  • 700 megabyte update and still no fix. Great job, devs.

  • I'm having the same problem. It's a game-breaking issue. This game never ceases to amaze me.

  • I have also encountered this issue. I can't hook survivors, nor can I kick generators. Other interactions are buggy too.

  • I, too, have this issue. I'm literally unable to hook survivors, which makes the game unplayable. I hope they fix it quickly. This is a game-breaking bug.

Exactly. Also, his stun seems to be as long as a DS stun???

They busted him pretty completely this patch with horrendous bugs.

Well, at least it wasn't intended. Thanks!

    It's a bug from what I know.

    Phew, good to know. Thanks!

Getting hit over a window like that is probably the most frustrating thing in this game. As a side note, this is exactly why I don't use Lithe because it gets wasted like this 9/10 times.

    Also:

    Downed. With exhaustion.

Further proof the devs would rather roll out unfinished, broken, "improvements" than finish working on something before releasing it. Dedicated servers sounds like it shouldve made the game better. But it hasnt. There is now a constant feeling of bugginess and glitchyness playing dbd on either side. Truly sad.

    Exactly.

The old face camp made it impossible to even un-hooked them, if the killer stood right in front. That doesn't apply anymore, so there IS no face camping to death when you can still get un-hooked. Also makes no sense how BT works on a friggin chainsaw, but that's another discussion...

    Thank you.

  • This is my situation:

During the morning/afternoon --> Instant games as survivor, takes a while for the killer.

During the evening/night --> Instant games as killer, 10+ minutes queues for survivor.

    I'm on PS4 (EU).

  • Mid tier, I'd say.

  • @Angelicus23 said:

I watched this video before in the discord yeah, this thing of dedicated servers have been a problem since the priority is still better for the killer, and now there is a problem worse than lagswitch, using vpn.

they basically can be from the other side of the world, use a vpn from there, and the game thinks the player has green ping so thee is no penalty for the killer and you can get hit 5 milles away smoothly

Damn, that sucks. Thanks for the information.

Playing killer at red ranks doesn't mean you have to facecamp, tunnel and mori spam a survivor for doing their job. Because that's all me and I'm pretty sure @ZoneDymo have faced as survivor

Mori spam is pretty hilarious, unless it's used to prolong the game. Facecamping is technically not possible anymore, and tunnelling, whilst not fun, is sometimes necessary.

    But that's a different topic.

Your video is honestly extremely hilarious.

It's worse than mine (in terms of lag and server ping).

Just to clarify, it's not mine. I just thought of it as a perfect example to prove my point. Go check the youtuber out, he's good!

  • @ruler33 said:

ok 1. that video was so funny honestly and 2. thats the killers ping not the survivors ping so until they actually get dedicated servers like working correctly this will probably be a thing. In the meantime though i guess just play killer idk there is no just insta fix to this your gonna have to wait

Waiting until Behaviour actually fixes it? That might take a while. 😂

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

It's not hitboxes, it's not your connections, nor the killers.

    It's their servers.

Predator just released their demo, and while I was playing it I noticed their servers were amazing.

It was a demo, and their servers were much better than this.

We haven't received any updates on their end. We haven't been told their working on the servers, on the lag, ping, anything.

    Complete silence.

Thanks for the information. I read somewhere that Behaviour relies on Amazon-provided servers, is it correct?

Also, I've watched Monto's gameplay of predator, and it looks pretty cool. Might give it a shot when it comes out.

Im happy to see your only problem is technical issues, im currently disgusted by killer player behavior.

I don't mind that, as I know what it means to play killer at red ranks myself.

I like the inverted skill checks, though.

I disagree. Killers can make it almost impossible to do generators and you especially don’t want to 3 gen yourself. Lucky there’s keys available but those aren’t guaranteed. Most often chases are cut really short because let’s be honest killers really do have the upper hand in mowing people down within 5 minutes too. It really all depends on if someone can run the killer or not. But more often than not nobody does 😂 it shouldn’t be like that, I rarely have fun on chases because laggy hits ruin the game, or hits they don’t deserve where I’m clearly through a vault and they still hit me. Nah... bs! How is that fun for survivors? Please tell me and show me an example where killers aren’t getting 3-4K consistently? You whine because you might be learning still. That’s okay.

    Nice b8 m8 I r8 8/8.

If we consider that each survivor needs 3 hangs to die (12 in total) and the survivors only need to make 5 engines, isn't the game a bit unfair? not to mention how easy and fast it is to repair an engine (in less than 4 minutes all 5 engines can be completed) they would not have to do more engines to be able to escape?. Not to mention that there are 4 people who only need to do 5 engines, against a single person who needs to do 12 hangs ... am I the only one (not main survivor) who thinks it is very unfair?

Arguing with survivor mains is useless. I know it for a fact, I used to be one myself. I thought killers were overpowered even though the fault was almost always mine. Then I started playing killer, and realized how unbalanced this game truly is.

Dbd is in a disgusting place as of now. Survivors can end the game in 5 minutes or so. The ONLY thing you will be told is "apply pressure and git gud", a pathetic excuse which seeks to hide the game's flaws.

I still play killer, but now I'm limited to Hillbilly, Nurse and Spirit unless I get really lucky and get a good map or poor survivors.

I mentioned in my thread that I do play killer more than survivor, and generators aren't really that bad.

Sure, the beginning generators are gone and that sucks, but if you can get a good snowball going — survivors won't reach the Exit Gates.

The main problem is queue times, I shouldn't be forced to play killer 24/7 without getting a proper chance to play survivor. The bugs, queues, and dodges makes playing survivor almost impossible. Maybe if you play a few games of killer, you can get easier survivor games and vice versa? 😁

It's kind of hard to get the snowball going when you're paying killers such as the Clown on huge maps.

  • Bring back ruin. I'd be willing to bet that survivor queue times would get a lot shorter. What's the point of playing most killers if you're going to get gen rushed in 5 minutes anyway?

  • Once I tried to grab a survivor who was looting a chest; what a big mistake that was. I got stuck there, hand in the air, doing the nazi salute for about 5 seconds. Then I disconnected and played another game.

Maybe not the weakest, remember leatherface. But he is one of the most weak killers with no doubt. I really don't understand the positive reviews on steam...

He's literally a worse version of the huntress...

Apparently many survivor mains think that he's broken and needs a nerf, lmao.

This is so stupid, even with a killer like hillbilly and doing a lot of pressure, good survivors will destroy you. I play huntress and deathslinger is a bit stronger because of the terror radius without lullaby. Every match with deathslinger goes well thanks to the unexistant terror radius he has. It is absolutely disgusting

I'm a Billy main and while it is true that at red ranks survivors can destroy you no matter what, the Hillbilly remains a far superior killer. I end chases very quickly with him, something you can't do with the Deathslinger.

It seems you don't know that spirit, hag, huntress has the same speed. If you lost all the chases perhaps you're doing something wrong.

Spirit can phase walk, quickly catching up to survivors and mind gaming them.

Hag can teleport; setting up a good series of traps can significantly shorten chases, though she's still pretty weak at rank 1.

Huntress can wound/ down survivors from afar. Her hitbox sometimes allow her to hit survivors when it shouldn't even be possible.

Deathslinger has none of that. He needs to reel his flimsy chain to hit survivors, and if it breaks it only applies deep would to them, though he gets stunned for a "brief" period of time (which is actually as long as a DS strike stun). Good survivors will easily dodge his harpoon, not to mention that very often the game will let them throw down a pallet even after being hit. Also, the Deathslinger's gun has a limited reach, which makes it so that you can't hit survivors who are too far away, unlike the huntress.

Most killers in the game have spoken: while he may be fun to play, he's nothing more than a mid tier killer. The fact that he has no map pressure at all kills him.

  • @Irisora said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1172342#Comment_1172342

I bought him with shards too and honestly i would have preferred buying a cosmetic instead. Not even his perks are good, all are "meh" perks. He needs a serious rework.

Agreed. The sad thing is that I still miss Plague, Oni and Legion, but decided to buy the Deathslinger because he looked interesting. Now I feel like an idiot.

  • @Irisora said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1172285#Comment_1172285

So true. Hes so slow that he lose chases despite still been following the scrathmarks.. All thanks to the slow cooldown of hell from miss+reload time and tiny hitboxes. One of the worse killers so far.

Exactly. I regret spending 9000 shards on him. Everything about him is so slow. Missing one shot can essentially cost you the game. In order to even stand a chance, you need to be really accurate.

  • Try playing as him. See how fun it is to get gen rushed because you have no map pressure.

  • The devs don't listen to us killer mains.

  • There might be a killer shortage. I wonder what could have caused that.

  • @walrusthemighty said:

I have been recently playing Deathslinger solely (I know it is quite surprising, isn't it?). I have serious doubts about this killer. Let me quickly explain. Deathslinger has one single shot, which makes him reload constantly if he was to miss the shot. While all the ranged killers, such as Huntress, Plague and Clown, have an ability to use their power multiple times in a row without recharging it (unless you play iridescent huntress with no extra 2 hatchets) during the chase, Deathslinger is missing it. He only has one shot, which if missed during the chase, sets him back and creates too much distance between you and survivor. This can be lessened by having two reload speed addons, but even then it still punishes you way too much in my opinion. Now, one shot opportunity mechanic would make total sense if it would actually be strong. However, it is simply not. You can hit a shot and get absolutely nothing out of it. Survivor can brake the chain, other survivors can help them brake it, etc. I just don't understand why does he have only one shot to use. He is not getting an equal amount of value from having just one shot in his disposal when using his power. You can not correct yourself if you were to miss the shot, unlike huntress for example. With huntress you can miss the shot and still hit the person with your second/third/fourth/fifth hatchet. Risk/reward for Deathslinger to use his ability and get something out of it it too high and honestly unfair for no reason in my opinion. Next, not only one shot is what bothers me after playing him. Hitbox on this harpoon is ridiculously small in comparison to that of the Huntress. Not only he has one shot, but he also has to aim way more precisely than Huntress to hit the shot, and even then it might very well be not worth it. He is fun to play, don't get me wrong, but is he worth it? I do not think so.

    TL;DR

Deathslinger having a single shot does not pay off for his relatively weak power. Hitbox on his harpoon is too small for some reason and does not match with the value you get out of hitting a shot.

Agreed. Spent 9000 shards on him and, man, would I love to get a refund.

Not only is he too slow, but everything he does slows him down even more (reeling the chain, aiming, reloading, getting stunned if the chain breaks). Playing him is rather frustrating, as you get gen rushed like crazy, and, having no map pressure, there's nothing you can do about it.

Unless they do something about it, I'll consider the Deathslinger a huge disappointment. Looks good on paper, but he's too weak (mid tier at best).

  • Ormond, Springfield and Autohaven: allow us to introduce ourselves.

Yeah, my bad. Your correct. You play on ps4, you play my games, you know it all buddy. Anyone that plays on ps4 pretty much runs coms because of how simple and easy it is. It's called party chat. People saying they DON'T use it are the same ones that say they don't use god windows either... Next

I can confirm this. Every game I play as killer is against a SWF team. I can't find games as survivor, the queue times are longer than 15 minutes, but I instantly find games as killer. Rank 1 by the way.

  • I slugged a super toxic Blendette Squad till they were dead on the ground. Ended up with a depip, but man, was it satisfying.

  • @maximizer12 said:

Maybe add a trample mechanic which crushes the corn, bushes, and high grass when a killer walks and a survivor runs on it. This way by endgame, survivors can't just crouch right next to the killer and get away. The amount of lost matches I've had because of the corn or blendable brush is so unecessary. This way we can nerf the blendettes and make the farms more tolerable for killers

I doubt the devs would be capable of programming that into the game, though I like the idea. Playing short killers on corn maps is disgusting.

the game isn't designed for killers or survivors to win every game.

you are right, survivors do have a few "anti tunnel" perks but they are needed in a lot of games because of the way killers have started playing. i'd rather have a chance than to instantly go down every time i'm unhooked. i know that survivors are sometimes to blame for that happening too especially when someone is hook humping.

survivors do go out of their way to save each other and for me thats because i don't like seeing someone being targeted. i've been in that situation and it really sucks.

as for going back to the same gen after being chased off it, it depends. i don't always go back to the same gen. also i agree....if the killer kept coming back to the gen then i wouldn't call that tunneling, thats patrolling gens and if a gen is almost done then it would be smart to go back to that one. that is different to tunneling a survivor.

i'm not sure what rank you are but i know when you get to red ranks, camping and tunneling 1 person will also make you de-pip. you need to do a lot in red ranks to pip or safety pip. do i think the pipping system is fair...no i don't. i definitely think killers have it a lot harder.

i also agree with you about it being the developers fault. even the tome challenges, they encourage a lot of unwanted behaviour, however, i still believe that tunneling/camping is an issue and so are the gen speeds, unfortunately it's not very likely that either will get looked at.

I'm rank 1, and I manage not to depip (most of the times anyway) by tunnelling one survivor whenever I deem it necessary. I usually don't do it if I'm playing Billy or other strong killers, but rather with Clown or Doctor. If the survivors are not toxic and don't have DS, I'll always go for the unhooker.

For the rest I pretty much agree with you.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1165744#Comment_1165744

I can’t stand camping or tunnelling. It’s boring and it really sucks as a survivor if you’re downed pretty early in the game. Does it mean that I don’t play killer because I hate it and I complain about it? No it doesn’t. I do play killer. I refuse to camp or tunnel Because it is a ######### way to play and I can still manage to get 3 or 4K half of the time without doing it.

Camping and tunnelling started happening more once ruin was nerfed (worst idea the devs had) but remember people use to play and win games without using ruin (before the changes) so it’s not impossible.

do I also think that gen repair speeds are too fast? Yes I do. Doesn’t mean killers have to tunnel or camp. Try different builds. You can still win.

im red rank survivor and I’ve been up against plenty of red rank killers that don’t camp or tunnel and still get a 3 or 4K.

when people make comments about how killers are pretty much forced to tunnel and camp a survivor to stand a chance, I think it’s bs. You get a good team of survivors and you’ll only get 1 kill by camping or tunnelling anyway. so what’s the point..it’s boring and if you’re only going to get 1 kill anyway why not just play properly and Figure out a way that works and get better in certain situations.

with saying all that, I do think something needs to be done to the gen speed. Until then it is still possible to win as killer.

It is possible to win without tunnelling, that's why I said "killers are often forced to tunnel". Not always, but often, especially when you're playing killers such as the Clown. Getting one survivor out of the game as quickly as possible boosts your chances of winning the game. Hooking different survivors, on the other hand, is a recipe for defeat when generators fly. Also, let's not pretend survivors don't have enough "anti tunnel" perks, DS and BT to name a few.

Tunnelling can be a good tactic, as SWF groups will go out of their way to save their friend. I fail to see why tunnelling is wrong, too; after all, do survivors start repairing a new gen when you've scared them off one? No. They'll go back to the one they were repairing. Are they "tunnelling a generator"? I wouldn't say so. They're acting smart. They're playing to win, and you can't blame them for that.

This is why I claim that neither tunnelling nor gen rushing are inherently wrong. They can be the best means to reach an end. Are they fun? No. But this is the nature of the game: it's a constant fight. There's (almost) no honor in war. If the game actually rewarded killers who go for the unhooker, everyone would do it. But as of now it doesn't make sense; how many times have I hooked every survivor only to depip? Lowering the threshold of a brutal pip would be a good way to start.

At the end of the day, it's the developers' fault. Make the game less sweaty and add other objectives for the survivors, and you'll see tunnelling disappear.

  • @Fibijean said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1165707#Comment_1165707

Then they don't have to if they don't want to. That's the whole point of the system - if other players feel like you deserve acknowledgement, then they can give it to you. If they don't, you lose nothing. Sure, some people will be salty over losing no matter how chivalrous their opponent was, but that's not everyone. I wouldn't even say that's most people. The point is, there's nothing to abuse, it's a totally optional system that rewards positivity and good sportsmanship, and that's it. It's basically just attaching a rewards system to the "Give Props" mechanic that already exists.

That could be a good idea.

I've come across some really kind survivors mains when playing as killer, but every match I either get insulted, or someone tries to taunt me with something like "GG EZ". Maybe I'm just unlucky, but that's my experience. I play on PS4 though, which is more appealing to younger kids. That might explain why.

That's undeniably true, especially the asymmetric aspect which I believe to be the main source of entitlement in this game. Which brought me to thinking about: what happens if player begans to feel entitled to being honoured? That sure would pervert the original intention of the whole system.

I've started playing this game two months after release and I see the same topics being discussed over and over and over again. In my young, naive state of mind, I'd thought this might bring a bit of fresh, new air to what slowly becomes the most toxic community I've ever come across. :D

I definitely appreciate that. We certainly need fresh ideas, the problem is that the Devs often don't listem to them.
