My head cannon is that the tunnel entrances are portals that mimic the xeno hive tunnels created by the entity and when xeno decides to pop out the entity teleports them to the unrealistic entrance that way you can have tunnels on the 2nd floor of houses

I'll be honest..you have swayed me. As long as I go to sleep every night thinking that I should be all good.

Out of all the things in the game, this is what breaks the immersion for you?? LMAO

Most certainly. You wouldn't hand in half of an essay to your English teacher would you? Something like that to me just looks unfinished or rushed. Simple.

How would that be fair for maps like Midwich and Gideon? Just lock half the, map off from Xeno's power? Make the upper level completely safe?

Just because BHVR didn't come up with something else to make it fit better doesn't mean there is no other way.. xD

  • The real hilarious thing is some of those 'interconnected tunnels' are not actually connected at all. Some of the two story buildings in Haddonfield and other places have a tunnel on the 2nd floor where CLEARLY there could never realistically be a tunnel... Like...what? It just looks stupid. BHVR art design and visuals have always been decent at improving immersion, but the game play side of things just destroys immersion completely on so many levels its laughable..

The Alien doesn't tunnel to these 2nd floor spots... He teleports... Don't remember them being able to do that in the movies.. Why not make all the tunnels only at ground level similar to hatch? Who knows..

Great, you can get hit again even after fully vaulting a window.

Instead of fixing the bug that males had, now survivors get no distance from the windows and you get hit even tho you already finished the vault.

Back to dodgy hits every session.

Do people still not realize this is ALWAYS how BHVR fixes stuff. You don't fix it you just sweep it under the rug, and if some of it accidentally gets found near the rug, proceed to sweep it right back under. "Band Aid Fix's" (that actually fix nothing) are the name of the game.

  • PTB chase music was terrible and many other people complained about it.. It sounded like a washing machine.. I get that 1 out of every 100 people may have for some reason liked it, but you are the 1 out of the first 100 people I've heard say it was good. :P

A survivor could just bring Saboteur and set the turrets near any Scourge Hooks and potentially cancel out a killer perk. Or even just near any hooks closest to the gens being worked on.

That would sure be a nice additional mechanic of strategy to add to the Survivor side of the game. Does seem silly he walks right through it. Can only have 4 turrets out at one time. I don't see the issue.

  • Pretty sure the Queen is the same general size as the Xenomorph in game, but she sure does "look" a whole hell of a lot bigger in the menu. (rightfully so)

  • @IHSGames said:

They'res only 2 survivors left and one of them are slugged for the 4k.

Its honestly not fun being slugged for the 4k because really, it's just the Killer being greedy. Theres no reason to do so other than BP and bragging rights, youve already won if you hook the survivor and get a 3k. Basically sitting a survivor out of 4 minutes so you can gain the satisfaction of a 4th kill.

And even as the survivor getting chased, unless your Ayrun or something, youre not lasting 4 minutes and any additional time finding hatch. So youre just #########.

So I think when 1 of the survivors is down when 2 are remaining, they should gain unlimited unbreakable basekit. This will make it to where the killer is forced to hook the survivor if they really want to secure the kill or theyll just keep getting up instead of denying a whole game mechanic, aka hatch, so you can get an extra nearly meaningless kill.

Been saying this for awhile... Would solve a LOTTTTTTT of issues...

Generator rushing, overpowered premades, map imbalance, tunnelling and camping. These are the core problems that make it so games turn unfun and are not won by skill but exploit. It should be your priority to fix these over anything else so this game finally becomes balanced and fair. Surely, after 7 years you must have a timeline?

They are never going to make the game less stale than it is. Sorry.

  • The Killers that already existed before DBD and that will still exist after it. Basically all the licenses. Not a fan of any particular OG Chapter tbh.

  • Honestly don't care too much about her 'core design'..but her visual design...........🤮🤮🤮🤮

  • Just let us stun/destroy the guards with pallets. That would help out a lot in many of those 2 on 1 chase situations.

I think that goes for most of the big horror franchies

Friday the 13th has only 2 good movies, same with Nightmare on elm street and Halloween

tho Evil Bong is still standing strong with 9 Great entries in the series, and a new one on the way

No doubt. I do like more of the Friday the 13ths than I'd like to admit though..lol.

security breach was the worst one in the series worse than fnaf world

Which still means nothing in the grand scheme of things to be fair. I mean majority of the Halloween movies suck, yet we have Myers.. xD

  • It won't be FNAF as I'm assuming FNAF will come with map when it eventually gets it. I highly doubt they'd release another map so close to the new Alien map they just made. Candyman and Predator are possible however.

    @Crowman said:

They said big L licenses so I doubt it's FNAF on that fact alone.

But honestly even if it was, I simply do not see it as a big deal.

And jsyk in the grand scheme of all IPs, FNAF is most certainly a "big L" in terms of fan request. I still don't think it'll be FNAF though. When they said "big L", I'm almost certain they meant franchises that are more old school and have been wanted for a long time. The "big L" licenses are most assuredly from movies and not video games. FNAF would for sure fit the bill on the "big L" though.

  • I mean NOED is one of the best perks in the game and they refuse to make it a base kit mechanic, so anyone running NOED is playing smart imo. I'm that Survivor that does Totems normally so NOED is never a problem for my Solo team.

  • @Grigerbest said:

As much as some FNAF fans wishing there was a "Fnaf chapter"... This type of chapter will be a complete cringe to me.

Like no offence, but this will be an extremely cringy chapter, sorry for Fnaf fans, but I wish they will not release one.

Even if it's going to be a good chapter with good perks and etc... Just don't do that.=)

To each their own. Trickster is still the king of cringe in my book.

  • Generators would NOT be the only thing Survivors had to do to escape. There would be multiple things Survivors could work towards to get the gates to open.

  • Yep all I ever see is Blight, Wesker, Nurse, a decent amount of Ghost Faces strangely enough, and a few Wraiths sprinkled in. Other than that, you'd think those were the only Killers in the game if you watched me play..

  • Nah. I'll just enjoy the free map and Turret mechanic.

They've said they spend 12 months developing a single chapter. If we only had 3 releases this year it could have been Knight, SM, and Singularity, and people would have been disappointed. It could have been Knight, SM, and Alien, and people would have been disappointed in 2/3. And Singularity would have shown up next year. You're assuming if they released one less chapter a year that somehow the ideas and concepts they've come up with already wouldn't have graced our games. Chances are they still would have.

No I'm not saying what I hear most people say, which is if they do less Chapters per year then the few Chapters they do will be better.. My stance is I honestly think the team that works on these is simply hit or miss. Period. They do a few good ones here and there, but the rest...nope. They simply can't keep the good streaks going. They're amazing at bad Chapter streaks however. It actually impresses me. This past year isn't the first time they've had a bunch of bombs in a row either btw.

I remember back when people said Blight was bad in the PTB and that lasted awhile, then we got one of, if not THE buggiest Chapter of all time with The Twins, and right after that a very controversial/confusing addition in The Trickster. Trickster was also extremely underwhelming because it wasn't a myth that he sucked. He really did suck and was one of the worst Killers they've put out in a PTB to date. That was not a fun time. Felt like a 'good content' drought..similar to the recent Knight, SM, then Singularity... Interesting isn't it.. It almost feels like if they kept doing these OG Chapters ONLY with no licenses, the DBD servers would see fewer and fewer people coming back each time.. What a mystery?

I've been saying this for years btw. I don't think the DBD team is creative enough to keep people playing the game, having fun, and staying interested in the content with their OG Chapters. My honest belief is that the licenses they nab are what pull most people in and keep them whether they want to admit it or not, because there are plenty of OG Chapters they've pumped out, especially recently, that just suck ass...

  • People comparing things in any medium is human nature. People getting over the fact that people compare things is also human nature. Both groups are on a proper path of human nature. No harm no foul.

  • Trapper - Start with all traps. Wouldn't even be a major buff for most levels of play.

Freddy - Dream Pallet is base kit. This should've been there from the beginning.

Nemesis - Fix the damn zombies...

Oni - Give him the Renjiro Bloody Glove at base.

Blight - Make Placebo Tablet and Adrenaline Vial both base kit to slow his ass down.

Nurse - Make Dull Bracelet and White Nit Comb base kit to at least try to keep her more in line with the basic mechanics of the game..

  • @Nazzzak said:

They're never gonna please everyone, and if they only had 3 new Chapters a year there will still be people complaining they aren't good enough. I think most of what they come out with is fine. There are limitations in the game to what they can do with killers power-wise, so there will always be an overlap with other killers. And I'm pretty sure things like bug fixes and perk changes are controlled by different people to the ones working on new chapters.

Hell...they do 4 chapters a year now and this year specifically, 3 out of the 4 weren't good anyway, so obviously something needs to change. They must be having crunch time in there judging by the 'quality' of the Knight, Skull Lady, and Singularity chapters... We can't really say they feel rushed as we don't know what the characters should feel like or play like due to them being original. Skull Merchant though, I think most people agree on her, that chapter felt like a 'quantity' over quality. When the majority of your audience is saying they'd rather have NOTHING than what you just came out with, something is definitely wrong.

  • That's easy to answer. (clears throat)............... Money. They want money and they want it now. Health chapters don't bring money. Licenses do. Licenses = money. Give them money. They need money. Spare some money. Lend them some money. What you doing honey? Give them your money.

  • DBD Pros: Got almost nothing.

    • I like the amount of licenses in the game.
    • The possibility that the game evolves and becomes a much better more stable version of itself.

DBD Cons: I have plenty for this list and am probably forgetting some.

    • Game has never been optimized on PC and even then, it's 10x worse on consoles..
    • Takes years for them to add the most obvious QoL features.
    • Survivors have 0 unique quality besides just being a skin.
    • The main thing Survivors can do to the Killer is drop pallets on them... Gets old quick.
    • Game health is not prioritized enough.
    • This community rivals even LoL in terms of how rude/toxic some of them can be.
    • The map designs make the game completely imbalanced for one side or the other.
    • Killer 1st person FoV can give some people motion sickness due to how zoomed in it is.
    • Way too many 'unused perks' in the game. Having a lot isn't bad, just buff the bad ones more.
    • Some Iridescent addons are extremely unfair. (Iri Head/Pinky Finger for examples)
    • Certain Killers are so bad they can't be played without specific addons.
    • The strongest Killers in the game rarely get nerfed * cough * blight * cough * wesker..
    • Spaghetti coding/game engine is so dated. Causes the game more problems than it fixes.
    • Game breaking bugs/crashes are introduced almost every single patch even 8 years later..
    • Killer perks get nerfed almost immediately if Survivors whine, but vice-versa it takes years...
    • Many of the licenses are not done proper justice imo. Nemesis, Freddy, and Alien come to mind.
    • MMR is not good enough and if it's current state is the best they can do then all hope is lost.
    • The mobile version of DBD has better ideas/content in it than the ACTUAL CORE game of DBD.
    • Some Killers can just ignore entire mechanics of the game..like Nurse, Sadako, and Michael..
    • Sad truth is DBD will never evolve so long as solid competition doesn't force it to do so.
    • There are so many rage quitters in this game it blows my mind.
    • When people do rage quit or die on hook early in the game, it's almost certainly the Killer wins..
    • Many Killer finishers are..tbh..very bad, underwhelming, not gory enough, and outdated as hell..
    • The grind for new players isn't just bad, it's abysmal. I do not envy anyone new coming to DBD.
    • Map Offerings are a problem. Remove them or change them to NOT send you to that realm.
    • Camping/tunneling has plagued this game for so long and still nothing has been done to fix it..

TCM Pros: Quite a few honestly.

    • KILL WITH YOUR FRIENDS... O.O... It's about time a bigger horror game implemented this idea.
    • Much more devotion to the source material than DBD has ever achieved with any license.
    • The Victims actually feel very unique from one another. There are reasons to pick certain ones.
    • Being chased feels much more exciting due to so many different environmental interactions.
    • Just playing as a Victim (Survivor) is scarier as there are 3 Killers after you. Not just 1.
    • The amount Survivors can interact with maps is unreal. (being able to turn lights off to hide)
    • There are lots of ways to escape a match as Victim also. Passages, gates, long roads, etc.
    • The graphics. Just..wow.. Can't believe how good it looks. Lighting/shading look so realistic..
    • Maps have day AND night versions.. Something I wish DBD had even if it was just a few..
    • Gore.. It doesn't show you Victims getting full on dismembered but the level of brutality is great.
    • I love that if everyone is new the Killers are not as overwhelming as they'll often be in DBD.
    • You feel absolutely 0 stress as Killer as you're with 2 other people. Both sides require teamwork.
    • There is no such thing as being camped or tunneled so it wins that contest in my book.

TCM Cons: Quite a few as well, but it just came out so it's to be expected.

    • Tons of technical issues as many brand new games have. Hell DBD is old and still has them..xD
    • Needing to have 7 people just to start the match with no BOTS in the game is a bad decision.
    • The obvious flaw is that TCM is limited to..well..TCM. It can only get so broad before it stops.
    • There are only 3 maps as amazing as they are.. Still..only 3.. If it stays that way then GG..
    • It is a bit more complex than DBD in some areas that I'd say it requires comms to make it easier.
    • The outfit variety hopefully gets looked at, because as of right now, it's pretty lackluster.
    • I'll say that it does seem to disconnect everyone if one person gets dc'd. Hope that gets fixed.

Annnnnnnnndddd I'm spent. DBD has been out for quite awhile so obviously it's going to be easier to find more things wrong with it, but here's to hoping games like TCM keep coming out and evolving the genre. Games like TCM need to continue to be made and released to try and force DBD out of it's comfort zone. DBD needs to evolve to stay ahead of the game, because if it continues its current trajectory of overloading constant new content without fixing things that make it an outright bore to play much of the time, it's only going to hurt itself in the long run.

Maybe if they ever come to an agreement, DbD will be a good way to bring some attention to the J-man, but for the future I doubt we'll see anything F13 related.

Fell like they both have their reasons. Chucky is a toy so ya know, size problems, and Jason doesn't really HAVE a power. As teleportation isint confirmed, or new to DBD

Jason will be in the game eventually JSYK. The devs have been after him for quite some time. And they've already confirmed they know what they'd do to make him work so yes they have thought of a power for him.

  • Apparently they can't think of a way to make it work so I've given up hope. He hasn't been on the Satisfaction Surveys either, so I take that as they are not even considering him. It's a shame as Chucky and Jason are the onlyl 2 really big horror icons that are NOT in DBD as of yet.. :/ Just because Chucky is short that automatically counts him out? That's pretty messed up. This supposed 'hall of fame' of horror will NEVER be complete without Chucky so..

Those are temporary set backs that can easily be ignored by the sissy/hitchhiker meta. Add comms to Leatherface and that's a done deal

Pallets are temporary set backs what you mean? Not to mention the other things you can do. Turn lights off to hide in the dark and multiple different ways to escape.. Anyone saying DBD has more ways to counter the Killers is kidding themselves.. xD

  • @coco_shotz said:

You can't deny that there is a lack of counterplay in TCM regarding actual chases. In dbd you at least get pallets

Not sure what you're on about. There are so many holes and spots you can get through that most of the family cannot. I mean if they're all after you, that's just a better luck next time. Saying there isn't counter play though is clearly wrong. Not to mention one of the Victims can tackle the Family temporarily stunning them. Leland I think his name is. If anything there is more counter play in a single match of TCM than in a single match of DBD. DBD is pallets.. That's it. We're talking about the base game. So vs Trapper just pallets, vs Wraith just pallets, vs Hillbilly just pallets..etc etc..

  • @jajay119 said:

TCM has already grown a bit stale for me. Not gonna lie. Every match feels way more samey than DBD surprisingly.

Old NOED was one of the strongest arguments against doing totems, not in favour of it. It would need a complete redesign to work the way you want it to, and it would have to be paired with survivor buffs, too.

Whatever they need to do to make it so Survivors don't think Totems are a joke.

  • Freddy is extremely boring for what he's supposed to be. I mean you just can't get more watered down from the source material than DBD Freddy.. xD

Survivors have no pressure in end game either, unless all 4 make it there. But if pallets are gone before all gens pop good luck making it out. The game from the killer's side can be turned around even if he had a bad early game. The opposite cannot be done because survivors can't undo their teammates' death. Killer always makes it to end game.

    Completely agree.

    It really isn't.

Impossible is strong word. Improbable is a much more realistic term. I don't think anyone can argue that Solo is much harder.. I have to admit it almost feels like you're playing a different game when you're in Solo Q rather than a SWF..

  • @Xendritch said:

I will forever defend the ruin/undying meta as healthy for the game in giving survivors an alternate objective but apparently we don't actually want the other objectives people are asking for.

I try the Totem counter argument all the time. People seem to just ignore it at this point.. :/ I honestly think it'd make a big difference if people NEEDED to cleanse Totems for some reason or another. Not how it is currently.. "Oh, we only need to cleanse if we see a Hex..". No! Totems should ALWAYS be a concern for Survivors. They need to be given some scarier presence. Old NOED was for sure scary due to it not revealing itself and the Undying/Ruin combo wasn't as bad as people made it out to be.

  • Yup. I use all of them. No reason not to. Ty BHVR! :D Even though I use them I do wonder to myself all the time why we are allowed to. I mean its clearly giving me an advantage, but I'm not going to question or complain about something that's 'helping' me do better at the video game..lol.

Again im not trying to remove the aspect of the game that some find fun im just saying too many survivors do not have proper chase strategies they dont practice it enough and thus as soon as they are hooked they just suicide on that hook and move onto the next match, if more players practiced their chase game they could potentially give the killer a run for his or her money and eventually they always give up the chase when gens start popping off. You also need to be aware however of the timing of bloodlust so you know how long to stay in chase and eventually when your time will run out

Already sounds like too many things for a new person to wrap their head around. I just started playing TCM the other day, so I'll compare it to that. There is no confusing chase going on and there is no bloodlust mechanic, pallets or anything like that for new people to worry about. Yes there are traps, but that's expected. All Killers have stamina as well as the Survivors so its more fair. Just run and use nooks and holes to escape. Simple. I'm not saying it isn't going to get more competitive since people are just now finding things out, but from my perspective as a newer player of the game, it's a night and day difference from when I first played DBD in terms of easy to understand.

We'll have to wait and see how much TCM changes down the road and if it becomes harder, but if anything since the objective is so simple for Survivors, I can only see it getting easier. Only time will tell. I feel TCM is a more welcoming new player experience. Just because I'm new and the Killers being new as well still means I could easily win. If you sit 5 brand new people down and have them play DBD, I guarantee most of the time the Killer will win. TCM though, I'm not so sure. It's much more straight forward. Not to mention the maps are so huge that even though there are 3 COUNT EM 3 Killers after you, it's still hard for them to be everywhere at once like say...Blight...or Nurse...

Survivor in TCM compared to DBD just feels easier overall and I'm really not surprised. Seeing how horrible the new player experience has been in DBD for quite some time has me breathing a breath of fresh air while playing TCM. It's just easier to understand. No complicated chase mechanics. The looping that there is makes more sense thematically and it just feels good. Survivors act, sound, and move like they're helpless and scared, which DBD is missing since those new animations made them look all tough, standing up straight like they're a threat... Being able to swing not just ONE time but twice or even thrice as Killer feels so good.. DBD is just stuck with ancient game mechanics, that hopefully games like TCM force BHVR to change over time. News flash for everyone that would defend this, but hitting a Survivor 1 time.. and then constantly cleaning your weapon as a 'supposedly murderous' Killer is really stupid...and always has been..

To summarize for Survivor and Killers or Victims and the Family rather, I think TCM is just easier to pick up and play and I'm so glad it is as I'll be playing it for as long as its supported. Hopefully GUN can get their hands on more licenses so we can see them treated with the upmost respect and have as much passion poured into everything about them like they did with the new TCM. It doesn't just 'look' like horror * cough * dbd * cough * ..... IT FEELS LIKE HORROR and I'm loving it so far.

  • Doesn't mean the devs will ever add it unfortunately.. I've talked about it with people close to me for years. It would be a great game mode indeed, but the people we're relying on to add such a mode is the problem.

  • @C3Tooth said:

It does not, survivors will rush Gen and leave anyone caught by Noed.

Its only give killer a free kill each match they dont deserve, adding 25% extra kill that they should not have would lead a major nerf to killers in general.

Well it is my opinion. Not like anything we come up with will be implemented anyway, but I appreciate your feedback. Majority of Survivors are not 'Gen rushers'. My idea would affect that same majority. It obviously won't do anything to that small percentage of people you're talking about, but not much will.

  • @CS1_6 said:

It's the lack of objectives that survivors currently have that lead to this stale meta we're in now. Killers choosing to opt-out 1 survivor to have a 'fair' match is difficult to assess which both will have to experience a terrible quality time in dead by daylight. This desperate strategy only intensifies the survivors to repair generators swifly but what other choice do killers have?

What could be done about this without breaking the game significantly? What should be solved first?

I honestly have no clue. The nature of the game is to do the generators as fast as possible to have a higher chance of escape but for killers, you want to kill the survivors as fast as possible to decrease their chances of escape. How can we balance the scales?

Make old 'unrevealed' NOED base kit and you'll see those Generators slow down quite a bit.

This is what keeps most people. Without the licenses I think this game would've died out a LONG time ago. It needs to be said more often, because Generators "THE GAME" isn't very appealing... xD

I've got no idea where that supposed teaser came from, unfortunately, but the idea that it's hinting at a combo Joker/Jason chapter would be kinda cool

Lmao...oh boi... Reveal is some guy coming out with an off brand hockey mask on then takes it off to reveal the Joker... I'd die laughing..

I'd give him a crowbar, personally. The ol' Robin Special.

Even better! Did the devs really mention something somewhere to tip us off about the letter "J"? That would be a bit too on the nose for "J"ason if true..
