  • This is definitely a skill issue. The game is in no way survivor sided at the moment. Even against good swf teams you have a chance to win as killer, now after the patch especially.

Camping and tunneling are a big problem. Why do you think killer queue times are on average much longer than survivor queue times at the moment? Those strategies need to actually be nerfed properly. Killers can do better now by playing fair and skillful, there is no need for such cheap tactics.

Some maps are still survivor sided, but with the general buffs that killers received, this has shifted towards the killer side now. Maps that used to be a bit survivor sided are now arguably perfectly balanced. And we surely have some killer sided maps now, esepcially Dead Dawg Saloon.

The last thing the devs want to do now is add even more balance changes that favor killer and make them even stronger. At some point you are just going to play waiting lobby simulator.

It's survivors time to get some help now. Camping and tunneling need to be nerfed, and the remaining slowdown perks that are too strong at the moment need some nerfs as well.

Legion when every one is injured is a basic attack killer.

But then the survivors are all 1-shot. So it's not like an M1 killer with no power.

Either survivors heal, and Legion uses his power to get them injured very easily again. Or they don't, and are constantly one shot. Plus you can still use your power on injured survivors to force them to mend again, and for information on where other survivors are.

  • Survivors will surely need some compensation buffs. Camping and tunneling are now just too effective, seeing as how killers got nice buffs that make their fair skillful gameplay more viable.

But 28 games in a row kind of seems like you seriously got screwed over by matchmaking. Or you still have a lot to improve.

I do think that survivor right now can be problematic. But I definitely still have escaped some of my matches. Never even had nearly as much of a losing streak as that. And I am no survivor pro or anything like that.

  • @Seanzu said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3086871#Comment_3086871

Yep what Josh said, talking about loading screen time after an entire lobby has readied into the match

Yeah sorry lol that's my mistake.

I didn't notice anything regarding loading times, but to be fair I didn't pay any attention to that.

  • The new window tiles are great in my opinion. Always happy to see such new loops.

The problem you seem to have is an issue of suffocation pit, because it can spawn a bunch of tiles in the middle, that sometimes connect to efficiently.

But the new window tile is actually very balanced in my opinion.

  • Survivor or killer? Because it makes sense for survivor. The lack of compensation buffs for survivors surely has made some survivor players quit, and some others to play less frequently. And/or switch to killer.

For killer, I have already experienced longer queue times. And I believe they will further increase until Bhvr addresses camping and tunneling, and/or solo survivor buffs. And of course slowdown perks that are currently problematic.

I definitely have much less intention to play survivor at the moment. Been playing quite a bit of Vhs, that game is really fun, except for the long teen queues.

  • @Tactrix said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3075864#Comment_3075864

I agree. And the people who don't quit will just play a lot less, that's one of those changes that people don't talk about very often, but it's actually a much worse one. Because like I've played enough to where I won't quit, but you won't see me putting in like even an hour a day in this game anymore. Because it's just not worth it. When the ratio of aggravation is so much higher than fun, it's not worth investing any real time in anymore.

    Yes true.

It's already starting to show. Even during the evening, where killer queue times used to be faster, they are now longer than survivor queue times.

Who knows, maybe there will still be many people that will continue to play survivor like normal. I know some people still enjoy solo queue. And swf anyways. But yeah, I am definitely expecting killer queue times to increase noticeably within the next weeks. And then the devs will hopefully realise that they have to buff weak points for survivors, nerfs against camping and tunneling will hopefully come at first.

And then nerf certain slowdown perks on the killers side.

  • While I feel like deinstalling after just a day or two can definitely be seen as exaggerated, honestly I can't blame anyone for not playing survivor after the patch, or at least playing much less. Killers getting a bunch of buffs but survivors nothing against tunneling and camping is very frustrating.

And it might be for the better. Killer queue times will just further increase, and then maybe the devs will realise that they actually need to nerf camping and tunneling as well.

  • I just saw the skins, Set A 100% has to win. That Dredge skin looks to good.

the thing I've seen with pallets is that I've been dropping them behind me but end up on the same side of the killer... Don't know if it's a bug or what. Happened to you?

What? That sounds horrible? So like you teleport to the other side of the pallet after dropping? Because I haven't had any such issues with pallets yet.

That is 100% a bug or some crazy lag from the sound of it.

  • @Marigoria said:

A single gen taking 164 seconds is not balanced sorry.

I mean, that's really not the norm. Still haven't had one match like that, and I have been playing survivor a lot.

Not that it's not a problem though, it is, but I for one haven't gone against it yet, not even once. And I am pretty sure that is not what the OP was referring to.

  • Not sure how bad it will become, but yes, I expect killer queue times to also become longer in the next weeks. I doubt that a huge amount of people will leave this game, but enough to definitely be noticeable.

They will 100% have to do something against tunneling and camping. There is no way around it.

  • @drakolyr said:

Killers will find either way DH still OP or get a reality check and its not because of dead hard they lost... just sayin.

I have no idea how. It's nerfed properly now. Only the most extreme killer mains would still complain about DH.

It got it's needed nerf, I have no idea how anyone could still complain about that perk.

  • @CyberRoninX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3074198#Comment_3074198

Definitely agree camping and tunneling are huge problems and they severely ruin the gaming experience.

Yes exactly. And now that killers got buffed, the devs have the perfect opportunity to nerf camping and tunneling. Properly. Not just 5 seconds of Endurance and Haste.

That's the really disappointing part of this patch. DH, the biggest chase extender, got nerfed, and killers received a bunch of nice, small buffs, that all together definitely make noticeable impact. They should have nerfed camping and tunneling as well.

And honestly, I think they will have to very soon. Because killer queue times have already increased this evening, and I am sure it will get continuously worse in the next days and weeks.

  • MMR is definitely a problem in DBD. No doubt. Though sometimes I also wonder if there are just too many survivor players that simply aren't very good in the game.

Personally, the only killer buff i think is bad is the buff to bloodlust. They should really revert that buff asap. The other buffs are good though in my opinion. The fact survivors can't gain as much distance after getting hit is very good. It's still enough distance to make it to some pallet or window, but it decreases the effectiveness of holding w. It helps M1 killers in particular, which is why I like these buffs so much. That's also why I like the buff that lets killers break pallets a bit quicker now.

The gen nerfs are also great. But I do agree that Thana is too much now. If anything, it should have been nerfed slightly, not buffed. Eruption was also overbuffed, and a few other slowdown perks will surely need some small nerfs as well, now that gen times have been increased. The idea of making killers less dependent on slowdown perks is great, but sadly, the devs didn't do enough to really get to the point where killers don't just stack multiple slowdown perks.

My problem is that survivors, especially solo survivors, didn't get any buffs in return in this patch. Tunneling and camping should have been nerfed properly, now that killers are buffed. But sadly the devs did almost nothing. They need to increase the hook phase duration to at least 70 seconds and remove hook grabs.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Because stealth is just so fun and engaging /s

That's very subjective though. Some people might enjoy being more stealthy. It's effective as long it wastes time from the killer.

  • I am happy to hear you are still enjoying solo queue, but I for one can also definitely understand why some people are very unhappy right now. The killer buffs are fantastic, but the lack of survivor buffs isn't. Solo survivors need some more information to work with, but more importantly, now that killers have gotten buffed, the devs should have taken that opportunity to also nerf camping and tunneling. There is no reason to address killers frustrations, but not survivors.

Right now I am expecting killer queue times to become longer with every day, and BHVR will need to help out survivors, especially solo survivors, in some way or form. And I think a good first step would be to actually nerf camping and tunneling in a noticeable way. And I also hope that they finally give solo survivors some more information they can work with.

  • I could not agree more with this. I still have been playing solo survivor, and I for one have been rather lucky with the killers I have faced until now it seems. Though I think the average kill rate in my matches has certainly been higher than 2 kills per match at the moment.

But yes, I completely agree that the big problem with this update is the lack of changes that help survivors. Mainly solo survivors that need more information, as well as nerfs to camping and tunneling. Camping and tunneling should have been nerfed in noticeable ways now that killers have received many nice buffs, and now that Dead Hard is nerfed.

Instead, tunneling is pretty much the same, and camping is even buffed. If the devs don't do something about this quickly, killer queue times will surely become pretty long.

I have been playing this evening, and while normally killer queue times are shorter in the evening, now they are longer than survivor queue times, even in the evening. Not a good sign.

  • @JibbyNeutron said:

I have been playing around 40 Killer matches since the new patch. Every Killer in rotation with average Addons and 1 slowdown perk. These Kids cant reach endgame at all. This is not even fun anymore, it feels like I play against bots.

And no, Im not low MMR. I was always 4king 80% of my matches before but I actually had to bring some meta, sweat and work for it.

Now I dont use meta, dont sweat and just chill while hearing to music.

If every match is easy than that is definitely matchmaking screwing around. Nothing new.

Killer surely isn't easy mode now, unless maybe you are playing with the strongest killers, and using tunneling and camping as tactics as well. Otherwise, good survivors will still give you a hard time.

Survivors definitely will need some buffs in the near future, but killer isn't easy mode just because of the buffs they received this patch.

I think survivor appears harder because they're back to having only 2 health states instead of 3 😁

Meh I don't think that is what people are complaining about. I have seen very few complaints about the DH nerf actually.

Today killer queue times have already been longer than survivor queue times even during the evening. Which is not a good sign.

Survivors will definitely need some buffs against camping and tunneling, and/or solo queue buffs by giving survivors more information they can work with. Until then I do believe killers will be enjoying fairly long queue times.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I hate the sheer amount of people claiming this patch will kill the game when it's only been 1 day.

It's obviously an exaggeration but I do think that we will see noticeably longer killer queue times in the coming days and weeks. And that will probably stay until survivors also receive some proper buffs to combat camping and tunneling much more effectively. And a few other buffs maybe as well. I have noticed that killers aren't only stronger now during the normal game, but it's also harder for survivors to escape the end game.

I have no idea why on earth survivors had to be nerfed in the end game as well for example. It's pretty ridiculous.

I only read posts on this forum, and majority of people who are announcing their departure, are survivors complaining about perk changes, I don’t think I’ve seen a single one about tunneling, gen speed yes.

People that complain about killer buffs often do this because survivor didn't get anything in return. These killer buffs wouldn't be a problem to many survivor players if survivors would have also gotten something proper, like some actual nerfs to camping and tunneling.

I have seen a lot of people complain about tunneling and camping. And rightfully so. It should have been addressed as well now that killers got a nice amount of buffs.

Also, Self Care and DS in particular were overnerfed like crazy. I think the Dead Hard nerf was fine, but I swear the amount of Dead Hard nerf complaints don't even compare to the complaints about the Self Care and DS nerfs, and those nerfs were completely unnecessary and stupid.

Certain slowdown perks will also still need some small nerfs in the future, I am pretty positive.

  • @Marigoria said:

What time do I need to adjust if my perk build before the patch was already kindred, bond, inner strength and lithe?

Because the issue is not the dead hard nerf, I'm fine with that.

The issue is everything else on the killer side got buffed and only thing survivors got to compensate was a useless 5 second bt.

This I fully agree with. The killer buffs are great, but survivors needed something in return. I so want them to add those survivor icons to help out solo survivors. And I want them to actually nerf camping and tunneling, and not actually buff camping.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Probably unpopular opinion, but this patch wasn't meant to cater to killers who were already good. They aren't the target audience here. If a killer couldn't win consistently before today with all the perks at their disposal, they had serious issues with their gameplay.

This patch was meant for the average killer who may have stopped playing killer because games got a bit more difficult after SBMM launched. They can go back to stacking forever builds and not really have to think about what they're doing to win.

And it certainly won't be fun for survivor players. We've already been down this road with Frank's Mixtake Legion and Forever Freddy. The absolute average killer can win the overwhelming majority of their games by virtue of making them take forever.

Good killers could not consistently win if they went against good survivor teams. Matchmaking surely helped them, no doubt, but that's much less an issue of balance.

This patch was definitely also made to help high level killers compete against high level survivor teams. That's generally where most killer complaints came from. Gens being done too fast and killers not having a fair chance if the survivor team was very good and efficient. Especially SWF survivor teams.

The problem with this patch is that survivors didn't get anything proper in return. No solo survivor buffs, no camping and tunneling nerfs.

And a few slowdown perks were overbuffed. Thana and Eruption didn't need the buffs they got. Eruption would have been fine just with the regression buff, and Thana shouldn't have been buffed at all.

Buffing killers is nerfing tunneling and camping imo. Those are pretty boring tactics and when i feel like i dont need them i dont use them at all.

I havent felt the need to camp or tunnel at all since the patch and i feel like im not the only one.

I am happy you feel that way, but there are still enough people that will resort to camping and tunneling, at the latest when they notice that the match isn't going to well for them. It doesn't matter in that case if they had a fair chance to win or not, and simply didn't play that well. If they feel like they are losing, they are going to resort to these cheap tactics.

Buffing killers is a good way to incentivise them to play fairer. That's true. But camping and tunneling also absolutely need to be nerfed as well.

I went against a basement camping insidious bubba and a camping Trickster yesterday already. Those people will still keep on with these strategies as long as they work.

Bad survivors in solo Q are a real issue and I won't deny that. Also, survivors that want to troll the killer and they can't anymore but they still try to be bullies... they just ruin the game for everyone. I'm not a god looper but I'm pretty good at it and still, I found myself into situations where bruteforce made everything I could do useless... like hitboxes, for example, and the fact that basekit buffs for the killer do not go well with how poorly some maps are designed. If they hit you, there are lots of places where you can't make it to a decent loop before being hit again because of the buffs they received to cooldown hits and the nerfs survivors got with the after-hit distance being reduced. I've mentioned this in another post but I've seen lots of people being down from 10 to 15 seconds after they were initially hit. This didn't happen before I would say...

Ok I can't say I have had any problems with the buffs that killers got to their chase. In my experience, the speed boost and hit cooldown are still more than long enough to always get to somewhere where I can fight back. I guess the only problems really are certain maps that can spawn big deadzones in the middle, but even then I haven't really had too many issues after getting hit once.

Even when I went against a STBFL Clown I didn't really have any problem, though to be fair, I think that was on Eyrie of Crow. Which has way too many safe pallets.

I am going to be honest, I just don't see how a 10% reduction in hit cooldown and speed burst would suddenly make so many more survivors get downed right after they get hit once. I just don't see how. Most maps have fairly solid pallet and window density. The only two maps I can see being problematic are Wretched Shop, and in very rare cases, Torment Creek, though the latter map in general has always been survivor sided.

Of course, I still think that more maps should be looked at. In my opinion, there are quite a few maps that should have less safe pallets, and more mindgameable pallets, but with that also just more pallets in general. That means survivors are less likely to find themselves helpless in a deadzone, but more pallets allow for counterplay on both sides, which means killers also find themselves less often in situations without counterplay.

Of course maps should still have some safer pallet loops, I don't even mind a few god pallets. But some maps have too many safe pallets, but in return, not enough pallets in general. Swamp maps are a good example. They are kind of balanced for the wrong reasons in my opinion.

The faster pallet break animation I can sometimes see coming in clutch for killer, getting a down where they wouldn't have before the patch, especially now that DH was nerfed as well. But even then I haven't really had a problem in chases yet, even after these buffs. Not to mention these buffs help weaker M1 killers the most.

In my opinion, survivors should have just gotten something in return. Nerfs to camping and tunneling and/or information buffs to solo survivors. That's the actual problem with this patch, and something I hope will follow soon after. I personally hope they won't revert the killer buffs, especially the chase buffs, as those encourage killers to go for a chases and play fairer. Except the bloodlust buff, that should be reverted.

I can def see why people don't enjoy this update as much too. Blight and Nurse always feel really unfair + they're literally making a tome of them both rn lmao

I personally get hella excited when they make huge universal buffs because of the ammount of nerfs that come after that. They already said they were gonna make it so Solo queue has more communication. I personally feel like a voicechat would be crucial because when you make everyone be on the same level of info, it's way easier to balance.

Sadly someone on these forums here told me that a community manager confirmed solo survivors wouldn't get any information buffs this year anymore. But maybe, just maybe, they will change their mind on that after hearing all the complaints here.

Yes, Nurse and Blight will hopefully be addressed very soon as well. They surely are too powerful now.

But in general I just hope survivors will get something in return very soon. I am still very disappointed that survivors didn't receive any proper buff against camping and tunneling.

  • Dead Hard could not be faked. Why are people still making that argument? How are people still now understanding why Dead Hard was so problematic and unfair?

This game isn't completely killer sided now. But survivors, at least solo survivors, will need some help in the near future. Either with more information or against camping and tunneling.

Before the update we could run no perks and beat killers and they'd still complain about us.

I mean that can be seen as a signt of imbalance, when survivors can win against killers with full loadouts without using any perks at all. The devs do not treat survivors like they are AI and only cater to baby killers. That's completely ignoring the frustations killers have to deal with.

The problem is that survivors just didn't get their frustrations addressed in return.

  • @Marigoria said:

Why is most people still using 4 slowdowns then? even more now that BBQ is not needed for BP anymore.

Because they are arguably still the best options. At least certain slowdown perks.

The devs will hopefully monitor this and keep nerfing certain slowdown perks a bit if they notice that they are being used too much. I still think that Eruption, Thana, and perhaps Dead Man's Switch will need some slight adjustments. I don't even care if they buff baseline slowdown another time to further nerf slowdown perks properly, but it surely would be nice to have a more varied meta than just slowdown perks.

  • @ThanksForDaily said:

Love the 4 slowdowns. Killer is hard.

I wouldn't classify Surveillance as a slowdown perk. That's an information perk. But I do hope that the devs keep an eye on those slowdown perks and maybe nerf a few more just slightly if they get out of hand, now that gen times have been increased to 90 seconds.

  • Is this suffocation pit? Because if so, that has always been a problem.

Interestingly enough, the Macmillan estate actually seems to have a completely new tile consisting out of two window tiles, and it's not a T-L wall.

  • @Gorgonia said:

It's not okay... making one class rather useless simply because you wanted bad killers to look good is not okay. We have been getting 4kd in solo Q by awful killers.

I am going to be honest though. If you are losing against really bad killers now after the patch, chances are your team wasn't very good either. These buffs weren't that huge that they would suddenly carry bad killers against good survivor teams.

If you were the exception among your team, then again that's a problem of matchmaking. Which is something that sadly doesn't seem to be getting better in the near future.

Not saying BHVR won't have to do something to help survivors, at least solo survivors, out a bit, especially among the low ranks, but still.

  • Meh I can see why some people feel this way, and while I do think that a lot solo queue complaints right now are quite exaggerated, due to the patch being completely new, I do understand why many people are very frustrated. Solo queue can already be quite difficult with matchmaking being so problematic at times, and having much less information than swf survivors.

Obviously the matchmaking part is not a balance problem, but all the killer buffs will still make solo queue a bit harsher now. It's just a shame that survivors didn't get anything in return to help them out with their frustrations. The thing is, the buffs killers got are just universal buffs. They make every killer stronger, which is good. Except for Blight and Nurse of course. They need nerfs. But otherwise, making killers generally more viable is a good thing.

The survivor buffs that people are asking for wouldn't buff survivors that play at the highest potential level. Those are swf teams that already have lot of information to work with. The survivor buffs people generally ask for are buffs that just help survivors that struggle more, i.e. solo survivors, or that help survivors against the worst strategies to face against, camping and tunneling. I wouldn't mind if killers got further buffs, mainly through map balancing, to further compensate. But camping and tunneling really need to be nerfed, and solo survivors need more information to work with.

I just think surivors should have gotten adequate buffs to compensate for the buffs that killers got, helping solo survivors out and/or helping survivors out against camping and tunneling a bit.

  • @CyberRoninX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3070585#Comment_3070585

The problem with your logic here is that 70% of games if not more than that are against solo queue survivors. So I will agree that when you run into a full team it is more balanced. When survivors have no way of communicating with each other the killer shouldn't have any issue getting at least 2 kills per game, I know I haven't when I was playing killer. Running into a team is so far and in-between that killer was already easy enough.

Meh in my experience, a team of good solo survivors can still definitely win against killers. And killer against them is also not easy. Though I guess it kind of depends how much you utilize camping and tunneling. If you go full camping and tunneling, than killer is rather easy often enough. But still, even a good solo team can definitely do well.

This is why again I said that the problem is that the devs sadly stopped when they should have addressed survivors frustrations as well. I understand that giving solo survivors more information and nerfing camping and tunneling would have been a bit much for one such patch maybe. But they surely should have done one of those things. In my opinion the most important thing to do for survivors is to nerf camping and tunneling. There is nothing more unfun to go against than those strategies.

  • @Tiufal said:

Solo Q is even more dead than before. Its already shown thousands of times that playing Solo or even duo is the most pain in the ass way to play this game. And now with those unreasonable and even contradicting changes it got way worse. There is no way to deny that.

I am curious how the changes are contradicting and unreasonable though. I don't think the buffs that killers got are a problem. More the lack of help that survivors, especially solo survivors, received in this patch.

  • I disagree, to an extent. I do not think the killer buffs were too much. They were kind of needed in my opinion, to incentivise killers to play better, and fairer.

In my opinion the problem here is that survivors didn't get enough as compensation. Tunneling got barely nerfed at all, and camping even buffed. That's something that needs to change quickly.

Certain perks were also overbuffed (Thana, Eruption) or overnerfed(Ruin, Self Care, Decisive Strike). And it's a shame that solo survivors are still not getting any form of additional information. But the buffs killers got are not the problem in my opinion. They are fine, they should have just been accompanied by some survivor buffs that help them with their weaknesses, especially camping and tunneling.

  • @TheGrimQueefer said:

Not if the survivor numbers have dropped drastically & you're waiting to be matched with 3 survivors around the same MMR.

I hope they adjusted the random MMR in the update since they're now incentivising playing a particular role.

In that case killer queue times would have also been much longer. And at least for me, they were pretty much instant this evening.

  • @Bupkiss said:

Yes it is more fun for killers and much much much worse for playing survivor.

I feel like that's an exaggeration. The baseline killer buffs weren't that crazy that they would make survivor really bad now. I doubt they will shift the balance too much.

But I do very much believe that survivors, or at the very least solo survivors, will need some help, and hopefully in the close future. No idea why camping and tunneling got pretty much no nerfs at all. And solo survivors could really need some more information to work with.

Survivors will need at least enough to compensate for the buffs killers have received at base.

this is what they have been crying for years for! its like when a kid gets their way....and they are happy for a few days....but dont worry tomorrow they will be complaining that something else on the survivor side needs nerfing....i wish i could see the future when they are crying there arent any survivors left to play against!

I mean to be fair I have seen a lot of exaggerated crying about the survivor experience as well today, with the patch not even being out for 24 hours. People on these forums generally like to exaggerate, and if we are mentioning killers crying and exaggerating how bad the game is, then I think the same can be pointed out on the survivors side after this patch as well. Maybe. It's still too early to tell.

But I do agree that the game will probably be quite rough for solo survivors in the next couple of weeks or even months, until the devs improve the game for survivors as well. More information for solo survivors, and/or some nerfs to camping and tunneling will most likely need to happen in order to keep queue times balanced.

  • The animation seems to still last 1 second for whatever reason, but the actual endurance duration has been reduced to 0,5 seconds.

I have gotten it to work multiple of times already. It can still be a strong perk if you use it in situations where the killer is kind of forced to lunge if he wants to get a hit against you.

  • Yes 5 seconds is way too situational to be an effective counter to tunneling. It needs to be 8 - 10 seconds.

And camping also needs to be nerfed seperately.

  • Pop was overnerfed a bit in my opinion, but there are enough other slowdown perks, and the extra 10 seconds of gen time definitely make a difference.

The idea of these perk changes was to change up the meta. But I do agree that Pop was overnerfed a bit. Killers are still much better off with all these baseline buffs they got however.

  • I am still epxecting killer queue times to go up in the next weeks. Don't think killer mains will enjoy the patch too much after that.

I am not really too scared about A tier killers becoming too strong. If anything, the game will now be really well balanced for them and perhaps B tier killers. Nurse and Blight are the two killers that will definitely need some form of nerfs.

Regarding all the rest of the killers, it's camping and tunneling that needs to be nerfed. Keep their fair and skillful gameplay as it is, but nerf their camping and tunneling potential, which takes very little skill.

  • These aren't excuses. Of course some people here are exaggerating a lot, but that's never been different. But there are certainly potential frustrations that people can and should voice.

Especially camping and tunneling not being nerfed. Canping in particular, which has even been buffed.

Certain perks I also see problematic. Thana and Eruption are overbuffed, and perks like Self Care are now so bad it's not even funny. BHVR will definitely need to follow up with some survivor buffs, especially against camping and tunneling, if they want queue times to stay good on both sides. That's at least my prediction.

I played a few games with clown I think they buffed too many things at the same time, I need to play against stronger teams to judge but I feel like dead hard nerf and longer gens was enough, I felt the same thing on PTB

I doubt the chase buffs for killers were too much though. The only exception is the bloodlust buff, which really was unnecessary.

Unless you mean certain perk buffs or nerfs. Cause I do think the Thana and Eruption buffs were too much, and nerfs too DS and Self Care were just stupid.

But I still think that the killer buffs were all good. They incentivise killers to play fairer and better. It's the lack of camping and tunneling nerfs that are the problem with this patch. And/or the lack of solo queue buffs, giving them more information they can work with. But camping and tunneling are the biggest problem right now in my opinion.

  • I really fail to see how specific perk nerfs will make survivor unplayable for newer players. Especially a perk like Iron Will. It's not even a base perk, but a perk from Jake.

No, if anything will cause a big problem, it's camping and tunneling. New players in particular struggle with those strategies, and now that killers have been buffed, it could become even worse. Those are the strategies that need to be nerfed, and automatically DBD would become better for survivors, especially newer survivors.

Camping and tunneling are also straregies that are often used at low ranks because they are the easiest strategies to use. Killer surely isn't "easy", but those strategies, at least camping, are. I am positive survivors at low ranks have a harder time to win especially because of those strategies. Since they take little skill, they can be used effectively enough even by low rank killers.

It was "fairly" nerfed? All the main survivor perks (dh, spine chill, self care, iron will, ds) got nerfed to the point where they are useless. The killer perks got minor nerfs. Some of the strongest killer perks like bbq didn't get any nerf in terms of gameplay. The most broken perk in the game (noed) got a minor nerf. I know this was meant to be a killer sided patch but this is a bit much. I'm just going to run swfs and carry with prove thyself. Cannot win in solo q.

Ruin and Pop got nerfed heavily as well. And Pain Resonance got a sizeable nerf as well, though that perk should still be good.

The slowdown perk meta in general got nerfed, but instead some of it was pretty much added to the basekit with 10 extra seconds of gen times. That's a good thing. But I do agree that some survivor perks were overnerfed hard. Not sure about DH however. But DS in particular did not need the nerf it got. That and the Self Care nerf are the worst ones.

I still think the one main problem with this patch is that it barely addresses camping and tunneling in any way. If they would have nerfed at least camping properly, that would have gone a long way, and would have addressed the biggest frustrations survivors, especially solo survivors, have to deal with.

  • Definitely exaggerated in my opinion.

The big problem with the patch is the lack of proper nerfs to camping and tunneling. Those are the killer strategies that need to be nerfed, especially now that killers have gotten some great baseline buffs.

However, I can't say that it seems like matches are unwinnable now as survivor. I have already had a fair amount of matches with 2 or more survivors escaping, both as killer, but especially also as survivor. And I really don't think those incremental buffs to killers, like the extra 10 seconds of gen time, or killers chase potential being buffed just a bit, will suddenly shift the game's balance that much. Enough to warrant some camping and tunneling nerfs though.

Certain slowdown perks I can see being overbuffed. No idea why Thana needed that buff for example. And Eruption's incapacitated effect lasts way too long, all it needed was a regression buff. Nurse and Blight now need nerfs more than ever as well. I really hope they won't wait long with those nerfs. The DH nerf is great, finally it won't dominate matches anymore. The DS nerf on the other hand is atrocious. I have no idea what the thought process behind that nerf was. It counterplays tunneling, the perk did not need any form of nerf at all. And the Self Care nerf, no words for that abomination.

But yeah, in my opinion this patch has one big problem, and that is the lack of proper camping and tunneling nerfs, now that killers have gotten some nice buffs. Those buffs were needed though, in my opinion.

I don't see this patch killing the game at all though. Especially not if the devs keep up with this balancing pacing, I hope they will realise that they need to do something against camping and tunneling.

21 deaths out of a possible 40, and that's with somebody intentionally making your group worse and another who valued harassment more than his victory.

Sounds about average. Doesn't seem like your solo experience has been as Doom & Gloom as many people are preaching.

The Doom and Gloom people were preaching were of course exaggerated. That's always the case, has always been. But I can definitely see some people leaving the game and not playing solo queue anymore when they go up against too many killers that just camp and tunnel, since not only have those strategies not been nerfed, camping actually got buffed.

Solo queue can already be pretty frustrating. Or even just survivor in general. Buffing camping does not help that. And tunneling didn't really receive a nerf either.

  • @CyberRoninX said:

crybaby killers get what they want I suppose. Killer was already easy and now its not worth playing.

Killer was not easy, still isn't. Do you play killer yourself? Cause it's not easy if you go up against an actual good survivor team.

This is not about cry baby killers getting their way. This is about the game becoming more balanced and fair for both sides. And DH was definitely problematic and overpowered. It could extend chases too effectively by pressing a button.

Problem is only that the devs stopped halfway when they reached the point where they should have added some nerfs to camping and tunneling to help out survivors against those crappy strategies. And instead didn't.

So I hope that will follow very soon. There is no reason to buff killers in proper ways, which they did need, to make their fair and proper gameplay more viable, and then not nerf camping and tunneling at all.
