Because giving easy and strong intel at base-kit is a great idea for game health...
...c'mon, love. If you want solid intel, put the perk on. Everyone knows survivors do not need perks to play well. This would just make killers gameplay feel harsh - knowing that everyone is always seeing the direction they head in post-hook and also seeing where everyone is, making timing saves insanely easy.
Its to close the gap between swf and solo survivors. The faster the devs do that, the more effectively this game and its killers can be balanced around swf.
-
Yes please, no moaning in particular is needed. I think 3 seconds speed boost would be enough, though i guess 5 seconds would be good too.
-
I really agree with this. DS just feels like a must because of killers that tunnel. If camping and tunneling was somehow nerfed, perks like DS and Borrowed Time would feel less needed.
And there are many perks that really need some buffing as well. I wouldn't mind if meta perks got nerfed just a tiny bit, but I think it's more important to also buff more of the weak perks.
-
Terrible comparison. Myers is balanced around the fact that he has his Tier 3 power. NOED is just an added insta down effect during end game, no matter the killer and their power.
You can't look at an effect of a single perk and then compare it to a killers power. Those are two very different things.
-
I never really have an issue with medium vault hitboxes. After you vault you are still right at the window so the killer can of course still hit you. Only once you gain a bit of distance you shouldn't be able to get hit anymore. And that's honestly how medium vaults work for me most of the times. But admittedly servers occasionally grants the killer a bs hit, that's for sure.

I guess I get screwed by matchmaking cause the killers I go against don't need an extra phase. They do their job quick.
Pretty much everyone gets screwed over by matchmaking. But personally I still do get my fair share of teams that are actually really good and know how to do gens. But yeah, if survivors are all really good, they can be very fast on gens. Though I do still think that killers are now in a fairly good spot already. Which is why in my opinion the devs really need to watch out with that early game phase or people won't want to play survivor anymore.
-
I haven‘t noticed it getting any worse over the past years myself. I do get the occasional bs hit as well, but im pretty sure that‘s due to connection issues.
However, if a killer hits a survivor while they are dropping a pallet, it might also be that the survivor simply dropped the pallet so late. Since there is an Animation, it is possible for you to drop a pallet and still get hit. Same goes for Windows. Killers have arms so they can actually reach through windows. Sometimes connection can screw you over, but if you get hit while you are still right at the window, that‘s completely fair. It really depends on how far you are away from the window and how close the killer is when he lunges.
-
The worst hackers are those that try to do it without being obvious about it. Sometimes I fear that the matches where people get gen rushed particularly hard might have had a cheater that simply had a not too noticeable boost in repair speed that still made quite a difference. I had one match where I feared that was the case, but it's honestly not possible to tell.
I went against a survivor once, that in key moments were able to run just as fast as me with a 115% killer, which was Leatherface. Once when I used my chainsaw, she was barely slower than I moved even though Leatherface's chainsaw is much faster than running survivors. I mentioned it to the person in the after game chat but they just replied with "Are you kidding", which seemed like they didn't know what I was talking about. I'm still quite positive they were cheating but I guess there might have been the possibility that it was just lag, she just never teleported like you would expect from someone lagging.
That match also had gens going ridiculously fast, so I assume that person also had a repair speed hack. It's real sad though that some people need to cheat in order to win matches, and then actually feel good about it, instead of getting better at the game.
-
I think many would tell you DS, Unbreakable, then an exhaustion perk, and then maybe Borrowed Time or maybe even Soul Guard. There isn't just one strongest build though in my opinion.
-
I actually hate 360s because I catched up to survivors by playing killer properly and now I have to try and still simply get a hit against a survivor that is spinning around me, which sometimes just feels janky and survivors seem to almost disappear into my killer. However, a good killer can't really be 360'd so in the end I can't really say it's a problem or want it to be removed, as it really isn't a balance problem in any way. I wouldn't cry if it got removed though.
-
That really is a bit disappointing, but they might still be able to improve the system. I'm hopeful.

@BabyDweetMain said:
If that's gonna be a thing, they better add another stage to the hook cause in red ranks, there are too many games where we just barely scrape by with everyones next hook being their death hook.
Actually, if they add another hook state that would result in killers having to hook survivors 16 times instead of 4 times, so the early game phase wouldn't really end up changing anything. The problem many people have is that they feel like killers just don't have enough time in able to hook survivors the required amount of times when going against an optimal survivor team. Which is why the early game phase is supposed to give killers a bit more time to actually have a fair chance of winning, since gens can be repaired so fast.
Now whether you agree with that or not depends of course, I only partially agree with this, but that's just the point of the early game phase, or at least people hope that that's the point of the early game phase.

They nerfed something into the ground because it needed a touch up, I would compare it to needing to move the pillow on your bed to make it look nicer to instead light it on fire and burn the house down with it
Hillbilly had 1-2 things that needed to be addressed so of course they fixed it, then also made him completely unfun to play along with it
You can‘t actually believe that Billy was nerfed to the ground because of the new overheat mechanic?

I had an idea a few minutes ago, which came to my mind after reading a comment. This is not thought-through and it would affect Solos more than SWF, so its probably a bad idea:
Survivors Repair Speed is reduced as long as they have not met another Survivor. For each "Reunited" Score Event, the Repair Speed increases (but it goes back to normal after a fixed period of time). So its not like that the Killer will have bad RNG when all Survivors spawn apart form each other and good RNG when they spawn together.
Also, this would make the Shrouds worth using, currently the Killer Shroud is bad for the Killer and the Survivor Shrouds are bad for the Survivor. But with my idea in mind, the Killer could get a Slowdown at the start of the game by using their shroud (even though it would need to be a higher rarity then) or Survivors can get rid of their Slowdown.
Slowdown should be minor of course, not something like 50% Repair Speed or similar nonsense.
Sounds like a good idea actually, but the one problem I see is that this would be harsher on solo survivors than on swf survivors, since they have generally an easier time finding each other.

Hatches need to be removed from the game with keys, earn your wins. Moris are fine and already come with a steep BP penalty for use. Deer Hunter and Whispers should be killer base kit.

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic not. Because you can't actually believe that not only keys, but hatch in general needs to go, yet Moris are fine and should stay? Especially when you say that survivors should earn their wins, yet killers using Moris do anything but that.

If you really believe that's all there is to it I really have to think you are purposely choosing to not understand to support your point.
That‘s sadly a very common thing, not only on these forums.
-
I'm not going to completely disagree that gens go too fast, the devs still has many ways to further improve the health of the game's balance, but I just don't see how it's so bad anymore.
I do agree that killer mistakes are more punishing than a survivor mistake, and that killer at a high level of play is more stressful and probably also harder than survivor, and at the highest level of play the survivors have a much greater chance of winning. But it's also not nearly as bad as many people make it out to be. It also makes sense that mistakes on the killers side are more punishing than survivors, since there is only one killer but four survivors.
Saying that the devs are still just balancing the game around rank 10-15s is just not fair. The game's balance has continuously been improving over the past months and years, and most noticeably were the changes to maps that favored killers and made survivor more challenging.
-
I would hope for some other objective to make things more interesting instead of just slowing gens down, but who knows. I just hope they keep in mind all the other balance changes that would be needed alongside an early game Phase.

There are like 17 different killers in the game. Perhaps the person didn't rank up with Spirit. I'm rank 1 and I completely suck with Nurse.

They're downing the people and hooking them. It's not their fault if they didn't realize this garbage was still happening. This is not entitlement on my part. It's the killer taking advantage of an exploit, a reportable offense. Look it up. Please don't sit here and accuse the person trying to make it known that this is reportable and people should help out instead of going for an easy down. You're part of the problem.
What are they supposed to do?
-
I certainly do not agree with people that say Spirit takes no skill, i do think it‘s not that easy to Master her, but she definitely takes way less skill than nurse, that‘s for sure. What i personally dislike About Spirit is her luck based counterplay, when playing against her its more just guessing, skill doesn‘t really affect the counterplay in a chase against her. And when injured you don‘t really have any counterplay at all. At least when the game‘s sound works.
-
All the perks and killers that use the exposed status effect are balanced around that though. It just makes the exposed survivors more vulnerable for some time. Honestly when looking at all killers and all perks, I really don't feel like the Exposed status effect is overused in any way.
I myself never had a problem with the exposed status effect as a survivor.

Killers can literally end chases in like 15 seconds cause there's a big ol field of nothing at 2 sides of the map
Dude, if every survivor goes down in like 15 seconds on that map, it‘s because the survivors are bad. That map actually has a lot of fair loops that allow for counterplay on both sides.
-
@MeatBycicle said:
Thats the thing, survivors expect to be able to 1v1 every single killer otherwise the killer is "boring" to play against.
No they don‘t. At least most survivors simply want fair counterplay to at least affect chases a bit.
-
This Video has been posted here before. Yes there‘s definitely an Argument for gens going a bit too fast at the highest Level of play, but tru3 didn‘t play perfectly either, and pyramid head doesn‘t have much map pressure to begin with.
Again gen time is not perfect, and i would argue this is the first tru3 Video i‘ve ever seen that makes an argument for that. But there are other issues that would need to be tackled in Addition or even before the objective time of survivors is increased. Or we‘ll end up with long killer Queues. Plus there are killers that can deal with the fast gen Times.

The thing that makes laugh the most is the challenge win a trial with 5 gens still remaining. This challenge is full on impossible as by time you find a survivor and they use there pathetic loops at least 2 gens have popped. It's unbelievable this game. Friday the 13th although buggy at least you have equal chance on both sides to come out on top. Dbd it's always gonna be a survivor win. Because:
- Ruin is destroyed (bring the last ruin back as that actually prevented gen rush)
- Pallet loops exist too much
- Flashlights exist too much
- Tool boxes exist and although nerfed can still repair gens effectively
- Adrenaline exists
- Keys exist
If you find pallet loops on most maps too much, then I think you just need to try and improve more with killers to counter loops or at least get pallets dropped as fast as possible. There are definitely still some maps with far too many safe pallets, but in general maps have gotten much fairer when it comes to loops and tile distribution.
Also flash lights aren't too powerful anymore, they can be good for flashlight saves but killers have more than enough counterplay against those saves. Toolboxes also aren't a problem anymore and Adrenaline means the survivor only played the match with three perks up until Adrenaline procs.

That's because Trapper wastes time setting traps and not applying pressure to gens. Plus Trapper kinda sucks in general.

if gen speeds aren't a problem, why can they be done in under 4 minutes even when the killer doesn't make a mistake?
Edit: I should clarify, gens can be done in under 3 minutes, I was just assuming decent, uncoordinated solo que players.
Gens can not be done within like 3 or 4 minutes if the Person playing killer is actually good with the killer and knows what he‘s doing. Except maybe clown but when we start balancing this game around the worst killers in the game then things will get bad real Quick.
I‘m not saying that nothing should be done to give killers a bit more time and make the experience less stressful, plus i do think at the highest Level of play gen Times can be seen as a bit of a Problem, but that would take many more Balance changes as some killers are already very good, giving them more time would possibly make them op. And of Course solo survivors would also need some help if the survivors objective time would be increased.
-
Personally his stealth potential is not a problem to me. I just wish he had a bit more skill based counterplay in chases, because against a quick scoping Deathslinger there isn't much you can do right now to affect the chase in any way.
-
@CrowVortex said:
Never made sense why they could just repair gens with just their hands alone. So perhaps finding additional parts to repair the gen, in stages. For instance repair a gen to 35%, but you now need to find additional parts to fully repair. To compensate, once a gen reaches a certain threshold it can no longer be regressed past that point.
Honestly that sounds like something that would hurt solo survivors more than swf survivors. The devs really need to make sure the early game phase in no way is worse for solo survivors than for swf survivors.

Yess i would love to be ######### with 50% gen speed with my solo queue red rank teammates that die after 20 second loop, so much fun
To be fair, that's more of a matchmaking problem than a balance problem. But it is true that they should get matchmaking to work properly before adding an early game phase. Plus of course closing the balance gap between solo and swf survivors.
-
Even though I am all for making killer gameplay less stressful, I fear if they add it next mid chapter, it will come without the multiple other balance changes to lessen the frustrations that survivors have, which would lead to long killer queue times. So I really hope they only add that when they also have found ways to close the gap between solo and swf survivors, and maybe make camping and tunneling less effective.
Not to mention the top tier killers that will end up overpowered with the new early game phase.

Still feels really weak to me. The Undetectable needs to be like 30 seconds imo. Currently feels just too short.
30 seconds is a bit much I feel, especially for killers that have insta down potential, 16 seconds is more than enough time to sneak up on survivors working on the gen that is almost complete.
-
i agree the game is quite balanced at the moment. I do understand why many killer players want the game to become less stressful though, since time is always against them. However, if the trial warm up does eventually arrive, I can only pray it comes with some changes that favor survivors, especially solo survivors, as well, or we'll be suffering through long killer queue times again.

Rank 1 killers Sweat Sweat Sweat Sweat and only play one of 3 killers to make a single mistake and lose anyway.
TLDR survivors complaining about killers are on the really low and boosted end of the spectrum while killers complaining about survivors are at the high end of the spectrum going against people that understand the mechanics of the game and use every advantage available.
Interesting where did you get those facts?
-
What you have to do is pick a door where you think the survivor will be, go there, go away, but head back long before getting to other door and hope the survivor started opening the door, thinking he/she would have enough time to open the door before the killer returns.
-
Lol that bug fix doesn't make the perk useless at all. That's kind of an overreaction. Plus I'm pretty sure that was never intended, so that was indeed a bug fix.
-
Hex Undying is way too strong to be base kit. Hex perks are simply put high risk, high reward. There's nothing that needs to be fixed except maybe a few particularly bad totem placements. Hex: Undying makes them much less risky to use and makes them last much longer on average, that's worth a perk slot in my book. Especially the ruin and surveillance combo
-
I love the new killer. His gameplay is really unique and the killer seems quite strong while still giving survivors a fair amount of counterplay in chases. I also don't really find his perks to be op either. I also think both the killer and the survivors counterplay to him have a high skill ceiling, which I'm glad about.
-
If the devs add this new trial warm up to give killers more time and have a less stressful experience, which of course would be nice, but without adressing the main issues of survivors like tunneling and camping, this game will have a serious killer queue time problem again, which is why I am already concerned.
I don't understand how some people think the devs must address gen rush, but camping and tunneling is completely fine.

I really don't care, I have wondered why but I do think it is to provide more opportunity for The Killer to locate you. It's also why we make so much noise rummaging through an empty chest with a blanket on the bottom and why we slam the chest shut after we already opened it! The perk was a joke.
Ok, then I apologize for misjudging.

It's just to make things even easier for The Killer to find you. And also a great excuse for them to create a useless perk to address it. "Silent Sanitizer: cleanse totems without making any noise, successfully cleansing a totem results in you becoming te Obsession, your Aura is revealed to The Killer for 60s and you suffer from the Exposed Status Effect." OT but has totem cleansing animation changes?
You seem a little too butthurt over the fact that survivors make noises while cleansing totems.

I never understood this. A killer can end games faster than a survivor can do gens. Does that make meta perks for survivors fine?
Edit: Forgot to add the word "perk"
Yes i think that the meta perks for survivors are fine. Also survivors are more in control over not getting down too fast, than killer are in control of not letting the gens be repaired so fast.
-
2+ slowdown perks are definitely fine, seeing as how fast gens can be repaired.

Not really though. Just because you don't like going against certain killers doesn't mean others don't. And if you dc you juat ruin the match for everyone else. Many hate going against Doc for example, while he is one of my favorite killers to go against.
-
The game certainly doesn't cater more to killers than survivors. Killers have been getting more buffs than survivors in the past, but that's only because the game has been survivor sided for multiple years. Many people argue that the game is still survivor sided, though I personally don't fully agree with that myself. Fact is, the devs are just trying to make this game as balanced as possible, they don't favor either side.
Also, when it comes to the new perks, you always have to ask yourself if these new perks are better than the best perks that we already have. Dragon's Grip and Hex: Undying are certainly great perks, which is a nice surprise, but I don't think they are even better than the top tier killer perks that we already have, like Pop, Bbq, Infectious Fright or Nurses Calling. Though maybe Hex: Undying might need a small nerf admittedly, not sure on that one.
-
Couldn't agree more. The problem I see is that there are four Bloodpoint categories, and each have a 8000 BP cap. For killer it's not that bad because they can fulfill the role of all four categories, but as a survivor you don't always have a choice to gain BP in all four categories. If they increased the category cap to 16000 yet of course still kept the overall cap at 32k, that would be optimal.
