  • Your icon was clown so I wondered if you might be a clown main and it's harder to get kills with clown. Sorry if I sent the wrong message.

  • What's your perk builds? And do you play agressive or defensive with them?

^ this guy/girl gave me great tips for Killer. Listen to them @OP. 💜

    Did my tips help you?

I'm a survivor main, but I have been maining killer for about a month or two now. Mainly because If survivor queue is long, I can always play killer instead :).

At the moment, I main huntress Rank 5. I'm not the best huntress, but I'm decent, on average I down someone after 15 - 30 seconds of a chase.

    ==========================

    Start of the game:

Get about one hook and maybe one injured before a gen is popped.

    Mid game: (Part 1)

    Get about 3 / 4 downs, 2 / 3 hooks

    Mid game: (part 2)

Down someone, gen gets popped... Taking them to hook, gen gets popped... Thinking 'okay last gen let's try and guard these ones'... Soon as I hook then, gates are powered...

    End game:

Feel bad that I'm proxy camping at such a low rank, but it has to be done for a kill...

Good survivors (all red ranks normally) have BT and bodyblock the injured survivor.

    Stats:

No kills, 23K or less BP, feel disappointed in my skills as killer (especially if they're my best killer)

No matter how well I play, how many hooks and downs I get, how much pressure I put on the map, how lowkey bad the survivors can sometimes be....The last 3 gens get popped simultaneously, maybe 5 or 10 seconds apart.

I main survivor so I know, gens are the objective. But I don't know how these red ranks I play against manage to pop gens so quick :/.

If you have any tips, perk recommendations, playstyle tips, please let me know.

    I ain't ranting or complaining!!! <=

I'm just looking for advice :)

    What's your perk build?

I love playing Clown but I'm still figuring the game out. I've also enjoyed Myers, Doctor, Legion, and Freddy.

Why do you ask, out of curiosity?

Clown is often regarded as the worst killer in the game you can still get a 4k with him but it's a lot harder. Your icon was clown.

  • @shiffpup2 said:

Why am I even playing as the killer when I always get survivors that are 5+ ranks better than me? And why are they always the salty teabaggers?

Let me see if I can help. What's your killer main and what perks do you run?

  • @Theninjajesus said:

So, I encounter SWF groups and when I stick around and play and (of course) do terribly because they're coordinating intel via voice chat, in the end game lobby they go "lulz too ez". When I can tell they're SWF and quit they go "lulz rage quit loser". If I can tell in the lobby I disconnect which has been exceptionally painful given killer queues are upwards of five minutes now. When I don't tunnel them or camp them, they teabag me at pallets, and if I do play toxic as a result they complain about that. The complaints about camping are there in defiance of any intel I have- if Whispers or BBQ indicates they're within 40 meters and most likely on the way to unhook I get called a "f--king facecamper" even though I'm running around, checking all the corners, taking down all thrown pallets, and reloading whatever I need to for abilities. Flashlight flicking or gesturing at me is also a pr-ck move. I encountered all these behaviors at lower ranks but it's been dialed up to 11 now that I'm mid-to-high tier (encountering 1-3 red ranked survivors in every match).

I really do my best to not be a toxic killer- as I said, I don't facecamp (though if you want to call what I described proxy camping that's fine, I guess...), I only tunnel if the recently unhooked is the only person I see when I loop back to the hook (which undercuts any claims I'm a camper anyway). And with so many SWFs at higher ranks, there could be two gens done by the time I encounter anyone for any meaningful amount of time.

I don't care about getting 4 kills. I'll totally eat it on kills to not play with a bunch of toxic survivors and give them a fun and thrilling game. But the way these folks play it really does make me want to quit. Do a lot of people hit this plateau as killer? I'm not angry, but I am despondent.

This feels like a split between the recent mid-tier players and the red ranks who maintain the red ranks because they've been playing for 1000+ hours. I only have 100ish and while I think I've done well (between rank 8 and 7) if it keeps up like this I doubt I'll want to stay. It definitely feels like Behavior is maintaining two tiers of play, and now breaking into high tier from low tier is basically impossible.

    Are you a clown main?

  • The Devs should change DS in my eyes down to 45 seconds and pause timer in chase. However they should think of a different anti tunnelling also one that is more balanced I had an idea. Along with DS they need to rework a bunch of perks.

  • Not entirely if you're a good Nurse or Oni and can down people quickly then you don't need all gen defense perks.

Most of the time? Dude. I rarely see a match without a skeleton key

Okay well in that case you can face camp a tad but don't do it when they don't deserve it.

  • @ByNWR said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1722196#Comment_1722196

    1. I wouldn't consider myself a lover of facecamping. It's just survival.
    2. 50-50 I guess. They'll sometimes let their friend die on hook. Most of the times they'll save the guy and the one who makes the save kisses floor and so it goes until they understand after 4-5 hooks they better leave. I lately came to realise the best way to camp-not camp is Trapper. If basement is on the cabin, you place a trap on every single door and windown (boths sides of window) and don't break the pallet (this one's the most important one, as they jump over it and they eat it 100%).
    3. No, I don't. The thing with Bubba is that they won't get close and won't try the save. With the rest of the killers it usually happens what I explained on your second question, so it's basically more points for everyone.

Do you actually get bully squads most of the time?

Bullying survivors with flashlights face camp to your heart's desire. But it sounds like you face camp the innocent solo ques who don't even teabag.

Just why do you ruin the game? Can you not land billy curves or nurse blinks? Can you not make hits with Huntress and Pyramid head? Can you not hear with Spirit? Can you not teleport in time with hag? Do you face camp with Bubba and insidious?

Sounds amazing. Spill it! (and explain blood echo in a more coherent way than the game description plz). I don't see any value in making people bleed periodically.

Seriously what does the perk do?

BBQ, Infectious, Sloppy, and Blood echo for the agressive M1s. Blood echo after you hook someone every injured person will get hemmorhage which is worthless but exhaustion also which is the selling point 1 min cool down. Exhaustion lasts 45 seconds. Here's the build you get someone down them get that other person with infectious. Hook the person get to the person downed first they didn't heal because of sloppy which means you get to them and can't use their Dead Hard or Sprint Burst to get away rinse and repeat. Or just run sloppy and blood echo and get creative with the other two but that's what I've used.

  • Well it's for aggressive M1s like Nurse. BBQ, Infectious, Sloppy, Blood echo. You get one injured down them down the other person with infectious hook him go back to the other person injured with BBQ. Who's injured because of sloppy and he won't get away because Blood Echo took his Dead hard or Sprint Burst or any exhaustion perk. Then rinse and repeat or keep Sloppy and Blood echo and change out the other two but that's my build.

Easy, bbq and po.....oh yeah they "fixed" pop.

Um.... Agitation and blood echo (yeah, make sense of that🧐)

I have a nice build with blood echo.

  • Leader+Kindred+ Decisive Strike+ Sprint Burst= get of me off build try that.

  • @Impermanent said:

Christ almighty. Every other... no every 2 out of 3 games is this goddamned broken build. If the devs aren't going to fix it, how about you killers admit that it makes the game easy as goddamned hell and stop running it. I started equipping Small Game to hunt the totems down but it still doesn't help since the aura feature brings the killer to me and I end up getting stopped. Add Tinkerer or an Ebony Mori... this is just more freebie killer fun at survivor expense. When will you devs wake the F up.

Question if there wasn't Ruin Undying what would be your usual perk build?

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1720730#Comment_1720730

It was brought up aggressively in other communities during the heyday of the series. If you are at all familiar with how Dark Souls fans or Undertale fans are, you might understand it. Online communities were flooded with posts from the fans wanting everyone to talk about FNAF, often to the detriment of other topics and discussions. Also, it's worth pointing out that a lot of people like FNAF and aren't particularly obnoxious, but the few that were basically ruined that franchise for the normie passerby. Again, the same issue Dark Souls and Undertale have. An overzealous fanbase that drowns everything they touch with their fandom of choice.

I never thought something could beat DBD toxicity.

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1720715#Comment_1720715

I think a lot of players would like to see more Killers from slasher/horror movies first. Jason, Candyman, Chucky, Pinhead, Pumpkinhead, 4head, and other such classic movie slashers (with head in their name).

Are FNAF gamers really that toxic? And can you tell me why?

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1720704#Comment_1720704

While that might be true for the popularity of the game, individual players are going to make judgments based on their individual feelings. If they don't like FNAF because they got tired of it back in the day, they are going to be against it now. Doesn't mean it's a bad thing for DbD to have, just that a vocal lot are going to dislike it based on their personal experiences.

Okay but do you think there are more people in DBD who would or wouldn't like FNAF in the game?

  • @StibbityStabbity said:

If anyone is anything like me, it's because the FNAF fanbase are pretty obnoxious. Like, "this is my Sonic OC do not steal" obnoxious. Also, some of us slightly older players remember the days of FNAF getting shoved in our faces on Steam and youtube, which did not warm us to it at all.

It's kinda like hearing a pop song all day on the radio or at work, then getting home and listening to a DJ that keeps getting requests for that same song you heard all day. You're already very, very, VERY over it.

I think the annoyance is outweighed by the potential for new players. Stranger things brought in a lot of new players new players equals new money which can go into improving the games quality. And if I'm correct Fnaf fan base is pretty large and new players is a good priority. And they can learn to love the game beyond Springtrap what if someone comes for Springtrap then ends up falling for Trapper, Oni or another license.

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1720650#Comment_1720650

Off the top of my head I can recall people saying that he's too similar to killers we already have, people saying Fnaf is a game for kids, and I remember somebody using a hilarious excuse that the books are distributed by a company that is associated with children's media. Aside from that the usual "popular thing bad" "me too cool for popular thing".

I don't get that. Popular things means more people will com in to play the game. And as far as I'm aware we don't have any mechanical cyborg killers unless they mean lore then yes he's similar to Freddy.

  • @Elena said:

But Springtrap is the one I see the most arguing over and one the community is the most split about.

That is some bullshit, and a lot of it clearly. I see the majority of the community wanting iconic horror characters like Jason, Xenomorph, Pennywise, Chucky etc. Oh and don't forget Sidney and Brenda. Springtrap compared to them is nothing in my opinion, Springtrap isn't a horror classic killer.

However and hear me out those are already fans we have. We have the people already fans of the classics Jason and the Xeno could bring some fans but a lot of them we already have, but Springtrap is new. Springtrap fans are likely not as familiar with classics. Bringing in Springtrap will likely being new players that is what the Devs should seek out. While we need to keep the current players happy. Bringing in new people to play is just as crucial or more crucial.

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

Is there any other character as decisive as Springtrap? I doubt it, people really love driving home the idea that he is a baby character from a children's game. I'm not sure why that is, I have a very basic understanding of the games and even I understand that yes it is very pg and has endless amount of younger fans, that alone doesn't change the fact that Springtrap is a irredeemable, unstoppable, psychotic child murderer akin to Freddy Krueger, a killer already in Dead by daylight. Honestly I wouldn't and won't care if he makes it in the game, but at the same time I find it hard to believe he isn't on his way here already.

He's similar to Pyramid Head in the sense that he's a popular character, but the vocal majority doesn't want him here.

Do you know the specific reason others don't want Springtrap? I also have a vague idea of the lore of FNAF just read it. It'd bring the game more fans.

  • Personally I would like him in the game is story is erie as well which makes me think it will work well. I guess some people aren't huge however on another indoor map and would rather see other stuff done first. Like graphics or bugs. But personally I would like him. But I still don't understand what makes him decisive.

  • I myself have no idea but I feel like her add-ons will end up like Billy weird little odd to use. No where as mighty as they use to be.

  • @The_Krapper said:

I'm gonna start by saying camping is totally acceptable in the game and I don't have an issue with it but at least own it

I just watched a streamer (that I can't name of course) hard proxy within 8 meters every hook that he got and two survivors escaped and went to his TTv and asked him why he camped from the start and he said because a survivor was right there everytime he hooked someone taunting him but the man wouldn't chase a soul away from the hook and nobody was there for the first half of the hook stages he just wouldnt leave and had the audacity to call the two that escaped bad for not being able to get the survivors that were being camped with Oni in his power so I've come to the conclusion if you say "the survivors don't leave the hook" it really means "I'm not gonna chase anyone and camp this guy" because if even one guy is right there that's a easy BBQ stack to earn because you didn't have to go anywhere to start the chase and he's not on a gen , solely you make the decision to camp, if you're going to have that playstyle at least own it is all I'm saying and don't make excuses for it.

That instance and if it's the endgame and you need a kill then camping can be acceptable.

  • This person has never ever played the game. And if he did he'd bring monstrous shrine and this is not happening.

sadly most of your counter arguments boild down to "just have a good team" - which is a rarity in solo queue.

you got a point with a lot of these. yeah, he cant be at multiple places at the same time. but that would actually require my team to do the objective in the first place, not sit in a corner, selfcaring and then urban evading for the next 50 seconds until they even think about going somewhere near a gen / totem, just to be scared off immediately once the slightest sign of a heartbeat is present in the distance.

thats why i said this was problematic for solo queue, because thats usually the main issue with it: potatoe team mates. thats what everyone complains about with it, thats what makes it so unreliable and so annoying to play. the fact that your team mates usually barely scratch the 500 ingame hours and get themselves / you killed over and over again.

in a group of players you know are playing well together / you have on comms this combo is a lot less problematic, exaxtly because these tactics you gave me earlier work.

so, why should the aura reading be removed?

lets look at the perk design for that. The perk was designed to allow other Hex perks that have been destroyed to be transferred to a Dull Totem, should one be available at the time.

the whole point of the perk is to protect a different Hex perk after its destruction.

its a lot like TOTH in that regard - its not ment to be good on itself, its ment to be good when combined with other perks, such as Ruin. speaking of which, isnt it funny how Undying, the perk that should protect a Hex after its destruction, renders TOTH, the perk that should protect a Hex from being destroyed in the first place, completely useless, by basically giving you that perks effect of alerting you when someone touches your totems as a sideeffect not only for free, but a superior version of it?

TOTH is restriced to: 1) a noise notification / location reveal only 2) only revealing someone who is actively touching a totem and 3) only revealing those who touch Hex totems.

Undying does the same, with less downsides - 1) it gives a direct aura reveal, so it not only tells you which totem is being touched, but you can also track the survivor, should they try to sneak away. 2) the survivor doesnt even need to be touching the totem in the first place, he doesnt even have to know about the totem and they still get revealed. 3) it gives the aura of any survivor near any totem with no restrictions.

why would anyone ever equip TOTH, when the current version of Undying exists? its simple, they wont.

so lets come back to the main question: why is Undying, the perk that is supposed to protect a Hex after its destruction also the main powerhouse when it comes to not letting a Hex being destroyed in the first place? and why is it even protecting the totems that arent Hexes to begin with?

that makes no sense, thits not what its supposed to do. TOTH was designed to do this (and it also doesnt give away those working on Dulls btw).

now, lets see the "lots of counterplay" you were reffering to...

all i see here is eigther coordinated team work or equipping specific perks. correct me if i missed something, but none of that is reliable counterplay for a solo player such as me.

also, please refrain from using arguments like "just dont get hit" in the future.

i view you as an experienced enough player to know how ridiculous and weak that as an argument is.

But would it still be a problem if ranking was actually consistent?

  • @LowSpecGamersMatter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1718702#Comment_1718702

no place for small game, need other perks to carry my potatoe team by getting chased as much as possible. Because if you dont know, solo Q is an absolute desaster u have to always carry as MVP. and EVEN IF I would slap in small game, thats ME not being on gens for 4 totems. thats a loss. 100%. u cant 3v1 a killer on 5 gens. because the guy on totems is not really playing the game towards the objective.

for reference. I have been using tinkerer, surveillence, ruin and undying and I havent lost A SINGLE match since 3 weeks. This is pure easy mode. Sure, I was already winning 90% of my games previously with good old pop. but now? its 100%. not a single team has beaten me and I dare anyone to challenge me.

    What's your usual build?

  • @LowSpecGamersMatter said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1718582#Comment_1718582

it just to much. Its RNG depended. Which means in worst case (and this happens much more than you will admit) u have to cleanse 4 hex totems to get rid of ruin. Good luck doing that on one of the newest maps with INSANE hidden totems like hawkins, or generally any other indoor map. And then throw in tinkerer and high mobility and its gg

Have you tossed on Detectives or Small game. Run one of them with Inner and you can get a build going.

  • @Tricks said:

Tinker + Ruin + Undying = must have for each and every sweatlord wanting an easy-mode button

That's more for the mobility killers to toss on tinkerer unless you actually get hags who try and make the distance I'd believe it I've seen it.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1718670#Comment_1718670

To me that illustrates the problems with the ranking/pip system putting people of unequal skill together, not a problem with these 2 perks.

Yeah that's the fault of ranking not the perks. There'd be a lot less complaints on killer perks if ranking was consistent.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1718654#Comment_1718654

I play strictly solo queue and we manage fine. Many times we even finish all gens with ruin still up. So why isn't it a problem in my solo queue games?

There is plenty of counter play to this combo so where's the issue?

Some people are unlucky in solo que some times you get the pro looping Nea the other times you get the locker Dwight. The other person must get the locker Dwight.

  • Depends on the person using the killer look at gamers get 4ks with Trapper and Clown. It's more of how difficult getting that 4k is. A god clown will still have a rougher time then a god nurse.

  • Oh I play both sides Ruin Undying is annoying but it's manageable. Ebony moris though they can go.

  • @FFabeq said:

Ruin + undying + tunneling spirit/deathslinger/pyramidhead who camps better players with mori sure makes the game awesome!!! I love it, when I get 10k bloodpoints after a match like this, a time well spent!!!

That's less the perks and more people playing like jerks which trust me I know the pain. PH with Noed and ebony.

  • @Mister_xD said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1718582#Comment_1718582

the perks themselves arent an issue.

the combo of Ruin + Undying itself is also not an issue (besides the face that it creates an RNG based secondary objective and i personally despise anything that is RNG based, but thats a personal issue i have with it)

however, it gets problematic when this combo is used together with Tinkerer on a high mobility Killer, such as the Blight.

it is then that it gets way too oppressive for survivors and it singlehandedly wins killers a game. all the killer needs to do is showing some map awareness and its basically a GG - you cant do gens, as they would rush to them immediately when tinkerer triggers and you cant do totems, as they would rush to them immediately when your aura is revealed to them - not an issue on normal killers, but high mobility killers always have the ability to get to you before you can finish the action, getting a free chase AND resetting your objective all at once.

granted, coordinated groups can beat this by, well, coordinating their actions, forcing the killer to choose what totem to protect and which to let go for example, but for any solo player this becomes extremely hard to deal with.

my suggestion would be to remove the aura reveal of Undying (or at the VERY least, limiting it to Hex totems ONLY). there is no reason why it should be on this perk, as it has nothing to do with what the perk was made for (respawning other Hexes) and it just ends up making the perk too good imho.

this wouldnt fix my problem with the RNG based secondary objective, but it would help a lot making this combo a lot less oppressive than it currently is, by actually giving survivors a chance to deal with the totems without trading like 5 hooks for them.

I actually agree taking away aura reading away because it overshadows Retribution and TOFH and it's a little much.

  • @Lunairtic said:

I'm glad that this very smart and well designed combo is in the game. How would killers function without it??? I assume they would have to actually play the game like survivors.

Maybe we should invent a perk that's let's survivors sabo hooks from anywhere on the map until that specific tool box is out. I mean fair is fair right. But they should also make it so that the aura of the killer is seen by everyone when they close to a survivor. Because what if the killer actually tries to get rid of the toolbox? Well we cant have that. So when that toolbox is out another survivor automatically gets it.

    What's your perk builds?

  • Avoid the the 3 gen and it becomes very hard for the killer. And RuIn-Undying isn't as good on the 4.4s and M1s. Although it can be difficult to deal with good mobility killers like Billy, Nurse, Freddy, Oni, and Blight.

  • Hopefully they'll buff demo and buff Steve's perks. It'd make sense since Netflix would like their monster star to be played more.

  • It runs good on my phone haven't seen that bug.

  • But was it nerf he got a sick new theme. The add-ons aren't as good anymore. And overheat occasionally gets to me. But overall I play the same and the theme is awesome.

  • Yeah while this game isn't perfect it's awesome love to play it thank you and happy birthday.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

Personally I believe there are 2 options

Option 1. A licensed killer, of those options I believe Xenomorph, Jason or Slenderman are the most likely options

Option 2. A original killer, while I can't say I know how BHVR thinks (I imagine many of us do) I personally would like to see a Dragon-style killer (Yes it could work I made a post about it like a month ago, go look at that if you disagree) or a Illusionist that is basically Doctor's Madness illusions but way more trippy

I think DBD needs to come up with something different because some killers are starting to have similar powers Oni is similar to billy. Ghost face is similar to Michael. And Spirit is similar to wraith. Each of those killers mentioned first having better versions of their power. So I hope the new killer has a unique power not similar to others.

  • Darn I'm lucky I've only had to deal with an Ebony Cyprus. Although I've seen a ton of Pyramid Heads.
