At this point, I would say this game revolves around the FOMO tactic, especially after the rift was introduced.

Cash grab here and cash grab there. And here we are again with this "event" and you know what so bad about it? The login rewards.

Login rewards are primary subject to any and all mobile games and most free to play games on console or pc, yet Dead by daylight is not free, so what is the reason for doing login rewards? Especially doing this for a whole month?

My only guess is they are trying to artificially inflate their playercount on steam or any other websites that keeps up to date with player count, to make their game seem like its popular and good.

I mean, we saw what happened with the Halloween "event". Dead by daylight had its most biggest player drop that month and ever since then, they been doing this login reward thing.

Remember, you don't have to play for more then 10 mins to be counted as an active player for a game, you could just get on for 10 seconds and steam or any other playercount website will count you as an "active player" and that is most likely what a huge amount of playerbase are doing right now each day with this month for this game.

They wait for the next day, open dead by daylight, get the login reward, close the game and that artificially inflates the player count.

That is kind of disappointing to hear.

I love you for this. You should've @ me. I had to find this post on my own.

Very passive aggressive, just because he don't want to admit it's toxic.

It isn't toxic. I didn't even know that this was considered toxic until people started to say so on the forums. In fact, your post wasn't the only post I read about this topic, there were others I have read saying the same kind of thing.

What is toxic is how you throw the match just to teach them a lesson so to speak. Sure, they could miss out on their opportunity to get something like BT activated but is it really that big of a deal (also I am pretty sure no one tries this when the killer is close)? Again, you are throwing the game making you more toxic that the person who either attempted to kobe or kobe'd. In other words, you screw over the other two people because someone tried to be silly and kobe. Compared to the person trying to kobe, I am pretty sure the person who leaves that person to die is far more toxic than the person on the hook. You get way more points doing generators and playing survivor in general.

    @Felnex said:

You're being passive aggressive towards keygun right now

Let's be honest, it is bad thing to do in every sense. If you do Kobe, you deprive the player (who already ran all the way there to save you) Bloodpoints and WGLF stacks, and you also deprive yourself of Borrowed Time, or We'll Make It. It's a very selfish thing to do.

Your fun isn't illegal so don't be overly dramatic nobody is saying that. But if your fun comes at somebody's expense, maybe you should reconsider what you're doing. Logically, you know you should just let them rescue you rather than yeet in their face. Your joy is their annoyance: So don't be rude.

Will it really ruin your game experience if you miss out on one save with WGLF, WMI, or just in general though? Remember that kobe's are rare and most of the time you will still get your save. People don't attempt this (or at least I don't) because it would obviously be better for a save with the chance of being saved with BT activated. It sounds like the person leaving the hooked person for dead (if they don't kobe) is more selfish because they didn't get what they want one time. People only really try this if they can do it and get away with it, meaning the killer isn't around or the team is in a good spot to be silly.

I say "To let them know that fun is illegal in DBD?" as an exaggeration btw you know just a little joke. But is the fun completely and utterly ruined for the person who wanted to get a save? It shouldn't, but that is what is apparently.

  • @ohheyitsbobcat said:

If it succeeds, it denies the unhooker points, emblems, perks like deliverance, we'll make it and borrowed, and it wasted their time to come get you. Also, it's generally scene as toxic by most since it's usually done as a means to go "haha" to whoever tried to unhook you. You ever see streamers do it? It's to mess with their friends. When I do it with friends and succeed the first words out of my mouth is "get #########". Simply put, it's annoying with randoms since there is no reason to do it other then to deny the unhooker stuff and go haha about it.

Should the person leave you on hook if you try it? No, of course they shouldn't. I see it in a similar realm as t-bagging except if you succeed you can sometimes dick over a teammate depending on what they're running. It's pretty insignificant the majority of the time though.

On the extreme end of it, if you attempt to kobe and put yourself in 2nd state when someone is about to get you, you deserve to be left on the hook.

Yeah going into second hook trying to kobe though is pretty douchey, but most people aren't doing that. They attempt kobe when they know someone will get there in time for them not to go into second stage. Besides, it is not like survivors have a hard time ranking up at all. Unless they just downloaded the game, survivors who shouldn't be at high ranks (not yammering about them or telling them they are trash at the game and how they don't deserve to be at the red ranks btw) will be at high ranks because of how dumb the mmr system is right now.

As for the perks yeah that might be the only other problem to this as well as wasting the saviors' time to come over for the save. But keep in mind that this is solo queue, NOTHING gets done most of the time anyways so it is not like you are going to throw the game because you can also assume that the killer is not good. Even if the killer was good though, it is still solo queue and you would probably have died regardless.

  • @TicTac said:

Yeah i let them die for that. Why not?

But on a serious note, you can decide to kobe and the other survivor can decide to not unhook you. Its funny when people see it and regret trying to kobe.

But why? Why are people so upset over something that didn't happen? By letting them die on hook because they only attempted to kobe, you are doing everyone way more harm that they apparently did to you by simply trying to kobe.

  • @keygun said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1799433#Comment_1799433

I already explained all this in the thread, but I'll give you the short version.

Trying to deny someone a hook save when they 10 get away is greedy, thus toxic.

Letting it go, encourages the problem. It may hurt my team to punish those greedy players, but how else will they learn?

And why aren't y'all asking yourselves this simple question...

Why are you trying to Kobe in the first place? Just to see if you're 4% lucky? Why not, idk, just stop doing it?

If it's not a big deal, why defend it?

Sooo because you don't get your points you are willing to throw the game for something that doesn't actually happen all the time just to spite the person not letting you get a few measly points?

Why am I, along with everyone else trying, to kobe in the first place you ask? Well, simply put it is fun and funny to do so. And yeah, to see if we get lucky. It is exhilarating and cool to see ourselves get off a hook without help.

Never said it was a big deal, but implied that it was dumb how someone would throw the game for something that didn't happen. However for you it seems that this is a big deal. I am defending it because you are ruining other people's game experience far more than they are doing the same to you. In fact, it shouldn't even be a problem to you considering how rare it actually happens.

  • @Rydog said:

Why do people call it this? ######### is the origin of the term "Kobe" as it pertains to jumping off of a hook in Dead by Daylight? Is this related to Kobe Bryant? Is basketball somehow related to Dead by Daylight? Is this just some stupid millennial zoomer thing?

(Also, yeah, people complain about too many things being toxic.)

I have no idea why it is called kobeing lol, probably something to do with Kobe Bryant (rip)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1799368#Comment_1799368

I'll admit it's petty, but their actions deserve consequences.

If you don't want the toxicity, don't be toxic.

First of all, how is trying to kobe toxic? I guarantee you the person behind the screen attempting to yeet his character Jake off the hook not putting him into second stage, but only speeding up the sacrificial stage faster is not trying to be "toxic". Besides, you will be right there to save him, or not since you seem to despise the 4% hook yeet.

And second, being toxic to someone doesn't solve toxicity, it only makes it worse. In a situation like this, the certain individual who lets the person go into the second stage is the toxic person. Why? Because the person is screwing their whole team by letting the killer get more value out of one hook. The person on the hook is innocent if you just sit there and watch them go into second stage. I would be willing to bet that they will just kill themselves on purpose quickly even if you save them afterwards.

"Their actions deserve consequences" Wow, do you mind explaining this one? Not sure how trying to kobe harms anyone. Sure, the only thing I can think of that would be bad about this is that you spent your time crossing the map just to do nothing. But is it really that bad? Survivors have it pretty easy most of the time, so wasting a little time (like 30-40 secs at most) would not even ruin the game.

  • Letting someone reach second stage because they tried to Kobe are u kidding me? Why is this becoming more common? You are doing more harm to your team than they are.

I’m sorry but I’m trying not to be mean but there’s a reason this person was banned this person was a narcissistic bad person he was bad cause he never brought up good points he would just harass and insult the devs while being the most biased killer main on earth literally if you watch one of its videos they never mention the survivor side you can tell this person does not care about balance he just wants killer to be press a button to win instantly. Even though this update was terrible I’m happy they don’t listen to him cause this game would have Ben even worse.

    you forgot the /s

  • Entirely up to the survivors if you want this challenge to be done, even a decent survivor will last 30 seconds even more so two in whatever map you are in. What I want to know is who designed this challenge.

  • And how do you know this?

  • The effect is strong, but the requirements to even use the perk is outrageous.

  • Maybe, depends on what they do in the next 6 months to the game.

Keep in mind they were already doing kind of bad before the pandemic.

  • I feel like all he needs are good addons and some lethality to his power. Currently, he does a great job injuring multiple survivors (ignoring the bug with him for now) and finding people, but he has no help capitalizing on that.

Right now, he is not bad. He is in the middle of the killer tier lists. It is possible to do good with him.

  • Probably because the killer is not pressuring survivors properly. But again, this is because there are clearly weaker and stronger killers.

  • Maybe, I feel like having a chase ability and map traversal ability could get a bit stale in terms of diversity. Maybe for some killers there should be just one base ability that helps them in a chase and get around like Oni or hillbilly. But not a bad idea, having a power for map pressure and chasing potential sounds nice, just remember that a mix of both can be interesting and keep things (ideas or abilities of killers) much more fresh and unique.

  • @Zaytex said:

    I'll play devil's advocate here.

Thank them for what? For the non-existent balance patches that we get every other year?

For countless bugs that come with every chapter release, that are clearly defined in the PTB, but go unfixed and straight to live server?

For countless constructive feedback about their game, only to be told that they know what's best for their game (when they clearly do not) and proceed to make changes that are 9/10 times bad?

For RELEASING new content that requires the consumer's money, where the majority of the new content isn't even playable. That's the most bullshit move they could do, and then, they act defensive about it and even ban people on their discord/forums who give feedback or expose them on this.

I'm sorry, but what am I supposed to thank them for? Sure, this game is fun and is unique, but that alone doesn't excuse their horrible behaviour and incompetence over these years when it comes to the game.

I'm all for praising people and promoting positivity, but telling them "thank you" when this new chapter is literally unplayable is just a synonym for "It's okay for you to give us unfinished content, we'll give you our money and praise no matter how much you disrespect us or show how little you care."

Agreed. I am sure the devs are good people. But the changes they have made and the issues they have ignored and continue to ignore (such as DS) has made most people incredibly frustrated. Just look at this chapter, it is a cluster of loads of bugs as well as an unfinished killer that is also bugged. Right now, appraisal is the last thing the devs need, they need critical feedback that they actually listen to community and core issues with the game. But you know what? They haven't, just look at the QnA stream they just had. They just ignored DS for the most part and of course dodged questions regarding this chapter; we can tell because there was not a single question about the negative impact of the new chapter. I don't mean to sound like those people on the forums, but they really do need to fix this game.

  • Remember to keep it simple and use perks that you like because of how you like to play.

For example, running brutal strength on doctor and clown is great because above average survivors like to pre-throw pallets against those killers especially. It is also good for aggressive killer builds on killers such as wraith or legion.

What you should know is that the best perks are the perks that give you 2 great benefits which include:

    • Finding survivors faster so that you can kill them faster(BBQ, whispers, *any other good tracking perk)
    • Good regression on gens (ruin + undying and PGTW)
  • Legion, blight, and demo.

Legion can keep multiple survivors injured and do it quite easily.

Blight has great map traversal abilities and can use his power in certain loops. Very good if you can land your hits while moving fast.

Demo's shred ability isn't used correctly by most people, they tend to constantly hold it down and never really bait survivors using it. It is actually amazing once you learn how to use it in a chase properly.

  • if you don't like this happening, then run discordance. Also if there are more people on a gen and you scare them off, then you will be pressuring half or more of the team at once which is beneficial for you.

  • Yeah she is definitely in need of a rework.

Her ambush was supposed to be used to maybe sneak up on survivors on a gen, but it is actually much more useful when using it in a chase. her traps are useful, but they are just way too RNG dependent. Most of her addons are also very bad in general, like seriously her best addons are the combat straps and shattered syringe both of which are brown tier addons. At least you can spam them though.

If you are a new piggy main or just want to learn the pig, I highly suggest watching this guide linked below. The guide is very good and will explain everything you should know about the pig.

(Don't worry about the video being an hour long, there are plenty of timestamps to get you where you want to be)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UOlX6azR3A&ab_channel=Scorpionz

  • You shouldn't really buy with money, but rather unlock one of them with in-game currency. Spirit is stronger, but because her power is kinda busted honestly. Oni however, is a very balanced killer, he is very good at snowballing if you slap infectious fright on him. Personally, I like oni more because he is just more fun to play and strong, spirit is fun but I just like Oni more.

I suggest waiting until you have enough shards to buy Oni. I say use shards to purchase something from BHVR because they have done a very poor job on the game lately in case you couldn't tell. Giving them money will just encourage them to keep doing what they are doing, a trash job at being game devs. But you can do whatever you want, I just suggest getting shards and purchasing who you want.

I would go with Oni for the fact that people DC less.

  • @tykelley said:

I don't understand the devs, did they just say "let's just make a game for money" and just make a whole ######### ton of skins and a ######### ton of bugs, hoping to get popular, because I can't even play the new ######### killer without victor sinking into the ground, I paid $8 for this garbage chapter and can't even play the game right, please fix your ######### game

Why did you pay for garbage that you knew was garbage before you bought the garbage?

  • This guy sounds like the teammate to DC when they are the first to be downed and then rant on the forums about how OP killers are when facing a bubba.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Spirit having Stridor is perfectly balanced. People should stop using that glorified sound bug called Iron Will to cheat their way out of chases because they're scared to loop a 110 killer.

Hag, I can't argue with. She sucks to go against. Literal ranged camping as a killer power. Why isn't she locked out of placing a trap until she's a certain distance away from the hook, like The Twins?

Deathslinger's low terror radius can simply be countered by Spine Chill, and his chases countered by not giving him LoS and moving left and right. He can't pressure the gens unless you're giving him really easy chases.

The Twins are the funnest killer to go against right now. You can kill Victor, even when he lands a successful hit. You have to keep in mind where Victor and Charlotte are, which is way more manageable than keeping track of Hag and Trapper traps.

Spirit with stridor - Not sure how this is balanced in any way, survivors use iron will because it is one of the few perks that are meta and effective. Same goes for killer. You can't loop a spirit who knows what they are doing that much. There is no counter to a good spirit, bad spirits are the reason people think she has counter play.

  • How do they choose questions? Do they have a place where everyone submits a question or do they read them off the stream chat in twitch?

I didn't see most of the livestream, but remember who we are dealing with. My guess would be errrpffftmmmmmayybe? They might have at least brought it up once.

  • The relationship I have with dbd is a hate/love. I hate it because of all the major issues. But love it because it is a very unique horror game that is really interesting and just fun. I mean come on, I have gotten to the point where if it is obvious that I am up against a SWF team I still know I will do good. The feeling of winning against a SWF is great, I can challenge people who are really good and outplay them against the odds that are against me. That is one thing I love about this game. However, it is painful to watch how the BHVR treats us, and dbd.

  • 146 bugs. Now that is just ridiculous. I wonder what the devs think of this.

  • It doesn't really matter if you can memorize where they are in the map. Just play him often and keep track of where you are in the map when you cage someone. They are unable to be seen because it used to be very easy for him to tunnel someone out of the game.

Maybe, but I would like custom chase music. Maybe even a slight remix for the basic one. I mean, just listen to mr envy's custom made music. It would be awesome if that was in the game.

  • I agree, an actual custom game where you can have admin-like abilities. Example: You can replace and reset pallets, windows, generators etc. Anything that lets you figure out how to play the game and what you can use to your advantage.
