I understand where you are coming from but moris were always stronger. I knew this even before. It would of been better to nerf the keys and moris at the same time but keys need more work. Moris are also really common in the blood webs for whatever reason.

I'm all for a nerf keys into the grounds as I dont use them.

moris are extremely common actually, pretty much 1 per 3 bloodwebs or more because 2 can spawn in bloodwebs sometimes

but most players just accepted them as broken and swore off using them

personally I had 1 scenario which I used a mori

    3 keys in a row

but other than that no moris

  • @Lazerboy88 said:

Moris are fine and still have use, you can deny a DS flashlight save etc, and get a cool kill animation. They are fine.

    cool kill animation fine

nerfing one sides item that skips portions of gameplay but not the other bad

nerfing the one to the point where the only balance would end up being if the key can only open hatch and chests faster / with rarer items

  • new keys should only do 2 things, let the last survivor get hatch, and open chests faster, thats it

you're telling me what my own reasoning for posting is? what? even after i told you? why do you know my own reasoning better than me?

i got mad? i said: "it wouldnt affect swf that much if the devs feel that way then they should add it to all survivors" and that counts as getting mad?

well if you weren't going to tell me thought I might as well extrapolate for the information I had while you stay your hand by saying there was a reason but im not going to tell you

still didn't give the reason btw

also my reasoning was it would still affect swf by making their information better which apparently you took a disliking to so yea I would consider it mad

  • @azame said:

So I want to start off and say you cant complain about keys not being nerfed when it isnt just a number change and mori is. The nerf will come in due time so let's give the devs time.

To start before the nerf people were down with the nerf to mori despite never using them. If you ask any killer main here they will say they rarely use moris. But now that it's been nerfed why are these same killer mains complaining about it being "useless".

I seriously cant understand how we people are getting angry about an objectively broken thing getting nerfed, and claiming bias. It doesnt look good and atleast on my experience I can say killers are more whiny and it kinda shows but let's ignore that for now and think about this.

What if keys were to be nerfed first and moris left under the guise of "moris are rarely used". Guarenteed any complaint from a survivor is shut down because everyone knows survivors are the oppressors and killers are the oppressed.

That's just speculation but I'd say its accurate for what it is.

I mean I can complain that keys not being nerfed because to remove one or the other but not both at the same time for these item is a good design choice, shadow nerfing them is still kinda annoying but more understandable but nerfing one but not the other instead of waiting for both just isn't a good change, right direction, wrong method/timing

yes I know moris need to be nerfed, and yes I know keys need to be nerfed, but for the sake of temporary balance its not good

and the amount moris got nerfed is a bit much and the only key nerf I can think on par with it would be last survivor can open hatch with key

  • yea its kinda a throwaway addon with that status effect and numbers, might as well pump the numbers or add a second effect to it because right now its useless

i quote you for all except:

"the purpose of this post is to put forth a suggestion that lowers the currently huge information gap between solo q survivors and swf"

which is why i made this post

the rest is just me replying to all of your comments individually

no the reason you made this post was to theorize a buff to solo queue

and my reasoning was the devs don't want to buff only solo queue they want to buff all survivors as a whole or not at all

then you got mad that anyone would dare bring what the devs said into your discussion and got defensive

then what's your problem with it?

"how would the killer not know about a universal change?"

    thats what i'm saying

"yes your missing an example of another perk providing information that can be countered or mindgamed but most people not bothing and giving the other side free information to work with"

i feel this reply turns a blind eye to the reason i made this post so i will post it here for you to consider:

"the purpose of this post is to put forth a suggestion that lowers the currently huge information gap between solo q survivors and swf"

"yes it does its midwich and, most hooks on that map 5:4, are at corners or have the courtyard doors to lose los behind"

idk about you but most of the time when i get downs in midwhich the closest hook is in front of a room

"you physically didn't ask for a specific scenario I met your terrible wording with a blanket statement that should have covered what you wanted your statement is interpreted as why would swf be better in the scenario than without basekit kindred and my answer of more accurate information should have had you ask about a specific example not be petty about it because you can't think for yourself of a scenario using my blanket statement"

the page with my exact wording is now on the previous page so i can't quote the part where i ask you to provide a play that contradicts what i said. But unfortunately this site deletes my unpublished comment if i leave this page to copy it to paste the exact wording for you to see for yourself but rest assured everytime you mention it i go back and look at it and reaffirm that i did ask you to provide a play. i am not sure if you arguing this for its own sake or what. it seems like you would like my first comment to you to be "put up or shut up" as everything is too subtle.im not sure what your getting out this. i definitely asked and i definitely reread my original comment to make sure i asked and i did. i asked for a play to enlighten me. is that not asking for a play?

still can't read anything you write, you just have a way with words but backwards

Mori's were not counters to keys. If it was, it would directly effect keys but it doesn't. You kill the person and the key is still in play. Franklin's Demise is the actual counter. You could argue a key is instant win and mori is instant win. But there is a major difference. Keys are used as a last resort or as a use when they already finished with the gens. Game is already over. But Mori's. There is no counter for a mori besides hiding in a cabinet till killer DC's. AND can be used any time. Hook a survivor? Great! Camp him/her and tunnel 2 mins into the match. So no. Keys don't need to change. Mori's have needed it for a long time

keys can be used to skip a portion of the game, moris can be used to skip a portion of the game, they are the same thing and BOTH needed changes, just wishful thinking to have them both at the same time

so you're saying if a killer didnt know kindred was in effect he would attempt to bait the hooked survivor into giving the wrong call out and change direction when out of view and kindred would show the juke and make this impossible?

you're basing an argument against a universal change on lack of information?

the term 'universal change' and 'doesn't know' don't mesh.

how would the killer not know about a universal change?

am i missing something? is my top sentence wrong?let me know.

im using an argument based on previous knowledge and experience of how survivors react to the most common killer perk bbq

the term 'universal change' and 'doesn't know' don't mesh.

bbq pretty universal, and 99% of survivors don't know or don't care

"but if you think other plays are possible please enlighten me on why auras in this exact situation are so much better than call outs" this is what i said

you didnt give a situation in either of your next 2 replies

your just stalling now. throw out a situation or stop replying

    alright here you go

indoor map, survivor is put on hook by killer, based on where he is moving they can see the killer is going after X generator, but the killer decides to go to another generator and because he is behind the wall the swf give bad information to their teammates and the survivor on the gen he was seemingly going after wastes time, and the survivor that he caught out from being on the gen he actually went to takes an early hit and takes chase

indoor map but with kindred, survivor is put on hook by killer, due to aura reading through walls the survivors see the killer change direction to go after the other gen instead of the one it looked like they were going for first, swf have more time to spend on their 2 gens while the 3rd guy prepares to take chase with a reasonable head start

in most maps and all indoor maps being able to track where the killer is looking and going after hooking a is pretty impactful and can be used to great effect to play efficiently as a swf team and bully killers harder because now they can look through walls after they get hooked

    happy with your specific scenarios

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/211953/mori-nerf-is-too-much-especially-since-keys-will-still-be-better-after-being-nerfed

I dont get why your trying to compare 2 completly different things. Keys still allow the killer to play the entire game. But a mori only allows someone to play for like 30 seconds when they get farmed off the hook and tunnled down and killed. Most of the time there isnt even anytbing tbey could do about it.

A key on the other hand, the killer still gets to do everything they want, they still get to hook survivors and everything. But the survivor gets out a bit early AFTER being able to play the game.

What really looked more unfair to begin with? A salty killer not being able to get that 4k cuz of a key? Or the survivor who only got to play 1 min of the game because of an offering?

There is no argument here to be made. Just baby killers that are mad about not being able to tunnel people off their first hook.

why would I compare 2 different things in the same game of the same power level to each other when they are constantly talked about together and provide the same means to an end, idk just because I wanted to I guess

heres my comparisons for you, both a key and a mori allow you to cut certain aspects of the game short, killers cutting down hooks on survivors and survivors cutting down the gens they need to finish to escape

now remember that its a 4v1, there are 4 survivors or more right now for every killer, there is a higher amount and higher chance they have and or use keys than the killer uses moris, and yes I get that they are more situational but with a minimum of 4x as much keys that situation will happen more than you think. and its not a fun one, to this extent both of them need to be changed, but preferentially both would have been changed at the same time not one before the other or vice versa, if keys were nerfed I would still be on here complaining that happened before moris instead

and yes now baby wraith 8895 might whine that he didn't get his first hook mori anymore, but im just complaining that the balance of the game has been temporarily thrown off because once sides quintessential cut the game shorter item has been nerfed before the other one and not at the same time

I think the change is positive overall, but I think the decision to drop this change, whether it was ready or not, without addressing the equivalent problem on the survivor side was downright bad.

you could use kindred to make some of those plays and the point of this is to show how it lessens the information divide between solo and swf.

the fact that you couldn't bring up an actual situation is telling

it wouldnt affect swf that much if the devs feel that way then they should add it to all survivors

lol, im right because you didn't say this specific thing that I didn't ask for

of course if you didn't ask for an example you didn't get one

this is just a good example of bad discussion skills on display from you

  • @Mandy said:

Or if you look at it the other way, the Developers are neither survivor or killer sided and make the changes purely based on game health - same when putting in mechanics that affected survivors, like the toolbox changes, adding in exhaustion, healing changes. With keys being infinitely more complicated to change, rather than the simple condition change for Mori, and it improving the health of the game it does seem completely logical to put that change into place as quickly as possible rather than wait until the key change was ready to be released.

technically they weren't infinitly more difficult to change because when moris were first changed in patch 1.5.3 to include the stipulation of you have to hook a survivor it was probably harder than this current change because not only did they set up the framework to make that possible they also set up the framework to make that modifiable, so like probably only 2-3 times harder because a few addons and animations

  • my thought was change keys to only allow opening hatch if you are the last survivor, and buff left behind to find a purple key in chests with your first search

They fail to see all the nerfs survivor add-ons have gotten , The only people the Mori change affects are bots who tunnel off first hook and insta kill a survivor and try to act like they're a god at the game , I'm glad it got changed so now those people get ######### all over I have zero respect for any killer that tunnels and immediately Moris and tries to act like they're good at the game with trash talk in the end game

even if I did do something like that "only to people with keys regular players only got deathhook mori" I wouldn't trash talk the endgame chat, every game ends with a gg whether I win or lose, its how the survivors react to the gg that depends on if I roast them or not

  • @MrDardon said:

    Moris before 4.4.1.

    • Allows you to kill Survivors who have been hooked at least once.

    Moris after 4.4.1.

    • Allows you to kill Survivors who have been hooked at least twice.

Not to mention how Moris worked back in 2016. Back in 2016, you could Mori Survivors on their first down. It was extremely overpowered. It got changed with the Doctor's release in May 2017.

actually those changes are off from the ingame description, it allows you to mori a survivor who has reached second stage on the hook

You can't know what the devs will do. Not defending them or anything, but as a killer main I personally thought that moris were a bigger problem. I deal with keys at least twice a day, and I've never had them used because I killed them too quickly, even when I wasn't playing Nurse. If I were in charge of balance, I would use this as a band-aid fix until we could nerf keys, and then do the real fix to moris at the same time. Keep in mind that keys are much harder to rework, due to them having add-ons that also need fixing. My biggest issue with the mori change it that it wasn't a shadow-nerf, like it should have been, and now everyone will spam moris until they're nerfed.

it was a shadow nerf, moris are already nerfed

I'm not lying, I literally said "no on is bringing 4 BNPS", go and check the reply you quoted with your picture, you're the one that made this pedantic, you couldn't even see that I said "no one is using 4 BNPS" and "BNPS aren't being used as much as PGTW" and see that the "no one " was not a literal "no one". I'm not lying, you're just decided which parts of my comment to see or not, doesn't make you any less of a cheater either way.

yes and your first point was literally no one brings bnps, jumping ship because you were proved wrong without admitting you were wrong, something im not going to deal with, either own up to you mistakes or stop trying to discuss with me

also its not cheating to have a dot in the middle of your screen for a killer you don't play if survivors can have stretched res which is arguably 10 x more impactful

  • I think people forget that whataboutism with keys and moris was so that it was a level playing field so one didn't get nerfed without the other

no one really brought anything else into it, it was keys need nerfs but so do moris, or moris need nerfs or so do keys, not moris exist so ds is fine

  • @Seanzu said:

If we're going to be pedantic about it I actually said "no one is bringing 4 bnps" you provided evidence of 3 BNPS, therefore what I have said is indeed correct, i then continue to say no one is using BNPs are much as PGTW, acknowledging that yes I know BNPs are being used and the no one is obviously not literal.

But sure, ignore me and continue cheating my guy <3

Even when presented evidence that you said otherwise you can lie through your teeth like a pro

no you can't sudden jump stances mid argument just to cover your tracks about being wrong while also claiming that someone else is wrong, either make points you standby or don't make the points at all

not gonna deal with someone like you who will keep changing their argument so that it makes the other person wrong and you in the right, that's not how discussion works that's how arguing works. Either agree, or disagree, come up with compromises so both people leave happy. don't discuss to win its not a competition

Mori's have been an offering that's been complained about for a long time (as are keys), and we declared some time back that we would be making adjustments to both of these items. We didn't say it would be the same time, in fact the key rework is going to take some time longer as the mori was a much quicker fix to implement as it was just a change of conditions whilst keys might need an animation rework, addon pass etc

Also, it's fair to say that mori's are stronger than keys - a mori can end a match much quicker than a key can as there's more conditions to being able to use a key, gens have to be completed or the killer has to have killed the other survivors etc, there's infinitely more gameplay around keys than there is mori's - perks also can affect keys, whereas there's no counterplay to a mori at all.

wheres to counterplay to finding a key in the middle of a match

    image.png

sorry for only 3 but I don't usually screenshot endscreens with bnps on them, but look 3 bnps and 4 toolboxes with 24 charges at 200% speed, 16 charges at 170% speed, 44 charges at 150% speed

that's 75% of gens worth of bnps and 84 seconds of gens of toolboxes at varying speeds, good thing I had pop to counter them

I do think it is logical to assume this change in Mori will result in:

    1. More tunneling (and early) as tunneling will be the only effective use of them.
    2. More Survivors bringing in lots of Keys and leaving via the hatch.
    3. Survivor Ques are going to get a lot longer.

I just don't think this was a great tweak of the Mori, but we shall see. At the very least I think they should have held off on it until the Keys were adjusted at the same time. I expect a severe drop in people playing Killer for awhile because of the Key explosion.

Why be nice when the playerbase has been treated like ######### for years? You can't just hug it out in every situation and expect people to change. Yes, it's from the word of a mod, and they are not responsible for the changes, but they are still essentially the messenger, and just like a messenger, they then report back the responses from the message receiver. Nobody ever learns if you baby them all the time.

I don't need to baby them but you don't need to hate them, they are the messenger who is the messenger, while you don't have to like them if you don't want to there is no need to hate them when all their trying to do is give news in hopes it calms tensions down

oh wow, it takes 4 whole people, and PGTW still has more uses than what 4 whole people can bring? ruh roh.

ah yes a killer giving up 1/4 of their entire build is stronger than 4 survivors giving up one addon slot, (not really)

heres the math at most if you play for a 8 hook before any survivor die game is the max value you get out of pop 2 full gens any more or a survivor is already dead is nearly useless at that point

the survivors still have the tool boxes that they used to bnp have you ever faced 4 tool boxes, even on the low end they would still have 16 charges each with brown tool boxes which is almost a whole other gen in 58.6666666667 so besically low end the survivors start with 5 reverse pops with of free progress, LOW END, it can go higher, and you think thats fair since they start the game with it, thats like pop starting with 5 uses any time you want

good team with 1 key < good killer with 1 mori < good team with 2 or MORE keys

imma just leave this here for you

Except BNP = one time use with chance to miss skill checks not even getting the 25%

PGTW - Multiple uses per matches for hooking survivors... like you normally would.

BNP 4 times use per team, up to 1 hole generator of progress before the killer has any counterplay due to crossing the map

PGTW situation reward for playing the game normally, a win more perk that requires you to go out of your way to use it, even if it took you 3 seconds to reach a gen and 2 seconds to kick it you still spent more time doing that than the survivor team individually if it took any longer

Easier doesn't mean better. In fact, since you said this, means you just revealed and proved the balance team is super lazy. Oof

hey be nice, they are just the peace keeper, don't pour gasoline on their words and be surprised when you can light them ablaze

Its a much needed and welcome change. I'm not saying that with any bias because I will be popping champagne bottles when they nerf keys into the ground, too.

don't get me wrong, im happy to see the change, just not one before the other

"It requires you to chase someone, down them, hook them, and come over to a non-regressing generator."

Oh, it requires you to play the game normally as if you weren't even running the perk? Darn, takes so much effort to use PGTW.

oh and what do you need for bnp again, playing the game normally as if you weren't even running the addon, touch a gen and hit skillchecks

as if that suddenly balances when they can get them throughout the game and killer suddenly has a pop at the start too counter your free progress you got while they had to cross the map

Nope, I'll just kill them with a Reverse Bear Trap like I always do.

reverse bear traps suddenly prevent survivors from hatch escapes, never knew that one

2-3 man escapes still requires the survivors to get gens done. Key nerfs are going to come, but they aren't nearly as game changing as moris and it's fine that moris got hit before keys.

they should be as game changing as moris because right now the only form of balance I can see is if keys can open the hatch for the last survivor, thats the only way to get a item to be on the same 1v1 power level for a team that can bring 4 of them
