They balanced Deathgarden, another game of theirs, around the highest level of skilled play and guess what happened? The game died. Lol.
The balance in Deathgarden is extremely debatable.. xD

That's a bit harsh.
It's widely accepted the vast majority of the playerbase isn't in that "high" MMR area, what I call the efficient or "sweats" level. Nor is it balanced with that level foremost in mind.
It is what it is I guess.

Question is on the title.
Let's hear it. Let's see what community thinks about current meta.
3 perks per side. Down from 4. Would automatically balance a lot of things imo.

So the match starts as normal, me teabagging beside a random teammate for 3 seconds. I go searching for my first gen and by the time I get like 5% on the gen, the first person goes down and is hook. He immediately tries unhooking and removes himself from the game. Meanwhile while that's happening, the other 2 teammates both ran TO the killer and got downed on purpose because they clearly wanted out as well.
So at this point, I have a gen at 50% and just stand still and wait for the killer to show up because what's the point. Long story short, this is the lowest scoring game I've ever seen and I wasted a BBQ invitation for it : )

It’s kind of a mad ask to not only make the game, but dedicate all of their free time to it as well. Developers have lives too, y’know.
I could go on about balance forever as it's kind of my thing. They need people of high skill level playing their game and not just out in the wild. They need them on the INSIDE.. BHVR doesn't do that as if they're too proud to ask for advice OR they already know what the answers would be and are preemptively refusing the idea.. They let an extremely whining community balance their game for them instead.. The highest level of play is what all games should be balanced on as it trickles down the ladder more smoothly that way, but you can't even attempt to balance that way if none of your dev team has any clue what high level is and are just going off of whining to keep the player #'s up.
If BHVR want the state of this game to change for the better, eventually they'll have to start asking people who actually know everything about the game. Someone like OTZ is a perfect example. OTZ knows more about DBD than the majority of the devs AND players I'd wager, as he uses anything and everything in the game and has exhausted all types of play, but even just OTZ won't be enough. OTZ has more of a sugar coated mindset, which will work for the overall balance, but only to a certain extent. You need to counter OTZ's not so blunt nature with someone like Tru3Ta1ent. Another streamer who knows most of the, let's say 'numbers' of DBD. If I was BHVR I'd be ringing both of them, asking exactly what we need to do in terms of a sweeping health change for the game. Telling them to combine their minds and figure out what is best for the future.
All of this would be a strategy just to nurture the future. I mean it seems like they're either to proud to ask certain people in the community what they think should be done or they're just 'know it all's'.. If they think they have all the answers then, by all means, just keep going, but as they have shown time and time again, BHVR doesn't have a clue.. To make the game flourish they'll have to of course listen to community feedback and be more transparent, but more importantly, they need to be smart enough to know when to ignore the whining, which in this DBD community unfortunately, is most of the time.. They also shouldn't promise the idea that they'll be more transparent and then NEVER deliver..
They shouldn't be afraid to make their game the way they see fit, but if they're going to let people simply whining alter their decisions every time, then they might as well be asking for ACTUAL good advice from people like OTZ who know the game inside and out.. BHVR are stuck in a loop of, Let's try this... Oh, it didn't work out.. Let's try that... Oh, it didn't work again.. If they keep going in circles like this then I believe the game won't last another decade. I don't see why its so hard to ask select people in the community for help. Seems like an obvious thing to me.. You have a good handful of decent streamers doing DBD content with great ideas of how things work, yet you can't muster the courage or hide the pride to simply say to one of them, "Hey, we'd like to do a voice call with you some time and get your opinion on a few things. What do you think?" It's a shame that in particular is so hard for them, because at this point its beyond obvious that it's the correct route to take.. :/
All they could say to this ramble is, "Well, we have people who we're already paying to do just that..and we think we've done a pretty good job so far.." And then I immediately counter that statement with, "Well...guess WHAT?!.. What you're doing isn't working.."
-
No. She doesn't. The only thing I can say I like about her as a whole is the animation of her placing a drone down and checking her little remote map.. :I
That's all..
-
It was a huge disservice to see Pinhead come to the game with no map and no Kirsty... :/ Also, I'm pretty sure the license holder made them put Doug Bradley's voice in after hearing how jokingly bad the version BHVR put in was... xD Unfortunately, the only company I can be grateful to for getting Pinhead in the game is Park Avenue Entertainment. BHVR searched them out, but they're still the ones that said 'yes' at the end of the day.

I remember hearing that around Clown's release the devs said they were going to slow down on making new realms and focus on making new maps for existing realms. Since that statement, they've done it a total of 3 times I'm pretty sure. Honestly, I wouldn't care how many realms there were if they just stopped with map offerings. They just need to go and I feel like they have no place in dbd anymore with the direction the devs seem to want to take the game.
I agree. If anything they should change the map offerings so that they DON'T send you to the realm offered. Many people would enjoy this change as just about everyone has a map they don't like. Also if all 4 Survivors and the Killer each used a different offering somehow, we would be guaranteed to not be sent to any of the offered maps. This would remove that obvious SWF or Killer planning a specific map to stomp the other side on.. Maps should be completely random, but BHVR could at least let us narrow down the RNG by subtracting maps from the pool with the offerings we give.
-
Hell, I miss what some of the new ones were supposed to look like.. In some of the 'Realm Beyond' map update videos, some visuals that were shown didn't even make it into the game like the one below... The Gideon Meat Plant bathroom looks nowhere near as good as they 'claimed' it would... False advertising..
Nope. Never getting over it..

Isn't this like the old suction vault? Remember how hard it used to be to deal with windows?
It never bothered me personally, but speaking in a general only sense I have to stand by the above.

theres 2 bugs right now with them, 1 is where the survivor gets invulnerability frames mid-vault and the second one is where guys have farther distance than the women do when fast vaulting. why revert the bug fix for vaults instead of just bug fixing those 2 issues while leaving fast vaults as how they should be?
it seems very dumb to revert it completely as for 7 years it hasn't been working properly, now your changing it back to not be visually accurate instead of just fixing the 2 bugs it has right now?
This is how BHVR do things. 1 step forward, 10 steps back.

I dunno, I feel like that's TOO finnicky. Requires Clown to switch bottles and reduce a tiny bit of pressure. Although the same issue could still stand, with the survivor being slowed down with Clown right behind them for an easier hit with the yellow bottle.
Yeah but lowering it to 2 bottles would be a bit harsh.. :X I kept it at 4 just to be safe..but maybe 2 would suffice. That way Clown either gets both bottle hits to expose them or has to reload each time he fails.
-
Well apparently there isn't a single employee at BHVR that can play their own game at the highest level on both sides, so how could we possibly expect them to balance either of those experiences in the best ways possible.. News flash.. We can't..
In conclusion and to summarize my thoughts on this entire teams efforts to try and make the game better for everyone.............. .......... .................................. ..................................................................... .............................................."Meh..".
-
Rework Idea: Pinky finger - Bottles stay at 4 - You have to hit the Survivor directly with a Pink Bottle AND a Yellow Bottle in the same chase. Then having been hit by both colors the Survivor becomes exposed. That makes it less like a 1 and done surprise. This will at least give the Survivors a chance to figure out what's going on when they get hit directly with the 1st colored bottle as it will popup with a warning even though they are not exposed yet.

There was one PTB where the animations were actually fixed, as in we finally had proper animation frames that showed which direction a survivor was turning to. Unfortunately, these changes were reverted, and we currently have purposely badly animated survivors, so that survivors can have extra chances to dodge killers. The current survivor animations look like hot garbage on the killer's screen, especially when survivors are spinning in a circle, but as long as survivors are happy it's ok, right?
Bingo. In the 4:1 ratio..at least keep the 4 happy. Can't really argue with that business model either.
-
Old animations made you look like a victim, which is correct. The newer animations give Survivors this entitled posture like they know they are 'better' and more favored by some all powerful force that even created the Entity itself. Oh wait..

Sounds a lot like now tbh..lmao. All joking aside. My idea still stands as better imo. Make us wait as long as it takes to balance out the numbers. Irdc either way.

Nothing would go wrong for the most skilled players to use the option to matched against average skill...
Well if the devs can't think of a way to make it work than it is what it is. I mean it'd still be better than what its like now.. xD

This is a serious question for killers. Do you guys really have fun face camping, tunneling, bleeding, slugging etc? I truly want to know because it has been happening more than before. Is it because the event? Challenges? I’m not talking about when there’s 1-2 gens left because I totally get that. I’m asking the killers who will use these “strategies” at 4-5 gens. I’m also not talking about when survivors are being toxic because I am not a fan of when my teammates do that for no reason. I’m just curious and want to know why I’ve been seeing more and more killers do that. Please no arguing or negative comments 😁. This is a serious question.
I bet most Killers that enjoy doing this in game have never even had the idea of 'visiting the DBD forums' cross their miind. :P
-
I happen to be that type of person where I'd much rather wait 4-5min if it means I get a more balanced match. Win or lose..these matches that start within 30s to 1m are always so one sided...
-
@Reinami said:
Just got out of a match, where someone tried to hook suicide immediately, i unhooked them before they could, they got pissed and proceeded to sabotage the entire game, went around and dropped a bunch of pallets, would block people from picking up slugged survivors, and would in general lead the killer around to us on purpose.
If you want out of the match, play it out, or take the DC penalty, don't punish the rest of us.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
They should make better tutorials for new people that expressly WARNS them that doing this is not recommended. New players do it the most and you know what..you can't really blame them. The option is there so why not?
-
Better idea. Let us have an option to toggle Faster matchmaking that puts us with any skill level or Slower matchmaking that finds a much more balanced match with people of similar skill.

Wesker has the high ground.

Well they took that away on purpose for realism, but that blue tint to the bathroom on The Game map is 100% accurate to the movie. It probably had something to do with performance on console.. Who knows..

Isn’t that a mock up? I remember the updated Gideon images were mock-ups by the art team. I don’t think that was intended to be the final product even though it looks better.
It's what was shown in-game on the actual "Realm Beyond" series. They show the Saw map in Realm Beyond Part 4.. The music gets all intense right when this scene comes up also.. Like they knew it looked good... I'd love to know why it doesn't look like that in the actual game..
-
All of these types of things could be simply made into options that anyone can switch 'on' and 'off' if they desired. Give it a decade or so and who knows if DBD is still going maybe more Survivors will have some voice lines.

Makes me sad.. :/

Something similar to what DBD Mobile already does would be appreciable.
The fact that DBD mobile has some of these things and CORE DBD doesn't just boggles my mind.. O.o

I'd make it base just so we can get rid of all these "General Perks" that just add to the clutter/confusion of how many perks are actually in the game.. Hell I'd make NOED, Shattered Hope, Iron Grasp, and Unrelenting all base kit if I was in charge.

@Melinko said:
I still don't understand why the devs haven't done something about lingering in the exit gate area. It could be as simple as if they stay in the area beyond the gate for 5 secs a blood warden activates.
I understand standing outside the gate waiting for teammates to make sure they make it, but when all the remaining alive survivors linger there, a blood warden would be amazing.
Would be great if Survivors messed around too long in the exit gate area, the Entity's pull would get stronger and stronger. Survivors would get slowly pulled back into the trial. The inside of the exit gates become a vacuum and if you stay too long, say towards the last 1/4 of the timer, you physically can't escape as the pull is too great. Anything to make it where the Survivors don't feel so safe at the end..
-
Killers are obviously favored at lower levels of play, but the higher MMR Survivors are quite the opposite a lot of the time. I don't think there's much wrong with that, but I hope they eventually find a nice medium to help casual Survivors not get stomped as much, while also helping higher MMR Killers with the same issue. Blight/Nurse/Wesker seem to be majorly dominant when it comes to dealing with SWF or much more coordinated Survivor groups. It would be nice if they found a way to bring the other Killers up to that level without outright changing too much about them if it's even possible.
-
Been wanting this type of stuff for a long time. ANYTHING that gives the Survivors other things to do is a plus in my book. Please BHVR go back and give the other maps something similar that fits in thematically of course.

they could force the playstyles out (like they're doing with camping), but there would likely have to be some sort of compensation for removing something like that.
You're absolutely right, but for the greater good, I say...DO IT!! :D

@Kaitsja said:
While another person's fun isn't your responsibility, deliberately going out of your way to make the game as unfun as possible for people only serves to drive people away from the game.

I didn't say this was about me.
I'm still having an acceptable time on the game, as I play very competitively, but all of my more casually-minded friends have quit.
All my casual friends don't play either.. People don't seem to realize this game looks a lot different when you are "outside" looking "in". You could say that about many games sure, but I feel DBD is a special case in that point of view. DBD is an "easier said than done" type of game for the more casual people I have known to play it, which is quite a few tbh.
-
@Sharby said:
I know the point is for visual clarity but tbh obscuring what is and isn't a vault would be way cooler and reward map exploration.
If the tap is going to stay I wish they'd at least theme it after the map.
They could make it an option that is auto turned "On" for new folks. And those of us that want it off can do just that. :D

Yeah I really miss them too....Being able to make the map pitch black or as bright as the sun!
Yeah I mean the game is called Dead by DayLIGHT.. I always imagined each match starting with how the Moonlight offering looks then slowly progressing toward the middle of the match to how they currently look then by the end of the trial it'd be morning basically hence the whole Dead By Daylight actually having significance in the matches..lol. I mean it still means the same thing, but we'd see the environment shift from late at night to the early morning by the time everyone is dead or all escaped safely and what not.
We'd also see the good old farm cowshed maps during the night time again, which I think is sorely missed.
-
It would also be nice to see them take lockers in a whole new direction for Survivor to give us some actual horror feels when we're playing. Why can't lockers be in 1st person and Survivors can see out of the holes? That would add so much immersion for people. It really doesn't make sense for lockers to be 3rd person anyway, because as you get in the locker, your eyeballs are not outside of the locker last I checked....lol..
They even had this concept in their Launch Trailer funny enough and never implemented it.. There is a HUGE opportunity for players being scared just with this idea alone. Would certainly add a whole new twist to the heartbeat as you're hiding in the locker hoping they don't find you.. I'd love to see them add this.
You would open the locker in 3rd person as usual.
Then once inside this is what you see while hearing the heartbeat! @.@
And when they find you...........GUESS WHAT??!!!!
Many people would need to clean their pants after something like that. It would really add a whole other level to lockers.. Survivors have mentioned wanting a 1st person mode for quite some time, so maybe we can just give Survivors this new locker 1st person view and watch people feel a new level of fear in the game! If you wanted to make it even scarier..you could make it to where Survivors don't hear the heartbeat at all in lockers, but anyways I'm curious to see if people would be accepting of this idea.
-
I only miss the Moonlight offerings.. Made everything feel much scarier imo.
-
Would've been pretty easy to add them actually.. Just add a queen chamber to the tunnel system. The Alien could've brought 1 egg at a time up with him to place at a surprise location. Not really sure how they managed to get away without putting the eggs in tbh..
-
Get rid of the endurance.
-
What if they did an egg on each Generator then when someone fails a skill check the egg opens up and latches onto the nearest persons face incapacitating them and laying a baby alien in their chest. That'd make those casuals learn how to do skill checks.. In all seriousness though, it might be pretty scary. Someone else could fail a skill check on the Generator you were on as well and the egg sends the facehugger at you instead just because you were closer or whatever. Yikes! I'd be running my ass off..lol..
-
I'd really like it if they give Alien the ability to walk on vertical surfaces in some way or maybe even perch on specific vertical spots. If they make it to where Alien can walk on walls, I'd imagine he will move much slower while doing so to balance it out.
-
Just give him the Dream Pallets at base and I think he'd be in a much better spot.

Yeah. There is a flamethrower in damn near every Alien movie and even in AVP if I remember correctly.
