  • Go play literally any other asymm then? It just sounds like you have an issue with DBD's core identity.

  • I just wait it out, realistically even if you save the slug what's going to happen? More 2v1 immersed gameplay where nothing actually happens? It's more constructive to let the slug die and get hatch and whoever is slugged should just crawl to some far away corner to make it harder for the killer. It's a terrible situation to be in though and all so the killer can get an extra maybe 4k points.

  • It's mostly just powers that require good timing and/or aim become unplayable and getting robbed of grabs constantly. Try playing Slinger or Doctor with survivors with high ping and you'll put your head through the screen by the end of it.

The funniest is actually Myers where if there's lag and and server disagreement you can actually stalk people and it will take that stalk away in some cases and trying to 99 your t3 becomes a nightmare. I don't play Ghostface but I imagine they must deal with a similar thing.

  • The killer being able to to tunnel encourages tunneling. We got basekit BT before eruption was even used because that was the strongest strategy, eruption has nothing to do with it.

Does Eruption have to be nerfed? Yeah it 100% does cuz by the numbers it's by far the strongest regression perk to ever exist by a wide margin and the the only real counter to it seems to be gen rush as much as you can before it procs which I don't think anybody is happy about and incapacitated is kind of a dumb status effect.

BHVR trying to solve this through perks like hyperfocus, potentisl energy and the like is just creating an unhealthy arms race for both sides which is just going to make nerfing gen regression in the future more difficult when they're giving survivors all these tools to do gens faster.

But that being said tunneling and eruption are unrelated and I don't think there's any perks that encourage tunneling at least not in the same way say insidious directly encourages camping. You can say it's related cuz eruption procs on downs but killers were already using that logic for getting kills and pressure in general so eruption didn't change the equation much.

And you can also lose all that energy and time you spent doing it if you get hit. Trash perk.

A lot of people don't understand getting that time in a faraway corner gen is a lot easier than trying to do it on a tight 3 gen. Not all gens are the same.

  • Nah bring a BNP and hyperfocus and you can knock out a gen in 25 seconds solo. People are sleeping on it hard.

Didn’t the devs say DBD is technically a 1v1v1v1v1? So you are conceding when you DC/suicide

It's weird, technically it is 1v1v1v1v1 for MMR and BP purposes but the Altruism category and a ton of perks encourage you to to play like it's a 4v1 but at the same time Left Behind and Self-preservation exist. I think BHVR let's you pick how you wanna play it so both are true I guess.

  • So I've escaped against decent Blights and Nurses before so I'm ready to be proclaimed as your God when you're ready.

  • I wouldn't expect much more than the soloQ icon changes. Midchapter this time last year had those weird Twins, Clown, Nemesis add-on changes so this is already an improvement over whatever that was.

I'd be very surprised if we got Twins changes as well. This is the time they would look at Wesker but Wesker is fine as is so I doubt we see anything with that either.

  • This doesn't translate the way you think it does when you look at the top 5% MMR kill rates. The sadako post was a bit overblown but I think the sentiment that she's heavily underrated is correct for the most part.

  • Wait until people figure out potential energy is a good perk and you can stack it and delete the 5th gen in like 15 seconds.

  • Nah not really.

    download.jpeg

It's nice but BP is pretty easy to earn so I wouldn't sweat over it.

please tell me where did i say "punish for swf" ?? this is all a general buff for the killers like the last "killer buff patch" only this time less solo q suffers a lot, i know the dbd community is not the most intelligent and misunderstands a lot and only hears what they want to hear (that's why I ignore a lot of the statements) and don't address certain things because they are always misunderstood because it seems too difficult to understand, the simplest things that everyone understands is more statements like "swf broken, nurse broken, killer are broken" but if you say that the killers still need love and buffs because the killers byfar are still very much at a disadvantage and you shouldn't bury the solo q in the process, then yes, then comes "do you want to punish the swf? do you people want them punish play with friends ?" respond emotionally and not racially

but i always think to myself "if people are too limited to understand that and misinterpret my statements completely, then it's your own fault!" again THESE ARE KILLER BUFFS only the solo q gets an actions buff so as not to go under, A GENERAL BUFF LIKE THE LAST "KILLER BUFF PATCH" simply because the killers are far too weak POINT! and btw i am a main survivor who since the change of mmr and killer buffs (i.e. since solo q is unplayable) mostly only plays swf or killer or other games, you can ignore all that and leave it as it is only then a lot of people (like me 8k+ hours) would rather switch to swf and killer than go for solo q

Making SWF do things slower than solos is punishing SWFs. I don't think you actually understand what you're advocating for.

  • Yeah that sounds like a coding nightmare and I don't know why we wanna punish people for playing with their friends.

Like if someone has 50 hours and plays with thier friend with 12 hours why do we wanna make the game miserable for them? I'm pretty sure they're not gonna be making amazing plays just because they're in a discord call.

  • Dead Hard is much more bearable than it used to be and overall more fair but it's still the same counterplay of waiting it out which isn't particularly fun.

That being said I don't know what they could possibly do it atp without reworking the perk entirely because as is it will always be the most brought perk despite anything they do to it while keeping it similar to what it is now because having a 3rd health state is inherently extremely powerful.

My guess is if anything they'll solve it like they solve everything else (with perks) and we'll probably get more killers and perks that inflict deep wound in the future.

  • Bleed out timer is far too long for it to be a regular consistent strategy, I've bled people out organically before but it's a very rare situation and always involves SWFs, flashlights and them making dumb gimmicky plays. So generally speaking it's largely unnecessary and it's kinda lame for killers to do it.

I feel like the bleed out timer should be shortened to 3 minutes. I would say 2 but then slugging is probably better than hooking in a fair number of scenarios and I don't think we want that. But at 3 minutes is still not optimal for the killer to do it most of the time but also makes slugging for the 4k or to grief slightly more bearable for survivors.

I mean... it's probably a bad mechanic if it's not explained anywhere in-game, causes frustration, and the only way a player would know about it is by being on PC for endgame chat or talking about the game online.

The really insane thing is nearly every killer is like this. If you don't research it you'd never know Trapper and Pig's trap logic, Nemesis's points based mutation meter, Dredge's charge based nightfall meter, Knight's guards, etc all work. This game is insanely complex for a game with basically no competitive scene and unless you do crazy amounts of research you don't know how most of it works.

And that's the stuff they don't tell you but even what they do tell you is complex. Like for example say your a survivor playing against doctor. Unless you know what specific affliction corresponds with which add-on good luck figuring out what you're playing against. Is it stealth doc with calm add-ons? Is it doc that can see the fake doctor hallucinations? Better hope you studied what the associated afflictions are for each so you can figure it out. Now have that level of knowledge for the other 29 killers.

Personally I can nerd out and study these things cuz I like the complexity and don't play many other games but for your casual gamer this game probably seems like navigating a maze with no directions.

  • I'd rather that not happen because then we just go back to 2020 meta of DH/DS/Unbreakable on every single survivor and that was miserable.

It will literally create scenarios where if you run Off the Record as the 4th perk you would have to hit a survivors 5 times in order to hook them, you can technically do this now just nobody runs DS much anymore so it doesn't happen.

I know people will say "just don't tunnel" but that's not realistic. You cannot realistically 4k as killer by 12 hooking and alternating survivors every single time the game just doesn't work that way. At least not at a high level, I guess you can do it if the survivors are terrible but that's not most games.

  • It very much seems like a horror movie from what I've seen but I think it's still the chucky of too small to fit into the game.

  • Try taking out CoB for Merciless Storm, on doctor it procs pretty much every time meaning gens are 110 seconds minimum. Bamboozle doesn't make much sense on Doctor considering he can prevent people from vaulting with his power. If you feel you really need a chase perk consider brutal strength since like clown survivors tend to predrop against doctor or STBFL for just being generally really good.

As a general tip I feel doctor is very strong at 3 genning due to static blast and t3 madness so identify an area you want to defend early on and try to keep chases on that area and don't be afraid to drop chase if survivors run too far away from it. As well as dropping chase to use blast in that area to always harass multiple survivor's, I feel doctor's macro game and ability to occupy multiple survivors at once is a bit underrated keeping a survivor at t3 and chasing someone else means that's half the team off gens every time you can make that happen.

That being said some maps are just too large to always make this workable and sometimes you have to take an L on garden or forest but that's just part of the game when the map just says no to you but on average you can still win a ton with doctor.

I am more amazed by the amount of Us vs Them topics on this forum.

It's been this way for years. As long as there's plenty of people that only play one side I would assume it'll never end.

  • Adrenaline/Prove Thyself/Dead Hard/Unbreakable

Completely meta survivor build and completely free.

Killer on the otherhand I'll give you the killer meta is completely behind licensed killers which is unfortunate.

  • Yeah some cenobites do that and run face the darkness and thrill of the hunt and game becomes pretty much unplayable lol. Pig can kinda do that too and make getting traps off a nightmare but at least that's progressing the game, cenobite can nearly take the game hostage.

  • It's more than likely licensed but other than that there's nothing. However things were leaking before that seems to have been sealed up we're pretty much completely in the dark about this one other than we know what it isn't but nothing about what it is.

    -It's not FNAF

    -It's not Terrifier

-It's not a Stranger Things return

Besides that it's anybody's guess. I had made a thread joking about it being Alien which like maybe but realistically I have no idea, there's not too many big licenses out there still for them to go get. Jason is probably more of a when than if now that the lawsuit is settled and I have no doubt they'd fast track them if they got the license but I don't think it's Jason's time just yet. Pennywise was a hard no from Warner Bros. last I heard and I feel like Candyman's time came and went so honestly unless it is Alien my guess is another video game crossover like Evil Within or a second Silent Hill chapter.

  • They said by the end of the week but that was supposed to be the end of last week. Maybe by middle of next month I would guess now.

  • I mean they're playable but it's a miserable experience. Good luck setting up a pincer attack on a survivor without those 4 extra seconds of hunt time.

  • The problem with eyrie is eyrie is basically it's the worst part of suffo pit made into an entire map instead of it just being the center. The gyms on the side are normal but the problem is the half dozen miniloops in the center that connect all of it together. You can go from one side of the map to the other then into main or shack without too much difficulty and creates chases that last way too long. There's really no dead zones on any part of the map. Then this is less of an issue but those bushes have phantom hit boxes and it's really easy to get stuck on them as billy, demo, huntress, etc. I think Eyrie is salvageable but presently there's a reason it's the offering survivors bring when they really wanna escape.

  • Maybe this is a hot take but I actually think The Game is killer sided. Like yes there's lots of pallets but that's it...

    -Strong basement

    -Low number of windows

    -Predictable pathing by survivors

-Gens can take a while to find

-Middle top level can be kinda barren

Mm. Kobes and hook grabs are two of those 'why on earth are these still in the game?' things.

Kobes almost always just give people an 'I quit but I don't feel like DCing' button, and when they do work can be obnoxious for the killer.

Jokes on you I'm running slippery meat.

  • There's dbdleague which you can find on twitch but I'm not sure how that works exactly.

  • I mean we really just need bots to replace DCer's and that's probably all that can be done for soloQ as a whole besides the new info symbols. The rest of the problems is user error, you can't fix stupid and honestly if soloQ is strong enough for bad players to win that's probably too strong.

  • @Bardon said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/359047/killer-perk-changes-to-take-us-away-from-the-regression-meta

It's interesting that you apparently see no need to touch any Survivor perks. Regression has become meta due to the insane speed in which Survivors can complete gens and how heavily they own the early game, which forces the killer into a high-pressure gameplay to stand a chance of doing well. It's a vicious cycle but it starts with Survivors.

It's not that I don't think any survivor needs to be nerfed I just wanted to focus on making some unused killer perks more appealing in ways that didn't involves gen regression.

When it comes to survivor perks I actually think the only one that has to be nerfed is Prove Thyself and maybe Hyperfocus needs to be studied a lot more otherwise they're all fine I think. I think the real problem with survivors is items are too strong so I'd probably focus on nerfing toolboxes and med-kits rather than perks. BNPs and Syringes for sure need nerfs as well as Green Med-kits and Commodious Toolboxes.

So it's a killer perk.... that effectively benefits survivors? Why would any killer run it, then?

Survivors already get 10s of haste and endurance, which should be plenty of motivation to GTFO.

It doesn't benefit survivors other than encouraging them to do what they should probably be doing anyway which if they run to a boon after getting unhooked it then delays that heal but quite a bit. So it's meant to buy time for the killer in a way that's healthier for both sides.

  • @TheWheelOfCheese said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/359047/killer-perk-changes-to-take-us-away-from-the-regression-meta

Hangman's Trick: After being unhooked that survivor gains the broken status effect for 12/15/18 seconds

Coming from an over-1k-hours killer main, this would be an incredibly unhealthy change. Tunneling needs to be made harder, not easier.

I may be assuming how this would play out incorrectly but I actually think it might decrease tunneling because it forces the survivor to run away instead of healing under the hook when the killer often comes back after an unhook so given that, they have to actually hide for 18 seconds and then heal. It's meant to encourage them to run away and not be found while delaying the heal for the killer to buy time. If the killer is basically already at the hook when the unhook happens and wants to tunnel this change doesn't do anything to effect that.

  • @bunnyfengenthusiast said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3301754#Comment_3301754

If you consider that having 4 open gens "not being able to do a gen", then yeah, no one can do a gen until killer gets a down.

    ????

If you make corrupt basekit and make corrupt do what you suggest that only leaves 2 gens left for survivors to work on and they'd have to run across the map to do them and that's not taking into consideration sometimes gens are only for one person that just sounds like trouble.

  • @bunnyfengenthusiast said:

Bad perk changes. The main issue is the early game is way too favored for survivors. Basekit corrupt needs to be a thing, with perk corrupt blocking one or even two more gens. This simple change will do wonders to fix the pace of the game.

So basically nobody is allowed to do a gen before the killer gets a down? That doesn't really seem fun for the survivors if they literally have to wait for the killer to do things before they can do thier objective.

  • There's nothing "wrong" with tunneling and it's usually a smart move but there is a bit of a "one of you isn't going to be in this game for very long" aspect that's not great. I'm not saying you should care about this you shouldn't but BHVR should but nerfing gen times even more isn't the answer atp I think I we've gone down that route as far as we can without making that part of the game a boring slog.

I really think chase oriented perks need to be buffed a ton and nerf gen regression perks across the board heavily. I think the best thing for the game is to encourage killlers to not tunnel and camp by getting them to believe they can get another down in a timely matter if they leave the hook, we don't need longer gens we need shorter chases. Make Beast of Prey hide your red stain at all times let bamboozle be active on multiple windows at once buff brutal strength to 25%, make seeing the killer a "oh ######### this is really bad" moment instead of a "lol I'ma try to loop them for 5 gens" moment. And if this is effective shorten gen times and create harsher penalties for camping and tunneling if that seems needed but I definitely think making killers feel more powerful in chase is the way to go.

But back on topic no the meta is definitely tunnel 1 person out and stack gen regression perks right now so there's not reason to not do that.

  • @MeltingPenguins said:

I know a lot of people will not like this suggestion but:

    Break off the chase

You know where the gens are, break off the chase, go either for someone else or force the survivors that been looping you to leave the loop.

I think this is the correct answer, even if you do get them it will take way too much time and one hook is not worth all that uninterrupted time on gens unless they're on death hook. You're better off trying to 3 gen in the area across the street and ignoring house side entirely I feel.

  • I've wanted weather in DBD for a while but if console DBD can't handle more than two zombies no shot it's handling dynamic weather effects.

  • I only have optimism about DBD atm to be honest. Yes a lot of chapters come out a bit messy but besides that there's only been massive improvements especially in the past 2 years. Even the big perk change this year while creating not the best meta I'll admit at least shows it something they're willing to do.

  • Don't miss.

  • Yun-Jin is my main because she has the most interesting back story. She do be needing more cosmetics though, she has two of her purples about to leave the store cuz christmas, one is linked so you can't match it with anything and one of them is that neon abomination that shouldn't count. That kinda just leaves her with fire moon, the tome outfit and the pop star judge which is not nearly enough for a character that's been out for nearly 2 years.

It used to be Mikaela but honestly her tome was kinda meh and I don't buy the pagan/witch part of her character anymore and that was the part I liked. She's more of a writer and the witch stuff just seems stapled on cuz they needed a character to introduce boons into the game.

  • Survivor: Clairvoyance, I like having a plan B and it also helps prevent 3 gens.

Killer: Territorial Imperative, It doesn't work on all killers but the killers it does work on (Demo and Dredge) it's really fun with Make Your Choice.

  • I honestly think they have no idea what to do with nurse but with her low overall kill rate and them working on a million other things I doubt she's a priority for them. I've given up on expecting a full rework atp and just hope she and blight get an add-on pass at some point and that might be enough.

  • @LibidinousPsyche said:

Oh shoot I didnt know you could crouch through them ty a lot.. So let me ask you this, for the hatch to spawn do all gens need to be done? I had 1 left, and I assumed if it was down to 1 person and 1 gen left the hatch spawns, but maybe I mis read something along the way, but it never spawned or the blood timer thingy. Thanks again on the crouching tip.

ps, but 10 traps wow thats a lot at a given time, she could camp all the gens lol.

Hypothetically speaking you could put a trap at every gen at the start of the game but this is bad in practice because hag has to be within 40 meters of the triggered trap in order to teleport to it (can be extended with add-ons) so if someone triggered a trap on one side of the map hag is near and she teleports to it if you then trigger a trap on the other side she more than likely won't be able to teleport to it in time. Most Hags will just choose the 3-4 most clustered together and the first gen or two against hag is free while she sets up. Honestly disturbing the hag right away so she can't set up her traps properly is a decent counter to her, if she can't set up the web of traps properly in the beginning it's hard for her to keep up with survivors. Also don't worry you're not gonna see her much anyway I'm pretty sure there's only 8 or 9 hag mains in existence, most killer players don't like Hag because she's bad at looping. I was gonna say bad in chase but that's not strictly true if the survivor run the route the hag predicted and set up traps along that route ahead of time. If she didn't than yeah she's a 110% killer without a ranged power and terrible in chase.

  • Okay them asking about Eyrie in the survey means for almost certain that map is gonna have some changes on the PTB I feel like.

    Hype! \o/

  • So on the topic of DCing I don't know if entitlement is the right word for it but I feel like it's very childish for sure. The amount of times I've played soloQ had someone DC on first down or first hook and then the rest of us almost comeback and it becomes very evident if that person had just stayed in we could at least gotten to powered gates is honestly kinda of infuriating and it is ruining the experience for the rest of your team. If the killer is camping yeah that's more annoying to try to beat but it's not some unbeatable strategy it just requires people being willing to hook trade while others do the gens but if somebody DCs any chance of maybe winning usually disappears pretty fast and why do people do this? Because things didn't go perfectly? Gimme a break, these people that fold under the slightest amount of adversity annoy me way more than tunnelers and campers.
