  • Just about any killer gameplay is well manageable w/o BBQ, though it’s a rarity to play 3 consecutive survivor matches and not face a player who is running it.

BBQ gets used way too much, and unnecessarily, to earn it the bad wrap of being a crutch perk.

  • Survivor wise, players can easily be boosted to red rank via constant SWF matches. This tends to negate the rank’s legitimacy concerning matters of equaling a certain skill set.

What I’ve experienced through playing 90% of my DBD matches since I started playing this game, primarily in Solo queue:

1 Red rank Survivor usually gets paired with a Red rank Killer.

During certain times of the evening, these two will be mismatched with a mixed bag of ranks/ experience/inexperience.

The green rank Jeff a few meters away from a hooked survivor, who insists on completely finishing his gen while 2 other survivors are in the process of being hooked. Killer returns, Jeff is chased, everyone dies.

The Green rank Kate, urban evading down into the basement to rescue a Nea with Kindred from the insidious Bubba with the chainsaw who she confidently believes she can slyly sneak past... then the Green rank Claudette, who immediately after Kate (also with Kindred) is then hooked, watches pink Bubba still standing there in the corner, and follows suit to her own demise.

Green ranks unhooking w/o BT in the killer’s terror radius.

Yellow ranks double tapped in less than a 15second chase.

Brown ranks standing still as the killer approaches, then crouch walking away in plain sight.

Inexperienced players are often neg pips all around.

While there are experienced green/ yellow rank players who have deranked over the course of not playing for a few months, they’re far and few inbetween the masses of inexperienced players in these ranks.

I only have ever had a handful of Solo matches with fellow red ranks who messed around, did next to nothing and made pitifully foolish mistakes that proved detrimental to the entire team. (That’s on console... I’m told PC is an entirely different animal altogether)

Ranks do hold more meaning then anyone gives them credit for after the mention of MMR (which was in play for all of about 5min, and even then it was a mismatched mess). Nevertheless, they cannot always accurately portray a players true level of experience or skill.

Thats jus imo, from what I’ve experienced

  • I have no explanation for you as to why.

Happens to me randomly, about every 15-20 matches or so.

I just imagine they’re like little puppy dogs where every shiny red object or squirrel that they see out of the corner of their eye which grabs their attention is a new, immediate chase for them.

  • Yes.. yes it is... horrendous😔

  • Huntress

    ...forever.

That constant lullaby tends to become unbearable after awhile.

  • I like my boring gens... they satisfy me😌

  • The killer is designed to win the chase.

As much, Killer players desire for survivors to reveal themselves openly so a chase is initiated, then... downed & hooked survivor.

While different scenarios within each match do call for different styles of gameplay...

why would a survivor want to give the killer, who is trying to kill them, exactly, easily what it is they want

So I say, play as stealthily as you please

I can agree. 5 sets of recolored default skins and no killer doll. And blue ginger root for level 70 is ridiculous.

    Untitled Image

Exactly. They could have at least animated it with some electric current or some form of appealing trippy, glowy mysterious light effect.

    It’s a boring, unimpressive level 70 reward.

That was so damn super cool. Thematically sounds “right”. Manages to include circus like theme without cheese. It actually sounds sinister and threatening.

    Absolutely!

Based off what Michael F. April has done in DBD to personalize Billy and Doc’s themes, I really hope he takes a similar angle to encapsulate the nuance of who Clown really is, hopefully incorporating a similar mood to that of Mr. Envy’s piece.

    So excited for this!

How come Leatherface didn't get his own chase music with the rework?

Bubba jus got a few tweaks for the most part... plus licensing agreements potentially play a larger role in that decision.

  • That’s silly 😄

Almost looks like they just sped up the parts of that clip where Meg vaults, causing her to appear as though she’s all Kung fu on those windows!

That is indeed rough. I have the opposite problem in that I go up against people that just wreck me over and over. Some people will say that I should use that as a learning tool to get better, but getting wrecked over and over while I get marginally better isn't exactly my idea of fun.

    Exactly... it almost feels abusive.

While it is a good learning experience and it’s one of the ways I believe helped me to gain greater insight to how both sides function and a become bit more skilled, it isn’t healthy, and nothing about that is any fun.

  • It could work.

There’s Soo many more chapters I’d prefer to see appearing in DBD before this, tho.

  • Hope so... MMR can’t return soon enough

Solo queue is horrendous. I’m getting matches like these and worse every day.

What is "on time"? What level are you at? I just hit level 36 and feel like it's hopeless. I'm only 1/2 way...

I imagine the absolute of “on time” would be sometime before it closes.

The rift closes in 21 days.

    I’m currently on Tier 53.

So, at 2 tiers advanced per day, I’ll reach tier 70 in about 8 days, completing the Rift 13 days before it closes.

At tier 36, you need 34 to complete the rift. You can finish in 17 days if you level up 2 tiers per day.

Not sure what time you are available to play, but it’s more beneficial when wait times for lobbies are less than 3 min. Insta-queue’s are the best... straight into each match, get your rift fragments, then right back into the next.

A few hours of that a day guarantees you reach 70 before it closes, possibly with 3-4 days to spare, if you level up 2 tiers per day.

  • By way of 3-4 hours of matches a day, increasing 2 tiers on the Rift, cutting the overall time of 70 days til completion in half.

I’m a bit behind however, having taken a week off playing. Still on target to complete the Rift with 13 or so days to spare before it closes.

It used to be much easier before they intensified the grind last time around.

Tough to do with a full time job or a family to take care of.

Would be really helpful if devs, choosing to keep it grindy, would loosen it up just a little to especially help these specific players.

Ppl keep saying this. But do they really? Cuz I never been banned. And ppl told me they reported me probably at least a 100x.

Hopefully you weren’t as malicious as that one specific comment spoken in OP’s chat, at all, let alone 100x, to anyone.

It’s highly possible you didn’t say anything that was deemed offensively bannable by those in authority. It’s also possible that some or many of the players who claimed to have been reporting you never actually went through with it.

What is 100%, however, is that the devs take these matters to the utmost of seriousness, and players who cross the line from toxicity to slanderous hate speech, slurs, death wishes, threats and the likes, will absolutely receive a lengthy ban.

  • Obviously have to have Bruce Campbell tho

    ...Hail to the King, Baby!

  • DBD would be better suited as a full, lengthily series like Walking Dead or Supernatural, that provides plenty of time (unlimited seasons/episodes) to delve into the unlimited depths of each character’s lore, the entity, and all the unknown that is to come.

A typical 1hr 35min greedy Hollywood cash grab mangling of such a intricate, in-depth atmosphere is not what anyone wants to look forward to.

Why do people call it this? ######### is the origin of the term "Kobe" as it pertains to jumping off of a hook in Dead by Daylight? Is this related to Kobe Bryant? Is basketball somehow related to Dead by Daylight? Is this just some stupid millennial zoomer thing?

I'm not saying its perfect, but its the best idea I can think of. If it could detect a DC when only the last player DCed that would be preferable, but I doubt they can do that. Whereas they can detect when a DC is done at any point in the game and just prevent the hatch. Its already an unfair mechanic anyways, as the survivor can literally get away without doing ANYTHING.

It’s not a bad idea at all, pretty good, and at least generating some attention toward a conversation on the issue.

Probably a time consuming effort on the devs behalf to write a program for the DC timeframe detection, apart from their other daily DBD work duties tho.

    @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1798092#Comment_1798092

How about a DC functions the same as a sacrifice, that way the Killer has some time to get to the hatch.

The husks that the devs mentioned may be the best opportunity to aid in avoiding the “DC for the hatch” scenario.

In the event of any player leaving the match prematurely, the husk would remain in place (instead of a dead survivor) that could be interacted with by the killer to pick up and sacrifice, thus providing time to counter the last remaining survivor’s escape.

  • It wouldn’t be functionally possible, being that if a player DC’s as soon as the match starts, all other survivors would be robbed of the hatch escape.

I hope you get one - It's a pretty lame reason to miss out on something.

Yeah, it’s okay... I’ve seen “that code is no longer valid” enough times to have just accepted my zero-successfully-Fog- Whisperer-redeemable-codes-entered-in-time fate

If you are unable to enter the 20+ characters fast enough...you are EXCLUDED from ever owning the charm.

With the lowest streams having 3-400 people, and each code limited to 10 uses, you have, at best, a 3% chance at getting each individual code if you can type fast enough. If you can't type fast enough, your chances are literally 0%.

Not to mention trying to key it all in on console...

takes over a minute to enter these ridiculously lengthy codes😔

  • Probs just a off day... it happens

  • Overall, each Springwood map is similar enough to be equally loved completely by me😌

  • They already understand the effects and balances regarding terror radius (chase music included). That’s why it’s still mainstream in-game, as devs have mentioned their being content with keeping it intact, and even reworking and personalizing each killer’s theme.

It’s also why Michael F. April gets paid the big bucks to stick around and do what he does so well.

I will say, w/o the menacing chase music there may be less anxiety during the loop, and could potentially prove to make things more boring with a feeling of emptiness.

  • They should make a survivor that laughs when they get hit, like Tyler Durden in Fight Club.

  • @APoipleTurtle said:

I haven't actually tested it, but it should still allow an injured survivor to endure Victor's attack.

There's really no reason why it wouldn't work, at least:

    • Victor doesn't grab injured survivors, he just downs them (Pounce is literally just a special attack against injured survivors).
    • Special attacks with the potential to down survivors can be endured while injured.
    • Victor only applies the Broken status (preventing a Styptic's use) while latched onto a survivor. It goes away once he's removed.

    Yeah, sounds about right.

Figured it’d work similar to getting chainsawed on Styptic or BT.

Was curious as to wether or not Victor stays attached and must still be removed. I’m presuming he does.

Still love to see a clip of it or sth, since I never do KYF an I’ll probs run out of Styptic before I ever get to personally test it.

  • On a side inquiry:

Has anyone attempted a Styptic on Victor?

I only vs The Twins once every 10 matches or so, and I haven’t yet gotten them when I’ve brought the addon to attempt extra hit endurance.

  • We’ll be here when you feel like you wanna return and do some DBDing again 🥳

    until then...

    🎄Have a🎄Happy 🎄Christmas🎄

  • Ash was transported from sometime in the early 90’s, at the age of 35, all the way back to the Middle Ages or Medieval England, 1300AD, somewhere inbetween the 13th and 14th centuries...

So, Ash (who was born in 1957) having been pulled into the entity’s realm in his late 50’s, would technically still be considered “from another time period” even though he arrived in DBD land much later in life.

Totally true what your saying tho; interestingly enough, all survivors were pulled in within the last 5 decades.

  • @Orion said:

What was actually said was that that particular idea would not be a good one. As for why the devs "never just freaking do what suggestions the community makes that are relatively agreed upon", it's because:

    1. We're not their boss. They are not our employees. We are consumers and they are providing a product. If you want to boss them around, you need to actually be their boss.
    2. "Relatively agreed upon" is a matter of perspective. The idea you mentioned, for example, is awful, IMO.
    3. We're not game designers. Ideas can look good on paper and be disastrous in practice. A game designer has a better understanding of game design than we do.
    4. Suggestions are just that, suggestions. They don't have to do what we suggest any more than anyone else does. You remind me of a woman who suggested they moved more employees to a certain section of the supermarket and then started yelling because they hadn't immediately done what she'd "suggested" (read: demanded). This is not how things work and you know that.
    5. "Just freaking test it" is disingenuous. It completely overlooks the time it takes to code things and the fact that the devs test things internally that never make it to the PTB and are never heard of. You literally can't know what they did or didn't test because you are not part of the developer team.

    That mic just disintegrated

...never even had a chance to hit the floor 🔥🔥🔥

Flawlessly put into words exactly what I was feeling. Thank you for that😌

  • Ranking to 1 Solo is a good challenge.

The best part about ranking up to 1 via only Solo queue is knowing you did it w/o the boost of a consistently good SWF, as well as managing to +pip during ridiculously mismatched matches with inexperienced players, survivor DC’s, buggy/glitchieness, and against some truly Uber-good killers.

It means you pipped up consistently more than you neg pipped, even if it happened to be streaky here and there. Then maintaining rank 1 strictly at Solo for more than 20 consec matches can be a tricky, even better challenge. Usually around the 17th or so, if I haven’t yet been, then I’ll receive a good tunneling and be forced back to 2.

The worst streak I’ve ever had was 12 neg pip matches with 0+pips and a few safety pips in between.

Needless to say; took few days off after that, from all multiplayer games, to cuddle on the couch with some ice cream and boost my morale a bit😌🍨

Yeah, same, I’m still sad about it to this day😔

If you wanna be bold, you could run We’ll Make It, Second Wind, Off the Record and Object to capitalize on max perkability potential, or jus forgo OoO for something less intense and tunnel inducing.

Great “outside the norm” effective combo

  • Totally agree with your SW concept, hope it happens!

I always bring We’ll Make It, so immediately following the unhook I pounce on them for the full heal. Once they see how quickly the progression is taking place, they are happy to allow my med skillz😃 Almost always get the swift, complete heal before anyone else gets there to join in.

That’s the easiest way I get Second Wind activated.
