  • I like to call it Garden of this does not spark Joy brought to you by Marie Kondo.

  • Nurse-Makes games too easy and I find looking at the floor all the time obnoxious

Wesker-I don't really play killer to pick some smug ######### in sunglasses.

Bubba-Find thier play too binary. Either instadown or oh no they found a window.

Oni-I have a lot of trouble controlling demon mode.

Ghost Face-Too impatient to really enjoy thier playtime I guess? Also don't like the lack of chase power.

  • I think it's pretty impactful for specific killers, cenobite and pig really like the new hex. Spirit Fury/Enduring enjoyers got thier final piece of the puzzle with hubris (still a meme build IMO but a bit more viable now). And I think nearly every killer likes nowhere to hide.

Fogwise is the best survivor perk we got all year after reassurance. Other two probably a bust though even though I like Potential Energy in theory it's very inconsistent.

Knights exists I think they're very mediocre and in the end forgettable and they'll be as common as twins once we get past thier tome. Victtorio I'd one of my favorite survivors in a while though.

I'd give the chapter 7/10 knight brings down what is otherwise a solid entry.

  • The hook bombing altruism farmers because now with basekit BT they're less of a detriment and make it so I don't have to get off my gen.

  • Haven't played as him but playing against him his guards are pathetic, even assassin isn't that hard to outrun. I think most knights are too greedy for double hits I've had a bunch follow behind me and not hit me cuz they're waiting for the guard but the guard should never hit you if you path correctly.

  • I doubt it gets nerfed it's very good but not OP not to mention that while BHVR acknowledges stealth as a valid playstyle they generally encourage killer-survivor interaction over stealth which the perk enables.

  • I was wondering about this, I played Freddy for the the first time in months maybe almost a year today got Sanctum of Wrath and played basically blind the entire time it was like playing a constantly in phase 115% spirit. Dredge wishes they made the map that dark.

  • It's too early to tell but I'd be interested to see killer stats again around New Years. It'll be interesting to see if we're in an onryo situation where knight is okay but just insanely complicated or a trickster situation where they really do need buffs.

  • I mean does dbd have more problems than something like ow2 but in my mind at least it's a bunch of minor problems all compounded onto each other where as OW2 they made us wait 3 years for what was effectively a balance patch with egregiously worse monetization. If I don't buy a new characters in dbd it doesn't really matter but if I don't buy a battle pass in OW2 and that character is meta I'm gonna have 4 people screaming at me that I'm throwing for 10 minutes most games. So while DBD has problems I guess I can look past it because at least I don't feel like thier trying to squeeze me for everything I'm worth in the most cynical way possible like Activision-Blizzard.

  • It's the first skin I might get in a while, not even in a thirsty way I just think the Barbarian look is really cool.

  • The real answer is "it depends" but it will be at least some of the time, it's more accurate than the bhvr description but it's not the whole story either. Knight's ability to force impossible 3 gens is way more annoying than the antiloop.

  • I'm extremely confused by people saying the knight is weak or you can't play them as "intended". First off the idea that you could ever play the knight by having guards patrol long routes is ridiculous. First you'd have to pick an area for it to patrol then spend time creating the route and then they would have to take time patrolling the route. When in the history of DBD have killers had time to do something slow and cumbersome like that?

In DBD speed is king and powers you can pull off quickly or have high mobility are best that's why Nurse, Blight, Spirit, Oni are at the top. I left out Artist on purpose because more on her later but she's also up there. Powers that are slow and take time to setup are terrible like who do we have in the game with powers like that? Trapper? The worst killer in the game? This is what people want more of? People are complaining about Knight only likely being B tier but I promise if the focused on the part people keep talking about they would be much worse.

Now the other complaint is that Knight is just another Artist which kinda but not really. First people have an oversimplified idea of how Artist works which is drop bird at loop ad nauseum until survivor goes down which you can do yeah but that's not the only reason Artist is good, they also have really good built in information, perk synergies and can snipe from across the map which are also all skills you need to learn with her and knight can do none of these things (knight can synergize with similar perks but in different ways and I imagine his best builds will actually be much different from Artist) why I honestly find it a lazy comparison.

Knight in my opinion is much closer to a fixed twins. Macro game play centered around either double teaming a single survivor or occupying multiple survivor's time. Like we're looking at possibly the best killer at enforcing a 3 gen in the game. Yes the antiloop is there but generally you want to be trying to control the map and herding survivors into dead zones for double hits or chasing a survivor down while keeping a nearby survivor and doing map control and protecting your 3 Gen the entire time. I think this is why people don't think knight will not take skill they will it's just going to test game sense and long term planning instead of mechanical skill.

All in all I think knight is....fine. I don't think the changes change their tier placement much just makes them feel much better to play which is fine because I think they're quite decent and could fall anywhere from low A to mid B tier but you won't see them much in a few months because people don't like playing macro killers.

  • Literally all the gotta do is slow the chase theme down by 15-20% and the full hag suite would be perfection.

  • @Mandy said:

This is mentioned under the known issues in the patch notes, it's a bug that will be fixed.

Okay but what if you and hear me out on this one, didn't fix it?

  • @Rudjohns said:

What happens to all the generic chase music eventually if all killers get an original music?

I have a feeling the original music will wind up belonging solely to trapper, to preserve it and identify trapper as the OG killer.

  • Still better than artist midchapter with all those terrible add-on changes for nemesis, clown and twins. Going mostly neutral with a small win for the hag music is still better than posting big Ls.

  • I didn't know about this and just looked it up and omg does it slap hard! Both the menu and the chase music is great!

Good job to all the people that worked on it, time I dusted off my hag and return to my first main. \o/

  • It barely makes a difference lmao.

Ace is the only one who's actually significantly quiter than average but you're mostly gonna see Feng's and Meg's who are loud af.

  • Dredge can be really dominant but it's map dependent and requires so much work and I imagine a lot of people would rather play an easier killer. Not to mention playing without haddie's calendar which speeds up getting out of locked lockers can make it a frustrating experience even if you're doing well.

  • No it was going to be a thing and DBD assets were going to be able to be used as NFTs by boss protocol but the backlash was so strong it got scrapped. Clive Barker also got the rights to Hellraiser back soon after but idk if that actually had anything to do with it.

  • Going onto EGS was the single worst choice BHVR has made with this game save maybe the Pinhead NFT stuff. A lot of people said you would see a massive increase in cheaters if you made the game free and look what happened.

  • I don't know why people keep comparing Dredge to Onryo, they're barely anything alike. Dredge is closer to Freddy than anything else.

  • With how much attention it's getting I'd be shocked if the next chapter didn't have something to do with Maurice in some capacity, I really doubt Maurice's story is over.

  • I think it's one of the most balanced maps in the game and probably my favorite overall.

My only complaint is I think changing it to a night map and making the snow more extreme would make the map much more exciting for both sides and would make the main building a more interesting as a refuge from the poor visibility of outside.

  • Okay I actually started reading it and it gets worse, this is from the hag section...

"If you play as a survivor regularly, two terrifying killers you’ll come up against frequently are The Hag and The Nurse."

I think I've seen hag like 4-5 times all year.

And then in the pyramid head section.

"Therefore, the best way to play The Executioner is to try and hook all survivors twice, rather than prioritizing that third and final capture"

...word? Which I corrected it but they spelt it "prioritising" in the article. Somebody made money from this and that's upsetting.

  • And this is why gaming journalism is in the gutter, they probably played like 1 game with every killer and this was the result.

You should never trust tier lists form any news site ever they don't binge games long enough to have a good take because they try to cover everything because more articles = more $$$ and it's pure quantity over quality.

  • I have tiny gripes with the ordering within tier but everything is in the ballpark of where they should probably be, good list.

  • Taking a break right now since facing wesker every game was stressful especially with everyone suiciding on hook so I figured I'd let the wesker hype die down a bit. I'll be back when the new tome drops.

  • Do we get to shoot nurse in the face now?

  • Personally for me spirit is pretty boring it's just hit-phase-hit.

Plague has so many different playstyles. You can go for quick downs with apples, aura reading build with black incense, even her meme brown add-on is actually good and gets people sick extremely quickly. The reason I would say not plague is if you're impatient cuz you do have to take the time to get people sick and build up some pools most of the time but she feels broken once you do.

  • Just don't get caught 4head.

Not but for real it can be real stressful so you almost have to go in not expecting to escape and just play for points and then if things go well you can start thinking about the best way to escape.

  • I wish we had gotten an amusement park for clown instead of asylum with just some assets thrown to a tiny part of the map. Having a merry go round and a haunted house coulda been really cool.

Alternatively I think an airport could make for a cool map I think just because I loved going through the airport level in l4d so something like that.

  • Vigil-I know it's only 12 seconds off exhaustion perks but I've made myself so used to that timing that running exhaustion perks without it feels terrible.

Boon CoH-I hate not having a way to heal and like being able to create a healing station for everyone, feels like it gives me an objective besides just gens.

  • Make it possible for Freddy to teleport to his snares and pop out of them.

Make people unable to heal teammates that are awake and vice versa, it doesn't make sense you can interact with them if you're technically on two different planes of existence.

I'd argue for not even being able to see teammates but soloQ is already disorganized enough as it is and as cool as it would be to make the dream world an isolating experience you want to escape from ASAP it would probably make Freddy S tier against solos.

  • I'm gonna have an actual hot take and say Jason Vorhees, I just don't think there's anything interesting about them and they wouldn't bring anything new to the game so would be a waste of time.

  • I mean Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly all need thier moris updated still. There's a lot of stuff on the to-do list who knows when they get to what.

  • I wonder how many are specifically from epic games.

But they have to try it, they brought an Ebony Mori.

Their stakes are high, they absolutely need that 4K and a Mori.

They will hold you in that game for 30 minutes if they have to.

Can you not picture it? If you don't let them kill you you're being toxic. Brining an Ebony Mori is toxic. Survivors DCing the moment they see a hidden fifth offering.

It's 20k BP it's not that serious, you literally get more BP not dragging out the game and just playing two games instead lmao.

What about when the killer tunnels out two of your team mates, slugs you and goes after the final survivor?

Yes slugging for the 4K will still be a thing, because the Last Standing mechanic ensures it. Killers are encouraged to activate their Mori now, to either bypass hook stages and end the game early, or to secure their 20,000 BP bonus for the Mori offering. This means the only way to secure that bonus will be to slug for the 4K.

yes the survivors will just pick themselves back up, but that just means the killer will have to keep knocking you back down again.

Instead of lying on the ground for 4 minutes, you'll be playing whack-a-mole (sorry, you're the mole) with a killer who knows exactly where you are because he knows where he downed you.

This will have you held hostage in a game longer than 4 minutes, because every time you pick yourself back up (just to get smacked back down again) you're pausing your 4 minute timer.

Then I bring tenacity and unbreakable and make it very annoying for them to actually try to do that.

  • I think I'm willing to trade any potential negatives from this in return for not having to be on the ground for 4 minutes, I don't love it but what we have now kinda sucks too so I'm willing to give it a chance.

  • Oh a reporting system relying entirely on players to record all their games and do all the work backed up only by a terrible anti-cheat that doesn't really work is leading to the game being miserable? Who could have possibly seen this coming?

BHVR has been ignoring this issue for years and it's finally becoming too much, we'll see if they take it more seriously now that the game is becoming literally unstreamable but probably not.

  • It depends. Do you only care about BP? Then no. Do you have a perk related to breaking dulls. Then also no. But besides that it usually is bad play since you're screwing over people bringing CoH and wasting time.

I don't buy the "oh I'm just preventing NOED" argument because 1. You don't know they have NOED. and 2. You can see the totem aura now so it's extremely easy to find when you need to do it. 3. You're only "preventing NOED" if you're committing to breaking all 5 totems which takes waaaaay too long. In reality you're just breaking a totem that was easy to find and making sure the killer gets a better NOED location later on.

  • Just make him start at 110% in T1 instead of 105% and give him ghost faces lean and myers is fine.

It's kinda funny, we were all under the impression the perk was working as intended

So nobody reported it as a bug, which meant it never got fixed until the programmer made a similar perk and noticed.

Not faulting him for fixing the bug but hopefully the designers ask him to make it how it was previously (He did say in the tweet that it's up to them, so there's hope!)

I know people like to say BHVR doesn't play their game which I usually roll my eyes at but now.....I think they may actually be right at least for a decent amount of people at BHVR...

Also we can only hope it gets changed back because blast mine was at least kinda decent before not good mind you but very usable but now there's no reason to touch it and it makes me sad cuz I used it quite a bit.

So here's your offiical answer from one of DBD's gameplay programmers. Someone mentioned it earlier but here's the tweet

    Bruh....

    I'm actually speechless.

  • It's gonna be like kinship where it doesn't make sense in soloQ but I would not be surprised to see people start bringing reassurance in tournaments.

  • Wait I think I missed the part about why I should care?

  • They pretty much murdered the only use it actually had which was to signal you were working on a gen, absolutely ridiculous change.
