But a large proportion of people likely will given how much folks complain about SWF. You have the option to face 4 survivors likely not on comms that will be less efficient at coordinating thus making for a more balanced game vs a highly coordinated group that is likely on comms giving them a seriously unbalanced advantage. Most people, even those that like a challenge, will likely pick to former 9 times out of 10 and who would blame them. Add in the new killer lock and you'll have a wait queue nightmare with never ending lobby dodging.

There is no value in telegraphing SWF that benefits the game overall, it just gives people justification to dodge.

So all the other points don't exist because people can dodge. Nothing of value would be added because people would dodge. Thats one way to make a poor argument.

Not everyone will dodge git gud. <--- heres another example of one to help you get better at it.

You can't read, that specifically says they are going to discuss what system is in more detail. It doesn't provide any specifics on what they are going to discuss. This thread is about a specific thing not a generalization.

The reason I want to make sure they specifically talk about this statement is because for years now the devs have said they want their game balanced around a 2k and to escape, yet this game still tells killers they have failed and loss the round if they get a 2k by displaying the message "Entity Displeased"

BHVR has never been great with words or choosing how to announce things, I know this and I believe many of them can admit to this. Shoot they have made at least two meme's out of their wording "pretty good job so far" and more recently "end game perk" with the ruin change.

I know and talk with the devs in their streams, I don't think BHVR does this on purpose or anything like that. I actually really love this game and have been in favor of almost every change they have done to date. But I am also smart enough to realize that they need to be asked specific questions.

I do not expect a dev to answer this thread, as it appears you think I do. They devs respond to like 3 out 30 threads, but they and their mods at least read most of them (And I freaking love when Pea's gets sassy in the threads). This is simply meant to make sure they understand they need to answer what "a fair match is" and that it isn't something they can gloss over.

Now excluding your inability to understand simple question so to help here is an example using their wording, just because they say something like "explaining the system in detail", this could simply mean they are going to explain how the system generates a MMR value, which could be things like, how fast the killer downed someone, did the killer slug everyone and only 1-hook every body, did the killer never use their power and relied on perks alone. All of which would be explaining the system in more detail, but doesn't really describe what an objectify fair match is.

Yes it says the will go into more detail with a Q&A soon as well as MAKE their own posts with MORE details Mr. I can read.

Heres a magic trick to make them come faster.................. Wait.

Ranks do mean nothing that's correct. I'm trying to say if you really believe killer is unbalanced then your incorrect. In those 9/10 games I mentioned you think they were all solo players? They weren't.

Against a really good swf then the game is unbalanced in the survivors favoured but that is extremely, extremely rare.

To me survivor seeing killer and killer seeing survivor are both busted. They both bring unfair advantages that I believe wouldn't work at the highest level.

I'm super scared lol oh no a spirit with green add-ons what am I going to do?! 😂

Here's my main point. 95% of swfs are bad. No matter what everyone tries to tell you this is a fact. So I don't think it's fair that your encouraging a killer to bring an ebony mori (which we all know they will) or busted add-ons like Iridescent Head. I also don't think it would be fun facing the exact same killers every single game because you need to "play sweaty killers to have any chance of winning". I also don't want killers blaming a lose on an "unbalanced" game when it could just be that they played really bad.

I remember telling a story of a 4 man swf I faced recently. I don't know how to link other discussions so here is screenshots of what I said. Most people would've brought a sweaty build or dodged but I was confident in my abilities and wasn't going to make any excuses.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/QAGF1YWIPJXA/screenshot-20200721-142629-chrome.jpg

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/038E7A9HP6G0/screenshot-20200721-142637-chrome.jpg

Never said that all SWF were god tier gamers

Never said that killer was unbalanced

SAID that rank does not equate to skill

Now why would I think this way

Because I think it would be a good addition for the killer to know they might have the off chance of facing a fabled 4 man sweat squad before the game starts so they could bring something better or dodge if they are a coward.

However this will BALANCE OUT THE BLATANTLY STRONG THING with a mediocre thing that will tell people prep better for the match or get out.

Even a crappy 4 man swf is more powerful then 4 solo survivors and is above the killer in terms of who has an advantage. which is why killers should be able to better prepare.

Easy to say when that time they spent walking could have meant the difference between escaping or not. I've seen a lot of games with SB runners come down to 1 gen or a hook save end up in multiple downs because they took too long.

    don't like randoms play swf

don't have friends then don't complain about the randoms

Without them you wouldn't have a game to play

I feel like you are not understand the point of this thread. Its meant to make sure the devs know they need to clarify this point for the community. No where in their current post do they specifically discuss what they are going to go over, they simply say

That’s great! We are planning on doing more posts explaining the system in detail, as well as Q&As with the developers who have been working on it. Keep your eyes on the forums and official Dead by Daylight social media channels to learn more.

Which doesn't mean they are going to clarify this specific issue. This thread really is only meant to make sure the devs understand that they need to clarify what this means.

    I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS!

I understand that, but if the devs are saying you are going to be matched against people to create a "objectively fair for everyone in the game." then they have defined terms that create an "objectively fair for everyone in the game." and they really need to let their community know that.

If you wanted an official description wait for one the devs said they would give you one so rather then ask for it early and annoy people wait like everyone else.

One can only predict that having killers locked in place, will in fact cause more 6 second survivor switch.

Devs have told us time and time again, everything they test gets abused by survivors, no doubt this will too.

I just hope you can switch between killers with the same or similar mmr but not like killers with 2000 mmr and killers with 6

You do realise that killers are different with different abilities and survivors are just skins?

About the items you can always change your build if you want to use franklins for example.

You guys need to stop with this whining thing im getting sick of it honestly.

You can change your base build but you cant swap for a quick switch at 6 seconds before the game starts and they can quick switch to 4 keys/toolboxs/flashlights/ item that you didn't expect them to bring because you haven't seen it for the past 54 seconds.

Make us stop whining yourself coward

You may say killer is weaker on average but statistically you are incorrect. I've played a lot of killer at red ranks and you generally get 3/4k in 9/10 games.

It also isn't a balance to swf. Your just encouraging the killer to being an ebony mori or broken add-ons.

I'd say killer seeing survivor and survivor seeing killer are both equally broken. Now that the new matchmaking system won't allow the killer to swap characters I'd say it is definitely more broken on the survivor side.

Sorry but their is no good reason to show whether your facing a swf or not. If you see after the game that it is a swf then that is better. If anything I actually think the survivors names should be hidden in the pregame lobby so the killer doesn't change his build based off someone he doesn't like.

Rank isn't a good measure of skill and never was its more a measure of how much you play month to month.

That sounds like balance to me both sides being strong is better than everyone is weak or the group are weaker for playing in a party.

Killer just seeing if they are swf is way less busted then survivor seeing killer and killer not being able to switch, oh its a trapper red twine maps or rainbow maps with slippery meat terrace, most killers have so many simple counters that people having complete loadouts against them to ruin their day.

Literally listed good reasons you just don't like any of them because you don't care that the unbalanced thing is unbalanced and killers deciding to bring a green and yellow addon instead of two browns for a casual match is scary for you.

  • @MeatBycicle said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1458669#Comment_1458669

So its okay though for a 4 man to have a huge advantage over the killer right? Survivors try to push blame on killers saying they just want easy solo queue games, yet that is exactly what every SWF group wants; an easy escape.

I mean its what a killer wants when they bring a mori an easy game this would just let those two sides meet more often I guess easy vs easy is better than bored for 4 minutes vs. already out and being toxic in after game chat

  • Myers distracts the entity with his sexy legs and only gets yelled at after the match when the entity noticed

Pyramid head particiaptes in the sacrifice process but then decided at the end wouldn't it be faster if I just bonked them on the ground, went home that night drafted up a suggestion in 12point, MLA format, Times new roman, printed it and stuck it in the suggestion box. 2 weeks later higher up okayed it and thats why he can bonk people.

  • @CashelP14 said:

So how about we apply your logic to survivor. Here are reasons why the survivors should know which killer they are facing.

    1. The ability to bring the correct item to match the killer your facing.
    2. The ability to not bring dead perks against certain killers.
    3. If I'm playing a survivor I'm not used to I can then be prepared. Being a taller character or harder to blend character will make it tough so I might want to change to my someone else.
    4. Lets me anticipate a map offering. Seeing a stealth killer might make me except a hawkins or a lerys offering.
    5. Let's me know if I should dodge a lobby. Maybe I don't want to face Spirit every single game so let's dodge!

You see how everything I said is basically the opposite to what you said? You see how your idea won't work. Let's actually add more.

    1. I know the killers name. This could be someone who will target me or is toxic so I can dodge or bring stronger items.
    2. Let's me know if the killer is good or not by checking their trophies. This means more sweat or dodge.

This is what will happen when a swf joins the lobby:

    • Killer swaps to someone stronger.
    • Survivors change perks and items to compensate.
    • Killer swaps to someone else.
    • Survivors change their perks and items to compensate.
    • This goes on till the killer last minute swaps or until someone dodges.

I'll say it again. 95% of swf teams are bad so your just punishing bad players who want to enjoy playing with their friends. When I play with my mates I don't want to face Spirits, with really good add-ons and an ebony mori every other game. This one change would drive a lot of people away from the game.

The reason im applying it to killer seeing swf and not survivor knowing which killer is because

    1. killer is on average weaker or equal to a team of 2 man swf and knocked down 1-2 pegs for 3 man and 4 man respectivly
    2. This is a way to balance swf without giving them some sort of penalty or limiting them to how many people they have, how many times they can play together, nerfing gens speed or some other countermeasue.
    3. Survivor seeing killer is way more influential to the game then killer seeing swf. Knowing if its a slug heavy killer means everyone will have unbreakable, knowing its a chase heavy killer will ensure everyone has resilience or iron will, knowing its a stealth killer will have people running spine chill and other killer detection perks, killer seeing swf can just put on a stronger perk or two not a full loadout that would make the match 20x easier for the survivors
    4. killer perks matter more then individual survivor perks, a team of 4 man swf has 16 survivor perks at their disposal well a killer only has 4 having a dead perk as killer is much more influential to a match then 1 of a teams 16 perks not working.
    5. last minute switching would still throw off matches anyway on both sides now going from a wraith vs. 4 flashlights to a lightborn better killer in general.
  • @Poochkips said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/173135/reasons-why-killers-should-be-able-to-see-if-survivors-are-in-groups

    1) No because often more than not people bring the killers they want to or high tiers as it is. Some people runnkillers for fun, but if you care more about what's good more than fun, you're going to play whats good anyway. So I dont understand the point in this one. I play pig even when I see a 4 man swf, shes not great, but I have fun with her more than say Billy or spirit.

    2) Dead perks? The only time anyone's gonna run "dead perks" is if they're only playing for fun anyway or builds that have synergy. Example being oni with KO and DS etc.

    3) killers trying new killers a fair chance? What. Just what.

    4) I've personally never had a problem with SWF bringing offerings to those maps. Not saying it never happens, but definitely don't think its as bad a problem. The maps are very iffy as it. If youre going to anticipate map offerings for problem maps, the devs should just look into fixing the maps. Not only that, just like there are survivor sided maps, there are killer sided maps as well.

    5) just be real here and say that 1-4 should be void and that you should just be allowed to lobby dodge rooms because that's really what this is all about

The devs should just make a toggle switch where you can choose to play against swf or not que against them. Some people care others really don't. Only time I hate SWF is when they're overly toxic. Then again its DBD. Both sides are toxic as hell.

    1. People will probably be already playing their favorite it just protects them from trying something new and being throttled or playing something they aren't confident with
    2. If someone is trying to have fun they should at least know if they can use the things they want without them being dead perks due to swf communication
    3. First experiences with killers is important and being trounced by a 4 man isn't a fun first outing
    4. Your personal experience doesn't speak for everyone but from my 1200 hours at high ranks it is around 90% of the time its a 4 man they have a map offering
    5. this was more for the cowards and the people who fear failure personally ill just put on a stronger killer, perks or addons then say bring it on. or if its a swf with a key then ill bring a mori.
  • you have 1200 hours and haven't come up with either the facts

    1 use survive with friends

2 if you don't have friends just use object of obsession, off the record, decisive strike, and iron will

It's not strong at all the vault build became popular because killers hit you even when you take steps so dont come here talking that bull #########.

The vault part isnt stupidly strong the strong part is it has the vault part on top of being a busted detection perk

  • Honestly it breaks the 3 stealth killers and basically makes you play the game on easy mode because as soon as it lights up you can start running or just hide and play immersed 10 minutes in advance before the killer even makes it over to your area.

On top of that it has the passive up vaulting things faster which is extremely strong especially when combined with resilience

  • Maybe just add the walking in your own gas speeds up by 2.5% with the 115% base rather then make him a 110% speed. because he would then have even less map presence be cause he now gets everywhere a second or two slower

  • Dying light, thanatophobia, Hex the third seal, Iron Maiden, and Unrelenting are some perks that could be buffed or changed

My personal thoughts on them are

Dying light no longer buffs the obsession and instead just losses 1 stack if they are hooked and 5/4/3 if killed

Thanataphobia affects vault speeds or is 4% per survivor at all levels and has a bonus 0/1/2% percent slowdown perk killed survivor

Iron Maiden staying in lockers too long 15/12/10 seconds injures a survivor or causes injured survivors to gain mangled after 5 seconds and hemorrhage after 5 more or increase duration of exposed.

Hex the third seal give killers a freddy effect where they cant be seen outside of a certain distance along with the blindness

Unrelenting decrease speed always including hitting windows or pallets.

  • Find the weak link of the team and kill them which will basically guarantee a win with 1-2 gens left with minimum effort the more gens the bigger of a safety net this strategy creates

  • There are perks, addons, and powers that remove red stain but it is both an integral part on the survivor side for information and on the killer side to use for mindgames

Undetectable removes red stain perks like beast of prey, tinkerer, dark devotion, insidious, and trial of torment

Killers with powers that remove red stain, Wraith, Pig, ghost face, Tier 1 Myers, Demogorgon travel (can be modified to be longer with addons)

Killers with addons that remove red stain Wraith the ghost, Doctor discipline, Nurse bad mans last breath, Pyramid head obsidian goblet

If you dislike your red stain enough any combination of any of these can provide game-play without red stain for consistency I would recommend Doctor with 2 discipline or iridescent king with bbq, dark devotion, Save the best for last, and PGTW

  • @Snowbawlzzz said:

Would be good if it worked with PGTW. Unfortunately, slowing down gens is illegal.

I would not say that the Cages are in a perfectly fine place, not at all.

They are, they make the established meta less of a sure shot which makes people run less of the meta perks and instead run more interesting ones if every perk worked with cages it would lose its power over the game which would make it less of a addition to the game

Thanks for going to insults, feels great. No, no I do not. I read your points, I didn't agree with them, I didn't know it was a requirement to agree with any and all points you make great one. Again, why should we have to run a certain build just on the possibility that we MIGHT get one killer out of like 20. Also again, 3 of those perks are from paid DLC. What if you're not playing SWF, what if you're playing solo q? What if you don't WANT to play SWF. SWF should not be the counter to a killer.

How about you drop the ######### attitude and people might be more willing to listen to you.

Heres the thing thats a general build I specifically made it a general build that works against 17/20 killers 100% of the time maybe if you read it which you would know because you "read it" instead of gazing at the first point then just slapping your wrong button. It could be more tailored towards spirit then it is but as it stands that build is great regardless of killer.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1439112#Comment_1439112

They should. All Hook Perks should work for Cages.

It is simply bad design that they dont work for them. It would also give the Cages more use for the Killer instead of just saving the Tormented-Status until the end for the fast kill.

And the Cages would not be useless, because while the Survivor would get their Perks, the Killer would get theirs as well and still has a time-saving, secure way to "hook" the Survivor.

Hiding the Cage Auras was a good start, but since the Cages can be predicted and "far away from the Killer" does not mean that they are actually far away will just continue to be a problem.

You see this is the point of a new mechanic, its new not everything works with it on the survivor side or killer side removing all of the cool mechanics around it when its in a perfectly fine place would just make the game worse.

  • Great so if cages work for that they should also work for, bbq, pgtw, devour soap, make your choice, and 22 other strong killer perks.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1439049#Comment_1439049

So now you're saying to viably counter Spirit, one killer, you may need to run up to at least 4 perks as part of your mandatory build. Because she has no viable tells. 3 of which require paid dlc or getting lucky on the shrine. And if you're already in a chase what good will Spinechill do for you really? Unbreakable has one use, you get back up she slugs you again. You run No Mither you basically gave her an insta down, and she can still see your scratchmarks or hear you breathing in a locker.

Do you suffer from delusions of grandeur that you would be the best player in the game had spirit been nerfed hard enough and are upset to the point that you don't even bother reading other peoples points you just complain until they give up and you think you got your way. Not only did I say it was a build that you could use, I gave you arguably one of the strongest builds to swf the other thing that counters spirit.

  • @RoMainPuppy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1438902#Comment_1438902

So you're basically saying always run at least 2 perks to counter a killer you may not even go against. Nice good balanced.

Killers can see survivors in lobby in an attempt to ready up, survivors don't get that option.

Most people already run iron will as a default adding the other one for aura blocking most of the time isn't bad heres a build for you that is good that you will complain about anyway

    Iron Will

    Object of obsession

    Off the record

Decisive strike/Unbreakable/Spinechill (more up to user)

This build works in that you never have injured sounds when off the record is active nor does object reveal you while knowing where the killer is. giving you large periods of one sided viewing and depending on the 4th perk invincibility against being slugged or tunneled but not both.

Here is a completely viable solo and even better team build to use

If you dislike it enough 2 perks are a small price to pay instead of complaining and spending hours of your life on the forums just to tell people this 2nd best killer btw is not fair

Stridor counters Iron Will on Spirit. Also you're basically saying to beat a good Spirit you need SWF.

Wouldnt hurt to be swf also stridor doesnt counter iron will stacked with no mither or with the active effect of off the record,
