Just give an option menu with all the cheevos and when you want one, you just check the box next to it. Not like they matter anyway.

Ditto. Not a charm. Weapon for Plague.
That's incredible.
-
Is that really the flavor text for overcharge? That doesn't make any sense for doctor at all.
My take on this build is that it's tired and just doesn't work after a certain MMR. Totems are gone after the first twenty seconds of the match. Merciless does little even when it does proc and good survivors simply don't miss skill checks.
Overall it's a good build for making new players come on the forums and whine about it. Doesn't do anything to seasoned ones.
-
They spent all their dev bandwidth on stuff that nobody asked for instead of doing common sense perk and killer buffs. Super disappointed.
-
Ah, on demand sprint burst.
-
Outside of the dastardly no good evil killer player theme of this post, I also preferred the old ranks.
-
It nerfs legion, which is obviously unnecessary.
The whole "mending simulator" thing is vastly overblown anyway. You'd think after a couple times folks would learn to simply leave and play away from their teammates. But why change your gameplay when you can have your mistakes catered to, right?

I have a ton, and I don't even directly farm them.
Oh yeah. Considering how often I go out of my way to not tunnel, not camp and be extremely nice only to be told to harm myself in the endgame it's absolutely inevitable to get -rep. People just can't stand lose and always shift blame.
Couldn't have lost just because you're sorta bad at the video game, right? No of course not. Must be those pesky killers camping and tunneling.
-
God I wish I had this game on steam. Harvesting -rep seems like such a fun minigame.
-
Because blight serum kills survivors. A blighted version of Leon Kennedy may be seen whenever blight performs a mori on him, for example.
-
I agree completely. It feels lame to just be taken out of the game through little fault of your own. And I'd say 70-80% of Myers run these addons. Rarely see one without.
-
People call everything camping. If I walk by a survivor I hooked on my way to a gen I'm camping. If I do anything that's not sit in the furthest possible corner until the unhook happens it's camping.
OP's post has no content. It's not an anecdote. It's not a solution or feedback. It's just that they don't like a nebulous thing that may or may not happen. The blandest complaining possible.
-
Sounds like you're hiding all game and expecting everyone else to run the killer while you hold m1.
-
It's already a solid post. It doesn't need the duration doubled.
-
It's also incredibly easy to dead hard blight compared to most killers. They tend to lunge out of rush nearly every time and his lunge is clearly telegraphed.
-

Its clear that you didn't read the post. I went over why add-ons don't actually facilitate build diversity on most killers. And yes some killers would lose some viability but here is the neat part.. If add-ons don't exist it becomes significantly easier to balance killers abilities.
In the past killers that relied heavily on add-ons have had those add-ons added to their basekit. Wraith for example has, multiple times, had windstorm added to their basekit because they weren't viable without it. The same could be done to every killer that relies on specific add-ons.
I did read the post. You're simply wrong.
-
If wanna cut down the viability of like half the killers in the game and severely reduce build diversity, sure.

Hacker accounts? On Stadia? Do you know how Stadia works?
Also, nobody's losing any progress since Stadia is the one platform that has cross-progression with Steam. The really bad thing about this is that I no longer have a way to play DBD.
I'm a Linux user. My computer ran DBD fine when I was dual-booting Windows, but Windows kept becoming a security risk. The only game that didn't run on Windows anymore was DBD due to EAC, so when BHVR announced that DBD was getting Proton support, I went ahead and deleted my Windows partition in anticipation. That was... what, a year ago? And according to Mandy, we shouldn't get out hopes up anytime soon.
Stadia wasn't so bad. For game streaming, it was blazing fast. I've been averaging an 80% kill rate. A few games on GeForce Now (where input lag is much more severe) and I'm lucky to get 1-2K because I can't hit #########.
I faithfully buy all the DLCs and every rift. I try not to get mad and blame the developers like half the people on this forum every time a minor update doesn't go my way. I've poured thousands of hours of my life into this game, and now I'm not going to get to play it anymore after January.
If it ever gets Proton support, I'll be back, but until then, there are other games to play. VHS is fun, but inferior. White Noise 2 and Horror Legends are awesome, but they don't have a sizable playerbase. Evil Dead was amazing, but they added EAC recently, and now I can't play that game despite buying it for full price on release date (hopefully we get Proton support when the Steam version drops next year).
VHS isn't as great (it's goofy and the killer designs are uninspired), but at least they already support Proton, and it has a playerbase. Reinstalling it now.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3213012#Comment_3213012
It wasn't. It was a good product, better than competitors', but they fumbled absolutely everything in the early stages of the project's release.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3213048#Comment_3213048
The silver lining is that it looks like we will. Their terms are pretty generous; we can keep the hardware, and everything other than the monthly subscription is being refunded.
Holy hell. A stadia user in the wild.
-
It's not a basketball game. It's asymmetrical. You're way overthinking this.
Balance is impossible. At best we have a reasonable approximation of it and you know what? That's good enough. DBD is not meant to be taken ultra seriously. It's for fun. Perks and killers should be fun in some capacity first and and foremost.

Oh, I definitely don't trust user-generated aggregation sites.

Xbox and steam cross progression are my concern. I own the stranger things dlc on steam but not gamepass, but all my game progress is on gamepass.

i play 95% soloQ and these are the most used survivor perks by others i play with (from most to least used):
- Windows of Opportunity
- Dead Hard
- Lithe
- Prove Thyself
- Boon: Circle of Healing
- Adrenaline
- Self-Care
- Sprint Burst
- Kindred
- Unbreakable
- Off the Record
- Borrowed Time
- Quick & Quiet
- Resilience
- Decisive Strike
- Lightweight
- Balanced Landing
- Iron Will
- Bond
- Urban Evasion
- Botany Knowledge
- Spine Chill
- Empathy
- Head On
Do you actually have data on this? That's really interesting.
OP, I think Windows is really good to know what resources your team has used. Empathy also lets you know how chases are going, vastly underrated.
-
Other stuff while I'm thinking about it: why change the zones great skill checks appear in.... And then add an option to disable it? Everyone would simply disable it. Pointless.
Making it so certain perk synergies are outright disabled is inelegant and frankly boring game design.
You just juggled stuff around on nurse. She'd still be the best killer in the game by far.
Merciless storm on every gen is trivially countered by bringing a toolbox and only using it on the last 10% of the gen, dramatically reducing the duration of the skill checks. Pointless.
Overall incredible survivor buffs for the sake of BBQ base and nebulous map changes we both know wouldn't actually solve any problems.
Edit: oh yeah, blindness is now pointless. A neutered version of nightfall? Doesn't counter Windows, which is the primary utility of the status effect? In fact windows now counters it. Lol. Making a bad status effect worse for vague solo queue reasons.
-
Most of this is just power creep. Not every perk needs to be a game-defining event.
You're taking all the guesswork and mistakes out of survivor communication. This affects solos very strongly, but gives swf incredible tools as well. Only the sweatiest swf is constantly updating everyone about the location of the gen they're working on, where they are in chase or what the killer is doing. You've made any sort of miscommunication impossible. You've buffed solo and made every swf a try hard sweat squad.
At this point you may as well give the survivors limitless aura reading on their allies at all times and also constant aura reading on the killer. That's essentially what you've done, with extra steps.
People think they want this, but in if it were actually implemented the game would die a quick death. Communication punctuates the actions you do in game. Hearing your friends be surprised or being tilted cuz another friend miscommunicated is the biggest part of fun in the game. Your version of DBD would just be watching auras while making small talk. A sterile experience.
-
You think doctor is better than artist by a large margin.
Lol.
-
It's vastly uninteresting to play as and against. Get rid of it and give her common sense buffs.

ahhh so in a team game ignore the team and just hope to get the hatch at the end, gotcha, perfectly designed game :D
Obviously you don't like the team aspect of the game, so you should do what you can to mitigate it. If you're gonna stress out over your team playing suboptimally then you need to not worry about them.
-
Boo hoo solo survivor hard 😥😥😥
Just like any multiplayer PvP title sometimes you carry and sometimes you get carried. Sometimes you just lose. That's okay. It's not a big deal what your team is doing, worry about what you can do.
-
Okay. I'll go down this one line by line as well.
This may be controversial but I do not care about map offerings or items. They don't matter to me. Sometimes it's fun to play vs. survivors on a map of their choosing and win anyway. I do think white ward should be much more common though.
You've butchered prove thyself. It's merely a good perk and doesn't deserve that.
Dead hard is already a good perk and doesn't need any buffs. I still see it every game.
So circle works to mitigate the medkit nerfs from earlier? Hard pass. I'd rather just have shattered hope base.
Iron will. Like many of my opinions, my take is rather unpopular. Iron will was absolutely busted and I'm glad it got nerfed. Also unpopular? It's still good. It's good to have a perk with anti-exhastion synergy.
Reassurance? Good change! It should definitely work per hook state. This is what I would do with the perk.
I don't have an opinion about hyperfocus. I'm not certain the meta around it has settled enough to determine how powerful it is.
Self care. Seems you're negating the medkit nerfs from earlier again. Why propose them and then immediately do away with them via a couple perks? Very odd.
Buckle up. Very interesting change. I like it! I prefer stuff that encourages survivors to work together without giving them everything wholesale.
Dance with me: you're turning it into a second chance perk. Surv messes up and still gets a fast vault. This would be hard meta, extending chases like old dead hard did. No thank you.
Calm spirit. Yeah it definitely doesn't need the speed penalty. Dunno what they were thinking.
Dstrike: you're literally buffing it from it's previous incarnation. It doesn't only affect "tunneling killers". The obnoxious aspect of it was using it offensively and you're doubling down on that. Just make it 5s and call it a day.
Head on doesn't need buffs. It's fun and I run it all the time.
Kinship. You made it base earlier, so whatever. Nobody would run it because they don't need to.
Bite the bullet is already low-key good. It doesn't need buffs. Especially one that completely counters an entire suite of killer perks on demand.
Visionary? Yeah sure. Nobody would still run it
Deja Vu. Good theming, but every killer exposed ability is earned and conditional. You probably wouldn't see it often, but when you do it would be absolutely infuriating. Frustrating moments in the game should be curtailed, not encouraged.
Solidarity. Keeping with your general theme of making it easier for survivors to work together and encouraging it. I like it.
Okay. Next.
Call of brine. You've butchered the perk. 15% is actually a deceptively big numerical change. The perk is conditional: a killer has to find and kick and gen and not have a hovering survivor immediately tap it. Not worth it anymore, especially since you removed the base kicking speed increase with the last one.
Overcharge is fine. Tap the gen.
Dead lock. It's fine how it is. Easy to counter after you realize the killer has it: simply split progress across gens and it's irrelevant.
Penti. So the reward for having a survivor cleanse a totem, going out of my way to light it at a location the survivor is already aware of and can simply break is.....half of it's previous value? Lol. Nobody would run this. It's awful and far too conditional for that reward.
Jolt doesn't need buffs, especially since the m2 buff would mostly negate going into a locker to counter it.
Eruption definitely needs either this nerf or similar. Doing nothing for 25s feels horrible.
Noed is already dead. Please stop grinding the corpse into mush.
Pain res. Scream, don't scream. I don't care. I'm just sick it it going back and forth all the time.
DMS doesn't need a buff. It's an easy to proc stall perk.
Whew. Okay.
Iron grasp: sure whatever. Nobody is still gonna run it outside of meme builds.
Fire up. My idea is to just make it start with a token this is fine too.
Brutal: sure. Conversely leader and resilience should make blessings faster. Consistency.
Agitation. Uhhh.. Okay? This is hardly even a buff. Or anything.
Mad grit: I don't see why this has to be once. It's a weak effect.
Grim embrace could definitely use this or similar.
Lullaby: I'd have to play with it to see if it's actually consequential but I like the gist.
Overwhelming. I like it as it is as part of the suite of terror radius perks. There aren't enough of those imo.
Oppression: that's a neat niche you've found for it. Could work!
That's an interesting way to take Coup. I'd like to see how it works.
This would make dragon's grip oppressive on killers that get fast follow up hits. Way overbuffed.
Lightborn should already work this way.
Nemesis is good. Good theming. I like it.
Dissolution should work this way, yes
Predator sounds good. Dunno about directly countering lightweight.
Starstruck doesn't need buffs.
I've seen this thanat idea before. Ultimately pointless, thanat would still be in the dumpster.
Unnerving presence is a cute one. Could catch survivors by surprise.
Beast of prey: still absolutely pointless.
Deathslinger: it's cute that you can't even give him a straight buff. Gotta have that compensatory nerf, huh?
I was thinking about the exact same blight idea earlier today. It might be a little too harsh to have him be 110% on top of not being able to follow up rush.
This would make plague feel awful to play. She doesn't need nerfs. The fountain thing is a cute QoL but that's once per game.
You've butchered Wesker for some bizzare reason. He's high B tier at best. Doesn't need any nerfs.
You've also completely neutered pig. Is this a joke to go along with the nerf pig meme? Cuz you've made her main power absolutely pointless.
Oni doesn't need any buffs. After the first hit he's got basically 100% uptime on his power. He doesn't need that singular weakness of having to get the first hit negated.
Other stuff:
Don't have an AMD GPU, dunno what this is and don't care. The framerate should indeed be unlocked.
Giving money directly to a company for changes is slavish and gross. They make plenty of money and should want to improve the game on its own merits. They aren't a charity, they're a corporation with commiserate risks and rewards.
Okay. I'm done now. Gonna go lie down.

I don't think you're survivor sided, chief. I think this particular set of ideas is. It's not impugning your character or accusing you in any way.
-
Dunno. It's hard to be nice sometimes because survivors just assume you're incompetent instead of just being nice.
Last night I had a Kate that was a very weak looper and so I hooked her twice. She kept running into me so rather than take her out of the game I slugged her. I did this for her twice. At the end of the game she called me the classic "tunneling camper" and threatened to DDOS me. You just can't please a lot of people

DId you notice the major killer rework buffs and major maps nerf or did you skim the entire thing blindly without thought?
Also corrupt basekit,a mini BBQ basekit, god pallets nerf... all that? Yeah sure buddy survivor sided change. Stop trying to do an us vs them here.
Also I'm sorry most of the killer buffs? I nerfed bloodlust and added 0.3s of cooldown to basic attacks without giving back the injury speedbost.
I did indeed read it. I think corrupt is vastly overrated and a crappy version of it is even more worthless. The farthest two gens? Who cares? Pointless.
You're giving SWF the tools they need to coordinate flawlessly and increasing solo coordination exponentially. Knowing whether or not someone is being chased at all times gives any given survivor leeway to sit on gens constantly. What if there was a perk that showed the killer's aura whenever they were chasing anyone? It'd be incredibly powerful. That's tacitly what this is, all the time. At the same time as giving survivors incredibly powerful information tools you're reversing the most significant buffs killers clawed their way into.
The stuff you're giving killers are token, inconsequential buffs. Seeing a single farthest survivor? Utterly pointless for any killer without the mobility to capitalize on it and they don't need any help.
Easy way to buff trapper? Have him start with traps. I like the speed boost idea.
Easy way to buff billy? Just remove overheat. He doesn't need to be better at what he's already good at.
Wraith? Give him his lunge back. Shadow dance is already very strong and doesn't need any increased synergy.
Your map suggestions are so vague that I can't even comment on them. "Make map better". Uhhhh. Okay? In a subsequent post you elaborate that you don't want windows in a line, but changing their adjacency doesn't really affect how you loop them. You can still get a fast vault on them if they're askew so it doesn't really matter.
Finally, "us vs them". Just because I think your ideas heavily favor survivors doesn't mean that I'm engaging in tribalism. It merely means that your ideas..... heavily favor survivors. That's the shape of the thing. Unlike you who's original post contains combative language toward killers: "...While some of these changes may seem like too much to certain Killer players..." Definitely feels like you're trying to throw shade at one side.
-
These are vast survivor buffs. You've reverted most of the killer buffs from last chapter and given survivors catte blanche to bang out gens at all times, constantly knowing what both the killer and your fellow survivors are always doing. I don't understand why anyone would want hold W back.
-
So if a survivor body blocks aggressively after being unhooked and I rightfully down them, I just don't get to see for the next few minutes?
"Tunneling" is fine. Survivors have a buffed base kit version of one of their best perks now and the original perk is heavily buffed.
-
Solo queue killed my pet parrot.

I've seen an uptick in Blindness add-ons on M1 killers like Legion and Wraith that most likely is a reaction to WoO being meta, atm.
The wraith one is fifty times better than the legion one. Knowing that someone who self mended, somewhere is blind is difficult information to capitalize on. Wraith's just gives Blindness barely conditionally. I prefer Clown's as well.
-
Doesn't dredge haha an addon that causes blindness during nightfall? Tilling blade?
-
You can figure out the issues with it if you think about it with your mindbrain a little. Unbreakable already exists. One of the best perks in the game. Can turn around an entire match. Now just use those established parameters and apply them to every survivor, all the time. The fallout is evident.
I don't need to walk into the ocean to know that I'll get wet. I've been rained on and it's the same substance in the ocean that comes from the sky. Just a little bit of deductive reasoning shows what'll happen.

Now imagine you are a parent and you just got the kids to bed and you only have like a hour to play, cause you got to work in the morning. Yeah im happy with this patch already.
Ah, the "dad gamer" argument.
-

No, this is just confirmation bias on your part. There's no way behavior has the programming acumen to do this, even if they wanted to.

What's unpopular about it? Survivor players are the majority of the player base, so any changes that benefit them are going to be met with overwhelmingly positive sentiment. It's just a numbers game.
Now whether the aforementioned change is good for the game is a different matter entirely. Common consensus is rarely correct. The majority like a lot of really dire and terrible stuff.

If it's not a pseudo-teleport (I never claimed it was on par with an actual Nurse/Sadako Teleport), why is ever Wesker I ever seen using the ability after hooking to move faster around the map?
This just in: Moving from one space to another 21 meters away in less than a second is NOT a teleport. Oh dear.
Bipedal locomotion is a psuedo-teleport. It gets you where you want to go but slowly and not through obstacles. Oil is merely psuedo-water, it makes you slippery and penetrates most porous materials.
If you strip out the core identity of a thing when trying to relate it to another thing, the analogy ceases to work. Going through stuff is integral to a teleport. If the ability doesn't go through things, it's no longer related to a teleport in any way. They don't share enough properties to be related to one another after a certain point. What you're getting at is ridiculous and poorly phrased and thought out. It's okay, you know better for next time.

Well in the Legion case I was running the gimmick add-ons which reduce the Mend timer every time Legion does a Frenzy hits someone. So you put them in Deep Wounds, then hit them again to reduce the timer, then keep chasing them so they don’t have a chance to mend and have to keep vaulting, and when you get Frenzy back you can reduce it further, etc. It’s a decently long chase but not as long as it might sound.
This addon no longer exists.
