vs the average blight player that flicks everything, you literally just go wide, stop hugging things, then people will realise flicking with blight is the most overrated thing ever, and how much better bump logic is.

Another thing is learn how to bodyblock rushes, learn where on tiles blight has to bounce on or pay attention to what they have to bounce on.

Example in this clip is shack where blight has to bounce off either the corners, doorway, or nearby objects, just stand in front of it so you catch them, or they slide off you away

    Streamable Video

    Yoo thanks!

You're right going against a scourge hook, ruin, corrupt intervention, franklins, undying, tinkerer, etc just about every game is boring. So is every nurse that runs starstruck, demo that runs STBFL, Trapper that runs 1-2 iri add ons and corrupt, Thana Legion and Plague, MYC hag etc. But you know why those perks get so much use on those killers? Because they work for them. Survivors are all the same, you know what works against tunneling? DS or being able to heal. Being camped in basement? DS or BT. Getting out of the gate while being chased by a killer in a deadzone that is faster than you? DH. Survivors are all the same, makes sense they would gravitate to perks that actually work for them most games. Same as killer. Now, I'm not saying that perks didn't need changes/nerfs. Most of them did but I am saying, don't act as if survivors are the only ones overusing perks for each and every match.

Such a double standard among players. If used by killers a lot it is necessary because of 'genrushing'. If used by survivor a lot its a crutch or free win.

Tinkerer works once per gen now

Ruin is nerfed really badly. Just do gens lol that way they won't regress

Corrupt Intervention is a perk I never understood why people dislike it lol it just delays the first gen for like 3 secs before you find another.

Franlkin's doesn't matter to me, it's a waste of slot imo as idc about items

Undying is understandable, but if it's just ruin Undying, literally who cares lol it's fine

Only annoying perk to deal with is deadman's switch, but it's not like it's in every game because of the nerfed pain res.

Eruption might be the only annoying perk to deal with, but it never costed me a match nor made it unbearable.

  • @Jinxed said:

I don't agree with this at all, without addressing tunnelling they should not have buffed killers so strongly. They have indirectly buffed tunneling and camping in this patch, and that isn't fun or exciting in the slightest.

You can't really adress stuff like tunneling/camping when you have really weak killers that depend on that.

It really sucks, indeed, but I feel like this change is for a better future.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

I wish tunneling wouldn't be so easy now that DS is pretty much dead.

Makes the games extremely unfun if killers actually take advantage of that

Yeah, I don't feel like the DS stun duration had to be nerfed. It feels really dumb ngl specially with all these speed upgrades to literally everything else.

You are right, the devs have had an opportunity to address camping since 2016. Killrates shouldn't be the only determining factor of why things need to change, it should be more specific than that.

Camping/Tunneling/Map Design/Specific killers lacking mobility/Specific perks... those are the problems people have been on their mind.

Telling us that you often felt bad for the killer doesn't mean that they need a boost. It can also mean that THAT specific killer might be weaker in certain areas. Or that your or his/her own skill are in completely different places.

The fact that you say "can't loop without E" tells me that you actually think people who had DH can't loop. Which believe it or not... they can. It's just that a lot of the gameplay when you have dead hard involves you purposely out-positioning yourself, to bait the killer to swing. Because at the end of the day THAT is the point of Dead Hard (or was). I don't see how this patch brings "thrill" when they were just flat nerfs/buffs without meaningful changes on the other side.

Oh, don't take me wrong! I do believe people that use DH can loop, it's just that it's still a boost for something they don't need.

If you know how to loop, you don't need DH. Using DH back then was just a guaranteed win despite being outplayed. I don't mind new players using it, but the problem was with actual good people using it. Lowkey felt like "abusing" it despite that not being true. Now, Dead Hard is perfect. I love that the distance comes after you succcesfully dodge the hit. It feels more rewarding and like there's an actual skill-gap. I don't think DH is dead at all, specially not now that many killers don't expect people using DH anymore.

Before the update I'd completely agree with you the balance between chase and gens was perfect but now after the update the balance is off, there is an extent to how long most people want to be sat holding M1 and now it's just too long with the constant slow down so the only option is to play killer if I want to play dbd and want it to be fun.

Using your example of queuing I'll wait 50 minutes in line for a roller coaster but I won't wait 70 unless the roller coaster is very fun, which because of the survivor nerfs and no good buffs apart from OTR that roller coaster is not very fun and not worth the wait in solo queue. It's also a lot easier to camp and tunnel now, no dead hard either so killer is easy and way more fun than survivor.

I completely disagree. I always felt like the gen speed was too fast when playing as any role, specially killer.

Sure, it takes 90s now, but keep in mind you can always do gen with other people and tbh on very rare occasions you make a gen solely by yourself. Plus, everyone uses prove thyself, both before AND after the update.

  • @Roaroftime said:

Yes survivor is so much more fun sitting holding M1 for an extra minute and that's not including all the slow down perks that just got buffed lol the update has only made playing survivor even more boring it's basically just play killer now but that's what they wanted I guess

I really don't get how people get bored at doing gens like, have y'all event went outside and waited in line for anything? everytime I hear this statement I feel like everyone is hyperactive or has really bad issues with patience. I really don't feel doings gens is boring. Sure, it's not exciting or adrenaline-pumping, but if the game was constant adrenaline it would turn completely dull.

I never rolled my eyes when doing gens alone

In SWF it's cool because you just talk with your friend like any other day-- it's quite relaxing actually. I personally play with some music in the background (lower than the chase volume so I don't override anything) and just use the gen repairing to start singing. I don't mind gens at all and imo they really needed that extra 10 seconds.

  • @Gorgonia said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3074276#Comment_3074276

You're talking about every killer using the same perks, right? Because that's all I've seen yesterday haha

I haven't seen every killer using the same perks in my matches (lucky me), although I was talking more about the survivors. It's cool to see someone else running aftercare/autodidact/something useful for the team, rather than a "full chase/on my own" kind of build.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

Yep it’s very tense when a killer is just camping while your body hangs on a hook.

    /s

I was talking about normal matches, not the worst-case scenario but yeah

Camping has ALWAYS been a problem in DBD since 2016 and it should definitely get addressed. Personally, I feel like these buffs will make it so devs look at these frustrating things and finally start to balance it in a more appropiate way without feeling too bad for making a killer "too weak"

  • @feechima said:

"Survivor before this patch was literally so stupidly strong that all my matches lasted 5 minutes going and playing against the same perks -- it was a miserable and frustrating experience. Now, killer feels more balanced and I love it!

Personally, when all survivors escaped (which was REALLY often) I just felt bad as killer. Now, they're all struggling and at least someone dies or escape with everyone at 2 hooks and it's great! It's tense, it's FUN, specially because everyone else has perks that you don't really expect and that's actually awesome.

Best of all? I now go against survs that actually loop rather than just press E to win. As pressing E was the sole reason they won against me.

Idk that's maybe just my experience, but after playing since 2016, it's so cool to finally feel that win again rather than just being frustrated for being "dedicated"."

I fixed it for you. :)

I genuinely don't understand how people can enjoy playing against the same perks over and over again for years and years.

Killer experience before was miserable, with a single dead hard costing you 1 or two gens because of the extra chase time.

About feeling bad about all survivors escaping when I'm surv, If the killer only got a few hooks on me, I would show some pity and gift them a Kill because that's ######### rough and we all been there at least once. If a match was already good to me (bp-wise), I don't see any reason why I shouldn't give the killer some points.

  • @ad19970 said:

Meh I can see why some people feel this way, and while I do think that a lot solo queue complaints right now are quite exaggerated, due to the patch being completely new, I do understand why many people are very frustrated. Solo queue can already be quite difficult with matchmaking being so problematic at times, and having much less information than swf survivors.

Obviously the matchmaking part is not a balance problem, but all the killer buffs will still make solo queue a bit harsher now. It's just a shame that survivors didn't get anything in return to help them out with their frustrations. The thing is, the buffs killers got are just universal buffs. They make every killer stronger, which is good. Except for Blight and Nurse of course. They need nerfs. But otherwise, making killers generally more viable is a good thing.

The survivor buffs that people are asking for wouldn't buff survivors that play at the highest potential level. Those are swf teams that already have lot of information to work with. The survivor buffs people generally ask for are buffs that just help survivors that struggle more, i.e. solo survivors, or that help survivors against the worst strategies to face against, camping and tunneling. I wouldn't mind if killers got further buffs, mainly through map balancing, to further compensate. But camping and tunneling really need to be nerfed, and solo survivors need more information to work with.

I just think surivors should have gotten adequate buffs to compensate for the buffs that killers got, helping solo survivors out and/or helping survivors out against camping and tunneling a bit.

I can def see why people don't enjoy this update as much too. Blight and Nurse always feel really unfair + they're literally making a tome of them both rn lmao

I personally get hella excited when they make huge universal buffs because of the ammount of nerfs that come after that. They already said they were gonna make it so Solo queue has more communication. I personally feel like a voicechat would be crucial because when you make everyone be on the same level of info, it's way easier to balance.

  • That's fine lol you don't need to have my opinion

Maybe you're too burned out? This update feels great. Do you play DBD with a competitive mindset? Maybe that's why, I really don't care wether I die or escape. Ranks, MMR, that's just kinda cringe to me.

If someone other than me escapes, I call that as a win.

As a killer, if I get 6 hooks, I'm hella happy. I often get 3K/4K with my killer, but what I mean here is that I don't really care for being competitive or escaping, but rather having fun. It's a multiplayer game so player interaction is the most fun part of this game. Imo one of the most frustrating things is when X side tryhards really badly because I feel like they're not having fun and that sucks!

Anyways, you're free to disagree with me. I'm literally just a random user on a forum.

  • @Mozic said:

I'm curious to get more of your perspective!

Last night as killer my matches felt a lot more enjoyable - but my outcomes were about the same as usual (a mix of 4ks and 2ks). One thing I noticed though is that very few survivors even attempted to loop tiles which did make for pretty open season in chase. I suspect it has something to do with survivors being unaccustomed to the new distances they can expect to make after a hit / dropping a palette.

Have you noticed a tangible difference in these kinds of things?

Not really. My survivors (when I'm killer) still greed out some pallets because they got too used to dead hard. I have also seen some others that drop the pallet earlier because they know they don't have the dead hard distance. Windows too, it feels so good to actually be able to reach them before they jump to the other side thanks to dead hard. Specially because you now can Lunge without being really close because not many people run dead hard anymore.

  • @sulaiman said:

Actually, i dont feel any thrill. Also, i dont experience that struggeling, since a lot of killers still camp and tunnel just as before, and you just can genrush them as easy.

But i have to ask, do you play solo or swf? How many matches did you play as solo and as swf survivor since the update?

I play both solo and swf but when I play SWF, none of my friends use meta perks and we aren't "gods" at the game, despite being veterans. I usually play with a single swf.

Playing Solo is also really fun. My build consists on solo is Distortion, Autodidact, Aftercare and Prove Thyself.

The reasoning behind that build is to basically have "comms". If I see someone being chased near while I'm repairing with someone else, I point in the direction they're being chased and Autodidact has really come in clutch for solo surv when people get injured 24/7 for no reason lol It literally saves matches where everyone is very altruistic.

SWF build just changes Aftercare for Circle of Healing, since having comms makes the aura reading not as useful.

It's just another killer main role-playing on the forums tbh.

I literally play more as a survivor than killer, even have Legacy on Claud as I have been playing since 2016. Sure, I do play both roles, but my preferred role has always been survivor because it's way less stressful than Killer.

    image.png

  • I actually am serious 😭 I literally play survivor with randomizer builds and it's cool that you now can do at least one mistake as Killer.

Before you had to tryhard and be as sweaty as possible, meanwhile survivors could literally play with music and do perkless with how chill it is.

  • Fr tho

I was tired of boosted teammates/survivors that only pressed E to win. It was so depressing to see people NEEDING META PERKS to survive in high ranks.

    Best update imo

  • So far my only crashes had been when somebody was trying to solve it and after everyone was in the ground after downing someone with the box to catch the last survivor so.. not sure what to get from this theory

  • After what happened with stranger things, I don't think they want to do a map based on the new chapter tbh

  • So, I spoke today with what it seems a blight main, that did 60 degree turns, because I was actually impressed, and apparently you can use your own body along with your camera to get what they seem as "impossible hits".

For some reason they make turning way better, and let's you get an incredible high turning speed. I have no idea of the specifics, but I guess it's something like moonwalk/360

It's gonna be nerfed soon probably, just like what happened with Oni. It's also incredible the ammount of blights that exploit the mechanics of this game, like bumping into corners/slides to have a higher speed, and I even saw someone abusing the hill collisions to gain 2 stuns mid-air and it was absolutely horrible.

They shouldn't of have increased the speed on the base kit, since as of right now, the "meta" addons is less stun time, and higher speed.

  • Here is another one

actually going against sweaty SWF is really fun because you can punish them for playing sweaty and in a very predictive way.

I play since 2016 and honestly I lost my hope back then with so many things that were into the game like Infinites

It took them like 1 or 2 years to remove them for some reason

  • Man, I sure do love players that don't do surveys

This was adressed in the latest rift poll, along with basement customization, item skins, skins that you can level up, etc. The anniversary screen may have been done as a way to "test" if they are able to bring that back/tease next rift.

I have almost 2k hours so it's not sprint burst or the tech or anything. I'm wondering how I can gain on most survivors but there always seems to be one that you just can't seem to gain ground and even with chainsaw add ons they just stay out of reach? It's not looping, it's literally just a fraction of a second faster but makes all the difference. Post game guy says I have my tricks? Is it using controller a certain way or straight up hacking? I use mouse and keyboard btw.

    answer: fps

try playing with a friend that has a bad framerate, you will see he doesn't even get the speed boost when hit.

  • @AddictedToMosh said:

Try playing as him. See how fun it is to get gen rushed because you have no map pressure.

This is so stupid, even with a killer like hillbilly and doing a lot of pressure, good survivors will destroy you. I play huntress and deathslinger is a bit stronger because of the terror radius without lullaby. Every match with deathslinger goes well thanks to the unexistant terror radius he has. It is absolutely disgusting

  • worst thing is that they literally say "Hidden" so it is not like we know what the ######### do we have to do to get rank, or if we are gonna de-rank

  • I mean, it is possible

But very time consuming, as it would mean you have to do this for every killer. For instance, if you use instakill hatchets on Huntress, you have a score penalty

or take in mind the heal score event only after a chase ends and while that person is not being chased, like old BT

Same if you cannot heal him because of things like No Mither, deliverance, or being infected by Plague. Stop the timer there or do not count it as "you are a bad teammate"

but let's be real, the code will be so messy

    😂😂😂😂😂 Oh lordy.

I was on YouTube looking for the Tome 2 unlockables (to check if full Elephant was free) and there was a video of the cut-scenes.

I'm not bothering doing the challenges. I'm not that invested in the game anymore.

Even if you are not, you legit skipped all of the other lore-pieces, as they were not fully released, it's just throwing someone elses effort to the trash can

  • can you tell me what do you have equipped? I could try to help

  • Maybe you just have the wrong build

I can easily do pressure with him, and it is really fun to play

  • Just wait on the year 5 roadmap, they will announce it there. If they follow the same format, a map and a killer will be reworked this year.

  • yes, it is an extreme case of lag, it is almost imposible to cheat on console.

Trust me, it happens to me as a killer too, I see the survivor in front of me, and when he goes down, he is a mile away and I go ???

I usually let them re-do the chase because that's literally bullshit

Also, online in console is ALWAYS laggy as hell. Feelsbadman

  • were you that impatient enough to see the ingame files/youtube video of it instead of literally getting them as a reward for doing the challenges?

    That's... very low

  • After every tome completed, I took a loong break so I didn't get burned out. This was a big mistake, as I had to spend the 1k of Auric Cells at the end because I didn't had time, as I was gonna go for vacations for quite some time, and I wanted to ensure that I completed the rift :(

Wish they added a offering that would grant more rift progress, like bloody party streamers, but with xp

Because a lot of people with them are toxic and touching themselves to those cartoons those looney tunes

why do you care about it?

That is literally no excuse, someone with a viking profile pic could be a pedophile or not

    It's stupid

also on the "toxic" comment, you are literally judging people for what they like, a drawing. And you saying that having a drawing as a profile pic is bad and toxic while at the same time shaming them for fapping to cartoons?

Seems like the toxic one is you, but ok.

  • why you have to point the anime profile pic tho? lol

oh and btw, the time they use to tbag, is less time doing gens/gaining distance so, use that to your advantage!

  • you have plenty of options tbh

Huntress Lullaby: Even better than ruin if you manage to end chases fast. Helps so much in late game, and everyone usually does not care until they fail 9 hundred skillchecks in a row. If you miss ruin's effect, you could try this!

NOED: If gens keeps popping so fast, why don't you use Noed? It punishes survivors for genrushing

SURGE: Kicking off gens is a bad idea if you don't have fire up or brutal strenght. Surge literally makes it so you get a better chance to make chases and slow down gens

CORRUPTED INTERVENTION: It's ruin, but way better, specially on smaller maps, you have less to patrol

SLOPPY BUTCHER: Sloppy adds some seconds to the healing, which makes survivors who wants to heal, lose more time on it. Any killer and perk that prevents them from doing gens, is good.

REMEMBER ME: Not really a gen slowdown, but if you manage to do a lots of hits, you can just focus on chases, as exit gates will take YEARS to open. That with noed could case some fun scenarios

Useful Combos: Lullaby + Overcharge + Surge?. Not really sure if overcharge stacks with surge, but if it does it would be the best

Discordance 1 + Surge on Oni, so you can prevent gen-rushing and end it quickly because prove thyself gamers for some reason stay on the same loop over and over

Nemesis + Dying Light: Purely passive genrush slowdown.

Perks you should NOT use: Thanatophobia (It never works as good as you think, it is barely noticeably, only change is that the bar becomes red. Healing takes as much as finishing most of the gen so, why bother?

Dying Light: Same case with tanatophobia, unless you have a perk like Nemesis, which lets you change your obession.

  • For some reason, post sent without me being able to keep writing, but yeah, on the most part it was already there.

Does anyone have any suggestions? feel free to write them down!

  • Majority of players are male, I can confirm that, sadly

  • I would make it so you get more rift xp.

Yeah, I get it, you have to make it grindy so bla bla bla.

You know these "in a single trial" missions? They are stressing me over a lot, because most of the time you cannot control if the killer wants to be stunned, of if the survivors want to go near the basement/or even unhook the person on the basement so you can catch them, because they want to genrush gens because of their missions.

Where do I want to go with this? You end up REALLY stressed up. So you obviously want to take a little break, I take one everytime I fully finish a tome along my friends.

It's the end of the year, exams, work, vacations etc builds up, so you really don't wanna be too stressed -- neither take too much of a break, because there is a time limit, as the rift closes.

Not only that, but everyone genrushing makes it so it takes 0 time to end a match, and because of that, you won't get enough XP for a single level.

I would make it guaranteed that you have 1 rift progress every match, and a little more xp, so you can get that little satisfaction of "omg I got two fragments just because of 200extra xp holy crap I'm so lucky!!"

Fr, I had to do 130 matches at first but now they are even more.

I don't know if I still want to play killer tbh

  • I finally completed tome IV, and I have to do 11 more levels. Time limit (vacation trip) is tomorrow, I probably won't sleep today.

legit most of these, done it by pure luck or bc the killer let me escape.

the 4 pallet stun one was the hardest one on red ranks

killers RESPECT PALLETS because people are genrushing, so wasting time is not an option.

You don't know how many times I got 3 pallets left, and needed 1 more but everyone used it.
