  • I get saved and still do saves during end game all the time so no I haven't noticed this. In addition basekit BT has made saving near the gate easier so that's nice.

  • If you're not gonna do gens then yes time to go, if you're actually gonna make an honest effort to try to win than stick with it because I'm sure things will get better.

There are plenty of viable builds still and I'm sure BHVR will fine tune what they've done here.

  • You are the hero we need but not the one we deserve.

The reason why chases were entertaining doesn't change the fact that the entertainment value is lost. The end result is the same: entertainment product should be entertaining.

"instead of actually learning how to loop" - looping requires resources. Pallets are gone faster now. Without pallets and with increased bloodlust any noob can bloodlust themselves to a kill. Also, a lot of looping relied on mind games. With IW nerf, there is no mindgaming someone with headphones.

Literally still looping killers for 1-2 gens a chase and that's if I don't lose them so what on earth are you talking about?

A lot of killers quit because dead hard was broken, and no one blamed them for it, because it was legitimately broken. Which is why they changed it.

Lmao this is not what happened. Killers got told to just "bait it out" repeatedly and that DH wasn't actually a problem, let's not do revisionist history here.

It's an entertainment product. Chases were entertaining and they are now shorter. Gens were not entertaining and they are now longer. A game is not a job and should not have increased parts that are not fun.

Chases were entertaining to people because they required no effort on the survivor's part and they could greed pallets for free. Now that they can't they're throwing a fit instead of actually learning how to loop, chases are still a thing and if anything more rewarding because you know you're actually outplaying the killer now.

Longer gens are a bit of an issue but a thana reversion fixes that.

  • Pretty silly to me.

People would rather cry than learn how to do skill checks and do gens efficiently.

  • How does one get 10k in survival? The other three categories sure I'm eating 10k in objective every game especially but survival has always been a mystery to me besides escaping.

  • It's Smash Hit tier now, you can use it and it's serviceable but why would you ever use it when SB, Lithe, Overcome exists?

  • I haven't done much killer testing on this patch so far but I will say dredge feels much better now. Despite the hype they were mid B tier but now they can delay and get even more nightfalls and chase is much less frustrating so they're probably A tier now almost certainly. I doubt I'll be able to do a lot of killer testing until BP incentives come back and bring queue times down though.

  • Yeah been loving it so far, 4 star perk (out of 5) for sure. I think it's better than lucky break even.

  • It definitely feels mandatory if you want gens to take a reasonable amount of time with all the slowdown stacking going on rn.

  • Is better communication going to make my teammates hit skill checks or learn how to loop?

SoloQ needs buffs for sure but let's not pretend lack of communication is the only thing holding it back. Hell I had to stop using empathetic connection because I thought it would encourage better plays but all people used it for was to sandbag most of the time.

  • First thank you for a detailed honest critique instead of doomposting, it's nice to see for a change.

Second I agree they went too hard on the gen regression in this patch, not sure what the point of increasing gen times was if they were gonna buff gen regression as well. I also agree it's boosting some bad killers.

I don't think the patch has to be scrapped entirely as there are good things in here. DH nerf is good, killer base kit buffs are good as well as buffs to lightweight and distortion and lucky break. It's also having a positive change in toxicity levels in the game which is worth something IMO.

I think what we need from BHVR is something historically they haven't been good at which is to admit something didn't work. I hope they look at this patch and are able to recognize what hasn't worked and take it out and try something else. Not all of it mind you but just refine what they did here instead of thier usual "we did the thing so you're stuck with it for better or worse" deal. Make looping challenging for survivors IMO but help them out with increased info in exchange and either keep the currentgen speeds or current slowdownperks but not both.

  • The biggest problem with survivor right now is survivors themselves. Yeah playing survivor is gonna suck when you have teammates that can't hit skill checks or loop or bother to do gens. DH isn't here to fix looping mistakes and you don't have time to screw around and my games tonight have been solely determined by my teammates I've had some lobbies with really good teammates and the games felt good and we all escaped but I've also had games where my teammates get on a gen with me and blow it up 3 times and run away and get downed in a 12 second chase. That second team isn't escaping and it doesn't deserve to and whereas there was a chance they might have before they don't now and they're mad.

I'm not saying everything in the patch is good, thana buff was very not needed nor was the ds nerf but this patch had a lot more good than bad in it and I know people don't like to hear it but yes to an extent survivors do need to get good because you don't get to make mistakes and then not get punished for it anymore. It's really frustrating to die and then see I score more than any of my teammates by a pretty good amount because they lack basic decision making skills.

Now granted most people don't grind out this game as much as me and I don't think it's reasonable to expect them to do that so I do think to avoid making going to dbd school mandatory to play survivor they do need to make certain things available for soloQ. Those status icons need to happen as does base kindred without seeing the killer aura because as much as survivors do need to get better and adapt I know the more likely scenario is they just go play killer because let's be honest the vast majority of this player base is just gonna play whatever role is easier no matter what and right now that's killer so things do need to evened out a little.

  • They might wanna fast track those practice bots tbh, they seem very needed for the present moment for many players.

  • It won't happen cuz it's not well known but Shiki would be pretty fitting.

  • Ironically I just played against plague twice tonight and neither did very well.

    1. First one woulda been a 1k but 2 people suicided to get me out which while nice of them I probably shoulda let myself die on hook so that didn't turn into a 2k.
    2. Second one 0k'd with about 6 hooks.

Both were stacking slowdowns so I don't think plague is oppressive in the hands that doesn't main them and I don't think you ever don't cleanse against a plague now when they all use thana and dead hard is a shell of itself so playing against her is pretty straight forward. Pretty much just always cleanse and try to stun her out of her power when she has it and you should be okay.

  • Increasingly better the more I play.

Killer doesn't feel like "wait out DH during every chase while 7 gens pop" simulator and survivor is challenging but still very manageable. I think gens can probably go back to 80 seconds and soloQ needs some info improvements and I'd say we're aces.

  • I'm escaping just as much as I was before just needed to use different perks than I was before.

  • I do think it's too early to be complaining when the dust hasn't really settled yet. I think now is the time to be experimenting with as many different builds as you can and figuring out what's best, not to mention part of the reason soloQ is so bad is because now that survivor is harder a lot of people became instantly defeatist and stopped trying. That meg that killed themselves on first hook is way more damaging to soloQ than anything in this patch. I'm not saying tunneling isn't worse now in a sense it very much is but deal with it for a bit and BHVR will probably see they overcorrected when the numbers come out. In the mean time instead of acting like the sky is falling we should figure out what's best builds and then decide what's needed to improve the soloQ experience.

TL;DR We need lots of testing of builds and well thought out critiques of the soloQ experience not pointless hysterics.

  • I agree, played survivor all night tonight to see what was up and if it was really as bad as people made it out to be and it's really not.

    Things I learned tonight:

    1. Sprint Burst, Lithe, Overcome are all great and people should stop trying to run Dead Hard.
    2. Off the Record is overrated a lot of people I saw running it died pretty fast and if you get hit while running form the hook it doesn't do anything it wasn't already doing prepatch.
    3. Lightweight seems good? Like really good. A lot of killers didn't seem too interested in chasing me while I was running it and my chases were noticeable longer with it compared to without it.
    4. Prove Thyself is even more valuable than it was before. Makes increased gen time not noticeable.
    5. You NEED a healing perk. It doesn't matter which one you just need one, with no dead hard you don't get a free 3rd health state making getting hit that much more costly and chases the much shorter so heal tf up. Medkits are also invaluable and by far the best item you can bring.
    6. Hold W throw pallet is still effective also don't greed pallets.
    7. Do the gd gens, you will get punished so much more for walking around doing nothing. You do not have time to walk around saving your SB or whatever if you're healthy and have nothing else to do get on a gd gen or you will lose.
    8. DS is pathetic now yes but still almost still worth running to extend chases, that's how important buying time is now.

Honestly it's not bad you just have to be smart and all the people that were getting carried by DH are feeling it I have to think. I escaped probably 50% tonight which is what it was before the patch I just have to work harder and pray I had good teammates cuz if you do you can escape no problem if your team is bad good luck getting more than a single gen done. Survivor isn't bad just unforgiving which if any survivors mains think that's the worst thing ever well now you know how killers felt for the longest time. I still think BHVR could do some things to make make the soloQ experience feel better but overall we're on our way to DBD being in a good place.

  • I feel like the poll wasn't thought through...like at all....

"Hey do you want some uncommon survivors in some christmas-y pajamas and sweaters"

"I guess that does seem like tradition after all and nice to see some of the more unused survivors get some attention, really in the giving and thinking about others mood of the holidays."

"I know although I do have this other idea for the holidays where we just uuuuhhhhh....put all the most popular and attractive survivors in fancy dresses"

    "...what?"

"Yeah and David the most popular male survivor can be in this really cool nutcracker outfit and dredge can be this horrifying snowman in what's probably one of the most creative cosmetics we've ever done."

"Kinda feels like one idea is obviously gonna be more popular than the other"

"Hey you're right we should make a poll about it!"

"Oh I feel like that's going to have a very predictable outcome"

"Nah it'll probably be super close"

*cue set A winning at 70%*

  • I can only assume behavior is trying to encourage "first time" memes in game.

  • It's still good cuz of the numbers and not having to move to the gen but it feels so empty and unrewarding now. It's like gift of pain now where you assume it's doing....something, even if you're not sure exactly what.

I'll probably pass on using it from now on but I want to pass on using slowdown as much as I can now anyway even if stacking 4 slowdowns is still the best thing you can do as killer it doesn't feel like you have to.

  • Tunneling after this patch is just gross to me, I did it sometimes previously just because chase times with old DH were ridiculous and you needed to get someone out quick but now?

I can lazily run zero slowdown and just go from person to person with bbq and chase with minimal mind games because survivors are still trying to greed pallets not realizing they can't anymore and 4king with little to no effort and even if they do throw the pallet it's not a massive deal. OtR doesn't even do anything if survivors don't coordinate properly and sprint burst is great but perfectly reasonable, playing killer felt very chill tonight and tunneling feels completely unnecessary. I even had a Huntress game where I played like ######### but 4k'd anyway because gens take so long so tunneling to me seems like borderline griefing atp.

I like how playing killer feels now but BHVR needs to throw soloQ a bone and make kindred base and extend DS along with extended hook timers. I think the patch surprisingly did a lot to getting us closer to both sides feeling good to play but they overshot what they were going for and really need to help out solo survivors and then the game might actually be in a really good place for both sides if they do.

  • I love this is being called an exploit with all the justification of "cuz I feel like it".

I don't know why some people want a game with no meaningful interaction in it and it's not an exploit you just can't interact with an object the same time a survivor is.

  • So this is generally true but they also have like 2-10 viewers on average so it's not really that different from any dbd player in particular. You just get to see them self-report in 4k is the only difference.

  • DBD fanbase- "We want interesting morally grey characters"

BHVR- "Okay here's a character that inadvertently did war crimes"

DBD Fanbase- "No not like that!"

In all seriousness I think Jonah's lore is fine. Not every survivor has to be an angel or even a good guy. I hope they stick with what they did and instead make it about a person having a crisis of faith in thier mission and what they believe is right and living with the guilt of doing things as bad as what Jonah did.

  • Werewolf but make it different than demo with the lunge, I would hope they would focus on making it a good tracking killer with a lot of built in info.

If you want every match to be a sweatfest with S-A tier killer, then that's what you'd end up with.

Killers would end up being minmaxed monsters with ultra oppressive chase/map pressure power because that's what most of them have and believe me, it wouldn't be fun.

Where did I say I wanted that?

I would prefer if Nurse and Blight got knocked down and all the C-D killers got brought up to B tier if all the killers were A-B tier I think that would make the game the most healthy.

Mindgaming and breaking LoS are fundamental parts of the game against literally every single killer in the game. Please stop parroting that misnomer. It detracts from honest discussion.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3054570#Comment_3054570

Refer to this post to understand that myth is a blatantly false rumor with zero evidence, and plenty of evidence to the contrary: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3054244/#Comment_3054244

So your evidence for it is BHVR a company that has taken years to get DH, DS, right and are just now tackling problems with tunneling camping that have existed from the beginning of the game's release would change nurse if she warped the game around her?

    lol

  • I want nurse nerfed so the game can be balanced properly and we can buff certain killer perks that can't be buffed currently because it would be busted on nurse and same with new perk design.

The killer meta is balanced around nurse and I don't know why we pretend it isn't.

  • Currently its

    Survivor

    1. Mikaela
    2. Zarina
    3. Jeff

    Killer

    1. Artist
    2. Cenobite
    3. Dredge

  • Shape = Moogle

    Ghost Face = Reapfield

    Artist = Bird #########

Twins = Definitely not a baby

  • Mid B, reliant on locker spawns and the anti-loop is overrated since a good survivor will take that time to go to a new loop. Mobility is good though and is one of the best users of exposed perks like devour, dragon's grip and MYC.

  • I definitely feel like these changes are going to lead to games that last way too long.

  • Jeff has the best perks out those 4 but they're all average neither great nor terrible. That being said Built to Last (Felix) when paired with a good toolbox and streetwise is absolutely busted and makes so that even if you're on a potato team you can get all the gens done yourself so I actually think it's a very good solo Q perk.

  • I don't think clown should be able to bring extra bottles with pinky finger but otherwise it's fine.

  • oh god not another one these threads.....

People have no idea how far in advance changes like these are planned smh.

  • I never see Nurse or Blight, it's how I know my mmr with survivor is probably quite average and I'm 100% okay with that.

  • It should be Sidney Prescott and that counts as a standalone since ghost face is a combination of an original character and licensing the likeness from fun world and is explicitly not from the scream franchise.

  • I don't think they should have taken the BP effect away cuz if people wanna grind that's thier choice but I especially don't know why you would nerf a perk that encouraged not camping.

I also feel like it lost part of it's flavor like before it was you were getting food for the entity and when you got all the ingredients (the 4 survivors) you had a big feast of blood (double bp) and now it's just you aura read survivors far away cuz reasons. I'd like if they kept that aspect of it and if it's not gonna happen with bp maybe a 7% haste effect for 30 seconds? Or the entity blocks all pallets and windows for 30 seconds? Just do something like that because perks the encourage you to hook all the survivors and not tunnel and camp is good for the game.

  • Absolutely not killer was a horrid mess of a role back then where you got quad ds'd and you couldn't do anything about it and you got looped to infinity because of poor map design and old balanced landing so with the devs seemingly attempting to at least try to take balance more seriously I find myself way more excited for the future of dbd rather than wanting to go to the past.

  • Not sure why you wouldn't go straight for the undying.

Wrong, I never said Im camping all the time, especially not with Sadako, Dredge and Freddy (well, if I block all gens with Dead Mans Switch thanks to Fake Teleport, why should I leave the hook-area? Then of course I camp).

Most of the time I only camp when there are no more gens to do or when i have like 2 hooks or so. I think Im pretty good as Freddy for example and I win over 50% of my games with 3k or 4k.

The question is: How will the game change. We shall see. But I can share my thoughts, dont u think?

Then how did we go from "I only camp during endgame" to "omg camp every single hook" going into a patch where killers are massively buffed across the board? That makes less then no sense.

Slowdown isn't even nerfed if you wanna do brine/overcharge/pop/deadlock you can and can do so in a world world where gens are 10 seconds slower each and chases on average should be shorter so I have no clue what you're talking about.

  • I used to run ruin/undying/thrill/pentimento and it was one of those things that destroyed solos but SWFs seemed to deal with it well enough. Now I mostly just run plaything sometimes with pentimento sometimes not. There's too many anti-hex mechanics in the game for it to be worth it to me.

  • @Marik1987 said:

Its a bait-thread for telling you my fears about the changes. That "we" have to do camping even more. I dont like this, but this could make most sense. We shall see.

I really hope that the Chase-Changes for M1-Killers (I play Freddy in 1st place, Pig, Sadako, Dredge + some M2-Killers like Nemesis or Demogorgon most of the time), especially are helping for more kills without more camping. And no, I will never main Bubba, I hate this character.

My Main Killer-Issue is that they obviously want to kill my beloved PR + DMS Combo. I think PR is dead, 15% ok, but the hook-placements arent worth the Regression-Part alone. Mostly I have to walk to the 2nd hook close to me, so the 15% arent effective compared to normal hook. If they make PR 6 hooks instead of 4 it would be fine with the current RNG.

I was on dredge and wraith for like 5 hours last night and I think I only had situations that actually required camping once or twice the entire night. This feels like less of a "we" issue and more of a "you" issue and not spreading pressure effectively. Like you play characters with mobility like Freddy, Sadako, and Dredge and then you're camping like why though you're not playing to thier strengths at all.

  • If you get pallet stunned as nurse you ######### up.
