What the- do you not realize what they have done? They copy and pasted this event but purposely took out the main reason everyone was looking up to the event.
On top of that the added a surv addon that allows them to gain a free sprint burst basically.
This event has been a major disappointment to everyone in the community really.
I don't think people have realsied that past events have been the same right? It's not like ppl were honestly expecting a new gamemode or anything srsly.

@MadLordJack said:
The most disappointing event ever. Remember last year, how we at least had event currency? How we could earn the skins much faster than grinding for 96 hours per set?
Yea but also remember last year literally brought nothign new to the table apart from the fact that the currency could be earned throuhg the rift instead of other ways. This year we've got some pretty wack addons and alot of things from the older events.
It might not be the most "exciting" event but it's definitely far better than some other one's there's been. Most notably last year's halloween one, this year's lunar one and the fact that there wasn't even a winter event this year.

@Sophrosynes said:
Admittedly, its my first halloween event, and literally nothing changed. Its the same gameplay, but with a pumking on a gen. Space Coconut was rigth after all
When has an event ever actually changed anything be honest?
-
Honestly people are being incredibly judgy and picky about this event. Yes it's not the best event dbd has had but is it the worse? By far no.
Look at last year's halloween event. All there was was serum which you could get from the rift pass which lead to cosmetics and the standard halloween items.
This event not only brings another objective in the game again but also some pretty wacky addons for both killer and survivor.
Don't ever get you're hopes too high for an event in a game like dbd, you gotta remember at the end of the day they can't add in gamebreaking mechanings or anything that messes up the balance.

That said, it was a thing during the PTB too so if it's still in the game IDK. Maybe it's a bug that's just hard to fix?
Yea maybe, I definitely noticed it's harder to pull of now but when done right it still completely negates the change like you said.
Wonder how long it'll take to fix this, cause im genuinely keen to see how he is to vs without it, think he could be a fun killer to vs now.

I see ruin and undying as a good thing for survivors. Ruin isnt that good. It regresses generators at half the speed that survivors repair them. Big deal, it may take a little longer if you get found but if your team are good they will save the generator from regressing. Not only is the killer using a fairly bad perk, they are protecting it with another perk slot. This means that the killer has only 2 perks working for them in a chase. Most maps, totems take a minute or two to find all of them. If you arent the type of survivor to "do bones" (like me, I dont do bones against this build because most killers realise that if they run ruin and undying, then they might force people to cleanse all the totems, making noed useless) then it will take around 2 minutes to find a totem. If its not the undying then chances are that you have seen the other totems already and know which ones are not the undying if you see another hex totem. its not a good combo and doesnt need a nerf. Killer who run it just need to experiment with other perks and to stop following misguided metas. Put on Pop, its 10x better for half the perk slots, and its there all game.
I agree in that I'll always run pop over ruin as it feels like you have more control over it. Although ruin may not always be as good, it doesn't take any effort on the killers part and basically makes it so killers don't even have to worry about kicking gens or anything to do with manging gen progressions, a huge part of the game. It's like how old legion rendered learning how to beat survivors in chase a useless skill.

Please elaborate, if you slug them they get up, if you hook them you get stunned, if they grab a gen, you get stunned, if they locker you get stunned, if you leave them alone they have 60 seconds to do as they please including gens, saving people, body blocking, seeking for items, healing....
How is there any counter play other than, just powering through the perk or wait while they crawl to the exit, to a pallet to setup for a save, buy time while their friends do gens because you know killers have 60 seconds to camp and is really something nobody complains about? What counterplay is available to a killer?
You can power through Ruin if you want, you can ignore it or you have an alternative action you can do bones, you can also wait for your team to pick up the slack. For which you can bring a map or perks to even help you if you deem that necessary. There is an action you can do against it to actively counter it.
You know you can just ignore recently unhooked people right? If you're on teh other side of the map applying pressure by downing and hooking other survivors, then you're forcing the ds survivor off of gens. Yes unbreakable does counter slugging, but A) You can only use unbreakable once and B) It's still wasting time as they can't do anything for the duration they are on the floor AND often it'll encourage other players to get of the gens and go for the pickups either to save the unbreakable or because they don't know they have it.
Yea you can power through ruin but you've gotta be hoping the killer you're vsing doesn't know anything about rotating or downing people or applying pressure. Any killer who has half a brain can make it so ruin will constantly be undoing almost all of you're work.
Oh and if you're running into DS even though you aren't tunneling, then that means you're downing people more than fast enough that the ds shouldn't hurt you that much.

Killer one's allow you to literally teleport infront of you rendering pallets, distance, walls or anything useless. Survivor one only gives you a speed boost similar to that of hope or bloodpact.

They are hex perks, just do bones or deal with it. At least they have a counter play in contrary to the survivor meta perks, like seriously... hexes are to strong? They are supposed to be strong, because they are hexes! Knock over a pile of bones and they do nothing for the remainder of the trial.
Their counterplay is comparable to that of ds unbreakable, infact i would argue ds unbreakable has more than ruin undying.

If you dont know it's there, it's a free stun. Baiting it is the only thing you can do, and sometimes that doesnt work. I'm not saying its op, just a poorly designed perk without much counter play.
The only time you should ever get head on'd is when you don't know the survivor is in the locker, which means they've gotta somehow get in their and remain silent or else you'll just spot them and bait it. Yes baiting it is the only thing you can do but it's also a very effective thing you can do.
I feel like there are far worse killer/survivor perks with little counterplay.

It is.... Because they are 2 killer perks. They are designed to do two things.
1. Make survivors hunt down totems in the early game to prevent the effects later
And
2. Ensure that IF survivors do no cleanse totems in the early game they are punished for not working in the secondary objective, the totems.
I understand that people dont like dealing with that, however the purpose of these perks are to make survivors have to make choices. Do you want to work on totems early and slow your early game? Or do you want to not do the totems and possibly run the risk of having them be a problem later.
But none of these are feasible choices for the survivors as they always result in tremendous amounts of killer pressure and making it much harder to win. It’s very much like the situation with deathslinger and pyramid head. You have two options, but both of them are garbage.
Also I know people like to say doing totems is a secondary objective but it’s really not. I know having a secondary object WOULD be a good idea but totems is not the way to go about it, and having two perks that part completely change the game by forcing a secondary objective isn’t good either.

Yes I do see my point. Ruin undying helps keep survivors off gens to improve game time. The fact is.people often dont heal until they have to, many people get the gen they are on popped before going for the save. It os working fully as intended, encouraging a secondary objective.
You just said it keeps survivors off of gens, but it punishes survivors for not being on gens? How does that work? That sounds liek something that is indefinitely stacked towards the killer.

Not even stronger than what the survivors had, 1 OoO is stronger than that, I can't deny that it's a strong build but nowhere near strong as all those perks together and you know it, now 4 small pp builds, you can't slug, you can't tunnel, even when you don't tunnel you get DS'ed.
"But it's rng dependant" yes but survivors most of the time spawn in totems (except in certain maps most of the new ones and the reworked ones)
So many times my undying totem has broken even before they did 1 gen then ruin.
Meanwhile DS and UB still play out, "waste their unbreakable" still they get the 30% faster recovery or 35% can't remember the number.
OoO always work "but stealthy killers" no their icon still lights up.
DS even if 3 don't have it, just one you have to play around it because there is an obsession.
The OP was using blight a normal TR killer, survivors can always see him except when tinkerer is on but they can still use the icon to track him.
Most likely they were also on coms (not that many can play without a swf) and we don't know what map the OP got, just one OoO is annoying now 3 they were always able to tell where the killer was.
A smart group of survivors will play around undying and ruin, a killer will have a harder time against a build like that.
Edit: I know he played a corn map, which is really hard for blight, the OP did an excellent job at playing it right.
I've literally played in a tourny using ruin undying tinkerer on blight and its unstoppable. You know its insane when you're able to 4k in a tournament using a non spirit or nurse killer.
From when i've used the build myself, i've hardly ever had people take out both totems within 5 minutes. Survivors will sometimes opt to just try and push out gens but that never works because i just force them off of them no biggie.
And if you're needing tunneling or campign with blight using that build often then i've got some questions about your skill.

Yes the killer had very strong builds themselves but he still have to play well to win. The first point is just anecdotal.I could ask you why in the majority of my games ruin and undying is gone with 4 survivors left alive.
Never denied that that isn't a very strong combo.
And what's even wrong about this? You still have to pressure people of gens, down them AND defend your totems. And you still have be fast at downing them because otherwise you may have saved that 1 gen but lost 3 other gens in the process.
When did i call survivor meta perks gamebreaking?I called them game changing.Huge difference between both.
As much as you dislike it but slugging, camping and tunneling are part of the killers objective. And those perks are designed to hinder the killer doing that
Similiar to that the Ruin and Undying combo exist to make it harder for survivors to complete their objective as well.
Your last point doesn't add anything to the discussion.I could just say that ruin and undying is fine or do you want old ruin or nurse back?
You don't have to believe me, watch majority of streamers and you will see that their ruin undyign lasts for over 5 minutes most games, more than enough time to secure a win as killer.
There are many things wrong with it. If removing a whole element of killer isn't game breakign enough then idk what is. You don't even need to defend your totems that's what undying does, and if you're that anxious about ruin popping you can see whenever people are on totems u know. You don't even need ot pressure people off of gens if you are a decent killer and able to get downs. Once again ruin does all the side work for you.
Camping is most certainly NOT a killer objective, the emblem system literally punishes you for doing so. Sure you might argue that tunneling and slugging is part of a killer objective but it's switching on easy mode as killer and means you don't need to think as much. Thus ds and bt stop killers from just taking the easy road and add a risk for those who wish to partake in such actions.
Your rebuttal to my last point makes no sense either. No-one is calling for nurse nerfs or ruin by itself nerfs.
-
@NepalibyDaylight said:
Undying at the least needs the aura reading removed and that ability put onto Thrill of the Hunt instead.
Other than that, the whole 'well there needs to be a secondary objective anyways' argument is pointless. Hexes should not be a bandaid fix for that. Dull totems should just add more resistance on opening the exit gate if they are still standing base kit. Maybe give it a stronger one if the killer spends a bit of time doing some type of ritual at it. That too would make thrill of the hunt more useful.
So instead of just saying 'do the bones' - protect the totem either with your multiple chances or aura reading. Not in one perk. Run another perk slot if you can't use your eyes.
Yea adding one insanely strong perk combo won't change anything that some people want balanced with gen speeds or whatever.

Uhh,do you honestly think you could compare perks like DS,Unbreakable,Borrowed Time,Sprint Burst etc. with Thana,Sloppy etc. ?
These perks, aren't even remotely as game changing than the survivor meta perks.
Ruin and Undying is fine.It doesn't automatically win the match for killers.
They still heavily rely on RNG and their skill to prioritize whether it is better to down the person he's chasing right now, defend a gen that is about to pop or defend the hex totem a survivor is cleansing in that moment
Explain why in more than majority of games ruin undying hasn't even popped by the time two people are dead.
You can't deny ruin undying isn't very strong, why else would literally every streamer and majority of killers be running it? You don't even need to think as much whilst running it. Just chuck on two perks and you don't need to worry about gen regression, you don't need ot worry about taking too long to down someone cause ruin wiil just negate any longer chases which survivors may have with killers.
Yes DS unbreakable bt and that are strong, but gamebreaking? Seriously? Most of survivor's "busted" perks are actually designed to counter scummy killers and scummy plays: camping, tunneling and slugging exessively.
I don't want to get into the ds unbreakable argument cause it seems that's the only method people have of distracting from the insanity of ruin undying but i'll leave you on this one, would you rather have the old ds/bt and exhaustion back?

So the killer is garbage but gens are "unable to pop" meaning he kept.you all off of the gens cuz ruin only works when survivors arent repairing. Sounds like the killer is doing his job and survivors are failing to do theirs
You don't need to be actively forcing people off of gens to get ruin value. Hooking people makes others get of their gens and go for the saves, healing requires getting off of gens, doing totems which is what people say to ruin undying haters requires getting off of gens, you see the point?: there are so many situations where survivors need to get off of gens. I ran ruin undying tinkerer on blight and I think i lost less than 1/50 games. I didn't even need to think or try most of the games because ruin basically doubled the length of games, thus i didn't need to worry about roating, making sure i can down people realtively quickly or any other basic killer skills.

Yeah I play a lot with Oni, Deathslinger, Nurse and Hill Billy and yes they are awesome but I can't play against them because I don't see them, the people don't want to spend a lot of time to learn be a good killer, because the process is large and frustrating, for example the pig, I love the pig but you don't notice that is very rarely that some one die for the jigsaw boxes maybe they can improve the jigsaw boxes
Fair I guess.
Although there are killers like freddy and spirit for those who don't want to go through that process.
-
Probably the best thing to do in that case would be to buff all of the lower tier killers like clown, legion and pig so they are more competent against swfs because atm strong killers are fine against them and usually have much smaller problems, it's the weaker ones that suffer.
Maybe a secondary objective should be added but something relatively small and doesn't require large amounts of m1 holding, something you have to do too much already.
Also i think waiting for stats after this would be wise as well, currently we really don't know how the average swf team peforms, sometimes you can even mistake a swf for solo, so it would be interesting to see exactly how much more elevated they are.

All i can think is people are just upset they cant rush gens in 5 minutes and end the game instantly. Or another ruder way to put it "Why do survivors insist on the 4 escape?! One/Two escaping is a win"
No the problem is a killer could be playing utterly garbage a whole game yet gens are unable to pop due to ruin undying and thus the killer wins the game. Completely takes away from killers who played well in a match or are skillful.

Huh? How about gen rushing perks? How about ds, bt, unbreakable, and dh. Ruin is high risk and high reward. There's nothing wrong with tinkerer, undying, and ruin. If ruin goes slower then it shouldn't be a hex perk. 200% is fair. Unless you want no more killers playing, that means longer waiting and less fun games. It has to be fair and fun for everyone.
Ds, bt and unbreakable are all anti-tunnel, anti-camp and anti-slug perks which have nothing to do with gen speeds whatsoever. If killers just avoided these playstyles they would hardly come across these perks. Ruin is high risk high reward by itself but undying bascically removes the risk factor out of it as either survivors waste huge amoutns of time cleansing and finding totems or play the whole game with ruin and the killer constantly pushing them off of gens.

The thing with Pigs Exhaustion-Add On is that it just teaches a bad way of playing Pig - tunneling the guy with the Trap. This person cannot do Gens anyway, so there is not really a reason to follow them once they are unhooked, because they cannot progress the game. But the Exhaustion Add On (and other Add Ons like Mangled) basically invite to tunnel the person with the Trap.
That's a fair point actually never thought about it in that way. Personally i like to go for the people who don't have traps on because it forces the trapped people to go for unhooks and stuff and potentially resulting in a head pop if they are forced to do too many other objectives but i can see why people would tunnel those with hats.
-
It’s only fair blight is hard to play, he is insanely strong. Just spend time learning him and you will be able to use him effectively. Same goes with many other killers yet people refuse to learn them as they want easy wins the first time they play them.
Oni is still very strong weird that you havnt seen anyone play him.
And it’s not a nerf to pyramid head. In fact it might even be a buff to people who can play him well.

I did some research and found out some things about spriit and hag.
1st spirit only had a cooldown buff, other than that people didn't understand her power
2nd hag used to have a stun after teleporting which was removed, which is pretty substainal even if it was only one year into the game
So my point still stands, 2017 to 2018 had better tools but worse players, 2019-2020 had the opposite
Idk then I would continue to argue there were MANY good players back then, you just have to look at noob3 to start. But I guess it does depend on people’s experiences. For certain the average solo q was a lot worse, but they are still bad today.
-
I think exhaustion addons are ok in some contexts. For example pigs is fine and demos is fine because conditions have to be met by the killer in order for them to work and you can avoid it as survivor. Huntress and clowns however does not work, as they literally just need to hit you and gas you and there goes one of your perks.
it also dumbs down killers and makes them play as if exhaustion perks never existed.

Majority and all are 2 different things. Like i said i haven't checked if hag has been buffed so imma check. I have only heard of spirit nerfs so im also going to check that as well. What i do know is a majority of players weren't as sweaty as they are today.
I would argue I get more baby survivors and blendettes than I did two years ago.

That's the thing, that's the beginning of the nerfs, in the very early days when people didn't know how to abuse ######### they didn't do that. This is the equivalent of a millennial talking to a zoomer when they aren't separated by that many years. And then you remember the op ######### killers also have, ruin was strong before people started hitting skill checks, nurse was op, billy was in his prime, michael was stronger due people lacking awareness of their surroundings. Not to mention hag i don't think has been nerfed but im prob wrong Then you have the arrival of spirit, who had to be nerfed so many times. I agree survivors were stronger back then, but when a majority don't know how to abuse it and killers have stronger kits it makes the point mute.
Have you never seen the video of tru3talent chasing a claud at the old meat tree for 30 minutes? That was before even nurse came into the game btw so u can’t use the argument that all survivors were bad.
Moris and Nurse were really the only things that much stronger back in the days. Old ruin although tediously only hurt bad survivors and often was taken out because people would actively search for it. Hah was far weaker when she was released than now. Spirit was actually perceived to be weak when she was first released so she was buffed quite a lot and she’s still just as strong today as she was a year ago.

Exactly if you were playing nurse game was a breeze if not game was forever stacked against you.

By the way, you don't seem to know what killers had against survivors aswell.
I know what they had, nothing which was even in comparison to what survivors had and especially when they knew how to use it. Mori off of first down? LMAO good luck getting a down in the first place unless you’re playing nurse. Servers in favour of killer? Didn’t matter cause there was a million pallets that you could just drop them all instantly and not worry about lag.
Sometimes I wish some killers these days could be thrown into a 2016 dbd match and see how they feel about that. The game is far more balanced now than it ever has been. In fact I would argue some parts are even killer favoured.

"Being able to charge ambush without any slowdown would probably lead to a pyramid head type situation where there's nothing you can do as survivor."
That would depend on their environment, current position and how fast they react to the roar. It wouldn't be a no win in the majority of circumstances. IMO that is entirely fair considering they are being ambushed. It gives them more intensive to take things slow and keep and eye out and most of all to always play with the knowledge that at any time they can be ambushed by the Pig. If they play with that in mind they will always keep their escape options in mind.
Yea it really does depend on how it plays out. But last think i want is for it to be something which makes it so you cant be within 10 metres of a pig without being ambushed with nothing to do.

Hang on a minute but if you break the hex totem how can it just deactivate the original totem is gone. It would have to go to anither totem.
No as in the effects of ruin would not work for another minute or however long.

Well, your solution is basically force the killer to run some other perk instead of this.
As now, there are at least 3 good combo on killer. CI + PGTW, Ruin + Undying and Enduring + Spirit Fury. The last one less used cause Enduring was nerfed a little and now only work on pallets.
I don't want to talk about survivor, we already know the combo the red rank are using, but it's basically the same. Killer can't force survivor to change their perk only cause killer don't like it. And survivor can't force killer to change their perk too for the same reason.
Cleansing all 5 totem is 12*5 = 60 seconds. It's a little less than a generator, so i don't know where did you take the 2 generator time. To circle around and trying to find it? Survivor aren't alone. You need to hope your teammate do the totem too. If not, you can bring a map or changing one of your perk.

DS and UB doesn't need an activation (exept a skillcheck) and don't need survivor to change their playstyle, so your argoment is invalid. You can't nerf a side cause doesn't require an activation and ignore the other side that are the same.
The other totem have penality cause they have stack, and Undying doesn't transfer stack. I think is fair, cause, with DH or HL the game will be... tragic. But this are strong hex. The counter to Ruin, when is still up, it's cleansing the totem OR repair a gen, that is your main objective. Killer can't be anywhere anytime, so you have plenty of time to pop some gen even with Ruin + Undying up.
Ummm there are far more combos than that. Thana sloppy, surge corrupt, dying light thana, devour TOTH etc. Killers already have so many good combos that having one that completely changes the speeds at which gens are able to pop is just unessasery and tedious.
For your cleansing point, well did you take into account that you actually have to find AND run to each different totem, WHILST avoiding the killer as if you're pushed off you loose all your progress, WHILST having to deal witht he fact that undying allows the killer to see when your on a totem. No the killer cant be everywhere at once but its not hard to pressure multiple places and get downs leading to even more pressure.
And for your ds argument, i'm not here to discuss that. Yes maybe ds should be looked at again at some point but this is literally the only perk which is consistently tedeous to good killers, and even then it can be avoided.

I like some of your ideas but ur radical ideas are a bit over the top. Being able to charge ambush without any slowdown would probably lead to a pyramid head type situation where there's nothing you can do as survivor, although i like the idea of a much longer ambush which should definitely happen. For your radical idea for the rbt's that would lead to so many situations where pigs would just camp the last box so the survviors were guaranteed to die. I honestly think the rng element should just be nerfed and you shouldn't be able to take off the hat at your first or second box.

Ah yes, another thread of some meatball whining about a killer perk being decent for once. Yeah let’s nerf this now that we’ve needed pop. Gotta make sure those gens can’t be slowed down to a somewhat manageable speed. Like it’s so shocking how dumb ppl are. You do realize by constantly whining about any kind of benefit killers have, all it does is cause a nerf and make ppl quit killer. So you get less games, longer queue times... like I don’t like waiting 5-10 minutes for a game just because ppl like you cry about a perfectly fine perk combo and also one of the only viable ones because ur too garbage to go and cleanse totems. I play both survivor and killer equally, we as survivors have a stupid amount of broken or very strong perks. killers don’t have any broken ones and maybe 5 strong ones. It’s dumb that every time a perk becomes strong, we have to whine about it because it’s not a free win every time now
Go on list me any "broken" survivor perks apart from ds.
Killers have quite a few strong perks actually clearly you just don't experiment with a wide range of builds, i can tell you run ruin undying tinkerer on most if not all of your killers.
Look nerfing this combo has nothign to do with "making sure genrushing still exists", it's the fact that it's extremely consistent and out of line compared to other strong regression perks and combos.
And if gen speeds are broken then tell my why myself and many other killer mains are able to consistently 4k?
Oh and about your statement of its not a free win every time, kinda hypocritical to say considering that's literally what undying ruin does.

Shrug. It's entirely relevant to the discussion at hand. You don't get to nerfherd without people pointing out that there is a reason for killers to need some strong perk combos at present.
Double standards aren't good.
There's plenty of other strong killer combos out there. Are you sayign that killers had nothign before the most recent chapter?
Another question, why has ds unbreakable only been kicked up as such a fuss since the past few months yet its been out for almost two years.
