Because people are willing to spend $20 on base game and then spend additional money on DLCs, rifts, and cosmetics. As long as people continue to spend money on the game they're not going to make it free.

I get the FNAF is super popular, but Scott has openly admitted to donating to anti LGBTQ organizations and still has full creative rights over the franchise. Like for a development community to support and collaborate with someone like that is super disappointing. Especially since y'all have been so supportive of the queer community.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Cawthon#:~:text=Days%20later%2C%20Cawthon%20announced%20his,has%20exclusive%20rights%20over%20it.I don't think they forgot, I think they just don't care. BHVR is a Canadian company, they don't care that Scott donated to anti-lgbt+ US politicians because it's not their civil rights on the chopping block. The money they make from the DLC will help them ignore any of the complaints. It would take the FNAF DLC earning no money and a large drop in player base for them to care.
-
I think BHVR should donate all proceeds they make from FNAF dlc to charities that support the lgbt+ community.

Having same issue on ps4 version.
-
I'm on ps4, played all weekend with no issues. After yesterday's patch I've had the game crash where I get the Playstation message asking if I want to send a report and I've been disconnected from a match thanks to dedicated server issue. Both times it was towards end of the match in 2v8, only myself and 1 or 2 others.
I don't care that there's a DC penalty for my own internet issues because I can call my internet provider and get the issue fixed but there shouldn't be one when the issue is on BHVRs side with the dedicated servers, I have 0 control over that. Just make it so if this error message pops up the game knows to not give a penalty.
-
I'm having same issue playing the ps4 version. I even closed and reopened the game to see if that might help but nope, still nothing.
-
Autocage when downed sounds good in theory but the problem is a killer like Huntress who can snipe you from across the map. She could down you across the map, then your cage could pop up right by her - kind of defeats the purpose of the cage popping up away from the killer that just downed you.
I have a feeling that if they add more classes on the survivor side there is going to be one that addresses slugging if slugging becomes more of an issue - probably something like unbreakable for player running it and nearby survivors.

Something weirds going on. It just gave me an errror in the blood web now.
After doing what you said like 3 times the challenge finally went through and the bloodweb worked. BUT then, it failed to give me the reward in the rift. Although I only had to retry that once for it to work.
Thats 3 issues that I've never seen before happen all at once. Server issues?
I'm guessing it has to be server related because I had no issues with other challenges I completed before this one. I only know I got the reward in the rift because I had checked where I was in the rift just before I played the last match.
-
Try closing out/reopening the game. I just got same error for the "The Shield" challenge. When I came back in it has it as claimed.
-
They really should include XP bonus in the role incentive. Earning more iri shards and rift progress is a better incentive than just BP.
-
Autohaven maps really should be kill switched. I had one match where a section of the wall was missing. Another match after I died when I was spectating I saw my teammates were falling through the ground and encountering invisible walls/vaults in a section of the map.
-
Every match of mine has atleast 2 medics. It seems like scout and guide are the two people don't want to play in my matches.
-
I don't think increasing BP at this point is enough incentive for a role. I think they need to start including XP in the incentive.
For this specifically maybe add some extra survivor challenges in the tome - simple challenges like heal other survivors, work on gens, be in a chase, and coop for a bit.
-
I had same thing when playing in 2v8 on Azarov Map (playing PS4 version). I thought maybe it was a 2v8 map issue but looks like it's Autohaven issue if it's happening with regular mode too.

Is she iconic horror? No. But, if you google "Tomb Raider horror/scary" there's alot of discussions from a decade ago where people think the earlier games border horror. There was plans for a Tomb Raider survival horror game but it got scrapped and they instead did the 2013 reboot. It was called Tomb Raider: Ascension, you can see the early dev footage on YouTube that Square Enix released in 2021. They canceled it because they didn't think a Tomb Raider survival horror game would do well but maybe after Lara Croft joins DBD they'll reconsider that decision.

A lot of my time spent playing DBD has been playing as solo survivor, and even though it's always been in an iffy state, I've always managed to still have fun and just roll with it.
Lately though it's just gotten so dire. Game after game of the entire team dying with 4 or 5 gens left. Killers finding and downing survivors within the first 20 seconds of the game starting. Barely even being able to do gens because we practically start off on the back-foot and are just unhooking and healing all game.
I have an archive challenge to get 2 Iri Lightbringer Emblems and the games literally do not last long enough to get them. Even if I ignored my teammates and JUST stuck to gens from the start, I couldn't get them. It's just highlighted how weak solo survivor is thesedays and after even a handful of games I just give up.
I stopped playing around the time Nic Cage came out because of how bad it felt to play solo survivor. Kind of kept up with changes to the game but because I was not playing only some stuck. I hopped in for My Little Oni and Chaos Shuffle to check them out. Decided to come back for anniversary so started playing a bit before it began to get back into the swing of things. I only made it through the first level of the event tome but I don't think I can keep playing, need to go back on my break. Solo survivor feels worse than it did before my break. Same as you described - entire team dying with 4-5 gens left in most of my matches, if someone managed to escape it was through the hatch.
I miss the old rank matchmaking. Was it perfect? No, but it did help in matching survivors with similar play styles so matches as solo felt better. I think they need to bring that back for the survivor team matchmaking so the players that escaped/died while helping the team are matched with eachother while those who play selfish end up matched with eachother.

Agreed, it should be 180 seconds like Breakdown. This way the killer has to take into consideration what hooks they are using and do a little resource management. 60 seconds base is too short of an amount of time. Have Hangmans Trick shorten the time like it used to for the killers than find 180 seconds to be too long.

I don't know what it is about an event but it always seems to bring out the worst in people. Everyone's always bringing busted builds/items and sweating as hard as they can. Killer or Survivor.
It doesn't really help that a card that heals the entire team was added either.
The main event BP being tied to hooks/gens makes people more sweaty. Survivors only get event gen BP if they are on the gen when it finishes, if you are mostly chased or are chased off a gen you've done 99% of and someone runs over to finish it you miss out on the event BP. So survivors bring loadout that allows them to get gens done as quickly as possible to hopefully maximize the amount of gens they can be on when they finish. Killers have to hook survivors to get any of their main event BP so they bring extra sweaty build for that. It just creates a vicious circle that no one is happy about. Then you have the players that just bring a broken build for the sole purpose of ruining other players time during events.
Since the event now has a separate queue they could make it so you can't use a busted load out - just remove perks, items, and add ons from being brought into the match. Make it so the big XP is tied to the random event stuff like collecting/using the invitations instead of hooks/gens so people don't feel as though they need to rush/sweat on either side to get the limited event BP. They have alot more options/freedom now that the event has its own queue to stop it from becoming a sweatfest and prevent people from using it as a time to just ruin other people's fun.

This has been a complaint for years. It was in a Q&A probably 3 or 4 years ago that they addressed a question about how there tends to be more killer dailies. At the time they acknowledged that they knew that dailies were bit lopsided going more so to killers over survivors and that they were looking into fixing it.
I don't know why they don't just adjust the dailies to be 3 killer and 3 survivor, it would instantly fix the RNG of what side gets a challenge, would guarantee you would always have a daily no matter what side you play, and it would make those times they do 2x xp for daily challenges actually have an impact.

DBD has alot of content, consistent content updates, can get alot of the content for free from earnable currency, is available on multiple platforms, and has had 8 years to make adjustments. While the matchmaking isn't perfect there is something there to atleast try and prevent a new player from getting stomped by a veteran.
DBD also had something alot of other games don't get to have now - they had a chance to learn/grow because they were first so players didn't give up and move on quickly from them. Any new horror assym immediately gets compared to current DBD, a game that's had 8 years to fix issues from player feedback. A new game comes out and players find issues the devs didn't know about because players manage to find ways to play the game the devs didn't intend so didn't consider it. The new game gets much harsher criticism and people don't give the devs a chance to make fixes because people can fall back on DBD, the game that had the chance to learn/grow. If DBD came out today the same way it did in 2016 people would tear it apart and not give them a chance to make the changes they made in that first year or two.

In general, asymm developers tend to ignore every game that has come before in the genre and don't pay enough attention to how asymm players play games. There's a bizarre naivete about design decisions, and it always comes back to bite them.
Players are going to optimize the game and be competitive whether you intend it or not. It will happen. The game has to be able to tolerate it. Too often bad design is passed off as "well, the game is supposed to be casual." I'm watching Killer Klowns gameplay and seeing players getting spawn killed in 2 or 3 hits. What are we doing here? Hello? Players are going to try and optimize the game and they're going to encounter players who are casual. This is a 100% likely reality that your game will encounter. Is the game still playable when that happens? If not, go back to alpha and try again. The game will fail in 2024 if it isn't addressed on release.
Role queue, or lack thereof. Another super ridiculous mistake asymm games often make. No option to queue for a specific role. This is a severe case of not paying attention and not doing your research. When any player talks about playing an asymmetrical game, they will almost say "I played X role on Y game today". Players are loading up these games because they feel like playing one role or the other. Removing the option to queue for a specific role has never been successful (to my knowledge). Why do devs keep trying it?
If you do make a more competitive game (VHS), make sure both roles are able to be competitive. Don't give every tool to one role and reduce the other role to a cooldown simulator. Again, a ridiculous design choice that could have been avoided with even a little effort.
Killer Klown devs have said day 1 patch is going to address weapon balancing since they're seeing how strong they are in early access. They'll also be turning on role preference system after early access. There's apparently a bunch of stuff that is supposed to be in day 1 patch.

It was the DBD logo for longest time because it was only neutral sided pic available. Was going to switch it to the pride bird because it's pretty but then they also added Maurice and Maurice is my favorite so had to make it Maurice.

It's not about the crows, it's about doing nothing.
I don't believe that one gets a DC ban when crawling.
Survivor stays in one spot so killer can just find and hook them when being slugged, gets crows while waiting, gets dc penalty: "should've crawled around, then you wouldn't get DC penalty."
Survivor crawls around to avoid DC penalty from idle crows: Killer "why do survivors crawl around when slugged, I have to bleed them out because now I can't find them."
-
I wish default they'd separate these. By time players realize they can change the button layout they don't want to because they're used to it being same one.

I am personally unaware of each member's platform of choice, but nobody would be turned away for playing on console.
That's good to hear console players wouldn't be turned away from the program. Hopefully if you do have any console players in the program you have ones from each platform. If there aren't any console players currently in the program hopefully now that it's public that this program exists you'll add some console players so their feedback/gameplay experience is included.
-
So someone that uses Knockout on group of solos to waste their time with bleed out can also get those survivors eat a DC penalty if they don't move around to avoid crows?

Hey folks, I see a lot of questions and confusion so I'm going to do my best to clear up as many as I can.
About the program itself:
- This program is not new, it has existed since shortly after the game's release. Previously consultants were not able to confirm they were part of the group without breaching their NDA. We have recently restructured the program and allowed members to say that they are members.
- Consultants are asked for opinions on upcoming changes and invited to closed playtests where they can give feedback.
- While the program itself is now public info, the details of what they are playtesting and/or giving feedback on are not. Please do not ask them what's going on in there, they cannot tell you.
- There is no public list of all consultants, nor do we plan to share one. We leave it up to each person to decide if they are comfortable disclosing it as it could attract unwanted attention and/or scrutiny.
About consultants and requirements:
- Consultants do not need to be content creators. While some are, others are not.
- There is no application process. We select and invite people who would be a good fit for the program and fill the needs we have in terms of experience with specific aspects of the game.
- Being selected as a consultant is not simply a reward for being a die-hard fan. Consultants are contractors who are paid and have certain responsibilities.
- Consultants have varying experience (e.g. Killers they've mastered), preferences, playstyles, and skill levels.
About the consultants role & responsibilities:
- Consultants must participate in closed playtests. Inactive consultants would be removed from the program and replaced with someone who is able to participate.
- It is a consultant's duty to give feedback on upcoming changes that are presented to them.
- Consultant feedback is used to help make informed decisions, but it is not the sole deciding factor. We need to keep in mind that consultants are highly experienced players and that their impressions may not always align with the wider community (though they often do).
- Consultants do not come up with balance changes and are not responsible for how things turn out. It falls on us to decide what needs to be acted upon. (Please do not harass consultants if there is a change you do not like.)
- Consultants are not QA - it is not their responsibility to test the game and find bugs.
Qualities we look for in consultants (among other traits):
- Trustworthy, as they are given information early
- A wide range of experience within the game (and ideally experts in certain areas)
- Able to provide constructive feedback
- Able to maintain a civil discussion with people who have differing opinions
- Able to set aside biases when giving feedback or acknowledge that their biases may be influencing their opinions
Most importantly, none of this means that your feedback doesn't matter. This program helps us gather feedback for changes early on in development and make adjustments before they are revealed. Once they hit the PTB, feedback from the wider community is just as important.
Do you have console players in the consultant program or is it pc player only?

Have too many favorites so a top 10 is hard to do. Since you mentioned finding movies from word of mouth I'm going to avoid naming classics (like Hitchcock, Hammer films, Universal Horror, etc), well known franchises (Halloween, F13, Jaws, etc) or ones others have already mentioned. For me a favorite horror movie is one I enjoy so much I can rewatch it. Some of these are more horror comedy than just straight up horror, but who doesn't enjoy some laughs with kills? π
- Fido
- Cutting Class
- Club Dread
- Popcorn
- Hush
- Cabin Fever
- Troll Hunter
- The Exorcism of Emily Rose
- Strangeland
- Killer Klowns from Outerspace

There's a bunch of different reasons why matchmaking is rough. Prioritizing wait time over proper matchmaking and lobby dodging breaking a lobby that could've actually had decent matchmaking are two reasons (of many) why you'll have what feels like such an mismatched lobby. While you may say "I'd rather they prioritize matchmaking over wait times" they have asked that question in quite a few surveys and people vote for shorter wait times every time.

Summer 2023 I started playing less and then around Nic Cage release I completely stopped - game just kept losing the fun for me and I burnt myself out playing trying to get rifts completed. I occasionally log in to get large log in rewards/enter codes in case I do return someday. Hopped on and played 3 rounds of the April Fools mode to check it out. I keep eye on forums/socials to keep up on any changes that are coming to the game - used to have a ton of fun playing and hold out hope maybe some there will be changes that will make the game fun for me again.

I think it was couple years ago that we had a midchapter that focused on bug fixes - no perk/killer changes just bug fixes. People complained SO much that there wasn't anything new in the midchapter. There's no way they'd skip adding new content on a chapter patch when people complained during a midchapter patch.

No idea. This is a perk that doesn't need to exist. I've literally only ever seen it used for griefing purposes. It does nothing positive for the game. It's not an option we need to give players.

One is an unfinished game that's still in beta, the other is a finished 7 year old game. Alot of the criticism in that post can be applied to DBD. Hopefully someone at BHVR told that dev to maybe not make posts like that on their LinkedIn (or any other social media that shows they are a BHVR employee) because they just brought in alot of unnecessary negative attention to DBD that the community managers are going to have to deal with.

Lunar New Year was my favorite event. I made multiple posts praising the event every year I played it. I'm pretty bummed they aren't doing it this year. I haven't played since Nic Cage was released and was going to come back for this event since it's my favorite but since they're not doing it I'm going to continue my DBD break.

I play alot of different ones. Could make a long list but going to keep it short.
Recently finished solo game: Far Cry 6. Love the animal amigos and feeding the wildlife. Rest of game was good too but animal bits made the game for me. π
Current solo game is Cyberpunk 2077. Started this one awhile ago but had stopped playing when I heard there was going to be a big patch that changed up gameplay and DLC that added endings.

I watched Scream 1-5 as they came out, I was 10 when the first one came out and have loved it since the first time I saw it. It was the go to movie at every sleep over I had. As I've gotten older I've gained new appreciation for it. It will always be #1.
Scream 2 I love. It's a solid sequel and it once it came out every sleepover was a Scream double feature. Love this movie and still do, it'll stay at #2.
Scream 3 I know alot of people don't like this one but I love it. I love all the extra little Easter eggs Wes threw in. I wish they had ended the series on this one because it's perfect to end the series. It's my #3.
Scream 4. I wasn't a fan. All the other Scream movies I wasn't sure who the killer was for pretty much the entire movie but Scream 4 was first one I instantly knew who the killer was and I spent the entire movie hoping I was wrong. The movie is OK but didn't hit the spot for me like the first 3. It stays at #4
Scream 2022 - I went into this one hopeful but ended out hating it. Guessed the killers right away which is so disappointing. For me it didn't feel like a Scream movie, it just felt like a bad remake/reboot money grab and it was missing the heart Wes brought to the movies. Also the Dewey death felt like they did it just to kill off an original character and it was a crappy kill - he deserved a better death than that. It's last.
Scream 6 - I didn't see it, and I won't see it. I wasn't happy with the 2022 movie and then they wouldn't pay Neve Campbell what she deserved which instantly made me go from "maybe" to "never." I really couldn't care less about the characters they introduced in the 2022 movie. There's nothing about it that makes me want to spend any time watching it.
