My feelings are influencers and the playerbase are more to blame than BHVR for its identity issue. BHVR do hold some responsibility for moving it into a competitive area. Unfortunately, at a championship level it's inheritantly boring and clinical. The fun is sucked right out.
However, a majority of influencers focus on meta builds and how to win and show up salty players (which ironically can make people want to be salty to get their 15 minutes of fame). Players then start using them with some perception they need this to win which - unless you play at the top - you do not.
The player-base also follows this, trying to do the tricks of those streamers and such. They try the same builds to win and, if they don't, surely it's a balance issue because the build should have worked! Some players want to play chill, but defining what is "chill" isn't clear. The playerbase gets caught up in it all. However, that's not totally the influencers' fault because people should think more for themselves. People aren't sheep.
"People aren't sheep." You could've fooled me. That's all I see in gaming nowadays.. xD

Yes, perfect example for what we who play the default game and accept that it has stealth elements consider cheating.
I'm personally baffled by the fact that this is allowed. Even if the game can't detect such filters currently, I have no clue why streamers of all people who constantly provide video-evidence of using 3rd party tools to gain an unfair advantage aren't getting banned.
You got me there. There are quite a bit of questionable things possible with DBD aren't there??? But as long as they're allowed, I'm all for them.
-
False. Cross-progression is delayed until further notice. Just an FYI..
-
Obviously some of the license holders are told up front: "Look, we have a very limited game engine and our code breaks every time we update.. If that works for you then lets get started." to which the license holders respond with: "Meh whatever, its a video game... More money right?"

Basically I Feel they were trying to Expand Bloodpact into its own little Category
All three Perk,
BloodPact
Teamwork: Power of Two
Teamwork: Collective Stealth
all require the conditions of Healing & Staying Close.
Unlike Bloodpact, both Collective Stealth and Power of Two Have HEAVY cooldowns
While Bloodpact also has a Higher Haste Effect , No Cooldown AND You dont have to be as Close compared to Power of Two
And the Effects for the conditions you have to pull of, the distance you have to stay close 2, and the cooldown I cant see myself using "Teamwork: Collective Stealth" for no scratch marks...
These perks are also completely useless for solo-queue, while still being almost worthless for even swfs
I Just dont know what they were trying to do.
They should of went in like Boons, made them strong then toned them down with feedback if needed
Majority of the perks that are not used by anyone in DBD are obviously all failed concepts.. Premonition, Slippery Meat, Unrelenting, Hangman's Trick, Predator, Bloodhound, Territorial Imperative, Insidious, Beast of Prey..... I could keep going here... There are so many filler perks.. If DBD was an anime it'd be DBZ. 20 or so episodes of filler with a handful or so that you don't want to miss. And don't get me started on Shadowborn... Just like Predator and Bloodhound... Why would you make ACCESSIBILITY options into perks... So bad..
-
They'll all be remastered by 2030. Trust me. Actually by then they'll have to update the graphics again because Playstation 8 will be out and Xbox Series SXSXS One will be a thing. I mean the way the game currently looks now is much uglier in comparison to these newer asymmetrical games that are coming out.

The reason it is fun right now is because people are still learning the game. Give it a few weeks and the initial novelty factor will subside. Metas will form, people will learn the most efficient paths and the fun will quickly drain away.
This. Give it awhile. If it's still just as fun for all levels of play in a few months then I'll give credit where credit is due. Nobody can argue the game looks a million times better than DBD, that's for sure. I love being able to see the Killer outfits since they're in 3rd person. Not to mention the many different ways that Survivors can escape and all the different objects they can interact with and use to achieve victory. The same can be said for the Killer side. It's much more fun killing with friends than it is alone in DBD... I hope this game takes off and keeps going strong. TCM is what Survival horror should be at minimum. DBD is so far behind in terms of game play mechanics it's not even funny.. All DBD has is the licenses..Take those away and DBD honestly has nothing on TCM.. :/

It's very easy, they send a request to nVidia to get them off the list and reShade is detectable, other games crash to desktop when they detect reShade. So it's not a matter of "can they", it's a matter of time until they find out how these settings are being abused. Hopefully, they will also add in-game filters before they ban the current ones.
Well, I'll hold hope for that 'never gonna happen' idea in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up faster.. xD They'll never do it bud.

The "NotJake" sounds terrifying... :X

There may be quite a few people who actually enjoy the play style, but as far as her lore and visual design, I'd have to say they're as rare as a diaper in a landfill. And at the end of the day that diaper is more than likely full of poo.
-
Plenty of people do. He is one of the best designed Killers in the game imo.

All hate for MfT would drop immediately😁
Well I think MFT is the logic behind them realizing that most Survivors are NOT very efficient in chase, so the easiest way to help them was to make Survivors faster while injured. I mean it won't make people who are bad that much better if at all, but it will give them some more hand holding. People that are decent at Survivor however, that's another story..
-
I feel most people like the hiding aspect more than the actual 'doing Generators' part of the game funny enough. Most new people I've had try DBD are use to much more, as you put it, action-oriented games and find the Generators really dull and boring. That being said, I still think more people get a thrill from the hiding part of DBD rather than the, let me do a Generator and maybe hide for a moment when the Killer comes. I see so many Survivors just STRICTLY hiding in solo Q its ridiculous..
Doing Generators has so many people like..
-
Iri hatchet shouldn't exist..
It's fun to camp with doh. :X -
I'd love to see the developers TRY to stop me from using filters. They can't do it. It's an impossible task. I'll bet they wish they could though.
-
Honestly surprised they haven't implemented more emotes. Being able to emote makes the game feel somewhat alive seeing as the Survivors can't speak from Oni having ripped most of their tongues out at least once during a Mori. Maybe their tongues don't regenerate when they're sent back to the campfire. Everyone from RE, Nic Cage, and Ash have all mastered the tongue regeneration process however.
-
Most people can't tell so they get away with it.. :/

Modern NOED is too weak to waste time on totems. It literally shows it's aura now... Why bother with totems mid match?
I think that's a big reason it wouldn't be that impactful for it to be made base. I think it would make a decent difference though.
@JustAnotherNewbie said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3517963#Comment_3517963
Then we'd have complaints over small game and how NOED never comes into play and that it's not enough to stop "gen rushing".
People are going to complain regardless. I'd rather have NOED base as it would add another default element to the game and not just if they're running the perk. Complainers will always be just that.
-
I'm very surprised to see NOED mentioned. Not too many people seem to want it to be base kit.. This would make it to where the majority of Survivors would most certainly do Totems, which in turn, would help a lot with Gen rushing. If Survivors knew NOED was coming at the end of every trial, you'd start to see those Totems clear up pretty damn quick as well as Generators slowing down even if its only slightly. I also think it only makes sense for the Killer to become stronger toward the end of the trial.

Dear Behaviour,
Throughout the 7 years DBD and our community has been through how come you guys don't play your own game to see what we go through or see what's buggy or balancing for both roles, if you do play your own game then would you try your best to balance the game for both roles? Or even add new game modes like casual and ranked modes, etc? Me and other people in the community have tons of ideas to make the game fun instead of competition, I hope you guys read this 😁🥺
Of course they play their game. The real question is, are they good at their game...?
-
Survivors: Kindred and Small Game
Killers: N.O.E.D. and Unrelenting
-
Very complicated Killer. Also Wesker's lower skill ceiling exists.

Promised FOV accessibility option for those that get motion sickness who would like to play Killer... :C

Why do people complain about Coldwind being set during the day but not Ormond?
Ormond gives off horror vibes regardless I'd say.. It just feels eerie.. The farm during the day just throws me off though. Maybe they were going for the during the day Texas Chainsawish look, but for DBD I personally wish they kept the dark. Going through the corn field at night has a way different feel to it. A much more thrilling feeling because I can't see 10 miles in front my character due to it being...well..dark.. Less visibility is better. Even Ormond has that slight snow effect where things get blurry the further you try to look.
1 huge reason I hate that map during the day is I for the life of me, have so much trouble seeing scratch marks as Killer it isn't even funny. That map and Eerie of Crows beg for filters... :/
-
I wish. Seeing a map in the middle of the day sure doesn't make me feel like I'm playing DBD... Having the farm map take place during the day instead of night like the original was an extremely questionable change.. Let's be honest though, what change does BHVR make to this game that isn't questionable besides accessibility features.. None that I can think of.. An even bigger reason why they should've kept it night time for coldwind farm is when the Texas Chainsaw game comes out, it'll be an actually scary amazing looking daytime map that has a reason to be...well daytime as it's based on the movie..

Unpopular opinion: Casual/Average Survivors do not 'enjoy' doing the main objective of the game. (Generators are boring to those that never do them)

I am sending Nemmy a package. Start praying.
Honestly though ... this item would be a single use rocket launcher. You could dodge it ... blast radius of 6m would down anyone if it hits a wall. Only one crate on the map.
Also the flamethrower. Small fuel tank so it would be close range but slower walking speed.
All of these would work.
I approve of this idea. Anyone saying this couldn't work period has a very limited imagination tbh.
-
To clarify what Peanits said, they don't want to make the majority of players feel they need to wait longer for a more fair match as many of those same players will get bored of waiting and just go play another game like Civ V, so until further notice, we're stuck with the faster Q times and worse match-ups. :/
-
That's fair. DBD is an online game as a service like Fortnite or League of Legends, just much less popular than either of those. Its okay to feel the constant off putting, money grabbing tendencies of games with unending DLC. This type of model has really kept DBD going somewhat strong thus far though. I wish it appealed to more people. Major changes would need to be made to the formula to not only broaden the audience of players, but actually KEEP those players playing the game instead of losing them a few weeks after said DLC releases..
-
My question is, where is the FOV accessibility feature that was supposedly in the works for players susceptible to motion sickness because of how zoomed in the current FOV is on Killer?... :X
-
I think it'd go over a lot better in DBD since many players already know most of the teachable Survivor perks. Let's say we have a Dwight on our team. He's the only character that can have the Leader perk/ability. This would help new players learn that when Dwight is with us we'll always get the Leader buff. I think they're missing a huge opportunity with this. By having them all just be skins, none of them really stand out. Players just kind of go toward a Survivor they connect with visually or perk wise, which I don't think should be the case.
Its just a free for all. Anyone can have anything..which makes it so confusing tbh..especially as Killer..

it's a very realistic assumption.
as I've seen it happen repeatedly in other games. like lol for instance. you pick something outside of the expected? you are now throwing the match, being a dick and getting reported.
Let's assume BHVR are smart enough to not let that heppen and make all Survivor abilities equally interesting abilities that everyone likes. :) I honestly think they should do what the board game did. Give each Survivor one of their own perks as a 'signature perk' that only that Survivor has. This would actually balance many things out tbh. Then you couldn't have 4 people running the same perk as often.
-
@Alice_pbg said:
no! no no no no no!
leave the survivors as close to equal as possible. don't wanna just see the same 2 or 3 survivors every match because "they are the best ones".
and don't want anyone to get hate for playing the one they like but "their ability is bad".
Why does everyone always assume stuff like this? Very pessimistic assumption. I've always been all for Survivors being different. The fact they're all just skins still boggles my mind as its an extremely lame part of the experience that could pull in more people if it was expanded upon.
-
I agree with the ideas of this game, but I disagree with the actual ideas behind it.

Agreed. Have gates automatically regress if not fully opened. The whole points of the closed gate is the time pressure of having to open it. Opening it when there's no risk essentially eliminates that entirely. Commit to fully opening it, or not touching the gate should be the options (I suppose you could "babysit a gate and keeping it topped off", but considering you have to dedicate someone actually being there, I don't see an issue with it).
I'd be fine with that. It means you'd need 1 person dedicated just to keep it 99'd.There have been so many times I'm about to make a great escape or see a teammate about to do the same, and suddenly realize the exit gate is 99'd.... All those moments and the gate never opened.. :/
-
Shouldn't even be possible to 99 the gates anyway. Devs should've taken this out a long time ago. Gates should slowly and automatically regress if the switch isn't held. 99ing the gates isn't a good idea most of the time. Just open the gate.. -_0 This is the type of stuff that devs leave in which give Survivors an inch of freedom and they take a mile instead just because they can. If this game had more structure stuff like that wouldn't be possible.

My experience has been the opposite actually. I've seen more Leons than Rebecca's who are decent/good in a chase (mind you I can only recall 2-3) but maybe it's also because I see a lot more Leons than Rebecca's in general. Some Rebecca's can be incredibly altruistic though.
Never seen a single good Leon. No lie. Leon is the first Survivor I hear scream if he's in the group. First scream, first hook, first d/c, first missed skill check.. You name it, the Leon's near me do it.. xD
-
Nope. I enjoy stomping dem Killers with it. Leave it alone.
sarcasm -
Leon players seem to be much worse. I've had some bad ass Rebecca players on my team and on the Survivor team against me many times. Leons though?... They do nothing special that I'm aware of. I feel most people that pick Leon just see the character from that RE game they like and pick him up. That's it. Nothing wrong with that, but it shows in game. Leon's seem to be brand new most of the time.

Bots are great to replace, often advantageously, a rage-quitting survivor.
But now that it's there, the selfishness of hook-suicides is even more evident.
Something needs to be done about it.
It wouldn't fix anything.
For example: People normal d/cing in DBD - Devs fixed it with bots for the most part.
Lets say the devs hypothetically make it to where giving up on hook is impossible - People will just press the 'Home' button on console and end the application OR Ctrl-Alt-Del on PC to d/c anyway. People are NOT going to do what they don't want to regardless of what the devs change.

It's not like demogorgon is very strong killer and he is not either in store anymore so why are devs priorisiting nerfing him over some other killers who are much stronger and more problematic blight add ons, skull merchant 3 genning comes to mind. If anything demogorgon should be buffed not nerfed.
Do they ever make good decisions? Are we all still surprised by these things..?

I'd love to see Sam and Dean get in this game. Supernatural was on 1 of the Satisfaction Surveys that BHVR did, but shockingly it's been removed as an option on the most recent survey for whatever reason.. :/
