed, this will be great now that they start near objectives. It would help Trapper in the early game since so much of it is just walking around picking up/setting the traps. It would also encourage players to consider leaving the open trap in spawn area rather than going around collecting them just to trap up a certain section for late game. The add on to arm traps every 30 seconds would still be useful for when survivors disarm traps.
-Fix the nerfs he received from map reworks/new maps by making traps blend in more with different maps and add more ground cover so he isn't limited in trap placement. Currently it is so easy for survivors to avoid a trap since they stick out and tend to be in the same places.
-If a survivor steps in a trap they should always receive deep wound so it punishes injured survivors for not paying attention just as much as healthy survivors.
-Make it take set amount of seconds to escape a trap instead of being RNG amount of attempts.
-
Excuse is it would upset older players because not all their stats would be there. Granted that's been excuse for years, had they put it in earlier it would've only been missing couple years of stats instead of over 7 years. Really unfortunate they never implemented it and won't implement it. I started in 2018 and would be happy if they finally put in personal stats - not only would it be nice to see going forward but it would also help with tracking progress on achievements.

It's such a bummer they aren't using the beta tab and instead are randomly selecting players. I was so excited to finally be able to test stuff thanks to the beta tab because being on console I was missing out on PTBs being PC only. Now I'm missing out on testing because I'm not picked to test stuff. 😔
-
So snuggly.

When I saw Trapper got 2 more traps I thought "oh cool, 2 more traps for me to go to corner of map away from survivors to grab if I want to use them." I don't think Trapper should start with all traps, that basically guarantees 1 hook death for first survivor caught - most players go for the easiest way to secure a kill even if it isn't the best play. I do think they need to adjust the trap spawns so he doesn't have to go all the way to a dead zone in a corner to pick up his traps. I think traps should spawn near gens. Spawns near gens would be on the way when he's patrolling so he doesn't have to move away from where survivors would be and it also would help new players learning to patrol the gens. Being near gens also accounts for maps like Midwich where gens spawn around the edge instead of the middle. If they moved spawns near gens and spawned traps could start armed that would be great for Trapper.
He needs some other buffs that would help him for all Trapper players.
Since they've nerfed him with realm beyond removing ground cover and new maps being brighter they should increase ground cover on all maps and make his traps blend more with the ground of the map. Most times either the survivor can see the trap from far away or it ends up being in predictable spot that's easy to avoid - they only step in it because not paying any attention or made bad choice in path during chase. It doesn't need to be invisible, just not stick out like it does now.
The RNG to escape a trap needs to go, just make it so it's a set number of seconds to get out of a trap. Also give the survivor deep wound for stepping in a trap that way if they're already injured they need to deal with consequences of stepping in trap even if they escape.
I'm against limiting range of traps that are close to eachother. I love doing back to back window traps or on Yamaoka doing window into doorway on some tiles where they are basically right next to eachother with some grass. It's hilarious seeing someone step in one, escape, and then immediately step in the next one. Or they see first one, disarm it but then immediately step in second one. Limiting range would remove some of the random fun trap placement and that would be a bummer.
-
Trapper. As character I love that he still has original terror radius/chase music and hope he keeps it - I really I'm not a fan of majority of the unique music and wish there was option to have original instead. He's had some pretty good cosmetics. He has a great grunt when pallet stunned, perfect annoyed what just happened grunt.
I love seeing what random places I can set his traps to catch survivors. I wish maps would have more ground cover for this but since realm beyond began there's been less and less and maps have become brighter which is a huge bummer as a Trapper fan. I know alot hated old Haddonfield map but it was one of my favorites to play Trapper on - all that grass and tight spots where survivors couldn't avoid the traps, it was great.
Whenever I hear the snap of a trap from catching a survivor it always makes me smile, even when I'm playing survivor against Trapper. There's just something so satisfying about that snap sound.
I've had plenty of matches where I just end out laughing at some survivors getting caught in traps I've placed - same survivor stepping in traps I've placed back to back, matches where I place a single random trap and every survivor manages to step in it, one survivor stepping in same randomly placed trap multiple times throughout the match while sneaking around the map, etc. I probably laugh the most playing Trapper.
He's the only killer in the game that in next match after playing against him I am still paranoid about his power - I'll still be looking for traps for sometime even when I know it's not Trapper. 😂 I also tend to not feel bad after losing to a Trapper because either they are really good or I messed up - there's no "how did that trap catch me?" because of latency or what feels like a funky hit box.
He's one that survivors underestimate and will become cocky against but he can quickly have the match snowball in his direction from some well placed traps. I've had too many matches as survivor where I see my teammates get cocky and then just snowball after stepping in a single trap.
I caught 3 survivors at once from 3 randomly placed traps around the map, was quick end to what probably would've been a 2/3E became 4k. The multiple snaps/screams was great. Nothing will ever top that for me.

The BP is pretty lame knowing they could do (and have done) way better rewards. 400k BP might get you through half a prestige level on a character, it's really not much.
I'm fine with them not doing a cosmetic. You get people upset that there's an exclusive or if they eventually put it in the store you get people upset that it's not an exclusive. Then you also have people upset because it's not the character they wanted to get a cosmetic. No matter what in that scenario BHVR angers someone.
The free rift (or 10 tiers if you already bought it) was probably the best one they had. I saw alot of people say they played more during that rift to get the auric cells instead of just breaking even like they would any other rift.
I think having auric cells or Iri shards would be a better prime reward since they would let players buy a cosmetic. They could even make a new currency that is specific to cosmetics that you get from Prime rewards or give aways - it can be like the old event currency we got from old Halloween and Lunar New Year events that let you "buy" the event cosmetics.

Last time I got bled out (over the weekend), I literally crawled to a hook. Killer never came back to where I was, just stayed with the other two that he downed after me.
This is majority of my bleed outs. I'll be under a hook with crows but killer wants to waste my time slugging me until bleed out. If I don't bleed out the killer waits until I have a sliver of bleed out left before picking me up to hook me if they're going to hook me at all.
-
I think if they used the beta tab it would feel alot better as a player to have option to be included in these tests or not and be able to give feedback from actually being able to test it. As console player we're already left out from PTB testing which is pretty frustrating. The beta tab gave us hope that we'd finally be included in testing but instead of using that BHVR is selecting small groups so odds of being included aren't great. I've only seen PC players comment they've been included so chance console isn't even included in the small group that's selected.

My question is very similar to the little perk display - why not test it in the opt-in (or opt-out) beta features tab that was introduced a while ago, instead of testing at random? That would give a larger sample size and probably be less work than randomly selecting x amount of accounts for each new feature that's being tested.
I think the feature itself is fine, I just don't see why you've (BHVR) introduced a Betas tab and then never used it outside of the Wiggle + Struggle progress changes.
This. Think they did same with some small changes in load out screen on only select people too not long ago. Really it just causes confusion because people don't know they're doing testing on small groups. Also seems like it's only PC, wasn't point of beta tab to finally include console players on testing stuff?

I'm conflicted as well, I was looking forward to Alien as the content seems well made and I like the franchise
But at the same time I am not buying into this blatant double dipping greed. What, we really gonna pretend like BHVR isn't making enough money or something?
We really gonna pretend they aren't making a movie, have several other games in production and own one of the biggest horror gaming franchises now?
Like come on now.
Since April 2022 they've opened several new offices (Toronto, UK South, and most recently Rotterdam) as well as acquired SockMonkey studios for UK North and Midwinter Entertainment for Seattle. DBD players are basically funding BHVRs expansion.
-
I think at this point they should have 2 queues - one with DC penalties and one without. If you go into DC penalty queue and DC then you gotta wait out the penalty, no going to penalty free queue to wait it out.

Not really, no. No one else does that. All they have to do is add a mute button and an option to report for vc abuse.
You realize they'd need to listen to the voice chats that are reported and that's considered moderation, right? That takes time and resources.

Now hear me out... mute button.
Very innovative! Or as I said previously a option in settings to automatically not join vc.
This entire thread only proves dbd players don't play other pvp games.
BHVR would still need to moderate the voice chat like they do with the end game chat - that is alot of resources.
-
Because then BHVR would be responsible for moderating voice chat. It's not worth the time or resources, especially knowing how toxic the DBD community can get. People constantly complain about messages they get in end game chat, it would be even worse with VC through out the entire match.

"7 minutes. 7 minutes is all I can spare to listen to your voice lines" - wesker
The most annoying part about that voiceline is that it will play when you're downed at the beginning of match. It should not play that early in a match.
-
It doesn't bug me because it's 2 minutes max if I don't go to the door I so I use that time it to break stuff/close hatch for extra BP and I can make it shorter if I do go to the door. It's not like when I'm getting slugged until bleedout and can't speed it up or earn extra BP while I wait for timer to finish. For me dealing with 2 minutes of survivors not leaving is nothing compared to laying in ground for 4 minutes.
-
No unless they have option to mute them because the voice lines get old pretty quick.
-
Trapper:
Traps should blend in more with map so they don't stick out on bright maps or maps with little ground cover. Also add more ground cover to maps that can have it.
Better trap spawns. No more spawning in random corner of the map. Traps should spawn already set. I know alot say let him start with all traps but that just makes camping first survivor to death way too easy.
Survivors that step in a trap should get deep wound that way injured survivors that escape are punished the same as a healthy survivor for not paying attention.
-
Nope. Might check out Fog Whisperer stream and see if I can win it like I have with other licensed DLC but I'm not going to buy it.
-
It'd be great if they only did 3 chapters a year and rest of time was focused on bugs and QOL BUT every time there's been a midchapter patch that's mainly bug fixes people complain there isn't anything/enough that's new. Within days of a chapter coming out people start asking what the next chapter will be. There's no way they'd do less DLC because too many would complain.
