You do make good points, but it still doesn't explain the whole Halloween "event" in October. Or things coup de grace nerf. The devs might not be fully at fault, but remember that they did release a broken chapter intentionally while knowing what could happen.

Great idea...however looking at it shortly you'll see it encourages slugging for a 4k style gameplay. Not that that isnt common, just it's something that would cause a lot more division in a game that already has a lot of division in it already
True, but like you said this isn't common. By the time they would find the last guy (if they did), the slugged person would already have bled out meaning they don't get the mori they want. If not then eh, you probably would have died regardless.

I'd rather not see moris ever became base kit like this. Even like this, it may not seem that bad but it does make decisive strike useless.
And yeah, I know killers hate DS (Myself included) but DS is supposed to be an escape option in desperate measures. A killer having base kit mori that could potentially make that entire perk slot a survivor brought obsolete would feel bad (I'm trying to feel both sides here) and be unfair.
Personally what I really want to see are more perks like Rancor and Devour Hope that give the potential to mori. I'm actually shocked we haven't gotten any new ones. My only guess is that they're probably very scared to add perks that can enable moris since that might be scary to balance but I mean.. Rancor and Devour Hope are perfectly fine in their current state.
But DS doesn't even get used every game though, you could play a few games and the killer would just ignore or slug you to avoid it. It doesn't make DS useless because it happens at the end of the game. If you are the last person, I am not sure how DS would come into play.

Moris were not nerfed or buffed. They were just attached to a stipulation to make you play fair.
You can still tunnel someone out of the game, it just takes longer now. They were definitely nerfed, just not creatively.

Better perks can be introduced, Meta perks can be nerfed... why is the meta still the same meta from years ago?
Because BHVR, I hate to say it but that really is the reason. Perks like SB, DH, Adrenaline just completely overshadow most of the perks. The latest ones are just lacking in effectiveness and creativity. They won't change because the devs won't change. :(

Competition drives innovation, this has always been true. They would actually need to listen to us(collectively) a hell of a lot more if there was stiffer competition. Shame that last year game didn't take off.
Yeah I see, but this is only if dbd actually gets competition.

It's all RNG, it can feel demoralizing to not win a coin flip and be murdered.
For example imagine the matchmaking screws up as usual and you're matched with bad teammates who do nothing, they all die, and then the killer finds the hatch, and shuts it. The exit gates spawn so close that you can't do anything, or they're playing trapper, or twins, or whatever.
They either find you or the endgame collapse gets you, you get moried regardless, and lose without there being anything you can do.
I solo que, this happens a lot more then anyone in their right mind think should, and it's very demoralizing.
I want Cypress to become basekit, but before that I want the matchmaking fixed.
I see what you mean, I also mainly play solo survivor. The base kit mori doesn't really seem to be the problem here though because bad teammates and exit gate RNG is another issue entirely that happens to make the mori feel even more unfair and helpless. I am pretty sure they will come out with some sort of mmr system soon (next 3 months or next big update), I really hope it comes out soon. Even a decent mmr system will be an improvement.

Pffffft, an asymmetrical horror survival 5 player play-with-your-friends competitor with just as much impact on the community as dead by daylight? I know it sounds sarcastic. but its impossible for a competitor to come in. Every BIG horror name has already sold out to dbd. I imagine in the contract it says something like, "You can only sell out to our game."
Exactly, and they still hardly give the game the love it needs and could definitely use. I am telling you this game could be in the top ten most played games on steam (it already almost is and got really close at one point) and become a very popular game. It just need rebalancing, a little new content (such as new mechanics in game for one), and some creative aspects to it and you got a game that is amazing. But that is all stuff that will happen over time if at all. They just started to work on clown and wraith to buff them. But at least they are finally doing it.

I'm pretty sure they know it or else this game would be in a better state.Competition would actually force them to do better or else they would risk losing to the competitor
True, but that sounds good for us though. They would suddenly come out with good changes to the game to keep up with their competitor which means they would actually fix the game. But then again, this is unlikely to happen.

I would say yes, only having an issue with one aspect;
If the survivor loses the hatch search, and has poor gate spawn, they have no chance to escape, and then the killer gets to kill them.
It's not a major issue but it's demoralizing to survivors to be killed in such a way, I would know, I was there for the original mori/iri head/noed huntresses who head nod and spam chat with rude statements. Having a killer slaughter you regardless of how well you played is going to be a pretty big ego smasher, and if I know anything about survivor main egos, it's that they DC, spam chat, and stop playing the game.
They are kind of dead regardless though. But yeah, gate spawns can be pretty BS and unfair for survivors sometimes. Still, if you find hatch first they still have a chance of escaping through the gates.

I know it is unlikely. I personally tend to use perks no one else does (from the dlcs I have, not the "common" ones). It's just a single touch, but it's fun because the killers normally don't expect anyone to use flip flop, so they don't even "stress" that much when going to a hook far away. I think it's fun hahahaha.
Actually, I expect literally everything from survivors. I may not panic about it, but I am always watching for sneaky moves. For example, a really satisfying thing I like to do is when I slug a survivor for a short time and down someone else, I go back to the first one who crawled onto a pallet. This immediately makes me think that they have unbreakable and want to use it and drop the pallet on my face, so I lunge right before I go to pick them up and down them if they attempt to do it to hit them. It has happened twice to me, but it was incredibly satisfying and boosted my ego for a good while afterwards. Same thing for other cheesy survivor jukes like the CJ tech, or locker-flashlight tech.
I always have a little feeling in my chest when expecting flip flop to come into play, but for as long as it has been around I have not seen it work like that once.
-
Before people cry about the change to moris remember, would you rather be moried off of first hook, or second?
-
"Until now, i used moris to compensate for swf and bad matchmaking which paired me against players with a much higher skill level. With that no longer an option, i will not play killer until i get fair matches where i don´t need them."
I am feeling bait vibes from this sentence.
-
@JinSime said:
My sincere thought is no.
I've been running flip flop with tenacity. I've escaped like 2 times from the killer grasp when I was the last one alive, due to the famous slug for the 4k and got the hatch while running away.
It's not a regular thing, but I don't think you should have a power that denies my perks like that base-kit (I mean, flip flop for me usually just works for me in situations like that). As an offering, I think it is ok, because you consumed something for it, if it makes sense.
That still seems pretty uncommon to happen. I can understand being able to wiggle out with help from tenacity and flip flop, but that combination is pretty rare to see.
But hey, idk much about that perk combo since I have played tons of hours and never seen that come into play, usually people just use unbreakable + soul guard in my face, so I can't really say for sure if flip flop + tenacity is more common than I think. Then again, I still don't see this perk combo often at all. I will start taking into account how often I see flip flop and tenacity, even though I can guarantee you that I will not see it at all for like 20 games. Who knows?
-
It may be lazy, but would you rather be killed off of first or second hook?
-
@PlantCollector said:
Im not really a fan of that idea. That encourages killers to slug to get the mori animation if only 2 survivors are remaining.
Some people already want their 4k so badly that they will extend a match for 10+ mins and if you add a animation for that you can bet they want it even more.
Not something im looking forward to.
But how would slugging activate it though? It would only work if 3 survivors were sacrificed, if you moried or bleed out survivors you wouldn't get use out of the mori.
-
Agreed, it may not be the best change, but it is the best change we have had to the game in a while.
-
Spine chill > premonition
Premonition is like spine chill but with a cooldown and weaker. Besides, spine chill can be combined with resilience for vault speed especially with other buffs too.
-
it is fine
-
I made a post about this. My suggestion was to make the yellow mori base kit but only allow the killer to use it if they have sacrificed all other survivors. It makes sense with the lore "You worked well, the last one is yours", and would make mori's much more common as a mechanic rather than something that is unfair. So you would see this in action much more often since the yellow mori's are just really uncommon to get usage out of.
With this change, you would also get the same amount of bloodpoints and emblem progress as you would if they were hooked and killed. Meaning if you never hooked the survivor you are about to use the yellow mori on, you will still get the same amount of bloodpoints as you would have gotten sacrificing them as well as the emblem progress.

And like I said. No. You still have a chance to escape. And this totally negates DS. “lol”
Think about it, the only situation you could have a slight chance of using DS with this mori change is if you are saved by the second to last survivor (you are the only ones left) but the killer comes up to the hook decides to not hit you because they fear BT. So they get the other person, put them on the hook, and they die. Then you start running for your life. That is the only situation you could be in where you could have a slight chance to use DS. And you know what? The killer would just slug you anyways, so I am not sure how this totally negates DS. Also, when I said the chance of you wiggling off was rare, I meant it was really really rare to the point where you could probably play for a good 900 hours and never see it happen to you. DS is useless in this case if the killer has a brain.
-
They are fine right now because anything is better than the now old mori. I am not sure what creative yet balanced change could be implemented for them though.

i didn’t see/register the part where you said “only if all other survivors have been sacrificed”
I said it when I explained the possible new version of the yellow mori. "The could-be base kit mori: Allows you to kill the last remaining survivor in the trial only if all other survivors have been sacrificed. Grants you as many points as you would have gotten if they were hooked and sacrificed." I did say "please read first" lol.
-
@APoipleTurtle said:
I'm going to say "yes, but"...
...I don't think the Cypress Mori should be purely thrust into the base-game as a bonus for sacrificing everyone else.
I would much rather see it implemented as a reward earned for playing an excellent match as killer. Instead of tying it to sacrifices, I would say you could mori the final survivor left in the trial if you achieved at least 9-10 Hook Actions (including PH's Cages) in the trial.
This would allow you to earn your mori even if one survivor happened to escape (creating brutal consequences for the survivor abandoned by their teammate) while also preventing overly-campy killers from being rewarded with this flourish.
It wouldn't be something most people would earn every match, but this also wouldn't be a particularly special reward if it was easy to get. Plus I'd be interested to see just how far mercy-hatch generosity will extend if it means trading off a well-earned mori.
Good idea but I still feel like this could be a wee bit strong. You would only be able to get this if everyone has been hooked twice (if not, then you were probably going to win anyways by killing someone really early on) with one of the survivors being sacrificed. This means that the remaining match becomes a 3v1 but the killer can mori the next survivor he/she finds, giving very little room for error on the survivor side. Most of the time at high ranks, you are still probably going to struggle to get everyone hooked the right amount of times. This might get confusing now that I think of it.
-
I love nodding my head at survivors if they were being toxic or just to be funny which happens most of the time. Have you ever experienced the deathslinger reeling headbang? It is so funny to experience. My favorite killers that do this are deathslinger if he is reeling you in, demo, and billy.
-
@zackdaylight said:
No I don’t like that. As the last survivor you still have a chance to wiggle off and escape. I’ve done it multiple times and I’ve seen other people do that. What they could do for the yellow one, is make it so that you’re able to Mori 1 person even if they aren’t the last survivor. Regardless of whether or not they’ve been hooked. Of course that is, after the doors have been powered.
Let's be honest though, it is extremely rare to wiggle off like that. Even if you do, you will probably be slaughtered fairly quickly. I can't remember the last time that has happened to me even in general gameplay. I feel like your suggested change is a bit too similar to the green variation and can allow a killer to get an undeserved and unfair kill in the endgame especially since it doesn't require the survivor to be hooked.
-
Depends on how you use it. If you are going for flashlight saves, or blinding the killer in an animation then it is not toxic. It is considered toxic if you are using it to annoy killers with the click sound.
-
Like I have said on other posts, it is so much better than what we have now and to keep in mind that we are dealing with BHVR here. They aren't exactly the best when it comes to things like these, but they are capable of making good changes.

I think they were overnerfed to the point of useless. As a player whom went from killer main to 50/50 survivor to trending toward survivor main, i think the moris were powerful but forced you to adapt a different playstyle. It sucked being morid off first hook but i always took saw it as a challenge to do as much as possible before the inevitable end. Now they dont change the game at all except for making DS a little less powerful.
Bad change in my opinion. Ebony mori are now not worth the 7k bloodpoints.
Like I said, it is better than what we have right now. I really do believe there is a much better and balanced change that could work for moris.
-
@BigBrainMegMain said:
No, Moris are your excuse to use when someone has a key.
Moris are easy mode and any excuse killers get to use them, they'll use the excuse.
Thank Jesus for the nerf, now you actually have to put in work for your Mori, because with keys, some gens, some work has to be put into before using them.
Keys still need to be reworked though. The fact that survivors can all escape if they play their cards right is kind of ridiculous. But the moris definitely needed a nerf.

I think the nerf was too much as Moris are mechanically useless now. Moris have been nerfed twice while keys haven’t been touched.
You are right. I feel like there is a more creative approach to a change like this. But would you rather be morried off of first hook, or second? Like I have said before, having the yellow mori be basekit and only work if you kill 3 of the 4 survivors via sacrificing them. That way, we see more mori action in game without creating unbalanced gameplay since if the last person is caught they are dead regardless.

How long have we waited? How many creative ideas were posted here? As someone who gave one myself its rather degrading the only option they went with was changing a 1 to a 2..the path of least resistance , thats all this was worth to them?
But what do you expect from BHVR? They don't really listen to us about anything really, at least they are changing the nuclear options. You have to remember that BHVR doesn't really take into account (for the most part) our suggestions, and even if they acknowledge them they are still just that, suggestions. Obviously, I would say that there are loads of other better options instead of what the devs did, but it is still better than what we have now.

it ended the round early for them because they lost to me hunting them? I get punished by less points, kills gran 1k and keys grant 5k with an extra 2.5k to obj and more on Survival for a hatch escape or whatever
Yes, but think about it. First of all, that is not fun for the survivor about to be killed, and second, it favors the rest of the match to the killer. But it takes very little skill to have this happen. All you do is ignore the BT and down them again, or just straight up down them with help from insidious or stealth as a stealth killer. Of course, I am not saying that if you run a mori then you have 0 skill, but the fact that moriiing survivors like that is so easy makes it pretty unbalanced. Keys are also pretty BS too.
As for the points, they just need to make some changes for both sides honestly. It is so hard for some killers and a bit tricky for survivors in general to get a good amount of points.
-
@immortalls96 said:
This mori change was a disgrace and an insult
Explain why please.
-
They are working on keys next and the mori change was good. It was good because it was completely unfair to immediately take a survivor out of the game. At least keys require them to do gens. For killer, a hook is almost always much easier and faster to get than a generator which makes the mori's stronger than keys.
-
@Callmehandsome said:
Yes, but they should have released key and mori nerfs same time. This makes them look obviously very biased.
Agreed, but this is the first time in a while that we have gotten a major balance change. We are lucky they even did this. I also believe that they are a little biased towards survivors, but right now I think it is best to just be patient. Things are starting to look up and I hope everyone can stay calm and civil about this.
-
@SasukeKun said:
No it was not, Survivors dont wanna die in dead by daylight and they just heed the complaints from noob players with Dead hard, DS<, unbreakable, adrenaline
So you are telling me that this was not a good change because they just listen to survivors 100% of the time? Are you also implying that the old mori's were fair? Because if so, that is not true. The fact that a killer can hook a survivor and immediately kill them after they are downed again is just outrageously unfair.
-
what was the nerf and also WHAT??? Was not expecting something like this from BHVR
