When i see posts about genrush its always "just apply more pressure" and "its the survivors objective" cant the same be said for like the daily nerf camping and tunneling posts? Killers goal is to kill how they get the kills is fine whether it be standing infront of the survivor holding a chainsaw or chasing that survivor until they're dead. But camping and tunneling is throwing gens away. The difference is that if i take 30 seconds to get to the other side of the map with clown and i find and chase a survivor for 30 seconds and down them and hook them (which might take another 20) thats 3 gens gone when i was doing my job of hooking a survivor.Gen speeds are harder to counter then tunneling and camping. Especially when survivors have bt and ds to help them. I hate the us vs them since i play both sides but i dont get why survivors complain about camping and tunneling with how the game currently is. (And thats the base gen speed toolboxes can make it faster so even if im quicker doesn't make a difference).

Goes to show the double standards. I genuinely think that those who complain about tunnelling/ camping don't play killer. If they did, they'd realise that killers are often forced to tunnel one survivor to even stand a chance. I don't like tunnelling as killer either, but what am I supposed to do? Lose the game because the survivors are not having fun? How about we fix the maps/ gen speeds first? I'm sure that tunnelling would become less common by the day then.

The main idea I was having in mind was to go away from directly punishing/penalising players based on their actions but to encourage and reward "fair" and "sportsmanlike" behaviour to get the same results. It's like working with...let's say a child: instead of penalising it for its behaviour, you should try to positively reinforce good behaviour in order to maintain it - that's the underlying thought I had. And I was thinking that this could be achieved with a system such as Honour-levels.

I don't know what its core elements should look like nor how it can be effectively implemented - it'd be tough, that's for sure. And it won't be applicable to SWF.

Yes, it'd be more than difficult establishing what is fair and what should not be done. But why not let the choice be made by the individual? If a killer deems simple genrushing as not honourable, he won't honour the player(s) afterwards. If a survivor deems tunneling not honourable, that survivor is free to not honour the killer. That said, the other 3 survivors can still deem him or his playstyle honourable.

I know it's a weird concept as of now, but again, it was just what my mind spontaneously came up with. :)

It's not a weird concept, I just don't see it working with this kind of community. Most players act as entitled children, and I blame the devs for catering to every request they make. The fact that this game is asymmetrical only complicates things: if I'm playing, say, Rome 2 online, and I lose a battle, I might still "honor" my opponent because we fought in a quasi-balanced match. But DBD is fundamentally different.

I don't like tunnelling or camping I don't like doing it , because It is annoying and I would not like to have it done to me, waiting 10 minutes as a survivor to play and getting tunneled is not good.

Tunnelling and proxy camping is pretty much necessary to win. I wouldn't tunnel if the games lasted more, but given the absurd gen speeds I often feel forced to do it. Also, most survivors I play against deserved to be tunnelled, so there's that. If the survivors are not toxic and there is no DS, I always go for the unhooker. It's such a shame that these conditions are rarely respected.

How would people abuse a system where you can only give 'upvotes', not 'downvotes'?

Why would the survivors even vote then? Most of them are so easily triggered, they'd just refuse to upvote. I don't know. Being the cynical bastard that I am, I really have no faith at all in this community.

    Hello,

topic says all. Any suggestions or opinions ?

    Greetings

There's nothing you can do about it. As long as the survivors M1 at the generators, they will win. Ruin was a bend aid fix to a bigger issue, and now we don't even have that. Remember the Depip Squad? Things haven't changed much since then.

Killers can only win if the survivors make mistakes. Keep that in mind.

  • @LetsPlayTogether said:

There is no genrush. Stop this nonsense for gods sake. And yeah, if you cant "win" with trapper youre bad at it.

I can agree with that, but then we need to stop complaining about tunnelling and camping too.

  • @crixus006 said:

Most of the games I play in less than 2 minutes make me 3 generators. If I play with Billy, Oni or Myers I can still balance the game and get a 2K or 3 but I would like to play with the other killers I bought all the killers who have come out but playing with them is more difficult for example I love the demogorgon but if I play with him I am able to hook 2 or 3 survivors and 4 or all the generators have finished. Also, I loved the trapper but I spent 1 or 2 minutes to set traps survivors already made me 3 or 4 gen ... Maybe I'm bad at playing, but I just can play a couple of hours after I get home from work and I would like to enjoy the games and not suffer from bullying.. thanks for your time

I'm pretty sure it's okay to mention the game you're talking about, or even link to a description of that system to illustrate your point. I've done it before.

That aside, I'd personally be totally on board with this. I think that rewarding sportsmanlike behaviour is a much better way to encourage good community relations than punishing unsportsmanlike behaviour (particularly since there is some contention around exactly what is considered unsportsmanlike and when). It would essentially just be the same as giving props now, only it would actually do something tangible. Having a higher "honour" level could also reward players with things like tally screen borders or free shards, similarly to how it works in League (which I assume is the game you're thinking of).

The problem is that survivors would abuse this system, and most killers would end up with low honour. I just can't see it working. Also, who decides what is fair and what should not be done? As some have suggested punishing tunnelling killers, should gen rushing survivors also be penalised?

  • @WeenieDog said:

I just wonder how honor would even be built. If people voted, then it could end up like OW's endorsement system where people either don't vote, or just randomly pick on a name on their own team.

And how would the game be able to detect punishable actions in a fair and consistent manner apart from straight forward incidents like disconnecting? and what would fair play even mean?

But I think we'd end up with the same situation we already have:

People that |camp/tunnel/farm/1 hook death/hold m1 all game/generally throw| don't really care about points or rank.

    Well said.

I’m sorry can you pls repeat that a few more times I didn’t get it the first 3..

    What do you mean?

  • If you've won the game, just leave. Having to waste time at the exit gates is annoying for us killers. At times survivors only leave a couple of seconds before the end game collapse kills them, forcing you to reach the gates and fend them off.

  • @Arbmos1998 said:

Honestly probably the best $4 i've spent on this game. Ghostface and Spirit are probably the best DLC Killers hands down. I love Ghostface because you can play a lot differently than Chase, Hit, Chase, Hit while being looped. I love that you can have no TR, hit someone, let them run off and heal, find someone else, hit them and then try and find people healing and get quick downs, I also rarely use Stalk and when i do it's mostly because they are way out in the open and i know i can hit them but even then i still rarely use it. You could take Stalk away from Ghostface and it would be an issue to me at all.

As this Killer i genuinely feel like i am the Power Role because even against high rank players i still have a chance at winning and thats what this game needs more of. Viable Killers.

I've played 4 games today in a row with Ghostface and had roughly the same results each time 4 man 5 gen, 4 man 4 gen and nothing lower as well as 2 pips each time.

I really hope this Killer does not get nerfed because honestly him and Spirit are probably the last bit of fun i have in this game, taking that away from me i may just need to consider moving on to other games.

I'm not sure. SWF can completely counter his power, rendering him a weak M1 killer. If the survivors know how to loop optimally, the timer runs out before you can get a hit on them. Certain maps are also terrible for him. I'd say he is mid tier.

Once I had to face a Blendette squad on Yomoaka. All of them burnt the mist offering, and they all had iron will + two toolboxes. You probably know how the game ended.

Oh, not to mention the "GG EZ" in the chat.

  • There's nothing wrong with tunnelling. That said, I don't think this system could work. I don't think this game has a mature enough community to handle such thing.

  • @Seltas0208 said:

That this game is "supposed to be frustrating"?

Because. If a games frustrating someone just won't play it .

Is it an attempt to let people connect to the characters they play via the shared feeling of frustration? I doubt Jed Olsen gets frustrated with laggy console menus that constantly freeze up on the bloodweb screen.

Trapped getting frustrated because he was stunned by a pallet isn't shared. We're frustrated that we got stunned from 2m away. (Seriously hating the pillboxes right now. You don't even have to be touching a pallet to get stunned by it)

The grind is frustrating, and I don't think I've heard anyone saying that's a major reason as to why they play the game....

And yet in the ruin/doctor rework the goal was to make things less frustrating.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to what MCOTE says. After all, he was the one who suggested that killers should play civilisation. I like Mathieu, but sometimes he says things that outrage the players even though he didn't mean to.

It will as it drags the chase out for another minute

After reading this, I'm stating to think that you're trolling, or perhaps you don't really play killer. Another minute? Is that your definition of balance?

  • @gezza123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1164333#Comment_1164333

I do i have both at rank 1, i know there are problems for the killers but this is just a big one for survivors

Want to stop tunnelling? Just slow the gens down. That's it. Buffing DS won't help.

  • @gezza123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1164291#Comment_1164291

But i can't choose other players perks to guarantee borrowed time so that argument is completely pointless. And face camping is not a chase

Face camping, by definition, does not exist anymore.

You can't always expect to win as a survivor either. If your teammates are bad and save you while the killer is near without BT, shame on them. But the killer should not get punished for trying to complete his objective. If the gens were slowed down, I could agree with you, but as of right now the game is incredibly survivor sided. Try playing killer at red ranks, see how frustrating it is.

  • @gezza123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1164255#Comment_1164255

It doesn't take any skill to tunnel and camp either, that is why the perk is needed

You already have Borrowed Time. And are you really comparing the pressing of a button to a chase? Do you even play killer?

  • Nah, it is op. It's a get out of jail free card that allows survivors to make mistakes and get away with it. It also requires zero skill to use. The worst thing is that all four survivors can have it.

  • @28_stabs said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1163950#Comment_1163950

We suggested multiple times DS deactivation rules. I dont know, if devs took a note of it or not.

I highly doubt it. The devs don't want to anger survivor mains

  • @28_stabs said:

Maybe you played fair and it was not fair to DS you, but in general killers like to tunnel to death survivors, so DS is ok. Endure.

Unfun tunnel is the way to go.

Also, gotta love it when I've switched target and hooked another survivor, yet the first one still has DS and escapes. Anti tunnel perk my ass.

  • @SurvivorsAreRuined said:

I think they should just get rid of Mori.

I'll gladly give up my mori as long as keys and DS are removed.

  • @Zaitsev said:

Facts. I feel the anti tunnelling effect of the perk is nothing. DS is still OP, but its less frustrating than old DS, so its a step in the right direction. I would rework it quite simply. DS increases your wiggle speed, thats it. Done, simple as that

Why not make it so that Decisive Strike only triggers if the survivors has reached 50% of the wiggling progress? That I could get behind. It would make it a high risk, high reward perk. Right now DS is too strong, and I hate the fact that a survivor can use it while you're starting the hooking animation.

  • @Goatman_Jack said:

The state of the game is clearly a joke right now. Things had been going downhill since before the ruin nerf, but that was just the icing on the cake. Since that and the legions chapter it’s become increasingly more and more frustrating as a killer. Yes yes there’s the dark days of long past. But they improved the game significantly since those times. But now it feels as if we’re headed back that way.

Not everyone who plays this game aims to get to red or even purple ranks. Yet they had to deal with the same #########. No, I don’t want to switch over and play survivor. That’s why I’m a killer main. No, I don’t want to be massively OP and 4K every game. And I don’t, nor have I ever expected to. I just want to actually have fun as a killer again. Before it still felt tense and like I had to use my head at times. But as of late it just feels like a nightmare. No one expects to win every single time, but no one also expects to lose over and over and over.

So my question stands. Why bother staying? What is it? Even I’m confused as to why the hell I still play fully well knowing I’m just going to get frustrated, but I keep coming back.

It's a lot more satisfying, though it can also be frustrating as hell. I just love slicing through survivors with Billy's chainsaw. Also, what's not to love about the post game salt?

  • Well, this update pretty much broke the game for me. Now there's a disgusting lag (I had never experienced rubber banding as killer before) and sometimes I'm forced to disconnect because the game literally ceases to function. I hooked a survivor once but he was actually on the ground, and when I tried to pick him up again the game wouldn't let me. Also, he didn't bleed out. Pretty good job so far.

  • @Khroalthemadbomber said:

It's been "fixed" like 3-4 times now I believe but much like Legion's Infinite Mend, it keeps coming back.

Ah, thank you. Hopefully they will "fix" it for good next time.

  • @DevinitelyAMoron said:

Lol I played Huntress lastnight and hooked a survivor and stood there for a sec, stared and nodded, and finally walked off and the chat was like someone was shooting a flamethrower at me until it went empty. People need to chill in this game lmfao. I wasn't even camping, I only stood for like 3 seconds, nodded, and left.

    Yes yes with head.

  • @leyzyman said:

As far as I know, havent heard anything from the devs.

    Thank you.

  • Stridor and Sloppy Butcher are great perks for her. I don't main spirit though, so I can't really help you there. However, this video is really well made. It will definitely teach you something.

    https://youtu.be/7AG8v-5sszA

When it comes to abandoning chases, it can be hard. However, if you haven't caught the survivor after about 40 seconds I'd say, you should consider leaving him (a lot of it depends on the map. Does he have strong loops at his disposal? Yes ----> leave him and patrol gens. No ----> continue the chase.) Some loops are big no nos, and you should try to avoid them unless you have bamboozle. For example, the main building in Scrotus Penn is a waste of time.

  • Seriously though, given the absurd gen speeds, you should play top tier killers (Billy, Spirit) and try to secure a kill early on. Tunnelling and slugging survivors with DS is often necessary (SWF teams will go out of their way trying to save their buddy) . Don't waste time at god loops, don't respect pallets and try to make sure that the last 3 gens are close together.

That's my best advice if you want to stay at red ranks, but know it won't be fun. Survivors use killers as a tool in order to have a good time. Show no mercy.

  • With killer? Unfun tunnel is the way to go.

  • @CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:

Originally I was going to set my nickname as either ThegreenkillerJ,which is an old nickname,Jarofaxe,my first ever nickname and then I realized that since I'll join a dbd community, I needed to come up with a relative nickname. Claudette was my first survivor, and since they are famous for hiding in bushes, claudetteinabush was born. I was between this and DoctorIsMyDaddy, which honestly, I thought that I would be immediately banned.

So what about you? Let me know down below.

    Thrash metal is life.

  • @gezza123 said:

Does anyone else think that DS should also stop you from being Mori'd as killers who use it just instantly tunnel and there is physically nothing the survivor can do to stop being killed or tunnelled.

    Anybody have any thoughts?

Decisive Strike is already OP. The last thing it needs is a buff.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

I'm stealing this. It's too damn good.

  • @Junebug said:

Because I loathe this map. It has all the same size problems as corn maps, but without the corn to mask your angle of approach. I don't mind how strong the actual asylum building is as a jungle gym full of pallets, but it definitely can make a frustrating game worse. I don't feel like I can do much to keep gens from going off across the map unless I play hillbilly or fred.

Agreed. The main building has a stupid amount of pallets. I still think that Haddonfield and Springfield are worse, though.

  • @Junebug said:

Frankly I could take the rickety balance if there was any sense of decency amongst the survivor players. Nobody says GG in postgame unless they completely steamroll you, and any other time they speak up is just flaming and vitriol. I'd be happy to just chase them around and give them a scare if they'd display some basic ######### human respect for me taking my time to play the side of the game that is necessary for them to play M1 progress bar simulator.

I've heard civilization is a good game.

Jokes aside, this game is completely unbalanced, which is something killers have to get used to. I'd suggest playing it casually: have some music on in the background (metal is always a good choice) and try not to get annoyed by the braindead survivors. Don't even look at rank, experiment with new builds or killers and turn off the end game chat.

Edit: it seems like I mentioned the wrong post. I was referring to the op, sorry for that.

  • @Dragonivy759 said:

There is a lot of people here complaining About the stuff the killer does, but that isn't the point. The point is that if it were a setup killer, like the trapper, then that first gen and the map compounds against the killer. If it were somebody else, like a green rank on consoles, most people would give up. This game is not balanced as it should. Killers shouldn't be against survivors that are way too good for the killer, or survivors that can't do crap. The ranking system and the stupid maps are the problems, and most killers couldn't come back from that. If otz had been a god tier huntress or nurse, the map and gens wouldn't matter because they are the best killers on PC. Console, however, the best is Billy. BILLY! Good survivors can escape Billy easily, on console. Because the skill gap on survivor is so much lower than killer, then killers are gonna stop playing, and the problems a lot of low ranks are having are gonna get worse, killer or survivor.

The Trapper is pretty much unplayable at red ranks, at least in my opinion. Setting up traps takes too much time, and they get closed anyway because most players are in SWF groups.

  • Can we please stop changing subjects? Some players in this thread are constantly diverting attention from the issue, refusing to address how broken generator speeds are. It doesn't matter if Otz got a 4k or not. That's not the point of this video. Stop acting like children.
