  • Yeah, I think that's the cause of the weird stuff on Autohaven maps. I kind of wish they reduced RNG to a minimum, it causes a lot of bad spawns still.

  • I'm mostly a survivor player. Overall, the changes are pretty good but some of the changes were unnecessary and they went too far with certain main building windows.

Removal of the god loops are great but they made some main building windows too weak, like the grim pantry window. The also failed to fix the Ironworks window. It can now be an actual infinite if the window spawns on one side, I hope they fix that.

They made many maps smaller, which is great but once again some of the choices are weird. Like why did they make Wreckers Yard smaller but not Blood Lodge? That map had a great size and wasn't really problematic in my opinion. They did a great job in terms of map sizes on coldwind farm maps especially.

In certain maps, they removed a lot of jungle gyms (which I don't mind) but they didn't put anything in their places and now those areas are dead zones. This is especially noticable on Autohaven maps. There is also something weird going on with Blood Lodge even though that map didn't get changed according to the patch notes. Sometimes there are 0 pallets in the entire middle area. I'm hoping that is just a bug.

  • You can't see the killers perks or addons until the match is over.

  • Maybe your progress didn't get saved somehow? Do you still have the other stuff you spent bloodpoints on yesterday?

When the new patch arrives, you won't be able to do it anymore, that's why everyone is complaining about it here

Technically, there will still be a way to do it but it is basically modifying the game files at that point because it involves pak files.

  • Did you guys improve vaults in this update? There is no mention of it in the patch notes but they feel a lot better.

actually you just need to change the overriderender line for one of two other options.

    I personally use [/Script/Engine.GarbageCollectionSettings]

That also doesn't work on the PTB, they disabled any modifications to the engine.ini file.

    “Doctor got nerfed“ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Killer main victimhood reaches a new level

I'm waiting for the "map reworks are a buff to survivors" posts already lmao

  • What really annoys is me how they refuse to say anything about this topic. People asked so many times why we don't have options for basic stuff like these and they never give any answers. I would understand it if this was something hard to implement but especially anti aliasing is really not at all.

Wait so let me get this straight

You were changing game code to get an advantage over other players? and now are mad that you can't anymore?

I can understand frustation against the settings but being mad you can't change things to get an advantage?

It's BHVR's fault for not putting an option ingame for disabling it. Literally every game has an option to disable it except DBD. You can't blame people for not wanting to play the game with extremely blurry visuals.

  • I don't mind going against them once in a while if the killer doesn't instantly tunnel you off hook. I just want to get out of those matches as fast as possible.

I assume with recently you mean the ruin nerf? So you dont consider the Nurse or Legion or spirit rework nerfs?

While it is true that survivors had a lot of nerfs, most of them i consider justified. Instaheals, DS, exhaustion, meddle of man, yeah i think they were op.

The thing is that surivors are mainly skins, and if you nerf survivors by nerfing perks or other mechanics, you are nerfing all of them. That was done with ruin nerf to killers, too, but most other nerfs on killers were on specific killers and didnt affect the rest.

This ignoring of the specific killer nerfs is the thing that makes your post seems very biased, because you just ignore them.

I still think survivors are in a good place. If the upcoming changes swing the pendulum too far in the other direction, there will be a next wave of corrections. But that said, i play both sides, but mainly survivor (60-70% of games, mostly solo), so every change to whatever side affects me anyway, both good and bad. Maybe thats why i am more relaxed than people that play only one side.

I can just tell every one to play both sides, a) to learn the limitations of the other side, and i think its widen your viewpoint.

I would only consider the ruin nerf and nurse nerf as significant as the survivors recieved over the years. Spirit nerf was barely a nerf and the first legion rework was 100% necessary.

Almost every killer nerf was justified as well. Nurse was extremely broken with addons, spirit's nerf was deserved, I'd say the ruin nerf should have been done after the map reworks but those are happening now as well.

I can't think of any big nerfs killers had before the nurse nerf except the mori nerf and they are still quite overpowered.

  • Playing survivor is toxic

I really hope you're right.. I refuse to play the PTB because the last time we did, the Devs didn't make a single change based off of player feedback.

I usually stay on the PTB for a few hours and then go back to the normal version but this time I stayed until I couldn't find any lobbies. It felt so good not having bs hits every single match. I was really surprised because I was also having higher ping than usual and everything was still great.

  • They are improved on the ptb even though it's not mentioned at all in the patch notes. I played quite a bit and didn't encounter a single bs hit.

  • They are much better on the PTB for me. Vaults are definitely improved, the stutter doesn't happen anymore after vaulting.

  • Not being able to turn off anti aliasing is going to drive me insane in the next patch. I would be happy even with only options for basic things like vsync and anti aliasing in game. It seriously baffles me how there are still no options for these in 2020.

Finally someone who sees it the same way. Solo is the most fun I get in the game, because you just don't know how good the killer is and how good your team will be. You have to ADAPT.

If solo is too hard for you, play SWF. Simple as that.

How do you adapt when your team is useless and they all go down in 15 seconds at max?

You actually can,but i don't want to talk about it here. It involves pak files, lets leave it at that

Isn't changing those files bannable? I don't think many people would want to mess with that stuff.

  • Yep. As a solo player I am considering quitting for the first time (or not playing that much) until a decent ranking system is implemented. Solo survivor was tolerable for me before the rank reset changes but now I get useless teammates way too often. All that rank reset change did was nerf solo players. One of the worst changes in the game so far.

@Raccoon this is what modded stain looks like:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/279/DI7XVUYD5BW8.png

Also, you can tell whether someone increased their stain size by the campfire in the lobby. If the campfire doesn't cast shadows,it's modded,if it casts shadows it isn't modded.

This is no longer possible in the next game update. You cannot change anything from the engine.ini file anymore (which means you also can't disable anti aliasing anymore which is stupid).

As for the topic, vaults and hit detections are significantly improved on the PTB so hopefully stuff like this will happen a lot less soon.

  • After looking at the new maps a bit more, there are definitely new dead zones but they aren't the maps mentioned here and they aren't really caused by the reduction of pallets.

For example, they decided to remove several tiles from Wretched Shop (which I don't really get because that map was mostly fine without the god loop) but they didn't put anything in their places and now those areas are complete dead zones. If you get caught working on a gen in those areas it's a free hit or down without sprint burst.

Some of the main building windows are also absolutely useless now and they failed to fix the ironworks window. Really makes me wonder if they actually tested these reworks.

  • Why do people still think high rank means skill in this game?

  • @ZoneDymo said:

You dont need items to begin with, come on.

    That's not the point :)

  • One more thing I would like to add to that list is just how many useless addons survivors have.

For example, there are 13 flashlight addons. 6 of them literally don't do anything, totally useless. 3 of them are also bad but they at least do something. Only 4 of the addons are worth your bloodpoints really. It already takes a long time to find those 4 addons and with this change they are just one use.

This change could have only worked if they reduced the amount of addons survivors have quite a bit and that's not hard at all with the amount of useless or very weak addons.

There was very little thought process behind this change and you can tell because they didn't even bother changing white ward. You have to die to keep your addons, makes a lot of sense.

No kidding, it's a multi-player game? I didn't know that. Never heard anyone refer to a genre as multiplayer before. I was under the impression it was a survival horror game.

Well, the point is you can't make a game like this scary, especially because it's a multiplayer game.

  • @Cardgrey said:

Why not just make it to play this game a ping of 60 or less is required and don’t let people play who can’t meet that.

i personally am ok with it the way it is but if you have that much a issue let’s just fix it all and limit a lot of people from playing

That would make a ton of people just unable to play the game. Being able to see the killer's ping would be a decent solution but the best solution is to just change how hits work and make them better.

DBD has these problems mostly because hits are calculated from the killer's perspective and having high ping as killer is like cheating. I don't remember any other game where having high ping actually gives you an advantage.

As of late I would say it's the opposite. It's a stomping ground for survivors to slaughter killers. If the fear of having a slim chance to survive is not part of the game then this is hardly a horror game. Glad changes are being made to balance it out

DBD is not a horror game. It's a multiplayer game with horror elements.

You can't make a game like this scary. You stop being scared after like 10 hours at max and that's basically the case with every game.

  • Yep. I'm gonna stay in the PTB until it closes for the first time. So glad they finally fixed them.

EDIT: Well, I'm taking that back because I can't find any matches on the PTB anymore.

  • A lot of people agree that haddonfield is very survivor sided but how is badham one of the most survivor sided maps?

  • Hit detection is so much better on the PTB, for me at least. There is nothing about this on the patch notes but I don't think I encountered a single bs hit on the PTB and I was having higher than usual ping. Stutters after vaults are gone now and I'm certain that hit detection is improved.

  • Without the sound bugs, definitely spirit.

  • Nope, a lot of people don't care about ranks. Ranks absolutely don't mean anything in the current state of the game and literally no one would use the perk if it got changed like that. If it doesn't punish tunnelling directly then it's just worthless.

  • This isn't anything new. Happened to me quite often before the ptb. Gas Heaven is one of the maps with terrible RNG unfortunately.

Gas Heaven, Shelter Woods and Yamaoka Estate maps have the most horrible RNG regarding pallets in my opinion. Shelter woods also has very little pallets and sometimes spawns like 1 jungle gym. I've seen Yamaoka Estate spawn 0 pallets in the middle area as well.

Hopefully they'll also address stuff like these in the later map changes.

  • @FilthyQuentin said:

Is there a chance of getting banned?

No one has been banned yet so probably not.

You should know that this method will probably not work in the next patch so enjoy it while you can. There is no way to disable antialiasing on the PTB.

That's why they should use the old hair materials on LOW and turn off AA , this AA was the worst change they have ever made

Old hairs looked better anyway imo. Some of the hairs are transparent now for some reason and it looks dumb.

  • @Jota said:

Make a post like this in PTB feedback so they might change it there , the game is too blurry I can't see anything

I really doubt they care about this anymore tbh. In the latest patch they changed the commands for disabling it and now that doesn't work either so it feels like they actually don't want people disabling it for some reason.

  • Yeah I noticed this is as well. This is seriously one of the best patches yet.

If only there was a mechanic that allowed you to not see fake pallets and more or less memorize which loops have already been used, or straight up ignore the dream snares... Oh wait, that's right it's called "Wake Up"

Waking up turns Freddy into a solid M1 killer with absolutely no abilities, and for most survivors who can abuse every single loop imaginable on most maps, you'd be pretty hard pressed to convince me he has no counterplay.

So I guess that makes you 0 for 2 right now

"There is almost nothing like these against freddy" my butt, when there is a direct counter for survivors to use built into his kit. As well I would consider going up against a good huntress far more difficult than a good Freddy. A good Huntress times her shots properly and anticipates your dodge before you even do it, making it almost like you couldn't dodge at all. Trying to mindgame a good huntress can be very dangerous, a trademark characteristic of good Huntresses and Deathslingers is knowing when it is quicker to m1 than use their ability. (IE - Oh, this survivor who would normally make this vault in time against another m1 killer would actually be opening himself up to an easy huntress hatchet catching him while he's in the vault animation or shortly after, so the survivor jukes left sliding against window and the L wall and tries to make the T wall instead, but now he has just opened himself up for a really easy m1 because the Huntress never threw the hatchet in the first place to slow her down after anticipating a possible juke)

I would much rather go up against a Freddy than a Huntress because I know he's got nothing while I'm awake. And sure if a Huntress runs out of hatchets she's in a worse position than Freddy because she's 110, however, again we're talking really good for both killers. It is very rare to catch a Huntress out of hatchets, if she is it's only because she's sunk them into so many survivor's bodies and she's got a few on the ground. On the rare occasion she is out of hatchets and you're still on your feet, if she's really that good and really that consistent you're only delaying the inevitable for a few meager seconds until she finds the nearest locker. If you've ran as far away as possible - that's what the long distance shots are for.

Of course I can understand how one might mistake the poor performance of many Huntress players as "easier to counter". She has a higher skill floor and is far more difficult to use than Freddy, and as such you won't see that amazing performance as often because it takes more work. She's also a free killer which means generally speaking more new players who haven't decided to spend money on other DLC and haven't yet earned that many other characters will probably be using her. New players who simply are not as good or technically skilled.

I never said he has no counterplay. If you are in the dream state, the counterplay is dropping pallets instantly which is boring like I said. His main ability is snares or pallets and you will always go against that in a match. Waking up is a (temporary) counter play against him of course but in what way does that make him fun? Going against a killer with no ability isn't fun either and when he does have his ability it's just as boring.

Also, my point wasn't just "huntress has more counterplays". The point was how many options you have against her and how skillful going against her (and playing as her) is. Dropping pallets instantly requires no skill unlike the stuff I mentioned with huntress. Freddy's main ability should be skillful to use and counter and it's simply not in both of those.

The most fun killers tend to be the ones that require the most skill to play as and play against like huntress and hillbilly in my opinion.

Also, you are still talking as if I'm saying he is overpowered for some reason even though I clearly stated that he wasn't. Clown is also a boring killer because the counterplay of his ability is also just "drop the pallet early" in a lot of cases but that doesn't mean he is overpowered.

  • This map will always be boring but they could have fixed the deadzone issues by just adjusting the RNG.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1194271#Comment_1194271

Even though that same method is required for possibly half a dozen or more other killers?

You need drop the pallet early against a Huntress or take a hatchet to the face, you need to drop the pallet early against a Deathslinger otherwise take a harpoon to the chest, you should probably drop a pallet early on a Hillbilly or Leatherface even though you're at full unless you want to be chainsawed down into dying state, the legion that's running toward you in feral frenzy might make you more inclined to drop the pallet on his face rather than run the loop so he's forced out of his power and you're not injured and put in the deep wound state at the same time as three of your teammates, you're probably going to want to drop the pallet early on Doctor, if you wait too long you get shocked and stunned and he gets a free hit off you, if you try to run the loop on a Hag too long over dropping a pallet early she's gonna quickly drop a trap on one side of it and stay on the other making the entire loop unsafe and sticking a clawed hand up your butt, if you don't want the Demogorgon to shred your entire back you better drop the pallet early too.

Ah but as soon as Freddy drops a snare "It BeCoMeS InSaNeLy BoRiNg/UnSaTiSfYiNg tO PlAy AgAiNsT HiM."

    Yeah right. *Deathslinger spits*

There are a lot more stuff you can do against those killers compared to Freddy.

For example, against huntress you can dodge hatchets, mindgame vaults and pallet throws to make her miss, predict where and when she is going to throw, know when she runs out of hatchets and take advantage of her slow speed etc.

There is almost nothing like these against freddy. If you are going against a decent freddy who knows where to place their snares, you can't really do anything except dropping the pallet instantly (and even then he can just spam snares to get a hit). If he is using fake pallets then it is just random guessing in most cases and when you do know which pallets are real he just becomes an M1 killer with no ability in that loop, which is still boring.

Also, being unsatisfying and boring does not mean overpowered at all. I always prefer going against a very strong but fun killer rather than a weaker and more boring one.

Lmao, wait a minute, this is actually the right answer.

I mean seriously, you can't tell me that a burn victim, with a homemade clawed glove who is bleeding through generators, flickering in and out of visibility, and creates pools of blood through which the souls of the damned grab and tug at you as you run past is BORING.

But pre-rework Freddy which made sitting on a generator and holding m1 10x slower was not boring???

You're not fooling anybody survivor mains. Especially the fellas like me who play both ######### sides

To me as a survivor the only "boring" situation is not one that is killer limited, it's any killer who decides to camp. Camping is no fun for anybody, the guy camping gets to sit there, the guy getting camped gets to hang there, and I get to sit on a generator holding m1. Very cool gameplay fun guy (of course this doesn't include situations where the killer is forced to do so, IE super aggressively altruistic survivors, or it's the endgame and no generators are left, in which case I get it).

When the method of countering said man is just "drop the pallet early" or "guess the right pallet" it becomes insanely boring/unsatisfying to play against him.

Well you should check out the devstreams before accusing people of doing something to cause lag on purpose.

This has everything to do with the dedicated servers, the devs dedicated an entire devstream about this issue and are working on a fix for it, know that if you got hit, you got hit, you simply did not see how far the killer actually was from you due to lag and hte server favors the killer for hit registering.

You can clearly tell when someone is using a VPN (or they have terrible internet) though. It's not just regular dedicated server hits. You can drop a pallet on their face and get hit like 3 seconds later, you can get hit from several meters away, sometimes without even seeing the killer. Going against killers like this used to be an instant dc for me since there is no reason to play and it is common enough to be a problem in my opinion.

  • They should just let survivors see the killer's ping to fix this but they probably won't because queue times are already bad enough.

True to a point yes. I know there are a ton of bugs on PC, but the game more or less performs very well otherwise. On console though, the game just runs like complete crap. Frame rates are awful. Stability is awful. It feels like they don't even try to make it work.

Nope, It absolutely doesn't run " well " on PC. You can make the same exact Doom Eternal comparison on PC. My PC isn't that great but it can run many amazing looking games at 60fps with zero issues however it cannot run DBD at a constant 60fps on ultra or sometimes even on high settings. It's not a problem for me only because I choose to play on low settings. The momentary freeze when you get hit with sloppy butcher or NOED happens to me on PC as well, it's just not nearly as bad as the console versions.

  • Honestly, cleansing the totems you see usually ends up hurting you in the end. It's best to cleanse all of them or just not touch them at all and cleansing all of them by yourself can cost you the match (especially if you aren't using perks to find them faster).

I only cleanse the ones I see if my teammates actually care about cleansing them (and they usually don't), if not I just cleanse the well hidden totems if I come across any and leave the rest.

  • Sorry but this doesn't prove anything. It's just one match against an obvious new player.

If I posted a video killing new survivors in minutes with no perks, everyone would say the same thing I just said (with good reason of course) but when the roles are switched people agree for some reason. What a joke.

1 … 4 5 6 7 8 … 35
