  • I think this is a bait thread but I'm not sure and that's concerning.

  • We going into year 7 and people are crying about...hope.

This community truly never ceases to amaze me.

  • 1. Seeing if I can do first chase without 2 gens popping.

    2. Seeing if chases in general feel better with survivors being unable to greed pallets with DH.

    3. Abusing the fact that STBFL and Brutal Strength have inadvertently been buffed and I may not have to run slowdown perks anymore.

  • I would but after overzealous got chosen to be part of the meta shake-up on this ptb seemingly before it was even on the dredge ptb and everything from that horrible portrait of a murder midchapter ptb made it live I'm not convinced the ptb serves any meaningful purpose anymore.

  • Trickster, Cenobite, Blight, Dredge, Twins, Slinger, Spirit, Nurse I never see

I swear all I go up against lately is Huntress, Nemesis, Legion and Ghostface. =/

  • 8/10 started out well but laid it on a little thick at the end.

The wolf gif at the end was a nice touch tho.

  • I mean technically they weren't wrong? DH does make the game easy for survivors and as far as the changes go DH is in no world butchered I think it's still be good but will require skill to use now I imagine but we'll see.

So where are you getting survivor feedback from. I've yet to see any forums that isn't full of killer-players with a smattering of a few survivor players. This forum is killer sided, reddit is killer sided, steam is killer sided, where is the survivor heavy forums that you all are getting survivor perspectives on.

After this new developer update, I don't see anything that indicates the developers are listening to survivor players. This entire patch screws solo-queue. This is the 3rd patch in a row, where survivors have been screwed.

I hope the developers realize that this game is old and players are leaving this game because it's old.

I also hope the developers also realize that the gaming community as a whole are very obsessive about games being fair. This patch is designed to be unfair for survivor players. The developers have even stated this in the patch notes.

Killer players are tenacious, they have a lot more invested in the game, so large changes are going to affect that player base a lot less.

However, survivor-players are was less invested in this game. If the developer release something this unfair to survivor players and you are going to see them leave really quickly.

Are the developers just wanting survivor-players to quit in mass, because you release this extremely unfair and biased patch and survivor-players are just going to quit this game.

Yes there are only killer players and survivors players and nobody ever plays both sides.

  • I feel like new dead hard could help with camping as could off the record midgame and generally I think that's the point of increased number of endurance effects.

Maybe I'm giving bhvr too much credit but I feel like that could be the logic behind it although it's unclear if it'll work out that way and even if I'm right it's still the old problem of fix gameplay problem with perks.

  • Currently using Brine + Dragon's Grip + Make your Choice + BBQ with broken doll and recorder for add-ons or Boat Key and either Microphone or Writings as an alternative.

I was using Floods instead of BBQ but trying to get the scourge hook every time was rather annoying. But yeah build is pretty fun and takes advantage of dredge's ability to be a good ambush killer.

No its 100% genrush meta to many killer perks got buffed for gen slowdown they just changed which ones will be used actually they will probably all still get used except pain res. Only thing is you wont see much looping anymore due to the killer base kit changes.

Not really like brine + overcharge could be interesting and pain res is still good but otherwise I think it's probably weaker overall and other strategies are probably better or at least just as viable.

As for survivors I could see something like circle/botany/lucky break/overcome being really strong for survivors now. Just escape every chase and heal immediately could be really good.

  • I definitely think survivors will have strong tools still they just got rid of all the things that artificially extended chase for no reason but every other aspect of survivor got buffed.

If I'm being 100% serious and ignoring potential memes and speculation I think we're probably heading for another heal meta but we'll see.

  • No we have to meltdown over everything this is the dbd forums you're on.

  • It would be really gross if BHVR ever worked with a company like Activision-Blizzard but thankfully it's very unlikely I think.

  • This thread is disingenuous, he said it could be stronger but there was a lot he wasn't sure about and needed to actually see it on the ptb to have an opinion on it.

  • DS was actually in a good place for the most part the endgame nerf is completely fair but nerfing the stun to 3 seconds just trashes a perk the BHVR supposedly thought was healthy for the game.

    Really don't get that one.

  • It's basically a scuffed Street Fighter 3 parry which.....sounds kinda hype.

  • I'll hook you up with my boy franklin and he'll help you take them away yourself.

  • MFW people literally can't wait a second.

You might want to read the dev update again — the successful basic attack cooldown is 2.7 seconds; the on-hit speed boost is 1.8. Both were reduced 10%, which while nice, won't affect the vast majority of endgame scenarios, and most certainly won't negate the ability for a survivor to be guaranteed to take an extra hit with OTR that they would've never had before.

If I got numbers wrong that's my bad but given what you said that's nearly equaling 2 stacks of SBFTL on the killer side and we'll say another 1 stack from the survivor not getting as much distance so that's really good and considering they get base kit BT anyway I almost feel like OTR is irrelevant to the topic of unhooking scenarios this would likely happen with or without the perk.

  • Legion looking potentially A tier or at least High B and I'd rather they did not.

  • @cluxdx said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016667#Comment_3016667

The entire thread is about people bodyblocking with BT and now OTR; the idea behind doing that is so that the killer can't just get the unhooker without having to proc the Endurance, meaning the killer gives both survivors distance.

Chain of events is as follows:

-Survivor gets unhooked, possibly after rescuer forces the M1 off a grab cancel (assuming killer is right in front and can even go for the grab)

-Unhooked survivor bodyblocks the killer with BT or OTR so the killer cannot down the rescuer

-Killer is more than likely forced to hit the survivor who has Endurance, both survivors gain distance while killer is stuck in cooldown.

-99'd gate gets opened, both survivors are out

This exact situation already happens to most killers on occasion, and I'm simply making the case that the BT buff makes it more common, and the OTR buff makes it guaranteed to happen when executed properly.

    1.8 second cooldown.

Unless you're hooking literally next to the gate you can get the unhooker, only the person off hook is getting the speed boost.

  • I really don't understand this mentality of killer getting the biggest buff it's ever gotten and the immediate reaction is "this one perk too strong in end game".

Like tell me no amount of buffs are going to make you feel like you can win before EGC without actually saying it.

Off The Record applies to the survivor when they themselves get unhooked — I was talking about someone gets unhooked during EGC and because they now have 80s of Endurance they cannot be re-hit. And on my point of "rewarding bad plays" I was talking about people diving the hook normally, not during EGC; those were two separate points I was making.

But you can just get the unhooker? I don't understand the issue here?

  • @cluxdx said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016547#Comment_3016547

I completely disagree. In the endgame any team — bad or good — will have every healthy survivor dive the hook to guarantee the unhook, and almost never are they somehow far enough from a gate that that 10% is really gonna make a big difference. I'd see your point if we made Agitation base-kit because you could just pick a hook that's farther away, but without Agi you simply don't have the luxury of picking any hook on the map.

And even in the case of bad survivors diving hooks, should we really be holding people's hand and rewarding them for bad plays?

If a bad team made it to endgame wyd? And even if they do make it end game you can still go for the grab or once you hit the OTR unhooker just hit them again after they complete the unhook? Cuz they won't have it anymore? And then you can hook them again? And even assuming everyone has OTR you can just do this until you get a kill? It's not end game DS or anything, 1.8 seconds is a lot less than 5 seconds.

  • @cluxdx said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3016476#Comment_3016476

You don't play killer enough and it shows. People dive hooks all the time; I can't tell you how many times I've hooked a survivor and not even made it 5 seconds without seeing a guy running straight for the unhook right in my face. How does this help endgame scenarios where you have multiple survivors diving the hook? New OTR basically makes you unable to hook anyone during EGC so long as the unhooked survivor bodyblocks incessantly.

    try over 2k hours lmao.

That only happens with bad teams better teams will wait so unless you're waiting around for them it's not gonna come up that often, OTR is strong in EGC but the increased recovery is gonna make it not as bad especially if you run STBFL, this thread is a massive overreaction.

  • Yeah don't agree at all, this only comes up if you're camping in which case lol ######### are you doing still camping with all these killer buffs.

  • Me a Mikaela Main: "What's self-care?"

  • I love it I might actually even run it now since it's not as brain dead and you can't greed pallets or windows for free anymore.

  • Survivor: Off the record/Dead Hard/MoM/Circle or Lightweight/Quick and Quiet/Lithe/DS or Circle/Botany/Lucky Break/Overcome

these are the first three I wanna try but there will be more for sure.

Killer: overcharge/brine/pop/dragon's grip or shrine/gift of pain/pain res/floods of rage or lethal pursuer/I'm all ears/bbq/jolt

  • Yeah I don't see a reason to run it anymore for any reason except if you're nemesis maybe otherwise it got dumpstered.

Which is fine cuz yay get to run different perks now but hexes in general seem kinda bad now and they weren't in an amazing spot to begin with.

tbf. Pain res is still locked to RNG scourge hooks being good and placed well throughout the map plus it got nerfed so you don't even know which gen blew up, brine and overcharge suffer from the same thing. You can kick them, but chances are as soon as you go away someone will be back on the gen. I doubt anyone will ever see the full 400% of overcharge go to work because sitting near a gen for 30 seconds is just a giant waste of time.

Dragon's Grip also lasts on a gen 30 seconds, I know the first thing I'm trying.

  • With all the endurance effects perhaps we can finally make MoM happen.

  • They just buffed killers across the board and we have brine, pain res, and now buffed overcharge and thana. I think we'll live.

  • I actually love this event because it shows BHVR how dumb either side can be when pushed to the absolute limit. I hope they balance accordingly in the future.

  • I've converted to brine + dragon's grip over ruin because they can't destroy brine and they can't touch the gen for at least 30 seconds unless they wanna be exposed so the gets me a lot of regression. I don't know that I could ever go back to ruin now it feels too risky even with undying.

So if survivors are not managing resources well they might have the small chance to lose?... Idk if im convinced thats good design, as any m1 killer will get destroyed in any scenario in the game if survivors have a little understanding on how to play the game.

As long as the rest of the team is slamming gens throwing every pallet is 100% viable.

  • He can still hear you, chasing while blind isn't that difficult.

  • She's not great but something I learned recently that actually helped a surprising amount is that she has built in whispers. If you look at a TV and it's playing the tape a survivor is within 16m of the TV otherwise it'll be static.

  • @squbax said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3011712#Comment_3011712

If most pallets have been dealt with in the game, then there is no excuse for survivors to have not finished all gens by then, if and only if they are not playing against nurse.

Depends on your build, if you're running all gen regression and survivors are throwing every pallet immediately this isn't necessarily the case.

  • Very middling once you get used to them. A lot of maps have terrible locker distribution and survivors get a loud warning when they're in a locker combined with locks they can usually get a good 4-5 second headstart on Dredge.

Dredge is fairly bad in chase since holding the remnant slows them down so much you basically give up free distance for them to go to the next loop and in reality in chase Dredge is mostly a M1 killer.

Nightfall is fine. It's not the game changer people think it is once people learn how loud Dredge is in Nightfall and it's basically a filter that doesn't change a whole lot.

That being said a lot of this is mitigated by the fact the Dredge is probably the best user of perks that give exposed in the game and has the 1st or 2nd best mobility in the game. They also have a great group of add-ons so things generally balance out.

  • I actually agree it's a bit overblown how bad Gideon's is I would go there a dozen times in a row if it meant never dealing with real atrocities like springwood, most corn maps, or the hourglass maps like suffocation pit and azarov's resting place.

There are a lot of pallets yeah but once they're dealt with most of the map is pretty unsafe and the map can even be fun if you bring something like shadow dance wraith or bubba and just chew through pallets with ease.

  • Halloween - It's shown it's age but at the time absolute slamdunk in terms of fitting the source material and added good perks for both sides and Michael is fun to play with more build variety than any other killer due to their addons. Haddonfield never really panned out but I love the concept for it as a map even if it doesn't play exceptionally well.

Hellraiser- Ignoring the NFT debacle which was an absolute massive misstep on behavior's part we got scourge hooks and a very unique killer and it introduced me to what is now my 2nd favorite horror franchise after Halloween.

All-Kill- This is weird pick for me since I don't especially like Yun-Jin or Trickster but the narrative of having a survivor and killer so closely tied together was cool and I can't deny the chapter absolutely lit the forums on fire (even if a lot of it was negative it was fun to watch). Perkwise I really appreciate Starstruck for the times I don't feel like dealing with bodyblocking and No Way Out for making end games builds more viable and encouraging not camping. To this day however I will never understand why they took that beat out of Trickster's menu theme that was there in the PTB it fit so well and was cool to hear something so different for a killer theme.

  • Artist because she brings up a lot of feelings for me from a really hard time in my life. I'm not gonna go into too much detail about it but during the time her ptb came out my situation was more or less I was stuck in the middle of the ocean with no way home around a bunch of people I didn't know and talking to my gf about the ptb (among other things of course) through the ship's ######### wifi the 2 hours a day it actually worked was the only sense of normalcy I had and it helped me through that so for me Artist is always going to be associated with that with me.

  • To add to what everyone has said it's on a charge system, 300 charges and nightfall happens. A survivor getting hooked or injured is 20 charges, staying injured gives them 1 charge a second per survivor so everyone injured is 4 charges a second and while hiding in lockers they get 6 charges per second.

So if a dredge wants to create maximum nightfall triggers they'll be teleporting around a lot hit and running keeping everyone injured. If you wanna keep nightfall away stay healthy and split up so they can't get multiple hits on people easily.

Do you really think that Behaviour is going to nerf the most picked perk in the game on the survivor side (The side that pay the bills) ? Absolutelly not, they are going to make some "Adjust", something ridiculous and DH will continue to be mega broken, because if they nerf that perk, 90% of the dummies who play survivor will stop playing because they cant fix their mistakes by pressing the Panic Button.

Behaviour is going to destroy Noed, Ruin and Corrupt, because they doesn´t care about killers, we are no enough to make a difference if we leave the game or not. So, do not expect something good for killers, that ain´t gonna happen.

Considering the treatment they gave Object and conversely Dead Man's Switch this is a pretty silly comment.

  • SB doesn't completely ignore killer powers so that's fine, SB can get you to a tile if you're out of position but you still have to play the tile correctly once you get there.

DH you can misplay a tile have your mistake corrected for you and then prolong a chase another 20 seconds cuz you pressed E.

  • Most survivors will probably struggle to loop now for a long time however being an effective looper is still very possible you just have to learn how to chain tiles effectively as opposed to DH doing it for you.
