Because you are looking at this in a vacuum. Other than blatantly abused and outright bs things what nerfs have survivors had in the last few years compared to killers?
In the last few years there haven't been too many significant changes. I remember the healing nerf, which was very good, but that's like 3 years ago now?
Survivors have received nerfs in the past, not only to completely broken stuff. Toolboxes were nerfed, though the strong ones were arguably pretty broken, to be fair. The weaker ones not so much.
DS received a second nerf. Maps have also received updates that almost always favored killer, although maps are still one of the biggest problems in this game, a lot of them still being survivor sided with the current gen times.
Killers have also recieved buffs over the past. And yes, a few also recieved some nerfs, but never huge nerfs. If you want to argue that something like DS was broken, then you can very easily make that arugment towards Spirit and even Deathslinger as well, as their counterplay was extremely small. Or in Spirit's case just completely luck based.

They're still not even close to evening the playing field. Survivors have the advantage by far.
I disagree. I do think that at the highest level of play, the game is still somewhat survivor sided, yes. But it's not that bad anymore, and in the last few years killers have been getting generally good changes that favor them.

In that case you proved you are a baby survivor main, thank you and goodbye
Wow what a good counter argument. I'm a killer main, but of course to someone like you, anyone who has a differing opinion that isn't as killer favorable has to be a baby survivor main.
This game would very likely be dead if the devs only listened to people like you. But luckily, they don't.

I posted both quotes look at the original post🙄.
Once again this is a discussion about boon totems...quit posting here if you dont want to talk about the topic.
My posts have emojis if you dont want to read them. And people can have opinions on topics about something they used to play. I have never met you and my opinion is you are bullying my posts 🙁.
Whether I come back after this patch isnt relevant to the conversation🤔
So if you want to talk about the topic welcome if not please dont post because I am going to ignore you. Be blessed I know there is good in you😇
How about next time you then actually word your post to make it look like you actually want a discussion? I love how you constantly seem to try and crap on BHVR and when people then expose that, you play the victim card.
"Boon totems:survivors need another objective we hear you killers But survivors are our business model🤑so here is something for killers to worry about😇"
This obviously only makes it look like you are trying to push this idea that the devs only care for survivors. This has nothing to do with an actual discussion.

3 Blinks means...
- 18 second recharge for all 3 Blinks (50% rate)
- Recovery add-ons are useless in combination (-0.6s & -0.9s = -1.5s recharge)
This is very interesting... I am intrigued...
Wait, why 18 seconds? One blink takes 2 seconds to recharge, and 50% of that is one second. So I would assume a blink will now take 3 seconds to recharge, so all 3 would take 9 seconds in total.
-
IN that case you are proving that you are bad at the game as well.
Spirit doesn't have mindgames. As a survivor, as soon as she starts phasing, you just make a complete guess on where she will reappear, and that's it. Nothing else. Now survivors have at least a bit of information to work with, which Spirit has too.
Deathslinger has barely any counterplay at all. You just pray that the Deathslinger player misses his shots. I do think that he could need some other form of buff to compensate for the nerfs, but these nerfs to him are still good.

He is actually just a weaker version of huntress now. Wind up time CD time and a large TR with absolutely no buffs to composite. Tell me the balance lead isn't a survivor main, tell me that with a serious face. Nefing a mid tier killer what the ######### BHVR.
Why would they be a survivor main? Trapper and Plague get a buff, and keys were nerfed into the ground. How does one conclude from this update that the balance lead is a survivor main?

Are you telling me they won’t complain ? I see more complaints from killers about the most stupid things compared to surviours… and let’s be real you didn’t 3 gen the surviours they did it to themselves from not paying attention to locations or the maps spawning 3 gens ontop of each other . So it’s the map rng that comes into play here and people not being aware
On these forums yes, but in general both sides have people that complain about the most ridiculous stuff.
-
Dear lord, insane how people still think BHVR only cares for one side.
And because BHVR is so survivor sided, they buffed Trapper and Plague, right? And that's also why they nerfed keys into the ground, right?
Not to mention all the other good changes that killers have gotten in the past.
-
I agree, this update looks very promising.
The only thing I am a bit disappointed about is that there aren't more meaningful perk buffs, particularly on the killer side, in my opinion. I was so hoping for Surge to lose the basic attack condition, seeing as many other perks are losing it as well.
That and I really want the AI of Nemesis Zombies to be fixed and perhaps improved. His map pressure is the only thing still lacking with him.

I think as a killer main, who really hate keys and tunneled everyone who bring a key to the lobby this is a bad "solution". Especially with the hatch part. Now hatchgame at the end will be pure luck. So the killer no matter how good can loose the 4th survivor. And trust me, this will just make killers to slug and sweat at the end. It will be not funny for the survivors.
Wait, as far as I can tell, nothing will even really change with the hatch endgame? Or am I missing something? Killers that want the 4k so bad are already slugging for that 4K anyways.

He has a 20 meter shot range.
If he wants to get a chance with survivors he needs to be able to get close.
Huntress doesn't have that, nor do Trickster. They both outclass him right now. ######### Trickster.
I seriously doubt Trickster will outclass Deathslinger. At longer ranges, Trickster is also not good, because survivors can very easily dodge and break line of sight at further ranges. Preventing him from actually hitting 6 blades.
Deathslinger also still just needs to hit one shot, as opposed to Trickster.
And regarding another post of yours, it certainly wasn't just a "handful" of people not enjoying going against him. In the live build he has so little actual counterplay, in many cases you just have to pray that he misses his shots when going against him.

Huntress is 32 lullaby and 20 terror. She can also down you over every pallet as well as some lower loops. He cant do that, he gets an injure and suffers a stun penalty. He has no positive over huntress now in any category
Huntress Lullaby is actually 45 meters.
I am also going to guess that Slinger will still need less time to aim and then be able to shoot his chain than Huntress can charge and then throw her hatchet. There is always a bit of windup time with her. Huntress hatchet speed is also as fast as deathlinger's chain, but only when fully charged, so to have the same projectile speed, she has to charge for much longer than Slinger.
And his movement speed should also be higher while aiming down sites as opposed to huntress holding one of her hatchets.
Deathslinger can also inflict the Deep Wound status effect, which can waste a bit of time from survivors. This last one isn't very impactful though.

Those got released over 4 years ago. So my hope is not really high to get actual good Perks.
Yeah no my point is just, those perks don't need to get activated by performing some action, so I am hopeful that the devs will make these boon perks strong enough to warrant a perk slot.
But we'll have to see. New perks in general have the tendency to be underwhelming power wise. The Resident Evil chapter had a few good survivor perks, and Pinhead came with two decent perks and one very good perk, so I am still hopeful.
-

Simple, she can't see, and the survivors can now see her, so she will be swinging blind literally while the survivor knows where she is via sound and dust, pallet rollback has also greatly increased pallet safety
Yeah, she is also much much faster in her spirit form, so even if survivors could actually see her all the time when they have line of sight, reacting to her will still not be possible often enough.
The question is how visible the dust will be. It has been stated that you will have trouble seeing it when she moves through grass and such. Spirit has scratchmarks and sound that she can work with as well.
If the dust is too visible, then I agree, that would be a problem. We'll see, they said that this change might not happen anyways now if the directional sound proves to be enough for fairer counterplay.

Since survivors have to "build up" the boon totems, they will be strong. You´ll see.
I hope they will have strong effects. Otherwise there would be no reason to use them. But probably not as strong as the effects of Hex perks, that was what I meant.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2523256#Comment_2523256
This is correct.
But this just increases my suspicion that the Perks will be really mediocre at best. Because the argument for Hex-Perks "They can be strong because they can be removed" cannot be used anymore for Boon-Perks, which speaks against strong Perks.
I mean perks like dead Hard or Borrowed Time exist.
I am still optimistic that these perks will be strong enough. But of course they can't be as effective as hex perks because they can be reactivated.
-
@Tsulan said:
So killers have high risk, high "reward" perks and survivors low risk, high reward perks.
Makes sense
/not
We don't even know the "reward" yet. I'm guessing the effects won't be as strong as with Hex perks.
Also, survivors blessing totems multiple times will surely consume a bit of time as well, acting as a small second objective.
It all depends on how strong the perk effects will be. They can definitely balance these perks properly. Hex perks, at least the strong ones, are balanced around the idea that they can be removed from the match completely. Boon perks will need to be balanced around the fact that killers have to find these totems, and around the fact that they can be reactivated.

I hope it's as fast as kicking a hatch closed. Same animation too probably.
You mean on the killers side? That I hope so too, because killers certainly don't need a time consuming second objective, but here I was talking about the survivor blessing the totem.
-
It all depends on the effects of the Boon perk, whether the killer will pretty much have to go out of their way to snuff it out. If you can still play killer well despite it being active, than it won't be such a problem.
We'll have to see, I do hope that it takes a bit longer to bless a totem than it takes to cleanse a totem.

Sorry that you can’t understand simple logic, it’s really easy to explain, killer got slow animations , got to hit the survivor multiple times and hook them 3 times just for one person to die. Way to many chances for survivors to camp pallets and run away and waste time( if you have a brain which I doubt), meanwhile 3 survivor constantly working on gen safe and sound. No matter what the killer do at least 2 gens is being rushed. Gens are just easy to do as survivor you got 3rd person pov and terror radius and red stain just hide and wait and get back on the gen lol, spine chill if you really wanna turn your brain off.
You didn't even respond to the actual topic, that a survivor is afk if he gets hooked. Hello? If you lose a match in 2,5 minutes, then as a killer you must have done absolutely nothing. That's definitely not the case when a survivor gets hooked, because if you are good with killer, than you can indeed down survivors. Even when they are playing the game.
So I love how you tell me I can't understand simple logic and then don't even address what I was responding to. You seem like a mighty intelligent person there, damn.
Also, responding to your arguments here, first of all, I do understand that killer can be pretty stressful. And the game would surely profit from a second objective for survivors, although it would need many other balance changes alongside it. However, decreasing the hook counter from 3 to 2 would be absolutely terrible. There is a reason why old moris were so hated.
Nevertheless, what you wrote here just isn't true. First of all, applying map pressure is a thing, if 3 survivors are constantly working on generators "safe and sound" you are probably not playing killer in the most effective way. There are exceptions to this though.
Also, everytime a survivor is hooked, the rest of the survivor team has another objective. So there is at least one survivor going for the unhook and one survivor on the hook, while you are chasing the next survivor away from a gen. In that period, only one survivor max is working on a generator.
Survivors also can't just camp pallets and prevent killers from downing them. Good killer players can definitely down survivors fast enough, at least when playing killers that have an ability that helps them in chases. Which is the majority of killers.
Also, the game is balanced around survivor having third person, meanwhile the red stain just adds a bit more skill to playing killer, being able to mindgame with it. This doesn't make survivor easy if the killer is good.
-
Dear god this is so sad.
-
Oh god what on earth?
Believe it or not, but both killer mains and survivors mains should have their opinons heard.
If Spirit is still too strong, then they'll still add this nerf to her, but I for one also believe that directional sound is probably all she needs.
It's also honestly insane to me how on the same forum there seem to be people that believe BHVR only cares about killers, and people that believe BHVR only cares about survivors.
-
I think the terror radius nerf was unnecessary, but the other nerfs definitely were in my opinion. He was arguably the most oppressive killer in chases.

That was a typo, there is a PTB this week. I've gone ahead and updated the post.
Are the perk updates mentioned all of them, or are there a few more not mentioned? I was really hoping Surge would also have its basic attack condition be removed.
-
I swear if people complain about BHVR only caring for survivors again because of the Deathslinger nerf, then I don't know what to say anymore.
Although the terror radius increase was probably unnecessary. Also disappointed with the rest of the perk updates, I was at least hoping for Surge to finally have it's basic attack condition removed.

Sounds like a player adapting his strategy to the circumstances.
Exactly. They probably played bad and ######### up numerous times and therefore then resorted to camping. Which is another problem of camping.
Obviously sometimes it's also a product of terrible killer or map balancing, so nerfing that in the state in which this game is at the moment probably wouldn't be the smartest.
-
@indieeden7 said:
Tbh a boon totem that actively punishes camping would be a really cool idea, e.g. while the totem is blessed, if the killer is within x meters of a hooked survivor, the entity progression bar is slowed by 50%.
That's a fair point, but I wish the devs would kind of add this type of nerf to camping into the base game at some point.
-
These perks sound really overpowered to be honest. Especially Devour Hope.
The risk of using these perks is too low with these reworks compared to their strong effects. And Devour Hope would allow you to instantly down and mori a survivor at the beginning of a match if no other survivor was able to cleanse a totem in time. Unless I am missing something here?
-
It will definitely depend on their implementation. If they are so strong that the killer is pretty much forced to go search the boon totems, than these perks will become a problem. If they aren't strong enough, nobody will run those perks though, because perks like Dead Hard already exist.
I'm curious but also worried. I am still hoping that we will soon see the changes to Moris, which sounds like it could have a second objective for survivors. With insane luck we could even hear about it in the second part of the dev update on monday, but I doubt it. But what I am fearful of is that adding a second objective could easily break the game, as it would require many other balance changes to go along it.
We'll just have to wait and see. Perhaps blessing a totem takes like 30 seconds, that would kind of be a second objective for survivors as well.
-

And if a killer hook a survivor clearly the survivor is afk, how about you play me in a custom if you think killer is ez mode
What on earth are you on about? That doesn't even make sense, how is hooking a survivor comparable to a killer letting all 5 gens be done within 2,5 minutes? Hello?
-
Posting one image of you working on a totem and two survivors being on hooks isn't proof of anything.
This game is not killer sided, never was. It's in a much better spot now, but arguably still a bit survivor sided at the highest level of play, because killers have so little room for error, many maps are still survivor sided, and killers have to play against a strict clock if survivors know how to do gens effectively.
You just suck at the game, there is no other explanaiton to me for why you constantly post this crap.
Edit: Not to mention your playing on the map with an abundance of safe pallets. If you people go down so fast on that map, that's all on you.

Do you create one of these threads every day?

lotifier? I don't quite understand your comment.
I doubt this will remove her though, it just gives her some actual, interesting counterplay. If she'll need some small buff to compensate for, maybe the devs could decrease the cooldown of her power.

OKey,what you say~
I think normal m1 killer adverage 1 min catch one survivor.
THe average M1 killer like Trapper or Myers are low tier for a reason.
Good killers in this game can down survivors faster than in 1 minute, on average that is. And they have tools to apply map pressure, sometimes you also want to spread the damage instead of only chasing the first survivor you find.
-
I hope the dust she kicks off isn't very noticeable and easy to spot. Otherwise I am very happy with these changes.
Also, the stand still mindgame was not a mindgame. You just stood there as Spirit waiting for the survivor to vault or run to you.
Phasing, and then reappearing at the exact same spot you started phasing, that could be seen as a mindgame, because now both Spirit and the survivor are guessing. But just standing still as Spirit is not a mindgame.

SWF finish gen in 3 min.
This nurse didn't AFK.
I don't think we should be balancing this game around survivor teams all using the best possible toolboxes and toolbox addons.
Also, and I can't stress this enough, this Nurse didn't get a hook until 2 minutes and 30 seconds into the match. Yes she wasn't afk, she did apply a tiny bit of map pressure, but that's it
So everyone running best toolbox combinations in the game, and a Nurse that doesn't get a hook until 2 minutes and 30 seconds are over. This video just supports my point to be honest.
-
Since they are now giving survivors more information on where Spirit is while phasing, she definitely shouldn't lose the ability to hear survivors.
Giving survivors more counterplay as opposed to taking away counterplay on Spirit's side was definitely the right decision by BHVR in my opinion.

Because those times survivors were truly playable with zero skill, unlike now, and there is people like OP asking for more which no, is not needed
To be fair, at the highest level of play, the game is arguably still a bit survivor sided. But it's not even comparable to how it used to be.
And adding a second objective to the game without other changes to compensate survivors would probably not end well either.

If you're right then you're right.
But just know that the same thing was said about Wraith before his buffs.
True, but the only common complaint I see regarding Wraith is his All seeing addon, which is fair enough. That addon was balanced before his buff, but now with his new, high movement speed, it's arguably busted.
Now that I think about it though, some people could perhaps think stacking his two red addons while being able to carry two traps is a bit too strong.
