well a laptop or a PC is going to cost you an arm & a leg, that being said if you dont mind console then id recommend the ps4/ xbox one if you' just want something to play DBD on. plus theyre still getting supported for another 2 maybe 3 years so have no fear in investing in it for a while (im on ps4 still)
i dont really want to recommend this but if you dont want a console then you can always get dbd on the apple or google store. i know its mobile but im pretty sure there's a 3rd party controller out there for you to make it a handheld.
other then that im pretty sure you have to drop a minimum of $700-800 for a good/ decent pc & laptop ://
-
ive stopped playing the game, im just going to wait & see how they handle Project W & the game moving forward. if its still a broken mess then yeaaah im out.

A Roadmap is a nice thing to have to let players know in advance what changes they're looking to make over the upcoming year in a glance.
...i dont get why you're angry they made a Roadmap to share with us?
why am i angry?

When I'm not playing DBD, I play a bunch of Paladins and I still need to finish Disco Elysium (which I would 100% recommend).
i remember when i use to play Paladins/ OW :((
the Q times are really awful in pal lmao.. and ive checked some gamplay and im still unsure what it is?? it has good reviews but all ive seen from gameplay is dialogue. is it trying to solve a mystery in a rpg??

I personally don't recommend getting into Persona 3 first. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent game in my opinion and it possibly has the strongest plot and characters of the bunch, but the gameplay is pretty outdated; it can get unbearably grindy and repetitive and I don't see ATLUS (the developing company) updating much for the switch version besides some bug fixes.
The version of Persona 3 they are re-releasing (portable) is missing the epilogue chapter and ATLUS probably isn't adding it. But to be honest you are not missing much, it is a very disliked addition by most of the community, although playing it may be necessary to understand minor plotlines and subtext in some spin-offs.
Persona 4 is better gameplay wise, but I also don't recommend starting with it for similar reasons. It can get tedious at times, but the story is also pretty great and the characters are really relatable.
Persona 5 is usually the recommended game for beginners, and it shows with the amount of tutorials and guides available in game. It is overall a great introduction to the Persona series.
Although, nothing is stopping you from playing them in whatever order you like: All Persona games are pretty non-linear and you can pick whichever you like without worrying about continuity issues - You may miss a reference here and there but nothing beyond that.
If you end up liking the games, I can't recommend getting into the mainline SMT series enough. The subjects and characters are more mature and the gameplay in general is way more challenging, SMT III in particular is infamous for being very beginner unfriendly. Still, no adult protagonists except for Strange Journey.
hey i appreciate the tons of information :))
seems ill be picking up persona 5 and im sure thats also coming to switch right?? i just remember a huge announcement and i think i saw multiple persona games but i could be wrong. ive only played a little of 3 but i sold it years ago :(
seems like each game is self contained so i like that.
DUUDE ive been eyeing SMTV for a while now... i dont mind also if the main character is like 18 or so (judging from trailers of SMT5, she looks 18) i just dont like when its like a pokemon game where its a literal child. but i checked the eshop and the only SMT on there is 5 :(( and im unsure if i have the console for the others
-
why is this even a roadmap??
just update your game.

Konami is lazy and terrible company, IPs they own just languish unless there is gacha/pachinko profits...
Tbh I'm still shocked we got James
god.. take me back to the days when we all USED to love Konami :((
its a shame they steered towards the mobile and slot machine route... i still have hope to this day they can turn it around. atleast hideo kojima is still motivated to make triple AAA games on console tho :)

my friends introduced me to dbd and i remember i would never play online and would only do lobbies with them and we"d all take turns playing killer & having a blast but just like in your post they grew tired of the game (they warned me about devs and parts of the community) in fairness they have been playing long time before they showed me the game.
personally i enjoy the solo experience/ single player so i didnt really have trouble playing without em. bummed 100% but i never let others dictate what games i want to play or play whats popular at the moment. plus i dont feel like talking when im gaming, im very immersive and being in a party and chuckling while playing any atmospheric game ruins it for me.
id recommend to give the solo life a shot i suppose???
-
never getting gens done & when we do manage to complete them we"ll just be hit by noed .-.
soloQ survivor is dead atm
-
you must be new here...
-
i feel your pain when being a good teammate/ good player could be unrewarding and unfair at ALL times but personally i dont let it sway how i play. even the countless amount of times ive been left to die on hook im always the person going for every hook and taking chases for hours with no gens popping is a pain as well.
truth is you can't do much. you have to be "satisfactory" with constantly being screwed by mmr & rng. personally i find co-op/ team play fun which is why im super aultristic and also blinding the killer can be a stellar time. but ever since this patch... yeah i havent really played much (only 3 games)
all in all dont worry and just play to have fun and if the gameplay is that bad for you then i advise searching for a new game!!

I've had to put up with Dead Hard, Circle of Healing, and DS at the exit gate for my entire time playing this game. Survivors would make massive blunders yet still escape by DH'ing into a pallet or window, something most killers could do nothing to stop. Killers like Wraith and Legion felt impossible because CoH killed hit and run tactics. Survivors would deliberately let themselves get downed at the exit gate only to get out with DS. I know I wasn't alone in this sentiment, either. You know what we were told? "Just bait the DH," "Killers just want easy 4Ks," and the ever popular, "Git gud, lol / You're just bad."
Yet I persevered. I learned, practiced, lost over and over again until eventually I had improved considerably.
So yes, there are ultimately two options: adapt, or quit. Quit and you'll never improve. Adapt, and you just might succeed. And if the game is so miserable for you that you'd rather just quit, then I have to ask, why keep playing? I mean no insult, but it doesn't make any sense to play a game that makes you miserable.
you dont have to put up with anything which is whats wrong with your mindset. i never felt i had to put up with anything in my time in dbd and i never said i was miserable playing?? its very easy to just switch over to a new game lol
they dont address camping and tunneling but add more gen time, buff killer & gutted the "meta" for survivor. personally i dont run meta till i feel i absolutely have to (that one day when every match is a constant swet fest) other then that i run Adrenaline, spine chill, i USED TO run WGLF but replaced with flashbang :(( and blast mine.
its just not worth imo. all the hours for a portrait?? ive only put about 800 in three years (still alot)
ive sticked around in hopes so see the game blossom but it hasnt. fact is its still the same game from years on with band aid fixes. licenses sure keep me around but the gameplay right now is very uninteractive and boring and currently its designed as an uphill battle for soloQ which is the only role i play and that is not fun or interesting. the mmr not working doesnt help either.
-
yes 50k people who have PC's who have an endless library & emulation collection to choose from instead choose to boot dbd.
whose taking the real L here??
-
so just put up with broken game balance and mechanics??
ok ill "adapt" brooooo
-
because anime is amazing??
and you could argue alot of the licenses dont fit the dbd lore but here we are not complaining about it like we should.
-
i would prefer Snake over Master Chief
-
real gamers dont care what twitch views got to say

I have been somewhat busy so I haven't had much time to play. On my free time I tend to play Persona 2, but I am advancing at a snail's pace. I suck at dungeon crawlers.
ive always wanted to get into persona but i dont like the young/ teenage main protagonist... i prefer them older like in RE & SH.
however Persona 3 is on my list for switch!!

it's a newer game and not all that obscure but stray is very good.
for games that fit that description a little better:
yume nikki - protagonist is a hikikomori, meaning she doesn't leave her home whatsoever. almost all of the actual game takes place within dreams. not a lot of actual gameplay or directly told story, it's very exploration focused. one of the best rpgmaker games out there. the only real goal is to collect "effects", which are sort of like powers. some are just visual, others might do things in certain areas or are just useful. would highly recommend a guide for this and the next game as both contain a lot of branching pathways to different places and it can get confusing.
.flow - a yume nikki fangame, of which there are hundreds. .flow is considered one of the best and features much darker themes and environments and a somewhat more clear story.
hylics 1 and 2 - surreal claymation rpgs with a very unique artstyle of digitized, heavily dithered clay models. music kicks ass (especially in the second one) and the visuals are stunning. first is done in rpgmaker, features a lot of randomly generated dialogue and is a bit grindy, second one is a lot more polished and is made in unity.
soma - existential horror and funny fishe.
i have stray bc of ps+ but havent got to it yet..
yume nikki and hylics look good! gives me acid visuals hopefully its on switch
yeah i got to get to soma :((

Death stranding. thjis game can take up your time a lot and its the most satifsying game ive ever played. youre constantly planning your future and when it executes well, that's such a great feeling. best thing is everything depends on you, no team holding you back or game forcing you extremely unfair BS or anything like that.
i have it but its in the backlog :((
im a big hideo kojima fan & just buy everything he puts out lol

A Plague Tale Innocence might be the game you're looking for,it takes place in 14th century France and you follow a French noblewoman trying to keep her little brother safe after a horrible tragedy happened at their estate.
The game takes place in a dark and depressing medieval Kingdom filled with misery pest and vermin but it's also southern France so there are some beautiful landscapes to give you hope.
I finished the game like one year ago and while playing this masterpiece I really felt like a big sister trying to protect her loved ones and run away from the group chasing them(don't want to spoil the name you'll see by yourself)
I am currently replaying it on my PS5 the 60 fps upgrade feels so good and clean and btw there is a sequel coming in October so if you ever play the game and want more don't worry you'll get more very soon.
i havent seen this before wth :o
its def added to my amazon cart, thanks! :))

there was a time when i would of laughed at the idea but now... i guess anything can happen in the dbd lore.
to answer the question: no if it had to be anime then i would prefer to have someone like spike or faye. Tokyo ghoul also on top of the list.
-
welcome to adulthood! but i figure most of the community is older anyways since we all grew up alongside this game (6 years is a long time) but nonetheless i hope you have a good birthday! trust me 21 is still so young :))

No amount of skill is gonna win you the game against a blight or nurse running 4 slowdown perks that consistently 3 hooks and kills anyone who makes grunts of pain when they come off the hook, indicating a lack of OTR.
You cannot win the match in the amount of time it takes.
yes you can, you just dont know how to loop & abuse broken tiles and windows instead of going pallet to pallet.
it takes longer sure but its still possible, the only problem is that it gets tedious and fighting an uphill battle every single game in soloQ can be really baaad.
-
off topic but hows modding & emulation on steam deck?? is it about the same as PC?
ive been thinking of getting one .-.
-
so perks = skill??
sorry but if you can loop then there no need for the "meta"
-
the meta is to not play the game
-
blast mine + flashbang
lucky break & bite the bullet (will need medkit or self-care for this build) but when you get hit just break LoS and heal and watch killer just walk right past you lol
my favorite combo was spine chill & res for the 15% vault speed but it got butchered ://
also all boon build??
-
its better than before... no more distance but bait the hit and it does the same if not better.
-
no
-
just had a 15 minute game and when we were on the brink of popping the last gen, our meg hops in the locker... killer hits me & other survivor still on (3 of us left) but killer also knows meg is in locker and pulls her out.
i dont get soloQ maaaaaaaan.
the most brain dead move... instead of giving three of us the chance of escape, you instead chose the other route in which no chance of escape. soloQ is so hard right now and killer was Doc running pop/ regression & the hard skill check thingy so yeah playing this game is just unbearable atm. this is also not mentioning tunneling and camping.
-
adjust to what??
same game but worse :p

I'm at 2K and I question why all the time. It's really too much time to spend on a single game.
I think Otz encountered a Russian player with 12K once, which is borderline incomprehensible.
i dont blame you. DBD is an easy game to sink alot of hours in. im at about 700-800 in my two years almost three but personnally i try not to sink to much time into multiplayer as i favor the single player experience more.
my fear with online multiplayer is if it dies off/ stops being supported is all.
and yeah over 10K in one is mind numbing... especially since theres so many games out there nowadays.

3k hours is insane.

Recently been playing Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2 recently (held off after THPS5 was horrible but heard 1+2 was neat and thankfully it was), if you're in the mood to just skate on mostly good levels with a great song in a great skateboarding system for two minute intervals I can't think of a better game. But also if you're in that mood why are you so oddly specific-
With Persona 3-5 being ported on other consoles. I recommend those as well (it's the perfect fantasy where you get to be cool and have friends!)
Rivals of Aether is a really great platform fighter and with the workshop added it's basically MUGEN for platform fighters.
Honestly making this list made me realize I've haven't been playing many games lately (not as in playtime, I'm just been playing the same games over and over).
i remember my days when i used to play Tonk Hawk underground/ proving ground, maybe its time to rebirth my love for skate games again??
I have Persona 3 on PSP & plan on buying it for Nintendo :')
Rivals of Aether looks like brawlhala which i wasnt much a fan of :((

Multiplayer: PUBG as always
Single player: until dawn, Detroit: becoming human, and patiently awaiting Stray.
Detroit: become human is one of the best gaming experiences ever, everyone should give it a go atleast once. it is the one & only game where you"re decisions matter. (looking at you telltale)
i had to replay since i didnt like one of my endings lol
Until Dawn, ive played that as well ://

I've been playing a fair amount of Risk Of Rain 2 recently, and that's definitely the kind of game you can sink a lot of hours into. I also gave a free game on Steam called "Muck" a try recently and that seems pretty neat.
Neither of those are the kind of third person action games you laid out, to be fair, but unfortunately I don't play those very much lol
this gives me outer worlds + death stranding atmosphere, are they similar or totally different?

I recommend Binding of Isaac repentance. It's pretty fun and you can sink tons of hours in it. It's basically a dungeon crawler type game

Not the type of games you asked for but:
Identity V, basically another ''DBD'' but for mobile.
Eternal return, a ''League of legends'' type of game, you can play it solo or with a team, what makes it a little bit different is that you play for survival (vs 18 other players) rather than defending a base like League.
ive heard of Identity V but its a "mobile" game, so it kind of worries me. is it as bad as diablo immortal? lolol
ive never heard of Eternal return so ill def check it out!
-
parasite eve, silent hill, final fantasy & metal gear solid.
i play DBD when im burnt out of those games or dont feel like having long lengthy game sessions.
-
the only way to get to EGC & have a chance of opening exit gates in soloQ is to play optimally... because if its not just you wasting time but another teammate then everyone else in the match is screwed.
-
it feels like a mobile port :'(
