You guys do know you don't have to do the rifts, right?

Orion I actually agree with you here. I honestly think the rifts are nothing too bad. I get them done with multiple weeks left typically.

Yeah because everyone uses DS. Not everyone uses Object. Oh God, imagine 3 or 4 Objects every Match. Jeez

Its next up should of nerfed the worst one first.

i dont care too much about this topic but i will say more then survs, the killer side gets the most of treatment in terms of nerfs like when was the last time u saw a survivor nerf that wasnt just now this is actually fair change then anything

I wouldn't say so but to each their own.

  • @FrostySeal said:

Finally someone says it. I've argued with so many people that say the devs have a survivor bias, and every time I argue with them, they refuse to admit they're wrong.

Yeah because the devs are clearly survivor biased despite the fact survivors have been getting hefty nerfs.

  • @Mister_xD said:

its always the same in here...

Survivors get a buff / Killers get a nerf - the Killercommuity cries how Survivorsided the Devs are and that the game will be unplayable now.

Killers get a buff / Survivors get a nerf - the Survivorcommunity cries how Killersided the Devs are and that the game will be unplayable.

and then, a couple of weeks after the update dropped and people had actually enough time to test the new things out, all of a sudden all the complaints have died down, as people started realyzing that it wasnt even that bad.

of course that doesnt mean i would agree with all the changes the Devs have made by now (e.g. i dont think they should have made it easier for Billy to overheat again / at least not as drastic as they have), but a vast majority are a-okay, once you actually took the time to look at them and how they change the game.

Yeah but to me I find it extremely frustrating to read a post about the new patch and then someone saying the devs are biased towards this side or that. If they were truly biased they wouldn't make all these decisions.

I'd rather vs 4 Ds's every Match than 1 Object every Match. It's still unfair but it's not annoyingly unfair. And you can play around DS easier than Object.

Well alot of the killers are currently targeting DS instead of the bigger problem.

  • @MrDardon said:

    Hello People of the Fog!

Has someone else noticed an extreme Rise in Object users?

I mean, before I rarely saw Object and now I played 5 Matches of Killer with 4 Matches including at least 1 Object. In one there were even 2.

Does someone else get this extremely fun experience?

I really hope this Perk will be changed VERY soon, it gets really annoying. I'd rather face 1000 DS's than 1 Object.

I pretty much banned this Perk out of my Loadouts because I know how unfun it is to vs.

If it keeps happening, you'll see one less Killer for now because I won't play against bs like that.

My reason is because DS is gonna be killed and object is more fun.

They were, I remember they nerfed old Freddy because survivors were whining, also during the lunar event, they made the most stupid pallet change in the game, but quickly reverted it.

Back in the day during the howling ground guaranteed flashlight and pallet save yeah that was a survivor sided update I remember abusing that. It wasnt fair at all.

Well, other examples would include a lot of predicting which as it seems isn't generally accepted as valid counterplay vs sligner since he forces far more predicitons and more often then other killers do. Universally staying near him is bad idea so whenver I see someone who doesn't leave a unsafe tile for a safer one after slinger misses just makes my head hurt.

Other killers have slowdowns because their powers are more lethal in a sence that their projectiles deal damage and/or have much faster reload/recovery for snowballing besides often having some kind of another alt power. Slinger needs much more time to confirm his hits and has no other alt power or normal MM speed which is why his power doesn't have other "average" slowdowns.

Also I wanted to ask, were you playing DBD already during slinger's PTB ? Since there was liteally no one who complained about him (chase fun/fairness wise) during his PTB and a small period of time after his release. I though someone like you would offer a lot of feedback on killer like him during the PTB when any changes were most likely to happen.

His predicting aspect just makes game boring. It either I guess right or die. No real skill involved there. Making distance works and using that sb from hit is good. Then you gotta pre throw tour way to victory. The problem is in solo you need teammates to be actively doing gens because you are going through alot of pallets.

Sure slinger has to take a bit more time to get hits but it really is not that long. He gets guarenteed hits at window in open and iij n most short wall loops.

I was playing dbd during his release. During ptb I watched he didnt look too bad but playing my matches on live servers I already said he was a problem since day one. same with PH a problem since day one. That zoning and insta shoot. He can shoot over a lot of tiles.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1656703#Comment_1656703

I know that as slinger main I'll always be at least a little bit biased towards him but my general stance is that not a single killer's power right now is badly designed to deserve huge changes, not even slinger. I agree with a few things that should change aboout him like M2 release spam & possibly also TR but other then those nothing is inherently breaking the game to warrant significant changes.

Chase experience/skill still matters a lot vs slinger, I would know since I've seen soooo many horrible survivors who have literally 0 idea how to play against slinger. Even the basic things like "if you get hit by his power in open loop you should leave it insted of deciding  to waster your hit SB and stay there" among others more complex.

Many killers have in-build zoning that can benefit them to gain distance, slinger just brings it one tier higher, it's annoying sure but not broken.

Tbh it's a matter of preference. I love playing against killers like slinger and hate killers like trapper other people don't have a problem with. And every killer is beaten by doing gens, it doesn't have much to do with only slinger, especially since many people can't play him so you hava more time then average to do gens anyway.

In a sense the base of chase skills/experience matters verses slinger. You provided a good example of instead of wasting hit sb you make distance to a better tile. However that's the basics and you also still got hit.

Killers with zoning such as demo slow down and have a better telegraph. He doesnt zone by existing and his zone is way easier to read at loops. It isnt just insta shoot it actually has more boundries rather than shoot over this and pull around cause loops are short. Slingers zoning is just gross. I struggle to find out how he got past ptb.

Yes preference is the only thing at the end of the day. You may enjoy killers like slinger but u enjoy killers like billy. A killer who can punish you and aldo provides equal opportunity to outplay.

  • @lucid4444 said:

    "You can't do anything"

You can do LOTS. Looping a DS isn't possible at some loops but very easy on others. Dropping the pallet early stops him dead in his tracks

"You didn't juke him, he just missed"

Yes you can, when he misses.. that's called juking. It's the same thing in First Person Shooters - when someone bobs and weaves to dodge shots that are hitscan (literally 0 projectile travel time) that's juking.

"If he starts faking his shots and I juke, he just gains distance and hits me"

Then don't juke. You have to adapt to how the killer is playing. And like I mentioned earlier, you have to play differently to the other killers. Just like... nearly all the killers. No you can't loop him like a Wraith, but that's not the Wraith's strong suit. DS's strength is (close range) loop ending - and he's not even the best at that.

As soon as you said you could juke a hit scan, 0 travel time in your words. I stopped reading. That is litterly you didnt juke hr missed. I'm pretty sure at max range you can possibly ju see a slinger because I find myself leading if far away.

I think he has the grounds to talk about slinger, because he is one of the top 10 slingers on the leaderboards and playerstats.

I know he mains slinger and is top 10. That doesnt change anything on how he has an instant shoot and can zone by being there.

They were always associated with those names. Michael and freddy but spirit and slinger that's jsut a tidbit weird.

    1. stop running your second chance perks and get something that actually tells you if the killer's approaching, be it spinechill, ooo or anything like that. run kindred
    2. pay attention to your surroundings.
    3. stealth. seriously, show us your sneaking skills.
    4. know your gens. genspeed/strategical gen popping IS counterplay against low pressure/mobility killers.

to argue 'but the game rewards chases' is faulty logic: by now there are perks that work against the current 'rewards' (e.g. PWYF) so the statement is outdated

So in other words I become blendette and rush gens? Well the gen rush posts are gonna be back. Nobody wants to hold m1, stealthing puts me to sleep, killers have stealth players because nobody wants to check every patch of grass, finally you don't discourage the only thing that survivors have for real fun.

  • @Kebek said:

Many people can't accept and thus don't like that slinger is supposed to be extremely deadly on close range in most cases, just like nurse. The general hate towards him reminds me of the old days when nurse came out during the infinites meta and everyone hated her because she could negate all of the basic looping and forced completely new playstyle on survivors.

With slinger it's a simmliar case of new playstyle called "get the ######### as far away as you can or you'll die" and most survivors don't really like that. I've seen so many survivors who don't have any idea how to play against deathslinger and make the most obvious mistakes in chase and get downed near instantly.

I hope devs won't nerf/rework him since I enjoy playing against him quite a bit so I would miss to play him and play against him.

Kebek I like you but you are prefacing this as a slinger main. People dont like slinger because of his terrible design. The one interaction you have as survivor is completely negated from average to good slingers. The free zoning by just moving is absolutely ludicrous. What killer can make you lose distance by just existing?

I dont see how this does not seem like a problem for some people. These killers only further push towards genrush stealth meta where killers will moan about how gen speeds are to fast. It Is a double edged sword.

    "shake up your gameplay"

Normal chases; mindgame a loop/pallet and use my power/knowledge of the killer's power to outplay them.

Slinger; hope they are bad. getting zoned for free is not. Like it or not, the height of this game is the chasing, its where the interactions happen, its where outplay potential happens, etc. Playing immersed is not fun for either side.

sidenote; am i the only one who finds it weird to call killers by their names? (Rin, Caleb, etc)

This right here. My main problem with slinger is if they are a bad slinger they stop shooting. Due to his isnta shooting nature you have to dodge because he could still very well shoot at any moments notice.

Also yeah I said that to him before calling killers by their real name.

Yes, do you know his reason? Because karu goes for skillful shots and doesn't play him "optimally" by zoning with no counterplay.

So becaus karu rather use the power for it's intended use hes bad? Yikes I havent really interacted with him head on much I would never know.

And killers having too much counter-play is literally a response you can put in the current survey for a killer being TOO WEAK!

The plague has a strong power in theory but because her power is almost entirely determind by the survivors she is one of the weakest killers in practice in the game.

Yes if you get caught out(If he's close enough to shoot at 18(13-14 realistically due to travel time and you running away) meters with direct LoS then you were caught out as that's how his power works) then you get smacked but that is also true with most killers.

In the same situation with an oni you go splat, billy can see that you saw you own demise, blight will run you over, Leather face would show you the pain train, The wraith would go ding dong your dead, the nurse and spirit would make you say nani before you died, and ext.

If he's close enough to shoot(18 max and 13-14 meters realistically) out in the open with direct LoS away from a pallet nearly any killer could hit you there.

Yes I understand if you are out of position any killer could get you that's not even what I'm arguing.

  • @ToxicMyers said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1655074#Comment_1655074

If he thinks you'll dodge and you commit he just lost a hit. Deathslinger isn't op at all in loops, only time he actually shines is in open areas, where you are already screwed with any other ranged killer, nurse? Get blinked on. Huntress? Get sniped Demo? You incorrectly predict them to attack and you get hit PH? Well his ability is crap in the open. Clown? He slows you down and m1 you etc etc. There are killers who do way worse yet yall choose a weak and boring killer to complain about. That's like saying old freddy should have been nerfed.

I dont think deathslinger is op I'm gonna start off with that. He doesnt just shine in open areas short wall loops, shacks even jungle gyms if ran correctly by the deathslinger.

Even outside of animation lock and windows all he has to do is put his gun up and walk at you. If he doesnt go for quickshlts and hard aims you have to dodge.

You could say he has to guess but as soon as you run through he can shoot. On demo it's obvious when hes zoning he also slows down huntress and nurse are whole different story. I think slingers problem is that he in the open can just cheese you. Even against nurse and huntress you still have a chance if there's trees around but slinger it's just cheese.

Slinger has an oppressive ability thats why we choose him. Atleast for me. That is an opinion technically I suppose since alot of people dont feel that way.

It's a 50/50 for both sides, he needs you to predict if you'll dodge, or commit to the pallet.

He just has to have his gun out and be patient there is no guessing.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1654937#Comment_1654937

If you are running to a pallet in a straight line, it's a 50/50 whether you don't accept bait or dodge unless he is close. There is also going path that block LOS towards pallets so it can be dropped safely (such as pallet gyms).

It's a 50/50 for the survivor but not for him.

    Blah blah blah

No point arguing with someone that demands all killer powers have clear and defined counterplay.

Replace killers with bots already because their skill shouldn't matter and it should always be the survivors fault 100% for getting hit.

It is the single, most boring and frustrating argument in this forum.

THERE IS A REASON PEOPLE DONT USE PYRAMIDHEADS ATTACK IN THE OPEN because it isn't up to him if the survivor gets hit by it. This is what clear and defined counterplay causes.

You want Deathslinger to slow to 90% when aiming with a longer aim time and 2 to 3 second cooldown so you can jiggle about and force the teeny tiny hitbox to miss through your "skill" of swiveling a stick. Or be slowed for so long that you reach the safety net every time with no opposition.

    We get it.

This is a strawman argument and you reaching at everything you can can. I never said I counterplay that's easy, or super clear or whatever you are trying to say. I want counterplay where my input/skill matters. I thought I made that clear. Or maybe you dont have any argument to say so this is your last resort.

Nobody wants bot killers. Survivors just want a chance to win a chase.

I don't have superiority complex that doesn't matter to me , it's true that the game wouldn't be here without the people who grind it from the beginning because they didn't even expect this game to become as big as it did , the people who supported them made it all possible and that was a gift to us for being there , it's BS to just piss it out to people when it was presented to us as a thank you , does that make more sense ?

Yeah that's a better way of wording it. I understand why you sont want your legacy to be given out but my event exclusives from summer bbq and bowling grounds were. For free too. Legacy should be a grind to get nowadays and well obtainable but one last time. It's too much contradictions from the devs. I will agree with you though if you and the other ogs werent here the game probably wouldn't have gotten this big.

Oh I get it you have a superiority complex. I'm supposed to respect you because you played video game 1 year earlier than me. Yeah no buddy. You didnt do nothing special other than spend like 20 dollars and enjoy a game. That's really all it is.

There are so many situations where you don't have time to look around for someone with a flashlight. At the gates, at lockers, in an open area too far from walls etc etc.

Well that's not a flashlight problem that's a you problem. Also when survivors realize you have it they wont blind you anymore. Also it's really obvious when flashlight users are creeping around.

  • @ClickyClicky said:

In fairness you should play against a killer too before defending them.

Case in point old Freddy. Fun to play as, tiresome to play against. For me Ghostface is in the same situation.

    We agree for once clicky!

  • The perk shoudnt even exist. It let's bad killer be bad. You dont learn anything. Look at walls if you are scared of flashlights. Bait pickups look around. Also it's a useless ultra rare it needs something to be worthy of the rarity.

  • @MrsPiggyIsSoSneaky said:

So first you defend using stretched res and now you want op flashlights back? Whats next? You want two pallet spawns back?

I never said I want op flashlights back. I simply asked for the add ons to he more useful and not pollute my blood webs. Double pallet spawns are also not fair. I don't remember saying I did though why are you bring that up?

  • @Ilovezarina5 said:

They should bring insta blind, I mean now you hace a perk that make you inmmune to blind

Nah that's not fair. I was also thinking that odd bulb allows you to blind through lightborn at normal speed.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm fine with them not going back to blind reduction add-ons, but I agree that all of these add-ons should at least serve a purpose. The range, grip, and beam width add-ons should actually have noticeable effects. The Odd Bulb should not be worse than the rare equivalent.

It's been 3 years a faster blind wouldnt be that bad. Especially with his fast the pickup animation is.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

Odd Bulb should show the sweet spot for blinding.

The sweet spot is the head. It should do something that makes the flashlight stronger not a cosmetic piece.

It's really not that simple if a survivor actively juking left and right at range. It's a pretty fine hitbox. Not a high percentage shot

Ok so now you are closing distance on them because they lose forward momentum. See how poorly designed his power is? If you dodge he gains distance, if you dont he shoots you instantly. It also isnt even a 50/50 since he has to sit and react.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

75% of Deathslinger complaints would be resolved by people taking the time to play him. Especially since crossplay has been out. I'm on PC and a lot of console players are straight up bulletproof. Like the harpoon has a 25% chance of actually registering. I had an Ace do the motion like he had been hit twice in a row without it actually registering, and I had 40ms ping. But apparently Slinger can quickscope and automatically hit everyone.

That's a game issue not the actually power. If we were to forget about bugs. Any average slinger could hit quickscopes consistently.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

More people need to start doing this, the amount of arguments I've seen about a killer due to the lack of experience they have against them/playing as them is insane.

It's obvious I'm mainly referring to deathslinger here, but this also applies to hag, PH, etc, you know them killers.

Just before I get called out, this does NOT mean I'm trying to say "Oh you're just bad against X killer, git gud". Some killers have some mechanics that are annoying, in fact every killer has something that can be deemed annoying, I hate michael and pig, the killers that are seen as the most "fun" in the game.

But do not complain about something that is caused by your lack of experience playing as or against the killer.

And even, if a killer is annoying you, play that killer and see if you find anything such as strategies, that could help against said annoying mechanic. Don't assume that you're some survivor god who knows everything and all possible outcomes against that killer, as it's likely that there's a main of that killer that knows 100x more than you.

I played slot of deathslinger albeit I'm not the best but it really isnt hard. His built in zoning makes sending chases super easy. On top of that animation locks are free spears. Quick shots are the hardest part but arent impossible and actually not difficult to preform.

And how is seeing more terrain not an advantage during a chase? You'll be able to plan your pathing even better and sometimes see the red light when you are not supposed to on a normal resolution.

If you scouted the map before hand it would not matter if you could see more terrain anyways. What do you mean see the red light when you arent supposed to? In the clip I provided the red light was there regardless of resolution.

You said it right there. You also conflated everyone who disagrees with you to the same exact stance, which is likely why you were so willing to tell us what we think. Also, you're claiming that by not disavowing something directly, you're allowed to put words in my mouth and misrepresent my position. nice.

Back on topic: My argument is that stretched res is cheating, which is something you have tried to claim it wasn't in regards to survivor multiple times. The twitch clip you posted is even a streamer trying to make the argument that it isn't cheating. Not only that, but you then tried to claim that it IS cheating, but only for killers using it. My argument, along with multiple other people in this thread, is that all stretched res is cheating, even if you disagree with the benefit of it.

I'm going off of what you write plain and simple. If you dont want to be misinterpreted clarify. You cant say im just minterpreting what you say but then not clarify.

Im going to be more clear and try to say my approach one more time.

Stretched res isnt cheating atleast for survivors. Even 1080 x 1080 doesnt let you see more of the killer when running a loop. If anything its cheating for killers because well built in lightborn, non existent fatigue.

Also the everyone in here isnt speaking about cheating with stretched for killers. It's all about how its unfair survivors use it. I havent seen a single person aside from me bring it up.

"Argument by projection is when someone makes a point, but is actually against it. This is usually done as a cover so that their argument seems more rational, and their opponent’s argument irrational." Your implication was purely because you wanted to be right, so you tried to tell me what I said rather than actually take the information at face value. This is a big part of why you think people "gang up" on you in these forums, you're constantly misrepresenting them to yourself to try to solidify your belief.

I mean, it takes time to blind, so any killer can just.... not look directly at you when you try to blind? You're making it sound like killers suddenly can't be blinded while animation locked or something, which is the only time you should really actually be able to land a blind if the killer has a working mouse (or right thumbstick)

So where exactly did you say you disagree with doing this? This works especially well with spirit and nurse. For nurse fatigue is pretty much non existent and spirit you can fair your phase much easier because a survivor witn a flashlight cant check.

I think you can blind at a pallet still or amy other animation lock but it doesnt remove the fact that any time your character does an animation of looking down you can still see relatively normal.

So are you trying to tell me that I'm just misinterpreting what everyone in this thread is saying and they arent against stretched res? Alright man this is no where close to what the actual thread is about. What even is your argument?

I also dont think people constantly gang up on me. I do however think I can have multiple people disagree with me because thays just how opinions work.

Also I didnt really project anything I made two assumptions. That's literally all it was. I could of got angry or wrote something rude but I didnt.

stretched res is cheating for both sides. Are you implying that I somehow claimed it wasn't? When did I defend anything about stretched res?

Also having access to that information DOES matter, because it lets you see if pallets have been wasted or not, as well as seeing other loops/windows you can route to. That is free information.

Well you did say it on a tone of it "it doesnt really matter because it takes time to blind anyways." Sounds like you are defending it right there.

In a swf that information is useless due to callouts. Also once again scouting the map is going to render that info useless.

Projecting onto others not only doesn't help win them over, but it makes your viewpoint look less genuine.

All I did was make a couple assumptions I didnt even write in an angry or hateful tone. It was more snarky than anything.

yes i knew that you can stretch screens on killers, and looking down rotates your camera so you can see over edges better

I'd also like to point out that the advantage is supposed to be there when the killer is hugging a tall loop but they are always really far back. Still messes with the validity but I guess im just a toxic survivor main.

No. I'm just saying even when I specifically went out of my way to avoid DS I still ate it. Within playing 2 games.

Normally I am happy to tunnel survivors into the floor so I understand why it exists. But it's pretty bad to get nailed by it 40-50 seconds later by full health survivors on generators.

If you normally tunnel survivors. I cant show you sympathy.

No way you guys don't even understand how bad the grind was when we had to get those I would be pissed if they just gave them out after all this time , It shows I was there from the start helping this game thrive and I like that about it, you see who the true originals are that way

Didnt you guys get like a double bloodpoints event at the last week for the final push? Also being an og doesnt mean much in the long scheme of things other players could have way more hours than you.

"Kinda ruins its validity but I dont think you noticed that did you?"

"Bet you didnt know this type of stretched is cheating for killers did you?"

You're so pretentious lol. Twice now you've just assumed what I think out of nowhere. You're just grasping at straws to justify the cheating.

Yeah I'm sorry about that I'm kinda frustrated I have multiple people coming at me. Excuse that but please since these were all assumptions you knew both correct?

I mean, it takes time to blind, so any killer can just.... not look directly at you when you try to blind? You're making it sound like killers suddenly can't be blinded while animation locked or something, which is the only time you should really actually be able to land a blind if the killer has a working mouse (or right thumbstick)

In any case, with that link you posted, you can still see more of the loop in, which not only gives you more information for routing but would also allow you to easier see the red glow around the sides of the loop, or even on other terrain if the killer moonwalks to hide it. It's adjusting game files to give yourself an unintended advantage, I.E cheating.

Honestly, the thing that pisses me off the most about this crap is the people who defend abusing stuff like this are the excuse the devs have been using to avoid putting colorblind options in the game for years. They won't do it because non-colorblind people will exploit it. Way to prove them right.

That doesnt matter it's still technically cheating. The killer can still just look down and never have to look up. Its still cheating. It allows you to see normally while looking down!

The routing doesnt matter if you have already scouted the map before hand which is what most survivors do. You could already see the red glow before he stretched it. Why would the killer leave the loop the survivor is? If they moonwalk you arent gonna be able to see it.

You are defending the fact that you can look down and still see perfectly and play the game like that. Hypocrite much? Maybe if the devs werent so incompetent color blind settings wouldnt give an advantage it's not the players fault.

So you are telling me you NEVER complained that you get slugged, camped or tunneled or whatever else?

And you never make these stupid ,,Them vs us" threads to bash about players like this? Cmon

Maybe back in the day I complained about slugs. I dont even complain about getting tunneled that's fun. Camping is annoying but in a good swf team it's possible to counter.

I could definitely make better threads as it seems us vs them but I truly do appreciate and do not dislike killer mains.

Also once again I never complained about players, nor what they did in that old post I made. But I guess keep bringing it up?
